this tendency to characterise relations in an asymmetrical way

is not a prerogative of contemporary world.

Well, it is known that civilising progress emerges from non-warlike contexts,

However, if we wanted to look for a historically emblematic aspect

of this regrettable and aggressive way

of establishing intercultural relations on an international scale,

we should begin with European colonialism.

Many inequalities and injustices still existing in different parts of the world

derive from the history of prevarication

perpetrated for centuries by those European countries

which tried to widen their horizon of influence

through the navigation of the seas and the discovery of new unknown lands.

It is very educational to interpret this history

as a story that should teach what is not to be repeated

in contexts of meetings and relationships between communities and different cultures.

The global impact of European colonialism has implications

on the way hierarchies and priorities are forced among the different knowledge,

among values and visions of the world,

thus operating an asymmetry of values

between Europeans and non-Europeans,

between the centre and the periphery,

the North and the South of the world,

whites and non-whites,

establishing division between men and women,

between Christians and non-Christians,

between heterosexuals and queers.

The way in which since the XVI century many European countries have based

their relationship with other peoples and other cultures of the South of the world

is a historical wound in terms of conceiving the policy of cultural identity,

especially for having been presented many times

as the bearer of emancipatory values.

Along with religious crusades,

colonialism is the most tragic aspect of conceiving relationships between diversities.

Ethnocentrism, Eurocentrism

and all kinds of contemporary imperialism,

both in cultural and commercial terms,

are rooted in this systematic cultural violence

that reproduces social inequalities and injustices.

It may seem paradoxical,

but the history of these wounds is closely linked

to the ones that today are suffered by many cultural minorities

which feel their difference as despised or ignored.

In every context of the planet

there is a trace of this first process of globalisation,

namely the European colonialism,

and many of its aspects of injustice,

as we shall see afterwards,

have been also reproduced by the different populations

which inherited this history spread across the globe.

Have you ever looked at a painting4 thinking: "What's it about?"

That's how I feel about this painting. It has always puzzled me.

A dog and seven people in a room.

One is lying on the floor, wearing a fez and telling a story.

But it seems like no one's really listening.

What's the story about? Who are they? Where are they and why are they there?

You get the urge to enter the painting and ask them, but you can't.

I've divided the image into 24 parts -

- in order to find out what it's all about.

You could call it a calendar -

- or a thorough exploration of what stories one painting can tell.

Welcome to Kær's Art Calendar.

Welcome. Today's subject, today's detail, is this.

You could wonder what that is. It's a bit of the air.

Nothing's random in this painting. Why is there so much air in it?

Is there something in the air affecting the painting?

Let's take a look at the first review of this work. It says:

"One person's lying on the floor, seemingly relaying a serious tale -

- as they all look like they are in a funeral procession -

- or have been deported." And then further down:

"One could easily assume that the conversation was about cholera."

That's interesting because there was a cholera outbreak in Rome at the time.

Why is that? Rørbye writes about it in his journal:

"Never had it crossed my mind -

- that this city would be so full of dirty, narrow streets."

It wasn't all butterflies and puppy dogs in Rome.

It was also an experience for your nose and your health.

Because cholera was spreading. Constantin Hansen writes to his sister:

"You know that there was cholera here, and it was so severe -

- that the death toll was at 15,000."

Let's look at the period that this painting was created in, -

- August and September of 1837.

Every day brought several new deaths.

What was the cause? Today we are convinced -

- that the cause is a bacteria and it's a form of diarrhoea -

- brought on by bad sanitation -

- and the way they dealt with sanitation and drinking water.

But back then they were of a different opinion.

Marstrand wrote to his mother -

- that foreigners had brought the disease here by poisoning the water.

That was the opinion of the locals. That foreigners poisoned the water.

"An Englishman who gave a child in Trastevere a pretzel -

- was pitifully murdered."

Is cholera still around? Yes.

Sadly, it's very wide-spread as you can see here.

"Is it only in third world countries?" Nope.

Because it's a question of sanitation.

Interestingly, Rome had a cholera outbreak in 1837.

A few years later, in 1853, the same thing happened in Copenhagen.

It's one of the reasons Bindesbøll created Brumleby -

- and the Medical Association housing. To avoid these kinds of things.

Interestingly, one of the people who died from this outbreak of cholera -

- was their professor, Eckersberg.

Now, that's just a small detail out of a larger whole, -

- but there's always something. There's never nothing.

Some quick tips and to improve the health of your hair don't use too much heat on your hair

Know when to condition and know when to shampoo your hair know what types of products to use and what types of products to avoid

Generally you want to avoid shampoos that are really high in alcohol

Because that really strips all the natural oils and the nutrients from your hair and it often leaves your hair feeling

Damaged and brittle so you want to make sure they're using

Conditioners wanna make sure you're using

Shampoos there and not stripping out all the nutrients in your hair so in this video I want to give you guys five things you

can do to help improve that number

One the first thing you can do is an apple cider vinegar rinse

I actually learned this tip from another model

who has actually long beautiful hair and it just shines so much an actor hey

What products do you use in your hair how do you get that natural shine?

And she actually told me this secret that she actually doesn't use very much products in her hair

What she does is that when she washes her hair

She puts a cup of apple cider vinegar into a little bowl and she just rinses her hair with that apple cider vinegar

And what the apple cider vinegar

Does to your hair is that it helps it balances the pH

levels of your hair and it helps you restore that

Natural shine that your hair is naturally supposed to have not

Only that another thing that apple cider vinegar

Does is that it lifts up all the dirts from your scalp and it just gently strips them away without

Stripping out all the nutrients and essential oils from your hair another tip

I'll give you guys

Is to oil your scalp this is very important because your follicles are coming out of your scalp and you want to make sure that

Try to use more conditioners and less shampoo the next tip I want to give you guys

is to take supplements so if you watched some of my videos you see that I've recommended some hair supplements you guys can take

One supplement that I like to take is biotin

but sometimes I like to take supplements that has not only biotin but highest vitamin A vitamin C B e

K all of that even some carotene to help improve

The overall health of your hair alright so the last tip I want to give you guys is a hair mask treatment

So this treatment is a recipe that I've actually used myself and it works amazingly well

what you do is that you take mayonese you take honey you take a little bit of apple cider vinegar and

You take two eggs now, whip that all up together and use that sort of as a hair mask

Make sure you run it through your hair thoroughly and once you've done that so let it sit

Maybe wear a shower cap or something or sit under heat

let it sit for at least thirty minutes to an hour and once you rinse your hair you're gonna notice that your hair is just

Naturally more fluffy and it's restored as bounce and shine so that's something that you guys gonna do maybe on a monthly basis

You have to use liquid fertilizer on alternate days

You can use any organic liquid fertilizer

I have shown many methods in earlier videos

You have to use liquid fertilizer on every third day

If you want you can use liquid fertilizer as a foliar fertilizer

Foliar fertilizer is a fertilizer given on leaves of plant

Leaves absorbs fertilizer through leaves and plants grows nicely

Liquid fertilizer or tea can be made by many methods

You can keep earthworm compost in water for a night

After straining water spray directly on spinach leaves

You can also give this fertilizer in soil too
