so we thought

let's do something different

let's compare it to the competition

the Mercedes-AMG E63 S

yeah, good idea!

has also been done 10 times

so we thought

we have to do something different

we have to come up with something

let's compare it to the previous one

but at short notice

we couldn't get a stock M5 F10

so we've got an M6 GranCoupe F06

with the Competition package

we'll look at the mechanics today

what has been changed?

what has been improved?

if there are improvements

with the new BMW M5 F90

how much more HP did we get?

zero

600 HP

and the M5 30 Jahre edition also had 600 HP

NM did improve

700 Nm

750 Nm

and you really feel that

it still has the 4.4 V8 BiTurbo

same engine as that one

but with new turbos

and a new high-pressure fuel system

and a new exhaust

and some extra Nm

looks wise

we've made a couple of reviews

about the new 5-series

it's a beautiful car

very good-looking

but I don't know

whether it's aggressive enough as M5

the front fenders are wider

but the rear ones are almost flush

so the rear is a bit delicate

not that impressive

and if you park it next to an M6 GranCoupe

with that awesome rear end

those big wheels

wider arches

it get's a bit painful

we'll drive the M6 now

to remind ourselves what it's like

how it feels

and after that we'll get in the M5

as I said

you've all seen 30 reviews

about the new M5

so we're comparing it to this

this M6 has an M-DCT gearbox

so dual clutch transmission

and rear wheel drive

those are the two biggest changes

the M5 has gone through

this car is so fast!

and you get those hits

through the drivetrain

when you pull that paddle

when you drive slowly

I'll demonstrate

if you're driving around town

at the lights

you have to stop and go and stop

it's a bit jerky

but when you hit the throttle

it shifts really fast

it's very aggressive

that's really great

and it characterizes these BMW M's

you could see it as a problem

that has to be fixed

and we've got another one of those

if you set off with this car

traction control is off

and you floor it

it's a lot of wheel spin

everywhere along this road

are black tyre marks

because it's impossible to launch it

with 600 HP and RWD

again, you can see it as a shortcoming

something that has to be improved

or you can see it as charm

a raw edge

something that's up for improvement

is the sound

everytime I drive this car

I think: WHY??

why did they do this

it sounds like a UFO taking off

that artificial sound is louder

than that coming from the engine or exhaust

sometimes you do get a bang

from the exhaust at an upshift

but generally

inside and out

it doesn't sound that good

it could be better

big difference in here

of course that's the spec as well

M6 is black on black on black

with carbon fiber

this is very light

part of the First Edition

also Frozen Dark Red on the outside

with black wheels, black grill

black details

we also have ceramic brakes

shaves 23 kg off the unsprung weight

and it has a badge right here

with M5 First Edition | 1 of 400

if we rev it

it does sound better

there are some crackles

it also bangs on the upshift

and we're in 4WD Sport mode

because that's the biggest change

it has xDrive now

it is M xDrive though

so that means...

we can still do that

in 4WD Sport mode

that's the biggest improvement

in my opinion

compared to the old one

it has 3 options

4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD

4WD speaks for itself

all 4 wheels

but it is rear biased

4WD Sport

more to the rear, less to the front

and 2WD shuts off the front axle

especially that 4WD Sport mode

is really nice

because it means you can switch off DSC

that MDM mode from M products

is horrible

because it still cuts the power hard

and it's like hitting a wall

with this one and DSC off

your front wheels become your DSC

because if the rear end get's loose

those front wheels pull you out of the slide

that feels really good

the sound in here

it's less UFO take off sound

it's a bit darker

I think the engine is louder as well

you hear that exhaust too

if you get of the throttle it crackles

and those upshift bangs as I said

and this car is insanely fast

that 4WD makes it so much faster

4WD Sport, little slide

this thing is crazy

even though it has the same power

this M5 is much faster than that M6

we've done a 0-300 km/h test

on the Autobahn

this thing is really quick

it's not as fast as the E63 S though

it's about 2 seconds slower to 300 km/h

according to our timing

but there will be an M5 Competition

which will have 625 HP

and that'll solve another problem

just stay with me here

trying to demonstrate the 2WD mode

but that Competition pack solves a problem

because the suspension in this car

I've got it in Sport Plus now

I think it's a bit soft

I'm not really in contact with the car

and that's because the suspension is too soft

it's super comfortable in comfort mode

and in Sport Plus it's also comfortable

there is some difference

but not enough if you ask me

that competition pack

will have stiffer suspension

those raw edges I mentioned earlier

objectively, yes, they should be polished

but, subjectively, when you drive this

you miss them

that 2WD mode is the only raw edge left

because you do have to pay attention

because it has so much HP and torque

if you switch off DSC

which you have to do

to engage 2WD mode

you do get that dangerous M edge back

the gearbox is a big change too

that M6 has an M-DCT

this now has a ZF 8-speed automatic

with torque converter

a regular automatic gearbox

the shifts are really quick

but you don't get that kick

through the drivetrain

and that's too bad

that too, is a bit softer

it is a really good daily driver though

that's clearly what BMW was going for

being able to drive this car every day

no matter the circumstances

when it rains, when it snows

whatever

you have to be able to use this car

it had to be less frightening maybe

for the average customer

again, it's a fantastic car

it's so much more versatile

and it's a better, more complete car

a couple of years ago

you would've been chased away at BMW M

if you mentioned xDrive in an M5

but with this amount of power

competition pack 625 HP

they went with 4WD

and with this recipe

I think they should do an M5 Touring

their excuses about a Touring

not being sporty enough

and going exclusively sedan

are not relevant anymore

I want that M5 Touring!

because if you ask me

that would be my ultimate M5

11 million people tuned in to watch the Season 3 premiere

of Rick and Morty.

And Rick and Morty's fans are so obsessed that a throwaway joke

was enough to make McDonald's bring back a limited edition

Clearly, there's something about this show

that resonates with people today.

It has an attitude many of us can relate to.

"Seems like TV from other dimensions has a somewhat looser feel to it."

"Yeah, it's got an almost improvisational tone."

expresses the sensibility of our times.

What are "our times" anyway?

It's not always easy to see everything about your own present day very clearly.

Looking back at history,

things become more crystallized into eras and movements with labels --

The Renaissance, The Enlightenment, Romanticism…

but trying to label the zeitgeist while you're living it

can feel a little like trying to see that the Earth is round

while you're standing on it.

Still, how can we try to define today's way of thinking?

And how is that mindset reflected in Rick and Morty?

The defining mode of thought in art and culture

for many recent decades has been Postmodernism.

To understand Postmodernism, first we have to look at Modernism,

a cultural movement inspired by the increasingly industrialized cities

and changing lifestyle of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Modernism was about breaking with the past, embracing the new and "modern,"

finding innovation in art and technology, and grappling with the horrors of World War

But Modernism still had faith in the power of humankind

to create a better world through science, technology,

and the applied human mind.

After World War II, Modernism was eventually displaced by Postmodernism,

a movement that rejected the one-size-fits-all

"grand narratives" of Modernism.

Instead, Postmoderism saw truth and values as the product

of cultural and social circumstances.

It embraced moral relativism, pluralism, not one universal meaning for everyone.

Postmodernism was irreverent --

Fredric Jameson said it showed a "waning of affect,"

meaning it had less sincere emotion and more irony and skepticism.

Rick and Morty has definitely been called a Postmodern show before.

It has Postmodernism's irreverent self-referentiality,

"Roll the credits!

Go!

Just shake that ass!

That's the end of Season 1!

That's the end, mother-[BLEEP]!"

its deconstruction of grand narratives

"I accept your call to adventure, good sir.

Kind sir.

Come on, Rick!

There's a giant in the clouds!"

"Yeah.

[Burp] Beginner's luck."

and its irony and skepticism.

"There is no god, Summer.

Gotta rip that Band-Aid off now.

You'll thank me later."

And yet, despite all the cynicism and self-awareness,

the show also gives us sincere, deeply felt moments,

like the time Morty has to bury his own dead body,

or when Unity breaks up with Rick

and he presumably tries to commit suicide.

These scenes demonstrate

that there's a strong undercurrent of genuine feeling

beneath the facade of not caring about things.

As the New Republic's Eric Armstrong put it,

"Roiland and Harmon are (...) asserting the value of sentimentality,

cloaked in Lovecraftian postmodernism."

It seems as though in general in our culture,

sentimentality and earnestness are starting to come back into vogue.

Look at the success of The Shape of Water,

which won Best Picture and Best Director at the 2018 Academy Awards.

The film's Director, Guillermo del Toro,

has actually emphasized the film's earnestness.

"And the thing that is important for me is to be shameless and earnest

and honest and not Postmodern."

As cultural theorists Timotheus Vermeulen and Robin Van den Akker argue,

all postmodern tendencies aren't being abandoned,

but they are taking on a new sensibility.

So what we're seeing is that Postmodernism's clever dissection

of grand narratives is still very much in play,

"So dark.

You're sure you're not from the DC Universe?"

but today there's also

a strong desire for hope and meaning again.

This shift back towards earnestness is likely a reaction to the long list

of pressures facing our society today --

our divided political landscape, climate change, globalization,

financial crises, tensions over

how a modern society approaches race, gender and sexuality.

In the face of all these challenges, neither Postmodernism nor Modernism

is really going to cut it alone.

To paraphrase Vermeulen and Van den Akker,

Modernists were too confident in humanity's ability to fix everything,

while Postmodernists were too apathetic.

To put that another way, it's as if Modernists say:

World War I was tough, but we're smart

and we have awesome technology and innovation,

so we can make everything good.

Postmodernists say:

We were wrong to think we could really change the world for the better.

Let's just play in the ruins, because nothing means anything anyway.

These days we say:

We know enough to see that everything very possibly won't turn out okay,

but we can't afford to give up hope.

Vermeulen and Van den Akker call this new, emerging way of thought

Metamodernism,

and they define it as an oscillation between the Modern and the Postmodern.

Metamodernism is a pendulum constantly swinging back and forth,

that push and pull between optimistic sentiment

and cynical detachment.

So now that you've stayed with us through all of that,

what's really fascinating is that this oscillation matches up

very well with the key back and forth we find in Rick and Morty.

Take this quote from Vermeulen and Van den Akker,

which basically sounds like it could be describing the show:

"Metamodernism oscillates between a modern enthusiasm

"I love my grandkids."

"Aw."

and a postmodern irony

"Psych."

between hope and melancholy, between naivete and knowingness,

empathy and apathy.

Each time the metamodern enthusiasm swings towards fanaticism,

gravity pulls it back toward irony;

the moment its irony sways toward apathy,

gravity pulls it back toward enthusiasm."

This oscillation is everywhere in Rick and Morty.

Here, Morty is having what looks like a psychedelic soul union with the Fart:

"I said goodbyeee mooon men…."

but then it's cut short

"Shut the [BLEEP] up about moon men!"

and he's forced to shoot his new alien friend.

Or here, he's enjoying the sunset,

but one minute later things take a turn for the worse.

Basically every time there's a melodic pop song in the soundtrack,

it's almost an announcement

that the show has reached peak sentimentality

and will be swinging back towards cynicism very soon.

For example, in season 3, we got the episode The Ricklantis Mix-up.

This stand-alone episode about the utopian citadel of Ricks

earnestly explores late capitalism and racial politics.

"Same old story.

Morties killin' Morties."

Its final sequence set to sentimental music,

in addition to revealing the Evil Morty connection,

makes us feel a deep sadness and regret about our modern lives

with our mind-numbing jobs, our fake happiness for sale,

and our evil politicians.

But lest we get the wrong idea from all this serious commentary,

the very next episode, Morty's Mindblowers,

undermines this clear, earnest insight

with a collection of disconnected vignettes

and the episode ends with Rick and Morty

both forgetting everything and watching TV.

"How did we fall asleep during interdimensional cable?"

The point of Morty's Mindblowers is basically that Rick and Morty's life

is made up of repeating

the same disturbing, meaningless cycle over and over.

On its own, the episode Morty's Mindblowers

is peak Postmodernism.

But in the larger structure of the season,

it's the pendulum swinging back to balance out

what we just saw in The Ricklantis Mix-up.

Other times the show gives us sentimentality

"I'm ok with this.

Be good, Morty.

Be better than me."

and then backtracks

"The other collar!

I'm not ok with this!"

telling us later that what we saw and believed to be genuine sentiment

was actually false.

"Oh Lord, hear my prayers.

Yes!

[BLEEP] you god.

Not today, bitch."

Rick arranges for his capture by the Federation,

sacrificing himself to save his family,

to the soundtrack of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt".

"I will let you down.

I will make you hurt."

Then in season 3,

we learn that Rick wasn't actually sacrificing himself for his family,

he was just doing the usual -

"You came to rescue them."

"I came to kill you, bro.

That's not even my original Summer."

"Oh my god, he's not bluffing."

trying to disrupt the powers that be

by making supposedly meaningful things meaningless.

"Watch closely as Grandpa topples an empire by changing a 1 to a 0."

So the show undermines what it's previously presented

and rewrites itself,

to never let us get comfortable

with either the sentimental investment or the ironic detachment.

This push and pull can be seen in pretty much every aspect of the show --

one protagonist is a cynical nihilist, the other is a hopeful, empathetic kid.

And within Rick himself, we see this tension constantly.

We've talked before about how Rick's character arc

fluctuates between caring and not caring.

He finds meaning by zooming into the love he has for his family

and then he reverts to zooming out and knowing that everything is meaningless.

And that brings us back to us and the zeitgeist Rick and Morty

is tapping into.

In many ways Rick's emotional back-and-forth is a mirror

of how a lot of people feel today.

Even if we don't have Rick's access to innumerable galaxies,

the Internet gives us access to innumerable information bytes.

So like Rick, we have the ability to see how tiny our lives are

in comparison to the bigger world and universe out there.

And we can find ourselves a little exhausted by the never-ending

depressing, disturbing news produced by a world

that doesn't always seem worth investing in.

But in spite of all that, we also don't want to give up hope.

Because, like Rick, we do care,

in spite of how insurmountable the problems can seem.

So we can see that Rick's back-and-forth sin wave

of caring and not caring

is a pretty accurate reflection of the zeitgeist.

The show's popularity is more than just a sum

of its many great parts --

as it balances irony and empathy, idealism and nihilism,

enthusiasm and apathy,

Rick and Morty perfectly embodies that ever-swinging pendulum

of the spirit of today.

"Goddammit.

Why am I crying.

Makes no sense.

Ugh.

You're probably confused because we barely knew each other,

but you're different, Noob Noob."

"Mother-[BLEEP]."

Currency Searching - $1 and $2 Bills - Star Notes! - Duration: 5:21.

hey everyone its Rob with Rob finds treasure and we've got $750

in currency to search today

alright guys I got 250 dollars in twos and 500 in ones and wouldn't you know

it one of the bank straps does have a star note on top, an ender I'll take it

that's a nice start but we're gonna go with the twos first I'm gonna run

through them not on camera but I did notice that there was a 76 that I got

it's trashed it's missing a piece and nothing special about the serial number

but we're gonna hunt these were hoping for maybe a red seal or something even

an older note I'll take a a pre 76 note or a pre-80s note in good condition but

not this one let me crack into these and let you know what I find all right guys

the twos are down the best thing I found in the twos was a trinary with twos

fours and zeros could have been a lot of different shuffling of those numbers

that have been a really great bill but you know what we'll take it and then we

found stamp on the back of one get ready I'm coming again Jesus Christ - amen but

I did find a couple of 76 bills a couple of 95 bills but no nothing fancy no red seals

nothing that great I'll tell you though I don't get a chance to search very many

circulated twos there are always new straps so it was fun to go through them

wish I would've got a star note or something more cool but we'll take the

trinary and pull it aside take those back to the bank and we'll get on to the

ones you already see the first star note so I just slide it out of here and as

always guys at the end of all my videos for currency searches I'll be checking

the print run and rarity of this star note so we'll take a look at that here

in a moment but let's get back to the hunt first strap down all we got was a

star note as an Ender thought might find one more in that stack but no deal so

let's move on to stack number two but halfway into the second strap we got her

to start out so put that aside but check in that later let's keep looking

three quarters of the way down we got another star note so that's a doing

pretty good for us three star notes in not even two full straps

two straps down three star notes found let's move on a strap number three oh

the agony as usual look at this almost radar starts off six five two then it

ends if you go reverse six five two but it couldn't be a zero zero or a five

five in the middle to give me a right arm so close but that's currency surging

all right guys third strap down all we got to show for it was a trinary and if

it would've ended with a five or one would have been a binary but it is what

it is let's move on to strap number four just

a few bills on the strap number four guys and we've got under the start up

that's our fourth one typically you want to find about one star note for every

Bank strap so we've got four we're not even barely into the fourth so we're on

pace to do that just a little past halfway through the four strap we've got

another star note that's star note number five in four and a half stacks

well three and a half stacks cuz this is the fourth we're almost finished with

If every day if one's life, if every hour and moment of our life,

if it has to be a forward movement, if it has to be a process of growth and not

stagnation, it is important that

we are in constant communion with that which is the ultimate truth.

In identifying ourselves with limited aspects of who we are,

we are identified with many things.

If you identify yourself with anything that is not you,

obviously you're not moving from untruth to truth,

you're moving from truth to untruth, from reality to hallucinatory process.

In this, one will not evolve, one will just entangle

because in this you will not know the nature of your existence.

In this you will not touch anything that is real.

The psychological drama will rise in such a big way

it will raise so much dust in your head that you can't see what is in front of you.

If a dust storm comes up here, if… now they've

So if you are in a state of nirmoha or non-identification with anything other than what is this (Gestures),

you will come naturally to an unwavering way of being.

Once you're unwavering in your purpose, liberation cannot be denied to you.

There is no way it can be denied to you.

The reason why this life does not get to its natural destination is

every minute you're changing course.

Every minute the focus of your life keeps shifting,

every minute whatever you set your eyes upon it gets identified with it.

So after some time it just does not know where to go.

It just will not know where to go.

It will be one confusing mess.

Suddenly life looks unnecessarily complicated.

The complication is only in your psychological process;

life is pretty simple.

Birth is not in your hands; you're just born and you have to just die

one day, really.

Is anybody else making anything else compulsory for you?

Is anything else compulsory?

Birth is compulsory, death is compulsory

in between whatever the hell you want, simple, isn't it?

'No, no, no, but, but, but, but, but…'

But that's all yours.

Only two things nature has set for you, you're born, you have to die.

Aren't you glad you have come with an expiry date?

Hmm?

Aren't you glad?

Hmm?

I'm glad.

(Laughter) If there was no expiry date,

could we make you meditate for a moment?

Suppose you were immortal.

Could I tell you anything?

(Laughter) Only because there's an expiry date and

you do something or you don't something don't do something

it just keeps going because it doesn't wait for you.

process (Laughs), going through the day is an unbelievably complex

process.

Everything, just everything has become so complex.

if you had to conduct the rhythm of your heart, if you had to conduct the circulation of blood,
