Youtube daily report May 22 2017

Hey Guys and welcome to my newest video

So today's video I'm going to be doing a haul video, Umm

Most of this stuff is from

Kmart and a local $2 shop

Or cheap shop called The Reject Shop

I got most of this stuff because

One I needed it and two it appealed to me so

Yeah, Lets get into it, the first place I

went to was Kmart and I managed to

pick up a new quilt cover set, So

here it is here, that's what it looks like, Umm but yeah it's

defiantly a nice color and I like the

pattern of it and the best thing about it, It was only $9

so next thing I got is ah some phone cases

There from Target as well, Ah Kmart

sorry, Umm the first one I got is a

Just a clear case as you can see um, yeah you never know when you need a

a clear case and I like to make my own

designs and what not on it so I have on of them

then the next one is one that I actually

found this so it was very cool it is

it's right here and it is rose gold so

It does match my phone and

its got like a little grip here which

you can like hold onto it put it on your

finger and hold onto it or umm

Like a little stand for the phone, So I

Thought that was pretty cool

so yeah and then the last thing I got from Kmart

Was this umm Flexi Tripod for

For my phone for when I film on my phone

if I need to so yeah I have one of these, It's just ah tripod so nothing fancy

About that and it's in black cause

That was the only colour they had and yeah, So

the next things I got are from

The Reject Shop, now oh sorry I got these two

posters behind me from Kmart this one

here obviously self explanatory

Harry Potter and then ah this

one over here I got because I like

the design and everything like that

cause I've always liked that crayon

effect and yeah pretty cool and I like this here so yeah

that's going to be my background

for my videos now or the beginning of it

I don't know hopefully I can get some more stuff

change it out or leave it I don't know yet but

so far its this, Umm so the next things

I got from The Reject Shop are also for

my background, Umm hopefully I can fit them

somewhere but this little hanger of

unicorn and says dream big and the unicorns all glittery

It's pretty cool, I like it

Yeah I thought it was cool and

dream big, I like to dream big anyway

So the next one I got

again is like this little hangy thing

and it says live, laugh, love everyday, and yeah

thought that was pretty cool just a

little reminder to live everyday

laugh and love every day so yeah and

then the last thing I got from The Reject Shop

is these pair of headphones I thought they were pretty cool

they only cost like $12 so yeah

I though I would give them a go and yeah

cause they look pretty cool, I like the colour

yeah they will be good, I'll be using these for editing

and everything like that so yeah so that

was my little Kmart

/ Reject shop haul, Umm if you guys liked it

give it a thumbs up share it favourite it

Do what you gotta do and all that jazz, Leave a happy

friendly comment down below if you liked

my new setup and what you think I should

add or take away or if you like my blank

white wall I don't know so yeah leave

Some suggestions down in the comments and yeah

Don't forget to hit that subscribe button if you

are already not subscribed because that will let you guys know when I

upload

and if you've already done that turn on

the bell icon that just gives you post

notifications to when I upload so yeah

"THE BEST I'VE EVER LOOKED" | Highways to Fairways EP9 Trailer - Duration: 1:20.

CHARLIE: We're in Prince Edward Island.

A lot of people are probably saying:

'Didn't you guys go there once already?'

Well, we did go there.

The last time we were on a bit of a rushed schedule,

we were trying to do 18 courses in 48 hours.

This time a little more relaxed, seeing a lot more things.

WAYDE: That's a massive lobster!

CHARLIE: What's the key to catching mussels?

WAYDE: Well, in P.E.I. ...

Reach down.

One of the things we're gonna be doing is: harness racing.

Charlie is trying on the silks.

The scary part is, I truly believe he thinks he looks good.

CHARLIE: A guy always looks better in a uniform.

I think I look as good as I've ever looked.

*horse neighs*

We're on to play the Fathers of Confederation in a game of croquet.

PLAYER: I don't recall your ball being that close.

WAYDE: *chuckles*

We're going to the iconic Crowbush Golf Course.

WAYDE: We hear you're a bit of a storyteller.

DENNY: I am!

CHARLIE: Are they true?

DENNY: If a cat had kittens in the oven, you wouldn't call them biscuits.

WAYDE: If I had in my head what an islander looked like... Denny is that.

GROUP: Ahhhh!

DENNY: I thought he had it!

We've got a bit of a tough lie,

but we shall play it, where it lies!

HYGGE - Duration: 7:42.

Hey guys! So welcome to another view of

my apartment! I'm sitting on my couch,

which is a more accurate reflection of

where I actually spend most of my time.

Today's video, as you might be able to guess

is about hygge. I kept seeing books

about hygge at work and thought it was

just another one of those fads,

which maybe it is, but I kind of just

wrote it off initially and wasn't

interested. And then I saw Helene

Jeppesen's video about hygge and

realized how much hygge is already my

life. So I decided to read one of those

books about hygge and learn more about

what it really is. So I've gathered a lot

of the basics of Hygge around me and

this is just stuff that I already have.

Candles, not all of which are lit because

I don't want a fire, because I also have

my plants which are doing okay and

haven't died yet. And I also have some

delicious chocolate chip banana bars

which I'm not sure count as brownies or

not, but they are delicious.

I have my mug full of warm tea, I have

pillows, I have a blanket nearby in case

I get cold, but I don't think it will

because it's going to be eighty degrees

Fahrenheit today. I have my fairy lights

behind me and I have my very cute purple

wintery sweater that is kind of a Nordic

pattern. I'm also using the natural

daylight of my window to light up my

apartment. Behind me you may be able to

see my crocheted granny square blanket

that I made last year, and of course my

couch, which is very comfortable and I

hang out on all day long when I'm home.

And I also have a book right next to me

which I plan to read more of later today,

and that is one of the Outlander books.

These are the elements of hygge that I

most relate to and just find myself

naturally having in my life. As I was

reading the first book I read about hygge,

there were some other elements included

that I didn't necessarily relate to, and

that included stuff like hunting, being

outdoorsy, drinking alcohol, being social,

and owning certain Danish products like

furniture and expensive lighting. In some

of the reviews that I read about the

first book, people described it as being

materialistic and condescending, and only

for people who could afford to be "hygge."

So after that I decided to read more

books about hygge and get a more

well-rounded view of what it really is,

and what it can be. In total I read three

books about hygge, so now I feel like I

pretty well know what it means even

though it's still hard to describe and

there's no real translation for what it

is in English. But really hygge is about

the simple things around you that you

already have that bring you joy and

comfort, and it's about feeling safe, and

satisfied, and warm, and loved, after a

productive day or stressful day or a

stormy day. It's essentially the things

around you that you already have that

you love, that bring you comfort. And it's

different for everybody. It can work for

introverts, which I am, or for extroverts.

It's just about whatever it is that

gives you that feeling. And a lot of the

materialism I would guess comes from

more of a feeling of nostalgia and the

things that Nordic people grew up around

and are familiar with, so it would be

totally different in a different country.

Hygge is really deeply rooted in Nordic

and Danish tradition, and weather, and

lifestyle, but it can be adapted to

wherever you are. I recently learned that

my mom

is 16% Scandinavian, which we kind of

already knew but now we have an official

number. So I like to think that some of

those traditions passed down through my

family, because when I was reading about

hygge, a lot of it reminded me not

only of myself, but of my family and my

parents, and their hobbies and daily

habits. So a lot of the things that hygge

includes are already a part of my life,

but there are some other ones that I am

trying to incorporate more, because they

just sound really nice. And that includes

cooking more often and trying out new

recipes. I made these chocolate chip

banana bars myself and they are very

delicious. It was the first time I made

this recipe and I actually altered it a

little bit because originally it was

supposed to be a slow cooker recipe but

I don't have a big enough slow cooker,

and made them in my oven instead. I also

want to go out and take more walks even

though I can't really go on long hikes

or anything because I have a hip issue. I

do like taking walks and just enjoying

the sunshine and being outside, and I am

trying to be better at taking care of my

plants. This is the second aloe vera I've

had because the last one died, and I also

killed a violet plant and a bamboo plant,

which are all supposed to be very easy plants to

take care of. And you can't see but I

also have string lights and

different lamps around my apartment that

I really like and are very cute. I also

want to learn how to poach an egg,

because I think that was one of the

things that was included in "skills you

must have if you want to have a truly

hygge lifestyle." So if you are unfamiliar

with what hygge was, maybe this has

piqued your interest and answers some

questions about what it really is, and if

you already knew about hygge I hope this

enlightened a little bit of myself

and the things that I like, and how hygge

is already an integral part of my life,

even before I knew it existed. Now I

don't normally have all my candles and

all my plants and string lights on my

couch, but this is a little more

condensed for the sake of the video, but

they are all things that genuinely give

me joy, and I think that is a lovely

thing to have in times such as this. So I

hope you enjoyed this video and I hope

that it turns out ok because it's my first

time filming in this setup and my camera

has been overheating the whole time, so

it's probably been shifting around a

little. But oh well, it's what I've got!

If there's any other aspect about hygge

that you want to talk about, feel free to

reach out in the comments, and if you're

feeling sick of hygge already because

sometimes I do by the end of talking

about hygge and saying hygge a hundred

times in 10 minutes,

then that's ok too, and thank you for

watching anyway. I hope you have a very hyggeligt weekend or evening or whenever

you're watching this, and I will see you

next time, bye! *blows out candle*

She's An Angel: Melania Trump Just Made a Miracle Happen for These Sick Kids - Duration: 1:47.

She's An Angel: Melania Trump Just Made a Miracle Happen for These Sick Kids

When it comes to First Ladies, I cant think of a single one better than Melania Trump. The woman is a true saint, and what she did for this group of sick kids yesterday proves it.

These kids were excited when they heard they were gonna get a garden they could hang out in during treatments. Little did they know that Melania Trump herself would be showing up to make it even better.

The First Lady dedicated the new Bunny Mellon Healing garden at the Childrens National Medical Center.

She even sat around and worked with them on some art project. One look and you can see how much these kids instantly fell in love with Melania.

You know, they say that having a positive attitude is a major part of recovering from bad sicknesses. Thanks to the hard work of the doctors and our First Lady, these children seem pretty optimistic.

See, when Obama was President, the media shared stories like this everywhere. Now they act like the Trumps are bad. We gotta get this to everyone we know. Show them why we love Melania Trump.

Decolonizing Faith As A Part of Decolonizing Queerness x Taylor Amari Little | QSOCC 2017 - Duration: 59:29.

Leo Ariel: It worked out, the way we met.

And I'm just like... so full of joy that I'm doing this.

Yeah! It's just really special.

So, yeah!

Taylor Amari Little is a proud Black queer femme

Muslim cis woman and practitioner of Ifa.

She is a student at Eastern Michigan University studying Criminology,

an educator, poet and activist.

She is the founder of Queer Ummah, an international visibility project

highlighting LGBTQ+ Muslims, a member of the Detroit chapter of Black Lives Matter,

and set to co-lead EMU's Queer and Trans People of Color Collective this upcoming year.

She was also privileged to become a TEDx speaker at the age of 17

with her "Revolutionary Self-Produced Justice" talk.

Additionally, Little was recently featured on Buzzfeed

for her "White People Stay Colonizing" presentation that went viral.

Her activism comes in many forms,

but she always strives to center the most marginalized peoples first.

She asserts that no one is free until the communities who are least thought of and most underprivileged are, too.

So please let's give a warm welcome to Taylor.

*crowd applauds*

Taylor Amari Little: Hi, y'all!

Okay, this is good.

Hi!

Crowd responds: Hi!

Woo, oh my God. I'm nervous.

I'm always nervous for like the first few minutes and then I crack a joke or two and then I get into it.

Alright, so...

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

May peace be upon you, as well as the mercy and blessings of

insert whatever you believe in.

Whether it is God, however you define God.

Whether it's the Universe, the Creator, whether it's yourself,

Whether it's the ancestors, the Orishas, or the Loas...

Whatever you believe in, boo.

Just may peace and blessings and the mercy of whatever that you believe in be upon you.

Before I tell you a little bit about myself

and about what I have been doing these past few years and my existence on this colonized ass land,

I want to give some of the decolonial reminders

How to help homeless people in need without giving them cash money enabling them to buy drugs! - Duration: 6:12.

how we doing steve with apology the world's only homeless Rock band, so

Everybody's always talking about how to help the homeless it and all that stuff like that

So this is my direct pitch to the whole world especially

music stores and

Whatever repair shops to live like that so as you know if you're watching [my] videos [are] paying attention

apology is a role for me homeless Rock band the idea is that

we

Some of my co-workers or musicians

And we work with the homeless we work at a homeless

became an Outreach that type of thing, so

Sure enough everybody this brother in this camp

Yeah, has some type of musical background. They play guitar the collegium exactly whatever [great], and I noticed that

have a lot of free time sing about homes and

with all that extra time [that] leads to drugs and stealing and God knows what [else] right, so

Let's look at this and say what can you do to do something about it?

well first off you want to occupy the time come [somebody], but you also want to give somebody a

Future you can even theoretically make money

eventually doing this kind of thing right, so

I'm not saying you're going to get rich or that you're even going to make a full-time living at it, but at least it's something

besides

Paying him the climate science. Whatever it is if they'd be spoke?

Dumpster diving you I've gotten to know a lot of these people they have a lot of time in the world of work

They do all kinds of stuff they volunteer [around] camp

One guy cleans the fanatical about emptying the trash cans. I mean he's probably

Increased our trash bag usage like we're really

the triple the

Trash bags as he's digging out the trash so much really more than happy to work more than happy to get involved in something

so that's the idea [so] I've been going to the pawn shops and

Well one pawn shop in particular

[150] Seventh Avenue

And Aurora Avenue [North] here in Seattle the I think it's [bitter] [likely] [colder] green will agree with whatever more this

Cl Neighborhoods in North of Seattle and

Morrow Avenue North there, Michelle, Donna cash America has been working

With me specifically to make apology worksheet. She's behind the whole homeless help the homeless

Save souls with rock and roll all the good stuff. She's and she's a big fan of what I'm trying to do and

What the what we do at the homeless encampment by the way, [I'm] prohibited from mentioning

what where I work and stuff like that, so just don't ask but

part of what we do requires us to

not

solicit donations

Directly for the organization that we represent I work for a nonprofit Charitable organization

And they have specific people that do things like you know call people and beg for money and things like that

So here's the deal. I'm not begging for money. I'm not asking [for] anything. I'm assuming. I'm asking for

Anything really expensive [or] put anybody help we use need instruments gear

Mixers video cameras

amps guitars bass drums keyboards

Triangles Cowbells whatever anybody might have laying around

You know just [taking] up space and that good stuff

Helped us up throwing up a you know

Contact me in a message Facebook. Whatever like that. You can go on the apology

Facebook page

And contribute you know unit assistance [some] more microphones laying around or Whatnot bet?

We'll be more than happy to come and pick it up if it's local we could ship it

We can [whatever] even if it's this is a spectacular discount or maybe a great deal. I'd love to hear about it

I love to take advantage of a good deal to put some you know instruments in these people's hands and people you know

occupied give them something to do something believe in something something to be passionate about and

Maybe you know save some souls whether or how can roll right?

so if you really want to support

The homeless and really do something special let's be honest these people don't have any problems finding food. There's there's people everywhere

food banks churches and seven centers, so

For the most part [there], [they're] not having a hard time

Finding a place to sleep at night

For all the discomfort [of] being homeless yes, it sucks, but here in Seattle we do

have a lot of

resources [feature] so a lot of people have

What what you're donating? Yeah, a lot you want that

Oh, we need to get off the streets a lot of these people are doing okay with that

And [you] couldn't afford the rent in the house. You're trying to poke my fancy face

As far as [giving] [them] put a guitar in their hand and give them something to do with their time things like that

I think [that's] what he's dad, and I say or something, so I'm just give me food whether it's gardening?

Or you know construction or anything something to be passionate about?

And it'll be a vast improvement on their lifestyle [if] you want to give someone something to believe in you know

Skip the preaching in the end the morally outraged holier than now forget about what give somebody a guitar tambourine

[ukulele], whatever you have laying around [I] bet you probably got an old guitar in your garage or at your closet

Or whatever it might be?

Helps out. Maybe we can work something out. Maybe we can pay the shipping if you just want to get rid [of] it

You know it shouldn't cost you money to get rid of it

Give you receipt for it [however] [works] out however you want to work it let us know

Private message contact me over Facebook and set [aside] [etcetera]. Yes. I am literally begging for stuff

That's yes, there's no change

if I came at this point, but if you believe in

What what we're trying to do?

And you like to help somebody

You got some of the stuff. Maybe it's just laying around [there] who knows right?

Maybe you got a guitar this just just got less clothes on right now. Let us know

We'd love to take it off your hands for you

So, thank you for being here today.

Alicia T.: Thanks for having me.

It's always fun to chat with you, Catherine.

Catherine O.: Aw, thank you.

So, why don't you tell us a little bit about what makes up your family dynamics?

Alicia T.: I have me and my husband and we'll be married for eight years this year, which

is exciting.

Catherine O.: Oh, congrats.

Yeah.

Alicia T.: And then we have a daughter who just turned 18, who we adopted through foster

care and then we have a son who's two and a half and I have a baby on the way, so I'm

33 weeks pregnant right now.

I'm due with it in June.

Catherine O.: Yeah?

How are you feeling?

Alicia T.: Okay.

Tired.

Ready.

Catherine O.: Yeah, I was definitely not one of those glowing pregnant woman.

So, I'm always like ... have so much empathy when I see the baby bumps.

Alicia T.: Yeah.

Catherine O.: So, tell me how you balance being mom, working, and your relationship

roles?

Alicia T.: I think it's definitely always a struggle, to be perfectly honest ... in

trying to balance everything and trying to give everything the attention that it needs.

But I think ... right now, we're kind of in the midst of preparing for baby.

So, that also means readjusting.

Like what our lifestyle is looking like and just constantly checking in.

My husband is awesome.

He's an amazing support.

He does a lot of ... he works from home, so he does a lot of the hands-on stuff with our

little one.

My older daughter is in school and she pretty much has her own life.

She's still in high school, so she works and goes to school and so she kind of just does

her own thing.

I mean, it's not like she needs supervision.

She helps out around the house too.

And so just kind of making sure that I am communicating, I think, is the most important

part.

I can find myself getting into like these spirals where I'm just feeling so overwhelmed

with everything and then have to constantly remind myself, like, "Okay, but you have two

other grown people in the house that can be helpful."

And we have extended family and it's really just about asking for what I need and not

get into the place where I'm like, "Okay, I can do all of this stuff.

I'm okay.

I'm doing it all," and then I'll just be in tears after a really long day.

Especially being pregnant.

I mean, like the hormonal stuff is just ... comes out my eyes.

So, I'm like, "I'm just so tired," and my husband is like, "Well, why didn't you ask

me to do that today?

Or why didn't you ... ?" I'm just like, "I don't know."

It goes back and forth, but constantly being willing and open to asking for what I need.

I think that's kind of like one of the biggest lessons I learned after having my son.

Catherine O.: Yeah.

It's hard to ask for help, especially if you're used to being able to do things and doing

it on your own.

I find that.

Like I'm always, "Like ask for help.

Ask for help."

And then I find myself that same rut where I'm like, "Yeah, why am I not asking?"

I kind of want people just to know what I need and not have to ask.

Alicia T.: Exactly.

Catherine O.: But it doesn't work that way and then I'm disappointed.

Alicia T.: Yeah.

Definitely.

I mean, my husband and our communication has to be a top priority.

So, doing date nights.

We have every other weekend where we'll take a night out and take my son to a babysitter

... with grandma.

And they're happy.

I mean, they would probably do it every week, but in our heads it's kind of like, "Oh, we

don't want to burden other people," or whatever.

But they're happy ... it's like a win-win situation.

They're happy to spend time with him.

They wish they could spend more time with him, but having that time together is so super

important to us because it's like where we catch up, where we kind of make our big decisions

about what we're gonna do.

And so, like I said, we're kind of restructuring, rearranging, how we're gonna do things with

two kids who are under three and what that's gonna look like.

So, me working a little bit less because I'm in private practice and I also have a contract

position where I do psychological evaluations for nursing facilities and mental hospitals.

I probably work like 30 hours a week but I squish it into three really long days so that I can

have more time off.

But now it just seems like I'm really recovering from those really long days on my days off,

just because I'm so tired.

So, we're trying to restructure that and make some changes so that we can do that.

Catherine O.: Yeah.

And I feel like it's a constant ... I mean, that's one of the most important parts of

having those regular check-ins is because it ... I feel like it changes so much because

their needs at that age change dramatically over a couple of years.

It's like keep checking in.

Alicia T.: Yeah, yeah.

I mean, a newborn differently requires different ... I mean, now he's two and a half, so he's

actually in preschool a couple days a week.

But then they don't have it during summer so we're trying to ...

Catherine O.: Oh, okay.

Figure that out.

Alicia T.: ... enlist like family.

So, we can have a little bit of a break and, like I said, he works from home.

If he's on home, he's also on daddy duty, which is kind of hard.

Catherine O.: Yeah.

Alicia T.: I don't know.

I've been [inaudible 00:06:25] on a call an hear him pounding at the door.

Catherine O.: Yeah.

Alicia T.: All that fun stuff.

Catherine O.: So most moms I speak to say there are moments when they are ready to throw

in the towel, can you describe a moment that you've felt this way, if you have, and what

got you through it?

Alicia T.: Just last week.

And it's kind of like what we're talking about, it was a Thursday, which is the last day of

my work week and just feeling super tired and overwhelmed, but I kind of brought it

on myself because I wasn't asking for help, or wasn't, you know ... Like you were saying,

sometimes we can anticipate "Well duh I need this", or "You should know that this needs

to be picked up, or these chores need to be done", but not communicating, you know, I

just came home and was so ... My body is just tired from pregnancy and working a really

long day and just telling my husband ... first just crying a little bit and he's just like

"It's okay, it's okay."

Then he's like "Well why didn't you tell me" or "Why didn't you ask me, all you needed

to do was ask" and I'm like okay.

So then it's just about making that kind of course correction and talking about these little

things that need to get done, this is what you can do, you can take this off my plate,

or that.

And I think that's really ... Me keeping in mind that I have to continually do that, because

I do go up and down with ... One moment I'm asking everybody for help "Okay can you do

this", and then the next moment I'm asking nobody for help, so that's been, like I said

one of the biggest lessons in motherhood I think that I've learned.

After my son ... Leaning on other people, we can't do it alone.

Catherine O.: No, absolutely not.

So is there any ... So my next question is, what do you do when you feel overwhelmed,

overstretched, or less than? Is there ... Besides asking for help, are there other things that

you do?

Alicia T.: Self care type stuff.

It's kind of hard now to not be super physical, but exercise or making sure I get out with

friends, because I can tend to isolate or just be stuck in the "Well I have so much

to do", and regardless of how much to do I have the next day ... I had coffee with one

of my best friends and we laugh about motherhood and all the silly situations that we get ourselves

into and that is always ... Kind of feeds your soul.

It was really helpful just having ... Hearing from other women, other moms, that are going

through the same things, and being able to laugh about it, and also just have that community

is really important.

Catherine O.: Yeah.

What about ... I've had parents tell me that one of the hardest things about being a parent

is the comparisons or judgements from other parents.

Have you experienced that, and if so how did you cope with that?

Alicia T.: I tend to have a pretty tight circle, I've been in mom groups and things like that

where I kind of feel myself getting into it where you know where "Oh, we're going to have

book club at so and so's house and it's just like a giant mansion" and I'm just like "Wow".

Or these birthday parties that are just over the top, kind of just keeping with ... I think,

being very picky about who I surround myself with, like my new people.

And I told a story ... I presented about being a mom-preneur a few months ago and I told

a story about how on my sons first birthday I did all the Pinterest stuff and it was so

overwhelming and exhausting, and he's one, and he really didn't even know what was happening.

And so I got into this trap of doing, doing, doing and then at the very end we were just

sitting with family and friends and my son was being loved on and it was like man, I

totally missed the whole point.

This was the point was this little bit of time, but I spent so much time doing all of

these other things, from the invitations to all the perfect decorations, and all of that

stuff that we can get caught up into.

So I think that was another big lesson for me, was I just want to be present and remember

the purpose over having something that's perfect.

Catherine O.: Right.

What about ... What do you feel is your greatest personal struggle with the experience of motherhood?

Alicia T.: Asking for help.

Catherine O.: I could've answered that for you.

Alicia T.: Yeah, because I'm independent.

It's funny because my husband and I were having a conversation about this the other day and

going through college and graduate school and licensure, to do all of these things,

and we get graded.

We pass our exams and we do all these things and there's all these markers that say "Yes

you're doing an amazing job", but there's none of that in motherhood.

You can have a really warm fuzzy moment with your little one, and then the next minute

they're kicking you in the face because they want chocolate.

But nobody gives you that pat on the back ... It was just Mother's Day so we get our

one day where we get nice gifts and things like that, but there's no measurement or no

grades or things that keep us reminded that we're doing a great job.

I think that's hard too.

Catherine O.: Yeah, especially when ... I mean, I think if we tend to be more like that

type A and we do everything when we're supposed to do it and how we're supposed to do it,

and the motherhood is so not like that.

Because, like you said, from one moment to the next it's totally different and ... How

they're feeling, or whatever, or expressing themselves is different.

So if we measured ourselves on their ... Each moment, yeah it could be a very big disappointment.

Alicia T.: Fail.

Catherine O.: Failed.

So what ... Is there something that surprised you about being a mom?

Maybe something you didn't realize kids did, or something that you would really enjoy,

or something that could bring you so much joy?

Alicia T.: Yeah, I didn't really think that I would love the newborn phase with my son,

but I did.

And even looking back, I'm like "Oh man I should've kissed him a little bit more" because

now he's in the phase we're like "No, no kisses".

Or take advantage of their inability to move, to be mobile.

I mean I think the first time is always the most challenging and then you kind of figure

it out, and the second time doesn't seem as overwhelming.

Catherine O.: I think it's like sometimes too, I'll talk to moms and it's like if ... Especially

when you're feeding your baby and they're so ... It feels like all they do is they eat,

they sleep and then they eat again and it's like a constant feeding them.

And as overwhelming as that can be, when you feel like "I am never not sitting here in

the chair" or whatever you're doing.

And it's like, no, this time does end, it does.

Things get easier. And then it's like looking back, those were the good old days where I

just had to sit there and feed the baby.

Little did I know, looking back now "Oh that was easy".

Alicia T.: Right.

Catherine O.: They didn't talk back and they didn't need anything other than to be fed

and changed- Alicia T.: They didn't try to run out the

front door.

Catherine O.: Cuddled.

Yeah.

Climbing on things.

Alicia T.: Yeah gets through all of your baby safety stuff, like "Oh I figured it out, I

figured out how to undo that latch", like oh great.

Catherine O.: But in the moment when you're like, it does, it feels like oh my gosh this

is all consuming and it's never going to be ... I will never be able to do anything again,

is what I think it feels like.

And I think that's the benefit of the second time around because you know it does end,

it changes.

The hard stuff gets easier and then there's other hard stuff and then that gets easier.

Alicia T.: It just changes, the hard stuff just changes.

Catherine O.: Yeah, exactly.

What about ... What's your relationship, or how has your relationship with your partner

or husband changed since having a kid?

Or how has it stayed the same?

Alicia T.: So we had a lot of time, I think it was a good amount, five years before having

kids.

And so ... My daughter came to us I think we had been married for like three or four

years before.

So we had some time where it was just us and could travel and do whatever you want to do.

And that was really nice, it was definitely a shift especially having a small child.

So my daughter was 13 when she came, so she wasn't super needy in terms of she can go

the bathroom, she can eat by herself, she goes to school, she can ride the bus, all

of that things that come with development, sleeping independent.

So we started backwards.

I think that was a little bit easier in terms of your time commitment, but the emotional

stuff that cam along with having a child who comes from the foster care system was definitely

something that we anticipated, but nevertheless it's time consuming and emotionally consuming.

So our relationship definitely shifted even more when we had a small little human because

it is just constant around the clock caring for them.

But I think the best part is just seeing him as a dad and really loving that role that

he plays.

It's funny because you kind of have a picture of what you're partner will be like when you

have kids, but he's kind of the opposite of what I anticipated.

He's super laid back, we're both pretty laid back, but he's more, if you want to be stereotypical

more like the mom in terms of like "Ohmygosh he's going to get hurt", or like he's riding

a scooter in the house on the carpet and he's like "He needs to wear a helmet" and I'm like

"Oh he's fine".

I am way more lackadaisical about that kind of stuff than I anticipated I would be, and

he's way more overprotective.

Like really worried about him getting hurt and germs and stuff and I'm like "Oh that's

how they'll learn" and "He'll be fine".

And I think allowing him to be who he is as a parent has definitely been a lesson for

me.

Or just something that I'm really mindful of, if that makes him feel good, putting a

helmet on him while he's riding a scooter in the house, then okay and trying not to

change that about him.

But also just seeing him in that dad role and the loving tenderness that is ... He's

super affectionate.

And so I just love seeing that.

Catherine O.: Yeah.

Alicia T.: It's heartwarming and I think he'd probably say the same about watching me be

a mom is totally different than just your role as husband and wife.

Kid bring things out of you that you don't anticipate.

Catherine O.: Yeah, absolutely.

How about your relationship with friends, family or support system changed, or has that

stayed the same?

Alicia T.: I've kind of kept my friends for a really long time, but as they start having

kids it kind of all ... We're in the same realm of child raising.

So definitely less time to go out and have a good time because you're tired.

Going out with girl friends is definitely way fewer instances of that happening, but

I think cherishing the time that we do get to spend, making it a priority.

Before we didn't really have to make it a huge priority, it just kind of happened like

"Oh yeah, what are you doing, it's Friday night?"

Or "It's the weekend" or "We're going to take a trip" and stuff like that, but now it just

comes with a whole lot of planning, but I think it's just as important.

Having less time to do those things has definitely been a shift.

Catherine O.: What's the greatest lesson you've learned as a mom?

Or one of them?

Alicia T.: I think it goes back to when I was saying about the birthday party.

What's really important is being present and remembering the purpose over perfection.

That's kind of like the mantra, purpose over perfection, and really wanting to be present

with my kids when I can be.

It's never going to be 100% good at everything, but just remembering what the priority is.

Catherine O.: Do you have a favorite quote that inspires you as a mom?

Alicia T.: Yeah it's that one.

It's like ... yeah presence over perfection.

Catherine O.: Yeah, I love it.

Alicia T.: Just short and sweet, like a little mantra, you can just remember it.

Catherine O.: Right, when everything gets overwhelming it's like ... Presence.

Alicia T.: Yeah.

Catherine O.: Do you have a favorite song that inspires you as a mom?

Alicia T.: I sing You Are My Sunshine all the time.

I don't know if it's something that I consider inspirational, but I've sang it to my son

since he was a newborn.

It's always his after bath song and now he's to the point where he's like "Sing the song

mommy, sing the song, sing the song."

He looks forward to it.

Catherine O.: Yeah, that's cool.

How about a can't live without it gadget or product that has made being a mom easier or

better for you?

Alicia T.: Baby gates.

Definitely can't live without the gate, you know.

Working from home and trying to get stuff done, definitely can't be without those.

Catherine O.: Right.

So final question is, do you have one piece of advise that you'd like to give other moms?

Alicia T.: I think it would be that it's all just a learning experience.

We're all in this, nobody has the manual.

I mean there's tons of parenting books and things that we can read, but we're never going

to be perfect.

Even if you are that type A person where you're looking for the grades, it's never going to

happen so it's just choosing to be kind to yourself and give yourself grace-

Catherine O.: I love that.

Alicia T.: Understand that it's always about ... It's always a learning experience.

Catherine O.: Yeah, be kind to yourself.

I know because we can totally beat ourselves up, like we're not doing it quite right.

We're not Pinterest perfect or Instagram worthy.

But it's okay, there's no perfection.

Thank you so much for sharing, I love all the things that you had to say and I love

that about asking for help too because I think that's ... I mean I could probably use that

advise today, like it's okay to ask for help.

I think it's always a good reminder, so thank you so much for being here and love that you

could join us.

Alicia T.: Yes, thanks so much for having me.

It's always fun, like I said to chat with you Catherine.

Catherine O.: Thank you.

Bye.

[ENG] How to design a custom dress shirt 생쇼#1-맞춤 셔츠 디자인 하기 - Duration: 9:06.

Hello, my name is Sang Hee Lee

Since this is the first episode, I will introduce myself

In the past I used to do broadcasting and including my college years, it has been about 10 years

And for the past two years I have been working in custom clothing

and I am currently running my own business.

As I was working, I wanted to make content to help men of all ages such as

cool oppas or older men

and that is why I decided to create this show

This show will not just be limited to men's fashion and style

but I will also be covering a wide variety of topics such as hobbies and lifestyle

so I hope that you will provide much support

With the name Sang Show, I am currently living in Chicago

and Americans call me Sang

so that is how the name Sang Show was created

Sang also means "live," as well as "crazy" which you are probably all thinking

I hope that you will all look forward to what type of Sang Show I will be doing in the future

With that being said, let us move on to talking about shirts

First off, because shirts and suits originate from the west,

a lot of the terminology is in English

and because the history of Korea's dressmaking industry crossed over from Japan,

there are also many terms in Japanese

So as I am speaking, English or Japanese words may come up

however, it is completely okay if you do not know these terms

it is alright to just skim over those words

The truth is, the concept of a dress shirt is an under shirt

since they are worn underneath the suit

because they are supposed to be worn as undershirts

often times, some men like to wear undershirts underneath dress shirt to cover up sensitive areas

and it may also be due to perspiration

But in reality, that is a bit strange

since it does not make sense to wear an undershirt under an undershirt

you are already wearing one undershirt

so not wearing one is the correct way

but if you do feel uncomfortable or sweat a lot,

I suggest that you wear dress shirts made of 100% cotton that absorb sweat,

or there are also thicker fabrics that are not see-through

I think that wearing those types of dress shirts would be good

Now, let us dive into talking about dress shirt designs

To start off, we will be talking about collars

There are several different types of collars.

I will show you some samples

Just taking a quick glance, we see about 20 different types of collars

even I was surprised when I first saw

The one that I am wearing right now is the basic/regular

the angle is at about 90 degrees

taking this as the standard,

if the angle were to be smaller, that would be called the narrow

these types of collars were worn mostly by grandpas or the older generation

with some exceptions, this type of collar is almost never worn today

so the one I am wearing right now is the basic/regular

Now if the angle were to widen to about 120 degrees,

that would be called the half spread

and if it were to open more to about 180 degrees

that would be called the full spread

I have a collar on a mannequin here to show you as an example

As you can see here, since the angle is at about 120 degrees, this would be considered half spread

and if the angle were to open to about 180 degrees, that would be full spread

And you can also put buttons or snaps on the collar

in order to secure the collar

those are often seen on casual shirts

There are also some collars with a band and we call that the China collar

And the black and white collars that Catholic priests wear

those are called the Roman collar

As I've shown you before, there is an extensive variety of collars

but as the representatives, you only really need to know these four which I repeat again are

the narrow, basic/regular, half spread, and full spread

as long as you know these four, you really won't have any problems

Next, let's move onto cuffs

Cuffs refer to this area

Broadly speaking, there are button cuffs and french cuffs

These right here are button cuffs

there are two buttons attached

and if you look closely,

there is an angle here

these are called angled cuffs

it can also be rounded or squared

And to show you another example,

these are french cuffs

you've seen these a lot before, right? This one also has a cuffs link

and they are folded

in this case, it is rounded

and just like the button cuffs,

french cuffs can also be rounded, angled, or squared

the three options are also available

French cuffs look more formal

and depending on where you work

such as company workers or lawyers

those people tend to prefer french cuffs

Next, we will move onto plackets

This strip in the front is called a placket

On this dress shirt, the placket is very visible and prominent

that is the basic form of plackets

and for the shirt I'm wearing, there is no folded line

types like these that just go down cleanly are called the french placket

Personally for me, I prefer the the plackets that I showed you earlier,

but french plackets are considered to be more higher quality

So according to your taste, you can choose which one you like

And there can also be buttons, or a fold on top

those are called the hidden plackets

you can choose from those three options

Next, we will move onto pockets

In my case, I have no pockets

A lot of women like to have a pocket for decoration

and men like to have something more practical

Amongst the older age group, there are many people who want pockets

since they need a place to put their pens or notes

so they want a pocket

but younger people don't really do that since it can look bulky

so for a clean fit and clean look they may go with no pockets

Next we will move onto the back

I ordered this mannequin off of Amazon but there is no back

so it may look a little strange

but taking a look at the back, there can either be one pleat down the middle

or two pleats on either side, which you have probably seen before

the good thing about pleats is that you can move around more comfortably

however, it may look a bit flashy or old-fashioned

so today's trend is to keep it clean like this

but you can still choose whichever design you prefer

Now we will move onto the most important element which is the fit

The standard of slim fit for Koreans and Americans is very different

since the body types are different

and since Americans wear looser clothes on an everyday basis

and there are some people with a big belly

but Koreans tend to be more slim

and prefer a tighter style

So, for Americans, they normally need about three inches

three inches is about this much

and because it goes in on each side,

about this much goes on either side

I have not yet talked about monograms

in Korea they are called initials

In my custom dress shirt I have an initial

it looks like this

In my case I basically put my full name

Usually people just put the first letters

but I have put S H Lee as my full name

but you can also put whatever message you desire

for example, wedding anniversaries,

that date, or whatever short message

and that's the beauty of custom made dress shirts since you can personalize it to make it your own

That is all I have prepared for today

I hope that I was able to provide some help if you are planning on getting a custom dress shirt

and I will return with new content next week

Goodbye!
