Hi, everyone! Welcome back to my channel. This past week I was in LA for KCon LA
and was curious about American's thoughts on the E'Dawn and HyunA dating "scandal."
For those of you that aren't familiar with what's going on,
don't worry I will catch you up :)
So recently HyunA announced that she and
labelmate and bandmate E'dawn had been dating for two years this news did not go down
well with Korean fans especially fans of E'Dawn's main group, Pentagon, and some of
them have even called for E'Dawn to be removed from the group entirely and
while Cube has not done that yet (Cube is the company that manages E'Dawn and
Hyuna and Pentagon) they have removed him from several upcoming performances
including the one at KCon LA and they've also removed HyunA from a few upcoming
performances and they've announced that Triple H, which is the group that HyunA
and E'Dawn and labelmate Hui are in would no longer be actively promoting their new
single. SO. I've seen reactions from Korean fans but I was curious about what
American fans thought about this whole thing. So, while I was in LA, I stopped
some of them to ask them for their opinions. Before we get started, I do have
to note that this is my first time interviewing people outside and so the
audio is not great at some parts. I've learned my lesson and next time I will
have a better mic setup but, for now, I have added captions during the parts
where it's difficult to hear and you can always turn on closed captioning for the
entire video in settings. Okay, let's hear some opinions!
I've been a K-pop fan since 2015. She's actually the one who got me into K-Pop
Big Bang, GD!
Ultimate group is Girls Generation, bias would have been Jessica
Wooseok. Jinho.
Twice. Jihyo! Tzuyu!
For me, BTS and my favorite is Jimin.
For me, Seventeen and DK
I think my favorite bias or, like, ultimate bias right now is HyunA
So as much as I love Tzuyu, when she's happy I'm happy
I not gonna be so I'm not gonna be mad at her because it's all for me about supporting her.
I'd be so happy for them!
At the end of the day it's their personal life and it's none of our business.
This is their job, like, their performers
Here, people can't ask you if you're married or dating when you apply for a job, that's illegal.
I support them for what they mean to me in terms of like inspiration
I want them to be happy regardless, no matter what
I'm totally fine with that. He's getting old anyway,
I just want him to be like Taeyang, meets the person he really loves
and marries her and has, like, a family
When they find love , it's hard for them to be in a relationship and find love, so when they do
They should be happy and the fans should be happy for them.
It's not [shakes head] I've been upset. I've been pretty sad.
It's been heartbreaking to see ten boys I've supported for so long and
everything they had to do throughout Pentagon Maker
The whole point of Pentagon Maker was that they wanted [the group] to me all ten, they've all said they wanted to be ten
and now that there's not ten, it's sucks, it's sad.
I think it's dumb, personally, because I feel that business life and personal life shouldn't be interconnected.
If you're an idol, you should still have your own personal life and shouldn't be able to say anything [about] that.
If you really want to support the group you should really support everything he's doing.
I think this is just how Korean audiences react when they see two of their idols dating
They want to see their lives as a single, potential bachelor/bachelorettes
I feel like, as a whole, international fans are a lot more accepting in terms of that than Korean fans.
I think just a difference in culture.
'Cuz international fans, I've noticed, don't care as much
It's very lax, like they don't really care but Korean fans are very intense
but I think it's because they have more of a connection to them because they
get to a fan signs and feel like they have relationship with the artist
I also think it's the way they market idols, too, they market them as like boyfriends or girlfriends
and I think that's part of the issue.
Yeah, you'll go to a fan signing and they'll be like "oh, we're married now"
or jokes about how your their girlfriend so
it builds that up so when it gets broken down they don't know what to do.
They snap.
It's a little much, like, why are people upset that he's dating. He's a human being
That has nothing to do with his music, that has nothing to do with his art, let him do what he wants to do.
If dating life is all you care about, you're in it for the wrong reasons, seriously.
you're not a fan of them because you feel like you're gonna date them,them later look what they put out there that's personal it's
really hard because Korea has their own standards
I think someone home entertainment advanced to one group and they bolivar
international i think our fans are like 100% support yeah but it's the fans that
are fans of male groups and male idols are very protective of their idols I get
that like I'd be protected but I'm protective of them when it comes to
their mental health and them sleeping and eating and see books I think people
get so interested in that on stage on camera they forget that the action of
people and I don't spoken about something personal how do you need to
put yourself in a position where you say no you're not allowed to do this
he's not going to be he's not here at all I think that it's safe for now he
doesn't get any impossible like threats feel like it wasn't really a good idea
for the model emotions because I think that what matters more is like
entertaining the audience and the audience kind of want a group and that's
what they're supposed to be doing today people only started complaining about
his participation in the movie but now it seems lacking after they found out he
was in college yeah he's been fine since day two you have no effect on way too
much that's a professional it's his job so you should be there like oh yeah
