Youtube daily report w Nov 24 2017

hi, I'm Thays and this is Desalinho channel

Today we're talking a little about ideology.

In fact, things that ideology pulled to feminine side or

masculine side. So, that are considered as feminine e masculine, e how these

ideas, how the understanding of this helps literary

analysis. So, if you want to know a little more about this, stay "tubed".

Like the video to help us. Share with your friends

Subscribe the channel and come with me! There's an author called Pierre Bourdieu who wrote

a book called "Masculine Domination". He talks a little about this

sexualization of society, and how this patriarcal structure is harmful

to women and men - sure, much more to women, but

also to men - because of some functions that are

stablished - in fact, not only functions, but functions, expectations that

are stablished in relation to one sex or the other sex. It's that, if

you look for it, it's that what some people call "gender ideology",

and that in fact isn't anything more than say that, when we're born, there's

a bunch of information we have to face, all of it socially built during the centuries

and which indicate what are the things expected from a woman and what

are the things expected from a men. In fact, there's a very good

video, (I think I'll put it in the comments

- not comments - I'll put it in the description

of the video so you can watch it. Its a good video talking about this gender stuff

in a very simple way. Because here We're not talking necessarily

about that, here's we'll talk about something more specific. but the idea is that

we get the thing: womankind, mankind,

expression of female biological body and expression of

male biological body... What is this expression of biological body?

male body is GENERALLY a stronger body (physically)

than female's. For sure there are always esceptions, but

in general, that's a natural expression of male body. It's a

natural expression of female body having hormonal alterations during

menstrual cycle, so there's times when the person is this way, there's

times when the person is different, and this is a natural expression of female's body,

being born in a female body. What is made by society? What is made

by society is: ah, women must have long hair. If she has short hair

she's closer to the masculine.

Or, girls should play with these toys, women should wear

this way. A woman, when she shows her body, she may be attacked.

A man, if he shows his body, he's ok, there's no problem, he's just sweating,

for example. So we have these differences

in relation to men and women, or in relation to construction of the

feminine and construction of masculine, which are imposed

constructions. And, sometimes people will not tottally identify

with that, or sometimes they don't identify with that at all

So, sometimes the girl doesn't like to play with these things, she wants to play with

the toys considered masculine. Or they say, for example:

this majors or jobs are male ones. But why? Do people

need to use they d*** to work or study? Because if they don't,

I think it's not a man's job or a male major, I think they are a job, and a major.

But then we have this division. And This is harmful to everyone.

because you can't be yourself naturally, you find yourself having to act

like what people expect you to. Oh, a boy can't be this sensitive, because if so,

he's transpassing the limits here he's going to the side

of female things. So he's gay, he's weak, a lot of things wil be said about

these people when they don't fit the gender boxes.

The interesting here for us now is that this "genderism" of

society, this division by genders, these gender stereotypes,

in society, they are not restricted to behaviours.

All the other things... so, everything we have... many... many...

many other references will receive the same "genderization". So, for example,

when we think about the... the house. The house and the street. So, the house is generally

linked to the women, by all this social construction.

The street is linked to the men. Even inside the house we have this separation:

the bedroom, the kitchen are related to women.

The living room, the study are related to men.

Oh, and this will also affect the four elements. Last

video I talked a little about the elements when I

talked about the book "Desesterro", by Sheyla Smanioto, and the book "Ponciá

Vicêncio", by Conceição Evaristo, because there was many mentions to elements

of nature. In relation to the elements of nature, specially the four main ones,

We also have a separation. We

also have that earth and water are more related to women

while fire and wind are more related to

men. Nature is female,

The city is male. A lot of things work like that. We

have: dark is female, light is male; wet is

female, dry is male etc.

Why is it interesting in literature or art or anything

like that? It's interesting because these concepts, they are all internalized

in our head since forever. So we, even if nobody says:

"earth is female, water is female, fire is male, wind is male",

we internalize it by relations and comparisons we do

things we hear and learn etc. and this is interesting because when we produce

an art piece, you can put all things in you making without knowing,

or, in the other hand, you intencionally use these aspects

or subvert them. That's why it is extremely

interesting to observe them in the art work, poetry, and so on.

So, for exemplo, if we have a

story that happens just inside a house

maybe there's something there which is very related to the universe

of feminine, as a criticism, or a simply reinforcement of the tradicional construction

of the universe of feminine. This using of earth, and

water, this using of nature as something linked to the women is very usual

in art and literature, and it is being each time more used, specially

because: with the strengh of feminism, with this search for a voice,

this search for autonomy, this recovery of our own control, women's recovery of her

control over her subjetivity her own creation of

herself, We have a new search for these elements

of nature, of the magical (in oposition to the scientific), of

the mythological Even this question of... how can I

say? Superstition. So, the magical, the supersticious... This idea of the witch

as a good reference, an interesting reference to the feminine

and identity of women. So, we're back to it

as we were saying: now I have the power to use that

to signify me, and even the oposite: the searching of elements which are

related to the masculine and subvert them in the sense of: "now I can talk

by the means which weren't given to me, as a female".

When we think about those two books I showed you in the

last reading suggestion, in the last reading suggestion video, this

turns to be very interesting. Remember: I said Conceição Evaristo's book had a

deep relation to earth and water, which are completely feminine,

the book is extremely feminine, the book is extremely related to

this search for the construction of oneself. The men, the male characters of the

story, they are accessories, there is nothing special in these characters, because

the focus there is this woman, is this construction, this self discovery and this

self signification through clay and etc. So, clay, you see,

earth and water. In the other side, we have "Desesterro",

that I said that had a lot of earth and a lot of wind, and we have a constant

clash between earth, which is a feminine element, and wind, which is a masculine

element. And then, even if we have just one male character,

there really is a very intense conflict between the female characters and

this... this... idea of masculine, or this man who appears there, this man who

appears there. And this is also represented by

natural elements which are put inside the book, the metaphor

of the book expands a lot when we pay attention to these other details that

go beyond the story itself, that go beyond what is there,on the surface of

the text. Another interesting thing is the question

of the relation between woman and the wild. Remember: the woman is related to

the nature. The nature, the forest, the animal, the wild... while the man

is always related to knowledge, science, civilization, etc. In

Sheyla's book, "Desesterro", there are many mentions to the gorilla-woman, there's even a...

an amazement for this gorilla-woman... So what do we have? A woman

and this animal thing. But, at the same time, they didn't choose an animal, a

bird, for exemple, which is an animal with a smooth appearance. It's an animal

of strength, it's an animal of power, it's an animal which has a very large

presence. So there's this conection with the nature, this conection with animality,

with the wild, but at the same time there's this clash with anything else, you know?

So there's strength to fight, there's strength to show yourself to the world and

impose your existance. I still want to talk more about

these things, but I think that it's better if we restrict a little

in each video, you know? talk a little now, talk a little later,

or the video will end up too long and it will end up boring

even if the subject is AWESOME. So later we can go back to this subject.

Anything, if you think that there's a cool discussion to

have in relation to that, write down here in the comments section. Or reflexions you

have in relation to this subject, any thing like that. So that's all

for today. I really hope that you enjoyed it,

like the video, please, share with your friends, subscribe to the channel and

don't forget to click the bell to receive notifications each time

There's a new video im my channel, ok? kisses,

See you next time! Bye!

Anemonia Viridis, Snakelocks anemone | Anemones - Duration: 2:21.

This was the first anemone I had in aquarium, I collected it myself at low tide,

are very common in all Mediterranean countries such as Portugal, Spain, France and Italy.

They are edible as long as you know how to prepare them correctly.

In aquarium, they are beautiful animals, they present beautiful colorations under the light of blue leds,

they turn pink and green and accept food.

The biggest problem with these anemones is their immense aggressiveness and potent venom, which

makes them a potential danger to any inhabitant and I very much doubt that clown fish

I used them as hosts, in all the reports I read in forums, no clown used them

as an abode.

I did not even dare to try it because I could lose my fish.

Finally, I decided to return them to the sea three months after they had been in my aquarium

of 18L where I created them successfully.

In relation to corals, they are also a constant danger as their long tentacles burn

everything that touches them including their hands.

Should be handled with gloves and if you go sea bathing in some puddle of rocky beach,

be very careful because several people have already been burned by these animals and their poison

is considerably potent to take you to the hospital if you are a child.

Its only advantage in my view is that they do not grow much beyond the size of 5 cm

which would make them ideal for small aquariums, unlike BBTs that can

reach the 20cm or more taking care of the aquarium completely as we can see in this video

of Meelevs Reef.

Anemones are usually added to the aquarium slowly and waiting for the animal to cool

very well to some rock, only after that, turn on the drive pumps.

However, there is no guarantee that the anemone will not walk and fall on some coral and consequently

destroy it.

In doubt, mount an aquarium exclusive of anemones and you will not have this problem.

Finish it. Where? Left upper 90!

Lower middle!

Michi, again your chance now! Guys, you fought well!

It was nice to be here...

The moment has come! 90th minute!

Champions League final against Dortmund!

Breel Embolo misses next match. Torn ligament.

So Lukas! If I score, it's over!

If not, MR7 can still tie.

Now we really lost, right?

Jan, you saved the important ones today! fk goalies have instinct! They can fly, but also let a few go through...if they have to.

TRADITIONAL CUISINE OF OKINAWA by Sebastiano Serafini in Japan - Duration: 4:35.

Hello guys and welcome to another fantastic video!

we're talking about Okinawa

this is a video that I wanted to do seperataly

Since I did a lot of cooking videos, I wanted to concentrate more on Owkinawa's cuisine.

For the people that don't know, Okinawa are islands that are in the south part of Japan,

they are really distant from Japan

and since they're so far apart, they have a different climate, they eat also different things

and also their lifestyle is different

They have other influences in compare to the rest of Japan

The Japanese cuisine is also known as the Ryūkyū ryōri

it's this cuisine that has been influenced by China and south Asia

they use different spices

and also different herbs than the one used in the cuisine in Tokyo.

They use the Katsuobushi, Miso, salt and the Konbu (it's a kind of seaweed, very good for our body)

and the in this Okinawa island they eat a lot of meat,

there is this saying: everything begins and everything ends with pork.

it's kind of nasty (in italian "porca")

Why? I'm always ending in this kind of situations!! it's not possible...

I'm happy that there are no italians around.. i hope

for this kind of stupid things I have another channel (Sebastiano Serafini a Katsu)

I load every day stupid videos on that channel...

Let's go on... the strange thing is that I thought that in the Okinawa island you would eat fish,

but they don't actually eat that much sushi and sashimi,

because it's very hot there and the climate is not the best one for the conservation of the fish.

Recently I had the fortune to go to this really famous Okinawa restaurant (I leave you the name)

it's situated in Koenji, I liked it very much and I want to show you now the things that I ate yesterday.

My favourite Okinawa dish is the Goya, it's a little bit bitter, but I love it.

There are other things, like the purple potato,

then there is the Okinawa Soba,

the Tako rice

and my favourite one, the Goya Chanpuru.

Thank you so much for watching and see you tomorrow at 2pm (italian time) with another video,

if you have questions, write that below,

leave a like and share this video to your friends!

We are now in this nice place in Koenji,

and today I want to show you the Okinawa cuisine.

Actually today I wanted to cook the Goya Chanpuru,

but since they don't sell any Goya in the supermarket I need to buy that in the restaurant.

This is the Tsukidashi that we talked about in another video

I don't know, do you recognize this kind of pasta?

This one is the Okinawa island,

this one is Ishigaki, my favourite island,

these are other islands, but I've only been here and in Naha.

Awamori is the most famous alcoholic beverage (sakkè) of Okinawa

If you're going to Okinawa I recommend you to try it!

This one is the Goya vegetable and if you can cook it well, it's really good.

Then we have the Murasaki that's also very good,

it's this purple sweet potato, they do it also fried. I think I'm going to order this one

Here they search students for taking Karate lessons. See everything is very japanese.

I don't know, I think they can also write my channel on it "Sebastiano Serafini in Japan and Sebastiano Serafini a Katsu.

These are all Okinawa fish,

well, there is a bit of everything.

These are the fried (ravioli) dumplings,

I think we're going to take this Orion beer, it's perfect, with no alcohol and calories

The beer came, but with no smiling face...

This is the Tsukidashi, there is also a Goya piece hidden in all these Macaroni.

Ok, this is the smoked Katsuo fish,

Let's eat some smoked Katsuo, because it's really good!

This one is the Goya with curry. The curry is not so spicy and the Goya gives this bitter taste, that is very particular.

I recommend to try it. It's really good.

The last one is the sweet potato Tenpura

as you can see...do you like potatoes?

See you in another video and if you come to Tokyo make sure to try the Okinawa cuisine!

3 SECRETS TO STAYING SLIM AND SEXY | TRACY CAMPOLI | WEIGHT LOSS MADE EASY - Duration: 5:56.

Hi, it's Tracy and welcome back to my channel and today I'm going to share with you my three

secrets.

My three best strategies so that you stay Slim and Sane during the holiday.

So, Hello.

If you're new to my channel I'm Tracy, I put out brand new fitness, wellness, and lifestyle

videos every single week so make sure that you subscribe to my channel so that you never

miss a video and also for everyone, make sure to click on the little bell icon.

That's gonna let you know every single time I have a brand new video go live.

So let's go into these three strategies.

You know the holidays should be a time when we're celebrating, we're super happy, we're

surrounding ourselves by loved ones and parties and all of these fun things, right?

But for a lot of women, it can actually make us feel like a stuffed Santa because we're

eating too much.

We're often not sleeping enough and it can also bring up a lot of stress.

I got you covered girlfriend.

Not this year!

So my first strategy is to sip yourself slim, alright?

You know me, you know hydration is something incredibly important.

Our bodies are mostly water.

But how do you really strategize that and not be singled out, right?

Well, I always tell my clients "you can just make it fancy" and get a beautiful wine glass

or a martini glass, a cocktail glass and jazz up your water.

Maybe add some lime to it, you can add some fresh berries, maybe you can ask if you're

at a party the bartender to add some mint or even rosemary, whatever you want, but make

it festive.

So what I tell my clients is sparkling water is a girl's best friend at a party, ok?

Because that way you look like you're having a cocktail but you're actually really hydrating

your body.

Hydration is key because it will also help you to avoid all of the temptations that can

be at these events.

Heave foods, sugary treats, all of that.

When you're well hydrated you actually know when you're really hungry or if your thirsty,

so it's really important.

Being well hydrated is actually great for your metabolism so your waistline will stay

nice and slim, it's great for your digestion, for your skin, for bloating, so I can't speak

enough about being well hydrated.

So sip yourself slim, just do it, make it easy and when you do let me know by leaving

me a comment down below, ok?

The second secret (and you're gonna love this one if your anything like me) is to style

yourself slim.

So, I love Sara Blakely, but I'm not talking spanks here, what I am talking about is wearing

clothes, kind of like what I'm wearing right now that are a little bit more form fitting.

So the reason why you want to do that is your actually going to keep awareness of your body.

If I'm going to a party and I'm wearing this dress I'm not just gonna be like "Hey Brett,

give me the nachos" and eating all kinds of junk food.

I'm gonna be a little bit more aware of what I'm actually putting into my body and also

how I'm holding myself.

Am I keeping my belly lifted up and in, and what am I eating?

So, it might sound like something kind of strange but think about it.

Those Saturday afternoons when you're wearing a big sweatshirt and you got like an elastic

waistband pants, you tend to probably overdo it a little bit, but when you're wearing something

kind of tight or something more form-fitting, you're more conscious of your body in a good

way.

It doesn't have to be a dress if you're not a dress girl, but something with a waistband,

something that really shows your figure a little bit more, plus it's gonna up your confidence

so your choices will be in alignment there, ok?

And my third strategy is surrounding yourself with a squad, alright?

Community is everything.

And during the holidays you might be going to office parties, you might be going to family

parties and that can for a lot of us bring up a lot of stress and so then we you know,

want to over drink, overeat or just kind of check out, right?

Not this year girlfriend.

Surround yourself with a squad of like-minded people, so maybe it's your girlfriends or

you end up texting each other a little bit more, or just taking the time to get on the

phone.

Skyping with friends or relatives that live far away, but the point of doing that is making

sure that you're surrounded by people that make you feel good when you spend time with

them, alright?

Because sometimes that isn't the case with our family and our co-workers or you know,

all of these events we are going to be going to.

So, I hope that these strategies, these secrets really help you to stay slim and sane during

the holidays.

Now I've got a great invitation for YOU.

Sea Lions (HD) | JONATHAN BIRD'S BLUE WORLD - Duration: 13:21.

Next on Jonathan Bird's Blue World, Jonathan dives with sea lions in the Galapagos...

and heads over to the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut to learn how smart

these animals really are! Hey! Good work!

Hi, I'm Jonathan Bird and welcome to my world!

( ♪ music )

The Galapagos. These remote islands are one of my favorite places in the world to dive.

The land ranges from desert-like and inhospitable, to lush and green.

And the Galapagos are famous for endemic species such as the massive land tortoise that munches

on grass and leaves, and the marine iguana.

Underwater, huge schools of hammerhead sharks patrol the drop-off.

And a sea lion, apparently knowing that it is a protected species, sleeps peacefully

just inches from my lens.

The sea lions in the Galapagos are so comfortable around people that they have even taken over

a few of the marinas. Good luck walking down these steps!

Out on a beach, a sea lion mother sleeps peacefully while her pup nurses. Pretty soon it will

be mom's turn to go feed and the pup will rest.

This is 3 month old pup, and he's still nursing from his mother. But she's out at

sea feeding right now and he's taking a nap.

Even though sea lions rest on land, their true personality can only be seen underwater.

So I'm gearing up for a dive near a sea lion colony to see what they think of me.

I board the Zodiac with my cameraman Pierre for a short trip to Cousins rock.

Jonathan: "Ready?"

Boat driver: "Uno, Dos, Tres."

Pierre and I roll into the chilly water and within seconds, a young sea lion buzzes me.

The younger ones are the most playful. Once they figure out that I'm in the mood to

play with them, the sea lions come from every direction, zooming past my camera lens, blowing

bubbles and generally making me feel like a pretty pathetic swimmer!

The sea lions are lithe and flexible, able to twist and turn on a dime, bending their

bodies into what seems like impossible angles.

Soon, I'm approached by a larger animal an adult male sea lion. When it comes to sea

lions, the adult males have control over a section of beach, a section of water, and

all the females and younger males in the area. This guy wants to know who is messing with

his section of ocean, and whether or not I pose a threat. I'm not sure what his strange

croaking vocalizations mean, but he certainly finds my camera lens interesting. It's important

that I do not do anything to challenge him, because he has big teeth, and he can bite.

Finally he decides I'm not doing anything to cause concern, and departs.

Then the younger sea lions go back to their antics, hanging upside down and playing in

a little overhang under the reef. You know, very few animals in the ocean will

play with people, and sea lions are probably the most playful. It's so great, you get

in the water and they're like puppy dogs. They just love divers! They want to play and

hang out for hours—it's just great fun!

My experience in the Galapagos with sea lions showed me that these animals are a lot like

dogs. They are curious, playful, and seem to enjoy interaction with people. But how

smart are they? I want to learn more about these aquatic puppy dogs...

So I have come to the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut to learn about sea lions from some experts.

Since 1973, the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic Connecticut has been one of the premiere public

aquaria in the United States. Their exhibits both large and small highlight underwater

life from all around the world.

Perhaps one of their most famous exhibits is the outdoor Beluga whale habitat—where

sometimes it's not actually clear who is watching whom.

The Mystic sea lion program is famous around the country for the amazing skills they have

taught to their California sea lions.

The Mystic sea lion team is going to show me how they train the animals and how smart

they are. First I meet with sea lion trainer Deborah Pazzaglia. She introduces me to the

largest sea lion at Mystic—a big male named Cocoa.

Deb: "Hi big guy"

Jonathan: "WOW!"

Deb: "Good. This is Coco!"

Jonathan: "Hi Coco."

Deb: "He is 24 years old. He weighs over 700 pounds."

I'm a little nervous about getting a smooch from an 800 pound sea lion, but this is my

job! Whew! Fish breath!

Deb: "Good boy. ( clap ) There you go you can stand up. You're all set."

Jonathan: I gotta tell you what, that's a big animal!!

Next I meet a smaller sea lion named Boomerang, and Deb shows me how they start the training

program.

Deb: "So this is Boomerang. He's four years old."

It involves a lot of fish and a bright ball on a stick as a target to keep the animal's

attention.

Deb: "...trusting relationship. Once we establish that. We pair that word 'good'

that I was telling you about with the fish. Say about target to actually be hand signal.

Then pretty soon it's just ta da. Well, hello! Good boy. Good!

"So when we train the animals we give them lots of hand signals. That gets them to do

the behaviors we want them to do. Good. And were going to let you see what it's like

to be a trainer."

Jonathan: "Alright."

Deb: "Good. So what we're going to do is, I'm going to use those targets again.

Now it's my turn to try training.

Deb: "You're going to stand up right next to him over here. Back up a little bit. There

you go here we are. That's perfect. Now when I give you the hand signal he's going

to switch his focus to over to you."

Jonathan: "OK"

DED: "And that's when I'm gonna have you put your fists together."

Jonathan: "Fists together?"

Deb: "Fists together."

Jonathan: "OK"

Boomerang makes noise

Deb: "You can drop them"

Jonathan: "That is the signal to burp?"

Deb: ( laughs ) "Actually you know what's funny about that. He didn't do the right

behavior. That's not what he was suppose to do."

Jonathan: "Really?"

Deb: "Not at all. Good. So I didn't reinforce him. I just let him sit there for a second."

Jonathan: "OK."

Deb: "Remember"

Jonathan: "Alright."

Deb: "Alright."

Jonathan: "Got it."

Deb: "If you want to do that behavior. Let's let you do that behavior here we go."

Boomerang makes noise

Deb: "Good."

BOTH: "Alright!"

Deb: "Let me try this one more time. BARK!"

( boomerang barks )

Deb: "Good. Alright here's your time to shine. Let's see how good of a trainer you

are. Ready?

Jonathan: "OK."

Deb: "You're with him"

Later, I head behind the scenes to learn what it takes to keep these sea lions healthy and

well fed.

Jen: "This is Julie."

Jonathan: "Hi Julie, Jonathan. I'd shake your hand, but ewww!"

Inevitably, these things always seem to involve some smelly fish.

Jen: "Even though we get this from restraint distributors it's the same fish you would

get if you went to order it. We want to make sure that it's really high quality and we're

not feeding animals something that will make them sick.

I meet trainer Jen Rego, who happened to pull fish duty today.

Jen: Any fish that have cuts in them, like this is"

We have to thaw, sort and inspect the fish.

Jen: "...Bacteria to get in there and we don't want to feed that to our animals"

Jonathan: "You guys need some sharks. They love the ones with the cuts in them."

Jen: "We make sure that there's nothing going to make our sea lions sick."

Jonathan: "This one's like a board."

Jen: "Yup! So we're going to run under water kind of soften up a bit. So he's got

a little bit of that fish wiggle to him. Perfect."

Jonathan: "Nice. Come back. Maybe we can revive him.

Jen: "I don't know if the seal lions want to work for their lunch."

Jonathan: "How pliable does he need to be?"

They do this 6 times a day! Those sea lions are hungry!

Jen: "So we are finally done."

Jonathan: "Yeah"

Jen: "That's our fish for this session."

Jonathan: "That's a lot of fish. I'm just saying. WOW!"

Jen: "So right here. This is all the fish the sea lions ear for 1 out of 6 session for

the day."

Jonathan: "So you're starting it again in 2 hours?"

Jen: "Exactly"

Jonathan: "Hopefully we'll be out of here by then."

Next, trainer Kristen Patti takes me out to the stage where I'll try one of the less

glamorous jobs in the Mystic Aquarium.

Jonathan: "So these go over my shoes then?"

Kristen: "They do. Hopefully they'll fit."

Jonathan: "These are like galoshes. You know. What if my foot is too big? I don't

think it's going on. They're never going to come off. Now I wear my muck boots. It's

never a good sign when you gotta put on foot wear like this before you get started. OK

I'm ready. I'm ready."

Kristen: "Ready? We're going in the back and go on stage"

Jonathan: "OK"

Kristen: "Hose off some of that nice big poop right here."

Jonathan: "Alright (laughs) We're hosing some poop. Stand back. Stand back--crazy man

with a hose. That's right. There like oh hose that in the water with us. What are you

doing? I think this one's dried on."

Lets just say that the smell of sea lion poop is unpleasant. Not a job I want to do every day.

My day at the Mystic aquarium is a lot of fun. What did I learn? Sea lions are very

smart—at least as intelligent as dogs. Some of the sea lions at the Mystic Aquarium know

more than 100 commands and hand signals!

But when they aren't performing in the show, they are still just fun loving sea lions,

goofing around underwater—to the delight of people of all ages!

DOCUMENTING POOP - Episode 077 - Duration: 10:01.

What is up crew?

Calvin Wayman here.

This is Millionaire Case Study Episode 77.

Awesome, okay I'm gonna pop in here.

This is gonna be less than 10 minutes.

Because I have a call in 10 minutes.

By the way just to document the reason this looks different

is I'm here in Riverton, Utah.

This is my brother Aaron's house.

So just wanted to catch up with you guys, if you follow

Millionaire Case Study, today is October 9th 2017

and if you have followed Millionaire Case Study then you might know that that's been

a while since an episode.

The last episode was September 16th and I tried to do one at least once a week.

And I haven't done one and why.

Well, I've been meaning to do one over and over and over.

And I haven't gotten myself to do it.

And so the reason I just wanted to push record now, I finally got to the point that I can

where I felt confident enough is well, the reason Millionaire Case Study needs to exist.

Why it even exist in the first place to capture this stuff.

So in just full honesty, openness and transparency as much as I can, I've been feeling pretty

fucking shitty and I'm not saying that to feel sorry for me.

Hopefully by that time you actually see this, I'm confident or at least hopeful that I have

pulled through it by now.

But I've been stuck in a lot of ways it has felt like since last episode and overwhelmed

and pressured in so many ways.

And so I just highlight some of the reasons and why.

First of all, I've gotten overwhelmed where I feel like I have goals and I haven't achieved

the goals and things have been like stacking on itself, overwhelmingly getting a backlog

of stuff to do.

Even this, even Millionaire Case Study interestingly enough.

Cuz right now as I record this, I have at least 20 episodes that aren't even published at this

point.

That I still need to go fucking edit and don't know how.

I have clients that have cancelled, other clients that are wrapping up and it's like where the

fuck am I gonna get new money?

I've had issues like with I did a sponsorship at an event in Las Vegas last weekend and

it went not according to plan.

In the sense that I already spent 3 thousand dollars to go there then I spent a shitload

of money on books because I decided to give a book to everybody.

All that was fine but then there was this surprise 400-500 dollar charge for my books

and then people that were hosting the event wanted to do something nice.

So they said they would give me a table, a sponsorship booth in exchange if I pay for

the 400-500 dollars for the books.

I did that and then right when I did it, I went and got my booth that I had brought with me

just in case I was gonna have the booth open to me.

And there was this whole mix up that looked like that I planted the whole thing because

I had my booth stuff with me already, it looked shady.

And to make so it wasn't shady, I was like you know what I don't want it to be like this and so I

know first impression matters and so if I need to pay the rest of this booth then I

will.

And so unplanned 2 thousand dollars went gone like that, plus the 400.

So like 2500 dollars just went poof...

In a time where it's a financial crunch.

That's just one thing, and I've kind of processed that in some way and don't want to dwell on

it and in fact on of the things that I'm going to do here after this and after I do a phone

call that I need to get on in about 5 minutes is process those types of emotions.

Because at first I was freaking pissed and then I was pissed not only at the situation but

at myself for handling it wrong and for losing 2500 dollars just like that.

Thinking of different ways I could have handled it which brought up things of regret, didn't

feel good.

So long story short, let me just put it down into a, try to simplify this.

I just feel like I have so many things I need to fucking decide, big decisions, life decisions,

business decisions.

So not only a ton of stuff to do, I'm just thinking of them right now.

business decisions that I have taken on.

I'm like holy shit, I still gotta do that, I gotta help this other client get on board.

I gotta help another client that just came on board.

It's just like oh fuck, I was gonna send an email after that, I forgot to send this email

I have a whole list of things I need to go do on top of that having the financial pressure.

Wondering if I'm even in the right mind of work, right now.

Am I doing what feels right?

Am I doing what feels aligned?

Am I like, am I living an authentic life?

Like it's going as deep as that.

Am I in the religion that I want to be in, should I even be religious?

Am I in this culture situation that I'm in right now, even with my family, in my church

and everything.

That I actually believe in the religion I was born in?

How is this affecting business?

In all these, you might be wondering how the hell does this have anything to do with making money

and being a millionaire?

I don't know except that it's all tied together because it's my life and if I'm doing stuff

in life that's feeling overwhelming and it's gonna spill over into my business.

So I just want to capture it.

On top of that, this last weekend was also the Vegas shooting that I'm sure you've heard

of by now.

And I was in Vegas that weekend, the weekend the shooting happened.

And I was there the whole weekend and my wife and I and our 2-month old, we left at like

9 P.M.

We left Vegas at 9 P.M. and the shooting happened like an hour later.

So that a little bit of a mind fuck like just realizing how close it was we could have been

caught up in the mess.

And I had a lot of friends that were there while it was happening.

And so I think the ultimate thing I want to talk about here just wrapping this episode

before I jump on this call is, this is the real stuff I'm dealing with.

I don't want this to be an episode that I look on as a time to feel sorry for me cuz

I shouldn't and I'm not even saying it as a way to get it out and get other people to

give me sympathy.

I don't want sympathy on this episode.

As of right now I don't even know if I want to show this episode on social media, I'll probably

just post it quietly on my YouTube channel so it's there more for documentation purposes

than anything else.

But the other thing I want to document is, this is just the real stuff that's happening

but I want to talk about now like what I'm doing to pull out of it.

And what I want to do is instead of thinking of all these things that if I just get done like

things in my business I need to get done.

Other things I need to get done and get that taken care of in a way I think that's just

a bandaid.

Instead what I'm exploring is the deeper internal stuff of where the triggers come from, the things that

trigger me to just want to get distracted on social media or not get my stuff done and that create

the negative spiral that I'm in right now and one of things that I think I'm going to

do help me figure this out is journaling in some way.

Like that's another thing that I haven't done by the way just want to document

I normally journal almost everyday and I haven't.

I haven't felt like journaling, I haven't felt like doing a fucking thing.

And so I want to explore this, I want to explore like what's making me feel overwhelmed and

write everything out all the tasks that need to get done and I want to connect to my vision with

what I want to do, Then just decide what I'm going to do based on my vision and my values.

Not on the pressure that I feel like I have.

Anyway, this is kind of a pooey episode, here in episode 77.

I know it's not the grandest thing.

It's not pretty and it's just been a day by day thing and it's been kind of a constant reminder

that I'm turning 30 in three weeks.

Am I gonna be a millionaire by then?

Doesn't fucking look like it.

So how am I going to handle that, we'll see and what am I doing to do different so it

doesn't own me but that I learn from it, I can progress and move forward.

These are some of the questions I'm dealing with right now and not much else to do except

I hope this snapshot of what's going on just gives you a taste, gives me a taste to look

back on later, what I'm dealing with right now.

What this battle is, in this part of the game and what I'm more excited about is to see what

I did to get through this.

Cuz as quiet as it is, the one thing bubbling up right now is, I'm not going to fucking

give up.

I don't know how or what I'm going to do even if it gets worse than it is now.

I'm not going to stop, I'm going to keep going.

And so in that there must be some lesson that we can all learn from.

So I'm Calvin Wayman, as you can see a regular dude, nothing special going through the shit.

This is the journey, the first story following a millionaire go through the journey as it's

happening.

So if this was useful to you in anyway, or if you know somebody else going through this

process please share this with them.

And I'll see you on a brighter episode on the next Millionaire Case Study episode.

Thank you so much for watching.

Peace out!

(T-Rex roars)

- [Aurora] Join us for Roman and Aurora's

- [Children] Childhood Adventures!

- Today we are in the desert.

- [Man] The painted desert.

- The painted desert.

- [Woman] Can you see the petroglyphs, Aurora?

Petroglyphs are images created by removing

part of a rock's surface.

And these were made around 2,000 years ago.

- We are in a place where we could find big foot.

It's a sign. This is it right daddy?

- [Woman] Yes. It's the petrified forest.

The crystal forest.

(happy music)

Look at all of these trees.

- [Roman] This is a rock.

- [Woman] Yeah, they're now rocks.

- [Roman] This is broken.

- [Woman] And you know what?

These trees

are no longer in existence.

All of these trees are more than 200 million years old.

- Oh no there's a dinosaur.

(T-Rex roars)

(children scream)

(T-Rex roars)

(children scream)

(T-Rex roars)

- [Woman] So guys, do you know how

these crystals were formed?

- I don't know.

- [Woman] So these are more than 200 million years old.

These trees

These trees grew right next to rivers.

And then they fell into the river

and then what happened was the volcanic ash

went into the river and the ash contains silica.

And the silica is what got into the logs

and created the crystals.

Let's see. (gasps) Let's take a look.

Wow.

That is so amazing.

(Woman laughs)

Is this a dinosaur?

Are you coming here to reclaim your chunks of wood?

(Woman laughs)

Oh no don't touch me. Don't catch me dinosaur, no.

Look at the crystals.

Whoa.

- So basically it turned into rocks.

- [Woman] Yeah.

- That's what being petrified is.

- [Woman] Yes, that's right.

- Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe

to Roman and Aurora's childhood adventures.

Bye.

(Woman laughs)

- [Woman] Aurora, are you gonna shoot

Alexander finally died in Babylon at the age of 32 but his death throws into

question two mysteries first how did he die and second where is his body today

there was much speculation around the cause of his death

and since archaeologists don't have a body to autopsy they have to rely on the

primary accounts from the time one theory is that he was poisoned this is

mentioned in a number of primary sources like works by Diodorus and Justin

however not all are convinced by this such as the Greek author Plutarch who

dismissed the idea that Alexander was killed in a poisoning as a likely

conspiracy and fabrication the main argument against the poisoning theory is

the time that passed between Alexander falling ill and his death eleven days

later more recent arguments have suggested that Vera term album a white

hellebore plant could have caused the delay in death nevertheless as with any

mystery there is always more than one theory floating around and others have

attributed his death to natural causes such as malaria or typhoid fever until

someone finds his final resting place and hopefully enough of his body to

conduct a scientific investigation archaeologists will simply have to use

the evidence available to argue for or against different theories but why don't

we know where his body is we should probably call this number

five-and-a-half as it's really a question all of its own initially as one

would expect of a great leader his body was laid to rest immediately after his

death and was visited later by rulers like Julius Caesar and Augustus but in

the centuries after his death the body was moved on two occasions and later

lost from the archaeological and literary record according to the

literary evidence available his body was laid to rest in a

gold sarcophagus and was on its way to Macedon when it was seized by Ptolemy

one of Alexander's successors and temporarily taken to Memphis later told

me the second moved the sarcophagus to Alexandria where it remained until

Ptolemy the fourth replaced the sarcophagus with a glass one and used

the original one to create coins his tomb in Alexander II was open to the

public Intel for unknown reasons it was closed by Emperor septimus severus after

this its fate is unknown some believe this so-called Alexander sarcophagus

housed in the Instanbul Archaeological Museum contained Alexander's remains but

this idea has since fallen out of favor and his body and final resting place

still remain a mystery hopefully one day in the near future archeologists or even

an enthusiastic metal detector might unearth the final resting place of

Alexander the Great and this archaeological mystery will finally come

to an end number four linear a Minoan language

mainly associated with the island of Crete in the Mediterranean linear a is a

form of writing that remains undeciphered inscribed on clay tablets

it is believed to be the origin of the later Linear B script that was

successfully decoded in the 1950s unfortunately although both writing

systems contain some similar symbols archeologists have been unable to

decipher linear a nevertheless just because you don't know what something

says does not mean that you can't investigate it and this is exactly what

archaeologists have done dated 2500 to 1450 BCE the writing style overlapped

with another style known as Cretan hieroglyphic writing and examples have

been found mainly on Crete but also some on the agent islands and on mainland

Greece although some archeologists believe they contain palace or religious

writings until some bright spark manages to decipher the mysterious writing we

will just have to guess what the writing contains number three stone spheres of

Costa Rica locally known as las bolas grandes or the great stone balls in

spanish these mysterious stone spheres are located on the

Delta and the isla del caño in Costa Rica one notable archaeological site

where they've been found is palmar Sur on the southern part of Costa Rica

dating between 300 and 800 seee the area appears to have served as a

multifunctional site with a settlement Cemetery monumental architecture and

sculptures it also contains over 300 Petrus fairs

which create three puzzling questions what was their function how were they

created and where did the material come from as with many of these ancient

megaliths and sculptures the exact function of these spheres remains a

mystery some believe they are grave markers while others believe they might

have been a form of money but it's not just a function that's mysterious how

did their makers manage to create such perfect spheres even in today's age with

significant advances in tools and techniques it is still remarkably

difficult to craft flawless spheres from stone by hand

unfortunately the exact method used to craft them is unknown but some artisans

believe they are some of the finest examples of precision stone carving in

the ancient world even if archeologists managed to

determine why and how they were created it still leaves the question where did

the creators get the granite from while the nearest source found is many miles

away it doesn't show any signs of querying which begs the question where

did the material come from with so many unanswered questions archaeologists will

likely never know the true function behind these stones and it is possible

that they will remain a mystery for years to come which is always a good

thing as it keeps the archaeologists busy number 2 gobekli tepe

Turkey situated about seven hundred and sixty kilometres above sea level in the

southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey gobekli tepe

is an archaeological site dating back between the 10th and 8th millennium BCE

its existence was first noted during a survey conducted in 1963 however

archaeologist Peter Benedict mistook the only parts of the site above ground at

the time to be stone slab grave markers an easy mistake to make if you aren't

familiar with local site and it wasn't until archaeologist Klaus

Schmidt came across the description of the stone slabs and subsequently began

excavating the site in 1994 that the true skill of the discovery was known if

Klaus didn't stumble across that description of the site it's possible

that it could have remained misinterpreted for years to come

Schmidt's excavations found two distinct phases of use the earliest phase dated

back to the 10th millennium BCE making it the oldest known megalithic structure

in the world in an unprecedented display of ability

this part of the site was made up of about 20 circles of more than 200

massive t-shaped pillars slightly less grand the second phase consisted of

smaller pillars that stood in rectangular rooms with polished lime

floors for unknown reasons the site was abandoned after the pre pottery

Neolithic VIII period which ended just over 8,000 years ago like with any good

mystery this site leaves archaeologists scratching their heads with some of

these pillars weighing between 10 and 20 metric tons how did they lift the

massive blocks let alone transfer them from the query to the site well

archaeologists believe that would have taken about 500 people to move the

stones which is a lot of people considering humans didn't live in big

groups at a time and that also brings up more questions than it answers why did

so many people group together to create the site well unfortunately the exact

function of the site remains a mystery but after excavating the site

Schmidt believed it to be a pilgrimage destination that attracted worshipper

from up to 100 miles away a considerable distance to walk especially remembering

that the will wasn't invented until 3500 BCE but who were these people and what

did they believe that made them create such a massive structure one which

clearly would have taken a lot of effort to build

luckily Schmidt had an answer for this as well a cult of the dead although no

tombs or graves were found Schmidt believed they lay undiscovered

and ironically it wasn't until after his death the evidence to support his theory

was found only recently in 2017 a human crania with incisions

was found interpreted as evidence of a Neolithic school cult even if you accept

Schmidt's theory for why was created and what it was used for that still leaves

the question how did they move the blocks and who exactly build the

structure number one Stonehenge England situated in Wiltshire in the southern

region of England Stonehenge has puzzled travelers local inhabitants and

archaeologists for centuries although parts of the site date back to about

3000 BCE the site under winds several major modifications over a span of 2,000

years before finally falling into disuse however unlike other archaeological

sites parts of it have always been above ground and Britain reference to this

site dates back to 1130 AD and this has resulted in numerous theories as to what

it was used for today the sign is most famous first astronomical alignments

with thousands of people flocking to the site to celebrate the summer and winter

solstices even today after centuries of investigations archaeologists still

debate why it was originally created by whom and for what purpose

with several modifications throughout its use it is no simple task to answer

these questions an archaeologists have come to the conclusion that it was a

multifunctional site that was used for different reasons at different times

popular theories for its function ranged from a burial site a UFO landing site an

astronomical calendar all the way to a ritualistic temple or altar also recent

archaeological investigation suggests it was part of a much larger archaeological

site that contains numerous ancient structures which again poses even more

questions than it answers so many mysteries surround this site why was it

originally built why was it continuously developed who built it where did the

material come from and how did they transport them when it comes to how they

built it it is worth mentioning that some of the stones known as blue stones

originated from a query 140 miles away in wells now these stones weighed about

two tons how did they move them some believe they may have been used in other

monuments nearby and dismantled and brought to will char

while others believe they could have been brought to the site directly from

the query regardless of which theory you believe the next question becomes how

did they move them did they move them over land by placing them on wooden

rolling pillars or did they manage to create a boat strong enough to hold

their weight unfortunately even though archaeologists have tried to replicate

the method they haven't been successful so far and remains one of the most

significant mystery surrounding the site overall so much remains unanswered about

Stonehenge and with the continuous discovery of new sites and finds this

sign is likely going to puzzle archaeologists for years to come which

is likely a good thing as everybody enjoys a good mystery

#FredericksburgFridays Episode #1 - ABCDieselZ with owner Jason Adams - Duration: 4:13.

Jeff Edmisten Here with the Edmisten & Buck real estate team and welcome to our very first episode

Of Fredericksburg Fridays our mission with this series is to spotlight local businesses and community

Organizations, and show you what they have to offer. Today as you can see behind me

We are at ABCDieselZ, and we're going to sit down and talk with the owner Jason Adams

And I'm here at ABCDieselZ with the owner Jason Adams. Good morning. Thanks for having me, man. Thank you for coming

Tell me about your business. What is ABCDieselZ all about?

ABC Diesel's is a lifted diesel trucks dealership

Now in understanding what that all means, a car dealership has pretty much three main focal points of the business you have

vehicle sales

Vehicle parts and then service. So if you, I think you drove up in a Volkswagen

today, if you were to drive up to the Volkswagen dealer, they have parts, their service and their car sales

For us we have cool trucks, and they're all lifted up, (Jeff: and they are cool trucks) Oh, man. They're awesome

they're definitely awesome and

The parts department would be all

After market parts. So the wheels the tires the lights the bumpers the intakes the exhaust all the cool factor

so if you're a car guy

That's kind of what you're gonna want to do and then our services general service plus all the installation. Oh cool

Yep, and then in doing that

Part of the parts thing that we're trying to build, would be on a full website, so that way you could go to

ABCDieselZ.com and you could order up everything that you want so any of fluids or wheels tires

Whatever for the aftermarket industry and then our hope with all this is to carry from

Virginia to North Carolina to South Carolina to Georgia and state to state. Are there any other businesses like yours in the area? No.

So not only are you unique what you do you need to the area too?

actually

We're pretty unique to the entire United States. Really?

Mm-hmm and the reason that were unique to the United States ... you can go anywhere and probably find

used lifted trucks

I mean you can probably fine a dime a dozen

What you don't find is where somebody would take a two hundred thousand mile truck

You think of why somebody would get rid of a two hundred thousand mile diesel truck cause everybody knows a diesel would run forever

The reason people get rid of is you have an oil leak and then you'll have a coolant leak

And it's almost a domino effect so this gets to be a point where so much that they don't want to mess with anymore

So what happens to go get rid of it?

They trade it in get a payment because otherwise they're gonna be spending fifteen thousand dollars in repairs

Just to bring it back to where it's like new again. So what we do is. unlike everybody else

We'll buy a two hundred thousand mile truck because we know that the engine to find transmissions will run fine

You body and interior (unintelligible)

But we'll go back and completely service it and the reason that we do that is when somebody comes to us

You could come in from California, or you could fly your wife in from California

Have her pick up this 200,000 mile truck, have her drive all the way back worry free

I mean you don't know what's gonna happen, right, you could have flat tire, or break a belt, something like that

That would you would have full confidence that your wife would have no problems

And we would have full confidence to send it that that far. If somebody wants more information or wants to talk to you how they do that?

ABCDieselZ.com. Or pick up the phone

People don't do that anymore, they send a text message. Whats the phone #?

five four zero eight nine one two two seven seven

very good. Where are you located?

8505 Jamison Lane, Fredericksburg, Virginia two two four zero seven

Fantastic Jason, thanks Jeff you're awesome man thank you so much for coming down god bless you brother

Thanks for watching our very first episode of Fredericksburg Fridays

If you like this then like it on Facebook comment on it share with your friends

So they too can learn about ABC diesels if you are a local Fredericksburg business owner, or you run a community organization?

And you'd like to be featured on a future episode of Fredericksburg Fridays

Then give me a call Jeff Edmisten five four zero five three eight seven two two two

The Filmmaker's View: Wim Wenders – Analog vs. digital - Duration: 3:50.

"Action."

"Cut."

"How was that."

"Good. A little tight in the push."

"I could do better."

"Okay."

"We are going to the next shot."

"Kiss this pain goodbye."

"Up against ..." - "Wasn't that bad."

"It could be a lot better."

Responsibility is a strange thing. I think you felt more directly responsible

back when filmmaking was still something special.

When you still had to work with negative film,

you had the feeling that you were capturing something unique.

The sense of responsibility you felt for every single image you captured

was noticeable. More tangible, clearer.

Today, you can basically film something whenever you want to.

And somehow, that wonderful moment, when you capture something really special,

isn't worth so much anymore.

But at the same time, you can do so much more today,

so many new things. And because of that,

the responsibilities of the filmmaker and storyteller have changed.

Because anybody can film anything now. Today, every moment is captured on film.

It's become so normal. We're absolutely bombarded with it,

there are so many pictures of everything! And as a result,

the sense of responsibility has shifted.

Back then, we were the only people who did it.

Only those of us who had a movie camera

and the means to put a roll of film into it, and to take it to the film lab afterwards,

so that it could be edited and developed. We were the only ones

who could make a film. It was quite a unique procedure.

But today, the process has been democratized.

You no longer need a film lab. You're basically your own film lab.

Today, every computer has become a film lab.

And today, anybody can make a film, completely on their own,

and theoretically, that film could reach the entire world.

All you need now is a camera of some kind and your own computer

and you can reach the whole world.

All the middlemen, the film lab, the film libraries

all of that can be bypassed today. Of course, that's all fantastic.

It's an unbelievably democratizing process. And on the other hand,

as a result of inflation,

they have to do things differently.

Namely, to counter this deluge. And, as before, that involves telling stories.

That hasn't changed much at all. And telling stories with all the options

digital media offers today,

has somehow remained archaic. Except that now you can do stuff

that you weren't able to do before.

And we still have the same responsibility as before,

except that it's shifted somewhat. And I think we take that more seriously

here in Europe than the Americans do.

We take our craft more seriously. And I think we still take the fact

that we're doing something specific here, more seriously.

And that our storytelling belongs to us. It speaks of our culture

it really speaks our language, and not some wishy-washy language

where words can be switched at will.

We still tell our stories with sensitivity towards the towns and regions,

with sensitivity towards specific stories. And that also makes a huge difference.

Tim Ferriss Podcast Analysis: The Art of Asking Absurd Questions - Duration: 6:39.

I'm Alex Berman and you're watching SELLING BREAKDOWNS.

Tim Ferriss is not a man you can easily define.

You might know him as one of the main Angel Investors in technology.

Or perhaps you read one of his many best-selling self-help books.

And let's not forget about his hugely popular podcast: The Tim Ferriss Show.

However whatever project Tim tackles, there are clear themes to how we approach any task

and the best way to understand this is by looking at the questions that he asks.

Today, we're going to see how Tim Ferriss doesn't ask questions like most other people,

not just to his podcast guests, but to himself.

This is how he can examine an idea or a process from every possible angle, to find a way to

improve it.

Tim's real success started with BrainQUICKEN, an online supplements company which he had

for nine years before selling it off.

But it was the process of running the company that gave Tim the experience to find new ways

to look at productivity.

He often calls himself a human guinea pig and he drastically altered the way he worked

over the years.

This led to his pivotal book The Four Hour Work Week, which laid out his philosophy for

how to cut all the time people waste throughout the working day.

And he stayed pretty busy after that; he wrote follow ups, he's an Angel investor, he's

dipped his toe into tv presenting but it's probably his podcast that has brought him

the widest audience, thanks to close to 100 million downloads.

He has a fascinating range of guests and the big selling point is that he manages to get

insights that few interviewers are able to.

Although he certainly has a natural charm, the key is in the type of question he asks.

Let's quickly talk about questions

There are 2 basic categories; open and closed.

A closed question only allows a yes or no response.

We ask this type frequently, and a lot of the time, we actually want more than a yes

or no answer but the information is limited.

For example;

"Did you have a good day?"

It's kinda weird to just answer "yeah" or "no" and then stop talking, you normally

elaborate a little.

But no one wants an essay as a response either.

Open questions have multiple or infinite answers but within these there are other kinds.

Factual questions are typically what, where, who.

They normally have a right or wrong answer.

Then there are divergent and evaluative questions.

These require critical thinking; why did this happen?

How did you do it?

So, what kind of questions do you think Tim Ferris is going to ask?

These last types, that provide more thoughtful answers.

He's not so interested in his guest's biography or the things you could read off

a fact sheet.

He wants insight into the choices that got them to the level of success they are at.

Of course, he still needs factual questions, since they keep the conversation flowing but

he make guests evaluate choices and behaviour far more than a regular host.

This isn't just a feeling either.

Thanks to the work of a site called transcripts.io, we've been able to go through the transcripts

of some of his shows and see the data.

Let's look at two interviews, both with actor Ed Norton.

One is on Tim's podcast, where they talk for about 1 hour 10 minutes.

The other is from NPR, a show called Fresh Air with Terry Gross.

They talk for about 35 minutes but there are also quite a few clips from Norton's films

peppered throughout, so it's shorter really.

With Terry, Norton get's 4 what-where-who questions and only 3 how questions, zero why.

On top of this there are about 15-20 closed questions.

You can hear it in Norton's responses, he replies "yeah" nine times, and four "no"s

But with Tim Ferriss, there are 22 what-where-who's, 7 how and whys and just three closed questions.

In the entire interview, Norton replies yeah, yes or no just three times, one of each.

Just think about that for a second, think about sitting down and talking to someone

for an hour and only replying yes or no, three times.

That would hardly ever happen, right?

And if you think this could just be a coincidence, we checked another guest.

When legendary record producer Rick Rubin talks to Tim, he answers Yeah or Yes about

7 or 8 times and two no's.

But on another interview with Ben Greenfield on his fitness podcast, that number jumps

up to over 20 yeah's and yes's, as well as 5 no's.

This is not a criticism of the other interviewers, they have a different purpose than Tim, a

different goal for their questions.

But Tim knows the real insight comes when he makes people really think about their answers.

And if you look at when Tim is interviewed himself, you see exactly why he adopts this

tactic.

The only way he was able to innovate was by asking better questions.

Just listen:

"In your business and your life it's … you get there by improving your thinking and the

shortest way to get to better thinking is by asking better questions.

And so…

If people listen to a couple of episodes of my podcast, they're going to start to recognise

certain recurring questions right"

And what kind of questions Tim?

"it's those types of questions though that force you to look for the non-obvious

answers"

And his favourite kind of question is a seemingly absurd question.

He's even said that this is one of the main similarities among the outstanding performers

in all fields

"The biggest commonality is asking absurd questions"

But why, what's the point of them.

Well…

"So these absurd questions often produce breakthrough answers or brainstorm sessions

because you can't use the constraints or assumptions that you normally do."

So for example, these are some of the questions he's talking about, which are either his

own or those of people he admires

"Why can't you accomplish your 10 year plan in the next 6 months"

"And if you talk to say Peter Diamandis, chairman of the Xprize, he might ask the founders

of companies he's looking at as potential investments, if you had to 10X the economics

of your startup in the next..fill in the period of time, 6 months, 3 months, how would you

do it?"

So now you see why he has this whole approach to questioning.

The only way you're going to find new solutions to existing problems is by thinking about

them in a different way than before.

Tim Ferriss isn't going to be asking these absurd questions at every step but even with

his so-called "regular" questions, he's always looking for a better answer...from

the guest, and certainly from himself as well.

Let me know in the comments - what's an absurd question you've been asked, and what

was your response?

【東方紺珠伝】 Karafuru Sekai「発熱巫女〜ず」【Vietsub/Engsub】 - Duration: 3:19.

Take a trip on the Milky Way.

I'll become a star, sparkling in time with the rhythm!

There was nothing there before, but looking up at it now…

Stardust spreads across the whole night sky.

If I gathered it up in both hands and dressed up, sparkling all the while,

Could I smile from the heart? I embark on a trip to the Milky Way.

I find it and add some colour,

Led by my compass.

I'll become a star, sparkling in time with the rhythm!

Where shall I head for today?

We'll join hands and go to the white moon.

When I close my eyes because it's too bright,

I'll see a golden guidepost.

I wonder if I'll be able to meet my true self one day…

カラフルセカイ (Colorful World) English translated by Releska

I'll start walking barefoot, step by step

While treading upon yesterday in isolation.

The fragments of shooting stars are decorations in my hair, making dreams bloom.

I'll cross over space-time, heading for a world nobody knows.

I found it and drew closer

And then I looked down through the gaps in the clouds.

When I speed up I can't be stopped. I'll liven up and become like the wind.

Where shall I head for today?

I'll start racing toward a blue planet.

I leave a splash behind me—a swarm of meteors,

A rainbow shooting star.

I wonder if I'll be able to meet my true self one day…

My wavering hair burns red as well.

So, too, does my changing heart.

Even if it's somewhere far away,

Come with me toward a rainbow world.

Take a trip on the Milky Way.

I'll become a star, sparkling in time with the rhythm!

Where shall I head for today?

We'll join hands and go to the white moon.

When I close my eyes because it's too bright,

I'll bathe in golden light.

Where shall I head for today?

I'll start racing toward a blue planet.

I leave a splash behind me—a swarm of meteors,

A rainbow shooting star.

I wonder if I'll be able to meet my true self one day…

I wonder where I'll end up, out there in the silver distance…
