lamentations to lamentations - how about the Lord covered the daughter of Zion
with a cloud in his anger and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of
Israel and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger
the Lord has swallowed up all the the habitations of Jacob and hath not pitied
he had thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah he
hath brought them down to the ground he had polluted the kingdom and the
princesses thereof he hath cut off in his fierce anger all the Horn of Israel
he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy and he burned against
Jacob like a flaming fire which his Bharath around about roundabout he had
bent his bow like an enemy he stood with his right hand as an adversary and slew
all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion he
poured out his fury like fire the Lord was an enemy he had swallowed up Israel
he has swallowed up all her palaces he had destroyed his strongholds and hath
increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation he had
violently taken away his tabernacle as if it were a garden he had destroyed his
pallet of light places of the Assembly the Lord hath caused the solemn feast
and Sabbath's to be forgotten in Zion and has despised in the in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest the Lord hath cast off his
altar he had poured his sanctuary he had given up into the hand of the enemy the
walls of her palaces they have made a noise in the house of the Lord as in the
day of a solemn feast have purposed to destroy the wall of the
daughter of Zion he has stretched out a line he hath not withdrawn his hand from
destroying their fort he made the rampart and the wall to lament they
languished together her gates are sunk sunk into the ground he had destroyed
and broken her bars her King and her princesses are among the Gentiles the
law is no more her prophets also find no vision from the Lord the elders of the
daughter of Zion sit upon the ground and keep silence they have cast up dust upon
their heads they have girded himself with sackcloth the Virgin's of Jerusalem
hang down their heads to the ground my eyes do fill with tears my bowels are
troubled my liver is poured upon the earth for the destruction of the
daughter of my people because the children and the suckling swoon in the
streets of the city they say to their mothers where is corn and wine when they
swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city when their soul was poured out
into their mother's bosom what things shall I take to witness for thee what
things shall I liken to the Oh daughter of Jerusalem what shall our equal to
thee then that I may comfort thee o virgin daughter of Zion for thy breach
is great like the seat who can heal thee the prophets have said had seen vain and
foolish things for thee and they have not discovered down iniquity to turn
away thy captivity but have seen for the the false burdens and causes of
banishment all that passed by clapped their hands at the they hissed and wag
their head at the daughter of Jerusalem saying is this the city that men call
the perfection of beauty the joy of the whole earth all thine enemies have
opened their mouths against thee they hiss and gnash the
teeth they say we have swallowed her up
certainly this is the day that we looked for we have found we have seen it the
Lord hath done that which he had devised he had fulfilled his word that he had
commanded in the days of old he had thrown down and hath not pitied he had
caused on enemy to rejoice over thee he had set up the Horn of don
adversaries their heart cried unto the Lord a wall of the daughter of Zion let
tears run down like a river and night give ourselves no rest let not the apple
of that eye sees arrives cry out of the night in the beginning of the watches
pour out down heart like water before the face of the Lord lift up down hands
toward him for the life of thy young children they faint for hunger in the
top of every street behold O Lord and consider to whom thou has done this
shall the women eat their fruit and children of a span long shall the priest
and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord The Young and the
old lie on the ground and the streets my virgins and my young men are fallen by
the sword though I had slain them in the day of Don anger that I was killed and
not pitied I was called as in a solemn day my terrors round about so that end
the day of the Lord's anger none escaped nor it remained those that I have
swaddled and brought up my enemy consumed all right so this chapter here
in lamentations chapter number 2 of course we've already been a couple of
weeks in Chapter number 1 and of course this is going off the Book of Jeremiah
that you know all the things that God had predicted in the Book of Jeremiah
that was going to happen to them if they had not turned away from their sin that
these things would come to pass they've now come to pass in the Book of
Lamentations which is why there's so much lamenting going on right
much mourning over what has taken place and so you know there's a lot of things
in this chapter and then throughout Jeremiah in lamentations that's kind of
repetitive so I'm not going to repeat some things that we've already talked
about but I want to focus on one thing in this chapter here tonight in fact
look on down and what the Bible has to say in verse number verse number five
and those what the Bible says the Lord was and what an enemy he has swallowed
up Israel he has swallowed up all her palaces he have destroyed his
strongholds and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and
lamentation and he hath violently taken away his tabernacle as if it was as if
it were of a garden he hath destroyed his places of the Assembly the Lord hath
caused a song feasts in the Sabbath to be forgotten in Zion and hath despised
in the evening nation of his anger the king and the priests the LORD hath cast
off his altar he hath abhorred his sanctuary he hath given up into the hand
of the enemy the walls of her palaces they have made a noise in the house of
the Lord as in the day of a solemn feast so notice here yo because they have
become so wicked that God has actually become the Bible says their enemy and so
we want to ask the question here tonight yo how does somebody or how does a
nation become an enemy of God you know this is a nation that once were they
were the chosen people of God they were the people that God was working through
they were the apple of God's eye God loved them God had used them throughout
the scriptures throughout the Old Testament and again later on when they
come out of captivity out of the land of Babylon they will again be used by God
when they come back to God and worship God and obey God and obey his laws and
His commandments but at this point in the history of of the nation of Judah
they have actually gone to the point where yeah they used to be
the people of God but now they are the enemy of God now God has become an enemy
to them and he's the one that has done this he's the one that's brought
judgment upon them he's the one that has removed them he's the one that has
allowed the enemy to come into the land God has done this why because he has
become an enemy to them why because they first became an enemy to God so how does
somebody become an enemy to god we'll take your Bibles go to James chapter
number four and look what the Bible has to say there James chapter number four
and look at verse number four see what the Bible has to say there James chapter
number four and look at verse number four James comes right after the book of
Hebrews there and I write before first and second Peter
so James chapter number four and look down at verse number four see the Bible
has to say James chapter number four in fact you know what let's go back to
verse one just for contact sake James chapter four verse number one the Bible
says from whence come Wars and Fighting's among you come they not hence
even of your lust that war in your members ye lust and have not ye kill and
desire to have and cannot obtain you fight and war yet you have not because
she asked not you ask and receive not because she asked a miss that she may
consume it upon you were lust ye adulterers and adulteresses know ye not
that friendship of the world is enmity with God whosoever therefore will be a
friend of the world what's the Bible say is the enemy of God so in short here
tonight if I were just gonna give you a short answer of how you become a enemy
of God well how is that well the Bible says if you are a friend of the world
then you are at the enemy of God and notice there throughout the scriptures
the Bible makes it clear that these people they're fighting they're warring
and yet they have not you know you ever run into people out there in the war
it seems like they're always fighting they're always warring they're always
trying to gain things in the world and they think that they're doing the will
of God but yet they have not well why do they have not the Bible says because
they do what because they ask a miss that they may consume it upon their lust
you see if you are asking according to the lust of the flesh then God is not
going to answer that prayer you want to have your prayers answered you want to
have power with God in your prayers then you need to learn to have some control
over the flesh and control this old flesh and control yourself so that you
can learn what the will of God is so that you can ask according to the will
of God because if you ask according to the will of God the Bible makes it plain
that whatsoever you ask God will give it to you if you ask according to his will
now look back at what the Bible says in fact go back to hosea chapter number 12
and look at what the bible has say there in short you know israel and judah they
had become yo friends of the world how did they get to the point where now god
has become their enemy well because they have become friends of the world I'll
get hosea chapter number 12 and looking at verse number one see the Bible has
say there hosea chapter number 12 and verse number one and see what the Word
of God has say there hosea chapter number 12
and verse number one the Bible says this in hosea 12 and verse number one I

daily increases lies and desolation and they do make a covenant with who the

recompense him so Israel what had they done they had made a covenant with who
with the Assyrians now this was not God that had told them to do this they had
done this contrary to God and instead of trusting in God and
trusting in the Lord they've made a covenant with the
Assyrians and so thereby they have become a friend not of God but they have
become a friend of who of your Syrians you know this is a simple concept to
understand isn't it because there are certain people in this world that if you
are a friend of them that you cannot be a friend of somebody else right because
there's enmity between the two I mean listen I mean the world

Trump then you must be what anti Obama right yeah or if you're Pro Republican
you must be anti Democrat or vice versa and you know what because if you're a
friend of the Republicans you can't be a friend of the Democrats or even in your
own lives you've probably seen this from time to time with people in your odds
you may have two friends and they hate one another they can't stand one another
they don't get along with one another and if you're friends with one you can't
be friends with the other and so you kind of caught in the middle aren't you
that you have to make a choice as to which one is gonna be the better friend
as which one is the more godly friend which one are you going to stick with
because if you're friends with one you will not be able to be friends with the
other and so it comes down to this that Christians need to recognize that if you
are going to be friends with God if you're going to have the blessings of
God then you cannot be friends with the world but today Christians they want to
have it both ways don't they they want to have one foot in church and the other
foot in the world they want to be friends with the world while at the same
time they think that they can be friends with God and be used by God but the
Bible is clear that if you are a friend of the world you are it doesn't say you
might you are the enemy of God if you are the friend of this world now look
back at what the Bible says in Ezekiel 16 and look at verse number 28 and see
what the Bible says they remember the Israelites they had made
covenant with the Assyrians will get Ezekiel 16 look at verse number 28 and
see what the Bible has to say there Ezekiel chapter number 16 and verse
number 28 is each app turn number 16 and verse number 28 the Bible says right
there in Ezekiel 16 verse number 28 Bible says thou has played the whore
also with the Assyrians because that was insatiable yay the house plate
excuse me thou has played the harlot with them and yet could has not be
satisfied now has moreover multiplied by fornication in the land of Canaan unto
Chaldea and yet that was not satisfied here with now notice the correlation
here that God says they have played the whore with the Assyrians now do you
remember back in James chapter number 4 what did he call them he's called them
adulterers and adulteresses why because they had gone and committed spiritual yo
adultery with the world by going to the world by you know cheating on God so to
speak and being friends with the world they had become the enemy of God
according to the Bible now go to Ezekiel 23 look at verse number 9 and look what
the Bible says here Ezekiel chapter 23 and verse number 9 the Bible says this
in Ezekiel 23 verse number 9 Bible says wherefore I have delivered her into the
hand of her lovers into the hand of the Assyrians upon whom she did what she
doted let me ask you a question here tonight can you truly love your wife if
your doting on another woman do you truly love your wife in that case no you
don't love your wife would you and none of us would say that that man loves his
wife why because clearly he's not by going and being with another woman or
vice versa a woman being with another man she is not loving her husband and so
listen if we love the world Benna can we say that we want gone if we
are loving the world no we cannot but go to 1st John chapter number 2 look at
verse number 15 and you know what Christians need to
make a choice today and there are a lot of independent Baptists that need to
make a choice as to where they stand are they going to serve God are they going
to obey God or are they going to continue having one foot in the world
and one foot in church are they gonna continue just standing with the world
and what the world says and what the world does they going to continue
standing with the RUP tards out there for the Independent Baptist preachers
and listen these ruttman nights out there they just get weirder and stranger
by the minute I mean they say all these strange things like nobody was saved in
the Old Testament that nobody had salvation in the Old Testament that the
disciples didn't preach the gospel of Jesus Christ

burial and resurrection what did Jesus Christ say for as Jonas was three days
and three nights in the belly of the whale so shall also the Son of Man be

gospel day hey how about in the book of Galatians a Bible tells us that the
scripture foreseeing that God would justify the heathen preached before the
gospel unto Abraham saying in thee shall nations be blessed and so the gospel was
preached to Abraham but you know the the ruckman hikes out there they take that
scripture and they just try to twist it out of context don't they they take that
scripture and they'll say well God was just preaching to Abraham before the
gospel had come hey that's not what the scripture says I mean you've got to be a
grammatical idiot in order to make that assumption if you just go back to
grammar school you'd understand that that without that Scripture there is not
saying that God just preached to Abraham before the gospel came no he preached
the gospel before to Abraham is what the Bible is saying that he preached the
gospel to Abraham in the Old Testament hey how about the Isaiah chapter number
53 I mean good night you're gonna sit there and say that the gospel did not
exist when you've got Isaiah chapter 53 in the Old Testament which talks about
gee Jesus Christ you know being stricken I
mean being bit I mean being beaten and and all the
things that talks about him that entire chapters about Jesus Christ and what he
would go through you've got the scriptures that talk
about Jesus Christ being the son of God in the Old Testament I mean you've got
all these pictures throughout the Old Testament of salvation you know why
because Jesus Christ was not playing be Jesus Christ was playing a from the very
beginning salvation was the same way from the very beginning and you know and
independent Baptists they need to figure out what side they're on are they going
to continue siding with the rukmi Knights are they going to continue
allowing the Rutman eye to do their dirty work when these people aren't even
saved when these people don't believe the gospel when they preach another

I got news for you you continue siding up with those of the world and you be
friends with those from the world well you are become the enemy of God and it's
no wonder their churches are dying because what happens when you become the
enemy of God well what happened to the nation of Israel what did God do to them
then God became hid their enemy and God was the one who brought all that
judgment and wrath upon them and caused their solemn feast to be desolate and
caused everything there to to be taken away from them you know what the exact
same thing is going to happen in a pen at Baptist churches if they continue
being friends with the world if they continue being friends with the rukmi

be saved in the back of it he has a plan of salvation in there and it's all good

of living to be saved do you have to stop the way you're living
and live another way Hank that's works-based salvation and that's what

the very back it's got that back to her but you have people today and
independent Baptists they are friends with the world and they are friends with
the rukmi Knights and guess what's going to happen to them if they continue being
the enemies of God that they will be destroyed now look back at what 1st John
says and look at verse number chapter number 2 and verse number 15 first John
chapter number 2 and verse number 15 Bible says love not the world neither
the things that are in the world If any man love the world the love of
the Father once Bible saying is not in him so listen flat-out if you love the
world you're an enemy of God if you love the world you can sit there and say that
you have the love of God all you want but the Bible makes it plain the love of
the father is not in you if you of the world and what are Christians today all
about loving the things of the world now look back to what the Bible says in fact
go to Matthew chapter number 6 let's see what Jesus Christ told us there Matthew
chapter number 6 and look at verse number 19 Matthew chapter number 6 and
verse number 19 notice what the Bible says Matthew chapter number 6 verse
number 19 Bible says this in Matthew chapter number 6 and verse number 19 the
Bible says this right there it says lay not up for yourselves treasures upon
earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break through and
steal but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth
nor rust doth corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal for where
your treasure is there will your heart be also the light of the body is I if
therefore thine eye be single thy whole body shall be full white but if thine
eye be evil thy whole body shall be full of darkness if therefore the light that
is in thee be darkness how great is that darkness knows this
nope excuse me no man can serve two masters
why for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold to
the one and despise the other you cannot serve God and Mammon so guess what if
you love the world and you love the things of this world you love the
treasures of this world well the Bible makes it plain that you
are going to despise your other master because you can't serve two masters
you're either going to be a servant to the flesh or you're going to be a
servant unto God and if you are a servant unto the flesh then don't tell
me that you love God because the Bible is clear that you hate God the Bible's
clear that you despise God and that you are become an enemy of God according to
the Bible I mean look back what the Bible said their Bible said in verse 24
no man can serve what two masters and listen Christians need to get this
thought through their heads and listen I think it's important for preachers to
understand this that if you're going to serve God if you're going to be a
preacher you need to have the mindset that you would give everything up in
your life to serve God that you have to let go of your houses you have to let go
of your lands you have to let go of your families because you know what a
preacher a prophet is not without honor saving in his own country you know if
you become a preacher and you're a true preacher of the word of God your family
is not going to accept you I mean just mark it down that's why I would never
recommend for a preacher to go back to his hometown you know why because your
hometown they're not going to receive you if they didn't receive Christ you
think they're gonna receive you I mean listen if Christ came into his own in
his own received him not Jesus Christ said you know what and we
need to have this mindset that would that we are willing to lay everything
down for the cause of Christ but guess what that mindset isn't just for
preachers that mindset is for every one of us as a child of God that we ought to
be willing to separate from everything if it furthered the cause
of Christ we ought to be willing to lay down our houses or lands and listen up
or even our families our brothers our sisters our fathers our mothers our
daughters our sons I mean all of them if they go against God we ought to be
willing to separate from them rather than to separate from God because listen
if you love the world let's say your father your son your brother your
daughter whoever it is they go out and they go to the world and they become an
enemy of God if you go and your love them
well then was Bible say ababil says you become the enemy of God because how then
can you sit there and be their friend and be the friend of God at the same
time you can't you see and listen the Bible makes it plain that we need to be
willing to separate from both of them now take your Bibles go to Matthew
chapter number 6 not 6 Matthew 10 I'll get Matthew chapter number 10 and look
at verse number 34 Matthew chapter number 10 and verse number 34 Bible says
think not that I am come to send peace on the earth I came not to send peace
but a sword for I am come to set a man at variance against his father and the
daughter against her mother and the daughter-in-law against her
mother-in-law a man's foes shall be they of what his own household he that loveth
father or mother more than me is not worthy of me and he that loveth son or
daughter more than me is not worthy of me and he that taketh not his cross and
followeth after me he's not worthy of me he that findeth
his life shall lose it and he that loses his life for my sake shall what shall
find it he that receiveth you receiveth me and he that receiveth me receiveth
him that sent me now stop reading here what we just read in the Bible that if
you do not forsake the things of this world even your very loved ones I mean
those who you love the most the Bible says that you are not worthy of Christ
but yet Christians say they're all wrapped up in
their little worlds they're all wrapped up in the things of this world seeking
after the things of this world seeking after the money the wealth the pleasures
the careers of this world they're seeking out to the things of this world
and they have become literally become the enemy of God and these Christians
yeah they go to church they go to church and they work on bus routes and they do
all kinds of good works and the names of God but listen when you disobeyed God
and you sit there and your wife is out working a job and she's outside the home
and not taking care of the house like God has told her to do and in you're
both out there working nobody's raising the children and you're just giving the
children over to the Christian school are you really loving God the answer is
no because in order to love God and I will back this up tonight in order to
love God listen what does the Bible say you must keep the commandments of God if
you sit there and say that you love God and do not keep his Commandments the
Bible says you are a liar you want me back that up go to first John to look at
it real quick first John chapter number 2 and look over the Bible says there
first John chapter number 2 you didn't put this in my notes but let's go look
at it first John chapter number 2 look on down what the Bible says there first
John chapter number 2 looked down at verse number 3 and the Bible says and
hereby we do know that we know him if we do what keep his Commandments listen
knowing him is not the same as salvation you do not have to know God to be saved
you see you have all this junk out there with people that say well salvation is a
relationship that's knowing God having a relationship is knowing God and guess
what the Bible says that if you know him you'll do what keep his Commandments now
that's works isn't it so having a relationship does not save you so notice
knowing God is separate from salvation salvation is just by believing God right
then after we believe after we are saved then we should get to know God and how
do we get to know God by knowing his word and keeping his Commandments we'll
go with a Bible says here Paul says in verse number four he that saith I know
him and keepeth not his Commandments was Bob saying he's a liar and the truth is
not in him so you know what if you sit there and say that you know God yet you
don't keep the commandments of God you're alive you sit there and tell me
that you love God but yet you're not keeping his Commandments you're a liar
and the truth is not in you so let me ask you a question if it is a
commandment in God of God in anybody one debate this tonight is it a commandment
of God for women to stay home to raise the children and for the man to work by
the sweat of his brow isn't that what the Bible teaches
that's a commandment from God so if you deliberately I'm not saying in ignorance
but if you deliberately go against that and don't keep that commandment then you
therefore are not knowing God you're intentionally presumptuously breaking
the commandments of God and if you sit there and say that you know God when
you're intentionally breaking the commandments of God you are a liar and
the truth is not in you you see why churches have become literally the
enemies of God they think that they're doing great things for gone but they've
toned down on the Sonnen they're doing all these works the love works program
they've got the awana program the patches of pirate program they've got
the king's kids program they've got all these different programs going on
they've got their Christian school they've got their college not found in
the Word of God they've got all these things going on they've got their bus
route going on but then they're teaching their young couples for the women to go
out and to work a job they're teaching their young couples ago have a career
they're teaching their young couples to hey just wait a couple years once you
get married to have kids hey is that found in the world of
now what is the purpose of marriage in the first place
hey guess what if you want to wait to have kids don't get married I mean
that's the biblical solution to that because listen the purpose of marriage
is to have children and to raise a family and you know what the Bible does
never command you to abstain from having children and how do you do that well you
have to go the way of the world don't you you have to use some form of birth
control and so you've got all these churches push pushing forms of birth
control and colleges that are teaching their their their kids and their
colleges and their women in their colleges all about birth control and all
about the ways of the world and they've gone away from the ways of God can you
honestly tell me that they're loving God when they are deliberately going against
the commandments of God they have they're not loving God they are
deliberately go against the commandments of God therefore the truth is not in
them according to the Bible and they literally will become an enemy of God
and because they become an enemy of God then what happens then their children go
to the devil then their children each generation goes to the world before long
the entire church is filled with nothing but gray heads and when the gray heads
die off what happens to the church the church dies doesn't it it shuts down it
closes down why does it shut down and close down because they left off from
obeying the commandments of God they thought that there was a way that was
better they copied some man they copied somebody else instead of copying what
the Bible says and they've gone the way of the world and because they've loved
the world rather than loving God and loving His Word
they have become an enemy of God now look back over the Bible says in Hebrews
chapter number 11 and look what the Bible says there hebrews chapter number
11 will give verse number 14 or verse 13 hebrews chapter number 11 look at verse
number 13 the bible says this in hebrews chapter number 11 and verse number 13
the Bible says hebrews chapter number 11 and verse
number 13 the bible says this you know what before we read that let me make
this statement you know there's a generation that in our world that's been
called the greatest generation right what generation is that world war two
right those that fought in world war ii and i'm not diminishing from any of the
brave acts that they did in the war some of those men that that you know what did
some great brave acts many of them i'm sure believe that they were doing what
was right but when they came home from the war they failed because when they
came home from the war what did they continue doing their women continued
working jobs and they got their eyes off of the things of god and got him on the
things of the world and got him on all the money and all that and they gave us
one the worst generations that's ever came in the history of our nation and
that was the baby boomer generation that grew up in that baby boomer generation
was a bunch of hippies who were all hooked on drugs the majority of them all
hooked on drugs and out there yo flower children they had Woodstock going on and
they were hooked on the the rock n roll in all of the that kind of nonsense and
now it's those people who are in leadership positions today in our
government isn't it I mean it's the baby boomers who are the ones in leadership
the kids that were once hippies hooked on the rock and roll in the drugs
they're the ones running the government you wonder why our government so bad
you wonder why they're so anti God and hate God you know why because the
so-called Greatest Generation failed and you know what I'm sick and tired of
Christians glorifying the acts that men did in war and not glorifying what good
godly men and women have done in raising their children right
yo it's greater than any war you could ever win out there than any battle you
could ever fight on any battlefield out there than any brave act you could ever
do whether it was fighting against the Nazis or whether it was fighting in
Korea or whether it was fine in Vietnam or Afghanistan or Iraq the greatest act
that you could do ought to be lifted up and exalted raise
your kids right to raise him according to the Word of God and that generation
although yeah they might done some great things in the war when they came home
they failed because they failed to raise their children according to the Word of
God and because of that what has happened to our nation a nation that
used to want to be a nation that was founded on the principles of God is a
nation that now has become the enemy of God a nation now that does not love God
does not love his word does not love his Commandments is constantly trying to
take God out of everything and follow more and more in the ways of the world
and Mark it down when a nation goes that route where they become the enemy of God
it will get to the point where God becomes their enemy and soon after the
wrath of God in the judgment of God follows and it does not matter how great
they are look back at Hebrews chapter number 11 look at what the Bible had to
say there hebrews chapter number 11 look at verse number 13 and the Bible says
this in Hebrews chapter number 11 verse 13 these all died in faith not having
received the promises but having seen them afar off and were persuaded of them
and embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims where
does it sound like they were too attached to his hearse I mean the Bible
says and that they confessed that what that they were strangers in pilgrims on
this earth they weren't attached to this earth they were ready to let the peace
of this earth go they were ready to wreak go of it and to go wherever God
told him go think about Abraham what did he do God told him to take a journey and
he went not knowing whithersoever he went I mean you think about all these
men that this chapter talks about and they obeyed God through what through
faiths because they didn't see the endgame they didn't see where it was
going to lead to but they had faith in God and trusted in God and therefore
they obtained good report and they recognized that
they were strangers and pilgrims and you know what Christians need to have the
same attitude today and recognize that in this world were strangers and
pilgrims that we would go wherever God wants us to go then we'd serve wherever
God wants us to serve listen do you think I'd be in New Orleans if I was
just calling my flesh I mean good night if I was following my flesh there's no
way in the world I'd be in this city or near this city because this is a pretty
wicked City is that I mean listen if I was following the flesh I'd be somewhere
else making as much money as I wanted to and I guarantee you'd be somewhere I'd
be away from all the crime the drugs the gangs alcohol all this nonsense that you
see going on in this city but you know what why am I here because I'm a
stranger in a pilgrim you see I'm just passing through this country look back
what the Bible says here Bible says right there in Hebrews chapter number 11
and verse number where do we leave off verse 14 the Bible says for they that
say such things declare plainly that they seek a country and truly if they
had been mindful of that country from whence they came out they might have had
opportunity to have returned but now they desire a better country that is in
heavenly wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God for he hath prepared
for them a city you think about it we've got a city that's way better than
anything in this world I mean the inheritance that we have coming I mean
nothing in everything in this world pales in comparison I mean the glory
thereof the Bible says it's not shown us now you know I'm just paraphrasing what
it says back in Romans but that glory thereof is not manifested yet now what
we shall be you know there's a glory coming when we're gonna have a spiritual
body when we're gonna dwell in that city the New Jerusalem and all the things of
the world now they pale in comparison but you know what if you don't want to
be the toilet cleaner if you don't want to be the doorkeeper in heaven then
maybe on to start serving God because you're a place in that city
is directly related your rewards and where you live and where you serve are
directly related to how you serve God now because if you're faithful now and
you serve God now and you obey God now and you keep his Commandments the Bible
is plain that if you are faithful you know what you're gonna roll over ten
cities not just one I mean God gave you ten cities but guess
what if you're not faithful to God you're saved yeah you're gonna have a
place in that city you're going to be in the kingdom of God but if you don't
serve God now if y'all worried about the things of this world well that's your
reward now you seen you're going to enjoy that reward here on this earth of
the earthly things for what 80 years but how about eternity you know what I'd
rather enjoy my rewards then that lasts forever where neither moth nor rust doth
corrupt where those rewards cannot be stolen where they are not corruptible
where they will not be taken away but if you do not serve God now then you're not
gonna have those rewards there and you're just gonna be the doorkeeper
you're gonna be the one doing the bidding of the guy that's ruling over
the ten cities you see there's gonna be the guy rolling the ten cities and then
there's gonna be the guy that just does his bidding
that just does whatever he tells them to do there's going to be a guy that's just
a doorkeeper there's gonna be a guy that maybe he's the executioner there's going
to be a guy that's you know just doing the the menial task that's doing little
things here there hey do you want that job or do you want to rule over ten
cities I don't know about you but I want to roll over ten cities I want to roll
over whatever God will give me but you know what if you don't serve God now if
you are mindful of that country from when she came out you'll have
opportunity to return you see that was Israel's problem wasn't it when they
came out of Egypt what did they do they were mindful of the country where they
came out they started remembering all the good lis things that they had back
in the land of Egypt they started remembering all the fruit that they had
you see they didn't remember how they were being beaten they didn't remember
how they had ask masters over them they don't
remember those things they remember the bad things all they wanted to remember
was the good things that they had then they were mindful of that country that
they came out and they murmured against Moses and because they murmured against
Moses there was wrath from God upon the congregation you know what you all have
the wrath of God in your life become an enemy of God love this world seek after
the things of this world I guarantee you you won't be rewarded by God you know
that's how you become an enemy of God is by loving the things of the world look
back what the Bible says here in fact you know what go to 1st Peter chapter
number 2 look what the Bible says there just turn to the right in your Bible go
past the book of James hit 1st Peter 1st Peter chapter number 2 and look down
at verse number 9 I'm sorry not ya verse number 9 first Peter chapter number 2
and verse number 9 the Bible says this in 1st Peter chapter number 2 and verse
number 9 but you are a chosen generation a royal priesthood an holy nation a
peculiar people that ye what should show forth the praises of him who has called
you out of darkness into his marvelous light which in time past were not a
people but are now the people of God which had not obtained mercy but now
have obtained mercy look in verse 11 dearly beloved I beseech you as
strangers and one pilgrims hey because we're strangers and pilgrims what should
we do abstain from fleshly lusts which war
against the soul you see the lust of the flesh they constantly war against your
soul and the Bible commands us as strangers and pilgrims not to be given
into those things because you know what the things of this world they will only
satisfy you for a little while and the truth they don't satisfy you do you then
you can have the best car in the world and before long you're gonna get so used
to it you're gonna get you know worn out with it you want a different one right I
mean you can have a Lamborghini in before long you're gonna want a Porsche
I mean you could have the biggest house in the world the best
house in the world with all the the the best toys in the world before long you
want another one you know why because the things of this
world they don't satisfy but you know what the things in the world to come
they do satisfy because you know what then we're not going to have a sinful
flesh that lust after the things of this world but until that time we have to
learn to control that flesh we have to learn to control the lust of the flesh
and to live as Pilgrims and strangers in this world and you know what that means
that we might have to sacrifice some things that means in order to serve God
we might have to give some things up in order to serve God and to see people
save we might have to give some of our time we might have to give some of our
money we might have to have a few less toys we might have to say goodbye to
some of the old friends of the world if we're going to be the friend of God if
we're going to be the servant of God and you know what you know why do we do that
because we are strangers and pilgrims in this earth take your Bibles go back to
lamentations 2 let's finish out that chapter there lamentations chapter
number 2 we'll just look at a couple last things there and see what the Bible
says lamentations chapter number 2 and look at verse number 9 the Bible says
this in lamentations chapter number 2 verse number 9 the Bible says her gates
are sunk into the ground he has destroyed and broken her bars her
King and her princes are among the Gentiles the law is no more her prophets
also find no vision from the Lord so God's no longer preaching to her or
speaking to her preachers huh God's no longer speaking to her prophet to his
prophets you know why is that why is God no
longer speaking to his prophets you know what we see the same thing going on
today that there are preachers that have done great things for God in the past I
mean they were so nurse they saw people say they did great things for God in the
past but it's like God's not speaking to him anymore
I mean they've lost off they have no more
gin and now they promote all kinds of wickedness the great examples Bob gray
right I mean Bob gray what did he do I mean he used to be a solar used to be
one that promoted that was big on Sol in but within the last couple years whether
you start promoting born that way ministries so are promoting that evil
wicked book I mean sorry promoting this book that that's trying to allow the
queers to speak into into Baptist churches start promoting that non-test
nonsense SN Davis same way came out with a clip you last year whenever it was and
said I am NOT a heterosexual and neither are you
I mean thinking about the foolishness of that statement the ridiculousness of
that statement I mean listen whether these preachers or preachers that had
done great things for God in the past but God is no longer speaking to them
why because they've left off from the law of God the law is no more look it
back at what the Bible says in verse 14 their Bible says thy prophets have seen
vain and foolish things for thee doesn't that sound familiar what we just said
and they have not discovered dine iniquity to turn away like captivity but
have seen for the false burdens and causes of banishment one of the
preachers not done they've not discovered dying iniquities to turn away
the high captivity you know what they didn't do they didn't discover the
people's iniquities what does that mean they stopped preaching on sin they
stopped preaching hard against the things of this world and they started
going to the things of this world and because they stopped preaching on sin
they didn't turn away the captivity of the people in a very real sense here in
the Book of Jeremiah right because they go into all kinds of sin then they go
into captivity but you know what also in a spiritual sense sense if preachers do
not preach hard against sin and on sin then the people will be given into
captivity and why is that well because the Bible says this in the book of
Romans chapter number six the Bible as know ye not that to whom ye yield
yourselves servants to obey his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin
unto death or of obedience unto righteousness so you know what whichever
one you yield yourself to you're going to be a servant to that you yield
yourself a servant to sin will you become in bondage to sin you're going
into captivity to sin you got to serve that and because preachers have stopped
preaching hard against sin then the people go into captivity don't they
because preachers stop preaching against fornication whether people do go into
fornication because they stop preaching hard against adultery what do the people
do go into adultery because the preacher stopped preaching hard against
drunkenness and start saying yeah it's okay to socially drink whether people do
they start socially drinking before long they're a drunkard and they're overcome
and they now are a prisoner and in bondage and even not just in a physical
sense but even in a physical sense right because then they become addicted to
that and they're given over to that they're brought into captivity to that
hey the preacher stopped preaching hard against sodomy and what happens in
churches they start bringing in the sodomites welcoming in the sodomites and
before long the church is overrun the church is going to be destroyed because
now you've brought in the enemies of God and when you start bringing in the
Assyrians when you make a covenant with the Assyrians you're no longer a friend
of God you're an enemy of God when you bring in the sodomites you might as well
brought in the Assyrians you've made a covenant with the Assyrians you've loved
the Assyrians you've loved the world and you have become the enemy of God and
Christians today they want to fight over what bathroom they can use or not or
they want to fight over whether they can be married or not hey that's going to be
the fight you know the fight ought to be whether they have the right to live or
not because that's what the Bible says that the death penalty was given for
them by the way that's not the only thing that the death penalty
giving for I believe adulterers should be put to death as well I mean think
about it that was the law in our country that adulterers were put to death it was
literally against the law you think there would be a whole lot of people
communion dole tree and you know what that would protect families wouldn't it
that would that then would help to ensure that you know that father he's
not gonna go cheating on his wife because the potential is he could be put
to death I mean the death penalty I'll be given for rapists right for
pedophiles I mean that ought to be the death penalty given for that it would be
a whole lot less of that going on if that were the penalty but guess what the
law is no more and because the law is no more they've become an enemy of God look
back at what a Bible has to say go to Philippians chapter number three and
look at what the Bible has to say there what's the end of those that are the
enemies of God well look at what the Bible says Philippians chapter number
three and look at verse number 18 Philippians chapter number three and
verse number 18 Galatians Ephesians Philippians Philippians chapter number
three verse number 18 and the Bible says right there in Philippians 3 verse
number 18 for many walk of whom I have told you often and now tell you even
weeping that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ whose end is what
destruction whose God is their belly and whose glory is in their shame who mind
what earthly things you see because they've minded earthly things their God
is their belly their God is whatever they want to do and isn't that how
Christians define things now today that they will define why they do or don't do
things because of what they want to do instead of what God wants instead of
dressing how God wants in the dress they dress how they want a dress I mean they
dress according to the world why because they like that outfit because they like
this because they like that they listen that this kind of music life
because they like that kind of music hey they my
earthly things hey if your mind and earthly things you're on the path to
become in an enemy of God you give yourself over to those things you give
yourself over to the things of the world and you are on that path you know the
attitude of the Christian ought to be this that whatsoever
you do whether you eat or whether you drink the Bible says do all to the glory
of God hey even if I eat and drink I mean even the very things that I put
inside my body I ought to do to the glory of God but
you know what we have a hard time with that don't we let's be honest I mean
most of us we have a hard time with that one right what we eat and what we drink
we're not doing it to the glory of God we're doing it to fulfill the lusts of
the flesh aren't we I mean when we eat and when we
drink we we got to grab those snack cakes we got to drink that coke why
because we're fulfilling the lust of the flesh
we're not fulfilling what God is told to do hey listen I'm not telling you that
it's wrong every once awhile to have a snack cake goes to this summer I gotta
work on in my life as well I'm not telling you it's wrong every once a
while to treat yourself to have that coke to treat yourself with those things
but you know what we need to do a little bit better on that don't we
because you know what whatsoever you do whether you eat or drink do it all unto
the glory of God that means even that down to the simplest minut thing that I
would do in my life something as simple as eating when you go home and you have
that snack tonight when you break open that bag of chips tonight why don't you
ask yourself am i doing this to the glory of God or am i doing it to fulfill
the flesh you see it we fulfill the flesh a whole lot more than we think we
do right you see don't sit there you see what that shows you by the way don't sit
there judging everybody else and saying that you're not going down that path
because we can take something as simple as that is whether you eat and drink and
we you can say we've all done that we've all fulfilled the lusts of the flesh
we've all given ourselves over to that at one
or another and you know what we need to focus on doing it a little bit better we
need to focus on pleasing God more in our lives that we would give ourselves
over to God doing whatsoever we do to the glory of God do you have that
mindset in your life or is it about fulfilling the lust of the flesh ask
yourself that because if it's about fulfilling the lusts of the flesh
then you are on the path to becoming an enemy of God and the path of that is
destruction the end of that person is death the end of that person is sin and
sin leads to death and destruction in your life let's finish this out go to
first Corinthians chapter 15 look at verse number 24 let me just read this
for you in fact the Bible says this in Philippians 15 verse 24 then come at the
end when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God even the father when he
shall put down all rule and all authority and power for he must reign
tell you've put all enemies under his feet the last enemy that shall be
destroyed is death you see one day that's going to be taking care of that
last enemy death it's going to be destroyed one day and the end of all
those who remain the enemies of God those who have not believed in the Lord
Jesus Christ their end is to be cast into the lake of fire
along with death right because death and hell are cast where into the lake of
fire according to the Bible what is the end of all those who are the enemies of
God destruction that's what it is and so you have a choice in your life do you
want the blessings or you want the curses do you want life or do you want
death you see that choice is up to you and we're not talking about salvation
here tonight because I believe all of you are saved here this evening you know
what we're talking about whether you have God's rewards or not whether you
have the rewards of God in your life or the curses of God in your life whether
in the future you're going to be rewarded by God or you're going to be a
doorkeeper which one is it gonna be well the choice is up to you whether you
fulfill what God wants or what you want let's say in a word of pray will be
dismissed tonight dear Heavenly Father we think what you've shown us here
tonight and you were is that you'd help us to take these
things to search him out to study him to apply them to our lives father and Jesus
Christ's name I pray amen or dismissed this evening
