Hello everyone and welcome to my channel
My name is Milé Rubio
and in today's video I'm going to talk about a place
that I'm obsess with
It has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl
and I'm talking about Cambodia- Angkor Wat
I remember the first time I saw this place
I was 11 or 12 years old
was in a TV show from the History Channel
that is called Life after people.
When I saw that tree coming through that building
I said to myself " One day I will go to visit this place"
Thank God, I had the chance to go last year
It was a unbelievable experience
for me that I love the architecture, archaeology and history .
Definitely, Cambodia and Angkor Wat will make your feel like a real Indiana Jones .
If you are planning to go or have curiosity about this wonderful place
I am going to talk about a bit of history
some experiences and advice for you to plan your trip.
so let's get started!!
Angkor Wat is considered the largest religious monument in the world
It has 162 hectares.... It's massive.
It was build in the 12th century by the Khmer Empire
It was originally constructed as a Hindu temple of god Vishnu
but gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple.
It was abandoned in the 17th century
because of social problems in the country at the time.
It was until the 19th century that a french Naturalist
was visiting Cambodia and accidentally he discovered
the monuments in bad conditions while walking in the middle of the jungle
All the buildings were consumed by nature.
He decided to come back to the civilization and tell everyone about his discovery
Since then, it became an important tourist place
and also the main focus of restoration and preservation
The rumors said that there are still a lot of monuments to be found
because of the massive jungle.
If you love History, in here you will see unique details in
every single columns and walls tells a story from that time
Every single wall and details are unique and that is what makes it spectacular.
When you go to Angkor Wat
You will arrive to an international airport
It may be Phnom Penh that is the Capital or to Sihanoukville
Also ( I'm not sure about it) to Siem Reap
"SIEM REAP IT HAS AN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT"
From Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville you will have to take a bus
that is the cheapest way
I believed cost 8 USD and it is like 8 hours of travel
You won't arrive to Angkor Wat directly
Siem Rie is the city that you will stay and
from there to Angkor Wat is about 5 Kilometer
You have the option to get around in a tuk tuk
rent a car or bicycle
I do really recommend to make friends with the tuk tuk driver
our driver was really nice and helpful
and offered us to take us around the temples the next day
for 18 USD a day for both of us.
When you go to visit Angkor Wat, you have to pay to enter the area
every time you go inside a monument, there is someone checking for the ticket
They have different prices
1 day cost 37 USD, 3 days 62 USD and 7 days 72 USD
We arrived the first day at noon, and just visited around the city ( Siem Reap)
The next day, our driver picked us up pretty early, around 4 am
to go to see the sunrise
When We get there, I felt that the monument looked smaller that what I had in my mind
from the pictures of people and videos that I watched before the trip.
at the end it has a medium size ... It is smaller from what I had in mind, but still amazing .
The sunrise was wonderful, but again so different from those videos and photos
That day was cloudy and the sunrise wasn't as in the pictures
but still an unique experience for us.
At that time, there is a lot of people trying to catch the best shoot
One big recommendation is that in Asia, it has an especific dress code
when you go to visit religious places
If you haven't watch my video about if you are a tourist or a traveler
LINK IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX
I suggest to go to watch it so you don't make the same mistakes
The idea is to dress with comfortable and fresh clothes
because it is so hot out there
Another recommendation is that before traveling
do your research and print or buy the places and history you are going to visit.
In my opinion, when you know the history and the design of the building.
Maybe it's because I'm an architect,
But as soon as you enter the building,
you will understand the design and the history behind it
definitely you will live it and enjoy it even more.
The other temple that I visited and loved
It was Ta Prohm
"I guess it is pronounce that way "
This is the temple that I told you about, where the jungle "eat" it up
The restoration and preservation that they are doing is
basically just keeping the structures safe for the visitors
But they still keep letting nature to take her place.
This place is unbelievable.... You can't understand in your head
how a big tree like that grew on top of this building
how it ended up on top and its roots found the way down to the floor.
Just amazing
To Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm we went twice
The next day we decided to rent some bikes and visit again the monuments
On the way you can rest and feed the monkeys on the road
This day we visited later in the day from 10am to 4 pm
Personally I enjoyed and liked visiting the temples more in the noon- afternoon time
because there are less people, less crowded
You could take your time to sit, enjoy and take better pictures
The 3rd day we went to other temples. We asked again the tuk tuk driver
and he drove us to a different monuments that were less "popular" far away
This trip for me was an unique and unbelievable experience
and if you are planning to go you already know
read the history, dress correctly and bring your umbrella or hat for the bright sun
At the end I think it is all about the attitude
If you are going to go to places like this is because you really like it.
Not everyone like to go to see ruins...
If you are going is because you are interested what happened in that place
the architecture, the design and the history
Personally, I would come back to this place
just because I felt that there are a lot of things to see and 3 days wasn't enough
This is all for today, I hope this video
gives you an idea about this wonderful place in Cambodia.
That it helps you to finally decided to go
In the comments below, tell me about what is your dream historic place that you would love to visit!!
Mine was Angkor Wat, that now I checked from my list
but the place that I am obsessed with is Egypt
Since I was a kid I have been interested in everything related with the pyramids,
its design, the why, how, for what... anyway
it is something that I am obsessed and passionated about
and I can't wait to have the chance to go there :)
Lastly I would like to invite to Subscribe to my channel If you haven't already
also follow me on all my social media... Instagram, facebook, twitter, snapchat
If you are going to Cambodia or somewhere else, I wish you a good trip
and I hope to see you in the next video
see you.... Chao

English Pronunciation: How to say words ending in -OUGH & -AUGH - Duration: 10:16.
Hi.
Welcome back to www.engvid.com.
I'm Adam.
In today's lesson we're going to look at words that generally confuse people, especially
when it comes time to say them, words that have the "ough" or the "augh" inside them.
And the reason they're confusing is because they don't sound anything like they look.
Now, this is a common problem in English.
English is not a phonetically-spelled language.
In other languages, the way a word looks is the way it sounds.
In English, not so much.
So we're going to look at the different sounds that you can have with these letters.
And the thing you're going to have to remember is: This is about memorization.
Now, I know that some of you are asking me:
"Well, why do I say it like this?" or "Why do I say it like that?"
I don't know.
I'm sorry to tell you that.
There is no answer.
You have to remember each word, how it's pronounced, and just remember it, and use it, and practice it, etc.
So if you look here, you'll notice that I have eight different sounds for "ough" or "augh".
Okay?
Let's start with "uff", "uff":
"tough", "rough", "enough".
So, even though it's "o-u-g-h", there's no "ough".
Okay? That...
There's no such sound as "ough" in English.
All of these have a specific sound.
We're starting with "uff": "tough", "rough", "enough".
Now, this word I'm going to get back to in one second. Okay?
Let's look at the next one.
"Oo".
Very straight: "oo".
"Through", like you go through the wall.
If you're going really fast and you break through the wall, you're through.
"Ghoul", "ghoul".
A ghoul like is a some...
Is like a...
An animal that waits...
Or it's like a mystical or...
Sorry.
A fictional animal that waits for somebody to die and gets pleasure out of other people's death.
When people, for example, if you're driving on the highway and you see a really bad car
accident and you slow down to have a look, people might call you a ghoul because you
want to see blood, you want to see death.
Not a good word, but that's how it's pronounced.
"Ghoul", "oo".
Now, let's go back to this word.
The reason why I put it in the middle here is because this word actually has two meanings,
each one pronounced differently: "slough", "slough".
Okay? Different meanings.
Sl-...
It's not a word you're going to use very often, but "slough" is a...
It's basically like a marsh, like a very wet area.
It's not a lake, it's not a pond.
There's a lot of weeds and lots of plant in it, and it's very thick, but that's...
Another word for that is "slough".
"Slough", now, a lot of people will write it like this: "slew".
Especially American English, you can spell it like that.
"Slough" means a lot.
So: "He's got a slough of problems", means he's got a lot of problems.
This is more common usage, but again, you're going to see this more often than you're going to see that.
But if you do see that, like if you're reading British English, for example, you're going
to see that.
Just understand in context which word it is, "slough" or "slough".
Okay.
Next: "af".
So notice I'm using the "a" here, not the "o", so that gives you a little bit of a hint,
but not exactly because we're going to look at something else.
"Laugh", everybody knows "laugh", hahaha.
Right?
And "draught".
Now, again, American English, they don't bother,
they just spell it like that, "draft", exactly
how it sounds, exactly as it looks.
But "draught" has different meanings.
One, you can have a draught beer, like a beer from the keg.
You can drink that, draught beer.
There's also a draught, like a drawing.
Like an architect, for example, when he...
When he or she designs a building they make a draught of the plans, and once everything's
agreed and everything's settled then they make the actual final plans.
You can also have draughts of your essays.
First draught, second draught.
You make all the edits and changes, and you get to the end.
So, "af", and the "t" we're going to come back to...
Remember that "t", we're going to talk about that in a second.
Now, "up".
There's only one word that sounds like "up", and it's spelt with an "ough".
[Hiccoughs].
Oop, sorry, that was a hiccough.
Okay?
Again, American English will spell it like this: "hiccup".
British English will spell it like this, but they sound the same.
"Hiccough".
Okay.
"Of": "cough", "trough".
Again, not an everyday word, but you might hear it occasionally.
A "trough" is like a...
Like a box that you put water or food for animals.
So in the Western movies you see a horse coming down, is bending down and there's a box with
water and it's drinking.
That box is a trough.
When you...
When we speak about pigs eating, they usually eat out of a trough.
"Aow", like: "Aow, that hurt. Aow".
"Plough".
"Plough", like a farmer has this big tool...
Well, in the old days they had this big tool and the bull would...
They hook it onto the bull and they would plough the land, they would make holes to
plant their seeds.
Okay?
Now, again, a more common spelling is this one: "plow", but you will see this one as well.
This one.
Now, here you have to be very careful.
These words: "draught" and "drought", they look very similar.
The only difference is an "o" and an "a".
Keep that "o" and "a" in mind because that's the difference between the two when you see them.
"Drought" is when there's a long period of time with no rain, so the land is very, very dry.
Okay? That's a drought.
Okay.
"Ow", "ow": "dough", like when you put flour and water together and mix them, and you have
that pasty stuff, that's dough.
Now, you...
You might know this word: "doughnut", a very sweet treat.
Okay?
Again, Americans spell it like this: "donut", much easier.
British people will spell it "doughnut", but "dough".
Now, when we talk about the slang word for money:
"Do you have any dough I can borrow?
Do you have any money I could borrow?"
We're still using the same "dough".
"Though", "although", "though" is a conjunction for adverb clauses.
Now, this one's a little bit tricky, you have to be careful because this is a "the", and
then this is a "row": "thorough".
"Thorough" means very complete, full.
When you're making a thorough investigation, you're doing a complete, very detailed, in-depth
investigation.
"Thorough". Okay?
Don't confuse "thorough" with...
Where is it?
"Through", "thorough", and "though".
Where's the "ow"?
Oh, right above it. Sorry.
Okay.
These, one, two, three...
One, two, three words all look very similar.
Make sure you notice the slight differences and the different pronunciations.
"Borough".
If any of you live in New York, you know the five boroughs, basically the neighbourhood
or the area of a city is called a borough.
A "furlough", this is something that is...
Happens in the military.
When a soldier gets a little vacation time, they don't call it a vacation.
They call it a "furlough", time away from the military, approved time.
"Furlough".
But again, the actual spelling gives you no hint as to how to pronounce the word, so you
have to be very careful about it and just remember and use it.
And then: "ot", this is the most common one you know.
A lot of the irregular verbs in the past tense become these. Right?
"Think", "thought".
"Catch", "caught".
Now, here, the "a" or the "o" makes no difference; they both sound exactly the same.
But in writing, of course, spelling matters so make sure you know exactly how it's spelt
and how it's pronounced.
They sometimes can come in the middle.
"Daughter", "ought".
You ought to study this and practice, and you'll be better at it.
Now, remember I told you to remember the "t"?
Notice that most of the times when you have the "ough" or the "augh" followed by a "t",
the sound is going to be "ot".
But because this is English, and English likes to be complicated and difficult, we sometimes
have exceptions to the rule.
"Draught", "caught".
Okay? Or "daughter" or whatever.
Keep that in mind.
Now, again, I wish I could tell you there's a reason for it, and I'm sure for linguists,
there probably is, but it's not important.
What's important is that you know the different sounds, you know how to use them.
Now, there aren't many other words with these "ough" or "augh".
These are the ones you need to know.
If you come across other ones, what should you do?
If you're not sure which sound it is, look in the dictionary.
The dictionary will tell you exactly which sound goes with each "ough" or "augh" sound,
as it were.
Okay?
Now, if you have any questions, please come to www.engvid.com and join the forum,
and you can ask me any questions you like.
There is a quiz there right now that you can practice these sounds.
You will rhyme them with other words to make sure that they sound the same.
And, of course, subscribe to my channel on YouTube and come again soon.
Bye.

Poi Dance and Spinning using Shapes vs Momentum - Duration: 4:37.
Hi, I'm Drex from DrexFactor.com.
Many moons ago, a friend of mine signed up to support me via Patreon with the request
that I do videos on how to dance with props.
And when I say many moons ago, I mean about two years ago.
I've made attempts at doing dance and flow arts fusion tutorials but I've never gotten
very far with them--one of the biggest reasons being that I am not qualified to teach dance.
I'm still very much figuring it out myself and the process by which I've learned dance
hasn't been a linear step-by-step process like poi was.
So starting with this video what I'm going to do is a monthly video blog in which I explore
topics in flow arts/dance fusion.
These aren't intended to be tutorials, but explorations that I do with you guys.
Hopefully after a while we'll both find that we've learned something.
So with all that out of the way, today's topic is going to be two concepts in dance
that sometimes compliment each other and sometimes compete with each other.
These concepts are shapes and momentum.
Let's define these concepts first:
When I say shapes, what I mean is the tendency of the body to find interesting orientations
that create negative space, angles, interesting lines, and just all-around striking moments.
Momentum is the exploration of movement--starting and redirecting movement in different directions,
on different planes, and seeing how it evolves with the body.
Sometimes it can be one continuous movement that has a clearly defined beginning and ending
and sometimes it can be a wild cacophony of movement that seems to put the artist only
on the very edge of control.
I think it's safe to say that most flow artists and especially those of us who spin
flexible tools like poi, dart, and meteor are almost always drawn toward the first type
of movement.
The reasons for this are very simple:
First, much of what we do with our props is centered around creating interesting shapes
anyway.
We like to create antispin flowers, third-order motions, hybrids, and many more--but all of
these concepts are built around the shapes that we create with our tools as we spin them.
Moving with our tools in such a way that we create shapes, then, is a very easy concept
for us to understand.
Second, it creates a stable base from which to perform a trick.
Building shapes more often than not grounds us in ways that don't actively make performing
a trick any more difficult.
We have the best of both worlds: orienting our bodies in interesting ways while still
doing all the cool tricks we've devoted so much time and effort to.
Finally, there's definitely something to be said for the contrast between rapidly moving
props and a slowly moving or outright still body.
But it's also very limiting.
One of the biggest challenges I had when I decided to formally learn dance was how to
carry momentum through my body.
To this day, I almost always think of choreography as a collection of shapes I attempt to get
to and movement transitions between them.
It makes my choreography feel very forced and not very smooth.
It also means it takes vastly more effort for me to complete a phrase than it does other
dancers who have a more traditional dance background.
If there were one thing I could change about how I dance, it would absolutely be this.
Well, okay, maybe flexibility first but definitely this second.
Momentum is one of those things that engages an audience not just in the moment they're
currently experiencing, but also creates anticipation for what happens next.
As long as a dancer is moving and has momentum, you know there is something in this phrase
still to come.
It also allows you to create tricks that aren't possible in static positions.
There are things you can do with your body that are only possible by redirecting momentum.
Jumps from a static position can look flat and lifeless.
Those that are assisted by movement beforehand are much more dynamic.
So how can you add momentum to your movement?
Here are a couple exercises I've played with that might make good examples:
First, just moving from side to side of a stage does so much to make a performance engaging
by using the stage itself as a canvas to be painted.
One of my favorite ways to do this is to imagine that my hips are drawing a series of loops
as they move from one side of the stage to the other.
Second, building corkscrew-like movements.
As you execute turns around your body you can build from lower levels up to higher levels,
culminating in jumps or pirouettes.
Third: redirecting momentum.
One of those things that's been incredibly difficult for me to process as a flow artist
has been that you can start momentum in one plane and then transfer it to a different
plane.
This is mainly because it's so difficult to do this with poi and make it look good.
Your body is a different story entirely.
Try starting a movement in a vertical plane and after it reaches an apex have it descend
into a horizontal plane.
Think of movement that curves over, that spills out, that bounces back and forth.
Think about how that momentum begins and ends.
It can be startling to just have a movement stop abruptly.
Or use that momentum to tell a story that has a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Use it to define a relationship or to create a feeling.
Momentum is hard to make work with props, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't
try.
So, I hope this gives some of you guys some interesting ideas or places to start exploring.
This is a thing that I wrestle with constantly.
I think ideally good dance mixes up the use of beautiful shapes with momentum--the two
compliment each other well.
But I also see a fair amount of the former in flow arts dance and almost none of the
latter.
Here's hoping we can change that.
If you're interested in exploring more dance with your flow, I highly recommend you find
a local studio and take lessons.
It's intimidating and it can be incredibly challenging, but the things you'll learn
there are absolutely irreplaceable.
Thanks for watching and enjoy the flow.
Peace!

all kinds of instruments that you don't see in Western music
Old (classic) Arabic songs
Ok but what about Kurdish?
I am saying it is the same type
What foods?
Kubbe
Eggplant, okra that kind of food
Are you interested in traveling there to see it?
Of course
I am interested in all countries not just there specifically
Has anyone in your family gone there to visit?
No
Would you move there? That's what they are asking
No
Of course not
We miss it (the culture)
It is missing in our lives in some ways
The Kurdish culture?
Yes
But not
but we wouldn't want to live like that
but in some ways, we do want to understand it and learn from it
and to know it
In Israel
what happened was
they tried to unify us into one nation
a way of life
from the start of the country they believed that you need to be a certain way
and they put to the side the cultures of the Kurds
Iraqis and other cultures
which was the wrong thing to do
They wanted to create for us a certain culture
to point us in a certain (cultural) direction
and that we should forget things like our foods and music
and other things
It looks like they weren't very successful
because from my experiences there are many cultures in Israel
and each contributes something
That's what is so beautiful It is amazing
Are you Kurdish from both sides?
From my mother's side
What's her last name? -Avshalom
Where did they come from?
From Kurdistan, Mosel
Mosel
Mosel is Iraq
No, Mosel is exactly between Kurdistan and Iraq
Film the sign
This is where we pray our synagogue
"Immigrants of Amedia"
Amedia is from Kurdistan
So this is a Kurdish synagogue
I found the right place
What do you still do today that is connected to being Kurdish?
I am a simple man
I love the People of Israel
I eat a lot of Kubbe and Kutele
That's what's important
Kutele? What is Kutele?
Small Kubbe
with rice, that is what is kutele
They have a lot of good foods
most of it is Eastern foods
The Kurdish people are a simple people
and the miracle of the Kurdish (Jews) is that they don't have a language
or a writing system
The Kurdish (Jews) don't have a specific language
they speak Aramaic
Aramaic - you are talkinig about the Jews
Yes, the Jews and they don't have any writings
they don't have a written language
like other languages
So they pass things on (verbally) from generation to generation
from generation to generation
Do you listen to Kurdish music with the Zorno...
We pray here in the Kurdish (Jewish) melody
Jewish Kurdish melody
Because the people asking are Muslim Kurds
They are asking what you do
They are not familiar with any of this
So I am explaining
I work at the grave of King David on Mount Zion
Which is?
The grave of King David
And people from all over the world come there
2 weeks ago a group came from Kurdistan
Elders from Kurdistan
So we sat together and spoke
Muslims? Yes, Muslims
Wow
If you could travel there to see...
Yes, you should go!
No, I mean you
Would you go?
Of course I would go
What about living there?
One of the heads of the synagogue Raphael Daouki
from Daouk in Kurdistan
And he goes there every few years
The last time he was there was
three years ago
But because of the whole mess with Turkey and the groups
so he stopped but he used to go every few years
He said it was beautiful Beautiful mountains...
Why did he go there?
Today it is a mess because of ISIS in Iraq...
the entire situation...
But why did he go there?
to visit?
He missed it
His grandparents...
Nice
Ok the situation in the area is a mess today
but would you go live there?
To live? No because there is nothing better than the Land of Israel
We came here to live in the Land of Israel
But visit, of course

Do you know any singers from Kurdistan?
Which?

Not Israeli
From there
There are many

I know only one word in Kurdish and it is a swear word
Ok, what is it?
Which means?
Like "fuck your mother"

No
You don't know where it is
But why not?
What is there, there? Desert?

I don't know that one
It's probably Persian
I know the Iraqi side better

It is similar to (debka)
you dance in a circle
If you could, would you or your father
go back to visit?
Or live?
No, neither I nor my father would
Visit?
To visit?
Doubtful
Maybe out of curiosity we would
Like as a family to see your roots? - No, no
Maybe because of the war going on there
I think the Persian side is safe

TRAVELING TO ANGKOR WAT - CAMBODIA ✈ Milé Rubio TV - Duration: 9:03.

"Hiccough".
Okay.
"Of": "cough", "trough".
Bye.
