Every day, humans make dozens of judgements,
from deciding whether our clothes match to
determining whether a shady character
in the street is a threat.
Such decisions aren't based on hard-and-fast rules,
a new study reveals.
Instead, our concept of "threat" -
and even of the color "blue" – is all relative.
To make the find, researchers showed non color-blind
participants a series of 1000 dots ranging
from very blue to very purple, and asked them
to judge whether each dot was blue.
For the first 200 trials,
participants saw an equal number of dots
from the blue and purple parts of the spectrum,
but then the prevalence of blue dots gradually
decreased to just a fraction of what it was before.
By the end of the study,
participants' interpretation of the colors had changed:
dots that they had thought were purple
in the first set of trials they now classified as blue
That is, their concept of the color blue
had expanded to also include shades of purple.
Even when the researchers forewarned participants
that blue dots would become rarer and promised
them money if they kept their judgments consistent,
the same shift occurred.
And the team found similar results in
more complex versions of the task, where participants
had to judge whether a face was threatening
or if a research proposal was ethical.
When threatening faces became less common,
people started to consider previously benign
examples as posing a threat.
These results could explain why so many people
tend to be pessimistic about the state of the world.
As common problems become rare, previously
minor issues start to seem much more problematic.

Frozen x Tangled | For the First Time in Forever, When Will My Life Begin | Disney Mashups - Duration: 5:06.
The window is open, so's that door! I didn't know they did that anymore
Who knew we owned a thousand salad plates?
For years I've roamed these empty halls, why have a ballroom with no balls
Finally they're opening up the gates
There'll be actual real live people
It'll be totally strange
But wow am I so ready for this change
Cuz for the first time in forever
There'll be music, there'll be light
For the first time in forever
I'll be dancing through the night
I don't know if I'm elated or gassy
But I'm somewhere in that zone
Cuz for the first time in forever
I won't be alone!
7 am the usual morning lineup
Start on the chores and sweep til the floors all clean
Polish and wax, do laundry and mop and shine up
Sweep again and by then it's like 7:15
And so I'll read a book or maybe 2 or 3
I'll add a few new paintings to my gallery
I'll play guitar, and knit
and cook and basically
Just wonder when will my life begin
Tonight, imagine me suit and all, fetchingly draped against the wall
Then after lunch it's puzzles and dart and baking
The picture of sophisticated grace
Paper mache, a bit of ballet and chess
I suddenly see her standing there, a beautiful stranger tall and fair
Pottery and ventriloquy, candle-making
I wanna stuff some chocolate in my face
Take a climb, sew a dress!
And for the first time in forever (and I'll reread the books, if I have time to spare)
There'll be magic, there'll be fun (I'll paint the walls some more, I'm sure there's room somewhere)
For the first time in forever (and then I'll brush and brush and brush and brush my hair)
I could be noticed by someone (Stuck in the same place I've always been)
And I know it is totally crazy, to dream I'd find romance
Oh, heh
But for the first time in forever, at least I've got a chance
Tomorrow night
The lights will appear
Just like they do on my birthday each year
What is it like
Out there where they glow
Now that I'm older, Mother might just let me go
Just smell the grass, the dirt, just like I dreamed they'd be
Just feel that summer breeze, the way it's calling me
And for the first time in forever
I'm getting what I'm dreaming of
A chance to change my lonely world, a chance to find true love
I could go running and racing
And dancing and chasing
And leaping and bounding
Hair flying, heart pounding
And splashing and reeling, and finally feeling
That's when my life begins
For the first time in forever!

Developer Update | Introducing Wrecking Ball | Overwatch - Duration: 6:31.
Hero 28 is rolling into the lineup
in today's Developer Update.
I'm Jeff from the Overwatch team.
I'm very excited to introduce to you Wrecking Ball.
Now, you might be wondering who Wrecking Ball is,
so we should talk about the little guy's background a little bit.
So, on the Horizon Lunar Colony,
we already know that experimentation was happening with animals,
which led to our favorite talking gorilla Winston
being not only highly intelligent
but able to communicate with us human beings.
On the side, they were doing experimentation
with other animals as well,
and Hammond, who is a hamster,
ended up growing not only quite large,
but also gaining a lot of intelligence himself.
Now, when the apes of the Lunar Colony went crazy and revolted
and attacked the scientists there,
we know that Winston escaped.
But what we're going to learn is that Hammond hitched a ride
in an escape pod along with Winston
off of the moon.
Now, as they were hurtling towards planet Earth,
Hammond's pod broke off
and landed in a different location.
We know that Winston ended up landing at Watchpoint: Gibraltar,
where he set up his home base,
but Hammond landed on the outskirts of Junkertown in Australia.
Now, while this might have been an overwhelming challenge to some,
Hammond really embraced the moment
and he took it as an opportunity to modify his escape pod
into a devastating mech.
Now, nobody in Junkertown knew that Hammond was actually a hamster,
and he competed in the Queen's Gladiatorial Combat for some time,
actually winning numerous times,
unbeknownst to anybody that he was actually a hamster.
They just knew him as Wrecking Ball,
this devastating force
that could win the Gladiatorial Combat over and over again.
Now, Hammond is not a Junker and not part of the Junkers.
He had a lot of fun winning their championship over and over again.
He used his mechanical skills
to really modify that escape pod,
but now he's moved on
and he's sort of wandering the planet, doing fun things.
Now, there's certain things I should clarify for you.
Hammond cannot talk.
He does not speak English or any other language.
That would be completely ridiculous, as we all know.
However, the mech,
which he highly modified,
has communication abilities,
so he can speak, in essence, through the mech.
The mech itself has a minor AI in it that can also communicate.
So the mech is not an omnic,
and Hammond is not a Junker.
These are the most important things for you to know about his background
and his backstory.
Hammond is also good friends with Winston.
They are able to communicate to each other.
But Winston is not yet aware that Hammond has made his way back to the planet,
so that's going to be a bit of a surprise for everybody.
Now, what you're all wondering is, "What are Wrecking Ball's abilities?"
Wrecking Ball is a tank.
I think he's one of the most fun tank characters we've ever added to Overwatch.
The primary thing that he can do is shift into Ball Mode.
So not only can he be a quadruped tank,
shooting his quad cannons,
which are really devastating,
high rate of fire, high spread...
...big-impact guns that he has,
but he can switch into Ball Mode
and then roll around with devastating impact.
Now, while in Ball Mode,
he has a grappling hook that he can shoot out
and grasp onto things,
that allows him to swing all over the place
and really gain a lot of momentum.
For our highly skilled players,
you're going to find a lot of nuance and fun
in mastering this movement ability,
that will really get you into all sorts of unique situations.
Now, if you swing up really high in the air
and you use what would be the crouch button on any other character,
it will cause Wrecking Ball to go into his Piledriver move,
which sends him hurtling towards earth at a rapid speed,
and also doing a lot of devastating damage.
He also has an adaptive shield ability because he's a tank.
The way this works is, if you just press the adaptive shield,
you'll gain a minimum amount of shield every single time,
but if you do the adaptive shield while you're surrounded by more enemies,
you gain even more shield.
This really encourages Wrecking Ball to get into the fray,
get into the middle of the enemy team,
and then use that adaptive shield to be highly disruptive.
Now, his ultimate is a lot of fun.
It's what we call a zoning ability,
and it's Minefield.
So, when Wrecking Ball presses his ultimate,
it deploys a number of mines out in the area.
They take a little while to arm,
which gives people some time to get out of the way.
They're very visible and very audible to the enemy team,
but if the enemy team steps into the minefield,
well, devastating explosions happen.
Now, the intention for Wrecking Ball is for him to be a very disruptive,
high-mobility tank,
and we think he's a ton of fun to play.
We know that we have a lot of tank players,
and we also have a lot of players who haven't quite found the tank for them yet,
so we're hoping that Wrecking Ball brings a new element.
We also know how much you like our Horizon Lunar Colony lore,
the story, and characters like Winston,
and we wanted to introduce you to more characters from the Horizon Lunar Colony.
Plus, with his stint amongst the Junkers,
he also brings in a little bit of that Junker flair that you guys like so much.
So, all in all, we feel like Wrecking Ball
is a great addition to the Overwatch lineup.
He's really something different, he's really out there.
We think you'll have a ton of fun playing him.
We look forward to the great things that you're going to do playing Wrecking Ball.
Thank you.

Diagnosing Orthopedic Problems in Cats - Duration: 1:19.
Cats have many orthopedic problems just like dogs, but oftentimes it's much tougher to
diagnose them in cats because cats often don't limp like dogs.
When cats have lameness, they just stop doing some of the tasks that they normally do, such
as jumping or climbing.
And another sign would be just a stiff gait—they look like they're just getting old in other words.
When we're looking at cats, we're looking for things that are similar in dog joint problems,
such as arthritis.
In fact, one study showed that over 90% of cats have arthritis.
So, what that means is that many cats are suffering, but we don't really see the outward
signs, and so we have to go look for that, we have to have a high index of suspicion.
The most common joint that cats have arthritis in is the hip joint, and that's followed by
the stifle joint and the elbow joint.
So, if you have a cat that seemingly seems to be getting old or just isn't as active,
maybe won't jump up to that high spot or looks just stiff, I would start with radiographing
the hips, elbow, and the stifle, and see if you see evidence of arthritis.

Peter Fonda's New Film Nets Measly $30,000 After Actor's Perverted Attack on Barron Trump - Duration: 2:43.
Peter Fonda's New Film Nets Measly $30,000 After Actor's Perverted Attack on Barron
Trump.
For Hollywood money men, maybe there really is such a thing as bad publicity.
After aging Hollywood liberal Peter Fonda launched his name back into the headlines
last week with a vicious series of Twitter postings implying child rape of 12-year-old
Barron Trump and the sexual humiliation of a female Trump administration cabinet member
(among other evils), his new film hit movie screens in limited release to five theaters.
Judging by the box office take, keeping it limited might be a good idea.
According to the entertainment website The Wrap, Fonda's movie "Boundaries" generated
a measly $30,395 last weekend – and average screen earning of only $6,079.
When Fonda's heinous Twitter attacks became public – he deleted them quickly – Sony
Pictures clearly realized it had a potential debacle on its hands.
Having one of a movie's biggest names being associated in the public eye with calling
for the abduction of a White House press secretary's children isn't a good start for a word-of-mouth
campaign.
The company released a statement condemning Fonda's Twitter posts, but declared that
pulling the movie would "unfairly penalize the filmmaker Shana Feste's accomplishment,
the many actors, crew members and other creative talent that worked hard on the project."
Well, maybe having a limited-release box office take that amounts to a rounding error in a
typical Hollywood star's movie contract might be penalizing all that "creative talent"
too.
And commenters on social media had no problem finding the place to put the blame.
Of course, there's no way to definitely link the dismal turnout to Fonda's Twitter
outburst.
The movie might just be awful on its own.
Its reviews were tepid at best.
("Box office also-ran," The Observer put it.
But there's no denying that Fonda's obscene outburst put his own name back into the news
at a critical time for the release of his new movie.
And only the most outrageously on-the-fringe member of #TheResistance could have not been
repelled by what he was associated with.
(The Marquis de Sade would have approved, though.)
The old adage that "there's no such thing as bad publicity" might have been proven
wrong in the era of new media.
And Peter Fonda might have just proved it where it counts for Hollywood money men – at
the box office.

COCA-COLA or COKE | Draw My Life - Duration: 5:20.
Raise your hand if you have never had a Coca Cola!
Hmm nobody… right?
Coca Cola is more than a carbonated soft drink.
Let's find out about its story!
It all started on an 8th of May in 1886, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The pharmacist John Pemberton wanted to create a syrup for digestive problems that would
also give some energy at the same time, and he came up with the most famous secret formula
in the world.
Jacob's Pharmacy was the first one to sell it.
The cost was 5 cents per glass, and they would sell about 9 every day.
It didn't take long for Pemberton to realize the drink he had created could be a success.
His bookkepeer, Frank Robinson, was the one who came up with the brand and designed the
logo: Coca Cola had been born.
In 1981, another pharmacist, Asa (éisa) G. Candler, bought and registered the brand.
He founded the Coca Cola Company, with his brother John Candler and Frank Robinson.
This soft drink started to become popular, and in 1987, Coca Cola went outside the US.
Two years later, they signed the first agreement to bottle Coca Cola in all of the US.
Benjamin Thomas and Joseph Whitehead, two lawyers from Tennessee, convinced Candler
to give them the rights.
The bottling system established back then is still on nowadays.
Local companies are authorized to produce, distribute and sell the product.
Its basic preparation is provided by Coca Cola, in order to keep the recipe a secret.
During the early 20th century, there were, already, more than 400 Coca Cola bottling
plants in the US, Panama, Canada and Cuba.
This soft drink came to people through different bottling companies, and there started to be
more and more imitations.
The different bottles caused some confusion among the public.
This was why, in 1915, a contest took place to choose a single design for the bottle.
The winner was the one submited by Alexander Samuelsony.
It is, along with the Coca Cola logo, one of the most recognizable icons of the company.
They were looking for a bottle that could be recognized in any way: without the label,
in the dark, broken… and they clearly made it!
In 1919, Ernest Woodruff bought all Coca Cola's shares to the Candler family, and was able
to consolidate the business after WWI.
Coca Cola's advertising has always been a sign of distinction for the company, and
legends and myth have always been besides it.
In 1920, Santa Claus appeared for the first time in a Coca Cola ad, wearing red and white.
The advertising executives were trying to find a personification of the Christmas spirit
and Coca Cola's happiness.
Even tho lots of people think Santa Claus wears red in relation to Coca Cola, the Christmas
version of Saint Nicholas had already used those colors in several occasions in the past.
During the 20s, the first 6 bottle box was created.
It made transport and distribution of the soft drink easier.
At the end of this decade, the sale of bottles already surpassed that of soda distributors.
US soldiers were the ones who contributed to making this soft drink popular for everyone
during WWII.
In order to make transport easier, a new container was created, more resistant and easy to move:
the Coca Cola can.
Its success led to people still using it after the war.
The word Coke was registered as an official brand in 1945, after this name was already
popularized - it had been used in ads since 1941.
From its origins, it hasnt stopped expanding.
Nowadays, it has more than 24 million points of sale in 200 countries, they sell 1 thousand
and 9 hundred million units every day and it employs more than 71 thousand people.
Apart from Coca Cola, the company commercialises more than 500 brands and 3.500 different products.
Coca Cola had to move forward following people's taste, more worried as time goes by with the
consumption of harmful substances.
They have been adapting the brand, creating sugar free products or Light and Zero versions.
With more than 130 years of history, Coca Cola is considered to be the most valuable
brand in the world, and it's also the most famous one in the planet, recognised by 94%
of the world population.

Trump To Hire Former Fox News Executive Who Covered Up Network's Sexual Harassment Problems - Duration: 2:42.
When it comes to finding people to staff the Donald Trump White House, they've made it
clear that they have absolutely no problem scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel
in order to find people willing to take a position in their administration.
And the White House Communications Director position has been vacant for several months
now with Sarah Huckabee-Sanders kind of serving as the interim person in that position, even
though she doesn't want it.
But this all happened after Hope Hicks was fired or actually left the administration,
whatever she wants to call it, back in February of this year.
So now Donald Trump has come up with a new idea.
He has finally found someone that he believes can run that White House Communications Office
better than anyone.
And that person happens to be former Fox News executive Bill Shine.
Now, in case you're not familiar with Bill Shine, he was actually forced out of Fox News
last year after it was revealed that he was helping to cover up all of the sexual harassment
taking place at that network.
He was the guy at the top, the co-president, who told women to just let it go.
In fact, actually said to one woman that being sexually harassed while working for Fox "is
a necessary evil."
Basically told her like, "Yeah.
You're going to get sexually harassed, but you get a good job out of it, so what does
it matter, right?"
This man covered up some of the worst abuses committed by both executives and hosts at
that network, including Bill O'Reilly, who has fully endorsed Bill Shine for this White
House position.
And that's the kind of guy that the White House is reaching out to to run their communications
department.
As if we needed another window in for Fox News to get into this White House.
Donald Trump's already having pillow talk every night with Sean Hannity, calling Lou
Dobbs during meetings.
His son is dating one of the hosts of a Fox News show.
So why not just bring them all in to the administration?
"Oh, you covered up sexual harassment at your network for years?
You sound exactly like the kind of guy I want working for me."
And I'm sure that's the reasoning that Donald Trump has right now.
After all, this man has been accused by no fewer than 19 different women of a range of
abuses from sexual harassment to sexual assault.
So bringing in somebody who seems to specialize in covering that kind of stuff up makes perfect
sense for this absolutely disgusting administration.
