How skills development is changing lives in Eastern and Southern Africa - Duration: 3:12.

In Tanzania, the tourism and hospitality sector

is second only to agriculture in importance.

But very few young people in Tanzania

have the skills employers' need,

and many existing training programs have a weak connection

to the realities of the labour market.

Supported by a partnership

between the ILO and the government of Norway,

training institutions work with local employers

to create apprenticeships in the hotel and tourism industry.

"This training has big benefits for me

because I was able to acquire skills.

The skills combined with the experience in industries

have directly enabled me to work in any area.

I am capable of doing anything

because I have the practical experience."

The Project is happening both on the Tanzania mainland

and in the semi-autonomous region of Zanzibar.

"Under the eyes of the employers and hoteliers,

the apprentices practice perfectly what they have learned in theory.

Therefore the learning sticks to their minds

and the skills they have gained literally become permanent."

Traditional methods of horticulture in Malawi

often don't match what supermarkets and hotels want.

At training colleges supported by the Project,

there is a strong focus on modern horticultural skills

and it is very practical:

75% of the training happens on the farm.

"It's like an eye opener where now people will know

if they will be able to sell at the supermarket,

if I'm to sell at the hotels

then this is the quality I have to produce.

So it's a very good thing, yes."

Malawi's employers agree:

the Project is giving young people vitally needed skills.

"What we are going to have is the right-trained workforce

with the right skills

that can contribute to economic growth."

Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in Africa

and the challenges run deep,

especially in the traditional life of the countryside.

But now, women are getting skills

to improve their employability

and run small enterprises,

building their self-esteem and challenging traditional gender roles.

"The communities realized that women are not only there for domestic work.

They have skills, they have competencies,

and they can do everything."

"This is an initiative to celebrate.

It fits with the government's priorities

in terms of employability and self-employment for youth

and productivity at the national and the local level."

Young people in Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania

now have a new perspective on their employability

and the practical methods to get there.

"What we are learning changed our lives.

It's not going to be the same thing as in the past.

It is helping improve our lives and our homes.

We are very thankful."

My Phone Can Help Fix a Car? - Duration: 2:30.

Rev up Your Engines!

Today I'm going to show you how you can fix your car with your phone,

and I'm not talking about calling up your mechanic to come fix it either,

even the cat wants to know whats going on, I'm talking about using one of these wireless

communication devices, to analyze problems in your car,

in this case, it's called a Blue Driver, now there's tons of these little OBD readers

out there, my advice, don't buy the $10 or $20 ones,

they don't do much, this particular one is $90 and it does a whole

bunch of stuff, as I'm going to show you, you just plug it in the data port, right here,

you can see it's on, it's blue now, then start the car,

then you can access all kinds of information, in this case we are going to read codes,

we have all kinds of choices, in this case, we are going to do the whole system,

and in this case there is no codes, I know that because this is my car,

but if there were codes, you can also clear them after your fix it,

and it automatically clears codes, and if there were codes, it will show you

the freeze frame data, it will tell you with smog check whether it

will pass the emissions test or not, and as it says here, you passed the test and

you can get your vehicle smog checked now, and it even does mode 6 data, which is very

complex data on your car, to find out if you have a weird problem, you

can pinpoint it this way, and as you can see here, they are all check

green, if you go through them all and they are all

green then, they are all fine, if there is a problem in the system, it won't

be green anymore, it will be yellow or red, and then you know to check that system,

and perhaps the coolest is vehicle information, check this out,

it gets your VIN number it check through your car, it can tell you if there is any recalls,

and in this case there is three, one for air bags, one for engine, and one for equipment,

it shows that there is a recall for the main computer,

so if you ever have a problem with the main computer on this vehicle, Toyota has to replace

it for free, now you know,

it even includes service bulletins, look at this,

it shows you known problems that we mechanics know all about,

and that is a lot of information that's really in depth, that anybody might want to know

if your going to fix your own car, these Blue Driver guys are serious, they are

always updating their information, it's worth the $90, you buy a $10 or $20 one,

you get a little bit of information, but nothing like this,

so now you know how to use your phone to fix your car, just don't try using it as a screwdriver!

I Feel Lost When Learning Programming! - Duration: 7:48.

Hey, what's up?

John Sonmez here from simpleprogrammer.com.

I got an interesting question.

It's actually going to be a somewhat technical question.

Some of you that had been waiting—some of you, you leave these messages on the channel.

"I subscribe to your channel because I wanted to watch programming videos and you keep on

making all these videos about other stuff."

I don't even know what to say to you like how many—have you seen my videos?

Oh, gosh.

It's funny but you know what?

I don't know why you're sticking around, but it's fine but here you go.

This will help you.

It will make you feel better that you subscribed to a channel called Simple Programmer.

Maybe I should just the name.

This is a request to keep it anonymous, but you can give me a fake name.

I'm going to say this is from Bob.

Bob writes, he wants to know how not to feel lost while learning the code, which a lot

of people have this problem.

"I'm learning the mean stack from different online courses and tutorials.

The problem is there are way too many technologies, languages and frameworks to learn."

No kidding.

I agree with you."

Also, every course that I've ever stumbled upon is usually incomplete.

They teach some random basic terms about the language/framework and that's it.

How can I learn to build a complete software or create a GUI, graphical user interface,

just by writing a few lines of code in a browser code editor?

I'm feeling kind of lost and confused.

Thank you."

You are feeling a little bit loss if you think you're going to create a program from the

few lines of code.

I don't know if that's—I don't know if we're there yet.

I don't know if I'd want to hire you as a developer who creates a program from a few

lines of code.

I have a feeling that the code will be pretty obscure and—I've seen some of the competitions

where they squeeze the code into like one line, but let's not do that.

As far as what you're talking about here, as far as you're trying to learn mean stack,

it doesn't matter what you're trying to learn.

There are so many technologies, and frameworks and all of this.

I'm with you.

This is something that is a big struggle for software developers.

Back in the day when I was learning to code, there wasn't very many options and there

wasn't very many options to learn.

I mean when I was learning C, there's like five books on C. That's it or C++.

There wasn't very many and you read all the classic books.

I mean you learned about boost framework and STL, but there wasn't much like you could

read the MCN journal or the dubs, whatever it was and you can kind of stay up about some

industry.

There's good and bad.

It was good because I knew what I needed to learn and I wasn't overwhelmed by all this

technology and framework and stuff because it wasn't—there wasn't that many options.

It was bad because there weren't very many resources.

It was difficult to find a free content.

There wasn't YouTube.

There wasn't blogs out there that had a lot of information out there.

There even wasn't a lot of books out there.

A lot of times, to get really high level stuff, you might have to pay for consulting and stuff

like that.

Good luck finding those people.

Today, let's go to today.

Today, what you have is you've got a lot of stuff.

You got a lot of noise.

Signal the noise ratio.

Noise, you've got a lot of noise, but it's a huge advantage because there's a lot of

resources and there's a lot of free sources.

There's a lot of good paid ones as well.

What I'm going to do si I'm going to guide you in a couple of steps here.

First of all from the top, first of all, looking at the philosophy of this, what do you have

to do pragmatically?

Pragmatically, what you have to do is you have to narrow your scope and you have to

be really focused on what you're going to learn.

Don't be distracted by all the frameworks and technology.

I'll tell you this.

You're never going to know at all.

You can't know it at all.

No one knows it all.

Today is the era of the specialist, not of the generalist.

You cannot know it all.

What you can do is you can pick a really thin slice and you can be really, really good at

that and that's what's going to get you the big bucks.

That's what's also going to shorten the time that it's going to take you to learn.

I'm going to point you to two resources that are going to help you with this.

First is the course that I created called 10 Steps to Learn Anything Quickly.

Go check it out if you haven't.

You don't have to buy the course, but it gives you a process, not just for learning

quickly because it's not that you need to learn quickly in this case.

It's that you need to learn focused and it gives you a process that will help you to

focus to make it so that the scope, all the stuff, this noise out here, that you narrow

it down and you hone in on exactly what it is you need to learn and you create a plan

to do that, because that's the only way you're going to move forward and make progress.

I'll tell you.

It's funny that you said in this email that there's always courses out there, but all

of them are incomplete or they're teaching different pieces.

There's no complete thing.

That's true.

This is how the world works.

This is why knowledge is valuable and learning on your own is difficult.

The most valuable skill you can learn in your life, again, that's why I say get that course,

is to learn to learn.

You have to—no one teaches you this in school.

You have to learn how to learn.

That's why I put together the course because I had to learn this the hard way.

After doing like 55 Pluralsight courses which you can check out here, by the way, that's

the other resource I want to point you to is Pluralsight has a lot of really good content.

If you're looking for video tutorials, I did courses on there.

That's why I vouch for them.

That doesn't even matter because there's a ton of stuff out there.

It's not that you can't find the information.

If you want to find some good ones, those are the ones that I would recommend, but my

point is this, is that you've got to narrow the scope down and you've got to focus on

exactly what it is you're going to learn and have a good process for doing that.

Once you do that, then it will be easy.

You're going to piece together the pieces from different resources.

When I learn something, I don't read a book cover to cover and that's one of the tenets

that I talked about in this course, by the way, is I don't do that.

That doesn't make sense.

That's a waste and it's usually incomplete to some degree.

Instead what I do is I find pieces here.

I want to learn about something.

I'll find a video tutorial here and I'll find parts that are relevant to me.

I find a book here, parts of it that are relevant to me.

I find someone I can ask questions to, a mentor, and I ask them certain questions that they

can answer, that they're an expert in.

I get all of these resources together.

The way that that works, the only way that it can work is that I already have a plan

ahead of time.

I know what it is I'm going to learn.

I know what my goal is.

I always tell you this here on this channel is that you always need to learn X so you

can do Y.

If you don't have a Y, you don't have an X.

You're not going to learn X.

What is your Y?

What are you actually trying to accomplish?

Are you trying to become a mean stack developer?

What does that mean exactly?

What kind?

What kind of mean stack developer?

What do you want to specialize in?

What technologies?

What exactly is it?

Whatever you're doing, you need to figure that out.

Once you know exactly what it is, one good way to do this is look at job descriptions

and say, "I want to be able to get this job."

Good.

Now, you can work backwards from there and say, "This is what I need to know in order

to get this job," or, "I want to be able to build this app."

That's even better because now you can say, "Oh, what do I need to know in order to be

able to build that app?"

You see what I'm saying?

You work backwards and then you can make a focused learning plan.

That's the best way to do it and that's how you avoid the noise and all the crazy stuff

out there.

Like I said, you're just never going to know at all, so you got to pick and you got to

be very specific.

It's a good time to be alive because there's so much information out there, but you've

got to develop the skill of weeding out the signal from the noise, so that you can actually

find out what's valuable.

All right.

That's all I got for you today.

Take care.

How I Found CHEESE HEAVEN! - Duration: 6:51.

Hello, everyone!, from rural France. I am in the Jura region.

I've been invited here with my friends at the Comté Cheese Association to get

behind how the beloved cheese is made, what makes it so special, and to,

of course, eat a bunch of it. Ready?

And what better way to begin this video

then with the cows that produce the milk that turns into Comté cheese? Like this gal

right here! I spent a lot of time with these cows and I learned about Montbéliarde

and French Simmental. So these are the two breeds whose milk can be

used for Comté; not just any old cow will do!

This is the Comice, it's a traditional

French agricultural fair, with farmers and cows galore!

Let's talk to the bigwig behind this. Claude is the president of the CIGC,

So Claude, what's all the fuss about Comté?

Whoa! Incomparable?! I gotta find out more

about this cheese. Let's go to the farm because Comté is made from raw milk,

which I became very acquainted with, just wait and see...

That's Gérard and these are his cows. He's a farmer in the Jura and to hear

him talk about the milk his cows produce is pretty cool.

Gérard insisted I try his cow's milk...straight from the udder!

That was a new experience for me!

And I gotta say it was darn tasty!

Comté dairy farms make up about five hundred

seventy thousand acres in this area. That's two-thirds the size of Rhode Island!

Making it the large area of production for any PDO cheese.

Wait a second, everyone here is talking a lot about PDO, what is it?

Well you see, Katie, PDO stands for:

You see, Comté has been made in the Jura mountain region of France for over a thousand years!

I mean, talk about tradition!

And the tradition of Comté is carried on here, passed from generation to generation. Take Tas, he's in business

with his brother keeping the family farm going. He takes great pride in his cows

and how he takes care of them. He milks them himself. And there's Quentin and Anael!

They're brothers and they've chosen to join their dad's farm business. They

really love what they do, they're proud of their product, and I was again offered

fresh milk! -Do you want some milk? -It's stinkin' delicious, truth be told.

And that's the stuff that goes to the fromagerie.

And this is where it's transformed into Comté. The production process begins in

these copper pots and are then taken to their molds.

There are about 150 fruitiéres across the Jura Massif; let's talk with this

cheese maker, Vincent.

Let me introduce you to another cheese maker, Lionel.

You start to see that these guys love what they do.

Whoa! *laughter* That's heavy!

Just how heavy are these?

Yeah, they're big. A wheel weighs 80 pounds and is two feet in diameter.

The cheesemaker applies salt to develop the crust,

and then it's off to the affinage cellar.

This is where it ages, always on spruce shelves. It must be in the aging cellar

for a minimum of four months in order to be Comté, but there's no maximum, and

it's typically aged for longer than four months. So once it's aged, it's good to go!

I mean, check out these wheels of cheese! How do they know when a wheel is ready

to go? Well, they have people like José, and he let me join him in the cellar to

taste a variety of wheels going through the aging process. He takes out a little

sample and then takes notes on its attributes and marks the crust.

Wo that was an affinage cellar, right? Where the cheese is aged.

An affineur is the person who watches the wheels.

And how many wheels are typically

aged at an affinage house? -120,00 wheels. -Over 1 million of these are produced per year.

It is, after all, the highest consumed PDO cheese in France. Let's find

out why, shall we? To the cheese monger!

My work consists of selling cheese.

No wonder it's so popular! You can eat Comté any time of day. And I just did on this

trip...I ate a lot of Comté.

I cannot wait to cook with this but that's gonna

be for another video.

Whoa! I learned so much my mind is like

shaken. I hope you guys learned something, too. Thank you so much for watching this

was such a fun video to make. Leave a comment below, say hi tell me what you

learned about Comté cheese, give the video a big ol' thumbs up if you liked it.

As always, keep it quirky.

HOW DO I GET BIGGEST REFUND / INCOME TAX TIPS #6 / W2 EXPLAINED / WHAT IS FEDERAL WITHHOLDINGS - Duration: 7:51.

yo yo yo CPA strength here back with another video my best video yet yeah you

know it is what's this w2 explained what about a w-2

well if you get a w-2 I want you to take away look in box number two on every w-2

this box number two right here after one box number two federal income tax

withheld what is federal income tax withheld well let's just say well I want

to tell you before I go into what it is if there's a number here please look

into filing your tax return that's the most important thing that I

want to say in this video because if there is a number here and your honor w2

you are probably not going to oh but you might but if you but you probably will

get a refund so definitely look into this or there's a very good possibility

that you'll get a refund if you have a number in box number two federal income

tax withheld federal income tax withheld is an amount deducted off every weeks

paycheck or one of every paycheck that you get maybe whenever you get paid a

paycheck now w2 you get these if you're an

employee you know you go somewhere you clock in your boss tells you when you

can leave whatever nine to five forty hours a week you get a paycheck every

Friday at the end of the year you get a w-2 and it would have the accumulation

of all your paychecks on there but you notice if did I know you notice well I

know you know how to see if you get it W tubes I know you I know you're gonna

notice what I'm telling you next when you use you sign up for your job

whatever your bus is ten bucks an hour you're like great forty hours a week

that's four hundred dollars then you get your paycheck and it's like three forty

you're like yo where's that sixty homes that money comes out of Social

Security Medicare and you know you pay these in every and you don't have it you

don't have a choice it's not this is 6.2 percent this is 1.5 for somebody you

don't have a choice about how much Social Security or Medicare or if you

can wait till later or whatever they take that certain amount every paycheck

you do have a choice about how much federal income tax is withheld that's

why I say look to see if there's a number taken subtracted from it what

they do is when you fill out a w-4 and maybe we're looking at w-4 if anybody

wants but everybody wants me to go over W for a comment down below look at our

w-4 let me let me know please but where is it oh so the purpose of the w-4 is to

try to figure out the how much federal income tax that you need to be withheld

to get a little bit of a refund or about to break even and that's what they're

trying to figure out so it's always different I just want you to know on a

w-2 because I looked on a couple w2 explained and they just they went over

like the ein number over here and your address in your name and your social and

your stay in this and then they went over everything but like um this is

really I don't know this is for the person you know who usually just

crumples up their w-2 and throws it away and thinks they're getting over on

somebody but in essence because you've never heard anything about it well think

about it if if your do if you're due a refund the government doesn't even care

so you might just be throwing your money away so I want you to look over here and

see if you have federal income tax withheld now I'm going to do a very

quick and then I'll be out all as a 7-year tax preparer I'll tell you what

if you're a single person you come in you make sixteen thousand five hundred

dollars I know for a single taxpayer the standard deduction personal exemption is

about ten is about 10,500 so you would have about

$6,000 taxable income I know that you'd probably be in the ten percent tax

bracket from that so six ten percent of six thousand six hundred dollars so I

know you would all about six hundred dollars to the government with these

facts making this much money being a single person you would all about six

hundred dollars so with me looking at this uh w2 real fast I would know that

you would are you're gonna owe six hundred dollars but wait but wait you've

already given that you've already given the government $2,100 throughout the

year so you would you would probably be getting back about fifteen hundred

fifteen hundred dollar refund guarantee you're gonna get a thousand fifteen

hundred maybe more thousand probably yeah fifty learned I'll refund so I mean

oh I even am I telling anybody anything new does everybody know this I feel like

whenever people come to me they don't know anything about their w-2 they have

no idea and they figure out like the refunds made out of thin air which it's

not the one takeaway is I want you to know that where the federal income tax

withheld is on your w-2 and when you get your w-2 this next year in January

sometime or when you get Nick w2 I want you just to look at this is the the Box

one I want you to look at a couple things box one box three and box five

are probably going to be the same unless you have a 401 K or something like that

we're not worried about that for a very very basic these might be the same this

might be a little less you might be taxed but anyways that this is this is

generally your gross amount this is that four hundred dollars this is that ten

times ten dollars an hour 40 hours a week this is a $400 right here that's

that gross so just look at that that's what every every week times 52 made up

this is an end so I just want you to look at that very

briefly know what that is if you're single subtract about 10,500

from this number then go over here to the box number two the federal income

with federal income tax withheld and be cognizant of this number because you

know what this is what you've given the government on here and it's on a

voluntary basis a lot of people are 1099s a lot of people haven't paid their

taxes on the 1099 it's because you have you do that at the end of the year and

that's on them and people are scumbags and don't do anything so you know if you

get a w-2 you've already paid in so much you know this is your money you know you

would get $1,500 off this tax return so I implore you to be cognizant of your

federal income tax withholdings because it's not the same for everybody it's

different it depends on how you fill out your w-4 but this is long enough anyways

this is CPA strength tell tomorrow I love doing this I hope I helped you

deuces

The Woodpecker Ep Rip fence for my bandsaw - Duration: 6:33.

Hi, on The Woodpecker today, I'm making a very simple rip fence for my new bandsw.

Sometimes it's useful to have a rip fence while ripping pieces of wood with a bandsaw.

On my other saw, I made this one that works at two different heights.

It was held onto the saw with powerful magnets.

But since my saw doesn't have a metal table; this won't work.

That's the reason why, I've put a rail on my table.

To make this rip fence, I'll only use cut offs from my bandsaw.

I want these two pieces just like that.

The first thing to do, is to cut the big block to the same height as the small one.

And remove its hole.

Now, I can glue both of them together.

While this dries, I cut and rip more wood for the medium and tall fences.

Now that I have both sides, I can glue them together.

While the glue dries, I cut another piece of maple for the small fence.

To hold the small fence to the first two pieces that I've glued, I need to make a knob.

So after tilting the bandsaw table, I make a new insert so I can cut the corners of a scrap piece of wood to make my knob.

Then, I put that on the lathe and turn it round.

Next, I drill a hole so I'll be able to insert a nut into it.

Turn it around and give it the shape I want.

Now that I have a knob, I pound a nut into its hole.

OK, the nut is in place; but not before cracking the wood a little.

This is not a big deal; but to be safe, I push some glue inside the crack.

OK, now that all my glue-ups are dried, I can assemble the rip fence.

First, I mark where I want the pivot hole.

And drill it, both pieces at the same time.

I'm going to use this bolt to keep them together, so I need to drill some holes so I can recess the head into the fence.

Humm, when I try this I can see my holes were not deep enough.

I drill them deeper; and now it's perfect.

I have enough thread so I can screw the knob.

But I have one small problem; even if I screw this as hard as I can, the fence can still move.

To fix this, I'm going to use some non-slip tape; in fact it's some left over from the one I've put on the steps at the cottage.

The first thing to do, is to cut two square pieces to the same width as the small fence.

Then stick them in place.

After drilling a hole into it, I can try my fence again.

Now the fence can't move.

This will work just like this.

I just need to drill two holes to hold the fence to the T track.

Now, I can try this.

And after screwing it in place, I can try my rip fence for the first time.

This is perfect for thin pieces of wood.

But this is not tall enough for thicker pieces of wood.

So it's time to add my second glue-up.

But before I can use it as a tall fence, I need to cut its bottom square.

Then both edges.

And now, I have a medium height fence on one side

and a tall one on the other.

But to use it, I need to screw it to the small fence.

To do so, I drill two screws' holes.

Then, I chamfer the holes on both sides.

Next, I mark the holes' position on the small fence and drill pilot holes.

And finally screw the tall fence to the small one.

And here's how my new fence is working.

It's not fancy, but it does the job.

And don't forget to come back for the next episode of The Woodpecker.

First time at the hairdresser VLOG - Duration: 13:37.

Hey! Hey!

I want to eat ice cream. I don't want to go to the hairdresser. It's boring.

Harry's a bit unhappy. He'd rather eat ice cream than cut his hair.

In our last video we talked about Harry's hair and that he should get it cut.

I've picked him up early from preschool today to go to the hairdresser.

I don't want to.

Let's just cycle now Harry.

We're getting close.

Mommy I want to go to our hairdresser.

This is where Alma cuts her hair.

Ours.

It's in there.

I want to go to our hairdresser!

What do you mean? You've never been to a hair salon before.

Not here! I want to go to our street!

Where we live?

Yes.

Darling, come here. Don't be sad. They have a car in here.

What are you worried about? The hairdresser will cut your hair, not your ears or anything else.

I didn't know that you're worried. You don't have to be.

Look, a car.

It's that one.

Can you sit in it too?

I will be right by your side.

I'll tell the hairdresser that you are a bit afraid and worried. She'll understand and be kind to you.

Would he like to sit in the car?

He'd love to sit in the car.

You can put him in there.

Harry's a bit worried, he's never been to the hairdresser before.

Ok. You can start by taking this off. I'll give you another jacket instead.

That's good Harry, a fireman jacket and a red car.

I'll button it up.

I will comb your hair and spray some water.

I don't want you to touch my hair.

She's going to cut it.

Ok.

You'll be fine.

Are you ok?

Yes.

If you look in the mirror infront of you, I'll show you the back.

Nice, huh? You look great.

Thank you!

What did she give you? A lollipop. What day is it today?

Friday.

Really?

Bye bye! She said bye to me.

Yes.

I did so well.

You're right!

I'm on a flight on my way to South Hampton in England. I'm going there to work.

I will board a ship to do some measurements. I fly back again late tomorrow evening.

When the kids are asleep.

We're at home in the sofa. It's 4:15 PM and we're picking up Alma from dance class at 5:15 PM.

We're going to relax for a bit.

I want to watch Tarzan and Jane on TV.

Ok, I'll let you do that. I'm proud over you today.

Hey! Are you ok?

Yes.

We're back home. The kids want spaghetti and sausage for dinner so I'm making it. What's up?

Why are you talking?

Can I have a bit of sausage?

Yes.

No casing.

Look, I'm filming.

I don't want to. Look, lots of bubbles.

Can I put in the spaghetti?

It's boiling too hard.

How are you penguin? Hey penguin!

Do you miss daddy?

No.

Really? Do you miss daddy Alma?

Yes, quite a lot.

We have a viewer question regarding this. Helen is asking what you think about your parents travels?

It's great.

Is it great?

Because we get to spend more time with the other parent.

You mean that you spend more time with me when daddy's away?

Yes and the other way around.

And that's good?

Yes. I get to spend more time with the parent at home.

I see. Stop it Harry.

Here comes a little man.

Eat your food.

Axel has been doing a job that requires a lot of traveling for many years. So you are used to it, right?

What's happening?

Both of them now.

Ok, I'll talk for you while you breath. They're used to Axel traveling.

The new thing is that I'm traveling with work as well. But the best thing is to travel as a family.

Have you changed clothes?

Yes.

Get all the dirty clothes off the floor.

We're going to the laundry room. Let's get going now guys!

Where should I put it? In there?

Yes. It says "The week's laundry"

Alma what do you think of Harry's new haircut?

Nice.

You know what? I think that 'laundry room' is a Swedish thing. There are none in England where I've lived.

Why?

They don't have it. We can ask our Finish viewers, do you have laundry rooms in your buildings?

Let's ask all our foreign viewers, where do you do your laundry?

I know there are laundromats that you pay for in some countries.

But we use this room for free because we live in this building.

It's very bright in here. So we're going to answer another "Question of the day"

Several viewers have posted this question so I'm going to roll their names.

Oh my , Harry is rolling on the floor now.

They are asking what our favorite sport is?

My favorite is... throwing strawberries.. in someone's mouth.

I don't think that's a sport. I think they mean football, ice hockey, athletics..

Hammer throw is probably the closest option to throwing strawberries in mouth.

Ok, hammer throw.

What's your favorite?

Boxing.

Yeah, you like that. My favorite is football. Should we call daddy to find out his favorite sport?

Yes.

Ok.

Hallo!

Hey!

We're in the laundry room.

How are you?

I'm fine. How are you?

We're doing the laundry. We have a question for you. What's your favorite sport?

Running, I like to run.

And to watch?

No, then it's Formula One racing.

Aha! Ok, kiss kiss.

It's 7:30 PM and you are going to bed. I have to stay up to wash clothes. How fun is that?

Not so fun.

Thank you for watching this video.

Post questions. Take care until next time. Bye!

TEMPURA IN JAPAN AT TENSUKE by Sebastiano Serafini - Duration: 5:50.

Hello guys, and welcome to a new video!

Today I'm here in this faboulous green open space,

It's November, but it's sunny and the temperature is warm

If you're new to this channel, please Subscribe, Like and leave a message.

Today I would like to talk about Tenpura,

since I'm going to eat it later, I thought to speak about that.

What can I say?

First thing is that Tenpura comes originally from Portugal

it was imported to Japan, and it became super famous in Japan.

In the early 1500's Tenpura started,

because the first Christian missionaries arrived in Japan and they brought here this tradition.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, at the beginning of each season,

in these 4 season, they didn't eat meat

so they were only eating veggies and fish.

So, from that they imported it here and they called it "quattro tempurado",

and they think that the name comes from tempurado.

Some people think that Tenpura comes from "temperedo", it's a seasoning / spice.

Well, last time I went with my friend Yukkua in this restaurant,

actually I'm going now. This restaurant is called Tensuke,

it's a very famous place here in Koenji

They make a excellent Tenpura, and they're going to show us how it is made.

It's also not so expensive,

so if you want to eat a good Tenpura I leave you the Link of Tensuke restaurant, or you Google the name.

So, if you want to eat Tenpura, don't forget to try it!

and let me know if I inspired you.

Who wants to eat Tenpura? Let me know!

I'm always here at 2pm (italian time) with a new video.

and see you tomorrow.

SUBSCRIBE, LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE this video.

Good, we are here in Koenji and we're entering at Tensuke.

it's a restaurant where they make a fabulous Tenpura!!!

I reccommend you to go! There are always a lot of people outside, but today no,

because we did order a table!

It's obvious that our meal begins with the Shiburi

it's for washing hands! They need to do that also in Italy!

and than we have some Tsukemono

I don't know what happened!

So now the warm Japanese Sakkè arrived.

the first piece, it's (?)

Japanese chopsticks! I'm left handed.

you take a piece, and then you eat it!

It's a show, basically

I'm going on with the eating... He did something with the egg, but I don't now really what he did

I proceed with drinking Sakkè, maybe I will understand more what he did!

This is the "elita":

squid, wrapped in a leaf of Shiso

they said to me that I have to put only a little bit of salt on it.

I love Tenpura

If someone went to Portugal or is Portuguese,

is portuguese Tenpura made like this?

I only know the Japanese one, so write an answer in the comments, if you know more

the next piece is "kisse"

it's another fish, but this time from the ocean.

Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman - Animated Book Review - Duration: 10:06.

it really is an honor to achieve 1 million subscribers and it's a part of

me to give back to the community so this video is gonna be a review of one of my

favorite books ever learned optimism but it's going to be reviewed by the YouTube

channel everyday life skills I think it's a great review and if you enjoy the

video go ahead and check out everyday life skills videos hope you guys enjoy

this and learn something hello everyone everyday life skills here in this video

I'm going to be animating for you one of my favorite self-help books learned

optimism by Martin Seligman but first I wanted to thank practical psychology for

having me here it really is an honor to present to you guys without further ado

here we go in an experiment they took two dogs and put them in two different

cages one being a cage with an electric shock that goes off when the dog tries

to escape and the other being a normal lock when the dog with the normal lock

tries to escape he's successful when the other dog with the electric shock tries

to escape he gets shocked after a few unsuccessful shocked attempts he just

sat back in the corner and gave up they then took these two same dogs and put

them in the same cage with no shock the dog in the previous cage with no shock

got up and escaped the cage with no hesitation

however the dog that was in the previous cage with the shock because in the first

situation he wasn't able to leave the cage without getting shocked he simply

doesn't even try to get out even though he can if he wanted to and this is what

is called learned helplessness you probably know someone or is that someone

who acts like this helpless dog pissing away the prime years of their lives due

to their pessimist thinking people who are pessimists believe that bad events

are their fault and that it will last a long time undermining everything else

they feel helpless and may sink into depression now the exact opposite of

this is learned optimism optimism is a hopeful outlook for the future if you

think your tomorrow will be better than today then you're being optimistic that

better things are to come and this is what Seligman explains in his book he

explains that the reason a lot of people lack an optimistic mindset is because

the brains default mechanism is to think like that of a pessimist the good thing

about all of this is that the brain is like any other muscle in your

body with enough persistence and conditioning it will grow to be stronger

than what it was yesterday so to sum it all up Martin Seligman says that it all

boils down to persistence persistence is staying consistent and continuing on

when you're able to remain more optimistic you're able to stick with the

process and stay on the path that you're trying to achieve and overcome many

obstacles on the way then a pessimist person would when you simply see more

opportunities let's say you know business or a goal you're trying to

achieve you try more things because more

opportunities present themselves so when that happens do you think that makes you

more successful or less successful of course it makes you more successful

there's no way you can be unsuccessful if you're super super persistent and if

you're very hopeful if you are willing to try everything you can to achieve

that goal or make whatever it is work yet still remain hopeful and still

remain cheerful and confident so you can see how important it is to have optimism

as a personal trait like I'm sure you can see all the places in your life

where if you kept on pushing you could have done so much more or achieved your

goal how many times have you fell off that diet how many times have you

procrastinated in school or on a project you're passionate about how many times

have you been a victim of your own thoughts and believe that you can't

achieve anything bigger than a 95 corporate job Martin tells us that again

the good thing about all this is that it is something that can be cultivated just

like everything in life it is a skill you must acquire and learn in order to

perform it right and once you start executing on your plants and you start

seeing result Martin tells us that you then enter a state refer to as flow but

till then you have to really build up your optimism to get to that level

Martin Seligman gives us this take away from the book that optimism is explained

and that the main difference is the explanatory style the explanatory style

is the way that you explain and the way you attach meaning to the stuff that are

happening in your life so literally both a pessimistic and an optimistic person

can be faced with the same exact challenge but the question is what kind

of explanation are you assigning to this situation

so let's try to understand the explanatory styles by using the example

of getting a flat tire on your way to work so you can better visualize this

and compare it to the way you think about the outcomes in your life Martin

tells us that these three explanatory styles is ultimately what leads to

thinking like that of an optimist or that of a pessimist explanatory style

number one temporary versus permanent this asked the question how permanent is

the problem so let's say you're on your way to work and you get a flat tire an

optimistic person would say you know it's just a flat tire this is not even a

big problem and the grand scheme of my life it means nothing I will fix it in a

few hours in tomorrow it won't be an issue at all now a pessimistic person

would say oh my god I got a flat tire how did this happen and oh my god how

long is it gonna take to fix and in his mind he built it up as if it affects his

whole entire life as if it is permanent and he has no way out and when you think

a problem is permanent you simply block all the resources of changing it you're

basically powerless and a victim because there is nothing that you're looking

forward to so it only makes sense that the optimistic person who can limit the

problem and contain it to a small degree will be much better and much more

resourceful in such situation the second explanatory style is pervasiveness which

pretty much concerns how Y spreads something is how much of my life is

affected by this problem this ask the question will this underline everything

how pervasive is this and how much does it affect my life so let's say an

optimistic person would say you know it's just a flat tire

all it affects is now and today I mean yes I'll be late for work and I might

miss that 8 a.m. meeting but it's ok it just worked I can make it up it's not

like my life and health and relationship is in jeopardy now a pessimistic person

on the other hand allows their negative thoughts to spread like freaking cancer

and now what was a local problem which was this flat tire becomes a global

problem and it had affects his whole entire life he tells himself now this

flat tire means that I'll be late for work which means that my manager might

fire me or yell at me and that's gonna make me

very very angry which then will cause me to go home upset and argue with my wife

for being late and now my whole life is corrupt all of this over a flat tire

these negative thoughts spread in their mind literally like cancer the third and

final style is personalization which pretty much asks how personal is this

problem so for an optimistic person whenever there is a problem like a flat

tire he would tell himself you know I'm not responsible for this problem and

when something good happens to him he takes credit for it

for example they would say okay I got a flat tire you know it was just bad luck

I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and drove over a nil

it's not my fault and when something good happens like a promotion at work

they say yup that's me I worked hard for this all year straight I earned this I

stayed focused I beat sale records I got the promotion

through hard work and dedication this was all me now a pessimistic person

would say getting it why wasn't i more careful this always happens to me and in

his mind he blames himself and the exact opposite of that when something positive

happens a pessimistic person tends to be humble and doesn't take credit like if

they got that same promotion they would say oh you know the company just needed

somebody and I just happened to be in the right place I mean anybody could

have done it it wasn't me that attracted that promotion it was the company

anybody could have got it I just happened to be the one so this is

basically the deciding factor between an optimistic and pessimistic thinker just

imagine how much this affects your willingness to go out and take action in

the real world when you think you're responsible for good and not bad things

then you're able to act and feel hopeful and if you're thinking the opposite and

not hopeful you're basically guilting and limiting yourself for no reason we

want you to go ahead and write down five things that you're hopeful about in the

next day the next week or even the next month or a year it can be anything maybe

that one vacation you've always wanted to take or maybe a relationship you're

looking for or maybe that promotion that you're trying to get at work maybe you

want to have all your credit cards eliminated or achieve a certain weight

goal or graduate college whatever it is be specific and full

what really motivates you and I want you to notice how you feel now I want you to

notice how you feel before doing the exercise and I want you to notice how

you feel when you're finished if you're like most people you will feel very very

hopeful and motivated to go out there and execute on your plans you feel

optimistic fully charged and happy to be alive the reason for this is because now

your life and goals are right in front of your eyes you've articulated it in a

clear way and now it's right in front of you

you're able to see where you're at and where you can be and that ultimately

gets you back connected with what you're supposed to be doing and if you're a

super super pessimistic thinker because of the conditioning over the years don't

worry optimism is something that can be

learned optimism is like a dying fire and your awareness of it is the lighter

fluid with enough awareness that dying fire can burst into a huge flame if you

enjoyed this video go ahead and smash that subscribe button and head on over

to my channel I honestly would really love to have you guys there as I will be

uploading two videos very similar to this every week and again I want to

thank practical psychology and I want to thank you guys for taking the time to

view this video till next time peace

How I Made It: Kristy of Milk Expressed - Duration: 2:20.

(upbeat music)

- Oh hey, come on in.

I just dropped my daughter off at daycare.

- [Interviewer] Hey, are you working from home today?

- [Kristy] Yeah, most days I work from home.

- [Interviewer] And your daughter spends most days at daycare?

- Yes, she is a two year old bundle of

energy and she loves it and I realized I

needed more than just naptime to get

Milk Expressed off the ground.

- [Interviewer] Speaking of which, what is Milk Expressed?

- Sure.

Milk Expressed, we help Moms get their

breast milk home when they travel.

We do domestic shipping and we sell

international breast milk kits.

- [Interviewer] That's amazing, how'd you come

up with the idea?

- I was a nursing mom who traveled and

had trouble getting my milk back home,

so I thought there had to be a better way.

Oh.

Hold on one second.

- [Interviewer] Sure.

- Do you mind, I have to take this.

- [Interviewer] Yeah, no problem.

- Hi, Milk Expressed, how can I help you?

Yeah, let me send you an email before

the end of the day, we'll get back in touch with you.

Great, thanks for calling Milk Expressed.

- [Interviewer] So what's been your biggest challenge

as a mom whose also an entrepreneur?

- Energy.

Running my own business is very tiring

and having a two year old is very tiring.

Thank god for to-do lists.

Actually, speaking of which, follow me.

(upbeat music)

Laundry was on the to-do list.

- [Interviewer] How do you prioritize what

needs to happen each day?

- I do daily, weekly, and monthly to-do lists.

And check this out.

Alexa, tell Geneva to turn on the dryer.

- [Interviewer] What's been the most rewarding

part about starting your own business?

- It's amazing when a mom tells me

she's been able to take a dream project

at work 'cause it's a little less stressful.

Or that she's been able to nurse a month longer.

I actually really do have to get back to work.

- [Interviewer] Okay, last one.

What do you hope your daughter learns

by seeing her mom become so successful?

- The value of hard work

and I actually really hope that she's

proud that her mom created a company

that helped make life a little easier

for other working moms.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

- [Interviewer] Thanks for having us.

How do I find a specific database? (JSTOR, Academic Search Complete, Opposing Viewpoints, etc.) - Duration: 1:14.

In this tutorial, we will discuss how to find a specific database in GALILEO.

GALILEO has over 100 research resources called databases. There may be times when

a professor requires you to access a specific one or to find articles in a

certain subject area. To access GALILEO, go to the MGA home page. Click menu.

Scroll down to Library and then choose GALILEO.

GALILEO allows us access to more than 100 databases, but sometimes we need to

find one in particular. Once in GALILEO, click the Databases A to Z link. You can

type the name of the database in the search bar or you can search

alphabetically. If you were looking for Films on Demand, you would click on "F" and

then scroll down to locate this database.

Clicking on the title will take you directly to Films on Demand.

Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

How do I find scholarly, peer-reviewed articles? - Duration: 1:49.

In this tutorial, we will learn how to find scholarly, peer-reviewed articles

for your research. What are peer-reviewed articles?

Peer-reviewed articles are articles that have gone through a special process to

ensure their accuracy. Here are the basic steps in the peer-review process. First,

an expert writes an article and submits it to a journal. Next, an editor sends it

to other experts who review it for accuracy. If accepted, the article is

published and usually listed in databases for other researchers to use.

So where can we find peer-reviewed articles? In GALILEO, where our research

collections called databases are found. You can access GALILEO from the

library's home page here. You can also access GALILEO from your D2L home page.

The link is found under academic resources, Once in GALILEO, you can

perform an advanced search and limit your results to peer-reviewed journals

only. If I wanted to find peer-reviewed

articles on juvenile diabetes, I would type juvenile diabetes into the search

bar, scroll down, and check the box under Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals. Then I

would click search. Here are my advanced search results. Notice that the results

are limited to only include scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. This means that

most of the articles listed have been through the peer review process. However,

there may also be some editorials, book reviews, and conference papers that have

been published in academic journals listed in your search results as well.

Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

even the cat wants to know whats going on, I'm talking about using one of these wireless

communication devices, to analyze problems in your car,

in this case, it's called a Blue Driver, now there's tons of these little OBD readers

out there, my advice, don't buy the $10 or $20 ones,

they don't do much, this particular one is $90 and it does a whole

bunch of stuff, as I'm going to show you, you just plug it in the data port, right here,

you can see it's on, it's blue now, then start the car,

then you can access all kinds of information, in this case we are going to read codes,

we have all kinds of choices, in this case, we are going to do the whole system,

and in this case there is no codes, I know that because this is my car,

but if there were codes, you can also clear them after your fix it,

and it automatically clears codes, and if there were codes, it will show you

the freeze frame data, it will tell you with smog check whether it

will pass the emissions test or not, and as it says here, you passed the test and

you can get your vehicle smog checked now, and it even does mode 6 data, which is very

complex data on your car, to find out if you have a weird problem, you

can pinpoint it this way, and as you can see here, they are all check

green, if you go through them all and they are all

green then, they are all fine, if there is a problem in the system, it won't

be green anymore, it will be yellow or red, and then you know to check that system,

and perhaps the coolest is vehicle information, check this out,

it gets your VIN number it check through your car, it can tell you if there is any recalls,

and in this case there is three, one for air bags, one for engine, and one for equipment,

it shows that there is a recall for the main computer,

so if you ever have a problem with the main computer on this vehicle, Toyota has to replace

it for free, now you know,

it even includes service bulletins, look at this,

it shows you known problems that we mechanics know all about,

and that is a lot of information that's really in depth, that anybody might want to know

if your going to fix your own car, these Blue Driver guys are serious, they are

always updating their information, it's worth the $90, you buy a $10 or $20 one,

you get a little bit of information, but nothing like this,

so now you know how to use your phone to fix your car, just don't try using it as a screwdriver!
