THEY NEED TO MAKE IT AS SEXY AS POSSIBLE TO BECOME A POLICE

OFFICER.

THEY ARE STARTING THIS IN THE WEST SIDE, WHICH IS A

PROBLEMATIC NEIGHBORHOOD.

THEY SOLD ñ I WANT TO GIVE YOU THE EXACT DETAIL ñ

THEY SOLD THE RIVER SITE TO PRIVATE INDUSTRY TO ACCUMULATE

THE CPS IS STUDENTS OF COLOR.

Trump and Putin meet TODAY in second showdown to stop North Korea nuclear CATASTROPHE

US President Donald Trump and Russia leader Vladimir Putin will meet in person for the

second time today for a highly anticipated meeting that could change the course of history.

The world will be watching closely when Trump and Putin face each other for another round

of crunch talks on the sidelines of the APEC economic summit in Vietnam.

The two powerful world leaders first met in July at the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany,

where they chatted for more than two-hours about international affairs.

Since then situation has changed dramatically, with both presidents facing up to problems

that are challenging their leadership on a domestic and global level.

For Trump, the most pressing international issue is the tense standoff with North Korea,

whose nuclear and missile programmes he deems a threat to the US and its allies.

Trump has made piling pressure on North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un a key focus of his marathon

13-day tour of the Asia-Pacfic region.

During an unusually measured speech in Seoul, South Korea, Trump called on world leaders

to "act now" to help curb North Korea's nuclear programme.

Now, just days later, his highly symbolic showdown with Putin could be a defining moment

of his presidency, foreign affairs experts told Daily Star Online.

Aside from threats of military action, the Trump administration has been pushing UN members,

chiefly Russia and China, to back tougher sanctions against North Korea.

Yet Moscow has been supplying North Korea, or DPRK, with resources, namely oil – key

its economy and nuclear programme.

"Russia has been supplying DPRK with resources and technical support, which helps mitigate

the US sanctions while still allowing DPRK to continue developing its nuclear system,"

said Dr Alina Polyakova, foreign policy expert at The Brookings Institution.

"Putin could put a stop to this."

Because Putin has "no interest in regime change", Trump has to convince him to cut

off oil supplies, Dr Polyakova told Daily Star Online.

Devoid of resources such as oil, North Korea would face economic collapse, meaning its

nuclear programme would be starved of funds needed to advance.

Robert Amsterdam, international attorney and foreign affairs expert, told Daily Star Online

said Trump faces an uphill battle to decipher Putin's real motives when it comes to North

Korea.

"Vladimir Putin is a masterful media performer, often saying nothing that he means, while

meaning nothing that he says," he said.

"It is possible for Russia to make statements on North Korea that are both true but disingenuous."

But the costs of failing to get Putin onside are high, Amsterdam said, not least because

of the grave threat of war.

"If the conflict with North Korea were to escalate to war we would see a humanitarian

disaster of unprecedented scope and breadth that would obligate us all to act as allies,"

he said.

Short of military action, Amsterdam said, Trump's main goal should be to convince

Putin to halt oil exports to North Korea.

"We have already seen that Moscow is undercutting the effectiveness of sanctions by smuggling

oil and other supplies to North Korea – such an informal role could continue," he said.

"Increasing pressure on North Korea and China remains the best course of action, and

remaining steadfast, committed, and consistent across the broadest range of partners that

is possible."

Should Trump fail to prevent war breaking out on the Korean Peninsula, Amsterdam warned

of "catastrophic casualties and a reshaping of the entire region".

"No matter what comes next, the absorption of 25 million malnourished victims of the

Kim regime would make the reunification of Germany look like a circus sideshow by comparison,"

he added.

The Kremlin has confirmed that Putin will chat to Trump about some of the most "pressing

issues" facing the world, including the situation on the Korean peninsula.

"Putin is very important because they can help us with North Korea," Trump told Fox

News last weekend ahead of his Asia trip.

The Syria war and the conflict in Ukraine are also widely expected to be at the top

of the agenda.

Yet the exact details of the meeting have been vague.

Much has been made of the budding relationship between the pair, two straight-talking millionaires

with celebrity status on an international scale.

During the 2016 US election campaign, Trump expressed admiration for the Russian hard

man, complimenting him for being a "smart guy".

Since Trump's shock election win, allegations of "collusion" with the Kremlin have been

leveled at a handful of his senior aides, family members and associates.

Last week George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy advisor to Trump, was found guilty

of making false statements to FBI agents about his contact with the Russian government.

He lied about the dates he met a mysterious Kremlin-linked London professor who claimed

to "have dirt" on Hilary Clinton.

Given Papadopoulos was charged just a week ago, Trump's meeting with Putin may raise

some eyebrows in Washington.

Some White House insiders are reportedly concerned about the timing of the meeting, which looks fishy.

and we're going to talk about conditional sentences in English.

I gave you a couple of tasks to think about in the previous lesson.

Let's go over the answers.

First, I asked you this question.

I was lucky to have two helpers. They put their explanations in the comments.

So let me share those before I offer my own.

I used the past tense, but I'm talking about the present.

I'm imagining a situation to be different from reality. This is an imaginary or hypothetical statement.

Do you know why I wrote that sentence?

My son now attends the middle school/high school in our town.

We have to get up by 6 AM so that he can catch his bus at 6:46 AM.

And let me tell you that it's really hard to get up when my alarm goes off at 5:45.

So if I had my way, we'd start school an hour later!

The reality is that I'm not going to have my way. I don't have a choice,

and we will continue to start the school day at the usual time.

In this lesson we'll focus on unreal conditionals about the present and future.

To imagine a situation in the present or future, we can use an unreal conditional.

Unreal conditionals about the present or future use the past tense in the if-clause (the condition)

and we use WOULD + the base verb in the result.

Again, we can put the condition first or second.

When the condition is first, we use a comma to separate the two clauses.

Also, people like to use "then" when the result clause comes second.

I can use unreal conditionals for different purposes.

I might be imagining something completely impossible.

If could be any animal, I'd be a bird.

I might be considering something that's possible but unlikely.

For example, if all three of my brothers could visit me for the holidays, I'd be very happy.

Sadly, this is unlikely and very hard to arrange because we're spread out all over the country.

For either purpose, I use IF + the simple past in the condition

and WOULD + the base verb in the result.

I could also use the modal verbs COULD and MIGHT in the result.

Let's shift back to real conditionals for a moment.

What you need to understand is that we use "ever" to emphasize how unlikely a possibility is.

We can use "ever" with real or unreal conditionals.

You might also hear people use "If and when" together in the condition.

They do this to emphasize that something is unlikely to happen.

But we use "if and when" in real conditionals.

There's another structure we use for imagining the impossible.

Have you ever heard anyone say, "If I were you…"?

Of course, I can't take your place, so it's an imaginary statement. It's counterfactual.

So I'm not you, but if I were, here's what I'd do.

In unreal conditionals about the present or future, we use WERE for all subjects.

We do this to imagine the situation to be different.

Now that you know we can use WERE in unreal conditionals about the present and future,

you'll understand how we can use the past progressive in the condition.

We're almost done. Let's talk about your homework.

U.S. President Donald Trump struck a softer tone on touchy subjects like North Korea and

trade with President Xi Jinping in China Thursday and highlighted his "incredibly warm" feeling

toward his counterpart.

Mr. Trump blamed his predecessors in Washington for the trade deficit with China and [things]

and he said things could have remained the same.

"The United States really has to change its policies because they've gotten so far behind

on trade with China."

Mr. Trump concluded the remarks by touting his "great chemistry" with Mr. Xi.

U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Thursday said NATO defense ministers are considering

ways to bring Russia into compliance with a key arms control treaty.

"We have a firm belief now over several years that the Russians have violated the INF and

our effort is to bring Russia back into compliance.

It is not to walk away from the treaty."

Mattis (told) said NATO's discussions [or] about Russia were held with an eye toward

sustaining other arms control pacts as well.

The U.S. Treasury sanctioned ten Venezuelans Thursday, including a number of government

officials, in the latest step by the Trump administration to pressure Caracas over what

it sees as an erosion of democracy in the oil-rich country.

U.S. forces conducted an airstrike against al-Shabaab in Somalia Thursday, killing several

militants, according to the U.S. military.

The drone strike hit targets in the bay region of Somalia, about 160 kilometers west of Mogadishu.

No civilians were killed in the strike.

Graham Mackay reports that Colombian police seized the largest cocaine haul in the country's

history as they crackdown on excess production by gangs who are stepping in to the void left

by the FARC rebels.

Police on Wednesday hauling in a record 12 tons of the drug linked to the Gulf Clan,

the country's top criminal gang.

Today, thanks to a police operation with overseas intelligence, the largest seizure in history

was made.

Never before since we began fighting against drugs more than 40 years ago have we had a

The longer Bill droned on, the odder he got.

Finally, he had a major "brain malfunction" right on live TV.

Bill Clinton had an agenda last night on the Conan O'Brien Show, and like everything

the Clintons do, it's about making themselves some cash or stealing elections to grab power.

The seventy-one-year-old former president was on the show to pump the Clinton Foundation,

of all things.

However, before he started pumping the Clinton Foundation, he made sure he got his digs in

on Trump.

"The Dictators Club in the world – and there's a bunch of them – they want two

things," Clinton said, going on to add, "Nuclear weapons because they feel like

they can never be dislodged no matter how much people hate them if they've got nuclear

power.

And, they want to abolish the line between fact and fiction and truth and lie."

The liberal loser audience roared with approval.

This coming from the biggest hack in politics – besides his wife – who was impeached

as a sitting president for lying to Congress.

Slick Willie went on, "Because they figure if you don't know what's true, and you

don't think you can ever know that, pretty soon everybody will accept the fact that democracy

is no longer possible."

Gosh, it sure seems like he is talking about himself and his loving wife since they are

the masters of putting out false information and straight up lies.

remarks.

Something was off about Slick Willie last night, and even the liberal media couldn't

was the blistering title of the article in Entertainment Weekly, which reported, "[Bill's]

answers got long, and the pauses got longer, too.

It didn't seem like confusion, more like he was carefully planning out his sentences."

No, the article couldn't help but point out the very liberal audience was feeling

very uncomfortable watching his interview as it went on, reporting, "The studio audience

applauded intermittently, eventually at odd moments."

Bill and Hillary are so desperate to make some cash that they have a new scheme, using

They are "getting involved in the opioid crisis," Bill explained on the show, but

this is where the former president started to drift off mentally.

Out of the blue, he blurted out, "You cannot mix an opioid with any level of alcohol of

any kind without risking your life."

Entertainment Weekly reports the audience reaction, saying, "The clapping that followed

that line seemed… oddly timed?"

Maybe Bill was alluding to Election Night since we've all heard how Hillary was in

a drunken rage and could not make it out to the stage to make her concession speech.

Maybe with her alcohol, she added some painkillers, and this is why Bill got really adamant about

this point, actually yelling at the audience to "raise your hand if anyone you know has

died mixing alcohol and opioids!"

Bill launched into his technique of telling fake stories about "people he meets" to

illustrate his new "opiod crisis" scheme, as he tries to cash in on the real opiod crisis

by getting orgainizations to donate to the Clinton Foundation "to do work in this area."

It is also where he had more "brain fades," proving he is not as quick as he used to be

when making up his fake folksy stories.

Bill was conjuring up stories about all the "drug addicts he has been helping," going

on about "a poor American Indian I know, who was begging me for help."

It was truly pathetic.

Watching Slick Willie was like watching the "emperor with no clothes."

All of the Clintons' sins are known, including the sexual assaults on women, the henchmen

he hired to intimidate the women he abused, the pay to play schemes, stealing millions

of American taxpayer dollars, and the Uranium One scandal, just to name a few, and yet,

the audience appaluded when Conan said emphatically, "You really are doing the Lord's work."

Thank God, the idiots like O'Brien have been exposed, and Bill Clinton will never

again have any real power.

It's time for Slick Willie and Crooked Hillary to go away for good.
