PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #908 | Moanalua High - O'ahu | Heart Over Height - Duration: 3:04.
I love soccer.
I wish to play in the big leagues, and play with like, all the professional soccer players.
I hope I can stay in soccer for the rest of my life.
He started with AYSO soccer, and it was just for fun, just to see if he liked the sport.
When it comes to soccer, Moanalua High School sophomore Rylan Sakai has always had big dreams.
Rylan works super hard.
Whenever he's trying to go for a ball and there's another person trying to go for
it as well, he pushes himself hard so he can beat the person to the ball.
I don't think that he would be able to fight for a ball fifty-fifty if it wasn't because
he's thinking ahead.
And that's what separates him from other players.
But it didn't take long for Rylan to realize that the goal was much bigger than he thought.
He was born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.
I'm short, but it still doesn't stop me from the thing I do,
the thing I love, my dream.
As a parent, we worry about the kids being so much bigger than him.
When I was in elementary school,
I was teased a lot about how short I am, and people put me down.
I felt like quitting after my parents told me that I couldn't make it, 'cause since
they told me that, like, I didn't really have a point in doing soccer.
Despite the criticism, he refused to let the negativity get to him.
As I grew older, I just learned to block them out,
and whoever teases me, it doesn't really matter.
[INDISTINCT] that I would see a lot of struggles that he goes through, but Rylan takes it in
stride.
He knows what he's capable of doing, and he just does it.
He can become the best player in the team.
He has the same opportunities, just like anyone else.
The difference is, yes, he's working harder than anyone else to be able to get there.
He knows what he wants.
I'm trying to go big because I'm trying to shoot for something that people
think I can.
He is hungry for the win.
He wants to win, and he wants to do good.
And I believe that the way that he is will allow him to do good in life.
He knows that he's Rylan, and this is what he's capable of doing, and he's not gonna
let that bother him, no matter what.
'Cause he knows in his heart that he can do it.
I still want to play soccer for the rest of my life.
For Rylan, it's all about heart over height,
and achieving his dreams will never be out of reach.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #908 | Waianae High - O'ahu | Voyage Through Generations - Duration: 3:06.
For fifteen-year-old Kristyn Kailewa, this is the dream: sailing the Hokule'a, a Hawaiian
cultural icon that first set sail in 1975.
I just love being connected with … you know, as Hawaiian to do the cultural practices as
what people did back then.
It's always been a dream of mine to just step on that boat.
Her connection to this moment is much deeper than just being on this canoe.
Being involved in the ocean, and just going out and paddling is part of our culture.
And Hawaiian culture was just built in me since I was a little kid.
But for a long time, Hawaiian culture was something that was not practiced, but buried.
And there's a reason for that.
Because two hundred years ago, there was a new wave of exploration that came from the
Western world.
Nainoa Thompson, master navigator and the president of the Polynesian Voyaging Society,
is one of the stars in the revival of traditional voyaging arts in Polynesia.
And things changed for Native Hawaiians, in the loss of population, loss of culture, loss
of language, which is the same kind of chronic story that is throughout all native people
on the planet.
If I didn't get to practice my Hawaiian culture, I would be angry.
That anger is one that also sparked the dream of the Hawaiian cultural revival that is still
being navigated today.
So, this canoe that we're sitting on or standing on today is really a dream that was
created by many, many people that went back as far as they could in history, and come
up with the design of a traditional ancient voyaging canoe.
And so, this is [INDISTINCT] to our ancestors.
And making the voyage happen is about tying together the past, present and future.
I love to hear about young people who are already in the water, who are so connected
to it, and want to learn more.
And then, we need young people to take the challenge, to step forward, to take this canoe
away from my generation, and sail it.
It's important for us to learn what he knows, so that we can become explorers and sailors
before, you know, this tradition will just become extinct, and no one will know how great
it was to just sail.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #908 | Kamehameha Schools Maui Middle - Maui | Therapy Dog - Duration: 2:44.
My name is Sue Yoshimura.
I'm co-owner with my husband of Land of Oz Maui, which is a dog daycare center, agility
and training.
Sue Yoshimura helps others through the dogs that she trains.
Sit.
Good boy!
I train dogs, I compete dogs, I do therapy work with dogs.
For Mrs. Yoshimura, dogs hold a special place in her heart.
Oh, I got into doing therapy dogs because eight years ago, when …my mom was in hospice,
and because as I said, we grew up with dogs all our life, and my mom just loves dogs.
And she was in hospice, and it was … probably four or five days before she was passing,
so she was not real strong.
A lady came in with a little dog, and she actually sat up in bed and put the dog on
her lap, and she petted it, and she just kind of lit up.
You know, and to see her be so happy.
And that was the first time I'd really ever seen a therapy dog at work.
So, I wanted to get into it.
[CHUCKLE]
Mrs. Yoshimura helps others through the dogs in the same way that she was helped as a child.
Well, the dogs helped me overcome it by just giving me unconditional love, and giving me
strength by watching how strong they were.
Helping other people helps me by just having a good feeling, knowing that I'm kind of
blessing someone.
You know, to help somebody else, it makes you feel good inside to know that they're
being made happy.
They make me be stronger, because they're such stoic creatures themselves.
Mrs. Yoshimura has advice for anyone who may be experiencing sadness or struggles.
My advice to anyone who's experiencing tough times or have lost someone, I would say, always
look to the Lord first.
That will help you have strength to get through the situation, what's happening on that
time in your life.
'Cause that is only a season in your life, and things will change.
Albert Einstein once said: Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
And for Mrs. Yoshimura, that certainly is the case.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #908 | Kalani High - O'ahu | Stress Relief - Duration: 1:20.
Homework.
Do you have stress in your life?
Are you wondering how you can relieve it?
I'm done.
Here are four ways to relieve stress.
Number one: the counting method.
It's exactly what it sounds like.
You sit down, relax, close your eyes, and quietly count to one hundred in your head.
Number two: music.
Listening to soothing music can have a huge relaxing effect on our minds and bodies.
This type of music can slow the pulse and heart rate, lower blood pressure, and decrease
the level of stress hormones.
[MUSIC]
Number three: chewing gum.
Chewing on a piece of gum may help reduce anxiety, and even improve your mood.
Now, that's something to chew about.
Number four: exercising.
Physical activity such as running may bump up your brain's feel-good chemicals, which
are also called endorphins.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #908 | Saint Francis School - O'ahu | Miss Aloha Hula - Duration: 3:10.
I think the beauty of hula dancing is how your motions tell your story, how your face
tells your story, from your costume to the flowers in your hair,
to what you're dancing about.
It usually connects, and I think that's the beauty in it all.
Hula is a unique and rich part of Hawaiian culture.
Kelina Eldredge, born and raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, shares how hula is not just flowers
and dancing, but an opportunity to tell a story in a unique way.
Dancing in halau, you learn all these other things.
It's not just, you know, pretty fingers and a pretty face.
You have to be pretty inside, too.
And it's hard work to make sure your hips are moving, and your head is straight, and
your shoulders are pulled back, and you're stepping and
moving your hips to the same time.
There's a lot going on.
And while all of that, smiling and doing your motions correctly.
You can create a perfect picture when you dance a hula, and I think that's the ultimate
goal when you're dancing, is to create the perfect picture,
not necessarily be the perfect dancer.
While picture perfection was the goal, Kelina chased and ultimately proved her own perfection
at Hawaii's and the world's most elite hula competition,
representing Halau Hi'iakainamakalehua.
Merrie Monarch is the biggest hula competition.
It's basically, they say, the Olympics of hula.
There's groups from California,
there's groups from all over the place that come and compete.
I had to change how I thought mentally for the Miss Aloha Hula Competition by really
changing how I interpreted things.
So, when Kumu's yelling at us, or getting mad, I would take it so personally.
But thinking that it's not personal, it's just making me a better person,
makes it a little bit easier to take.
Kelina's hard work and grit paid off when she was crowned
2017 Merrie Monarch's Miss Aloha Hula.
Being Miss Aloha Hula 2017 was my greatest accomplishment.
It's probably the hardest I've ever had to work at something, and it's more than
just dancing hula.
I had to work hard and change who I was.
Miss Aloha Hula …
It blows my mind every time, just to even think about it,
because it was a dream, from a little girl.
Just to dance on that stage, you know, was such an honor.
It's a dream that I've had since I was so young, to come true.
And so, anybody who's been lucky enough to have that, it's just amazing.
Ultimately, what I want to do as Miss Aloha Hula is to inspire, you know, young children
that, your dreams can come true.
I never in a million years thought that I would ever get this opportunity,
and it's happened.
So, I want to definitely keep inspiring other people that if you work hard, your dreams
can come true.
Now that this dream has come true, Kelina wants to help others achieve their dreams.

O que fazer em Antuérpia na Bélgica - Duration: 7:18.
Hi, how are you doing? I'm Kely and
you are at Mundo por Kely
[Music]
In this channel, I talk about my life in
The Netherlands and about my trips as well.
Today I'm at Antwerp in
Belgium and I'm going to show you
the places where I have been
[Music]
I'm at the train central station
which is considered one of the most
beautifuls in the world
At the first sign, I didn't like that much but
but after I get in, I did understand why
[Music]
Every European city has a shopping street
Antwert wouldn't be different
that is Antwerp's shopping street
you can find many famous brands, both fancy and affordable ones
Behind me is the old
royal palace
it caught Napoleon's attention
because it is in the city's downtown
today, unfortunately, it is closed for
visitation
you can visit the first floor
where you can find a chocolate store and a café
[Music]
[Music]
Behind me is the Church of
Our Lady of Antwerp. The outside is
impressive and you have to
pay six euros
honestly, for me, it is just another
goth church. You can find similar ones
which you can visit for free
anywhere in Europe
[Music]
The city got its name from a
legend about a giant who toll from
passing boatmen from the
Scheldt river, which is the main local river.
and for those who refused. he severed one of their hands and threw it into the river
One day a brave hero
and defeated the giant
and did the same thing. Cut off his hands
and threw out in the river. The name comes from
the Dutch "hand werpen" which means throw hands
I'm at the Grote Market where you can find
the statue of the hero who I just
told the history, you can also find
the city hall and around the square
many historic buildings and bars
If you want to take a break in your
tour, you can enjoy
the bars and restaurants around here
Behind me is the "Het Steen", where the giant
used to extracted the toll
it is a small castle, but it worth a
visit
just in the entrance you can see the statue
of the giant and two men in front of him
which is to represent the place where the legend
happened
[Music]
There is a museum in the "Het Steen"
which is free, but today it was closed, but
it is never a waste of time take a walk
around the city, because the city always can
surprise you
look how beautiful is the view
The bars at Grote Market are all busy but are quite cosy
So if you're here, since you're in Belgium,
nothing is better than order an
belgian beer.
We stopped to eat the famous Belgian waffles. I'm in a coffee shop
here is nice because you can pay
using you card, different than Brussels
where were most of the time cash
I got my waffle here. It was fast, it was
about 20 minutes
now I'm going to try it
Well this was my day in Antwerp, I hope
that you enjoyed the video and don't forget to
subscribe if you are not subscribed
give a thumbs up, share with
your friends and follow me on the social networks
bye and see you next video!

Shark Tank Three Day Rule Dating Business Needs $200K For 10% Equity - Best of Shark Tank TV - Duration: 9:46.
Best of Shark Tank TV
my name is Val Brennan and I'm co-founder of three-day rule we're
requesting $200,000 in exchange for 10% equity in our company
now we're changing the way that singles and big cities meet I was a lawyer
working 16 hours a day on my career and zero hours a day on my love life I just
didn't have time for mass market dating sites which are filled with millions of
profiles that are fake inactive or people who I'd never date I also didn't
have time to spend yet another Friday night at a bar talking to a guy only to
realize that he had a girlfriend I knew that I wasn't alone and I knew the busy
professionals deserved a better experience which is why we created three
day rule three day rule is unique from other mass-market dating sites because
everyone must be invited or must be endorsed to get in think of it as a
private dating Club with the result being quality pool of extraordinary
singles here's how it works people request membership they go
through a competitive application process once people are accepted they
take a quiz we determine what their type is they receive matches and can start
communicating even with me as the co-founder who is single but they can
start communicating with other singles and quickly go on dates we are ready to
compete in this 3 billion dollar market opportunity and help the 96 million
singles in this country alone find love many questions fell first of all do i
acute from your name the three day rule that perhaps after three dates
I might what's the word I'm looking for
when we read that we don't read three-day roll we read three date rule
date rule now is that what you're implying
no let's clarify any ambiguity so the three day rule with this rule in pop
culture that people thought I can't call somebody for three days because I'll
seem too desperate and waiting by the phone not going out on dates and not
really meeting what you are aware of the three date rule as well the three day
rule is an investment portfolio strategy a third date is when the bond comes down
and summate the deal this is for busy wealthy people for a number of criteria
her demographic is the 12 million people who are making over $50,000 they have to
make over 50 to get in no I mean it's definitely we're marketing to what we're
looking for is people who are established in their career who have had
accomplishments not only their professional life but also in their
personal life or a relationship minded the key differentiator from the other
dating sites is that we actually have an application process or a quiz before you
get on to the site you may find this hard to believe but sometimes guys lie I
know it's horrible do you validate any of that information we do validate the
answers we have additional premium services that will offer an additional
revenue stream for us beyond the subscription fee that we're charging is
actual validation so members will actually have a verified or less that
may extra I get the Liars is what you're saying
we're on robber what's the criteria for women you don't think women lie
I think women tend to be more honest so you're saying some way to put some fake
nails fake eyelash
good point good point how many members do you have now we have about 10,000
people that have submitted applications pay the subscription fee no we're
pre-revenue so long that word pre-revenue we're actually in what it
means is you have no sales we launched about four weeks ago and one of the
things that we wanted to do is build up a core base of users so at this point we
decided that we will not implement a paywall as they call it in the data
Commission currently it so everybody jumps in without pay one of the things
that we had is we had an earlier version of this business and what we had was a
successful offline matchmaking business you had this business before we did we
had events and we also had activities that we had matchmaking and what
happened to it so that business is still existing what's happening is we're
actually scaling that business to this online offering how much is a
subscription $100 is the base subscription or a one-year subscription
no her one month so what you haven't done that yeah you haven't proven that
yet you're actually having our offline model how many members do you have in
that originalism so for that close to 10,000 key and what's your revenue for
that it was about $70,000 from last year are you single
I'm single yes if you're single maybe the product doesn't work yeah maybe
she's too picky David no I've been single because I've been working 16
hours a day and I don't have time to really go out and meet people I have a
website I have actually that was my profile you just saw so you haven't met
your mr. wonderful yet well I profile I started communicating but my business
partner is an expert matchmaker she's in matchmaking for so she has that
knowledge 10,000 people how many signed up for the hundred dollars per year fee
we charge them a thousand dollars for three days
thousand dollars for three right away well you got a cash that check right
away we did so now how long did you do that model we did that model for about a
year and you basically made 70 sales right but we had events and activities
also where we collected a transaction fee and a ticket price complicated did
you make money on the events as well as a revenue generator the online offline
commerce industry is huge it's a three trillion dollars yeah I just don't
understand one thing other sites that we see on TV don't they all do this another
thing what what is the difference the difference is we actually screen people
commenting community those slightly on-screen people you know on screen so
anybody with an email address can log on to some of those mass-market dating
sites just pretend you worked for one of those companies and we said what are
your competitors three-day rule said you don't screen at all what would they say
they probably would agree I don't think so all I care about is money okay so I
mean you're gonna have to explain to me how you make money at some point today
absolutely so I'll take you down the path revenue members will pay $100 per
month they're able to buy subscriptions in one month three months and six-month
increments we estimate people will stay on probably between three and six months
we will make anywhere between 300 and 600 dollars per customer so if you have
two hundred thousand members and you go across 20 major metropolitan cities by
year three you have 20 money it has no anecdotal evidence that that's one you
know about you have the perfect answers but they're all based on theory
I'm looking for a reason to say yes because if there is a way to
differentiate and it's real you got a home run I agree and I think we do but
you haven't proved that one last chance okay and don't tell me you have a
questionnaire and you have algorithms tell me what is it one last chance and
don't tell me you have a questionnaire and you have algorithms tell me what is
it a major selling point our value proposition is that everyone must be
indoors so there's social context around every member you know that that person
has gone through an application process they've been approved there's an
implicit trust that whoever you're meeting is someone who's been vetted so
people don't feel like they're putting themselves out there on a dating site
where everyone can see their love life I just don't think that's strong enough I
think that every matchmaker they would tell you the exact same thing that's
just not enough of a differentiation so for that reason
I don't think three-day roll is ever going to dominate the dating business
online that's already done the guys that have establish scale there now can
squeeze you like a teenage pimple if they want they can do all kinds of
things to you that are gonna hurt if you start to garner share maybe they'll buy
you maybe they'll crush you I don't know but for me that's too big a risk so for
that reason I'm out thank you you're asking $200,000 for 10%
you do understand you're valuing this at two million dollars yeah you're not in
love with evaluation no I don't think so I'll tell you a little bit about the
valuation we already have investors already committed and money in the bank
at a four million dollar valuation and that much have you raised there we've
raised $150,000 four million valuation yes that's right but we realize the
value that you bring to the table so Val you know the saying never trust the
skinny chef right well never invest in a single national
so Val it's been an interesting journey okay
you're a very pleasant I feel like we're on a date right now I'm not clear and I
keep coming back to your just another dating site now we're different you're
different from the mass-market I'd only think you explained that I was looking
for you to say here's all the other dating sites but here's why I'm
different and for me you didn't do that today
for that reason unless you were not convincing here at all and in fact I
would say you were confusing and I was listening hard most importantly the name
is terrible three day rule I'm a girl and I even interpreted the way these
guys interpret their Jay you better put it so for those reasons I know thank you
thank you for your time good luck that
you're dead-on about Fernando I love the name I think if she could guarantee the
three-day rule then she has something
