झणझणीत कोल्हापुरी कटवडा - Spicy Kolhapuri Kat Vada Recipe In Marathi - Vada Usal - Sonali - Duration: 7:25.

There is one speciality of Kolhapur and that is kat vada (fritters made from potato).

It's also called vada usal in Mumbai.

And today I'm going to show you how to make them.

So let's begin.

The pan is already heated.

We will add 2 teaspoon of oil.

First of all we are going to make the kat.

So we will prepare it's masala.

One onion.

This onion is finely choppped.

We will sauté this onion till it becomes red.

To this we will add 1 inch of ginger.

And approximately 6-7 cloves of garlic.

Next goes in 1/4 cup of grated coconut. This is dry coconut.

We will add in now 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds.

1 teaspoon of cumin seeds.

1 tablespoon of coriander seeds.

And these are garam masala.

1 black stone flower.

1 inch cinnamon stick.

1 star anise.

1 Black cardamom.

2 green cardamom.

6-7 cloves.

And 10-12 balck pepper pods.

We have to sauté the dry coconut till it turns little red.

They have turned a little reddish in color.

Now we will add one finely chopped tomato.

The tomatoes are cooked.

And now we have to grind it finely.

And by adding very little water to it.

So we will grind it now.

Our masala is now ready and this paste is made like this.

I have added very little water to this and very finely I have grind it.

So we will start preparing the kat now.

The pan is now hot, to this I'm going to add 4 tablespoon of oil.

We want a nice layer of oil to float on top.

That's why add a little more oil.

The oil is hot now, to that we will add asofoetida.

Just 1/4 teaspoon.

Next we will add the masala which we have prepared.

1 teaspoon of turmeric powder.

And 2 teaspoon of red chilli powder.

If you like it more spicey you can add in more.

Mix it well.

Add salt, as per the taste.

Mix it well, again.

We have to sauté this masala well till it release it's oil on the edges.

This masala has nicely realeased it's oil on the edges.

To this we will add 4 cups of water now.

We will bring this to a boil and then keep this kat aside.

And begin to prepare the batata vada (stuffed potato fritters).

We will begin with preparing the filling for batata vada.

Add 2 tablespoon of oil.

After the oil is heated we will add in 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds.

Let it splutter nicely.

I'm going to add in now few 4-5 curry leaves.

But im going to break it into half and put them in.

I have made this mixture so I have used 10-12 cloves.

I have taken 1 inch of garlic, some coriander leaves.

4-5 curry leaves, and approximately 3-4 green chillies.

You can add in green chillies depending how spicy you want.

And I have not grind them finely.

If you pound this mixture, the flavour will be more enhanced.

I'm going to add this mixture to the pan.

We have to sauté this nicely on low flame.

And take out the raw flavour of the ginger and garlic.

Add in 1 teaspoon of turmeric.

Mix it well.

Now we will add in potatoes.

I have boiled 6-7 potatoes here.

I have just crushed them.

I have not not mashed it finely.

Add salt as per the taste.

Mix it well together.

We have to do all of this on low heat.

Our batata vada filling is now ready.

We will now begin to make it's covering.

For it's covering I have taken 2 cups of gram flour.

To that I will now add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric.

Salt, as per the taste.

Approximately 1 teaspoon.

I'm going to add a little baking soda. Just a pinch.

This is optional.

If you want you can add it.

But this gives a nice softness to it's covering.

We will now mix everything together.

And we will mix it by adding water little by little.

We want a consistency like this.

This is become a smooth batter and there are no lumps in it.

So we will begin to make batata vada now.

We will make rolls of this filling now.

I'm going to make them of this size now and faltten them like so.

If you want you can make them round too.

We will fry them now.

The oil is heated and keep it the flame to medium now.

Flip them to the other side.

They got a nice golden color.

We have to fry these for 2 mins.

If they become nicely golden like this, then we will take them out.

Our kat vada is now ready, we will serve it now.

Our kat vada is now ready, you can eat this with bread.

That is according to club legend Gary Neville. Solskjaer guided United to their ninth win in 10 games under his tutelage against Leicester on Sunday afternoon

The Norwegian initially arrived from Molde with the plan to steady the ship until the end of the season, but such has his success been that the 45-year-old is now the bookies' favourite, ahead of Mauricio Pochettino, to become Jose Mourinho's long-term successor

And Neville, who played with The Baby-Faced Assassin for 11 years in Manchester, believes Solskjaer now has a terrific chance of securing the top job

"I said before the Leicester game I thought, when he took over the job, he had 25 per cent chance of getting it [permanently]," the eight-time Premier League champion told the Gary Neville Podcast

"I would say now he has 50, 60 per cent chance of getting it. "I still conclude that I think by the end of March, early April is the right time to really start to make a judgement

"Because we could be sat here in three or four weeks' time and Manchester United have just played Liverpool in the league, Chelsea in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League

"If those results go against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, will we all be sat here saying 'ah, he's not the right man for the job?' "And yet he's been beaten by four of the best teams you can play

"Away from home at Stamford Bridge, which is a terribly difficult ground for United to play at, Paris Saint-Germain - one of the favourites for the Champions League - and Liverpool, who are obviously top of the Premier League in this moment in time, and the Manchester Derby soon after

"You think of that period of six to eight weeks, I think it's the right thing to do judge it at the end of that

"And that's not necessarily by the results, but by the performances."
