it it was inevitable we knew it was gonna snow a little bit up here in the
northwest while I was here it's kind of pretty I guess I'm ready to go back
south though oh I'm very ready
I mean don't get me wrong I think the snow is beautiful
I just don't like driving on it I'm actually driving down a back road
here in Mason County a neighboring County to Thurston
it snowed pretty good last night and it is still snowing here 10:00 a.m.
although it's supposed to all turn to rain sunshine later 50 degrees and all
this will be gone and the roads are just wet there's no ice because it's 38
degrees right now I'm actually surprised it's physically still snowing
but this doesn't worry me so much I don't like driving on ice that's what I
don't like appears to be no chance of ice out here
just slush as the snow starts to melt
but I'm in no hurry to get back to my po box just yet
all of my packages have not arrived yet and I can't really boondock in Thurston
County so Jax and I are gonna stay out here
yes it's fun it's cool I don't mind a little bit of snow just
take it really easy yes I see it's already it's already
clear enough the snow has stopped starting to rain I'm going to pull in
here to the Elma rest area and this is one of the things I have missed on the
road that Washington state just knocks out of the ball park and that is these rest
stops with free RV dumps and drinking water I mean...
Just doesn't happen you can find them in other states but nearly every highway rest area...
look at it's four lanes wide yep so I'll dump my tanks get a fresh start
yeah 58 gallons of water and good for another 10 to 14 days yeah there we go
we are basically transitioning into rain now and rain expected for the next four
days but guess what guys this video is going to include about the last three
days of here in Washington so in my next video in two days for y'all we'll be out
of Washington already so if you don't mind sticking around to the end of this
video I'll get the last part of what I got to get taken care of here and then
looking forward to getting back down south alright let's try to stay warm and
dry today yeah so this is my new gear guys just wanted to show you some of
this stuff I got the new helmet with the smoke lens I don't know where this nice
sunshine came from but I'm not gonna complain for the snow break here it's
just really cold all of my mom's out there on the YouTube world so to speak
are gonna be happy that I have the proper gear and it all matches and looks
good so yeah I got the gloves to start with I got the good full face helmet I
got the nice jacket that will protect me the Yamaha pants and of course those
boots good to go alright some other things I got going on
here I bought a pair of chains actually have
another pair on the way the exact same ones and I'm not sure legally if I have
to have him on the inside and outside when chains required or not but like I
said I ordered a two separate order to these on on eBay for 20 bucks apiece so
really good deal and I'm gonna test them out here in the parking lot just to make
sure I know how to put these guys on because I may be going through a
mountain pass in the future and it may be required so do that plus had my
mechanic buddy Andrew helped me back here so you guys saw that I got some
wire loom and supplies donated so now it's a lot cleaner okay and that looked
good and then if I want to disconnect it right there the 4-pin connector is easy
to get to right there unplug unattach and then this whole system will be able
to come out but just looks a lot cleaner so yeah there we go
well first of all these aren't the right size I got a whole extra link here see
so what I'm gonna do is go down to Olympia supply and have them cut here
and get rid of a whole link basically yeah that's what I'm gonna do I mean I
don't really understand what happened because they're listed a 16 inch you can
see this what go doesn't make any sense these are like 18 or 20 inch chains
actually but hey we can fix it Olympia supply
can cut this chain for me and
we will make them work but yeah okay that chains by the way I didn't show it
but I was able to get the inside clip on here this is the one that connected in
between the tires I was able to get that on just fine I didn't show it but in
order to really make these work I tested it and I need this to be cut so this
link would be the last physical link and they're still going to be three or four
extra but there's a way to secure those up so really I could cut here and
probably be okay but I'm gonna cut here have three extra links and get rid of
this entire beam here and then these snow chains and those and the ones I have
coming there's the second set of the pair then then we'll be good yeah
I'm only wearing a t-shirt because I'm basically spending all of my time inside
the RV with heat I don't think I've ever seen it snow this much my home area it's
very strange anyway two more days and I'm out of here
I'll get back with you I'm gonna stay warm in the RV.
I got a pretty big project here for the kitchen I'm gonna battle through it here
I got the heater on to keep it warm I think it is important to keep it at like
70 degrees in here for this project but I'm gonna transform my counter for cheap
and hopefully easy but we'll see I'll share it with you though if you're
interested in the backsplash this is another really simple easy
peel-and-stick project I will put a card up top if you're watching on your laptop
or tablet for that video got that at Home Depot and we're gonna work on now
is making this counter better because this is pretty much how every RV cheap
RV counter is just really cheesy it's really hard to keep this white clean I
mean no matter how much I clean it just I dont know, it's just really hard to keep
clean and I don't have the option to put real granite or marble countertops in
here I really want it to match this so I started doing some research online for
peel-and-stick and what do you know it Amazon came
through it's it's an actual thing to buy peel and stick vinyl
countertops in all sorts of colors the one I got is very berries sticker
anyway I'll put an amazon link below even though amazon don't pay me anymore
and they'll probably sell out of this pretty soon but I will link it for now
just so you guys know which one I got this comes in a nine foot roll and it's
24 inches wide so more than enough to cover this surface but it actually won't
cover the surface this way because see we would want to come down over this lip
anyway so I'm gonna have to do them in strips this way starting from this edge
over here where the kitty cats at yes I'm talking to the camera it's gonna be
okay waterproof pre-pasted scrubbable and strippable
well that's good perfect know if you can see what I did there
yeah I did that on purpose guys this marble finish has Gray's whites and
blacks built into it which will match the backsplash perfectly I think once
this gets laid down here I am really really looking forward to getting rid of
this white countertop finally so first thing I got to do is clean all the
surfaces I'm not gonna remove the stove here I'm not even going to remove the
sink I've seen and heard that you don't need to and it's kind of a pain to do
you just cut once you get close to it (MEOW!) ...oh my gosh I'm trying to film buddy
as for this though I'm gonna take this out and I'm actually gonna recaulk it
when I get done so I will take the faucet head out itself remove all of the
existing caulking around here redo that make that look good and make sure that
we get a really good fit on the film everywhere else. I may also bring
the peel and stick back around to this corner to just to finish it up a little
bit but yeah I'm gonna get started on the prep work here and I'll get back to
you once I get something laid down here that's where I was gonna start yeah but
I was gonna I wasn't oh okay I guess we gotta pet the kitty first one more thing
I'm not too worried about plugging up all of these existing holes this is
where my old can crusher used to sit these holes are so small if you wanted
to you could fill all the little holes and imperfections before you lay this
down but as I showed with the peel-and-stick backsplash it really
doesn't matter I mean you're not gonna you're not just gonna happen to have a
pen and drive it into the vinyl at that exact point I just I don't see the point
but yeah start laying this down here all right one thing I learned
already is there is definitely an art to it I don't know I think smaller pieces
are better because this stuff is so sticky that I just cut
it right there and I'm gonna reattach it I would say stick to smaller pieces and
it's an art guys I mean it's not perfect you know it's a it's a really easy way
for me to improve quality I got the staple gun underneath
and stapled the seam down here again I know it doesn't look perfect I'm not
going for perfect I'm going for a simple easy way to improve the counter so I'll
keep working at it here and show you what I get when I get finished here for
these corners what I'm doing is I'm just I'm trying to get a really good crease
so I just just kind of pinching and making sure that it that it really gets
a good corner before I start adhering it to the side part here.
The adhesive is a little forgiving so you have a couple chances alright and then
let's start working it down like this and then once I make sure there's no
bubbles in that part of it we'll fold this under again make sure that's really
taut and tight down there I'm gonna put some staples down there hold that in.
I'm kind of cutting the edges so that so that it's a little more flexible I can I
can repair this I'm not worried about this all right that's ready for staples
and then going back to this sink line you know I told you guys I'm not going
to take the sink out you can see I'm pretty happy with that how that worked
out what I'm gonna do is basically just putting my nail right where it's
supposed to be at that's where I want my knife blade I'm gonna grab my sharp
knife I got to do this with two hands though because I got a I got to make
sure I hit it right but I'm gonna cut right there and then take off the excess
I got that corner repaired there up close yeah you can tell but from far away you
can't see up close you can definitely see the seam, but there's no way
the naked eye is gonna be able to tell that imperfection and I'm happy with it
if you're not well take more time I don't know.
well oh my gosh it it's funny
how sometimes the littlest things can just transform and make such an amazing
difference I am much more pleased with it with this than I am the backsplash
how easy that was I don't want to do it again though
but yeah last step is gonna be to put silicone all around the stove in the
back wall and I'm gonna silicone around the sink here as well and the faucet
head there and everything so I've been judged on my caulking much in the past
so I'm not gonna show you that at least up close but that is my next project is
to complete that so again I will put up the before picture with just the plain
white counter impossible to keep clean and here's a picture of the new marble
peel-and-stick fake counter restoration I think it's great I think you guys may
like it if you have an RV and you're looking for a simple easy lightweight
way to restore your RV counter and give it a little more appeal you might want
to try this out again I got on Amazon I will put a link below for you guys
alright actually I am gonna show the caulking because I don't think it's that
bad around the faucet head and the whole back corner you know it's not perfect
but it's gonna seal and keep the water from getting down onto the white part
underneath so yeah pretty simple easy project I'm happy and before I forget I
did get the tire cover put on the back spare tire here went with black instead
of white this time keep it protected against Sun and changing temperatures
and rain and freezing and all that good stuff so so first of all guys breaking
some records here more snowfall in Lacey Washington since 1972 I think they said
it was on the news in February it just does not snow there are there are lots
and lots of winters where we never even see any snowfall at all and we have just
been getting hammered these last three days
I absolutely picked the worst time in like four decades to be back trying to
take care of my business and I can't do anything outside very strange the reason
why all this is happening is they have blown the forecast every single day for
three days in a row all of this is supposed to been rain so it's 2 p.m. now
and every single even for tomorrow they say that's gonna rain all day I
know it's a lie it's gonna snow all day very strange for this place I'm not
getting much done I'm just frozen all the time so yeah huh check back in
tomorrow just a couple quick updates I got all the links cut on the four tire
chains they're at Olympia supply thanks again Sandi for your help there in town
I've got four good chains for my tires yeah it's still snowing how about that
chain guys that's a pretty beefy chain huh
I did get some actual tire rubber I was thinking about fitting some of this
through it so that it'll protect but it sitting right here on the frame and it's
hitting back there on the frame I'm not really that worried about it to be
honest with you if I had a little piece of rubber right here I'd be happy that's
not even that big a deal as for the lock I went ahead and canceled my hundred and
twenty dollar order for that bike lock and I went with this bad boy it's a 16
millimeter lock highly highly secure although this is 18 millimeter 16
millimeter doesn't matter if you cut it here if you go through the time to cut
this you still got to cut the other side or you got to cut two lengths of this
I mean it's it's yeah it's it's not my only source of security for the bike as
I've talked about I've got the disc brake alarm here I've got the camera
that records 24 hours a day so you'll be famous if you even attempt plus my
normal alarm any jiggling of anywhere is gonna set off my master alarm on the RV
so this is another piece of security actually if I could talk about what kind
of security this is this is that spur the moment crime of opportunity thing
when you're downtown somewhere and somebody walks by and says well it's a
cool bike I want to steal it oh whoa holy cow we're not I'm not getting this
bike today let's let's move on guys that's really what that's for and that's
why you can visibly see the lock right there just so you dont even have to
wonder if you can steal it you can't and I know people on YouTube have been
telling me for years and years that I'm gonna lose everything on my RV that my
bike's gonna get stolen that everything inside I'm gonna get robbed of all the
time I take these precautions so that I'm not that person I know it happens
out there in the world guys but it's not going to happen to me it's time to just
get over it and accept it I take too many precautions there are too many
redundancies on the road that keep me and my property and my pet safe a
hundred percent I mean there is no such thing as a hundred percent but you know
what I mean it's just it's just the way I roll it that way I don't have to worry
about that kind of stuff is this a little extreme yeah probably a little
extreme but I feel confident and I can go back and honestly say that you know
since you Eureka California bad things don't happen to me anymore like theft or
vandalism or even attempts anymore it's just you can't get away with it there's
no way they're the cameras record all the time you can't even say "Eric's been
parked here longer than me a little allotted time" you can't even say that
any more than all I got to do is say officer you see these they record 24
hours so you want to rephrase that "oh yeah actually I do want to rephrase that
I was told by anonymous person that you were but but
okay clearly you know the rules" You know it's all just a way to keep me safe
and to keep other people honest out there that's the best way to put it all
the security is not maybe in paranoid it's to keep the world honest what's
wrong with that that's a great perspective on life yeah
let's go south. Kind of purposely wanted to stop in to priest Point Park one last
time before I leave just to see a little bit more of the native wildlife here of
course it's snowing you got the cedar trees with snow on
them that cool
the snow is so quiet too
it's pretty peaceful and that of all the other spots that kind of closed down
this one didn't of course I think it's pretty impossible to abuse it I've
mentioned that they have power outlets here that they keep on during the day
time for this day use facility I'm not gonna like run a ceramic heater or
anything but I'm gonna plug in my cord for a couple hours and trickle charge
the battery might use the microwave and make some food or something I don't have
the cover on the bike right now because I keep testing it and I'm really excited
because like even in cold weather this thing is just firing up every single
time sometimes without choking it too so I think we're good I think we're good
with the bike hundred percent reliable again but this is where I've come to say
goodbye to the northwest and goodbye to the snow hopefully well I can't say that
because sometime in March I may be going over another snow pass that's
why I got the chains that's the that's why I'm prepared just in case but mostly
goodbye to the snow so guys catch up with you here in a couple days.
From a new state bye bye Washington
