Kirsty: Hi everybody, I'm Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails and in this video,
I am going to react to my video because it was so great and I did so well.
But the reason we're doing this is because you have asked for it, so here we go.
Okay so, I'm gonna hit play.
Kirsty: This is weird, me watching me?
I've purposely not watched this video, just so I can do this video for you.
Adam: Do you normally to just skip through the video or? Go on have a dance. Go on.
Kirsty: It was the only thing we could find.
Kirsty: It was the only thing we could do... Adam: We had that or a pair of pants or something.
Kirsty: Yeah! I didn't wanted to put Adam's pants on my head.
Adam: She's a bit harsh, ain't she? Kirsty: I watched it again the other day, you know...with Fay.
Adam: Oh, really? Kirsty: With Fay, yeah. She liked it.
Kirsty: Honest to God, I felt like I had no sense of anything at this point.
And at this point, I'm actually realising how difficult this is going to be
and thinking I needed to plan this a little bit better.
Adam: You did sort of tidied your desk a little bit. Kirsty: A little bit?
Adam: I can't believe you didn't get the Acetone straight off. Kirsty: I think I might be immune...
Kirsty: I think I'm totally immune to everything clearly, but...
See I remember smelling that. I felt like everything was a bit further away from me.
Adam: You took a few attempts that.
Kirsty: I thought it was the tiniest amount in. Adam: Well, you put loads in.
Kirsty: I honestly thought that it was the tiniest amount in. Adam: Is it bad for you if you doppelgänger's your finger in Monomer.
Kirsty: Yeah, really. I'm not supposed to make contact with the skin really, with the Monomer.
[Video continues playing at the background]
Kirsty: Allycia has watched it as well. My 13-year old daughter has watched it.
She was not even my presence when she watched it. She was at her granddad's. Naughty granddad.
She asked me if this would actually ever happen.
I did tell her it was a fictional thing, nothing really happened.
That bit where they say somebody has to look though. Oh my God!
It's horrible and the little girl, she's like...Oh, it's just horrible.
I did realise at this point I needed a short pot because all my covered powders,
all those sort of beige colours are in short pots.
Adam: What do you like about Natural Beige so much? Kirsty: I just think it's a really nice tone. It matches a lot of people skin tone and
Kirsty: ...it covers really well. It's really pigmented.
I mean, like running my fingers across the brush, that's not recommended.
I'm transferring oils from my skin onto my brush.
Clearly not!
Kirsty: I was so nervous about doing this. Adam: You were trying to delay.
Kirsty: I am really stalling.
Adam: But that's not bad.
Kirsty: Look how I go straight through it though.
Adam: I thought you started so well there. Kirsty: It's not that bad.
Adam: You just didn't realise how big the bead was. Kirsty: I don't understand how I went so wrong because this isn't that...
Kirsty: ...well, maybe, okay, I honestly thought there was some product coming down the tip with me.
So, how did I get it so bad?
Adam: Not terrible.
Kirsty: Not bad.
Not bad! The ratio is quite, you know, it's alright. So, how did I end up with a nail that looked like a piece of chewing gum?
Okay! So now,
I might be able to see why it's going wrong here.
Why have I put it in the same place because I felt like I had felt the nail?
And I knew where it was gonna go. I honestly thought I knew where it was gonna go.
Definitely shouldn't have had the lid to the butterfly Dampen Dish. Should not have had it.
What is that?!
Of course, it's exactly the same place! Oh, this is the driest bead ever!
What the hell?
Adam: I don't know how it was dry because there was so much liquid in that brush.
Kirsty: I've gone in at the wrong angle and I was trying to like, position my powder so I can visualise where it was
and I was just gonna press into it nicely and pick up this beautiful bead but...
What is that? Looks like a snowball.
Oh my God, that's horrific!
Kirsty Meakin what are you doing?
Yeah, I did do a bit of manipulation with the old finger.
Adam: If that's what you wanna call it. Bodge.
Kirsty: Look at my brush.
It looks like a little owl at the minute. Like it's got a head
Kirsty: And a body bit like an owl. Adam: You said you wanted do some animal nails.
Kirsty: Oh yeah, but not like that. Like really pretty. It looks like it's got a wing and everything.
Oh, what! Look, right! So, this is how you...oh, where God? It's going the same place again.
I honestly thought it was down here. I thought it was down here, clearly behind my brush.
Now, I do know that Sandra Bullock actually wore a finer
piece of fabric around her eyes when they went down the river.
Adam: Mm-hmm! Kirsty: And obviously, I know it's not real but she did have to do a lot of the filming with the blindfold on.
Kirsty: So, she could see a little bit.
The mix is definitely all to cock.
Oh my God!
See, if I did it in Acrygel, I could have probably just molded the whole thing with my finger.
It did not feel as big. I promise you, it didn't feel like it looks.
Adam: We actually measured it on another video but I don't think I put it in and it was...was it 11? Kirsty: 7.
Kirsty: No! It's 7ml. Adam: 7ml.
Kirsty: It was 7ml.
So, it was like that thick.
Adam: Mm-hmm! You put nose in it.
Adam: It does look like a pig's ear actually. Kirsty: It does, yeah and not pretty pig.
Kirsty: I just felt like I got a little dip not a big gaping hole inside of there.
Oh! That's the wrong Dampen Dish.
And I was always trying to feel like because the brush is pinched, how...
because I want to go in at certain...oh my God! What am I doing?
I wanted to go in at a certain angle and clearly it wasn't...
because I want the brush to be flat when I go in, not like this.
It's what I mean! What?!
Adam: Some other people said chicken fillets.
Kirsty: Oh my God! It does. Adam: Like a bag of chicken fillets.
Kirsty: It looks like a bag of chicken fillets.
Now, I've just gone in the lid. I went into the...what the hell? It's so bad.
My first nail was bad but I will tell you this, it was not as bad as this.
I don't know. I don't notice the Monomer smell at all.
I think I'm slightly cheating now with my fingers and the powder and just giving it a bit of a,
you know, just mushing it it around. And I wondered why my fingers where absolutely covered in acrylic.
I can now see why.
Kirsty: I'm so glad I didn't have a nice full set on. Adam: Yeah. That's probably a good idea.
Kirsty: Because Imagine if I had this gorgeous full set on that took me four hours to do and then I thrashed them.
I was really concerned and trying to figure out where there would still be exposed tip. What the hell?
Totally not the Monomer.
Totally not, just clean your brush there, Kirsty. I think you need to rewind and get that cleaned.
I think I definitely need to just get the e-file. I definitely need to get the e-file on this.
However yeah, I don't think I would have had any fingers left.
Adam: So, that would have definitely got us demonetised.
Kirsty: Yeah.
Kirsty: Yeah! Because people are doing silly challenges, aren't they? Adam: Yeah.
Adam: But at least, that would have been a good reason to demonetise us. Kirsty: Yeah.
Kirsty: What am I doing? Adam: Looking for a file. I don't know how you found it and all that.
Kirsty: I forgot I did that.
What a mess!
Kirsty: And I thought I was doing a pretty good job with this.
I was quite confident till I saw the finished result.
Adam: That's what most people would do. Kirsty: I know.
Kirsty: Yeah, I don't think...no amount of filing, even with the 100-grit file, would save that nail.
See now, Natural Beige blends really well. You pick up a bead and when you put another bead on top of it,
you don't get those lines from where you put bead after bead after bead on but clearly,
my ratio was far too dry because you can just see the lines of the beads of where they were and it's awful.
Adam: Do you think that's because you were... Kirsty: Blinfolded. Blinfolded, yeah.
Kirsty: Because I was blindfolded that.
Adam: No because your brush was soaked with Monomer, do you think you left the brush in the powder too long...
Kirsty: Yeah Adam: ...and it just soaked in them.
Kirsty: And I've sort of went too low because I couldn't judge where the level of the powder was,
so instead of sitting on the top, I went into the powder.
So then, all this bit here...imagine this is a brush, all this bit was dry because it wasn't getting enough Monomer.
Whereas, this bit would have got enough Monomer, but this bit because it was on top of the brush,
Kirsty: ...wouldn't have got enough Monomer. Adam: Mmm!
Kirsty: Because the bead isn't supposed to be on top of the brush, it's supposed to be underneath the brush.
Oh God, my eyes! They were watery. I felt like my eyelashes were just like glued to my face.
I was just filing that because I was putting that much pressure on the nail.
Obviously, it couldn't quite take it and just flung off.
How could I forgot to re-glue it back on?
Adam: This was painful to watch.
Kirsty: Yeah, I could feel the dip.
Kirsty: But then I was like... Adam: You were kind of trying to press it in where there was no glue.
Kirsty: Yeah, I've put it glue at the bottom and then, I'm trying to glue it to the top.
Adam: This is regret. Kirsty: Well, yeah. I mean, I think I'm totally...my street cred,
...you know, for being a good nail artist definitely had gone down the drain.
You do, do you?
Adam: You could have been there all day and still not get it to the point where you need to topcoat it.
Kirsty: No, I don't think it ever would have been nice at all because...
I needed like to just get the chainsaw at it or something.
I think it's like muscle-memory with the filing.
However, I'm not used to filing nails that are like this.
Kirsty, that's happened because you've put the beads in completely the wrong places.
That I'm using the file and my hand like this now, to really try and file it down.
Look at my face.
Adam: I was just waiting where you gonna stab yourself with something at this point.
Adam: Do you want me to guide you? No! Kirsty: I said no and then I go, "Hmm! Actually, I might need a bit of help here."
Where's it gone?
Adam: Alright! You did find it again.
Kirsty: I was thinking how did I find that. When it went all the way *noise*
Kirsty: Because that means there's still quite apparent that this whole thing is still Kirsty.
I don't think the buffer...the buffer is not gonna save it.
Kirsty: Oh God, I'm going to hot glue it again aren't I?
Adam: you did glue the stand this time. Kirsty: Yeah! I mean, how much glue do you want to put on the stand?
Kirsty: Oh!
How did I not knock it over?
Adam: I love how I said acrylic even though you were blindfolded. How you would know acrylic. Kirsty: I know, yeah.
Adam: I'm not very good at that kind of guiding people.
Kirsty: My God! This literally craters in it?
I think the surface of the Moon is actually smoother than that nail.
Adam: I don't even have enough topcoat here. Kirsty: I know!
Adam: You're wiping that quite a lot, aren't you?
Kirsty: Yeah, I was going and going because I was trying to make sure I covered the entire nail.
What?!
And look how firm I'm doing it as well. I shouldn't be doing it that firm.
Oh my God, this is atrocious!
What about this side?
Please, don't judge me.
Oh God, It did. Had gel on my hand, obviously from where I've been painting,
I put it in the lamp and it just heated up like that.
Oh no! What a mess.
I honestly don't...what is this?
And I kept feeling it, I couldn't find it. I couldn't find it.
Now, I know where that comes from because I saw the bead, I saw it like, when I pressed it so hard,
it kind of split in two and it just went on to the table.
I need to do a tighter shot than this because that's that's so messy.
I was so shocked, honest to God. And I did not understand how that had even happened.
Look at my eyes.
Kirsty: Honestly? Adam: You sounded like Fay there. "What is that?
Kirsty: I honestly did not expect it to be as bad as it was. I don't know why. I didn't feel that huge.
By far!
Kirsty: I should have counted the beads as I did it and not put that much. Adam: I think it was eleven in total.
Kirsty: Yeah, epic fail.
Adam: Was that satisfying? Peeling that off though. Kirsty: Yeah, was nice.
Kirsty: Bit of top coat just... Don't recommend it because it burned when it went into the lamp. Wasn't nice.
Kirsty: Has anybody tried it? I want to see other people's now.
Kirsty: I need to see other people's. Adam: Somebody messaged us on Instagram. Somebody did on Instagram.
Kirsty: Who was that though? Adam: I don't know.
Kirsty: I need to have a look and check everybody's out because that was just awful.
This should be re-titled "How not to do nails by Kirsty Meakin".
Oh my God!
Oh dear!
Right! So yeah, I can see now see all my mistakes that I did.
Yeah, and I hope you can learn from that video of what not to do.
Adam: One of the most popular comments was, "Oh my God! You could do nails as good as I can with a blindfold".
Kirsty: Well, if that's you, you need to try a little bit harder. Maybe practice a bit more.
But like I said, you know, we'll make this educational. I can see my mistakes.
I did too many beads, put them in the same place many a time. I picked up the wrong ratio.
I got the product on the wrong side of the brush, which made it all dry and horrible.
And yeah, I hope that helps you to do nails better than I did.
Keep watching. The next video is coming. Don't forget to subscribe. See you later, guys.
Bye-bye!
