Hey everybody! Sam here from Sugar Spun Run and today I'll be showing you how to make homemade pumpkin spice.
It's finally fall and that means pumpkin spice everything, as you probably already know.
I have a bunch of pumpkin recipes coming up for you.
I've already shared my pumpkin cheesecake recipe, and
one thing most of these recipes use that you might not already have on hand is pumpkin pie spice.
While you can buy pumpkin pie spice pre-made at the store today,
I want to show you how to make it at home. The nice thing about this is you probably already have the spices in your
cabinet, and it's also so much cheaper to make pumpkin spice at home rather than to buy it from the store.
You're only going to need four spices for today's recipe.
So let's go ahead and get started. The very first thing you're going to need is a tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
We'll pour this into a small bowl and
next we'll need some ground ginger. This recipe uses 1 and 3/4 TSP of ground ginger.
So add that in with your cinnamon a teaspoon of nutmeg, and a teaspoon of allspice.
Now these are the only spices that I use to make pumpkin pie spice, and anytime I've ever bought it from the store,
these are usually the four spices that are included in the mix. Now, if you want you can add a pinch of cloves.
I know that some pumpkin pie spice recipes call for cloves.
I found that it kind of makes the taste border a little bit own more of a gingerbread taste rather than on a pumpkin pie taste.
So I don't love using cloves and that's why I leave them out of this recipe.
Once you have all your spices together in your bowl, you can use a whisk or a spoon to stir them together.
And make sure they're really well combined.
My pumpkin spice recipe makes about two tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice,
which I found is usually more than enough for your average pumpkin recipe.
The nice thing is that any extra will store well in an airtight container and I also often like to double this recipe or even triple the recipe,
Because it'll keep well all fall long and then I'll already have pre-made pumpkin spice waiting for me whenever I need it.
I've actually already made a few batches of pumpkin pie spice that I've been using.
So I'm just going to add this new batch to that.
And hopefully this is enough to get me through this season.

Aaron Ramsey is heading for the Arsenal exit door - possibly as early as January.The Wales international, who is out of contract in the summer, had looked set to extend his stay with the Gunners by signing a new long-term deal
An agreement was all but reached, only for Arsenal to dramatically put an end to the negotiations by withdrawing the offer that was on the table
The decision means Ramsey will be leaving north London after a decade long stay, either on a free transfer next summer or for a drastically reduced fee during the January transfer window
So how could Arsenal replace the former Cardiff City man, who has been playing in a No.10 role behind the central striker this season? We take a look
Ozil at No.10. Unai Emery does have a few options within his current squad when it comes to replacing Ramsey
The obvious choice is Mesut Ozil, who has so far been operating on the right hand side of the front three under Emery, despite preferring to play as the No.10
There is a notion that Ramsey and Ozil struggle to play in the same side, given both like to do their work centrally, so the Wales international leaving could allow Ozil to move inside
Emery could then play with Alex Iwobi or Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right of his front three
We were given a look into the future when Arsenal hosted Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round
Unai Emery handed Emile Smith Rowe his first senior start, with the 18-year-old playing in the Ramsey role behind Danny Welbeck
Smith Rowe is a prodigious talent, a player likened to Kevin De Bruyne, who having started out as a winger has flourished in recent years after being moved into a No.10 role at youth level
Throwing Smith Rowe straight into the first-team may seem unlikely, given his age and lack of experience, but it's not like it's something that hasn't been done before
Nelson's return.It's not just Smith Rowe who Arsenal have high hopes for, there is another young attacker who the club believe will go on to big things with the first-team
We've all seen Reiss Nelson's talents and the reason he has been allowed to spend the season on loan at Hoffenheim is so he can play regularly at a top level side and return to Arsenal next summer ready to make his mark in the Premier League
Since moving to Germany, Nelson has already scored his first Bundesliga goal, been handed his first start and made his Champions League debut
The teenager has stated before that he sees himself as a No.10 and so will have high hopes of returning to England next summer and making a real bid for a starting spot at the Emirates
The big money signing.It is highly conceivable that Arsenal have decided not to push through on the deal with Ramsey because they have identified another player who they want to bring in for next season
With the wage bill already bulging at the Emirates, tying Ramsey down to a long-term deal at over £200,000 a week would have drastically limited what Arsenal could have done in the transfer market next summer
So this decision could be to free up cash to bring someone in who Emery sees as more suited to his plans going forward
Cristian Pavon, the Argentine winger at Boca Juniors, is admired by Arsenal, while the north London club are also said to be keeping tabs on Rennes' young attacker Ismaila Sarr is also believed to be a target
Either of those could come in and play out wide in 2019/20, allowing Ozil or Mkhitaryan to take up the No.10 role vacated by Ramsey
Then you have the likes of Nabil Fakir at Lyon, who looks certain to leave France next summer, or Emery's former favourite at Sevilla, Ever Banega, who could be an option
So there are plenty of players available and it could be that Arsenal have decided that the money they had put aside for Ramsey, is best served being spent elsewhere
