Soulja Boy. I have not heard your name since middle school, and that was like
mid 2000s. You know, I never thought I'd be cranking a Soulja Boy ever again. How
have you been? How have you been? Oh, so you're not cranking any Soulja Boys
anymore? Oh, you've moved on? No more cranking
Soulja Boys? Well, what have you been up to? You make video game consoles, and you
started your own business? You got to show me this, bro. Thanks. Lemme take a
look. Uh. What happened here, my guy?
Hello fellow nerds, this is Dante, and welcome
to another episode of Y'all Messed Up. And today's topic is Soulja Boy. I don't
want this to be a crazy long video, I just want to chime in on a few things. I
feel like there are other YouTubers that have covered this in great detail, like
ProtoMario and Rerez. I'm pretty sure that's how you say it, but you know
what, this is the Internet. If I did something wrong, they'll let me know. I'll
link their videos on the matter in the description below, so that if you want to
check out their content when you're done here, I encourage you to do so. Soulja Boy.
He's a musician. He had a hit single back in the mid-2000s called "Crank That." I
don't know if you've heard of, "Crank that Soulja Boy." That was him.
He has a fan base that likes his music. You know, I'm happy for him. I'm
glad that he's out here doing what he loves, and I'm glad that there are other
people that appreciate what he does. I'm not one of those people. I just really
wasn't crazy about him to begin with, but recently the musician has decided to
take a plunge into a different market: Gaming. And how does he approach this? By
selling a console. Not just any console. A console that's
available online for cheaper than what he's selling it for. He's stamping his name
on it, and he's loading it with thousands of ROMs, which is super illegal by the
way, and selling it. For those unfamiliar with ROMs, they're essentially games and
they're played on emulators, so it's kind of like how you put a disk in a console.
Essentially, Soulja Boy loaded up some consoles with some ROMs and he's selling
them, which is super illegal, and obviously he's unaware of it.
I mean, I'm gonna go ahead and display some tweets here on the screen, and you
you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Soulja Boy, you deleted those
tweets, but if you knew anything about the internet, you knew somebody was gonna
screenshot em. And if for some reason you're watching this, let me give you a heads up.
Nintendo is going to do sh*t. And they're gonna sh*t on this pathetic excuse of a
console. Nintendo is very protective over its intellectual property, and they have
no problem suing someone over said property. I mean, there was a mod for
Super Smash Brothers, Project M, they got shut down. People, y'know, they make
remakes and hacks of Pokemon. Those get shut down. ProtoMario literally
linked an article about Nintendo suing two sites. Link in the description below.
Nintendo is going to come for you and it's not gonna be pretty,
and don't be surprised if other companies get an invitation, too. Don't be
shocked if those companies jump in the lawsuit - I mean this could be
interesting. It could be all the video game companies... uniting against one evil!
This is getting a little too weird. But in reference to your tweets, this has
nothing to do with you being a black man getting money. Race has no part in this.
The problem here is you doing something highly illegal.
You're completely disregarding all the hard work that all these people put into
these games. You're stealing that content and that property, selling it under your
name, then saying the rightful owners ain't gon do sh*t, and that you're doing
nothing wrong. The problem here is your ignorance and disrespect. Not to mention
your website's atrocious. Let's go and take a look here. If I ever encounter a
website that is this poorly laid out, I would never input my payment details
into this. Like what is this. Soulja Watch. But this is just not how you do a website.
This isn't how you do a website. Your images are potato quality, like I'm just
appalled that you would even be okay releasing this. 3,000 built-in games, the
Soulja Game me me me -- like okay, I can't even read this. This is just too
cringe-worthy. Soulja Boy, I can't wait to hear your next single. It's gonna be
like... SUUUUUUED I'm that Soulja Boy got SUUUUUUED! So guys
and gals, tell me in the comments below what you guys are thinking about this,
because I'm very curious how you are feeling, my fellow nerds. Are there any
other nerds that are feeling a little bit a little bit weird about this little
situation? Because honestly, I am. I think this is... this is not something I would
have ever thought I would have covered ever in an episode of Y'all Messed Up.
I never thought Soulja Boy would have ever come into my life again because he
was relevant back when I was in middle school, and that was... but I never saw
him again. Never saw a headline about him, he should've just taken
his money that he got from that one year and just run with it. He should have just
left it. He could have lived a happy life, and that could have been it, but no, he
decided to make a video game console, and here we are today in 2018. Honestly at
this point, nothing fazes me in 2018 anymore. I'm just wondering how 2019 is
gonna be. I think it's gonna be wild.
What do you guys think? Tell me in the
comments below cuz this is probably going to be my last video for the year.
But hey, that's where we're gonna go ahead and wrap up this episode, so thank
you all for watching, and as always the most important part, have yourself a
blessed day. Now if you're sticking around for a little bit,
I'll go ahead and float the playlist I have Y'all Messed Up right here, so you
can start from the beginning, and on the bottom there's a video. I don't know, I'm
gonna let YouTube decide what it is, and over here on my Christmas tree which is
still up after Christmas, it's gonna be a subscribe button. That's my cue to just shut
up, I'll see you in the next episode.
