Today, I want to talk to you about how to feel happy more often in your business and
how you can sustain a very content and positive outlook in your business so that you don't
get into the dreaded funk.
You know what that's like?
Why don't you just don't feel like it?
You feel overwhelmed.
You might even procrastinate.
You might cry, you might feel sad.
You might be fearful and afraid and you don't really know why.
It sucks.
I mean, it's just.
It's just so ridiculous, right?
You just can't do it no more.
You're just like, screw this.
How do we pull ourselves out of these stages of depression, of just not feeling good?
Maybe something unexpected happened to you in business or for your personal life.
Maybe you tried to do something and it didn't work out for you.
Maybe somebody said something to you.
Maybe you have been pushing and trying and stressing and working hard for a long time
and you feel depleted and drained.
You know what?
All of that is normal and as your business grows, things don't get easier.
You become better, right?
They always say that and it's true.
Over the last 10 years I've grown my business so so much, but I had my ups and downs.
I had people leave my team.
I had people steal from my company.
I had clients ask for refunds.
I had legal issues.
I had planned big events and big webinars and big projects and sometimes they were successful,
but sometimes they were not.
There are things that will happen in your business and in your career that you cannot
predict, so you need to over time develop a mental strength and a mental process and
some habits that support you so that you can feel happy and you can feel you know, positive
and forward looking with a good attitude as often as possible.
So today I want to give you my top four ways to keep myself in the best mindset possible
so that I can be inspirational for my team, inspirational for my clients, people that
are watching me on YouTube, just like you right now, and myself and my family too because
my family deserves it.
I deserve it.
You deserve it and there are ways that you can help yourself feel better and do more
immediately, so let's dig in.
The first thing you need to do is step outside of yourself.
Whenever I feel down and I'm in a funk, I try to step outside of myself and look at
myself as if or as though I am a subject, as though I am an object and I'm trying to
analyze the entire situation.
And that's sometimes easier said than done and I get it, but trust me, it's your first
step towards getting yourself out of your funk.
When you step outside of yourself, you want to really look at your thoughts and look at
your behavior in a very objective way and ask yourself, is it really that bad?
What really happened?
Is it life or death?
What are the consequences?
Is it your mind going in circles?
Is it your mind going crazy with fears and you know what if this happened and what if
they do this or what if this happens to me and there's actually nothing happening right
now that is any threat to you.
If that's the case, then you know that you're making things up in your mind and it's just
fear playing a game with you, so let yourself off the hook and say, Hey, you know what?
It's not that bad.
I'm not homeless.
I have a roof over my head.
I have food on the table.
I have clients in my business potentially I have an amazing family.
I have a wonderful pet.
I have an amazing team that's on my side.
I have myself and I have my thoughts and my wisdom.
I have my intuition.
I have my ideas and there's always something I can do.
I can always find the way, and when you release and you relax into it, I bet that's when you
will have some ideas to get yourself out of your funk, you know, to get yourself out of
your stuckness because when you're in the funk and when you have all these negative
thoughts and emotions happening, nothing will come to you.
Creativity is blocked, but when you step away from it, you step outside of yourself.
You relax and you release it.
Then new ideas will come.
Then you will calm down and that's your first step towards feeling better and getting out
of your funk.
Step number two is to ask yourself if you can control it.
Is what's making you mad or making you upset or depressed right now, something you can
actually control or is it something in your external environment that somebody has done
to you or something's happening in the economy or something is happening in politics or something
outside of you and what you can control and is it really worth getting so upset about
that?
When you ask yourself what you should really worry about, it's only the things you can
control because everything else is not under your control, of course, so why would you
make such a big deal of it?
When you realize that you can't control other people and it's none of your business, what
they say or how they act or what they think, whether they work with you, whether they're
on your team, whether they even like you.
This is all their business.
It really lets you off the hook because then the only thing you have to worry about is
doing the right thing, being of service, but pleasing yourself first and foremost because
you can only control the way you act, think and feel, and it's actually a really great
thing because then you can go out and you can face the world knowing that people's actions
and what they say and what they think is their responsibility and it's on them to decide
and it's none of your business and you don't have to worry about it.
A couple of months ago in my business, we had a pretty big shock happening where a core
team member left my business and we were not prepared for that to happen and it actually
had a big impact and it led me to feel personally attacked.
It led me to feel betrayed because that person that left my team was actually a friend as
well.
And a lot of times that happens on teams especially, you know, those modern teams that we nowadays
have where we are so close and we work together on a mission that we all share.
So when that happened to me for the first time in a very long time, it took me almost
a week to get out of my funk because I felt down.
I felt like I can't do this no more.
What did I do wrong?
Why did this happen to me?
How could this happen to me?
How could I not see this?
Why did this person do that to me?
All of these thoughts, right?
And I felt like I don't want to see anyone.
I don't want to do any YouTube episodes.
I don't want to go on Facebook.
I don't even want to coach my clients, and that's okay.
Have some compassion with yourself, but give yourself a time limit and after a week at
the most, pull yourself back out because you have important things to do.
You have a business to grow, you have a family to care for, you have yourself and you only
have one life and you deserve to be happy.
Step number three is to trust in spirit.
I personally have a very strong spiritual side to me as well, and I know that my actions
alone or my forcing things alone will not get me to where I really want to go.
I always have the universe on my side.
I have God.
I have spirit, whatever you want to call it.
There is a bigger power out there that I believe in that guides us, that loves us, and that
helps us accomplish our goals.
And I also believe that life happens for you and not to you.
Whatever happens, there is a reason for it.
So when you look at what might have happened to you and why you're feeling down right now,
what if you're experiencing this to learn a lesson?
What if you're experiencing this right now because you need to redirect your focus.
What if somebody is leaving your life right now because you need a space for someone new
to come in your life, right?
One door closes, another door opens, so everything that you experienced in life is actually a
lesson, and when I'm looking back over the last couple of years, I can honestly say that
I have failed my way to success.
I try to do something and it didn't work out so well.
Then I learned something and then I tried it again and it worked better.
When you're able to look at everything and say, this is a lesson for me and I can learn
something from it, and this is there for me to grow in my emotional maturity and my professionalism
and how much I can actually handle and I have to go through this right now, in order for
me to become the person that can have the success I want to have, then maybe just maybe
you can embrace the challenges that are in front of you.
Maybe you can embrace and welcome the issues, the problems, and the struggle and say it
is here for a reason.
I'm moving through it, but I'm not alone.
There is God, there is spirit.
There's the universe.
There's more than me that wants me to succeed and the universe is on my side.
It has my back and I don't have to do it all alone.
Step number four is to choose better feeling thoughts.
Believe it or not, you can actually choose your thoughts.
You are in control of your brain and your mind and you can decide what you want to think
if you can catch yourself thinking thoughts that don't serve you.
So let's say for example, right now you're looking at scarcity and lack of money and
you feel that there's not enough money.
Your business is not generating enough income.
You're not sure how to pay for your expenses and you're not sure if you will ever be profitable.
You might think, there's not enough money.
I can't get clients.
I'm not good at marketing.
I'm afraid of being visible.
My mindset is bad.
Nobody wants me, nobody likes me.
There is a snowball effect happening in your mind of thoughts that are going deeper and
deeper into this, not feeling, not good feeling space, right?
Take a moment right now and think about your thoughts.
That sounds funny, but really listen to your thoughts and what you're thinking.
Are those thoughts positive and helping you feel better, or are those thoughts actually
making you feel even worse and what you can do is consciously choose better feeling thoughts,
and this has been one of the most impactful things I've done for myself.
It takes a little bit of time and it takes some practice and you know, it takes some
applying yourself to really figure this out, but once you know how to do this, it's the
most impactful and powerful thing you can do for yourself and you can do it at any point
in time because even right now that you're watching this video, you can stop the video
and choose better feeling thoughts.
Write down the thoughts you're thinking right now.
What's going on in your mind?
What's that disc that's playing over and over again, and let's create a better disc for
you, let's create some better feeling thoughts for you.
So instead of saying, you know, I don't have any money and money is hard for me to make
and I don't have clients and clients are not coming and nobody wants to pay me.
Say money is relatively easy for me to make.
I could come up with a new marketing campaign to make more money.
I could get another job to make more money.
I used to have money in the past.
There's no reason why I cannot make more money in the future and then feel your way through
it.
Don't you already feel better thinking about the money in the possibility of it, so choose
better feeling thoughts and with that, you will move yourself into a space where you
can be creative and have no ideas and move yourself out of your funk.
