So, this week we are gonna show you

how we built the doors of our wardrobe.

So, let's get started.

I'm Duca.

And I'm Roberta.

And together we are building our own tiny shipping container house.

Took us months to decide which color we want for the doors of the wardrobe.

And we finally decided it.

That's gonna be the color.

Yeah, but that is gonna be the outside color, right?

Yep.

We decided to use white inside because it's way cheaper than this one.

Yeah, the thing is we could just apply this in front and just paint the back but if we don't paint right the back

it means that the door can warp because if you apply laminated in one side and the other one is not laminated

it's going to absorb more water and then it warps.

So, it's much more safe to apply the laminated in both sides to make sure it won't warp.

So to save money we're gonna use white that actually we have some leftovers.

We bought a new one, but we have it already.

But we're gonna use it because white we always use.

So it's gonna be white on the inside and this beautiful color on the outside.

So, let's do it.

That's it.

I mean... now we need to cut the plywood.

So, let's cut the plywood now.

First door. This is the first door.

And I'm curious to see it in place.

Let's see if it works actually. If it fits.

Surprise.

Yeah, it's gonna fit.

We just did a template.

Just to make sure we know

how much over the plywood goes, because it goes overlap.

So how much is the overlap and we calculated the distance between here and here plus 2 overlaps

and that's how we got to this measurement.

And the height is the opposite.

The height we need to see how much we want on the bottom.

So we subtract the total height minus this minus that and we have the right height.

And it's right.

We have a lot more to cut.

6 more.

Let's cut then.

So the reason why we have to tape is to make sure that this cut is clean

because it's perpendicular to the fiber of the plywood.

And it makes a much much cleaner cut.

It just makes a huge difference.

It's pretty good.

So, what's the plan?

We're trying to create a template so we can carve the handle with the router.

It's gonna make sense. Just give me another 5 minutes.

And that's the jig.

We're gonna clamp

this jig on the door.

Like this.

And then we get the router

and we carve.

Oops...

I just realized it's wrong.

We did the wrong measurement.

We need to do it all over again.

But now we know what to do.

So let's skip this part and go straight to the jig ready.

Now.

So after a while we came up with the jig.

Finally.

All we need to do now is to

clamp the jig here and trim with the router and we have the handle that we want.

But we need to be honest.

This was the forth one.

Yeah, forth.

Yeah, took us a few attempts until we got the handle we wanted.

That was the first one.

We did it wrong.

We forgot to add this space.

Yes, so basically needed to have 4.2 centimeters until the bit carves.

This was the first one, this was the second one.

We fixed this problem.

But then...

We couldn't have the same curve, the same angle here.

I don't know why the angle is the same but once we carve just ends up with a different angle.

It still doesn't make sense for me.

But at least all of these are made with scrap pieces that we were not gonna use anyways.

So it's not like that much waste of material.

And then we came up with this one.

To fix a mistake of that one.

What's good, it works straight. But we didn't like that the handle was too small.

So we wanted to make it a little bit bigger.

And we came up with this. This one is the one we liked.

The final one.

The number 2 is here, right?

So basically we want to have doors like this so we need to have 2 handles.

And we want them to match.

So now we need to draw the line together just to make sure we have the same line.

Let's start with door number 2.

So now that we have the reference line we match this line with this line.

So basically doors are gonna have like a small gap that will became...

That is pretty good. I like it. Let's do the rest.

Contact glue

15 minutes later....

It's time for the tricky part.

It's something that we have been postponing for a while but we need to put the hing... How do you call it?

Hinges.

That is kind of tricky for who never done it before I guess.

So it's this kind.

That basically we need to cut a

35 millimetres hole in order to fit this in here.

And to do that as we're gonna do it too many times we brought out the big drill press.

It's been a long time we don't use the drill press.

And there is this jig

that supposedly is gonna help us.

Basically, these are all the holes necessary for this hinge.

Made by the manufacture.

And now I put this in the center.

This is just make sure the drill won't slide.

I think it's gonna help.

And now...

The tricky part.

One done.

Now we need to make sure this is square.

That's it.

Now we have 2 that is what we need.

All we need to do is to

make sure that this is as much close to the door as possible.

And then once it's in place, we can calibrate.

And this needs to open up a little bit.

And like this is easier to install and make sure that this is close to the wardrobe itself.

It's so cool.

We did it.

I mean, we still need to calibrate it but...

It's perfect.

It's working...

nicely.

That's pretty good.

Yeah, now we still of course need to calibrate this, but...

The handle...

Isn't that cute?

That's so cool.

Actually, it was easier than we thought to install the doors.

I mean, we still need to install these 2 doors.

But it looks so cool.

I love it.

They can see it.

I didn't know if they could see it.

That's so cool.

And there is the break.

Let's install these ones.

So now it's getting dark we're gonna install this 2 and tomorrow as usual

we're gonna come back and show you how that looks.

So, tomorrow it is.

I mean like the color is much better than we thought and like just I don't know it's just a good color.

The whole thing is way better than we thought.

And the handle was this an idea but the idea actually worked.

The idea was to save some money.

Yeah, if we would need to buy handles we would need to spend money on the handles.

And like this we've just carved.

There's no cost involved in that. We had already to bit to do that so...

It's just amazing.

And the breaks...

It's really good.

Yeah, the plan this week actually was to finish the whole bedroom

and to have all this painted already, the bed and everything.

But painting takes a lot longer than we think and this took a lot longer than we thought.

Even though it was not that hard but it took a long time.

We spent like 3 days just on the door.

But let less excuse,. Let's show you one thing that people asked it about on last week's video.

A lot of people didn't understand what we mean.

And that's what we meant.

All this is storage.

So we can open up this.

Here we're gonna have 4 drawers and that's gonna be a really cool idea.

That's a surprise.

But it's gonna be really simple and cool.

That's gonna be really nice. I'm excited to build that.

We didn't build it yet but will next week.

The last horror movie about

the art world has come:

Velvet Buzzsaw, the title says it all.

A horror movie about the art world,

or is it the art world a horror movie?

This is the most important question.

An original Netflix production

with a stellar cast,

finally about the art world,

a world that is so acclaimed and celebrated

by all the art operators.

Finally a movie set

in the nowadays art world

where big fairs like Art Basel are showed

as well as big galleries that tell that

world which encompasses

a niche of art professional,

gallerists, curators

and artists that in some way

rule the art world nowadays.

The movie is about a fascinating

art world but creepy and

tough at the same time

also thanks to the stories of certain characters

like art critics that set the rules

of the market.

Curators that fight to have

power and visibility,

harassed assistants by powerful

gallery directors

to move on than to the artists,

that, even if worshipped by the critic

and by the market,

they are portrayed as bored

and with no inspiration.

This was already enough

to make a great movie

or anyway a movie loved by all

the passionates, collectors, artists

and art professionals that someway

find themselves in some affairs,

maybe exaggerated for scenic purposes

however this was already a great start.

But the main plot of the story

is actually about a mysterious

disappeared artist.

I don't want to spoiler it,

So I am not gonna tell you what happens,

Just know that there are killings,

And paranormal events

All of this to tell you that,

In my opinion,

The first part was enough.

However this is the movie.

Netflix, for this production,

Went very big.

It involved first class actors,

Like Jake Gyllenhaal,

Toni Collette, Rene Russo,

And an amazing John Malkovich.

But what interests us,

Is the way the director,

The authors, and the actors

Interpreted the nowadays art world

And how they portrayed the contemporary art world,

The importance of the art critics,

Of their weight, for better or worse,

In the life of an artist.

The curators, the gallerists, the assistants

And all the staff that runs alongside

The galleries that have profit for millions euros.

Very interesting was also the insight

About the curators, making a difference

Between the private ones, and the one

Who work in the museums

About budget differences,

Of the aspirations but also

The search for validations

That is the chance to exhibit

Emerging artist often known and

Made from nothing by the

Gallerists and curators

and their commitment to bring them

inside the museums in order to

Raise their value and start a

Path of big growth also economical.

One obvious way to get local clients is to get listed on Google my business. And

it is from Google, so we all know it must be good. It is probably worth it. If you

are new and you haven't created my Google business profile yet, this video

will help you how to do it. If you had your profile on Google my business for a

while, when was it the last time you updated it? Do you know, that there are

some things you should do and there are some things you definitely shouldn't do

because it can hurt your business? Well we will discuss all that in today's

episode of money Monday, marketing for photographer series and it is episode

number 7.

For the new visitors, my name is Zdenka Darula and I work as a photographer for

many many years. I am a former model and few other things. If you want to be

listed on a first a result page of local audience, open up Google my account and

start now. Now take your time when it comes to filling out your profile. Don't

skip it, just make sure you fill out all details

correctly. Take your time and do it right. Here are some suggestions as we go. You

will need your business name, whatever it is. And you will need your address. If you

have your studio or office address, put it there. Now what happens, if you don't

have that specific studio or office address? Lots of freelance photographers

work from home, or they don't have physical studio address or office

address and it's totally ok. It is the best to list your city where you live in.

You will still be listed in a search. It is a good idea to be listed even though

you don't have a physical storefront. If you are thinking about listing P.O.Box

address it is not a very good idea. It might have a negative impact on your

business so rather stay with just the city. Next you will need to select your

category. You can use photographer as your category, that will do just fine.

Other categories they offer is wedding photography, aerial photography,

advertising photography, photography studio or photography service. What you

should avoid is using non-local phone number. Also you should stay away

from creating Google my business multiple pages with the same phone

number or also using the same business title. That could have negative

impact on your business as well. On the other hand, here are things you

should do. Use keywords in your Google my business page description, add as much

information as possible. Add as many photos as possible but choose only the

best photos which are actually relevant to your services. And if you want you can

add their video as well. What is highly important here, are

reviews. They are not going to help you with the SEO which is search engine

optimization but they will encourage people to click on the links as it

builds trust. If you are new photographer, start

collecting reviews right from the beginning. Once you shoot a client, ask him

politely if they don't mind posting a review for you on Google. Try to get

those reviews consistently not just getting whole bunch of reviews now and

then another whole bunch of reviews in a half a year. Don't review your own

business, Google doesn't like it and you know it's kind of...…. well don't do it. And

when somebody leaves you a review, all you have to do, politely reply thank you.

Once you complete the profile, you won't need to go through verification process

so just follow all the steps there. Once you receive that verification email, you

are all set. But all the work doesn't stop there. When it comes to marketing

and all the business stuff, you will have to stay consistent and you will have to

do updates periodically. Don't just kind of forget about it because you might

actually start losing the chance of getting your clients. So stay fresh. There

is a great feature where you can create a post. You can offer something. You can

create a promotion, you can offer a coupon or discount and you can run it for

specific time. And just like any other account, we can visit insights which is

basically analytics report for your business listing. Here you can see how

many people found your business, how many people requested directions, where they

were coming from and how many people actually clicked on the link to

your website. And you know any photographer needs more exposure these days and this tool

is available. It's free and it's easy to use, so don't postpone it any longer. And

while you are at it, you can actually go to another search

engine called Bing and type in Bing places for business. Bing places for

business and create another account like that. It works the same as Google my

What Are We Doing to Prepare for the Next Big Oil Spill? - Duration: 5:09.

The next oil spill won't be a matter of if — but when.

Deepwater Horizon may have happened years ago, but significant research is still being

conducted to learn as much as possible from the biggest oil disaster in recent United

States history, and to find new, less toxic ways to reverse future oil spill damage.

During Deepwater Horizon I believe there were 15,000 actual phone calls into the command

post suggesting different ways of cleaning up and doing things.

If we're doing the same thing every different spill, we're not doing the best we can.

Michael Ziccardi spent five months in Louisiana during Deepwater Horizon

responding to the disaster.

It's his job to think of every aspect of oil spill response.

Recently, he has been tracking the behavior of affected marine birds after they have been

cleaned by the Oiled Wildlife Care Network, a world-wide model for oil spill preparedness

and response.

Just by going to the Oiled Wildlife Care Network website we can actually see real time

where these animals are at.

I honestly think that every oil spill needs to be a learning opportunity.

During the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, they did a lot of what are called

alternative response techniques.

They burned the oil off the surface of the water, but they also used a larger volume

of chemical dispersants.

Nearly seven million liters of dispersants known

as Corexit 9500 and 9527 were used.

The concept is it's a surfactant, or a detergent, that goes on top of the oil

and breaks it up into very small molecules,

driving it into the water column itself.

The idea with that not only is it less risk to animals that might be on the surface of

the water, but by sending it into the water column it's actually allowing bacteria to

break down the oil.

Dispersants work similarly to dish soap.

Surfactants are long molecules that are water-seeking on one end, or hydrophilic,

and oil-seeking, or oleophilic, on the other end.

When the surfactant is in turbulent, moving water, it reaches across the oil-water boundary

and lowers the tension between water and oil — allowing it to break apart.

This was the first time dispersants had ever been used at such an enormous scale.

Mike's research centers on how Corexit may affect wildlife — specifically, marine birds

and their complex feather structure, which is responsible for keeping them warm.

So the feather structure of birds is fascinating.

It's a combination of barbs and barbules and hooklets.

Think of a piece of Velcro.

The feathers basically make that Velcro.

When oil affects a bird, there's an artificial separation in that Velcro so it can't stick

together.

So what ends up happening,

is water can seep through the feathers and down to the skin.

What we found was something we did not expect at all.

At high concentrations, they lost their waterproofing almost immediately.

But that waterproofing actually resolved itself within a matter of a day.

So it seems like it was a temporary loss and just by swimming in water, or over time they

could actually lose that impact.

It could be that if dispersant application occurs, you can throw out a raft that animals

can haul out on to get themselves warm. They don't need to be captured, they don't need

to be brought into rehabilitation where they're going to be there two or three weeks.

It's just that temporary fix.

Animals could survive it, as long as they're not in the oil as far as the dispersant application.

Although the birds' waterproofing seems to recover, Corexit is still very controversial.

And Mike and his team — as well scientists around

the country — are still investigating the impacts of Corexit's toxicity.

Mike hopes this information will shape future decision-making during oil spill response

efforts, and encourage alternative approaches that could be less costly and less intrusive

to wildlife.

I think for the foreseeable future oil spills will always be there.

I believe that we have a moral obligation to try to repair the damage and to try to

reduce the impacts on the wildlife.

It is truly the only thing I've ever wanted to do, is to try to help animals in crises,

especially in crises that humans cause.
