Why Is There an Opioid Crisis? - Duration: 5:21.

Last week, the opioid epidemic was declared a 'public health emergency' in the United

States — something advocates have been pushing for a while.

Because at this point, experts agree that America is in the middle of an opioid crisis.

According to the CDC, around 90 Americans die from opioid overdoses every day

That's about as many as those who die in car crashes.

There are all kinds of different factors that led to this crisis.

But the main reasons have a lot to do with what these drugs are, how they reduce pain,

and why they're so addictive.

First, some terminology.

You hear people throwing around words like opioids and opiates, not to mention heroin,

oxy, and fentanyl.

But those mean different things.

Opioids are any drug that acts on opioid receptors on your cells.

Opiates are essentially the same, but they're made from the poppy plant.

Yep, the plant that gives us lemon poppy seed muffins also makes opium and morphine.

So opiates are natural, while opioids include both natural and synthetic drugs.

For our purposes, what matters is that they all bind to opioid receptors on cells around

your body, like in your brain and spinal cord.

These receptors come in different shapes, like mu opioid receptors.

And when opioids bind to receptors, it makes it harder for neurons to send along signals

that get interpreted as pain.

This happens in the spinal cord, where peripheral nerve cells pass on incoming signals.

And it happens in the brain, where neurons in a region called the periaqueductal gray

prevent cells from releasing neurotransmitters, which are basically chemical messages.

All this means opioids are really good pain relievers.

And in the 1990s, because of a combination of factors including misrepresented research,

doctors started prescribing more painkillers like oxycodone and hydrocodone to try to treat

pain.

But opioid receptors are also in reward centers of the brain, and binding to cells there can

create euphoria, which is that 'high' feeling.

That's what makes them addictive.

Plus, your body builds tolerance to them pretty quickly, so you need more of the drug to control

the same amount of pain.

You can also become physically dependent, experiencing symptoms of withdrawal if you

stop taking the drug.

Since neurons get used to the opioids, they become more active to compensate for the drug

suppressing signals.

And if it's no longer there, the cells become way more active than normal.

So you can become agitated, anxious, or feel like puking.

Addiction, on the other hand, is a psychological condition where you seek out the drug despite

the damage it does to your life.

While physical dependence is common with addiction, a person doesn't have to be dependent to

become addicted and vice versa.

With the opioid epidemic, it's thought that many people who originally took the drugs

as prescribed started to take more.

In other words, they began abusing them.

And when pills became too expensive or difficult to get, they turned to heroin, an opioid made

from morphine, which was more readily available.

Regardless of the source, the addiction can turn deadly because of the other physiological

effects of opioids.

That's because opioid receptors aren't just in areas of the brain that control pain;

they're also in the parts that control breathing, like the brainstem.

And when they block signaling there, opioids slow down and can even stop breathing.

Doctors call this respiratory depression, and it's usually what kills people who overdose.

Fortunately, we now have some ways to counteract overdoses.

For instance, naloxone can be injected or squirted up someone's nose and, within minutes,

seemingly bring people back from the dead.

It's actually an opioid, too, since it binds to opioid receptors.

But unlike heroin or prescription painkillers, which are agonists, naloxone is an antagonist.

That means that when it binds to a receptor, it doesn't turn on any of the usual effects.

Instead, it acts as a blocker.

Naloxone works so well because it binds to opioid receptors more strongly than the overdosed

drug.

So it can flood your system and prevent the drug from binding.

Problem is, you need to treat someone with naloxone pretty fast.

It doesn't always take long after an overdose for them to stop breathing.

And that's especially true if they've taken one of the stronger synthetic opioids,

like fentanyl.

Fentanyl is a prescription drug that's around 50-100 times stronger than morphine.

Because of its structure, it can cross a protective membrane called the blood-brain barrier more

easily, which means your brain can get flooded with the stuff faster.

Lately, illicit versions of it have been added to heroin and other drugs sold on the street.

And other, fentanyl-like drugs are even more powerful, like carfentanil, which is used

to tranquilize elephants.

Not only do these drugs cause faster overdoses, but they also need more antidotes to counteract

the effects.

So even if the person is given a treatment like naloxone in time, there might not be

enough on hand to save them.

Deaths from overdoses have spiked in recent years, and as the problem has gotten worse,

experts have been trying to figure out how to deal with it.

For the most part, doctors are starting to cut back their prescriptions of opioids, which

should help reduce the number of people who go on to develop addictions.

And researchers are working on finding opioids that can knock out pain without all the dangerous

side effects.

Some groups, for example, are studying drugs that are closer to the opioid peptides our

bodies make, which may bind to receptors in more specific ways.

But in the meantime, there are already a lot of people out there with substance abuse disorders,

and helping them get into treatment is a whole other challenge.

So, there's still a lot of work to do.

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow and thanks especially to our President of

Space, SR Foxley!

We really appreciate your support.

ARREMETIDA / GO-AROUND GEAR UP FLAP - Duration: 6:55.

HI PEOPLE WELCOME ON BOARD

TODAY WE WILL TALK ABOUT GO-AROUND

LET'S START FROM THE BEGINNING, WHAT IS A GO-AROUND?

WHEN AT THE LANDING PROCEDURE

FOR SOME REASON IT MUST TO DISCONTINUE

THIS APPROACH

AND STARTS TO GO UP AGAIN

DOING A NEW PROCEDURE TO LANDING

THIS IS A GO-AROUND

AND WHY IT HAPPENS?

IF FOR SOME REASONS

THE LANDING IS ABNORMAL

OR UNSAFE

THEY START THE GO-AROUND PROCEDURE

AND WHAT ARE THE REASONS?

WE CAN MAKE A LIST OF THIS

OBSTACLE ON THE RUNWAY

ANOTHER AIRPLANE

OR EVEN AN ANIMAL

WHEN WE FLY TO THE COUNTRY

SOME AIRPORTS ARE NOT TOTALLY CLOSED AROUND IT

SO SOME ANIMALS CAN ENTER. WIND IS ONE OF THE MOST

REASONS TO DISCONTINUE THE APPROACH

EACH AIRPLANE HAS THE LIMIT OF CROSS WIND

OR OF

TAIL WIND THAT IS ALLOWED TO LANDING

SOM, IF THIS WIND FOR SOME REASON

BECOME STRONGER

THE APPROACH MUST BE DISCUNTINUED

LET'S SUPOSE THE CROSS WIND

IS LIMITED OF 20KTS

FOR LANDING

SUDELLY THIS BECOMES 25, 30KTS

THE PILOT MUST GO-AROUND

SOME TIMES THE WIND CHANGES DIRECTION

THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD CHANGES

SO, YOU ARE APP TO THIS THRESHOLD, THE WIND CHANGED

AND YOU CAN'T CONTINUE

SO, YOU GO-AROUNDO

DO ANOTHER PROCEDURE

IT HAS A MAXIMUM SPEED

ALLOWED TO LANDING

AND STOP THE AIRPLANE

THERE ARE SOME PROCEDURES TO REDUCE SPEED

LIKE SPOILER, FLAP

LANDING GEAR... TO REDUCE

SPEED. BUT SOME TIMES

THIS IS NOT ENOUGH

BECAUSE THE AIRTRAFIC CONTROLLER REDUCES YOUR APP

SO, THIS SPEED

MAY BECOME MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED

AND WHEN YOU ARE AT

DECISION ALTITUDE

TO DECIDE IF YOU CONTINUE OR NOT

IF THE SPEED IS SUPERIOR

YOU MUST GO-AROUND

AND START AGAIN

SOME AIRPORTS ARE PROHIBITED TO LANDING WHEN IT'S RAINNING

FOR EXEMPLO CASCAVEL

THERE IS A PREDOMINANT CROSS WIND

IT WAS A VERY DIFFICULT RUNWAY TO LANDING

SO, THERE WAS SOME RULES TO LANDING THERE

THERE WAS A TIME THAT ONLY CAPTAINS COULD LANDING THERE

THERE WAS A TIME THAT WE COULDN'T LANDING WHEN IT WAS RAINING

YOU WAS THERE PREPARING YOUR APPROACHING

AND IT STARTS TO RAINING, YOU HAD TO DISCONTINUE AND GO-AROUND

IT EVERYTHING

IS DONE TO MAKE IT MORE SAFETY

FOLLOWING THE RULES

OF COMPANY, AIRPORT AND PRODUCER

IMPOSE FOR A SAFETY LANDING

WHAT IS A GO-AROUND?

IT'S THE SIMPLE THING OF PILOTS CHANGE THE LANDING CONDITIONS

TO A TAKEOFF CONDITIONS

SO, IT IS A FULL FLAP

WITH LANDING GEAR DOWN ALL CONFIGURED TO LANDING, AND SUDDENLY

IT MUST TO GO-AROUND

IT STARTS TO GO UP

CLEANING THE AIRPLANE. PUTTING THE LANDING GEAR UP

CUNFIGURE THE FLAP POSITION

PRESS THE GO-AROUND BUTTON

THE SCREES CHANGE TO TAKEOFF CONFIGURATION

INSTEAD OF LANDING PROCEDURE

SO, THIS IS A SIMPLE TAKEOFF BUT INSTEAD INITIATE IT FROM THE RUNWAY

IT WILL START FROM THE AIR

WHY THE PASSENGERS ARE SO SCARRY OF GO-AROUND?

BECAUSE OF LACK OF INFORMATION

THE AIRPLANE IS LANDING AND SUDDENLY IT STARTS TO GO UP AGAIN

THE ENGINE GOES TO FULL POWER

THE NOISE IS LOUDER

THE NOISE OF THE LANDING GEAR

SO MANY FACTORS

TO SCARE THE PASSENGER

BUT THE THUTH

THE PROBLEM IS LACK INFORMATION

DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING

BUT IT IS A NORMALLY PROCEDURE

That's because opioid receptors aren't just in areas of the brain that control pain;

they're also in the parts that control breathing, like the brainstem.

NOVEMBER TBR (Nonfiction November, Tome Topple, Bray-vember!) || 2017 - Duration: 6:04.

Hey guys, it's Emily! For today's video I'm bringing you my November TBR. This is

going to be a very ambitious TBR because I plan on participating in three different

readathons. We have Nonfiction November, which is all about surprise pies reading

nonfiction. There's Tome Topple, which is about reading books that are over 500

pages. And there's also the Bray-athon, which is to read books by Libba Bray.

We'll see if I actually fulfill that goal of participating in all three

readathons, but fingers crossed. I'll include links to announcement videos and

the hosts, all that kind of stuff, for all three of these readathons

down in the description box. So if you want to know more go check out down

below. The first book that I plan on reading in the month of November is The

Romanovs: 1613-1918 by Simon Sebag Montefiore. This

is historical nonfiction all about the Romanov family covering, obviously, about

200 years of their history. It is nonfiction. It is 657 pages long, and that

is not including the index or bibliography section. So that's just like

pure reading to get through. So obviously it qualifies for Nonfiction November and

for Tome Topple. Checking both of those boxes. I'm a little nervous about finishing this in

the month of November. This is a book that is so big that my hand is starting

to cramp holding it up. I'm not even joking right now, my hand kind of hurts, so I'm going to

switch hands. I'm going to try to finish this in November. Next I have a book that doesn't

go with any of these challenges, and that is Adaptation by Malinda Lo. This is YA

science fiction .All I know about the plot is that there's some kind of

natural disaster and a government conspiracy is involved. I also heard that it

has awesome bisexual representation. All of Malinda Lo's works have

protagonists that are LGBTQIA+ women. I've read Ash by her, and it was so great.

I'm really excited you pick this up! Next I plan on reading You Can't Touch My

Hair by Phoebe Robinson. This is an essay collection, so obviously nonfiction, and

it looks at race and feminism and pop culture and all that kind of stuff I am

so excited to read this. Robinson is known for being one half of the podcast

Two Dope Queens. I am expecting to laugh a lot reading this, and get

angry a lot about the state of the world while reading this, and learn a lot while

reading this. Next I plan on re-reading a book, and I don't know if rereading

technically counts or not for Tome Topple. If you exclude the reference-y

section that's at the very end of this book, it's just shy of a thousand

pages. But I want to read it because the next book in this series is coming out.

And what I am talking about is The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. This is a

huge book! It's book 1 and his Stormlight Archive series. I love this series! It is

such fun epic fantasy. I don't really think going into the plot is going to give you

a lot. It's Brandon Sanderson, so it's not prose, but it is very action-packed and

it has a lot of fun characters. His worlds are so inventive and immersive and

original-feeling. That's no exception in here, and because it is so very long, you

really get immersed in that world with politics and intrigue and action and

battle sequences. Book 3, which is called Oathbringer, is coming out in

November. It might already be out, I don't even know. Because they're so long

there's a lot of details that you can forget, so I'm going to reread this, and then

I'm going to reread book 2, which is Words of Radiance, and then I'm finally going to

get to Oathbringer. Next I want to listen to an audiobook of The Diviners by Libba

Bray. I have a physical copy of this and I think it's beautiful and wonderful and

gorgeous, but I'm too lazy to go get it out of the other room, so I'm not going to

do that... And I want to reread this because I've kind of fallen off the

train of this series. Not because I don't like it, literally because I'm being a

douchebag and I'm kind of mad about the cover changes, so I haven't picked up

the sequels. I don't know if it's complete or not yet, but three books are

out. Obviously I want to get to books two and three, and it's BrayAThon, so

this is the perfect impetus to reread The Diviners, and I specifically say read

because your brain processes audiobooks and an almost identical manner to

literally reading a page. So for people who are snobbish about that: no no! I've

also heard that this audiobook, in particular, is just great! So I'm so

excited to reread The Diviners, to get back into this universe, and to get back

into audiobooks, because I haven't listened to an audiobook in so long! Next

I want to read This Is Your Brain on Music by Daniel J Levitin.

This is nonfiction. It's nonfiction November. So I'm reading it! It is exactly

what the title says. It's a look at the neuroscience about how your brain

behaves when it listens to music, specially music that you love. In high

school I had a lot of friends who said that this was one of their favorite

books, or that this was a book that totally blew their mind, so I have some

very high expectations. And lastly I have a book that has nothing to do with any

of these readathons, but I just want to read it. And that is Little Fires

Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I went to the Celeste Ng event in San

Francisco with Joce. It was so cool! It was amazing listening to her talk. She's

just so, so, so brilliant, and after listening to her I cannot wait to read

this. This is also a signed copy, which is kind of cool. This takes place in a

suburb outside of Cleveland called Shaker Heights, which is also where

Celeste Ng is from, and to my understanding there's kind of two plot lines, but then

everything is interwoven because it's very much a character driven book.

There's a family, I think they have four kids, and they have some kind of

unit on their property. It's like an apartment, or a condo, or a little

guest house--something like that--that they rent out to an artist and her daughter.

It's kind of about how that causes tension and how they all interact. And

then there is also a plot about the adoption of a Chinese baby. Everything

I've heard about it is it seems to be an examination of white upper-middle class

liberal communities, and how they are often not as progressive as they would

like to project. I am so unbelievably excited to read

this. This is also one of Joce's favorite books. I am just super hyped for this. So

that's it! All the books that I plan on reading in the month of November. I am so,

so, so excited. It's a little ambitious, but I'm hoping that the structure of all

these readathons is going to be helpful in aiding me to actually get this TBR

done, because I can tell you right now that I did not complete my October TBR.

It was... Hmmm. October was not a good reading month for me, and that's totally

fine! So we'll see if November's better. That would be great, but it's also okay

if it's not. Thanks so much for watching this video! If you liked it, give it a

thumbs up! Hit subscribe to see more my face. You can find me on Twitter

Spiced Apple Fruit Bombs // Healthy Snack // The Gardenettes - Duration: 3:09.

Finding a healthy school snack that the kids will actually eat can be tricky, so

sometimes it's nice to make them yourself so you know what's in there

and I reckon the kids will love these spiced apple fruit bombs. They're nut free

and so simple to make that the kids will be able to help you. You'll need

half a cup of freshly grated apple for this recipe which is about two apples.

Then you want to squeeze the juice out of the pulp straight into a glass which you can

drink later. Then pop the pulp straight into a mixing bowl along

with one and a half cups of desiccated coconut. Now I've got some middle-eastern

inspired flavours going on in this dish... I'm gonna use the zest of one orange.

It can go straight into the mixing bowl - I always find that citrus zest brings so

much flavour to dishes especially things like raw desserts and cakes. Orange zest

will pack a punch of flavour in these fruit bombs. Next for sweetness I'm

adding five medjool dates which are fresh dates that are really soft, you

just need to remove the pip and blitz them up in a food processor until

they're nice and soft. They will give a really nice caramel &

toffee flavour in these fruit bombs. To bring them together I'm

going to use hulled tahini which is just sesame seeds formed into a really

beautiful paste about one and a half tablespoons of tahini it adds little

bit of a savory element to these fruit bombs as well. You find that you use

tahini a lot in the Middle Eastern cooking. Add a dash of ground cinnamon about

a quarter of a teaspoon and of course a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Now this is

where you can get your hands dirty but just make sure they're clean first! And

the kids are going to love helping you mash up and bring together all of these

ingredients.

If the mix is feeling a little bit dry you can use some of the leftover apple

juice or some tahini. And then it should come together pretty well and you'd be

able to squeeze it together to form some rough ball shapes and this is where the

kids would love to help out - about a tablespoon or so of mix and then get

some of that leftover desiccated coconut you just roll the balls in it.

This mix will make around 10 to 15 fruit bombs and they'll keep for the week

ahead so you've got your school snacks sorted!

Stranger Things 2 and Aliens: How to Build a Bigger World | NowThis Nerd - Duration: 9:20.

Hey guys, I'm Mike and I definitely did not envy the Duffer Brothers during the buildup to 'Stranger Things 2.'

Can you imagine the pressure to make a satisfying follow-up to such a beloved hit?

I mean, it was my favorite show of 2016. Anyway,

Fortunately, they avoided the sophomore slump by taking a lesson from one of the greatest sequels ever: 'Aliens.'

James Cameron built on the success of Ridley Scott's 'Alien' by changing everything from the scale of the story to the genre of the movie,

And The Duffers used the same lessons to up the ante with 'Stranger Things 2.'

So let's take a closer, SPOILER filled look at

How 'Aliens' Helped 'Stranger Things' Build a Bigger World.

Starting with

More Monsters

The first 'Alien' was just one xenomorph against a crew of terrified space truckers,

similar to how our 'Stranger Things' heroes had their hands full with a single Demogorgon.

Cameron needed to raise the stakes for 'Aliens,' so he dreamed up an army of swarming xenomorphs to raise hell on LV-426,

They're coming outta the goddamn walls!

just like how the Duffers unleashed packs of snarling Demo-dogs on the town of Hawkins.

Increasing the monster count allows for a lot more action,

and keeps the sequel from treading too much familiar ground,

but it does come at a cost.

Part of the mystique of the original xenomorph was how seemingly unstoppable it was.

Ripley couldn't even kill it directly, she just had to stay alive long enough to blast it out of an airlock.

But the xenomorphs got nerfed hard in 'Aliens.'

They certainly get their fill of space marines, but drones are exploding left and right in this movie,

and the acid blood only seems to matter when the script remembers it.

In the first season of 'Stranger Things,' the Demogorgon was an unkillable menace.

I mean, it took three teens and a house full of traps to slightly wound it.

But the new Demo-dogs aren't too much of a problem, at least if you're a main character.

I mean Steve is smashing their heads like he's Gallagher,

and in the climactic scene Hopper just blows them away.

They're still effective, but they're not quite as scary as a single slimy Demogorgon played by a man in a rubber suit.

Speaking of which, special effects can also suffer when things get bigger.

H.R. Giger created a meticulously detailed suit for his Xenomorph,

and Ridley Scott hid it away in darkness to let your imagination fill in the terrifying details.

But there were too many xenos in 'Aliens' to get that kind of treatment,

so Cameron mostly used performers in black spandex with alien armor glued on.

In 'Stranger Things,' one of the Duffers' main goals was to create a memorable monster of out real, practical effects,

and they definitely acheived it.

But in season two, I'm seeing a lot more CGI.

Here's the thing, though:

You know how slasher movies get really old by like, the fifth sequel or so?

That's because the stakes never really change,

It's always the same monster killing the same clueless teens.

Most slashers just aren't scary after you've seen them so many times.

You the monster's gonna come alive, and you know the teens are gonna die. There's nothing at stake outside of their own lives.

That's why adding more action is such a brilliant move.

You can't just have Will and the gang get menaced by another Demogorgon,

Or even another monster like it.

Instead, the Duffers successfully pivoted away from low-key horror to apocalyptic action.

And since the bigger scale required a vastly bigger threat, that requires a lot more

Worldbuilding

In 'Alien,' we know almost nothing about the Xenomorph.

It came from an egg in an ancient spacecraft, hatched into a wriggly worm of death and grew into a drooling killer.

For 'Aliens,' Cameron expanded on Scott and Giger's original concept by introducing a single, monstrous Queen that controlled her army of mindless drones.

Meanwhile, in 'Stranger Things,' the Demogorgon was a total mystery.

They literally knew nothing about it, they had to use 'Dungeons & Dragons' terminology to equate what it does.

The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering!

The season finished without any real answers on what it was, where it came from, or what it wanted.

That would have worked just fine as the end of a standalone series,

But the sequel needed to expand on the mythology to keep us coming back.

I still feel it...

So, we find out about the Mind Flayer, the giant, tentacled organism that controls all life in the Upside Down,

Not unlike the hive-mind dominated by the xenomorph Queen.

The shadow monster's inside of him. If the vines feel pain, so does Will. Hive mind.

Hive mind. A collective consciousness. It's a superorganism.

It's the thing that controls everything.

Not only that, we learned its purpose: to spread and conquer all of us inferior beings in the real world.

At least according to the kids and their Monster Manual.

The Mind Flayer. What?

Oh my God, none of this is real, it's a kid's game.

No, it's a manual.

It's not just the scope of the story that increased, it's the consequences for failure.

'Alien' and season 1 were about isolated humans fighting for survival.

Our heroes may lose their lives, but the world would keep on turning.

Both sequels transform the singular struggle into a battle for the species itself.

In 'Stranger Things 2,' the fate of our entire dimension is at stake, not just Will and the gang.

It's like how in 'Aliens,' the humans and Xenomorphs are battling for control of the space colony,

while another faction wants to unleash them as bioweapons.

Speaking of which, we learned more about the evil corporation in 'Aliens,' too.

In the first movie, it's only referred to in passing as the "Company,"

But the sequel lets us in on how powerful Weyland-Yutani really is,

and how they'll stop at nothing to cash in on the xenomorphs.

Those two specimens are worth millions to the bioweapons division.

Now if you're smart, we can both come out of this as heroes and be set up for life.

Just like how 'Stranger Things 2' shed more light on the government scientists who are trying to understand, and exploit, the Upside Down,

But imagine for a moment a foreign state, let's say the Soviets, if they heard about our mistake...

Do you think they'd even consider that a mistake? Or would they try to replicate that?

Can't let the Russkies have it can we?

I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration to sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids!

The expanded scope opens up tons of awesome new story possibilities.

Number Eight [BELCH], Number Eight [BELCH], Number Eight [BELCH]

As a series grows from a standalone surprise hit to a genuine franchise,

It needs to flesh out its backstory and expand upon the world it created.

And with at least two more seasons of 'Stranger Things' planned,

the Duffers have successfully used 'Aliens' as a blueprint to build a much larger stage for their story to play out on.

Sticking so close to Cameron's masterpiece also set up opportunities for

Subversion.

There are plenty of smaller nods to 'Aliens' that don't necessarily tie into the big picture,

Like the way Hopper gets sucked into the tunnel floor like a colonist cocooned to the wall,

Eleven takes an elevator down for a final showdown with the big boss,

Or how a team of gung-ho sci-fi soldiers get eaten alive as their superiors watch on screens.

Get out of here! Ahh!

They might not tie into the greater narrative themes,

But they're such cool iconic moments in action cinema, why not throw 'em in?

What the hell?

It solidifies the connection, and it sets us up for some great subversions when things stray from the 'Aliens' formula.

Case in point? Dr. Owens.

It's clear that the Duffers cast Paul Reiser based on his iconic role as the sleazy corporate scumbag Burke in 'Aliens.'

It was a bad call, Ripley. It was a badd call.

Bad call? These people are DEAD, Burke!

I mean, in their original script, the character was literally named 'Paul Reiser.'

Those were your words!

So during my entire binge, I just kept waiting for him to turn heel, betray our heroes, and die in a suitably ironic manner,

just like Burke.

So imagine my surprise when he actually turns out to be a decent guy!

And if it kills the boy?

Then quite frankly, Sam, it kills him.

Say that to me again.

Sure, he's still working for the evil lab exploiting the Upside Down,

But he stands up for Will and tries his best to save him,

He even survives the night, and gives Eleven a birth certificate,

Which is like the nicest thing ever!

Hopper gets to be her dad now. I want Hopper to be my dad!

The Duffers built up our expectations with their 'Aliens' homage and self-aware casting of Paul Reiser,

Which made it such a pleasant surprise when they kept Dr. Owens on the side of the good guys.

That's just what the Duffers do, though.

They get you in the door with some clever references and '80s nostalgia,

Create a satisfying story on the foundations built by those who came before,

And throw in that extra little twist that makes 'Stranger Things' so special.

There are two people who know the truth about us.

Well, one of them has turned up.

Erhan, what did I do to this girl?

Were were the happiest people of this world. We were wonderful.

Top 3 Moments In Male Fragility In 2017 - Duration: 6:11.

Male fragility is a problem.

That's why we're reviewing 2017's greatest moments in male fragility so far.

And because we've already covered the fragility of these guys and of course this guy we're

gonna go over the moments you might've missed.

Fragility at the box office, in the workforce, and yes, over one's hypothetical murder.

Oh it goes deep.

Before we continue, let's clarify that we at Newsbroke love men.

We are men.

Matt is a man.

Our camera guy Hugo is a man.Our content strategist if of course a man.

My cat is a... well no my cat's a lady actually.

And while patriarchy might concretely hurt women in the form of sexual assault, unequal

pay, and a wasted afternoon watching at makeup tutorials, talking about patriarchy can hurt

male feelings.

It's called male fragility: defensiveness at the discussion of sexism, and the inability

to accept or take some responsibility for inequities between men and women by acting

like, and I don't use this word often, a whiny b*tch.

In a world, where multi million-dollar superhero movies never have female protagonists, where

girlfriends nationwide sit through yet another Transformers sequel, one theater chain dared to show

showings of Wonder woman only for women.

And People.

Got.

ANGWY!

it's hypocrisy at its finest, it's horseshit at its finest

I'm telling you, feminists are just female supremacists.

If this is deemed ok if we can have women only screenings of Wonder Woman then what's

stopping us from showing man's only screenings of movies.

Shame.

Shame is what stops us.

And the smell.

Shame and the smell.

Because men who believe in real equality in the real world know that women getting together

to watch a movie about a goddess warrior doesn't pose a threat… plus our goddess armies aren't

ready, yet.

(gasp) I said too much.

And there are men-only screenings of films, it's called Entourage.

But the Alamo did apologize to the city of Austin after two men filed complaints, even

though, as one guy so bravely proved, theaters didn't actually prevent men from buying

tickets.

Because they figured you wouldn't want to be that guy mansplaining reverse sexism during

the previews.

Next up: James Damore.

You might have heard of Damore, a former Google engineer who was fired for internally circulating

a memo that called Google's minority outreach and inclusion efforts discrimination, saying

that those efforts were a waste on account of biological differences between men and

women.

Yeah that's him wearing a shirt that says Goolag.

Cause Google is exactly like a Soviet work camp except there's nap pods, volleyball,

free sushi, haircuts, and massages.

But other than that, it's pretty much Stalinism.

After he was fired, Dmore denied arguing that women were less capable than men at being

engineers, it was that you idiots reading his 3300-word memo complete with several citations

that actually didn't cite anything -- didn't understand him.

And even one of the researchers Dmore cited wrote an a response to the memo, saying Demore

misused his science.

He said"using someone's biological sex to essentialize an entire group of people's

personality is like surgically operating with an axe."

To which James Damore said "um actually women are biologically incapable of using

axes.

I mean Why are men lumberjacks.

Hehe Science."

But no matter, Damore, who says he may sue Google, has fittingly become a darling of

the alt-right, which has both cheered him on and coddled him.

what's it been like for you is it hard to sleep, hard to concentrate?

yeah it's def been hard to sleep, - there was a surprising amount of attacks on just

my race and gender, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid - we want to avoid

to classify people based on their race and gender

Yes having people gender and racialize you when you just want to live your life does

sucks.

Women and people of color know exactly how that feels.

And look!

You've gotten job offers from other men in your male-dominated field that don't

even know you but just assumed you'd be qualified.

Including from Julian Assange.

Cause that's what happens when you're [best friends are chinese takeout boxes.

And the last moment of male fragility you might've missed has to do with fragility

about trans women having too many rights.

This one comes from Tucker Carlson, one of the remaining Fox hosts who hasn't faced

sexual harassment charges.

Although to be honest his show is an unwanted assault on the senses.

Back in April, Carlson had Caitlyn Jenner on and she talked about the murder rate of

trans women.

She was concerned that Attorney General Jeff Sessions didn't care.

There was a letter sent to him to try to prosecute the murderers of these trans women as hate

crimes // and he never even responded // Which is extremely disappointing to me.

A few months later, the Department of Justice said it *will* prosecute trans murders for

hate crimes, but that didn't stop Carlson from getting fragile over trans women of having

the privilege of being a hate crime victim.

I wonder Isn't it enough to prosecute someone for murder?

Is that not enough? put yourself in the position of someone else, if someone you loved were

killed and the murderer received a lesser sentence, because your loved one was not a

member of the trans community, that's kind of unfair.

Excuse me what?

Tucker Carlson is all lives mattering death.

Which coincidentally is Death's favorite game!

So:movie buffs, James Damore, Tucker Resting Dumb Face Carlson, don't worry.

Men still have it good.

You make up 85% of tech jobs at the largest tech companies, you still have 70% of speaking

roles in films, and no one is saying some murder is worse than yours.

Unless anyone messes with Laverne Cox.

Then everyone's going to jail!

Just let women have SOME things.

Consider it our way of coping, with you.

Top 10 Disneyland Horror Stories - Duration: 6:38.

Hello!

Welcome back to Most Amazing Top 10!

I am Rebecca Felgate….

And today we are talking about the Top 10 Disneyland Horror Stories….

I don't know about you but I am not sure I am going to feel the same way about the

most magical place on earth after this list.

10 - Stuck on It's a A Small World Can you imagine the horror of being stuck

on creepy creepy ride, It's a small world.

This is what happened to a paralyzed man who was stuck in the ride's Goodbye Room for

45 minutes.

Jose Martniez was stuck as the ride broke down and stuff were unable to provide him

with an exit like other riders.

The Dolls in that ride are so scary, I can't imagine being alone with them….while they

sing and I can't not listen.

9 - The White Lady In Disneyland California, many people have

reported seeing a lady dressed in 19th century clothing along Main Street in the park.

The woman is thought to have died in the area in the early 1900s, which of course was before

Disney was even built.

The woman seems to be a benevolent presence in her new home, and helps lost children find

the Baby Care Centre.

Another ghost said to haunt Disneyland is none other than Walt Disney himself …he

is coming in at number 8 While many rumours have circulated that Disney

has had his body frozen and stored under the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, that gossip

has been debunked.

What has been said though, is that Disney's haunt's the park itself, especially his

old office above the fire station.

The story goes that Disney always put a lamp in his Window when he was in the park to let

people know he is there.

After he died, a cast member was cleaning and saw the lamp was lit so she turned it

off.

She claims when she went downstairs and looked back up from the street, it had lit itself

again.

Now the light shines all the time as a signifier of Disney's continued presence in the park.

7 - Pluto Killed in Parade Disney World Worker, Javier Cruz, was killed

in 2004 in full Pluto costume amid a parade.

Unfortunately the 38 year old, who had worked at Disney for 8 years, was run over by a rogue

parade float.

The incident took place backstage by the east of Splash Mountain as the performers were

lining up just minutes before the parade was due to start.

Cruz was about to go through a fate into public view as the accident happened, and it is not

known whether or not any guests saw the incident.

6 - Gator Death In 2016, Disneyworld Florida was at the centre

of a horrible tragedy when a 2 year old boy from Nebraska was killed by an Alligator at

the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa Hotel at Disney World Orlando.

The little boy, Lane Graves, was playing by the 7 seas lagoon, where allegedly there were

no gator warnings.

Before his parents had chance to rescue their son, he was dragged away and drowned by a

gator…

It was later admitted that the alligator population was not being monitored and that they had

no idea how many gators were living in the waters surrounding the parks.

Recently, the boy was honoured with a lighthouse statue, commissioned by Disney.

The boys parents decided not to sue Disney, and instead established the Lane Thomas Foundation.

5 - Cancer in California Disneyland California is OLD.

It is the first ever Disney location and when it was built in 1955, back when people were

using lead based paint.

Lead, as we know now, can cause cancer.

Attractions with the highest lead levels were found to be the Sword in the Stone, in Minnie's

House, and Cinderella's Castle.

The park's reaction?

To place warning signs.

The signs read: Warning – The Disneyland Resort contains chemicals known to the state

of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Working at Disney doesn't seem like such a dream job now!

4 Phantom Manor electrocution In spring 2016, a cast member was killed at

Disneyland Paris's haunted house.

The ride that features ghoulish ghosts and spirits needed some maintenance and unfortunately

the 45 year old man was electrocuted while in the house of horrors.

3 Matterhorn Death In 1984, a 48-year-old woman was killed when

she was thrown from a Matterhorn Bobsled car and struck by the next oncoming bobsled.

The woman, named Dolly, appeared to have fallen out of the ride as her seatbelt was not buckled.

As she was riding alone in the sled, it is unknown if she unfastened it herself or if

the ride malfunctioned.

The area she died is now called Dolly's drop by cast members, some of whom think her

presence can still be felt.

2 – Thunder Mountain Death In 2003, a 22 year old man died as a result

of internal bleeding from blunt force trauma as train derailed on big thunder mountain.

The train became airborne and hit the rides celling before falling into another passenger

car, crushing Marcelo Torres.

The death was ruled as a result of poor maintainance.

Christmas at Disney seems all the more magical….

But sadly at number one, we have a Christmas Catastrophy on the Columbia Sailing Ship.

The Sailing Ship Columbia is an old and supposedly tame ride in Disneyland California.

It is a replica of the Columbia Rediviva – the first American ship to circumnavigate the

globe.

The ride is very gentle and takes passengers on a 12 minute sailing trip.

Unfortunately on Christmas Eve in 1998, part of boats metal cleat hit two passengers waiting

to board, killing one 34 year old man man and disfiguring his wife.

The incident happened in front of the couple's two children and other horrified guests.

A Disney employee was also injured.

So that was the top 10 Disneyland Horror stories, we have had ghosts, ghouls and death…..which

is not what you would expect from the happiest place in earth.

Do you guys have any scary Disneyland stories I need to know….comments !

Thanks etc……………..

This is only the first hole, cylinder.

Come on, go- oh come on!

Woo hoo! (laughing) That was terrible.

Oh my god, where am I going?

Woo hoo!

Oh no, isosphere come on.

Is this an isosphere?

Or do I have a regular ball?

Go up and over.

Come on.

Woo hoo!

Go in the hole.

Oh come on!

I can't even see it.

Double bogey.

(laughing) ok, that's really bad, but whatever.

This music is so happy.

(badly singing the peppy music) I didn't hit that hard enough (laughing).

Ohhh.

This is accurate to Amanda playing mini golf by the way.

I am not great at putt putt.

Oh shoot.

I thought I was gonna make that.

Wha- woah.

Shoot.

Crap, I did not time that well.

Oh come on.

Can I just go up here?

No, no I can't.

Is that even where I'm supposed to- I don't even know where I'm supposed to be going at

this point, so now I'm just gonna use this as exploration.

Ok.

I'm not competing against anyone else, I'm just putting the ball in the hole.

Yay!

Terrible scores!

This is making me hungry (laughing).

Go! (badly singing the peppy music) I'm going on a slide adventure (badly singing the peppy

music) Oh come on, go in.

Woo hoo!

Par!

I finally did decent!

I'm an acorn.

Yep.

That's, that's just, that's just, that's just great.

I really wanna be an ACORN!

It's so easy to control a damn acorn.

What?

I have to get up there which there's no way.

Damnit.

Nope.

Nope.

Frikin' acorn!

Oh come on.

I hate the acorn so much.

Ok.

Come on.

Acorn!

Ok, come on.

Aaaaaannnnd an egg.

Of course I'm an egg.

Honestly, I would not be doing much better with a ball so it's really not like it matters

that much.

(badly singing the peppy music) (sing-song) everybody's happy now! (badly singing the

peppy music) I absolutely love this game by the way.

I am abs- I am terrible at it, but it's just so much fun, even when it's shit, it's fun.

Oh god this is the iso- this is the isosphere.

No it's an acorn.

It's a fucking acorn again!

I hate the acorn.

The acorn doesn't roll for shit.

Oh no, you wanna be in there.

I think you wanna go in that.

Do I?

I don't know if this is a trap or not, but- (laughing) That was pathetic.

That was pathetic, acorn.

Shit (laughing) I thought I was going over by the, the donut.

Not that far.

Oooohhh oooohhhh.

Oooh come on.

Yeah.

Go!

Come on acorn.

Out of strokes!

Damnit! (laughing) this close.

Hi donut man!

We're goin' be friends, you and me.

Donut man.

Damnit.

(badly singing the peppy music) Stop rolling.

Damnit.

Do I have to go over there?

I think I do.

Yeah.

We're gonna try full blast.

How far does that get me?

Almost.

Almost to that hole.

Too far over.

Damnit!

Ok.

I don't wanna run outta strokes again so I'm gonna try it here, see if I can at least get

it on the- (badly singing the peppy music) I love this music so much.

This makes me so happy.

Damnit.

Yes!

Yes I didn't run out of strokes!

Ok.

I have no idea which way I'm supposed to go and I'm a frikin' hockey puck.

Alright, we're gonna go up this way.

Too far up that way.

Damnit, hockey puck.

Oooohhhh k.

Is that the h-?

I think that's where I'm going.

You know what?

Sometimes slow and steady wins the race, ok?

Yes.

I'm not worried about par, I'm gonna be so far over, it's not even funny.

I'm a star?!

What?!

I mean yes I am.

No I'm not, not at all.

But that's a star.

Oh come on, yes!

I learned how to draw a star in kindergarten and I vividly remember sitting at a desk,

like- oohh a bogey!

Ok!

I remember sitting at a desk in kindergarten with one of my classmates, like we had a desk

with a group of people, and he was teaching me how to draw a star.

So I still remember that.

(laughing) It was- I was sitting in the same seat that I was sitting in when the kid vomited

all over his workbook.

That was a different kid.

And that's the extent of my kindergarten stories, except for the time that we spent a good chunk

of the class looking for my teacher's, uh, glasses.

Which were on top of her head (laughing) but we were all so little, we couldn't see it.

Ooohh that's where I'm going.

Darn it.

Come on cyllander.

Woo hoo! (badly singing the peppy music) Cone!

Great.

Go cone, go!

Why cone, why?

Oh cone, you're gonna have some trouble with this.

Full blast cone, go!

Ok, this game says it still has some bugs but I will say they've done a remarkable job

at screwing you over with the cone.

It does all of the obnoxious things that you think it would do in real life.

(laughing) So good job with cone physics!

I'm a star again!

Go star, go!

Too far star.

GO!

Ok, well at least it didn't kill me.

Ok, the star acts kind of like the hockey puck.

Too far.

Wee!

I really wanna get a good- just like one time good.

You know?

Like a hole in one, or a birdie (laughing).

Or even a par, I'll settle for par at this point.

That was not the way to go.

That's too far.

I didn't think you were gonna kick me back.

NO!

I didn't mean to do that!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! (gasp) (frantic) don't breath anybody, nobody

breathe!

Go!

Um I hope I picked the right one.

I picked the wrong one (laughing) Damn.

Ok.

Let's try this one.

Ok, I'll take it.

Damnit!

I'm not very good, ok?

I think I mentioned that I'm not very good at this game.

I'm also not very good at golf or mini golf or anything like that.

Come on, oh come on.

That should roll back down.

Let's be honest.

That should roll back down.

(badly singing the peppy music) Ummm, we're gonna go with this one for no reason.

I didn't hit it hard enough.

Go egg, go!

Go egg, go!

Don't fail me now, egg!

No damnit.

Yay!

Double bogey (laughing) ok, that's the level that I'm playing at today.

Left click while in water, ok.

Good to know.

Go cone, go!

I'm guessing it's over here that I'm going?

I don't know where I'm going actually.

This way?

No.

This way!

No.

Go!

I don't know where I'm supposed to go.

I guess I go back in the water?

Oh I'm supposed to get up there!

I have a little life raft, that's adorable.

How do I keep- I am just gonna lose- there's no way I'm gonna

make it on this round.

Get some height!

Get some height, baby!

Get it, get it, get it!

Damnit.

Out of time (laughing) ok.

Yep.

I knew I wasn't gonna get that hole.

There was no way.

Go egg friend, go!

Woo hoo egg friend!

Ummmmm where am I going?

Go eggman!

You are the eggman, they are the walrus, coo coo kachoo.

Eggman.

Oh my god.

This- well that didn't work.

Ok (sigh) forget you too egg!

Go!

Alright.

Too far.

Mmmmmm come on.

Don't kill me!

Oh it killed me.

There.

Yes!

Final hole!

Ok.

I've gotta make up some serious strokes here.

Go!

No.

Go!

Nooooo.

No.

No!

You might need to be a ball for this one.

Come on, go, go, go, go.

Yes.

Riding a candy cane, riding a candy cane slide which sounds AMAZING.

I wanna ride a candy cane slide!

My ball stopped.

GO down the candy cane slide!

Charley!

It's candy mountain!

Oh my goodness it is candy mountain.

Don't kill me, don't kill me, don't kill me, don't kill me you balls!

No ball death!

No ball death!

I don't know how I avoided that, I really don't.

Yay!

That was the candy land level of Golf with Your Friends.

PAYPAL CHALLENGE - Duration: 7:43.

Okay lets start with this :

I'm excited I'm gonna stand 5 designs that made to London right now.

The guys in London about t-shirts things that I've designed for them.. they said NO

But it's cool it was not direct a NO they said nothing to do with the designs

they like too of them which was that one thing with the mask, that other stuff was

the fishes with the bullets. They said because of Christmas that prepared

already everything and stuff so why don't you why didn't you tell me that

two weeks ago huh ?? First that guy in London about t-shirt designs they reject

me because I said I'm too late and they all created everything and everything is

already in packages because of Christmas and this was two days ago then I thought

just don't give up go ahead do your thing go ahead go ahead go ahead

I finally found three websites who accept my designs

who found the design school anyway all based in the United States then I start

to open my account in that websites to send them the design. So if someone

goes to that website and purchase. ........you you'll get in you'll get the

( percent ) because you are the designer the companies are making all that other

stuff you know printing stuff the t-shirts and everything there was even

no shipping payments for someone who wants to buy some of my design stuff

they were just a bit of charge for Izmir Turkey to United States cost 25 $20 $25

and that shipping cost was between five or nine dollars which was fine and

really. I I felt really happy. To get that Comision ( percent )mean to get that money which

belongs to you after they sold any of your t-shirts you need an account and

because of the whole world is work working with PayPal only ... So I'm done

with this designing t-shirts and sell it to the whole world

this was a big time loose. I spent the whole week almost to open account and

blah blah blah. Amazon Amazon wants this and that and then sending another and

then go to open account there and then there's some things to translate in

English by official way by advocates and stuff lawyers and stuff everything

almost impossible and artist. If you not live in United States.

And then I went to eBay eBay also wants to have a PayPal account. Every website

who is online selling something one the PayPal account. If you're wondering what

this phone call was about, she was saying it was kind of answering you know

computer. He was saying that in 2016 PayPal stopped working in this country

where I am right now. There is no way. I'm making the research the whole day about

open account in another country. You have to live there too. My wife is in

European and she has a European pass but we are living in this country. So you

can't work with PayPal if you even are an alien. You have to live in that

country that you want to apply. If you want to apply to PayPal U.S. you have to

live there too. The bank account is not enough. You can't even sell or buy

anything if you are an alien which lives in a biggest star in the galaxy if you

have not an address in the United States or some where in Europe. It's so hard to give up.

for someone like me. For people like us we are ART PEOPLE. It's impossible to

give up but I guess this is the first time that I'm really giving up on this

t-shirt stuff. I had already created so many things. Ok what what now, what nw .

Nothing actually. I really don't know what to do. I spent so much time. I have

no incoming since three months or more. And this is important

as a father I guess. Feels like someone is trying to wash away that

fire that you have inside as ART PEOPLE which is you know creating our dynamic.

The half is gone. Really after everything. I lost a half of

this fire. Cool. Okay that's fine. That artwork for my friend, I still

didn't do anything because I was working on a computer. This is why my back pain

is rising cause you're sitting on computer and you're working for six

hours eight hours. This accounting stuff. Open account closing bank blah blah.

Reading everything, contracts on the websites and everything and then at

least finally you can't do it. That is so sick. But I told you if you remember if

you wanna go one step further in your ART you need to move to the United

States. Right ? This is why ! Got it ? By the way guys for people who are new right

now and who's watching this video I'm talking to you. This is not a tutorial.

If you are here to get some do-it-yourself stuff or how to make art

or stuff. This are just art Vlog. Possible that you catch sometimes

something very interesting that you even can't find in the cheap tutorial stuff.

But it's mostly about art vlogging. it's artists life. If you don't care

about this sh. skip and never come back. Okay. My lovely ART PEOPLE it's nice to

talk to you really. There are things that you can't share with your family

directly. Things that you can't share with your mom your dad because they will

have this daddy and mommy reactions you know:'' I told you and blah blah''. It really

makes you more sick. So it's nice to have you

here. Nice to talk with you right now about this position that I'm right... you

know. Okay there is one more thing that I can do or my art career and that is that

schedule stuff or educating people who wants to learn about Mosaic and sell art

mosaic art, how to create a website for an artistic career and how to edit you

know videos and stuff to create an portfolio video for yourself as an

artist. And I prepared a schedule for that to educate this kind of young

artists or artists candidates physically here in Izmir province of Turkey and

online on... I don't want to say the whole world because I'm sure this guy's will

also ask me for a PayPal. It's impossible to open a PayPal account right now even

if you want to try it in the black way. It doesn't work. You need insurance

number and stuff. Whatever forget about that. So just want to give you this quick

update. And see you at the next vlog. I hope. You know I'm returning back

actually because I'm missingto talk to you guys really really. This is why I always

said f* and then I'm coming back again and again. This is why I miss you

guys. Okay. Watch out I saw what happened in New York...

take care wherever you are..

That's because opioid receptors aren't just in areas of the brain that control pain;

they're also in the parts that control breathing, like the brainstem.

And we really appreciate all of you for watching too!

SciShow wouldn't exist without you, and we want to learn more about who you are and what

you'd like to learn from us.

So, we're doing a viewer survey right now that you can fill out to let us know.
