Youtube daily report w Nov 24 2017

Hello everyone, what's happening?

Well, today will be a day of celebration because today my channel's birthday!

(How to celebrate)

and that means that I have been learning for

1 year

I couldn't believe it when I was looking back and trying to work out when I started my channel

but yeah, i can't believe it myself

well, a lot of things have happened since I starte with the language

i've made lots of friends since learning the language

a lot of good friends who know me only as a Welsh speaker

SIAWNS AM GEM?!

so, to speak..

English with any of them would feel weird to tell the truth

I couldn't imagine back then just what type of effect

the language would have on my life

you don't realise you when you start with Welsh

I can remember thinking "Right. I want to learn Welsh as quickly as possible"

and also, I want to be

as fluent as possible in a short time

but I just couldn't imagine how things are now

We moved to Aberystwyth in February and that was great for us

just to get the chances to use the language every day

and that made things so easy

when Lara and I decided

to try and live our lives totally through Welsh

I've had loads of highlights

over the year also.

I was on Radio Cymru three times (I meant to say S4C - No idea what I was thinking here!)

Alun: Nicky originally comes from Rhondda Valley

Alun: and he has succesfully learnt Welsh

Alun: in five months

Nicky: it's a lovely town to be honest. I;ve been coming here

Nicky: since I was young for holidays

Nicky: with my family. We just decided...

Nicky: ...to live here. I can't explain it any better than that!

I was on Radio Cymru a couple of times also

Menter Iaith Maldwyn asked me to come and give a presentation

to them in order to help other learners

and that was pretty special for me.

And also, last week - Parallel.cymru asked me

to write an article for them

about my journey learning the language

and that was cool also.

So, maybe, right now would be a good time to speak about

what I did to learn the language in a short time

1. First thing. I used "Say Something in Welsh"

on my mobile phone and also on my laptop

now, I know that

sometimes I sounds like an advert

for Say Something in Welsh - but I just canot say how excellent it is

I have used

of methods for learning languages

If it's available, then I have tried it out

but until trying out Say Something. I had never found anything that..

..was totally right for me

I found that things like "Michel Thomas"

were good to start

..languages. But it was

a bit too easy. It's good if you want to know

how to ask for drinks in a bar

or ask for help in a hotel when you're on holidays

but not much more

When I was trying "pimsleurs" out, I was finding the course just so slow

I can remember doing German with Pimsleurs

and after 15 lessons I was still..

doing things like... "I want to eat something" or

"I want to drink something"

y'know? "Say Something"is just so fast

after 15 lessons of "say something"

I was able to say things like

"I met someone in a pub last night who knows your sister-in-law" or

"I've got a son in his 30s who works for the local council"

y'know? which are

quite difficult for someone who is just starting

learning the language

but they're just so useful

because they give you more confidence

that you're actually learning useful Welsh.

not just.. y'know? "I have a rabbit"

"I have a dog" "I have a headache"

"i like football and riding my bike down the park"

things like that? y'know? I cannot recommend "say something" enough

if you want to learn Welsh, there is nothing better than that

trust me. absolutely nothing at all

2 is... surround yourself in the language.

Welsh is a small language to tell the truth. We've got one TV channel - S4C

there's not a lot of Welsh on YouTube to tell the truth

but yeah, you've just got to take advantage what is out there.

when we were starting to learn. Lara and I were

watching childrens programmes like: Hafod Haul,

Fireman Sam, Tref a Tryst also.

and that was a good thing for us

because... well I know that a lot of people

disagree with using childrens programmes when you're learning

but they're just so useful - after...

y'know? after a couple of months of watching things like Hafod Haul

we started to move on to watch things like:

Pobol y Cwm, Hansh

Bore Da and Heno

and other things like that Listen to the radio also.

Radio Cymru is great because they do a good mix

of music,

chat and news

and people like Owain Tudor, Tommo, Garry Owen

what's the other guys name?

HUW STEPHENS!

People like that just make interesting shows

and also, don't worry about understanding everything straight away

no-one expects that at all

when I was starting, I was using the radio as a way

of hearing the language in real-life

at the start, y'know - you understand 1 or 2 words.

(phone beep) you move on a bit and you start to understand

2 or 3 words and before

you realize, you can understand everything - just out of nowhere

trust me

3 is.. use your welsh everywhere.

now, it's so, so, so

important that Welsh becomes a normal part

of your life. So start using

it straight away. Over Facebook, Over Twitter.

over Instagram

over everything. over snapchat

over everything - over everything

when i started using Welsh over facebook

I was finding that it people came out of the woodworks

people I had known for ages, who were Welsh speakers forever.

but, I didn't realise

and they will be so useful to you

Also, I have to say that I lost a couple of friends - to be honest

because some people had had a guts full of me speaking Welsh everywhere

and unfortunately you have to expect things like that

but... y'know? who cares?

not me.

*BURN*

In the last year, I have to say that I have had

lots and lots of support from people

99% of people have been excellent with me

and for that I have to say "Thanks a lot to you all"

I really, really mean it...but

you always get one dickhead

and I remember one man who wasn't quite nice with me

when I was starting

if you've seen my first video - I was learning for something like 2 and a half weeks.

and I must say, looking back now...

yeah - I wasn't much good.

but for two and a half weeks?

in my opinion... I wasn't bad?

everyone liked that video. everyone except one guy

he saw that video and sent a message to me saying:

"WELL IT WASN'T GREAT

YOU GOT A LOT OF WORDS WRONG YOU GOT A LOT OF WORDS IN THE WRONG ORDER

*foam at mouth* YOU ALSO USED "DW I'N" A LOT AND DW I'N ISN'T

WHAT WE DO!? Y'KNOW!?! YOU;RE FROM THE RHONDDA YOU'RE FROM THE SOUTH

YOU';RE SUPPOSED TO USE "RWY'N" EVERYONE IN THE RHONDDA USES "RWY'N"

NO-ONE USES "DW I'N"

ITS A GOG THING

"Y;KNOW SO YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG"

"AND I DON'T THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA, YOU HAVING THIS CHANNEL"

"AND I DON'T THINK IT'S GOING TO GET YOU ANYWHERE" "AND YOU PROBABLY SHOULD JUST GIVE UP"

"IF YOU DIDN'T GET IT AS A CHILD - YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET IT NOW"

Good friend yeah? I didn';t let that stop me

to tell the truth - people like that

are just dickheads - don't worry about them

four...

4 is: speak with other people.

now, speaking with other people is the most important thing

"say something"is great

but you have to start chatting with other people

if you live in Wales, it just so easy

when I lived in the valleys, I went to the local Welsh shop

and I went to the local Welsh pub.

just to find chances to use the language (i don't know what's wrong with me?)

even in places like Newport and Monmouth

where not a lot of people speak Welsh

you can go to things like "clwb cloncs" over the place

where people meet weekly in order to speak with other learners

and if you live outside of Wales, why not use Skype?

I;ve got friends right over the world, in places like:

America

Germany, Canada

Argentina, Netherlands - and all of them

I know through Welsh. They are all excellent

with the language also. That was key to my success

to tell the truth, just speaking the language

at every chance you can get

5 is: don't be scared at all

now, I know a lot of people who can speak great Welsh

but they're just too scared to chat for some reason: for example

I met a woman in "Siop y Pethe" a couple of months ago

who had been learning Welsh through night classes

for years - but

she was just great with the language but she had not spoken

with anyone outside of the class or "clwb clonc"

I asked her why?

and she said she wasn't confident enough

for some reason. and whats the point of that?

why learn the language at all? go out and speak with people.

fuck it! no-one cares if you say things wrong

or if you have to use English words in order to get the message over

or something. bloody hell!

ask my friends about me. I'm guilty of using English words

all of the time and also don't be afraid

of making mistakes the more mistakes you make

the better off you are going to be trust me

speaking with other people is the only way to improve, to tell the truth.

and you will speak, how people speak on the street

no-one says things like "rydw i'n" (I am) and things like that

like the books say - and real people use things like

well, my favourite thing is...

"i watched" "i watched football last night"

"i watched X Factor on SATURDAY"

"i watched YouTube on the weekend" y'know?

it's not in any dictionary at all

but real people use it

so, yeah! without speaking with other people

you'll be "textbook Welsh" or something like that

a bit boring isn't it?

your language will develop with time. look at me.

I'm a Rhondda boy, right, right, right in the south. but i learnt

from a man from Llandysul

so, I say "Milk", not "milk", or "milk" (i feel this subtitle doesn't really tell the whole story)

but, because I live in the Midlands now (Mid Wales, that is!)

I have found myself starting to say Gog things.

like "with", "i have"

and "Like", sometimes

my friend Llio is at fault for that

but yeah, let your language grow with everything

I'm still a hwntw, really.

I can remember after giving a presentation in Powys

and a guy said to me

"you don't sound like a Rhondda boy to tell the truth. You sound more like.."

.....Proper Cardi"

so, yeah

English - I'm a Rhondda scumbag

Welsh - Proper Cardi. I'll take that

6 is: keep the language alive.

that was the most important thing for me. every person that starts learning

the language is someone who is helping to keep the language alive

and safe for the future, especially with people of Wales

we have a responsibility

to keep the language safe for the future

it's our language, why not use it?

right then, I've spoken enough for now. i've got to say a big thanks

to everyone that has helped me over the year.

there are too many to mention by here

so, yeah. I'll try

if I have forgotten about you. I've got to say, I'm so sorry

I;ve got to say thanks a lot to Lara, my beautiful wife

for putting up with me over the year

Aran and Iestyn for being a big help

my friends down Y Cwps.

my friends from "Siop Y Pethe" like: Emily,

Heulwen, Aled, Lowri, Marc

and also the best Gog in the world: Llio

I couldn't understand any peopl from the North until I met Llio

now, they're just so easy. Finally thanks a lot

for subscribing to me

I hope to bring you another year of weird videos

right then everyone: carry on with your Welsh

let me know how you find it

let me know what you think underneath the video in the comments, by here

and also: don't forget to subscribe to me

up

there

and also if you want to watch another video of me

down there

I have to say Merry Christmas to everyone

until the next time

goodbye!

How Princess On Ice Was Changed Outside Japan - Duration: 3:28.

Censored Gaming has covered in the past how sometimes games will be changed over in Japan

to the make the style and tone less aggressive.

Crash Bandicoot, for instance, was redesigned over in Japan to make them look more cute,

with this believed to be a much more popular style in Japan.

However, what Censored Gaming hasn't covered so much is examples of characters not being

made to look more or less "aggressive", but more or less "anime".

Today we'll be taking a look at case of this happening to the game Princess On Ice - a

Nintendo DS title developed by Japanese company Arc System Works, best known for their fighting

game franchises, Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.

Now, the European release was actually released 8 months before than the Japanese version

and 7 months before the US release.

However, the title is still a Japanese game, as Arc System Works is listed in the credits

and menus as the developers, Japanese publishers, as well as the copyright holders.

The European publishers, 505 Games, are only listed as the Western character designers,

so it's unknown why it was released so much earlier over in Europe.

The title was released in Japan with a very anime art style and, when it was released

in the West, it underwent some drastic changes.

Outside of Japan, the characters were redesigned, losing the anime style for a more Western

one.

The game is rhythm game where you skate on ice and perform special moves by tapping and

manipulating the icons that pop up with the right timing.

The first thing to point out is that "all" of the characters were completely redesigned

outside of Japan to the character models seen here.

Interestingly, the Western version also replaced the "blood type" info in the character's profiles

to their favourite colour.

This may be something some of you are already familiar with but Japanese culture has a huge

fascination with people's blood types and you can find lots of superstitions and other

beliefs based on what type of blood a person has.

In that sense, it's a little like people's zodiac signs over in the West and blood type

can be used to determine things like relationship compatibilities and personality.

In fact, whilst the English versions list the characters' zodiac signs underneath their

birthdays, the Japanese version didn't include the zodiac signs at all.

Moving on though, like mentioned "all" character were changed.

This means that the ice skating coach who you meet up with a lot during the game's story

mode was also altered.

As you can see, amongst other changes, she was made a red head and lost the glasses over

in the West.

The other characters in the game are the ice skating judges, who were all completely redesigned.

The Western versions also felt it would be better to put them all in matching outfits

- this being a blue suit, white shirt and blue tie.

Another change that you'll be able to find is to some of the animations that the characters

perform.

Going along with the anime art style, the Japanese version will have some very anime-styled

animations and facial expressions - such as the blank eyed look shown here.

The Western version of this scene, though, doesn't have any different animation to go

along with it.

It just keeps the character's facial expressions the same throughout.

It's also relevant to point out how these very same changes were made to the later spin

off game Rockin' Pretty but only in the European version.

The European version was also renamed to Diva Girls: Making The Music.

Rockin' Pretty is another rhythm game made by the same developers but about starting

a rock band and it seems that the folks at Aksys Games wanted to keep the art style the

same as the Japanese version.

That's about it for the changes made to Princess On Ice, though, but with how drastic these

re-designs were, it was definitely felt that this would be something interesting to point

out and document over on the channel.

Until next time, thank you for watching.

Aran and Iestyn for being a big help

my friends down Y Cwps.

my friends from "Siop Y Pethe" like: Emily,

and also the best Gog in the world: Llio

I couldn't understand any peopl from the North until I met Llio

now, they're just so easy. Finally thanks a lot

for subscribing to me

I hope to bring you another year of weird videos

right then everyone: carry on with your Welsh

let me know how you find it

let me know what you think underneath the video in the comments, by here

there

and also if you want to watch another video of me

Fahrenheit 451| BOOK REVIEW (CC) - Duration: 4:15.

It was a pleasure to burn—

or so Guy Montag believes

at the start of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

In my case,

it was a pleasure to re-read this book and,

I have to admit,

the older I get,

the more relevant this book becomes

despite the fact that it celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2018.

Guy Montag is a fireman of the future—

he and his team burn books,

and set fire to the possessions

of those citizens hiding books.

The calls always come at night,

and the spectacle of living fire

mixed with the charcoal remains of history

draw onlookers from all around.

He does his job and he doesn't ask questions.

He loves it, he thinks.

One night, as he's returning from the fire station,

Montag encounters Clarisse McClellan,

his unusual sixteen-year-old neighbour

who manages to burn his life to the ground

with a single question—

are you happy?

What does it mean to be happy

in an age of distraction?

Can we be happy

if we refuse to dip below the surface

of our thoughts and emotions?

If we isolate ourselves with technology,

how can we create meaningful relationships

with the people around us?

If we only focus

on our own fun and entertainment,

and refuse to challenge ourselves

and question our view of the world,

can we even say we're still alive anymore?

Fahrenheit 451 is a mere 150 pages,

and Bradbury covers all of these topics and more,

and I love the fact that this book

is still sparking these discussions almost 65 years later.

I never read Fahrenheit 451 in school,

and I wonder how I might have reacted

to it had a read it as a teenager.

I think it may have fallen into the same camp as 1984,

which totally blew my mind at sixteen.

Most people tend to think of Fahrenheit 451

as the book about censorship,

or the book about book burning,

and while both of those are true to a degree,

Bradbury actually points to real danger of distraction.

There's the iconic moment

where Montag finds himself on the train,

desperately trying to memorize the Book of Revelation,

and he can't hear himself think

over the sound of the Denham's Dentifrice jingle

blaring through the train.

He's been conditioned to think at such a shallow level,

he doesn't even understand what he's reading,

he's just trying to memorize as much as possible

before the book could be taken and burned.

But his own environment is breaking down his ability to think.

We see it in the technology that Mildred,

Montag's wife, loves to use—

she's the one with the fabulous TV parlor

where she sits and listens to "the family" scream at her,

even though she doesn't know what they're screaming about;

she also uses Seashells,

which sound a lot like earbuds,

to listen to the buzz of voices and music instead of sleeping.

I used to think Bradbury was so harsh

in his depiction of Mildred

and most of the women in the novel,

mostly because they represent the willfully ignorant—

they're the ones who don't want to think,

and don't want to be enlightened,

and just want to have fun.

And yet, I had totally forgotten about

one moment, and I'm so glad I re-read this—

when we first meet Mildred,

she's overdosed on sleeping pills,

and Montag has to call some people

to pump her stomach and give her a blood transfusion.

She never mentions this episode to him afterwards.

The following week,

Montag pretends to be sick

in order to avoid going to work,

and Mildred's upset because he's breaking his routine.

He yells at her and says

"How long is it since you were really bothered?

About something important, about something real?"

This is the moment I forgot—

He realizes there's a Mildred somewhere inside of her

who's deeply bothered

and knows there's something horribly wrong with the world,

but her voice has withered

and her thoughts have been tamped down for so long,

she doesn't even know they exist.

But her love for technology and entertainment

masks the pain,

and allows her to disengage from those unwanted emotions.

I don't know that I would have picked up on that as a teen,

I think I would have just hated Mildred outright.

But, I get her this time around.

This is why I support re-reading books.

There's an academic in hiding called Faber

in this book,

and he summarizes things beautifully—

it's not to books themselves that we need,

but better quality information,

the dedicated quiet time

to sit and think about that information,

and the right to carry out actions

based on what's learned from the first two.

In this world, the public chose to stop reading,

and chose to stop thinking,

and the firemen are nothing more than the circus

come to town.

So Booktube, keep reading

and keep talking about big ideas—

we might save the world one day.

Overall, I gave this re-read four out of five stars.

If you liked this video,

make sure to give it a thumbs up to support this channel.

As always, thank you for watching,

and make sure to subscribe for more videos

from Across the Litoverse.

On that note, signing off.

There's the iconic moment when Montag is sitting on the train, jesh—

Okay, "JESH".

"JESH-PERATELY"!

Estonian pagan holidays: Kadripaev (Finnish with subs) - Duration: 5:07.

Hello it is Niina and you are watching Fairychamber channel.

When recently I talked about St. Martins day

in Estonia. Today I am going to tell you about Kadripaev.

Kadripaev is celebrated in

Estonia on 25th of November.

Kadripaev

is derived from

St. Catherine. Kadripaev was also celebrated in

Finland when people

lived in agricultural society.

St. Catherine was the protector

saint of sciences in ancient Alexandri

But this celebration has pagan origins

like pretty much all festivals around the world.

Kadri was an invisible spirit/deity

who was the protectord goddess of livestock.

It is believed that this character Kadri has even

older origins dating back to ancient worship of the goddess/ cult of the mother earth.

In Scandinavia, Baltic countries

and all over the world.

During Kadripaev in Estonia

women were not allowed to do anything that had something to do with wool.

They were not allowed to weave,

knit or crochet or sew.

It was forbidden to do anything with wool. Wood was tabu on

Kadripaev because

Kadri was protective saint

of the livestock and

what came to the earlier Kadri deity/ goddess

sheeps

were her sacred animals.

In Kadripaev people too special good care of the sheeps as well.

Same way as during St.Martins

there was also parades in Kadripäev.

When during Mardipäev chilren dressed up as litte martis

During Kadripäev kids were little kadri´s.

Both boys and girls dressed up as women.

These "kadri spirits" went from house to house

singing and dancing

and performing little plays and all that.

But to get in

at the door children had to

make sheep-voices

and then they were let in.

Fortune telling and spells were also

part of Kadripäev.

One of them was to tell who of the ladies got married first.

Beans and seeds were thrown into the floor

all single ladies

gathered into a circle

a rooster or goose or a chicken was brought in.

Bird was let free

and to which lady it would go first

she would be the first to get married.

So the same way as

during Mardipäev there was

groups of mardi spirits walking around villages

in Kadripäev Kadri ghosts were all around.

Mardi ghosts kept lots of noice but

Kadri ghosts were more

elegant

and way more quiet.

When during

Mardipäev parade was lead by

Mardi-father

a male figure.

In Kadripäev parade

was lead by Kadri-mother

she was followed by Kadri-father and

kadri children sometimes they

had kadri-dog, kadri-cat and kadri-horse all kinds of kadri-animals

and most of the times animals

were people waring masks.

Kadripäev was feminine balance

for partriarchy or Mardipäev.

Kadripäev parade

also went into a large building

where there was big Kadripäev festival

filled wit music dance

and good food.

Some Kadripäev foods were barley porridge,

bean and pea foods and

lamb in porridge

and kama balls.

Kama is sort Slavic flour mixture.

In modern day Estonia you can´t really find Kadriday parades

anymore but there are

small Kadri-groups.

It´s bit like Star boys in northern Finland lol.

There is handful of children

or teens in these Kadri groups

who go performing

usually they sing and play flutes.

The celebration of Kadripäiv

has shrieked from what it used to be.

Thank you for watching guys

give this video thumbs up if you liked it

join my

channel if you wish to learn more about Estonian pagan holidays and

other interesting things

I´ll see yo on my next video.

Bye bye )O(

Why should I be destructive and remain reckless of betterment?

Why should I be destructive and remain reckless of betterment?

Why should I be destructive and remain reckless of betterment?

Why should I be destructive and remain reckless of betterment?

Think not of the future, remain occupied in today's problems?

Should I hear nightingale's wails, and remain completely silent?

O companion! Am I some flower so that I may remain silent?

The strength of my poetry is encouraging to me

Woe be to me! My remonstrance is against God!

It is true that we are famous in the methods of obeisance

But we are relating our story of pain out of compulsion

Though a silent orchestra, we are full of complaint

If the wailing comes to lips we are excusable

O God! Listen to the remonstrance also from the faithful

Listen to some complaint also from the one accustomed to praise you

Though Thy Eternal Essence had existed since eternity

The flower existed in the garden but fragrance had not dispersed

Justice is a condition, O Lord of Universal Benevolence

How could flower's fragrance spread if zephyr did not exist?

This problem's solution was the source of satisfaction to us

Otherwise was the Holy Prophet's Ummah insane?

The scene of Your world was strange before us

Stones were adored somewhere, trees were worshiped somewhere

The eyes of Man were accustomed to tangible forms

How could they be amenable to accept the Unseen God?

And canst You say that even once one of these did Your name recite?

The strength of the Muslim's arm completed Thy task!

Saljuqs were living here and the Turanâs also

The Chinese in China and in Iran the Sasanâs also

The Greeks were also living in the same habitation

In the same world were the Jews and the Christians also

But who raised the sword in Thy name?

Who re-claimed the despoiled world in Thy name?

We alone were the marshals of Thy troops!

We were fighting now on land and now in the oceans

Sometimes we were calling adhans in the Europe's cathedrals

And sometimes in the scorching African deserts

We never cared for the grandeur of monarchs

We recited the Kalma under the shade of swords

Once firmly standing in the battle we were immovable

Even lions in the battle against us would be in flight

We were enraged if someone rebelled against Thee

Not to talk of sword we were fighting against cannons

We impressed Tawéâd's picture on every heart

We conveyed this message even under the dagger

Tell us Thou, by whom was uprooted the gate of Khaibar

By whom was conquered the city which was Qaisar's?

By whom were the images of created gods destroyed?

By whom were the armies of infidels slaughtered?

By whom was the fire temple of Iran extinguished?

By whom was the story of Yazdan restored to life?

1 year of Learning Welsh - 1 blwyddyn o ddysgu Cymraeg - Duration: 15:41.

Hello everyone, what's happening?

Well, today will be a day of celebration because today my channel's birthday!

(How to celebrate)

and that means that I have been learning for

1 year

I couldn't believe it when I was looking back and trying to work out when I started my channel

but yeah, i can't believe it myself

well, a lot of things have happened since I starte with the language

i've made lots of friends since learning the language

a lot of good friends who know me only as a Welsh speaker

SIAWNS AM GEM?!

so, to speak..

English with any of them would feel weird to tell the truth

I couldn't imagine back then just what type of effect

the language would have on my life

you don't realise you when you start with Welsh

I can remember thinking "Right. I want to learn Welsh as quickly as possible"

and also, I want to be

as fluent as possible in a short time

but I just couldn't imagine how things are now

We moved to Aberystwyth in February and that was great for us

just to get the chances to use the language every day

and that made things so easy

when Lara and I decided

to try and live our lives totally through Welsh

I've had loads of highlights

over the year also.

I was on Radio Cymru three times (I meant to say S4C - No idea what I was thinking here!)

Alun: Nicky originally comes from Rhondda Valley

Alun: and he has succesfully learnt Welsh

Alun: in five months

Nicky: it's a lovely town to be honest. I;ve been coming here

Nicky: since I was young for holidays

Nicky: with my family. We just decided...

Nicky: ...to live here. I can't explain it any better than that!

I was on Radio Cymru a couple of times also

Menter Iaith Maldwyn asked me to come and give a presentation

to them in order to help other learners

and that was pretty special for me.

And also, last week - Parallel.cymru asked me

to write an article for them

about my journey learning the language

and that was cool also.

So, maybe, right now would be a good time to speak about

what I did to learn the language in a short time

1. First thing. I used "Say Something in Welsh"

on my mobile phone and also on my laptop

now, I know that

sometimes I sounds like an advert

for Say Something in Welsh - but I just canot say how excellent it is

I have used

of methods for learning languages

If it's available, then I have tried it out

but until trying out Say Something. I had never found anything that..

..was totally right for me

I found that things like "Michel Thomas"

were good to start

..languages. But it was

a bit too easy. It's good if you want to know

how to ask for drinks in a bar

or ask for help in a hotel when you're on holidays

but not much more

When I was trying "pimsleurs" out, I was finding the course just so slow

I can remember doing German with Pimsleurs

and after 15 lessons I was still..

doing things like... "I want to eat something" or

"I want to drink something"

y'know? "Say Something"is just so fast

after 15 lessons of "say something"

I was able to say things like

"I met someone in a pub last night who knows your sister-in-law" or

"I've got a son in his 30s who works for the local council"

y'know? which are

quite difficult for someone who is just starting

learning the language

but they're just so useful

because they give you more confidence

that you're actually learning useful Welsh.

not just.. y'know? "I have a rabbit"

"I have a dog" "I have a headache"

"i like football and riding my bike down the park"

things like that? y'know? I cannot recommend "say something" enough

if you want to learn Welsh, there is nothing better than that

trust me. absolutely nothing at all

2 is... surround yourself in the language.

Welsh is a small language to tell the truth. We've got one TV channel - S4C

there's not a lot of Welsh on YouTube to tell the truth

but yeah, you've just got to take advantage what is out there.

when we were starting to learn. Lara and I were

watching childrens programmes like: Hafod Haul,

Fireman Sam, Tref a Tryst also.

and that was a good thing for us

because... well I know that a lot of people

disagree with using childrens programmes when you're learning

but they're just so useful - after...

y'know? after a couple of months of watching things like Hafod Haul

we started to move on to watch things like:

Pobol y Cwm, Hansh

Bore Da and Heno

and other things like that Listen to the radio also.

Radio Cymru is great because they do a good mix

of music,

chat and news

and people like Owain Tudor, Tommo, Garry Owen

what's the other guys name?

HUW STEPHENS!

People like that just make interesting shows

and also, don't worry about understanding everything straight away

no-one expects that at all

when I was starting, I was using the radio as a way

of hearing the language in real-life

at the start, y'know - you understand 1 or 2 words.

(phone beep) you move on a bit and you start to understand

2 or 3 words and before

you realize, you can understand everything - just out of nowhere

trust me

3 is.. use your welsh everywhere.

now, it's so, so, so

important that Welsh becomes a normal part

of your life. So start using

it straight away. Over Facebook, Over Twitter.

over Instagram

over everything. over snapchat

over everything - over everything

when i started using Welsh over facebook

I was finding that it people came out of the woodworks

people I had known for ages, who were Welsh speakers forever.

but, I didn't realise

and they will be so useful to you

Also, I have to say that I lost a couple of friends - to be honest

because some people had had a guts full of me speaking Welsh everywhere

and unfortunately you have to expect things like that

but... y'know? who cares?

not me.

*BURN*

In the last year, I have to say that I have had

lots and lots of support from people

99% of people have been excellent with me

and for that I have to say "Thanks a lot to you all"

I really, really mean it...but

you always get one dickhead

and I remember one man who wasn't quite nice with me

when I was starting

if you've seen my first video - I was learning for something like 2 and a half weeks.

and I must say, looking back now...

yeah - I wasn't much good.

but for two and a half weeks?

in my opinion... I wasn't bad?

everyone liked that video. everyone except one guy

he saw that video and sent a message to me saying:

"WELL IT WASN'T GREAT

YOU GOT A LOT OF WORDS WRONG YOU GOT A LOT OF WORDS IN THE WRONG ORDER

*foam at mouth* YOU ALSO USED "DW I'N" A LOT AND DW I'N ISN'T

WHAT WE DO!? Y'KNOW!?! YOU;RE FROM THE RHONDDA YOU'RE FROM THE SOUTH

YOU';RE SUPPOSED TO USE "RWY'N" EVERYONE IN THE RHONDDA USES "RWY'N"

NO-ONE USES "DW I'N"

ITS A GOG THING

"Y;KNOW SO YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG"

"AND I DON'T THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA, YOU HAVING THIS CHANNEL"

"AND I DON'T THINK IT'S GOING TO GET YOU ANYWHERE" "AND YOU PROBABLY SHOULD JUST GIVE UP"

"IF YOU DIDN'T GET IT AS A CHILD - YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET IT NOW"

Good friend yeah? I didn';t let that stop me

to tell the truth - people like that

are just dickheads - don't worry about them

four...

4 is: speak with other people.

now, speaking with other people is the most important thing

"say something"is great

but you have to start chatting with other people

if you live in Wales, it just so easy

when I lived in the valleys, I went to the local Welsh shop

and I went to the local Welsh pub.

just to find chances to use the language (i don't know what's wrong with me?)

even in places like Newport and Monmouth

where not a lot of people speak Welsh

you can go to things like "clwb cloncs" over the place

where people meet weekly in order to speak with other learners

and if you live outside of Wales, why not use Skype?

I;ve got friends right over the world, in places like:

America

Germany, Canada

Argentina, Netherlands - and all of them

I know through Welsh. They are all excellent

with the language also. That was key to my success

to tell the truth, just speaking the language

at every chance you can get

5 is: don't be scared at all

now, I know a lot of people who can speak great Welsh

but they're just too scared to chat for some reason: for example

I met a woman in "Siop y Pethe" a couple of months ago

who had been learning Welsh through night classes

for years - but

she was just great with the language but she had not spoken

with anyone outside of the class or "clwb clonc"

I asked her why?

and she said she wasn't confident enough

for some reason. and whats the point of that?

why learn the language at all? go out and speak with people.

fuck it! no-one cares if you say things wrong

or if you have to use English words in order to get the message over

or something. bloody hell!

ask my friends about me. I'm guilty of using English words

all of the time and also don't be afraid

of making mistakes the more mistakes you make

the better off you are going to be trust me

speaking with other people is the only way to improve, to tell the truth.

and you will speak, how people speak on the street

no-one says things like "rydw i'n" (I am) and things like that

like the books say - and real people use things like

well, my favourite thing is...

"i watched" "i watched football last night"

"i watched X Factor on SATURDAY"

"i watched YouTube on the weekend" y'know?

it's not in any dictionary at all

but real people use it

so, yeah! without speaking with other people

you'll be "textbook Welsh" or something like that

a bit boring isn't it?

your language will develop with time. look at me.

I'm a Rhondda boy, right, right, right in the south. but i learnt

from a man from Llandysul

so, I say "Milk", not "milk", or "milk" (i feel this subtitle doesn't really tell the whole story)

but, because I live in the Midlands now (Mid Wales, that is!)

I have found myself starting to say Gog things.

like "with", "i have"

and "Like", sometimes

my friend Llio is at fault for that

but yeah, let your language grow with everything

I'm still a hwntw, really.

I can remember after giving a presentation in Powys

and a guy said to me

"you don't sound like a Rhondda boy to tell the truth. You sound more like.."

.....Proper Cardi"

so, yeah

English - I'm a Rhondda scumbag

Welsh - Proper Cardi. I'll take that

6 is: keep the language alive.

that was the most important thing for me. every person that starts learning

the language is someone who is helping to keep the language alive

and safe for the future, especially with people of Wales

we have a responsibility

to keep the language safe for the future

it's our language, why not use it?

right then, I've spoken enough for now. i've got to say a big thanks

to everyone that has helped me over the year.

there are too many to mention by here

so, yeah. I'll try

if I have forgotten about you. I've got to say, I'm so sorry

I;ve got to say thanks a lot to Lara, my beautiful wife

Aran and Iestyn for being a big help

and also the best Gog in the world: Llio

now, they're just so easy. Finally thanks a lot

for subscribing to me

I hope to bring you another year of weird videos

right then everyone: carry on with your Welsh

let me know what you think underneath the video in the comments, by here

and also: don't forget to subscribe to me

up

there

and also if you want to watch another video of me

You are beautiful ft. Sasha Chettri | The Dudemachi Show - Duration: 2:29.

My grandmother once told me that butterflies can't see their wings

They can't truly see how beautiful they are

..but everyone else can. People are like that as well!

Next time you think of beautiful things, don't forget to count yourself in.

Remember, you are special, you are beautiful, you are you!

Whether it is within the four walls of your home or outside

Your beauty begins the minute you decide to be yourself

These walls don't cage me, from within these walls I charge myself

From within these walls a charge into the world

Breaking notions of beauty but still believing in them

I believe pink

I believe in manicures

I believe in overdressing

I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick

I believe that happy girls are the prettiest

I believe that tomorrow is another day

And I believe in miracles

While it feels nice to leave home, it's even better to come back.

I believe beauty begins in your heart

I believe that beauty begins at home

She Asks Teen What He Wants For Christmas.

Secret He Tells Her Leaves Her Sobbing

For most children – in this country at least – Christmas is a time of magic and wonder.

Kids start writing their letters to Santa, eyes bright as they imagine all the brightly-wrapped

presents that will be waiting for them under the tree.

With houses and shopping malls and even street lights decorated for the holidays, it's

easy to forget there are some kids whose Christmases won't be so cheery and bright.

When Rayn Boncie was 14 years old, she was placed in the foster care system.

A few months after she arrived at her home, another teen girl came to live at the same

house.

When Rayn saw her condition, she was stunned.

"She was also 14 and came in wearing clothing that would have fit a small nine-year-old,"

Rayn recalled.

"I remember seeing her change for bed and noticed reddish-purplish welts on her skin.

Her clothing had literally injured her.

"I made a silent promise to her that day, that when I grew up, I would do something

to help children like her and me."

Rayn kept that promise.

She started Things of My Very Own, Inc., an organization based in Schenectady, New York,

that helps children transition out of bad or abusive situations.

Their goal is to "bridge the gap between what social service entities were able to

provide and what children need."

This year, they decided to create tags that list the specific wishes of children in the

area.

You would expect the tags to list the year's hottest toys or even some cool new clothes,

but the things these kids wished for instead will break your heart.

"None of them list the years hottest toy," Rayn said, "instead, they list children's

innermost hopes and dreams: 'a Dad', 'new clothes so I won't get picked on' or something

as simple as 'a comb.'"

There was one wish especially that broke Rayn's heart and brought her to her knees:

"Perhaps most heart wrenching was the teen boy who asked for feminine hygiene products

for his younger sister so she wouldn't have to keep missing school."

"Every tag is connected to a child who wants to believe that someone in the world cares

about their well-being," Rayn said.

"If we can show them for one moment that someone put their needs ahead of their own,

maybe they will finally believe that what they have endured does not need to define

who they grow up to be.

"For many of these children, we are the spark of hope that lights up their otherwise

dark world.

Many individuals and businesses have already stepped up asking for tags, and for these

children, we hope it is only the beginning."

Help us spread the word about the wonderful work Rayn and Things of My Very Own are doing!

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead off each other as they enjoy a romantic dinner in LA - Duration: 4:04.

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead off each other as they enjoy a romantic dinner in LA

EWAN McGregor and new girlfriend Mary Elizabeth Winstead lavish affection on each other as they enjoy a romantic dinner - after the actor moved out of his marital home.

Scottish McGregor, 46, and American Winstead, 32, wiped tears from each others faces and tenderly caressed each other at the New York venue, which they arrived at and left separately.

After gazing into each others eyes and making jokes to lighten the mood, the couple enjoyed a meal by the light of candles in a private area of the venue.

Its their latest affectionate display following the revelation that Ewan will now wave goodbye to his family life and begin a fully-fledged relationship with the actress, 14 years his junior.

Last Friday Ewan even moved out of the family home, leaving estranged wife of 22 years Eve Mavrakis, 51, for good after their split in May.

And this week Marys former fiance, who she also broke up with in May, was revealed to have been targeted by trolls who posted threats to McGregor on social media after hacking his account.

Mary and Ewan met while working together on US show Fargo and shared intimate scenes, including a shared bath.

During that time, Ewan invited Mary to his family home to meet his wife, which only increased her fury when she found out about the romance.

This month, pictures emerged of them hugging weeks before their secret relationship was exposed - and they show just how intimate that romance was.

They were first spotted kissing in mid-October and by the end of the month, Ewans daughter Clara had cropped him out of a social media snap featuring her parents.

By November 11, Ewan and Mary had gone public with their relationship by walking hand-in-hand in LA. Meanwhile the only comment Eve has made publicly on her husbands behaviour is an Instagram comment, which merely reads: What can I do?.

Across the summer, Eve is thought to have made attempts to mend her marriage to Ewan. But by October the Star Wars actor had made his decision to leave her and begin a new life.

But Mary had been single since May after announcing her split from fiance Riley Stearns on her Instagram account, in a post which has since been deleted.

She wrote: We've decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days. We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always, Riley..

Trolls who recently accessed Rileys account posted a fake response to the news Mary and Ewan for an item. They wrote: Call me a cuck, will ya? Laugh at me, will ya?.

F*** the woman of my dreams behind my back, will ya? @mewins @mscregor_ewan Youre F***ING dead. TV writer Stearns, 31, subsequently came out to confirm he had been hacked and had not issued a threat to McGregor.
