another type of packing underwear that you can use.

Now this is specifically called the STP underwear

So it is meant to be worn, umm-

with a stand to pee device.

Now, I'm going to show you what it looks like

with the "Jimmy" STP.

'kay? and I will post that review in the link in the description below.

The reason why I'm going to be showing you specifically

with the "Jimmy", umm-

uhh-

the "Jimmy" is because all of the other STP's that I have are gigantic

FreeToM? and they just-- it wouldn't fit

and it's too big and it's too heavy.

and then the "Peecock" could fit in it

but honestly the best one that worked with these underwear

in my opinion, is this one.

Even the "EZP" wouldn't work with this one,

because it's the way that it's positioned

ummm

it's- it's- it's-

it's just positioned more appropriate, honestly for the Jim-[cat noises]

...my... STP..

you can also pack with these underwear

but they're more made for

for STP's--

So this is what they look like,

if we look inside, and it's a little bit hard

because they sent me the black ones,

and I'm not sure if they come in any other color

okay

but if we look at the inside of them

'kay, let me stand up right now

see they have a little pouch

here

and in the pouch is where you're gonna put the STP

and then it goes through the hole

and then there's another pouch

so it's like- it's-it's very similar to the FTM Downunder underwear

except this has an actual pouch

where as the FTM Downunder underwear it's like an O ring

so you put the prosthetic in there

and then you put it in the pouch over here

alright so I'm going to show you what it actually looks like in your pants though

'kay so here's the thing,

they sent me like the size that's just a little bit too small for me

so it is a little bit

uhh

tight

and I'm feeling a little bit self-conscious

but let's just.. let's just not talk about it.

So I did actually show these underwear in the "Jimmy" STP review

ummm

I think that the bulge looks really big

but when you're wearing skinny jeans or pants

it does squish it down

alright, so what's really great about this is that, like I said

it goes in the pouch

so there is a little pouch

that the Jimmy STP will go in

or any other STP

that kind of looks like this. That's very similar

and this is why I'm saying that the EZP wouldn't fit this

Because the EZP is like flat

So I can show you what it'll look like with the EZP but it doesn't really look that good

And then there is a pouch in the underwear that you put that in

eh, there ya go!

then it just kind of holds everything tight.

So that's a really important thing for me is that it holds everything tight

And then when you're ready to pee you can just slide it out like this and it does take a couple of times to

to get used to it

And then you do that squat thing that you do to pee and then you let it go.

I've peed twice with these underwear and I have not leaked anywhere

Because- I mean, this is just really the Jimmy STP

and

I haven't leaked anywhere

Uh, which is really great! Because a lot of packing underwear that I've tried it just doesn't work.

But if you really want to see what it would look like with the EZP over here from Transthetics

I'm gonna try this 'cause I haven't tried this before

This is what it would look like. You see? It kind of falls out

And then you would have to put it in the pouch

and I guess you would be packing.. downwards?

Which is not a very comfortable place to be packing

And then if you wanna pee

Yeah, yeah, after a couple times you're able to maneuver it a little bit

but also the hole of these underwear is-is-is a little tight

But I'm gonna say it's because they probably sent me like the wrong size

Umm. I think it's just because- I- they sent me the- the ones that are just one size too small for me

So I think that this hole is actually a-a little bit bigger

The EZP doesn't really pack well with it

So, yeah.. So you would need to have a packer that- or an STP, sorry- that's very similar to the Jimmy

But I know ya'll are curious so I'm gonna put the- this is the Peecock

Although, the issue with this is that I do feel like this would fly out

of the side so that I wouldn't really recommend

It's just you really just gotta position it a couple of times and you have to work it

You really need one that has, like, the balls like this

so that it's easy to put in and that this can go down and pack

Umm, the Transthetics one you can, kind of, maneuver it

But it- It is gonna take a little bit of practice

But I, honestly, I would really recommend

pairing the Jimmy STP

with this STP underwea- underwear by RodeoH

Unless you have another STP that works with this.

another type of packing underwear that you can use.

Now this is specifically called the STP underwear

So it is meant to be worn, umm-

with a stand to pee device.

Now, I'm going to show you what it looks like

with the "Jimmy" STP.

The reason why I'm going to be showing you specifically

with the "Jimmy", umm-

the "Jimmy" is because all of the other STP's that I have are gigantic

FreeToM? and they just-- it wouldn't fit

and it's too big and it's too heavy.

and then the "Peecock" could fit in it

but honestly the best one that worked with these underwear

in my opinion, is this one.

Even the "EZP" wouldn't work with this one,

because it's the way that it's positioned

it's- it's- it's-

it's just positioned more appropriate, honestly for the Jim-[cat noises]

and in the pouch is where you're gonna put the STP

and then it goes through the hole

and then there's another pouch

so it's like- it's-it's very similar to the FTM Downunder underwear

except this has an actual pouch

where as the FTM Downunder underwear it's like an O ring

so you put the prosthetic in there

and then you put it in the pouch over here

alright so I'm going to show you what it actually looks like in your pants though

'kay so here's the thing,

they sent me like the size that's just a little bit too small for me

so it is a little bit

tight

and I'm feeling a little bit self-conscious

but let's just.. let's just not talk about it.

So I did actually show these underwear in the "Jimmy" STP review

ummm

I think that the bulge looks really big

but when you're wearing skinny jeans or pants

it does squish it down

alright, so what's really great about this is that, like I said

it goes in the pouch

so there is a little pouch

that the Jimmy STP will go in

or any other STP

that kind of looks like this. That's very similar

and this is why I'm saying that the EZP wouldn't fit this

Because the EZP is like flat

So I can show you what it'll look like with the EZP but it doesn't really look that good

And then there is a pouch in the underwear that you put that in

eh, there ya go!

then it just kind of holds everything tight.

So that's a really important thing for me is that it holds everything tight

And then when you're ready to pee you can just slide it out like this and it does take a couple of times to

to get used to it

And then you do that squat thing that you do to pee and then you let it go.

I've peed twice with these underwear and I have not leaked anywhere

Because- I mean, this is just really the Jimmy STP

and

I haven't leaked anywhere

Uh, which is really great! Because a lot of packing underwear that I've tried it just doesn't work.

But if you really want to see what it would look like with the EZP over here from Transthetics

I'm gonna try this 'cause I haven't tried this before

This is what it would look like. You see? It kind of falls out

And then you would have to put it in the pouch

and I guess you would be packing.. downwards?

Which is not a very comfortable place to be packing

And then if you wanna pee

but also the hole of these underwear is-is-is a little tight

So I think that this hole is actually a-a little bit bigger

So, yeah.. So you would need to have a packer that- or an STP, sorry- that's very similar to the Jimmy

Why a storm surge can be the deadliest part of a hurricane - Duration: 4:01.

In late August 2005, Hurricane Katrina was moving its way across the Gulf coast.

It was classified as a Category 3 storm.

Dangerous, but in a region with a long history of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes, it wasn't

expected to be the most intense.

Katrina was only one day away from the Louisiana coast when the mayor of New Orleans issued

an evacuation order.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

The sea level had already risen in a phenomenon called storm surge.

Water rapidly rose up against the city's levees, a series of walls designed to keep the area

from flooding.

Before Katrina made landfall, the levees broke.

A wall of water rushed into the city, trapping thousands.

What followed was one of the worst natural disasters in US history.

"We're expecting storm surge of 20 to 30 feet high"

"Flood waters are drenching city streets

"A levee broke during the height of the storm"

"There are bodies...uh... floating in the water there."

Storm surge was the main cause of death during Hurricane Katrina.

In fact it can be the most dangerous part of any hurricane.

It occurs when strong winds from an approaching hurricane push water into the shore.

As the sea rises, a bulge of water sweeps over coastal areas, causing destruction along

the way.

These are the normal astronomical tides at Dauphin Island to the east of New Orleans.

When you compare them to the water levels during hurricane Katrina — you can see the

dramatic rise.

That's the storm surge.

What makes this rise dangerous is that it starts to build up before the hurricane makes

landfall

So the coastal flooding from it can make evacuation procedures and the impact of a hurricane much

worse.

In 2008, hurricane Ike caused a big storm surge around Galveston, TX a day before landfall.

The rising water cut off evacuation routes stranding hundreds.

More recently, the National Hurricane Center issued dire warnings for the storm surge accompanying

Hurricane Irma, the most powerful storm to ever rage through the Atlantic Ocean.

A storm surge can also be unpredictable.

Rising sea levels caused by global warming increase the risk of storm surge.

But there are many factors that can change its size and strength.

For example, the largest one recorded before Katrina was about 22 feet, during Hurricane

Camille in 1969.

But Camille was a category 5 storm with 190 mph winds.

Katrina was only a category 3 with 130 mph winds, but it had a storm surge of about 28

Katrina had slower winds than Camille but it was twice as wide, which dramatically increased

the storm surge.

These calculations help forecasters warn communities at risk.

But they're often not enough to prevent damage on the ground.

This map shows the highest storm surge events worldwide since 1880.

In the US, the eastern and southeastern coastlines are among the most vulnerable areas for storm

surges in the world.

Along the east coast, hurricane Sandy got its strength from a massive storm surge in

2012.

On the Gulf Coast side, places like Texas and South Florida have seen multiple hurricanes

so they've built infrastructure to help defend against excessive flooding.

Levees and seawalls are designed to stop or redirect rising water away from cities.

But even those can be inadequate, as seen during hurricanes Katrina and more recently,

Harvey.

What really concerns experts, though, are places that don't experience a lot of hurricanes

but are still vulnerable to storm surge.

This map shows that in the event of a big hurricane, based on the characteristics of

the shoreline, the coasts of Northwest Florida and Georgia would be at comparable risk to

the Gulf Coast.

These areas have shallow water, which means sea level can rise faster and water can reach

further inland making the flooding worse.

But they've seen fewer hurricanes than the Gulf Coast and they are likely to be less

prepared.

So when a major hurricane like Irma hits low-lying areas like these, the storm surge can be the

first and deadliest thing headed their way.

CAPTURING AN ANT-EATING SNAKE! - Duration: 11:06.

Welcome everyone to the AntsCanada Ant Channel.

Behold this terrarium, initially designed to become the bountiful home of one of our

ant colonies.

Over the past couple of months though, we have found it to breathe with of a sort of

mysterious life energy.

Creatures live within it, feed, and proliferate in these lands, but it seems, the most odd

occurrences keep happening every time we attempt to introduce an ant colony into these lands.

And here slithers the terrarium's latest oddity: a tiny snake, which we found one night wandering

around the moss.

It had likely been intoduced to the tank via a trojan horse by way of the ficus which was

planted during the creation of these territories.

Though it may be mistaken for a worm, make no mistake, this is indeed a serpent and also

an ant baby-eater!

As soon as we identified this snake as a threat to our Titans, a young Asian Marauder Ant

colony that is in the process of rehabilitating in these territories, we went on a snake hunt

to try to get rid of this lethal beast, but almost as if the terrarium had a mind of its

own, in our previous video Ants vs Snake, as I tore the terrarium apart to find the

snake, it managed slip away without me noticing.

In fact, you guys at home watching pointed out the snake to me in the video, and I hadn't

even noticed even during editing that the snake had eluded me undetected.

Which then brings us to last week's video.

Out of nowhere I spotted the serpent again, and this time, I was determined to catch it,

and today nothing was going to stand in my way of finally capturing our ant killer.

I acted quickly, and as soon as the snake felt the vibrations of my approach, like a

rock it amazingly plunged deep into a worm hole.

I instantly went to ground to chase it.

I dug up the earth, and scoured all the soil I upturned.

I saw a lot of creatures in the soil, including earthworms, but couldn't find the snake.

It was too fast!

I thought I had lost it for sure.

But then, about 5 minutes later, out of nowhere...

Success.

Behold, our ant-feeding beast.

I couldn't believe we actually captured it.

Wow!

Look at it move!

Time to study this creature, AC Family.

Let's have a closer look.

This is Indotyphlops braminus, commonly known as the brahminy blind snake.

These nonvenomous snakes are completely fossorial animals, meaning they are obligate burrowers,

living most of their life underground.

They are known as blind snakes because of the fact that they have poor vision, and are

known to only distinguish light and dark and perhaps some shapes.

Other common names include common blind snake, island blind snake, Hawaiian blind snake,

and flower pot snake, a name they got due to the fact that this species of snake has

been incidentally introduced to various parts of the world through the plant trade, hitching

rides in soils of plant pots, which is how it ended up in our terrarium.

When I had first seen it crawling around, I initially didn't know what to make of it,

as it didn't seem to possess a pronounced head.

In fact, at first, I had thought it was some kind of long millipede, but what finally screamed

snake to me was its tiny tongue which frequently flicked out to smell the world as it slithered

about.

Upon further research, I found out that these guys happen to be native to the Philippines

where I live, and are, to my surprise, also quite common here.

They frequently appear above ground during rainy season when they are forced out of their

burrows due to flooding.

They also are native to other parts of Asia and Africa.

They are known to occur in both urban and agricultural areas, and often live inside

ant and termite nests.

They are also found under logs, moist leaves, humus in wet forests, dry jungles, and even

city gardens, which means our terrarium here was a perfect home for it, and with the Titans,

our Asian Marauder ants living here, the snake had a good supply of food to rely on.

The amazing thing about this snake species is it is parthenogenic, meaning they can breed

without the presence of a partner.

In fact, all specimens collected so far have been female.

They lay eggs or may bear live young.

Up to eight offspring are produced - all female and all genetically identical to mom.

Yes, these snakes literally clone themselves!

I had hoped this snake hadn't had the opportunity to lay its eggs or bear young in the terrarium.

Only time would tell, but for now, we had the serpent in our possession.

I added some soil so it could burrow and feel comfortable while we decided what exactly

we were going to do with the snake.

In the Ants vs Snake video I asked you, the AC Family, what we should do with the snake.

Should we release it into the wild, and some of you expressed concern over the fact that

the snake wasn't native so release would have been destructive, but now you know they are

and it would have been safe to release.

Another option I presented was if we should use it to control the population of some of

our other super colonies which were growing profusely unchecked.

Finally, I also proposed that we unleash the snake in the area where the wild black crazy

ant colony which killed our Jawbreakers were living.

Surprisingly, by a landslide, the AC Family chose retribution, vengeance for the blood

of the Jawbreakers.

You guys demanded for the snake to feed on the babies of the savage black crazy ant colony.

So your wish was my command.

I carefully dumped the contents of the container onto a large surface so I could isolate the

snake to properly transplant it into one of the pots on my balcony where I knew the black

crazy ants had set up one of their satellite nests.

I worked carefully, and was prepared for the very agile snake to jump out of the rubble

at any moment.

Where was it?

But AC Family, what I found shocked me, for in the dirt laid the lifeless body of our

Brahminy snake.

It had died in the container overnight.

Oh man.

I'm not sure why it died.

The container was properly ventilated, out of the sun, and had relatively the same moisture

level as that within the terrarium.

Perhaps, the snake had gone a long time without food?

Perhaps it had died of natural causes, old age?

I didn't know, but in a strange way, I felt really sad discovering it had died.

Ironic to think that I once saw it as a beast and direct threat to our Titans, but in this

moment, I was feeling a bit of remorse and guilt somehow.

With the snake now dead, I thought for a moment what I should do with the snake.

Should I throw it in the trash?

I held it in my hand for a bit.

Then I looked towards the terrarium, and there was what felt like the right choice.

I decided to bury it in the terrarium from which it came and lived for its last couple

months of its life.

It seems whatever this terrarium provided the snake, was keeping it alive all this time,

and once it was removed from the terrarium, it died.

Right before buring it, I suddenly noticed something.

I could finally see its face.

Little eyes and a sort of smiling mouth.

Prior to this moment, I had not seen a face nor even a distinguishable head, but now the

snakes face was made visible, and seeing its face suddenly made me feel so sad.

AC Family, don't you guys feel sad?

It's like the creature suddenly in my mind had a personality and spirit that had passed,

and it was tragic.

As I began to bury the creature, it dawned on me that this animal was no beast, but an

innocent life form.

It wasn't bad for desiring the young of ants.

It was born to eat ant babies, that was its role in nature, and it was just living its

life the way it knew how.

It made me realize in that moment that in the natural world nobody, no party, no creature,

plant nor lifeform, is the bad guy.

Even the savage black crazy ants that killed our Jawbreakers were also just doing what

they needed to do to live.

It wasn't their fault for wanting, well needing rather to kill our Jawbreakers.

Look at these weeds that have been springing up like an eye sore interupting the aesthetic

flow of our terrarium we constructed.

They weren't bad plants.

It's not their fault they're doing so well in an unoccupied space.

Though we humans can't help but be an empathic species at times, it does seem that in life,

all living things are the good guys, and we can sometimes forget that.

It's ant love forever.

Now this is specifically called the STP underwear

So it is meant to be worn, umm-

with a stand to pee device.

Now, I'm going to show you what it looks like

with the "Jimmy" STP.

The reason why I'm going to be showing you specifically

with the "Jimmy", umm-

uhh-

the "Jimmy" is because all of the other STP's that I have are gigantic

FreeToM? and they just-- it wouldn't fit

and it's too big and it's too heavy.

and then the "Peecock" could fit in it

but honestly the best one that worked with these underwear

in my opinion, is this one.

Even the "EZP" wouldn't work with this one,

because it's the way that it's positioned

ummm

it's- it's- it's-

it's just positioned more appropriate, honestly for the Jim-[cat noises]

...my... STP..

you can also pack with these underwear

but they're more made for

ummmmm

for STP's--

So this is what they look like,

if we look inside, and it's a little bit hard

because they sent me the black ones,

and in the pouch is where you're gonna put the STP

and then it goes through the hole

and then there's another pouch

so it's like- it's-it's very similar to the FTM Downunder underwear

except this has an actual pouch

where as the FTM Downunder underwear it's like an O ring

so you put the prosthetic in there

and then you put it in the pouch over here

alright so I'm going to show you what it actually looks like in your pants though

'kay so here's the thing,

they sent me like the size that's just a little bit too small for me

so it is a little bit

uhh

tight

and I'm feeling a little bit self-conscious

but let's just.. let's just not talk about it.

So I did actually show these underwear in the "Jimmy" STP review

ummm

I think that the bulge looks really big

but when you're wearing skinny jeans or pants

it does squish it down

alright, so what's really great about this is that, like I said

it goes in the pouch

so there is a little pouch

that the Jimmy STP will go in

or any other STP

that kind of looks like this. That's very similar

and this is why I'm saying that the EZP wouldn't fit this

Because the EZP is like flat

So I can show you what it'll look like with the EZP but it doesn't really look that good

And then there is a pouch in the underwear that you put that in

eh, there ya go!

then it just kind of holds everything tight.

So that's a really important thing for me is that it holds everything tight

And then when you're ready to pee you can just slide it out like this and it does take a couple of times to

to get used to it

And then you do that squat thing that you do to pee and then you let it go.

I've peed twice with these underwear and I have not leaked anywhere

Because- I mean, this is just really the Jimmy STP

and

I haven't leaked anywhere

Uh, which is really great! Because a lot of packing underwear that I've tried it just doesn't work.

But if you really want to see what it would look like with the EZP over here from Transthetics

I'm gonna try this 'cause I haven't tried this before

This is what it would look like. You see? It kind of falls out

And then you would have to put it in the pouch

and I guess you would be packing.. downwards?

Which is not a very comfortable place to be packing

And then if you wanna pee

I guess you can like-

Yeah, yeah, after a couple times you're able to maneuver it a little bit

but also the hole of these underwear is-is-is a little tight

But I'm gonna say it's because they probably sent me like the wrong size

Umm. I think it's just because- I- they sent me the- the ones that are just one size too small for me

So I think that this hole is actually a-a little bit bigger

The EZP doesn't really pack well with it

So that- that- that doesn't- like, it's not SUPER bad

So, yeah.. So you would need to have a packer that- or an STP, sorry- that's very similar to the Jimmy

But I know ya'll are curious so I'm gonna put the- this is the Peecock

So you put that in there

I s- I- this isn't hard! I'm just trying to put it in the pouch to make sure it stays in the pouch

It's kind of already positioned

Uh, for you to pee and go

Although, the issue with this is that I do feel like this would fly out

of the side so that I wouldn't really recommend

It's just you really just gotta position it a couple of times and you have to work it

And for shits and giggles let's try the Natural by ummm

But it- It is gonna take a little bit of practice

But I, honestly, I would really recommend

pairing the Jimmy STP

with this STP underwea- underwear by RodeoH

Unless you have another STP that works with this.

I'm making s'mores in my oven

we just need two ingredients 1 cup of chocolate chip and some marshmallows.

Take a small bake ware it could be of glass, it could be of metal or even an

iron skillet ,grease it really well, Put one cup of chocolate chip in it and then

arrange your marshmallows on top of it

I've already preheated my oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit and now I will bake

it for five to seven minutes.

I'll keep an eye on the pan and I will take it out when I see a beautiful brown

color on my marshmallows

My s'mores are ready and now it's time to enjoy it with some graham crackers

How To Start Investing

There's a myth that you know you have to have a lot of

money to start investing but that's not true you can actually start with

whatever money you have right now..

So when I started investing I was focusing

on stocks because everyone was talking about right.. Everyone brother sister my

cousins.. EVERYONE was investing on stocks but

later on I realized that stock is not really the best thing for me it might

not be for you because number one it's time-consuming you have to spend time

researching companies can't just you know go online and invest on random

companies you have to do research you have to think about their upcoming

launches and all that good stuff before you can actually you know invest on in

stock so it's time-consuming and too much time research..

#2 Wolf of

Wall Street!!! Now a lot of people think that when it comes to investing they

think about penny stocks but think about it in order to actually make money from

penny stock you have to actually invest a lot of money and a lot of people

invest like $5-10 it's not really worth it think about it it

actually costs about $10 to buy the stock and sell it off so at the end

you're left with nothing lost

#3 stocks are very risky so if

you don't do your research you can actually lose a lot of money overnight

So what should you be investing your money? Real Estate and that's what I

do and that's what you should do if you want to make a lot of money now why real

estate #1 steady steady and number two it's safe so when it comes to

real estate there are actually two ways how you can make money number one is

flipping the property so basically what that means is that you buy an

undervalued property or you buy a distressed property or you actually buy

a broken-down property and you get it fixed through a contractor and you make

that chunk of profit now #2 leasing it out or renting the property

so in this case what you should do is buy a nice property house apartments and

so on and so on and then rent it out - so you actually aren't

recurring income each month now keep in mind when you're earning that recurring

income you're actually also building your equity right so you're not losing

it out now let's say for example the value of the property goes up in like

2-3 years you can actually sell that entire property and make a HUGE

profit

So where do you get this money to start investing? Remember what we talked

about at the beginning you don't need a lot of money to start now even if you

have couple hundred dollars or a couple thousand dollars what you can do is put

the portion of that money into investor groups these are special people

experienced people who actually go out and find their property they invest on

this property with your money and other people's money and they pay you a

dividend each month meaning you get a small chunk of your profit deposited

into your bank account another way to start investing is crowdfunding in this

scenario what you do is you become the investor and you get funding from other

people into your properties so the way I want you to start off is basically you

know get money from your friends family uncle aunts or what you can do is if

they cannot invest you can actually get online and find people through these

crowdfunding websites who will invest in your property for you to actually buy a

property and lease it out or flip it and you actually distribute the dividends to

those people at the end of the month another way to start investing on real

estate is getting a mortgage now as long as you have a decent credit and some

sort of job a local bank should be able to give you a small or mid-sized loan to

buy either a property or usually a house now once you have purchased that house

or a property what you do it is you go ahead and lease it out to someone else

now that tenant will actually pay for your mortgage you'll have some money to

put in your pocket as well now over time in a couple years what you can do is

sell our property off to buy a bigger property

There you have!!! So that's how

you start investing now remember guys don't let that money doesn't matter how

much that in your bank or put it under a bed actually invest it now think of

money as your servants now every dollar bill should

actually work for you and their children should work for you as well got it now

EP059: Comic Book Origins - Batman - Duration: 7:33.

Hello everyone!

And welcome to the MajestiComic channel, where we profile heroes and villains from every

comic book genre, franchise, and universe.

Today, we are profiling perhaps one of the most important and influential characters

in all of comic book history: Batman.

Last year we did a tribute video to Batman on Batman Day that explored how the Dark Knight

came to be and what he means to people of all ages and from all walks of life.

In this video, though, we want to focus more on his origin story, and what made young Bruce

Wayne into the dark, brooding hero he is today.

Created in 1939 by Bill Finger and Robert Kane, Batman is one of the oldest superheroes

in comics – even though he is not technically quote –unquote "super" at all.

He is just a normal human man with incredible talents and strengths that he developed entirely

on his own, in the interest of revenge.

Batman made his first appearance in Detective Comics, issue number 27 in 1939 and his character

quickly swept the nation.

Soon, he had his own quarterly comic line, and soon after that the comic began being

published bimonthly, then eventually monthly, as fans just could not get enough of him.

As his popularity grew, so did the amount of details readers were given about his tragic

backstory.

As most people know, Bruce Wayne lost his parents as a child, and this inspired him

to take up the mantle of Batman as an adult.

But what happened in the meantime to mold him into the man he came to be?

Let's take a closer look at his origin story and find out.

Bruce Wayne's story begins when he is eight years old.

He and his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, are returning from a trip to the movies when

they take a different path home than usual, and end up in what would later be called Crime

Alley.

Thomas Wayne is a wealthy man, a philanthropist with his own corporation called Wayne Enterprises.

He and his wife are not the type of people one would normally find in that low-income,

crime-ridden part of town, and so they quickly catch the eye of a thug named Joe Chill.

Joe Chill spots Martha's pearl necklace, and advances on her with a gun.

Like any devoted husband would do, Thomas steps in front of her to shield her, and Chill

shoots him.

Martha screams, and Chill shoots her as well, saying that that will quote "shut her up."

Then he runs away, and young Bruce is left alone with the bodies of his parents, orphaned

in the span of just a few moments.

Arrangements are made for Bruce to stay in his own home, with Alfred Pennyworth the butler

as his caretaker and guardian.

He inherits the massive family fortune, as well as the ownership of Wayne Enterprises,

but this all felt hollow to him.

As eight year old Bruce Wayne stood at the gravesite of his parents, he swore to them

that they would be avenged, and that he would be the one to avenge them.

Although he was only a child, the prospect of getting revenge for his parents' murders

never left his mind.

He could never find happiness, only purpose.

At the tender age of fourteen, young Bruce set out on a twelve-year trip that would take

him around the world.

This was no pleasure trip, though, nor was it an escape.

What it was was more like a research mission.

Bruce sought out experts in every field from academics to hand to hand combat and began

to train himself mentally and physically.

He went to several European colleges to become as smart as he could, and he trained with

masters of stealth and various fighting styles to become as physically agile and strong as

he could.

He learned hunting, fighting, and even healing, and when he finally returned to Gotham City,

he was ready to fulfil his destiny.

Or so he thought.

Bruce became a plainclothes vigilante, fighting crime in Gotham by night, but this still wasn't

right.

He still wasn't satisfied.

He believed that villains were quote "a cowardly and superstitious lot," so he knew

that they would never be afraid enough of someone who was just a man – regardless

of how incredible his fighting skills were.

He needed something more, something more frightening, some sort of gimmick that would terrify any

criminal that even considered committing a crime in his hometown.

For a while, he was stymied.

He couldn't come up with any way to make himself any more intimidating than he already

was.

Then, one night while he was brooding in his father's study, a bat crashed through the

window.

Bruce had been afraid of bats since he was a child, and this seemed to him to be a sign.

He would take the thing that scared him and embrace it, and he would use it to scare others,

and to avenge his parents' deaths.

Since money was no object, Bruce used the most advanced technology available to create

a bat-inspired costume for himself, along with dozens of high-tech gadgets and weapons.

He then took all of his brooding energy and anger and put it into a new identity, one

that would enable him to fight crime in the city by night as he maintained his status

as a billionaire playboy philanthropist by day.

At that moment, he embraced his destiny and became Batman.

As both Batman and Bruce Wayne, it was Bruce's goal to completely eradicate crime from Gotham

City.

This seems like an impossible goal, as Gotham is a city full of crime and foul deeds, but

this didn't stop him.

Even now, almost eighty years after he was created, Batman is still fighting that crime.

It is the one thing that sustains him, his only reason for living.

He rarely has romantic attachments due to the fact that he can only really focus on

this one goal (despite the fact that he dated one of his nemeses, Catwoman, and eventually

has a child with Talia al Ghul, as you will know from our video on Damian Wayne), and

the only real personal relationships he maintains are with Alfred, his butler, guardian, and

friend, and Dick Greyson, his original sidekick known as Robin.

Bruce is completely consumed by the desire to rid Gotham of evil, and this means that

he will never really be satisfied, or be able to settle down.

He is a dark, brooding character, and although he was lightened up for a while in the 1960s

due to the campy Batman tv show, he always returns to those dark, brooding roots.

Eventually, though, his desire to stop crime spreads out from the borders of Gotham City,

and he becomes a founding member of the Justice League, uniting heroes of all types to fight

together against evil.

He founds several other superhero groups as well, but he is best known for working alone

or with Robin, who is perhaps one of the few people who can relate to him, due to having

lost his own parents as a child as well.

Unlike most other superheroes out there, Batman has no supernatural powers or strengths.

He is just a man on a mission to right a wrong, and to save the city he calls home.

In a way, this makes him even more powerful than Superman, Wonder Woman, and his other

contemporaries, because aside from his wealth, Bruce Wayne doesn't start out with anything

other than what the rest of us have.

But he uses these things to become better than what he was, and to right terrible wrongs,

which is something that Batman fans can all take inspiration from, and the reason why

he is still such a popular character after all these years.
