Star and Delta Connection - Explained | TheElectricalGuy - Duration: 8:45.
Star/wye connection and delta connection are the two different methods which are used for
connecting 3 phase system.
In this video, we'll learn in detail about star and delta connection.
We'll also know voltage and current relationship in both the connections, and where these connections
are used.
So, if you want to get the details, you need watch the video.
We have already seen the comparison between 1 phase and 3 phase power.
I'll strongly recommend you to watch that video.

In this video, we'll also have a look at power transmitted by these two types of connection,
and to get that stick to the video.
Connection shown in this figure is one of the way to connect 3 phase generator to the
load.
As you can see this connection requires 6 wires to connect.
The three-single phase circuit shown in this figure are electrically independent.
But if you observe the image carefully you'll find that, we can combine the three return
conductors together to form a single return conductor.
By doing this we have saved cost of two conductors as the number of conductor are reduced from
6 to 4.
That's a great saving...!
Now this common return conductor is called as neutral conductor.
It carries sum of three currents Ia + Ib + Ic.
At first, many of the people will think that, the conductor required for neutral should
be 3 times in the size than the other three conductors.
But, as we know, current of the three phases are out of phase by 120 deg from each other
and if we draw a waveform for these current it will look like this.
Now if you observe the diagram carefully you'll find that the sum of return currents is zero
at every instance.
For example, at instant corresponding to 240 deg, Ic = Imax and Ib = Ia = -0.5 Imax.
So, if we add these return currents, we'll get the sum =0, and this is true for every
instance.
We can therefore remove the neutral conductor without affecting the voltage or current in
the circuit.
So, we have reduced the number of conductors 6 which was the initial stage to 3.
50%saving in conductor cost!
However, the load shown in the circuit must be identical, if you want to remove the neutral
conductor.
If your load is not identical then removing neutral conductor can cause unequal voltages
across the loads.
So, in an ideal situation or in the situation where load is equal, current flowing through
neutral conductor is Zero.
And this is very commonly used question in technical interview.
The conditions where load is not equal a neutral must be provided.
You might have heard people saying 3.5 core cable, that 0.5 core is your neutral conductor.
The circuit shown in the figure is called as 3 phase 3 wire system.
The generator and the load are said to be connected in wye, as it resembles the letter
Y or some people also called it as STAR.
The figure shown is called as 3 phase 4 wire system.
The neutral conductor can be of similar size or may be slightly smaller than the other
conductors.
3 phase 4 wire system is widely used to supply power to commercial and industrial customers.
Now when we talk about star connected three phase system, there come two concepts, line
to line voltage and line to neutral voltage.
The voltage between A and N is called as line to neutral voltage, similarly voltage between
A and B is called as line to line voltage.
Relation between these voltages as well as current changes with the type of connection.
So, it is important to understand these relationships for different connections.
In case of star connected system
Line to line current are equal to line to neutral current
But in case of
voltage it is different
Consider, the winding shown in this figure
which is connected in star
As you can see
the conductors are placed 120 deg apart from each other
so, if you apply Kirchhoff's voltage law
to this circuit and by doing some mathematics
you'll find that
the line to line voltage is therefore root 3 times the
line to neutral voltage
the other way to connect three phase system is called as delta connection.
The connection is so named because it resembles the greek letter delta.
Let have a look at the voltage and currents relationship in delta connection.
Now in case of delta connection, voltage across each connection is same as line voltage.
But, in case of current, current across each element is different than the line current.
If you apply the Kirchhoff's law and do some math, you'll find that the line current
is root 3 times greater than the current in each branch of delta connected system.
Generally, star connection is used where you need a neutral and two separate voltages,
like our distribution system.
Delta connection is generally preferred where neutral conductor is not needed like for transmission
of high voltage power.
Also, delta connection is preferred where 3rd harmonics needs to controlled.
Star and delta connections are almost used everywhere when we talk about 3 phase system.
You'll generally find 3 phase transformer connected in different combinations of star
and delta connection.
For example, star – star connected transformer is generally used as an auto transformer.
Delta – delta connected transformer is generally used for high voltage transmission.
Delta – star connected transformer is generally used as a distribution transformer.
Now, as we have studied the star & delta connection, a question can pop up, power transferred by
a star connection and power transfer by a delta connection is same or different?
So, let's find that out.
Consider the star connected winding first.
Apparent power transferred by a single phase is given by.
This is the power transferred by a single phase.
To calculate the power transferred by 3 phase we can multiply this equation by 3.
Similarly, Apparent power transferred by a single phase of delta connection is given
by.
Multiply this equation to calculate power transferred by 3 phase, and you'll get the
same result as star connection.
And, this proves power transmitted by both the connection is same.
So, let's summarize this video.
3 phase system can be connected in two different styles star or delta.
In star connection, line to line current is equal to line to neutral current.
But, line to line voltage is root 3 times the line to neutral voltage.
In delta connection, voltage across each element is equal to line voltage.

Don't Follow Your Heart – Here's a really good reason why! - Duration: 3:36.
"Follow your heart."
We hear it all the time, and it sounds nice… but is it actually good advice?
When it comes to making decisions like, "Is he or she right for me," "Should I buy
this new thing," or "How should I respond to what they just said," following your
heart is a good way to make a bad decision.
Here's why, think about it.
What does your heart want?
Your heart wants what makes you feel good.
It wants, what brings you the most happiness, the most satisfaction in that moment.
That sounds good, right?
Wrong!
The problem is, the moment ends, and as a result our feelings change.
What feels good now, could make us feel horrible tomorrow... or even sooner.
Remember, our hearts only tell us what we want to hear.
It expresses our desires and our felt needs.
When we ignore our intellect and intuition, which is where we get the phrases, "Use
your head" and "Trust your gut," and instead just follow our heart... our feelings
will not only lead to frustration, but they lead us to do things that are foolish, and
hurtful.
Things the Bible calls sin.
Jesus warns against following our heart's when he said: "For from within, out of the
heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness,
deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.
All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."
It doesn't take a long look around to see the damage people have done to their lives
and to others by, following their heart.
Marriages and families are destroyed.
Addictions run rampant.
The value of life, along with the feelings, opinions and wellbeing of others are at best
seen as less than, and at worse seen as an enemy that needs to be trammeled over in the
pursuit of our wants and desires.
Jerimiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who
can understand it?"
While we have trouble understanding our hearts, God does not.
He knows our needs, He knows our situations, and He knows the path we should take that
doesn't lead just momentary happiness and satisfaction, but to lasting joy and peace.
Proverbs 3:3-5 tell us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your
own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Yes, your feelings are important, but they alone can't be trusted.
God has given you your heart, your intellect, and your intuition, all three are key to making
a rational decision.
It doesn't end there though, God has also given you the Bible to learn the truth.
He's given you His Son, Jesus Christ to be your example of the truth lived out, and
for believers, He's given you His Spirit, to lead you, and straighten you in the truth.
So no, don't "Follow your heart," that is a terrible way to make decisions, and it
is a selfish and shortsighted way to live!
Instead, use all the gifts God has given you, to make rational, God honoring decisions.
When you follow, "the way the truth and the life," Jesus offers, you will never
be led wrong.

Arsenal transfer news BBC Sport man reveals one player who is signing new deal ● News Now ● #AFC - Duration: 2:01.
Arsenal will tie down defender Calum Chambers to a new four-year deal, according to BBC
Sport's David Ornstein.
The former Southampton star found regular gametime hard to come by under Arsene Wenger
after his St. Mary's exit.
Chambers was loaned out to Middlesbrough back in 2016 but returned to the Emirates last
term to play a bit-part role in Arsenal's poor domestic season.
However, according to Ornstein, new boss Unai Emery sees the 23-year-old as a key part of
his long-term plans.
"Calum Chambers will today sign a new 4yr contract with Arsenal to keep him there until
2022," he tweeted.
"Only signed 2yr extension in Oct 2017 that tied him down until 2021 but new head coach
Unai Emery sees huge potential in 23yo + wants him to compete for starting berth at centre-back."
Chambers arrived in north London from Southampton for £16m back in 2014.
The versatile defender only made 48 appearances for the club under Wenger.
Arsenal have already added a new defender to their ranks in the form of Juventus defender
Stephan Lichtsteiner.
The Swiss star has joined on a free transfer after seven years with the Italian giants.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are close to announcing a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Sokratis
Papastathopoulos.
The Greek international will join Arsenal next week.

looks amazing and much younger than her actual age."
That is true.
She does.
"Younes loves being with an older woman," the source continues, treading on dangerous
waters.
We cannot imagine that Kourtney, who was snubbed by Maxim this summer, loves being characterized
as an older woman .
Even though that is, you know, technically correct.
The insider describes how Younes gets so much joy from their sex life "because Kourtney
is more experienced."
Of course.
She's been at it longer.
The source says that Kourtney is sex-savvy "and more comfortable with her body than any
other woman he has ever been intimate with."
That makes sense.
In our sex negative society, a lot of younger folks may be insecure about having sex at
all, or be too overwhelmed by hang-ups and body issues to be at their best.
With time, that discomfort with owning your sexuality can go away.

The source says that they really complement each other, "and it's fireworks every time

Well, there's no reason to joke about it.
Kourtney is older.
She'll be 40 in under a year.
Many would say that she qualifies as a cougar.

She's definitely hot.
And she's definitely a mom to Mason, Penelope, and Reign.
That whole motherhood angle, to be clear, makes her a MILF rather than a cougar.
But let's not split hairs.

insider says, adding that qualifier.
Children can be wonderful, of course, but sometimes you need some alone time.
Especially when you're two unreasonably attractive people who know how to sex it up.

in Capri.
Capri is perhaps the most beautiful place on the planet.

Unfortunately, it looks like someone has been trying to spoil their good time.
Who else would try to rain all over Kourtney's parade than her ex, Scott Disick?
A source reveals: "Scott is doing his best to ruin her vacation by sending her mean text

That is awful!
And totally uncalled for.

Some people will do anything out of spite.
That's sad.

welcome to this week's vlog on this week's vlog we're going to be discussing
electric car insurance do you need special insurance for electric car how
do you get the cheapest price

so if you like saving money like me and you're a
little bit tight and you try and get the best deal as you possibly can which
probably most of you are if you drive an electric car even if you just drive it
for ECO reasons like me you also like saving money it's a win situation with
electric cars it's a double win for me and car insurance is one of the big
grips we're trying to get a good deal these days in the electric car sometimes
it can be quite difficult with certain insurance companies excluding electric
vehicles and other ones not including battery lease systems and not
understanding the battery lease it was time for me to this year do a little bit
more of an in-depth video on how to get the best deal on your electric car
insurance now I did the normal website comparison stuff as always so I did my
moneySuperMarket check for the best price I possibly could put my reg details
in and it fired out a price now non-protected no claims don't forget
there's two drivers on here Laura's the main driver of the car so
the insurance is in Laura's name i drive vehicles under the trade
insurance but I have to be covered personally for Laura's car there's two
drivers on the policy Laura's a young driver she only got five years driving
experience in five years no claims the price did was £429
as you can see there the price for a non-protected policy
protecting your no claims dropped to £408 there's a little
bit of an excess there with more> than which isn't great now i also had a
renewal quote from quote me happy which was £350 but a
much higher voluntary access on that policy these are high prices in my mind
for an electric car driver electric car drivers we tend to be slower drivers we
drive more economically and we don't tend to have any boy racers by driving
Electric cars yet because they don't make the RS Zoe
but that's another discussion altogether but that we'd drive better so surely
there's a company out there that would provide insurance for us so spent some
time looking for brokers that specialize with schemes for electric cars tried
tried one broker their price was a little bit high it was six seven hundred
pound but I'm not going to mention who it was but it was they were dear
they were dearer than all the other things it was a specialist insurance for
EV cars so you know I was moving on to at least someone who understood
electric cars but I was surprised why it was so much did some more digging around
and came across a company called pluginsure
so I thought yeah they've even got a name for doing electric car insurance
great the other company was just a normal running name not like I said not
going to mention them but pluginsure proper name for electric cars actually
seem to be actively trying to get electric car customers their quote was
well quite a bit cheaper they came back at £296 headers like - yeah £296.37
protected protected now like I said Laura Laura only been
driving five years she's a much younger model than me I was a lucky bugger
um but yeah Laura's much younger than me so she's not got was driving
expensive to get price under £300 with a young driver on on the policy
it's fantastic now I put a link to them down in the description below and I've also
put a number they have an online quote system which is pretty much the
price I've got there is the price it gave me on the online system they also
rang them because it's called a quick quote quick quote so I wasn't sure if it
was just an estimate quote but I thought it would be wrong it under £300
seems too cheap so I rang them spoke to me said no that is the price
they ran a full quote with me and that's the price i got it's a small small firm
there's not a lot there's not a lot of employees definitely put onto the phone
pretty quickly seem very efficient they seems to be running for quite some time
I did some more digging to some other people I know who've got it I've had leaf
owners and i3 owners run some comparison tests and they all said it's
cheaper than what they were getting off off of a insurance company so if you've
got a Nissan Leaf or a Renault Zoe or a BMW i3 or any other electric car give
them a call try and get a quote obviously hybrids and stuff like that
give them a quote see what they come back with and let me know what let me
know in the comments below were they cheaper than you current
insurers have you gone with them have you heard of them before have you used
them before are you already a customer of them a bit and just let us know in
the comments below I'm really really interested even if you'd not with them
you've got other insurance quotes let me know what you're paying around the
market but pluginsure seem to be the cheapest they seem to specialise
electric cars they are a proper FCA regulated company they're using a major
underwriter for the insurance and it's a scheme set off electric car drivers so
thumbs up for me from them they seem to do a really really good job of getting
