Jurgen Klopp made a mistake in the hunt for Liverpool's first Premier League title according to Alan Shearer
The Newcastle legend and all-time leading record goalscorer in the domestic competition claimed the Reds could have handed Manchester City the title by letting Nathaniel Clyne go on loan to Bournemouth last month
Klopp's men had an opportunity to go seven points clear at the top of the domestic table over Pep Guardiola's side but now after two draws against Leicester City and West Ham the Reds find themselves equal on points with the defending champions with a game in hand

Midfielders James Milner and Fabinho have been forced to fill in at right-back, with regular deputy Clyne shipped out to Bournemouth
The England international was desperate for first-team football and his exit sparked suggestions that Klopp was set to dip into the transfer market last month
But Liverpool failed to replace Clyne and Shearer fears they could have handed the title to City by not bringing in any cover
"In City's favour is that they know how to get across the line," he told Coral
"They've been there before, and that is a massive advantage, although we know how difficult it is to win back-to-back titles, so there is still so much to play for

And with Pep Guardiola's side in the Carabao Cup final next weekend, the Reds could take advantage in their game in hand against fierce rivals Manchester United
