Pasolini e Sabaudia - Duration: 6:02.
Here we are in front of the structure, the profile, the shape of another city,
immersed in a sort of grey lagoon-light despite this amazing Mediterranean vegetation around us—Sabaudia.
How we intellectuals used to mock the regime's architecture,
cities like Sabaudia!
Yet now, looking at this city, we discover a completely unexpected feeling.
There's nothing unreal or ridiculous about its architecture.
The passage of time has transformed these fascist buildings into something that is, let's say, somewhere between 'metaphysical' and realistic.
Metaphysical in a truly European sense of the word—
reminiscent, for instance, of some of De Chirico's metaphysical architecture.
And realistic because, as one can see even from afar, the cities are made—speaking a little rhetorically—on a human scale.
One has the feeling that inside them there are normal families, human beings,
people that are alive—complete, intact, full in their humility.
How do we explain a thing like this that seems almost miraculous?
A ridiculous fascist city has suddenly become so enchanting.
We need to examine the matter.
Sabaudia was created by the regime, there's no doubt.
But in fact there's nothing fascist about it, except for a few external features.
So here's what I think:
Fascism, the fascist regime, was in the end nothing but a bunch of criminals in power.
And this bunch of criminals in power was not really able to accomplish anything.
They didn't manage to have any effect, not even to make the slightest scratch on Italian life.
And so Sabaudia, although it was laid out by the regime following certain rationalist, aestheticizing, academic criteria,
doesn't have its roots in the regime that laid it out.
Its roots lie in a world that fascism dominated tyrannically but was unable to scratch.
In other words, it was the provincial, rustic, barely industrialized (and so forth) Italy that produced Sabaudia, not fascism.
Now, however, we see the reverse happening.
The regime is democratic and all the rest, but today's power—the power of consumer civilization—
has managed to achieve perfectly the acculturation and the conformity that totally eluded fascism by destroying the particularity of the world,
depriving existence to the various ways of being human that Italy has come up with by so many different means in the course of history.
It's this acculturation, then, that's actually ruining Italy.
So I can say without hesitation that true fascism is this power of consumer civilization that's destroying Italy.
And this has happened so quickly that we haven't even really noticed it.
It's all happened in the last five, six, seven, ten years.
It's been a sort of nightmare in which we've seen Italy destroying itself all around us, disappearing,
and now perhaps we're waking up from this nightmare, looking around us, and realizing it's too late to do anything about it.

This year I'm trying to bring you more videos, cuz you always ask me for this!
Subscribe for this channel because we're gonna have lots of new videos this year!
I wanted to wish you all a great 2017, hope you can pursue your goals
And ... that's it!
(Dunno what to say...)
In today's video I decided to open My Christmas presents!
(Whut? Christmas gifts in January?)
You know how Brazilian Correios is, right?
As most of the presents I received are from outside the country, some of them took
a while to arrive... but some arrived just in time for Christmas!
And I have been since Christmas unable to open my presents because I wanted to open here in front of you!
So you can see my reaction!
Let's start?
The first gift I received from a friend of mine, from the United States, and I changed the box
Because she was all falling apart.
But...
I got super happy!
Look at this, seriously...
Look at this fabric.
Look at this!
There are those two blue ones ...
And there's this black one.
The quality is incredible!
It's really good!
Many plans with this fabric.
Thank you, Miles!
And there's another one from Miles!
Let me find it...
Got it!
It's a catsuit!!!
How cool!
Many of these gifts I had in my Amazon Wishlist, so...
It was actually my personal list of things I wanted to buy ... and everyone was
Asking a lot what I wanted to get for Christmas so I decided to make this wishlist available.
So many of the gifts I kinda already know what it's gonna be.
I kinda was already hoping.
So... Thank you so much!
I needed these things so bad.
Oh god!
This is so beautiful!
It's the most beautiful catsuit I've ever seen!
Wonderful.
Thanks a lot, Miles!
Next...
This gift is from Chad!
Oh, that's nice!
Do you know what is this?
I wanted it soooo bad!
I'll definitely make a photoshoot wearing it on Patreon, so feel free to sign up,
I'll add the link here in the...
(Lynx, don't!)
...in the description box!
And we also have...
Ohh that's cool!
Thank you so much, Chad!
Next...
It's quite small!
This gift... Who sent this?
I can't see anywhere.
I wanted to know who sent this...
I really wanted something, anything From Celtic Guardian...
I can't find anything related!
Oh gosh!
That's a miniature!
From Celtic Guardian!
Are you aware that every board game from now on that I play... I'll be Celtic Guardian?
Oh, I loved it so much!
Great!
Very very cool.
Oh thanks!
Next...
This is from the Alterego store!
Coincidentally, it arrived for Christmas. It's from a Partnership we are going to do.
And I decided to open here together!
Very cool, a handwritten letter.
Oh, it's a shirt ... Nice.
It's a cropped!
How beautiful!
Maybe it's a little bigger than my size, But it's beautiful regardless!
Loved it!
Thank you so much!
I'll add the link from that store on the description box so you can access
That's my recommendation.
Next...
This is from Henry!
How cool!
I'm in love, guys!
I love plushies...
And I love Inuyasha!

Thank you so much, Matthew!
I wish the same for you, a great 2017 with all the happiness in the world!
Next...
There's no name!
"To Danielle, hope you have an amazing Christmas. From Chris"
Thank you, Chris!
Hm, a great 2017 for you!

"Wish you all the best for 2017. Dennis"
Dennis, thank you!
I wish you everything in double!
It's over, guys!
Hope you liked this video!
Maybe it turned out a little too long...
I dunno cuz
I'm not the editor, who's editing my vids is Nifrid!
If you wanna subscribe to his channel, it's super cool!
Sometimes I show up there.
Thank you for every gift, for every letter...
And for everything you do for me!
I love you from the bottom of my heart.

Collective Book Haul // Birthday, Christmas, and Everything in Between - Duration: 8:59.
Hi everyone! It's Clarisse, and this is ClarisseReads. And my birthday happened last
September, and ever since then I've been
saying, "I'm going to put up my birthday
book haul," "I'm going to do it soon,"
"Maybe in like a month,"
"I'll do it soon; I promise," and I never
got around to it. And now it's freaking
January. Now I'm finally getting around
to it, but i figured it's way too late to
just make it my birthday book haul, so I
figured I might as well include
Christmas, and while I'm at it I might as
well include all the books that I bought
between my birthday and the end of 2016 -
so that's what I'm going to do today.
First, let's talk about birthday books -
specifically birthday books that I got
for myself. I got all of these from the
Manila International Book Fair, and all
of them are also comics. First, I got
myself Blacksad Vol. 2 - Blacksad: A
Silent Hell. I also got myself Blacksad
Vol. 3, which is Blacksad: Amarillo, and both of these are by Juan Diaz
Canales, who is a Spanish author. I also
got myself for Kare-kare Komiks by Andrew Drilon
who is Filipino. I've read all of these
already, and I talked about them in
various wrap-ups, so I'll try to link those
down below.
I also got Battle Royale from my friend,
Austin. I also got Insight Out from my dad,
who for my last few birthdays and
Christmases has been giving me and my
twin brother non-fiction books. I also
got Arcadia from Katie, which was like
the only book I've ever received from a
friend I met through the Internet, and so
it was really great because, I don't know,
I'm just excited that that happened.
I'm sorry, Katie, if I took so long
figuring out what address you could send
it to. Thank you for being patient with
me and thank you so much for this book. I
also got a gift card to Fully Booked
from my ninang, and, if you don't know, ninang
means godmother in filipino, and using
that gift card, I bought Dune by Frank
Herbert, in this like a really beautiful
edition. When I bought it I just
couldn't stop staring at it. Even the
back looks nice, and I find it cool
that it's all basically the same shape,
and they just rotated it in certain ways
where it looks like it's spelling "Dune". I don't
know; I was just amused, and this is
beautiful. Those are technically all the
books I got for my birthday.
There were other books ordered from Book
Depository that had arrived before my
birthday, but soon we got a letter from
customs saying that they were at customs.
We took a while to get them because
other stuff was happening in my life, and
the books I ordered for my birthday
were just the least of my concerns, but
what I had ordered from Book Depository
for my birthday were essentially some of
my favorite books that I just happened
to not have owned in physical copies. When
we eventually got to customs we saw that
the Mistborn box set was there, and I
don't think it was a surprise that it
ended up at customs, because it was in a
box that was like six to eight times
this size, and just filled with bubble
wrap, which I'm glad they did because the
box wasn't damaged, but I guess if you
saw a box that big you would probably
think it was suspicious. But anyway I
finally got the Mistborn box set, because
initially I had read the series as an
e-book, but it's actually my favorite
series ever,
and so I decided to buy them in the UK
editions which are beautiful.
If for whatever reason you haven't seen
them yet, here are the covers. Here's the first
book, The Final Empire. Here is the second
book, The Well of Ascension. The third book,
The Hero of Ages. They are beautiful and
I'm so glad that I own them, and, as I
film this, I'm actually currently
rereading the first book, and
so excited about it. But as I said, those
were the only books in customs, and I had
ordered more books, so I contacted Book
Depository asking them, "Hey, where my
other books," and they said they'd resend
them, and then eventually I received them. I
received the first four books in the Old
Man's War series. At the time, I'd read
the first two and loved them, so I figured I might
as well get these two, and I've never
actually seen physical copies of Old
Man's War here, and I thought they looked
amazing,
so I ordered them. But actually, I guess
something went wrong with the shipping,
because, aside from these, I actually
received an extra copy of Old Man's War,
and The Last Colony, and Zoe's Tale, and
so I decided I would sell them, but now
it's strange to sell them because I
never received an extra copy of the
second book - so what, I'll sell the first,
third, fourth book even though I don't
know where anyone can buy the second
book? I'll think about what to do with them,
but now I have like all of these. But
aside from the Old Man's War series and
Mistborn series, I also finally have a
copy of Ready Player One. This is one of the
first books I read when I was introduced
to Booktube, and it's also one of my
favorite books, and it's also the most
fun book I've ever read - that I'm
recommending constantly to people. But
as with Mistborn and as with the Old Man's War
series, I read it on the Kindle first, and
I've never actually seen a hardcover
copy of this in the Philippines - I always
see the paperbacks with like the stacks as
the cover, and I don't particularly
like that cover - so I ordered this and I
received it. I didn't get a second copy
of it though,
but I'm just glad that I finally
own Ready Player One. But aside from the
books that I ordered from Book
Depository, there are also other books
that I acquired in the last months of 2016.
the were some of my favorite books that I
didn't have physical copies of. I was
also able to buy the second and third
volumes of the master editions of Locke & Key
Locke & Key which is my favorite comic
series ever, and I read it like
digitally as well, so I didn't own these.
I've already owned the first volume for a
while, but I was finally able to get the
second and third, and now let's complete.
And finally in the category of "Favorite
Books That I Was Finally Able to Buy
Physical Copies Of" I also have The Book
Thief which I already actually had a
physical copy of, but I have to give
away for reasons. So I took it as an
opportunity to buy the 10th anniversary
edition, which is beautiful.
Aside from those there were some other
books that I also bought after my
birthday but before Christmas. I bought Sweet
Tooth: The Deluxe Edition Book One which I
actually bought the same time that I
bought Dune, but I didn't have enough
gift card money, so I bought this with my
own money. In terms of digital books, I
also bought The Vision Vol. 1 & 2, as
well as The Long Way to a Small Angry
Planet and The Forever War which I was
actually able to buy for like 25 cents
on the Kindle. Now moving on to Christmas,
I got a few books for Christmas, all of
which were actually unexpected because I
hadn't planned to get myself any books
for Christmas or ask for any books for
Christmas because I'm trying to go
through my TBR, but I'm so glad for these
books anyway. I got Red Seas Under
Red Skies from my friend, Alds, which I was
actually able to read before the year
ended, because I was really excited to
get to it, so thank you Alds. I also got
Something to Smile About from my thesis
advisor, which was the most unexpected
thing because I didn't expect my thesis adviser to get me anything, and then she gave all
of us like these tiny books. I don't know;
I just appreciate it a lot.
My parents also surprised me with a
couple of books that I was so excited
about. They got me Arcanum Unbounded
which actually wasn't a total surprise,
because my mom bought this while I was
with her at the bookstore - I saw it, and I
saw Brandon Sanderson's name on it, and
I'd never heard of this book at all, and
I was like "I need to buy that", and then my mom
just took it from me and told me that she
was going to give it to me for Christmas
so I didn't need to pay for it, so thank
you so much mom. It's basically a
collection of short stories all set in
the Cosmere of Brandon Sanderson. Inside it has like this symbol - I
need to search for what that symbol
means - and it's nice in the spine and
it's blue, and look at end pages I didn't
expect this to have nice end pages but it does
and remember flipping through it and I
saw that there was actually a comic in here, so I'm
really curious about that. Anyway, as you
probably know and are sick of me saying,
Brandon Sanderson's my favorite author,
and so obviously I'm really excited to
read this. And another book my parents
decided to give me, which I was also
really excited to get to, so excited to
get to that have already read it,
was Sounds Like Me by Sara Bareilles,
which is obviously a memoir by Sara
Bareilles, and, basically, Sara Bareilles is one of my
favorite singers, and now after I've read
this book, she's probably just one of my
favorite humans in general. So those
were the only four books that I got for
Christmas, but soon after that I ended up
buying a couple more books which
technically weren't books for Christmas,
but just books that caught up and I
bought before the end of the year. The
first of those Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi,
which I bought on the Kindle, which I've
also already read, and it's also really
good. And I also bought Science Fiction:
Filipino Fiction for Young Adults which
is a collection of short stories by
Filipino authors which are all sci-fi
and young adult stories and I've also
already read this book. Actually there's one
more book that I got for Christmas and I
forgot about it because technically I
received it just a few days ago, but it's
also technically a Christmas gift that
just came late, and that book is The
Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by
Junot Diaz. This actually came from my
professor which is actually big surprise;
he's a professor that a lot of me and my
friends are really close to. Actually when
I got this, I said immediately, "I've
already read this," and he was like *gasp* and I said,
"No, it's okay; I borrowed it from the
library. I don't own it yet, so it's okay." But anyway,
I'm just so surprised to receive this and I
really appreciate that he gave this to
me. So I guess we're done. Those are all
books that I received and bought
from my birthday til the end of the year. What's a book
that you got recently, possibly for
Christmas, that you're most excited to
get to? Please tell me about it in the
comments section below.
Anyway, thank you so much for watching,
and I hope to see you next time. Bye!

Deaf Actor John McGinty - The Hunchback of Notre Dame [ASL, CC] - Duration: 22:53.
Hi, my name is John McGinty.
This is my name sign.
This video is for everyone
including deaf talent, interpreters, artists,
hearing people, who are willing to work with deaf artists.
Anyone at all.
I want to share my personal experience as a Deaf artist.
My personal experience from 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
I realized that this coming February
will be the one year anniversary
from when I first auditioned for the show.
Time flies by!
I want to say something important for the young deaf generation,
who want to work in this career,
I learned that the idea that
age has a deadline
and you have to do all these particular things...
That's false!
It doesn't matter, even if you're 5, 12, 13, 21, 40... whatever.
Plus, everyone does have different experiences.
Some of you may have more experience than I do.
Our processes are different.
The reason why this specific gig
impacted me greatly as an artist
is that it was one of the rare opportunities...
Well, not the first time, but...
Well, it was the first time that I felt like
I was part of the team. Part of the collaboration.
It is important that you want to work
with someone who believes in you,
who is interested to work with you and exchange ideas.
It is so important that you have to be ready
and deliver who you are, share your ideas,
and be willing to be open and work with other people.
At times, it will work, and sometimes it won't.
I want you to join my journey from back then.
When Sacramento Music Circus in Sacramento...
The productions for Music Circus...
Whatever they were about... I'm not too sure.
When they announced their season
I cannot remember what the other productions were.
There was 'Hunchback' and a few others...
There were five shows in the season.
They produced five shows from May to August.
Keep in mind, 'Hunchback' was the last production of the season.
So when I saw 'Hunchback' is happening
through a specific casting call,
and I submitted my information including a head-shot and resume...
My first thought was there is no way for me to get in.
By the way, when you hear someone else
say that networking is important.
It is true.
So, having skills with networking
will help you get in the door.
True.
Some people with talent but no networking happen to soar...
But the networking part is so important.
For instance, the director for 'Hunchback'
and I worked together in the past
for a two day workshop quite a while back.
I didn't know him very well from that time,
as it was just from two days.
But when I realized that he was going to be the director for 'Hunchback'
I knew this was my opportunity to work with him again
because he knows how to work with a deaf actor, etc.
So...
I had two options at the time,
1. I could submit my information to a casting call online
and say nothing and see if I was contacted or not...
Or send my information and get in touch with the director,
and see if he remembered working with me before etc.
Two days later, the director emailed me
and asked for my agent information, so I send that through to him.
Finally, my agent sent me all the audition information
including the dates for 'Hunchback' etc.
But it was clear that they weren't look for a deaf actor
to play the role of Quasimodo.
I am going off topic just for a moment now,
it is important that you look for a role that you want to do.
And it's important that the role fits you.
For example, when I look at some roles
that I really, really want
I realise that they don't fit me, for various reasons.
I cannot even submit for a role that is for a 1st grader, a kid.
I mean, look at me.
It is important to know your whole package.
So, anyway...
When I realized that Quasimodo is deaf in Victor Hugo's novel...
I thought, "Bam! Why not? Why not!?"
Why not have a deaf actor play a deaf character?
Plus, it is a musical.
So, it is clear that the people doing the casting first think...
Who will sing it... etc.
I can't sing, I can just sign to the song.
So... I have to be ready for ideas to share with them
in terms what will work or not.
Finally, when it was time for my audition,
I remember seeing different people in the hallway.
I was sitting next to my interpreter
and discussing my needs, etc.
One other guy, who was sitting across from me,
looked at me like, "Why is a deaf actor sitting across from me?"
They are not looking for a deaf actor for this musical.
And he's right.
None of the roles were specifically for a deaf person.
So he was right.
But, I had two options that time,
because I was so nervous while sitting among many hearing people.
I was the only deaf person.
Luckily, I had another interpreter sitting next to me.
I could have walked away, or sit and do my best.
Finally they called my name, and I walked in.
'Hunchback' was produced earlier and I had their soundtrack.
I played the song from my phone and performed the song.
It is clear that when you leave the room,
you will have a tough time letting it go.
You'll be thinking about whether or not you will
get a callback.
I understand as an artist it can be really sensitive
thinking about your audition performance.
I totally get that.
But it's important to let go and move on.
A week later,
I got a callback. Good news!
And it was from the producers from Sacramento Music Circus.
Finally, I walked in and did the same thing.
They asked me, "Do you have any questions for us?"
And I thought, this is my golden opportunity
to explain my situation and how this could work out.
I also provided some ideas.
So, planning for if a deaf character was in the story.
And some ideas about the gargoyle friends and
different ways they could communicate.
I could see and feel their energy shift
and you could see their eyes getting wider.
And I realized that I'm advocating for myself
while I'm educating them
and it can generate opportunities for lots of different artists out there.
So, I am advocating for myself
for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
And once I open a door,
then they will open many doors for you.
So, I finished the discussion and left the room.
Now, the ball is in their court.
Months later...
I think it was around March?
A month or two later...
I got a call from the director
to discuss more about my needs
and what it will look if I go to Sacramento.
The director wanted to be clear with me
that we only have nine days to rehearse.
Nine days. That's it. Rehearsals finished.
I couldn't say, "Oh, um..."
It is important to be optimistic and so I said, "OK, that's fine."
However, in the back of my mind,
I thought, how will this work!?
So...
I tried to make it work by collaborating and sharing ideas.
We may agree or disagree,
but it is important that we both have the same vision of the show.
The phone call ended.
Weeks later, I heard nothing.
I thought... Oh boy, nothing happened.
Finally, one day, I got an email, the next thing I discovered,
I am on the plane to Sacramento.
With only nine days to rehearse,
I memorized the script before rehearsal.
And it's actually a fact that I've never seen
the Disney movie.
Never.
And I've never seen the production either.
So I am going in with no knowledge,
which is either a good or bad idea.
So going in there...
I remember my first day of rehearsal,
I could see many people around me,
who are hearing and thought, oh man,
this will either work or not.
But it's important to remember
that this is not about you or me,
this is about all these other people.
I remember the director, the first time they said...
Wait, here's an example...
You know, when you hire a Deaf actor,
it is normal to work on translations, and the process,
Deaf culture, etc for more than one week.
But, with nine days of rehearsal...
We had ten minutes to do that.
So once we accomplished this goal in just 10 minutes,
the director said, "OK, let's block the whole first act.
"Act one."
"But of course, at the same time you will work with the music, etc."
I felt like I was taking a master class in musical theatre.
So...
Really, the most important thing that I have to thank
is the interpreters
and their support throughout the process.
and it is important that you speak up
about your needs, desires, what you want, etc.
All deaf artists are varied and we have different preferences.
I only had nine days to work on this
so personal issues needed to step aside.
So...
Moving forwards...
Those nine days flew by.
I've learned so much in terms of speaking up.
Growing up, I tended to be passive,
follow what they want,
accommodate their wishes, their needs...
And I realized, if I continued this...
If I continued this path, something is up.
Something is not right.
So I really encourage you to speak up if something doesn't feel right.
So, speaking up for your needs
will help your colleagues
know what's best for the production,
which includes visual cues, etc.
At times, I will say, you know
I cannot move forward until I get this visual cue set up.
Thank you to the cast for their support
and we had to exchange some favors
because as a team,
we are working on this together.
I remember during the preview,
from day one to the first preview,
my first thought was, this is it...
Time to prove myself.
I remember behind the curtains, in a rounded area,
I was waiting off stage
and I had a moment to appreciate
my many mentors, deaf artists,
especially those who taught me about so many things.
When I get on stage,
I am not doing this for myself,
I am doing this for the younger generation,
because it's important to pass this on to them.
I want to see more opportunities for them.
For all of you.
What excites me the most
is that Disney saw this
and responded with a positive remark, such as "Oh, cool."
It means the light bulb went on for them.
And I feel like I did my job.
Now, it is your turn.
I hope to see many of you.
If you see something you want,
your dream role, whatever you desire,
get up in the morning,
go online, email a bunch of people
and ask for help! OK?
I am sure that tomorrow, I will ask someone for help.
I want to thank you for your continued support,
love and belief.
Again, to the Deaf community,
we are one big family.
Please continue and support each other.
We need support.
We need to have an open dialogue,
because that dialogue
will help other people understand you and our community.
It will educate and create a healthy discussion,
which will create a great product.
And that product will bring more benefits to everyone.
One last thing I want to pass on to you.
It is okay to make mistakes.
Oh my, I am such a perfectionist,
until after realizing something during the 'Hunchback',
the show must go on.
I missed my entrance once...
It happened just once, during the opening night.
OK, thank you for watching
it's important to keep going!

4 Cool Bookmark Ideas - Duration: 3:03.
Hey guys!
We're the Bookulus, and today we're going to make FOUR
definitely good, not bad bookmarks (sarcastically)
And they're totally not from Pinterest
Mmm, no
We came up with them all on our own
So, the first thing we're going to make is a little wire snail that clips into your book
Then, a little tea bag with an actual tag from your favorite tea
Aaaand
A bracelet bookmark so that way, it's nice and portable.
And guess what?
A actual bookmark!
Isn't it a shock?
I know!
Like, what would ever make us do that?
*??????* This is so complicated, it's not a rectangle that we colored on.
Oh no, no.
Of course not
That was pure craftsman artistry.
It took ten hours.
Ten.
So
Let's get to it!
*fwaap*
I hope that was close enough
I don't think it was. I don't think you were even aimed at the camera.
Eugh, I'll try again
*fwaaa*
*Music: BirdBrainz II- Otis McDonald*
Make any friendship bracelet.
We made a basic knotted one.
Add clasps to your bracelet so you can secure it.
We're gonna put links in the description of people who can actually teach you how to make some.
Draw out, color, and cut out your design.
We chose to paint on a little bit of tea, to get the scent of the tea
Attach an actual tag to the tea bag with a long bit of embroidery floss.
Draw out your one line design, and bend a wire to match it.
It doesn't have to be a snail, but we know you want it to be a snail
Draw any design you want on any dimensions of paper you want
Bookmarks are pretty great like that.
We chose to go with a classic shape, and a sarcastic design
If you could add some captions in a different language, we would greatly appreciate it!
