This video is an update to my old performance boost video for rust.
Take a look if you are interested in some of the details of what each command does.
Rust keeps being updated and in the older config file needs replacement.
The shadows can not, sadly, be removed any more but let's see what else we can do to
get this game running is something as low as an IntelHD GPU.
This is the LowSpecGamer, where we keep up with early access games not to see what are
the new features but rather to see if how well they do in low end computers
So, forget about beautiful textures and being able to see enemies in the distance because
we are making this game run… again.
Hey!
There is a couple of days left for the Humble Bundle Best of 2016!
A collection of some of the best games sold in Humble Bundles last year.
And hey look!
This game is here!
For less than 5 dollars!
Remember that if you use the link in upper left corner you will be helping the channel
and the charity you guys help me choose.
Let's get right to it.
I am going to start with the lowest settings on every single element in the game, but this
time the configuration file is working correctly.
You can find the configuration file rust in the install directory of the game, in the
case of steam this is on the steam games directory, common apps, rust, cfg and the file is called
client.cfg.
You will find the cfg file.
In the description you will find the current configuration file I am using.
Some important points are lodbias, which is usually on 0.5 and now reduced to 0.25, shadowmode
0 which uses the lowest shadows possible and shadowdistance is now stuck on 50, no lower.
Sorry!
Right, something I did not talked about in the last episode is resolution.
Here is the thing, if you add a custom resolution for your GPU, it will show up in the game's
launcher.
To do this, you need to go to your intelhd control panel or in some intel gpus look for
a program in windows/system32 called custommodeapp.exe and in there you can add custom resolutions,
I will be using 768x432, it's light, and it is "widescreen".
You can also add custom resolutions in your nvidia or amd control panels.
With the new resolution and config file in place I set out to see how this game behaved
an intelhd 4000 computer, a test I streamed.
Take a look:
And we're off.
Give it a second to load.
And there's already a guy trying to get me, ok, that's interesting now.
Before, I was testing this, with less players so I was getting better performance.
Well, that's a bit Duh!
But it's not bad.
For starting with IntelHD.
Is this harvestable?
Yes!
Ok perfect cause I'm going to need stone and I'm going to need wood.
In order to start crafting tools.
Yeah, welcome to Hitting Stuff with Rock Simulator, a fantastic and beautiful game about hitting
stuff with rocks in order to gather resources because that's apparently fun.
Woah, are those gunshots?
Seriously, so this is the kinda thing that I hate about this kind of survival games.
You're running around with a rock, naked but some guy snipes you from half the map
away.
"The graphics are so low it's not even technically nudity".
Yeah, it's not me, this are the graphics, I am censoring the game
Oh shit!
"Run for your life, man!"
Oh the joy of playing games online.
Ok, any of you guys – shit – are aware of what button do I to press?
To the water, yes, what button do I have to press in order to chat in this game?
Like voice chat.
What's the "push to talk" button
I'm trying to figure that out.
Hi sengi, have you played this game before?
"Well, A little bit".
Good because have no idea what I'm doing.
"Yeah, ooh, something's coming.
Run for your life!"
… Well that was quick.
Ohhhk.
"Piece of shit".
Ahh.. especially because there's no way I can build some tools or do anything with
this lack of light.
Well, there's trees and I needed wood so… where there's wood, there are trees there's
wood, how do I get up here?
Woah!
Fucking hell.
I didn't expect that.
I didn't expect that.
That's a full dong to the face.
Oh my god.
Oh my god, it's still after me.
I knew this game- as I said, this gam's full of dicks.
This game's full of dicks.
Fuck this people, seriously.
Why do I even try?
Oh my god.
So- fucking hell!
Are you even serious?
Seriously, why even kill a new player?
I mean I have nothing to offer.
Fun, this is so much fun.
I paid money for this videogame.
Is that a wolf?
Yeah!
When people are not killing me, animals are!
Oh boy, well!
That's enough of that test, I have seen enough, I think.
