In Menorca you get used to saying
that there are two different islands;
Rural Menorca which offers tranquillity and relaxation
sheltered by its green landscape
and guarded by age-old dry stone walls
And the maritime Menorca;
much more sociable and adventurous
that seduces us with the transparent
turquoise look of its sea
But why sacrifice either of them
when we can have it all?
As in this splendid property
which offers us a complete experience of the island
It's hard to find a property so close to the capital
that has so many virtues as this one
A valued fertile land of 49 hectares
and where on its highest point
stands an enchanting old house on two floors
brimming with ethnological elements of great value
flanked by a beautiful mature garden
with a swimming pool and tennis court
In the vicinity of the house there is an annex for guests
and a building with bedrooms, which was used for staff
in addition to a garage
And just around 200 metres from the main house
we find a more recently constructed property
completely independent
and a large agricultural building
with an infinite number of possibilities
From the terraces of the main house
we can enjoy spectacular views of the horizon
which reach as far as Mahon harbour
The property has a very varied landscape
which leads to wooded areas
which invite us to meditate and contemplate
down to flat areas
ideal for cultivation, grazing or equestrianism
or simply give them a brush with our imagination
As for the location
this property is very well connected
because it has two access points
One is especially interesting
because it connects with Mahon harbour in just a few minutes
by means of a country road with little traffic
and puts at our feet
a wide range of aquatic activities and gastronomic delights
And not missing in a large farm with agricultural origins such as this one
are its own well and mains electrical connection
that will ensure it will meet the requirements of any agronomic project
And to conclude, among many other advantages
it should be noted that the property
comes with an approved licence for refurbishment

How To Properly Upload Videos To YouTube - Duration: 8:46.
Is there a right way to upload your videos to YouTube? There is and there's
definitely a wrong way. So we're going to talk about that today. Hey, it's Scott
Christopher once again here with Be the Hero Nate. Nate Woodbury talking about
YouTube and all things YouTube and how to be great on YouTube.
Did I say YouTube enough? I think so, one more time. YouTube. How to
upload videos properly on oh wait I had it. I had it, hold it, oh YouTube. There is
a way to do it properly and there's a way that you don't want to do it.
Hopefully this is actually just going to be a simple quick video because I'm going to
demonstrate how to do it. What you don't want to do is upload it to public. So let
me bring over my... Oh you don't? Yeah don't upload it public and I'll explain...Don't
we want the public to see it? Yes but not... Eventually. Alright, so we're here on
YouTube, when you upload a video, a little screen pops up. Yes this little box
right here. Okay. If it says public, that's a bad thing. You want to go into your
default settings and make sure it's unlisted or private.
I actually recommend private. In fact I'll show you because...Now it's only fair
that we should say that you're building a case here. I mean when you say don't
put it public, you mean for the moment. Correct. Right. But when you upload it, you
don't want it to go to public right then. Exactly that's what I'm saying and
there's a reason for that. Huge reason. Yeah. Okay, so I'll get to the reason let
me just show you how to change your default upload settings. I've got a
shortcut right here. I'll just go into my video manager. Tube Buddy. Quick a little
promotion by Tube Buddy. Okay, let's see if I come down here to channel. Hey there
that's it. There we are and then right here upload defaults and right here the
top one, I can change that to private. So if it says public, you can set it to
unlisted or I'm going to even recommend private and I will...Because unlisted is
still public. It's just not listed. So someone could stumble upon it or even go
to your channel...And that's not the problem. Right. Talking about the problem. Yeah but
the great advantage to private is when it's private, you can then schedule
it. That's when you're going public, okay? So now
that I'm...So there's a reason for that, for scheduling? Yeah as opposed to just
doing it right now. Yeah big one is convenience you can do things ahead of
time. But now that we've got the demonstration out of the way of how to
change your defaults and when you upload it. Okay. Here's the problem. If it's set
to public and you upload. So a video is uploading and it goes public,
that becomes the start date even if you then change it to unlisted or to private.
It's already gone public once and so then if you launch it a couple days
later, it will look back to the previous 48 hours, it's had no views. So this is a
bad... Getting a count, I see. Yeah, so it could be hugely detrimental to your
channel. Now, tell us why and maybe this is another video, which I know it is. But
why do we care if we're scheduling it anyway? What's the ultimate reason you
know to schedule a four days later? Why wouldn't I want to start it today? Well,
in the case of today, how many videos are we filming? 20. 20 videos we're
filming. 20 episodes today. We're obviously not going to release them all on
one day. We're going to start editing those, get them into the queue and we're going to
launch them just one per day. When you have consistent content like that that's
regular, you'll get the results that you want on YouTube. YouTube likes that
consistency. Your followers like that consistency so that's why we want to use
that scheduling tool. But even if I'm doing it manually and I'm just going to
manually go in it okay, now it's ready and I'll change it to public if it's
already been public before, your video just gets off on the wrong foot. You're
hoping to get a whole bunch of views but YouTube might have already
sent out the email. And you've already got all this history. Oh this video isn't
a new one. If people are going to your channel to look for new videos, it won't
show up as a new video. It will show up according to the first date. So I mean
when we film an entire months worth of these videos, in one day this video might
not actually go live for you know many weeks and if I accidentally uploaded it
to public and yeah. Yeah, yeah I see so basically what Nate
is saying is that every time that he's talking about uploading things onto
YouTube, changing settings, doing whatever. He's describing all of that in the
context of this process of shooting a lot of content in one day and then
spacing it out scheduling it for a month at a time. As opposed to just a one-off.
Hey I've got a video. I want to upload to YouTube. How do I upload it? Well, upload
it however you want you freak. What actually Nate didn't say that. That's
just me. But I would say even just as a
regular good practice, upload it private because you at the moment you might
not actually want it to go live right then. Yeah let me show you some other
things that you can do or that you want to do on your your video before it goes
like. And the freak thing, you're not a freak. You're a wonderful person. He uses that term
as a term of endearment. Ah, you freak. Alright, so here are some
videos of mine that are still private. You see though the lock. These are
going to go live soon. Once they're approved, in fact you know what?
There's a video that can go live today. Oh, okay. This video you see it was
uploaded back on June 12th but it wasn't uploaded public and so that date will
reset. If I come in here to edit this video and I'm going to... Let me show you some
things that I've done, that I want to make sure I've got a clean title in
there that has the search phrase. This is the leaf topic that I want. I've got my
description all. I'll set up the way that I want and then I've got the keywords
that I've chosen. This video has been transcribed. I've had it my assistant go
through and clean up the grammar in the automatic transcription and make sure
all the spelling is correct in there. We've added our cards. I'll even show you
we've added the end screen. In fact if my team hasn't. Then we will add it. But yep
it's been added. So the last 20 seconds there'll be this subscribe button that
appears right here and you know, they'll have another
video there. So these are all the different things that you want to make
sure are set up on your video before you make it public. So I'm going to come back
here and to the info and settings tab and now, I can manually go to public or I
can... Let me just show you the schedule. I'll schedule to go live in like 5 minutes.
So the time that we are filming this is 10:50 a.m.. Today's the 18th. It gives me
a warning because 10:30 was in the past. I'll have to do it for 11:00. So if I set
it to go live at 11:00 a.m., I just have to come up here and actually hit this
publish. There we go. Okay, so let's just save changes. So at 11:00 a.m. today,
it'll go public. And that's... Now do you do you research at all time zones
and ideal times? Is there you know for for a specific topic or a channel or you
know is it beneficial to look at that you know. There are nerds that are more
nerdy than I even and will research that. That's a really hard one because I've
got viewers all over the globe and different channels will have different
viewers and different time zones. That's like yeah, how do you know which one to
go after? I basically go after, most of my viewers are in the United States so I
posted in the morning in United States time zones .Then it's just matter... Yeah
you might find the evening is the best for you or you might find
that if you post just on weekdays or maybe weekends or like there's extra
special time on Saturday mornings. But I've just not stressed about that. I'm
sure it's just a pipe dream but it'd be great if I just knew that there were
people just sitting in front of their screen just waiting for the release of
my new video. If you post consistently at the same same time every day then you
will have that. Probably will get that. People know at 9:00 a.m. Scott's going to have a new
video up and he'll be waiting whatever time zone it is for them they'll know
that that time, ooh it's got to be, go what? It's 9:01. Where is it? Oh there it is.
Sure they'll do that. I know that because I do that on some channel. I'll
have to make... Maybe not to the minute but I'm like they haven't posted we do
this morning what's up? Yeah that's right. Yeah my content will have to be really,
really good for somebody to wake up there
to care. But that's just me. So what do you guys think? Are you going to
upload to public anymore? No. The answer is no. But make sure you subscribe.
The answer is yes. That's something you want to do. Hit that bell and I'll make more videos like
this.

Héviz - o maior lago termal do mundo - Duration: 6:54.
Sziasztok
My name is Patricia and this is another Hungarian Reality.
Today we are here in "Héviz", the second largest thermal lake in the world.
Now we are going to buy our Tickets.
We bought our tickets, paid 3600Ft
and now we'll get this clock to see here the number of our closet.
Well, now I've put my bath clothes and I'll show you a little bit of how it is here inside the lake Héviz.
Here they found some objects from the time of the Romans when they dived in the lake.
This region once was a sea, and here are the remains of marine sediments that they found.
Heviz can be frequented all year long.
In summer the temperature of the water reaches 40 celcius degrees and in the winter reaches the minimum of 25 celcius degrees.
Here we are in the inner part of Héviz, where you can also enter the lake to swim
Here we feel a very strong smell of sulfur, very strong indeed.
The smell is even stronger for people who don't have the habit of going to thermal baths.
And if you have not brought your float, there is no problem, here you can rent one,
because the lake is 38 meters deep.
Here you will also find ice cream shops and restaurants to make your day more even better!
After Budapest, Héviz is the city with the highest number of tourists in Hungary
Coming mainly from Germany, Austria and Russia...
Heviz is also well known for its waters with healing properties,
that's why there is so much tourists here.
Today is a very pleasant day,
it's almost 5pm and as you can see, there's still sun shining,
and here we are enjoing the healing properties of this waters...
As I've told you before, this is the second largest thermal lake in the world,
but if you consider only the biologically active ones, then this is the largest in the world.
And people come here to pass mud from the lake in the body, because, as I've already said, it's medicinal.
And now we're going to get in the SPA.
And here we have the people with the clothes of the latest fashion week.
And that was another Hungarian Reality.
I hope you enjoyed,
if you liked it, subscribe to our channel and leave your like!
and also leave here in the comments what you think about Héviz thermal lake!
Bye!

DIY Flange Nut Alternative With Set Screw - Duration: 7:36.
Hi, Alan Stratton, from As Wood Turns. (www.AsWoodTurns.com) I am preparing to do an experiment with my
threading jig and I had a particular problem with it. I took it to a Saturday event we
had for our club with other woodturners. Several of them are machinists. I showed them the
situation, my potential solution, and left them alone for a bit. They came up with something
radically different. What it was, I needed a flange nut. What is
a flange nut? I had to look that up. Essentially, a flange nut is a regular nut but with an
extra integrated washer and a little bit thicker and a little bit fatter. Then, I was to drill
and tap and put a brass set screw in the side of the flange nut to be able to hold a shaft
in a particular position. I checked the pricing on 1" by 8 tpi flange
nuts. They are expensive and rare. I said to myself. What do I do? What do I do? Finally,
I had an epiphany. I have a tap for a 1" by 8 tpi This is a Beall tap. And, I have
high density polyethylene, HDPE. And this application does not have to have steel. It
is low stress. So, why not make my own flange nut out of HDPE. Then, as I thought about
it, I need a round part and a hexagonal part. How do I do that with my equipment? I do not
have a mill. Finally, I said, what is the essence of what I need? All I have to do is
to make a bigger, thicker, fatter nut. So, this is a 1" by 8 tpi nut out of HDPE.
I tapped it and put in a brass screw. I could not buy brass set screws locally. And, I mushroomed
the head out to give me, in effect, a thumbscrew. I'll show you how I did it. What is it for
on the threading jig? Well, I'll show you that later if, indeed, it does work. But for
now, let's make this replacement flange nut.
Maybe on a bowl, I can wing it for the design. That is not the case here. I attempted to
draw in Powerpoint then switched to Corel Draw to get the accuracy I need. I especially
need the outside lines, the center mark, and the mark for the middle of a side.
I used contact adhesive to fasten the full sized paper pattern to 1" think high density
polyethylene. I rough cut the HDPE to get rid of the excess
material. I worked with a pattern maker who never tried
to cut exactly to a line. Instead he would cut close but never at the line.
At the disc sander I sanded each side flat and close to the line. Since I do not need
exact tolerances, I stopped when the sides were smooth but still shy of the line. It
turns out that sanding 1" HDPE with a dull sanding disc is tough going.
Now at the lathe to tap the nut. I center punched the nut and pressed it against a threaded
wood faceplate with double stick tape. I'm concerned that the torque of threading would
overwhelm the double stick tape with the small stick area. I've cut small scraps of OSB.
Since the faceplate is wood, I can screw the scrap around the nut to resist the torque.
The 1" Beall tap specifies a 7/8" pilot tap hole. I'm drilling that next. The HDPE
streams off nicely. I'm catching the stream to avoid mixing it with the shavings on the
floor. To thread, I'm mounting the tap lightly
in the pilot hole and held with light tail stock pressure. Then I moved the tool rest
to hold the spindle lock. Then I'm rotating the tap with a wrench while advancing the
tail stock. The HDPE cuts easily. While still mounted to the faceplace, I'm using a skew
to cut a chamfer at the start of the threads to make starting the nut easier. Then remove
the OSB and clean off the double stick tape. Now for the side hole for the set screw. The
pilot tap hole is 13/64 diameter. I use the pattern to align the piece on the drill press.
Across the thickness of the nut, exact placement is not required.
To tap the ¼" hole, I put the tap in my drill at low speed. Then ran the tap in and
out of the hole as slowly as I could. Excellent, worked great. Then tested the threads with
a ¼" bolt. I need a nylon or brass set screw since it
will be pressing against threads. Steel would mar the threads. However, I could not find
brass set screws locally. I purchased a brass bolt and planned to hammer the head into sort
of a thumb screw. I don't know all the safety considerations for this. But, at least, I'm
wearing my full face shield; I have nuts on the threads of the bolt to protect the threads;
I'm holding the bolt with nuts with vice grips. I have a short piece of railroad track
for an anvil and a typical framing hammer. Then I'm hammering the brass bolt head into
a flat half oval. This may work better than a set screw since I will not need an Allen
wrench to tighten it. Finally, I thread the 1" tap into the hole again by hand to clean
up the threads. I'm amazed, my shop built flange nut substitute
seems to be perfect. It is not exactly what my woodturning buddies specified. But it is
what I could make with the tools I have available and without the expensive specialized flange
nuts. This is a component to an experiment with my threading jig. I'll let you know
later whether my experiment actually works. This oversized nut was easier than I thought
and fun to make. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe on my website, tell your
friends and send me your comments and questions. Every week I make a new woodturning video.
Please wear your full face shield – goggles are not enough protection. Until next week's
video this is Alan Stratton from As Wood Turns dot com.

The chance came in stoppage time with Central Coast Mariners already 6-1 up. Usain Bolt wore shirt number 95 for the game and had several other chances to score
Afterwards he said: "It was good. It was what I expected. The crowd gave me plenty of motivation
"I think my fitness is much better, that the first week since I came here. I'm grateful to the Mariners for giving me the chance

Give you time to think about how you explain this one to the coworkers.
Exactly.
First, it was the upper decker in the men's room.
You ought to see what I left in the copier.
-Oh, you want the shrimp water? -You know what?
Kevin! No!
[ Softly ] Oh, it's briny.
That was a mistake on multiple levels.
-Yeah, get in there. -No!
[ Laughter ]
-One skrimp. -Mwah!
Plating is everything.
The shrimp is cooked.
I'd eat it if it was tossed in some noodles
or something else, but, uh...
Ooh, what about on a bed of spinach?
No.
-On to our third and final dish. -A poached egg.
Super-simple. Crack an egg, toss it into the little pot.
The hot water's gonna run through it.
I'm gonna hit "strong," 'cause that's how I like my eggs.
If you're a bit of a power lifter and you
like those egg whites,
you could just let it sit in there and it will strain it.
That's a bonus hack. But here comes that hot water
and even some shooting out of the machine, for some reason.
-Oh, God! -That's -- That smells farty.
-God. -Yeah.
-You ready? -Yeah.
-Gah! Ohh! Ohh! -Oh, no! Eww!
-Oh! It squirted! -Eww!
Oh, yeah. That needs another cycle.
Ewwugh!
That needs just one more quick cycle.
Get ready. Here we go. Farm-fresh.
Ohh!
Eww! It's so wrong!
Let's serve up your breakfast, Kev.
Oh, no. Brooke.
-No? Here we go. -Ohh! No!
Oh, wow. What a -- What a great hack.
The coffee machine did, in fact, steam some spinach.
Number two, it did kind of cook a shrimp.
I mean, that shrimp got pink.
If you didn't know where it came from,
you might've had a little nibble.
The egg was a bit of a fail.
There are plenty of reasons to make your coworkers hate you.
This does not need to be one of them.
Coffee-machine cuisine is, in fact...
...is wack. Yeah.

"SFORARE IL 3% SE NECESSARIO PER METTERE IN SICUREZZA IL PAESE" – I PIZZINI DI GIORGETTI A BRUXELLES - Duration: 7:33.

Why You Don't Want To Go Viral - Duration: 6:18.
I don't know if you can see how much it's raining on camera, but...
...it's raining a lot.
In 1988, Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond wrote "The Manual",
or "How To Have A Number One The Easy Way".
They'd had a novelty pop song hit the top of the charts earlier that year, and the Manual --
I've had to plastic-wrap my copy, it's a bit rainy --
was a tongue-in-cheek guide to success in the music industry:
how to achieve a number one single with no money and no musical talent.
Almost all of it is out of date now, but there's one section, right at the start,
that is as relevant today as the day it was written,
and it's trying to talk the reader out of what they think they want. And it says:
"The majority of Number Ones are achieved early on in the artist's public career
"and before they have been able to establish reputations and build a solid fan base.
"Most artists are never able to recover from having one
"and it becomes the millstone around their necks to which all subsequent releases are compared.
"Either the artist will be destroyed in their attempt
"to prove to the world that there are other facets to their creativity
"or they succumb willingly and spend the rest of their lives
"as a travelling freak show."
A number one song does not make a career.
In fact, it can kill a career:
if all you're known for is doing one thing,
all the world will want to see is that one thing.
A single popular video does not make you a YouTube star,
it makes you the person who stands up and repeats that catchphrase
over and over again until everyone's tired of it.
There are people out there who think,
just one big hit, that's all they need,
that's the path to stardom and being set for life.
They were wrong thirty years ago, and they're wrong now.
If you're a one-hit wonder,
then it's not you that's popular; it's that one hit.
What you need is a steady build, a back catalogue,
enough time to learn the skills that you need to survive under the spotlight,
to have long-term, sustainable success.
If you've been tasked by your boss to Make Something Popular,
or if you've had that one hit and now you need the second,
that is a terrible environment to be creative in.
If you sit round, with a committee, and you ask
"What's funny? What's good? What's popular? What can we make?
"What will people be interested in?",
then you're already on the wrong track.
But you know that idea you had when you were in the shower, or in the pub with friends,
or just letting your mind wander on a rainy beach today?
That idea might be good.
Your brain isn't indexed so you can say "think of something popular".
Your brain thrives on connections.
And it is way more difficult to make those connections when your job depends on it.
For me, it took me more than a decade of throwing stuff at the internet,
of steadily building up a small following and learning my trade before I found
the Things You Might Not Know format, an idea that really worked,
an idea that got me a large audience and
a chance to actually turn this into something that could support me.
By sheer luck, that happened at the point where I'd been working somewhere long enough
to build up some savings,
so I wouldn't be completely bankrupt if this new, shiny YouTube idea didn't work out long-term.
There's a reason that a lot of people who make stuff for online platforms are either
kids supported by their parents,
or students with a lot of time on their hands,
or folks who have the means to support themselves.
And even if you are one of the lucky ones,
if your project starts bringing in some money,
if you're lucky enough to have the budget to be able to book a last-minute sleeper train ticket
and travel to a remote, rain-swept Scottish island because it makes a better background for your video,
it could still end at any time.
You could get ill, or your audience could get bored.
Actually, your audience, they will get bored at some point.
There are some folks out there, mostly still teenagers,
with millions of people already following them and money rolling in,
and they think this is going to last forever.
But every band's second album is difficult,
and every TV show starts to lose ratings over time as newer things come along.
The internet works the same way.
The new stuff doesn't necessarily have to be better: it just has to be exciting.
People like to have both familiarity and novelty, but there's got to be both.
Too much familiarity is boring. Too much novelty is scary.
If you don't strike a balance, if you can't change with the times,
someone else will be ready and willing to take your audience.
For almost every creator making stuff for the internet,
the work they do is a passion project.
So if you're starting out, you should know:
it isn't going to support you for the first few years,
perhaps the first few decades, perhaps ever.
And if you are one of the lucky ones, if you've made it,
it very likely won't support you for life.
I mean, if this is a passion project, you probably won't care about that.
And as long as you know that, as long as you plan for it, that's fine.
But you'll have seen all the creators, in every genre on YouTube, talking about burnout.
Your dream job can still be a nightmare if you don't have a backup plan.
In 1994, six years after they wrote the Manual,
Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond pulled all their music from sale.
They went to their bank,
and they withdrew most of the money they had left over from sales and royalties,
both from the novelty number one single,
and from all the other hits they'd had since then.
They had one million pounds in cash.
They travelled to this island, Jura, in Scotland,
they went to an abandoned boathouse a couple of miles down the coast,
they burned all of that million pounds cash as art.
Now, I'm not about to do anything like that.
I wouldn't recommend doing anything like that.
I don't think they would these days, either.
But I am well aware that nothing lasts forever,
If all you're trying to do is repeat your one success,
or if all you're doing is trying the same thing over and over and over and over again
for years and you're getting nothing back,
then you might as well just be throwing your money in a fire.
So these days, I hope that my ideas work, and I try to accept when they don't.
And I try out new things.
And sure, my baseline is different to when I was starting out,
the same way it's different to that of a massive corporation
who might spend millions on one advert,
but the principles are the same.
I keep following all those rules I've learned:
I make as many things as possible, and I try to connect with people.
If you're starting out, success might take a week.
It might take a month. It might take a century.
But every idea you put out there is another roll of the dice,
and you can learn from however those dice fall.
That's how you get popular on the internet.
That's good enough. Augh! How is there--
How is there rain going down the back of my neck?
All right, I've got to go catch a ferry.
Pack away, catch a ferry.

A Quiet Place — Telling a Story with Sound - Duration: 12:09.
Hi, I'm Michael.
This is Lessons from the Screenplay.
(monster lands)
Sound always plays a particularly important role in the horror genre,
whether it's a hair-raising score, a terrifying effect,
or just a noise that gives away a character's location.
(crash)
But "A Quiet Place" takes this a step further,
making sound itself a key element of the story.
(noise on roof)
As writer/director John Krasinski said:
"The sound design is a main character in the movie...
The guys designing the sound, Ethan and Erik,
they're the most talented guys in the world.
You really got to see the art form of sound design at the highest level.
"Alright. Ethan, take one."
"Hi, I'm Ethan Van der Ryn."
"My name is Erik Aadahl.
I'm one of the supervising sound editor-…
(together) …sound designers on 'A Quiet Place.'"
Through my friend, Michael Coleman over at SoundWorks Collection,
I actually had a chance to visit the Warner Brothers lot
and sit down with Ethan and Erik to discuss the sound design process.
So today, I'll be asking for their input
as we look at the ways sound can be used to affect the emotion of a story…
Why thinking about sound during the screenwriting stage is so important...
And how contrast and dynamics can make or break a film.
Let's take a listen to "A Quiet Place."
In his book, "Screenplay," Syd Field says of writing sound into a script...
...almost nothing.
He all but dismisses it as something that will be added after the movie is finished.
In fact, most screenwriting material has very little to say on the subject of sound.
So when Scott Beck and Bryan Woods set out to start writing "A Quiet Place,"
they knew they had a challenging and unusual task ahead of them.
In a blog the duo wrote for Indiewire, they said of the process:
"Writing a silent movie isn't easy.
You can't use dialogue as a crutch.
And you can't bore the reader with blocks of description…
This process forced us to take an unorthodox approach to screenwriting,
in which we threw formatting styles to the wind."
In a normal screenplay, sound is often just written plainly in the action lines,
or sometimes it may be in all caps.
But one glance at the original script for "A Quiet Place" immediately shows
how far Beck and Woods took their experimental formatting,
which includes handwritten words, pictures of props,
and even charts and facts which may be fun for the reader
but are pretty useless to a filmmaker.
This screenplay breaks almost all the formatting rules,
but I will admit that the stylized nature is particularly effective
in its representation of sound.
Looking at the first two pages,
certain words are underlined to draw focus to the silence of the environment.
These underlined words stand out and give us a clear sense
that silence plays an important role in this family's life.
Similarly, Beck and Woods play with caps, font size, and word placement
to communicate silence, tension, and pacing.
In an especially tense moment, as the monster stands between the father and his family,
the script goes so far as to limit each page to a few words.
With each page the font size increases, highlighting the tension and need for absolute silence.
Ethan: "I love it when there's sound directions written into the script.
I think that it's so important for screenwriters when they're when they're writing
to actually be thinking about what is happening sonically in the world,
because it's a big part of the storytelling."
In many ways sound is one of the most under-appreciated
and under-utilized storytelling tools.
Erik: "We experience movies with two senses: our sight and our hearing.
I believe strongly that the hearing part of it is half of the experience."
We tend not to notice how important sound is until it's absent,
and it's precisely because it affects us in this unconscious way that it is so powerful.
Erik: "Walter Murch had this great saying, he said:
'Images come in through the front door but sound comes in through the back door.'
So you can be a lot sneakier with manipulation."
(creature sound)
Erik: "You can dig into that reptilian part of the human senses
and in a way with sound become kind of in a puppet master of emotions."
When writing, one of the most important goals
is to make the audience empathize with your characters,
and the same is true of the the sound design process.
Ethan: "Within every storytelling process there's going to be moments
where we want to experience what the characters are experiencing in a visceral way
and I think sound is really one of the key tools that we have as filmmakers
to help create that experience."
An example of this is found in the original screenplay for "A Quiet Place."
There is a moment that is written in such a way
that the reader perceives the action from a single characters perspective because the sound.
"Exterior: woods.
Path, afternoon.
April gets very still.
She turns up the volume on her hearing aid.
Just faintly, through the high frequency static, we hear the baby crying in the distance.
April stifles her breathing.
The sound of something else continues breathing behind her.
Out of focus, just ten feet away, we see it move slowly towards the sounds."
Writing the moment this way makes the audience experience the story events
through the point of view of the character,
and this technique was utilized several times in the final film.
(heartbeat)
Erik: "There's a number of different sonic points of view in the film from the creatures
and the family members…"
(monster's perspective of clock ticking)
Erik: "One of the central ones for us, design-wise, was for the daughter
Regan played by Millicent Simmonds,
who, in real life she's deaf.
And in the film her character is deaf as well.
So for a film that is so much about sound,
we felt it was really important to right from the beginning sequence
put the audience into her shoes and what it's like to live with a cochlear implant."
(toy beeping)
Erik: "So we get these shifts in the sound..."
(toy beeping)
(sound cuts out)
"...that I think helped connect the audience to her character."
(silence)
Experiencing the film from the sonic perspective of Regan
helps the audience empathize with her character,
but it's also the fact that these shifts are so stark that helps make them so powerful.
Erik: "We wanted to do really nice, hard cuts into it.
So you could really feel the shift of contrast between:
'here's atmospheric sounds that the other characters would be hearing, and woosh—
now we go into her head and there's this sort of low tone going under it.' "
This underscores the idea
that whether you're designing the sound for a film, or the plot of a film,
it's important to remember the need for dynamics.
When Beck and Woods began working on "A Quiet Place,"
it didn't take them long to realize it couldn't just be a movie devoid of sound.
Scott Beck said of the process,
"You had to figure out the pacing,
because you couldn't constantly have silence permeate the entire film.
You had to envision where there might be sound design moments."
But why?
Why was that such a crucial part of the development of the story?
Ethan: "Imagine a wavelength, of little difference between the top amplitude and the
lowest amplitude.
Everything starts to flatten out,
and what that does is it starts to flatten the experience out for the audience.
You start to disengage, and you push back from the screen,
and you push back from the experience."
If every sound in a movie was played at a loud volume from beginning to end,
not only would it be really annoying,
it would prevent any particular loud moment from being impactful.
So in "A Quiet Place," the sound is designed to be dynamic.
Sequences often begin at a low volume, and increase over time.
(yell)
What's important to note is that this mirrors the plot design of these sequences as well.
As tension builds, the sound builds...
...until they both reach the climactic breaking point...
(screaming / explosions)
But even then, neither the plot or sound stays at 100% for long…
(explosions trail off)
as the volume drops low again as the tension is reset.
This dynamic flow can play out not only over the course of an entire sequence,
but within a few moments of a scene.
Erik: "My favorite moment there is at the very end of the film where
the two kids are in this pickup truck.
Regan's hearing aids starts 'fritzing' and she switches it off.
Complete digital silence.
She's looking at her brother, who's looking past her,
and his face just blossoms into this look of sheer terror…
(crash / snarling)
…and that counterpoint—having this incredible performance, this really intense situation,
but just nothing supporting you, sound-wise it's just…
silence.
To me, that's like the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced.
So that was really fun."
This is a good reminder that sometimes silence is the best way to create suspense,
but after a long period of tension,
it's good to give the audience some catharsis before they're ready for more.
(muffled hoot)
Erik: "I think the best movies are scripted with sound in mind.
If you can build sound into the into the DNA of your script
then you're just gonna have a better movie every time."
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods's unconventional approach to screenwriting
may not supplant the decades-old formatting we're used to,
but it is a good example of what storytellers can do
when they appreciate the importance of sound.
It can connect us to a character in an emotional way,
making us immediately empathize with their situation.
And just like any element of filmmaking,
sound is most effective when it's utilized in dynamic ways to create moments of contrast.
(clanging)
And it underscores the power of dynamics—
reminding us that the plot of a film should flow between emotional states,
and that the loudest sound can only come
from a quiet place.
When I sit down to watch a movie,
it's often hard to turn off the analytical part of my brain and just enjoy it.
But when I listen to a story,
the emotion bypasses my conscious self and is often a much more moving experience.
Which is why I love listening to Audible.
Audible has the largest selection of audiobooks on the planet,
and since I just released a video on No Country for Old Men,
I think its the perfect time to recommend checking out the book.
While the film is fantastic for many reasons,
the amazing story all came from Cormac McCarthy's book.
And you can get the audiobook for No Country for Old Men for free

Can I File Bankruptcy After Transferring Property Into An Asset Protection Trust? - Duration: 1:50.
Not long ago, I set up an asset protection trust in Nevada, and I transferred some pretty
valuable assets into that asset protection trust.
Can I just go ahead and file bankruptcy now?
My name is Ron Drescher.
I'm an attorney practicing bankruptcy and creditor's rights in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania
and Virginia, and I would say do not file bankruptcy now, because under the bankruptcy
code, the Chapter 7 trustee can look back 10 years and see if you deposited assets in
what's called a self-settled trust, and basically, that's an asset protection trust, where you
take an asset and you put it into this trust, and you remain a beneficiary of the trust,
and you did it really because you wanted to keep those assets out of the hands of your
creditors.
That's no good.
You're going to have to wait 10 years from the day you transferred those assets until
you can file bankruptcy, so if that's what you're plan is, be very careful and be aware
of that 10‑year period.
My name is Ron Drescher.
I'm an attorney practicing bankruptcy and creditor's rights in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania
and Virginia, and if you're considering setting up an asset protection trust as part of a
bankruptcy strategy, please pick up the phone and call me.
I would love to hear from you.

When a Producer Says "NO," Supporting Your Career, & Shady People | #PitchChris - CHRIS DEBLASIO - Duration: 4:22.
On this episode of #PitchChris, we're going to be talking about what do you do when a
producer says "no," how do you support your career with a "jobby" job, and how
do you find out if somebody's shady in this business?
Hey, welcome to Episode 1 of #PitchChris, where you guys have questions about the entertainment
business and I'm going to answer them for you.
So let's jump right in.
This first question comes from Monica.
Let's see what Monica has to say.
When pitching your script to a producer, If they tell you that they are not looking for
that particular genre at this time, what should you do?
Hey Monica, that is a great question.
My first words of advice to you: don't worry, because a lot of times if you're pitching
your script to a producer and they say it's not the right genre, it's because they understand
what's going on in the market and what's going on in the world.
So if you have a romantic comedy or something like that and it's just not the right time,
understand that it's not a "no"; it's just a "not yet."
A lot of times what a producer will do is they will shelve your script and come back
to it when the timing is right.
But the most important thing that you can do is put it on your calendar and schedule
and call them.
When you're talking to them and they give you an objection like "You know what, it's
not the right timing," you say, "Okay, great.
I understand.
When can I give you a call back?"
Three, six months, a year, whenever it is, put it on your calendar and contact them back.
If you do the things that you say you're going to do and you follow up, you're going
to be that much more successful.
Let's get the next question.
How do earn a living and sustain a career doing what I love?
I hear you, Tim, but you've got to make a living, right?
I would say a lot of people in the business, especially actors, they're going to take
bartending jobs or waiting jobs.
But I would challenge you with this: try to find a job that supports your career that
is in line with the entertainment business.
For instance, I'll give you what I did.
I started an advertising agency and I started marketing for the entertainment business,
which allowed me to still be connected to the entertainment business and still produce
and do all the other things I love.
The advertising is actually what pays the bills.
So I would try to align myself with a job that supports the entertainment business.
Or maybe even – there's some paying gigs that you can be a secretary or answer the
phones at a production house.
It's paying the bills, but it's still aligning you with your passion.
So find those areas on what can pay your bills but also keep you connected to the business.
Let's take the next question.
How do I determine if someone is truly worth collaborating with?
I know there are a lot of shady people in this business.
Hey, that's a great question, and that's something that's near and dear to me.
I'm very, very particular in the people that I partner with.
One of the things that I do is I'll research them.
I'll find out what projects they've worked on, who they've worked with before, and
then I'll reach out to those people and try to get a background on that person I'm
about to work with.
Because unfortunately, there's a lot of people in this business that talk a big game,
and they're not worth working with.
You really want to vet these people before you jump into a project with them.
I've heard a lot of horror stories before, and there are some situations that have happened
to me before.
It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
But I would say continue to be open to people.
Don't shut down and just expect everybody's like that, because not everybody in the business
is that way.
But you definitely want to vet those people.
You want to make sure that you take a look at their history and interview all the people
that they're connected with to get a good feedback.
I hope that helps.
That's it for today's episode.
You keep asking those questions about the entertainment business, and I'm going to
keep answering them for you.

O QUE NÃO GOSTAMOS EM PORTUGAL - Duration: 8:16.
Hello guys, how are you?
Today we are going to talk about 2 things that we really don't like.
About Portugal.
Well, fot those that still doesn't know us
I'm Stephane, and he is Matheus
I'm Matheus!
And if you've never been here, welcome to the Channel "Oi, Mundão"
Subscribe to our channel, like this video
And here we go!
The first thing that bothers me DEEPLY in Portugal
Is the ways brazillians are treated
I would like to make it very clear that i'm not generalizing
Saying that everybody here in Portugal treats brazilians the same way
But I would like to say that the treatment is different based on my experiences
Also letting clear that we are not comparing Brazil, saying which one is 'better' or 'worse'
Because there's also things that we don't like about Brazil
And today we're going to talk about OUR experience as BRAZILIANS living in Portugal
And not only our experience, but also people we´ve talked and have the same...Affliction
Let´s go back for the fist thing I said in our first video that was about LANGUAGE
You guys know, portuguese, portuguese, we both speak the same language, I said that before
NO, WE SPEAK BRAZILIAN!
That's true, in Portugal we speak brazilian, we don't speak portuguese
That bothers me A LOT!
Because there´s people that make funny jokes about it, like
"Oh, you speak brazilian, you have a different accent"
Some people really do it in a kinda funny way
Most of the people use the "you speak brazilian" in a bad way
Trying to say that we don't speak portuguese, like, we don't speak the right way
They speak the "REAL" portuguese and we speak "brazilian" which is a 'SHITTY VARIATION"
I don't speak brazilian
Angolans don't speak angolan, Mozambicans don't speak "Mozambician"
Exatcly!
We all speak portuguese!
We have different accents of portuguese, but
- Just like happens to english! - Like the english, exactly!
But we speak POR-TU-GUESE
So the first rule to not annoy your friends is:
Don't tell him that he speaks brazillian
He speaks portuguese, just like you, ok?
All of us, my honey
Kisses!
Yet about the treatment, all of the people here think that the brazillians living here
RAN AWAY FROM THE GUNSHOTS in Brazil
Like, they ran away from the violence
No brazillians came here to work, to study, to have a experience in a different country, like us
Or to go backpacking
When you go to a place, to ask for information
Or in a restaurant, any place, when you are buying something, living like any cityzen
When you're living your own life
When people notice you´re brazillian
- They ask what he said - They don't ask, they claim!
like "You came here because your country is really bad, right?"
I was with to friends, one portuguese and the other from the Philippines
We were having lunch in a restaurant
and it was going through some political program on the TV
and the guy came to me, interrupted my meal
To point at the TV and make a loud joke in the restaurant
Oh, you came from brazil, right? Only in Brazil there's
Outlaws with
with
Uh
- International proportions - International proportions
it's really bad for us to go to a place
and people treat us like we're begging or living something bad
No, we're here, living our experience
and I thing that we, like any human being, deserve respect.
This is really personal, but it's about being woman in Portugal
The men are really sexist, like in Brazil
but here the brazilian girls are "known as"...
"easy", "slut", "bitch'
What is to be "easy"?
Exactly
When there's a whole society that points to that woman and say "I can do this", "I can harass her"
because she comes from that place, and she will let it happen
This is very serious
The second thing... What was the second thing?
the second thing here that is a little bit like...
that takes away your peace of mind, sometimes
it's the burocracy
Everything is very burocratic, and it's ok, because burocracy is normal
But the burocracy here simply doesn't work
Depends os the customer's face
You go to a place to get a document
In the same place, one person will say one thing and the other will say something completely different
about what you have to do to get this document
And if you come back the other day, the answer is gonna be yet another
or even if you come back in the same day, just later
if the guy have alredy had lunch and he's in a good mood, maybe he will say...
"No, you can have your document now"
"Not now, litte girl"
I remember when I went there to get my NIF (Portuguese tax number)
Someone with portuguese citizenship has to sign that for you
I went there with a guy to sign
And he was going to sign for me and a lady
They asked for a proof of residence from Brazil, so I took one from my father, since I don't have a house in Brazil becaus I live here
and there's my father's name in my passport
She said I could't do this because it wasn't in my name
I said ok
but the lady next to me took a printed RYANAIR flying ticket
and said "use this". And the clerk said "yeah, this works!"
"pimba", did it!
f*ck, it has begun!
So I came back on monday with a traffic ticket that I had from Brazil
It had my name and my brazilian address
The clerk said "Yeah, this works perfectly"
So she went to the office to print it, but then she came back and said:
"Well, my boss saw me printing this and she's not in a good mood today, so it's not going to work"
and I was like "Ok, so.... it's not gonna work anymore?"
"not really, come back another day"
I could come back another day with the same traffic ticket, and it would work
because probably in the other day the boss would be in a good mood
I went to the other place to do it...
and it worked
the guy that signed for me told me that once he got there to sign to a girl just arriving from france
they asked for the proof of residence and she didn't had any
she just found an advertising paper from a popcorn guy from france
so the guy made a joke like "yeah, use this address"
the clerk laughed of the joke and really did it
So you guys have idea of the level of burocracy?
so here it's kinda like: you try, try, try, try until Jesus hear your prayers and say:
"son, go there that maybe now it will work"
When we were thinking about doing this video about things that bothered us
we made a research too see if we were not paranoid
because sometimes you're so tired of living far from your home country, and dealing with tiny problems
that we start to get paranoid. But it's not!
Everybody complains about the same things
So it's like... impossible to understand

You all know, the technique to know if your prayer is effective.
Indeed often, or rather from time to time, Heaven gives Peace after a prayer.
Sometimes peace turns into a little joy.
So if from time to time you will receive this little joy, it is because your prayer is
effective, careful that does not mean that you will receive many graces, but
just that you are on the right path ...
If you do not have this joy look for a pray with the heart ... if you are not
not happy because children in Africa starve while we, we throw

The Demos - Making The "If You Only Knew" EP - Duration: 3:24.
(Dan) There's a lot of things that I would like to say about The Demos.
(Jay) So, last summer dan and Joey from Joywave
called me up and said they wanted to meet with me.
(Dan) Our bass player left our band, Joywave,
after the first record and we actually
asked Jay, the singer of The Demos to
join our band and Jay told me to f**k off.
(Jay) so I told Dan no and I told him that he
should produce the next Demos record.
I decided to work with The Demos because
they have a gigantic bank account from
which their singer Jay wrote me a check
for $60,000.
(Cal) It was great to work with
Dan because he obviously was coming at
it from a different angle than anyone
we've ever worked with before.
(Caela) I enjoyed working with him. I think that it it
really opened us up to a lot of new
ways of thinking about music.
(Jeremiah) working with Dan was awesome.
I've never been in
a position where I've been so
comfortable working with a third party
like that.
(RJ) I think Dan is great at sort
of understanding the backgrounds of each of us.
(Dan) The thing that I love the most
about The Demos is seeing them live and
specifically at the Bug Jar on a random
weeknight when everyone is intoxicated
it's uh it's like a little bit grungy
and grimy and rough around the edges and
my goal was to polish that except keep a
lot of the edge of it. So I wanted to
fall right in the middle and make an EP
where it sounded like the band only kind
of cared and I cared as the producer.
(Jay) I trust Dan. I mean, I've known Dan for most
of my adult life our bands have been
playing together since we were kids...
teenagers... and I've always been a huge
fan of his songwriting.
(Cal) We kind of grew up together around Rochester and playing
shows together and he mainly just wanted
me to be me and when there were
like times where we had to work some
things out, Dan was always very delicate
like in his approach with me.
(Jeremiah) I think it's like a great arrangement of songs
mean we went into it the with the idea
that we wanted to write four singles
so we're very like critical during the
writing process.
(RJ) I think this is very
dynamic bunch of songs.
(Caela) Honestly, these songs are...
my favorite songs that we've done....
Ever?
(Cal) I would have I would hope that
people would find the songs
the band refreshing the authentic.
(Jay) I think this EP is one of the best things
we've ever done.
(Dan) Every time I listen to
it, whatever song I'm listening to I
think is my favorite one and then the
next one starts and I'm like maybe this
one is my favorite.

Combined Arms v1.4 (Reupload) [Doom mod] - Duration: 14:51.
This video shows the main updates of Combined Arms 1.4 since the 1.0 version of this WAD,
the last one I covered here, on this channel. For those who don't know it, Combined Arms is a mod for
Doom created by Combine_Kegan that brings very interesting weapons that are significantly more
powerful than the vanilla's arsenal.
I started the video with one of the most obvious and cool news, the Blastmaster MKII, a rifle that
morphs in both appearance and attack depending on which part is collected and selected
by the player. It also has a really cool heating system where you can shoot the
heat with the altfire as a way to cool the weapon down, which can even change its behavior
as it is getting hot until it fully stops working until the head is dissipated in some way
The Beastmaster can be chosen to be played with at the game's start. It is not just a fun and
original idea, but also visually beautiful, with excellent animations and sprites.
Another thing you may have noticed is the new monsters that have appeared. They can be
activated with Combined Harms, a PK3 that comes separately and is not required to play CA.
I didn't notice very radical modifications in the enemies, only changes in the attacks, some in a
levels than others, some in behavior (Pinky got quite aggressive), death
sequences (like Cyberdemon's) and blood spats.
Later on, you'll notice that the standard Combined Arms arsenal has been fairly modified.
One of these changes was the Particle Smasher. Now, it only drops from the crates.
Take a look on how aggressive the Pinky is here.
It also has new crates' weapons, like the Icarus Rocket Launcher, the .100 Tactical Pistol and the Pocket
Revenant Box. You will see these later.
The Beastmaster is not as overpowered as the arsenal from the old Combined Arms' versions.
but even so, it is very efficient. I just don't know if I can play just as relaxed with the rifle.
This map's BGM by [Vitz!]
Now, I'm going to show the weapons from the Combined Arms standard arsenal on Map 32, a level that I
barely play on... At first look, it seems that it wasn't changed much, but some weapons have been removed,
replaced or had their behavior modified. Piratically, they all have been nerfed.
The pick-ups got new sprites from HyperUltra64.
The Plakanomicon's brick wall got nerfed, but it gained a buff in spells and reload
speed. It also got some cool glyphs that show up when it's used.
By the way, the crates now replace the BFG 9000 and can drop, in addition to the other weapons
which I quoted, that freaky baseball bat from CA v1.0.
Looks like the Gnasher is spending more ammo.
The Cygnis Rocket Launcher now shoots three rockets at once and has gained a new altfire.
By the way, this map was played with the new monsters.
I liked the Sharpshooter a lot. It replaces the SSG and the altfire detonates the caltrops it fires.
Unfortunately, Lilk's Ax got nerfed once again. It takes longer to recharge and had its damage
reduced. It's also no longer a boomerang, exploding after chasing the monsters a bit.
The Whiplash Shotgun also had its damage slightly reduced.
The starting gun can now be manually reloaded.
Next, I'll show the Blastmaster a bit more and the crate weapons. Also, I used Kriegsland Enemies
Pack, the monsters only version of Kriegsland, the Wolfenstein mod from GAA1992 and Yukes Von Faust.
I think this Fission Sweeper isn't alerting the monsters...
The HUD could also get fixed. Either it gets too small, or just for 8:6 resolutions.
I noticed bugs running Combined Arms v1.4 with Kriegsland Enemies Pack in GZDoom 3.5.0, but
in Zandronum 3.0 it seems fine. If you have trouble, try loading the monsters pack BEFORE
Combined Arms. The author said the mod was tested in GZDoom 3.2.4 and should work fine.
Now you have dropped what I wanted to show you, the Box of Pocket Revenants...
Certainly, this was inspired by the skulls that appear when the juveniles try to run
DemonSteele along with Brutal Doom. But the best is yet to come...
With CA 1.4 and Combined Harms, we practically get an extra mod with new monsters and weapons.
Now, look at my pistol (the game's one, of course).
It was a good move to put the most powerful and absurd weapons on the crates, which now replace
the BFG 9000. This brought more consistency and challenge to Combined Arms. However, I believe that for me
to be able to play it relaxed while I make comments about other subjects, I think the older versions would be
better. Their weapons make thinks easier.
Of course, there were more updates, rebalancings and bug fixes, but I listed only the most
relevant ones. I'll leave some old versions available for download too, which you can
get, along with more information, in the video's description, as usual.

Bye!
