In my lab at the Bar-Ilan University, faculty of life sciences, in Israel,
we study how the gut microbiota affects the intestinal immune system.
Specifically we are interested in how
these immunological effects of the microbiota
are mediated by the enteric nervous system.
We've recently shown that the enteric neurons
can actually sense the microbiota and respond.
And the response is both by action potential and also by gene expression.
And these changes in the neuronal activity

Now in my new lab we take this work few steps further

we look at the effects of the chemotherapy treatment in cancer patient
both on the composition of the microbiome, but more interesting to us,
on the effects of this chemotherapy-disrupted microbiome,
on the intestinal immune system
and neuro-immune interactions and specifically gut barrier functions.
This is some preliminarily data but already very encouraging
in showing that the chemotherapy-disrupted microbiome
might contains species
that can alter gut-barrier function.
And these alterations that increase gut permeability might affect
inflammation in the gut, which is called mucositis,
and it is a very severe and frequent side effect
that chemotherapy cancer patients suffer from.
And we hope that this research may lead to new pathways for therapy to this patients.

In this video we're going to introduce the core-spun technique,
which is a spinning technique that's got quite a different development to the others.
Core-spun spinning starts off with an already completed thread,
which in fact makes up the core,
or in other words, the soul of our artistic yarn.

preferably it shouldn't be handmade,
because whilst spinning this thread will be rather strained
and therefore the main quality it must have is resilience

results are obtained from the combination of animal and vegetable fibres,

so we're sure that we're going to spin the parts in each section consistently
and then move on the next one in transition.

The capital of Belarus is Minsk, also known as the Hero City for its ability to make a comeback

The national flag of this nation consists of two colors...
Red and Green... where Red represents sacrifice & freedom and Green symbolizes life.
The official language is Belarussian and Russian.
Alexander Lukashenko & Siarhiej Rumas are currently the President and Prime minister of Belarus respectively.
Belarus has fought many battles with it's neighboring countries
but it is Russia, who ruled over this nation for a very long time and finally on 27th July 1990
Belarus got its independence.
Do you know that the Chernobyl nuclear disaster that happened in 1986 in Ukraine,
seriously affected a large part of this country & some part of this country is still under the radioactive effect?
Well, Belarus also is known for printing one of the first-ever bibles.
This was done in 1517 in Prague.
The economy of Belarus is primarily based on agriculture and heavy machinery manufacturing.
You would come across many heritage sites and if you are fond of history then this is the right place to be.
Some of the alluring places of Belarus are Braslav lake, Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park,
Brest Fortress, Pripyatsky National Park, Berestyle Archaeological Museum, National library,
Lida Castle & Tower of Kamyenyets.. to name a few.
The food and local cuisine adds to the hospitality of this country.
