hey guys and welcome back to my channel so as you know I have been loving doing
the I tried following a blank tutorial I've already done kathleenlights and
Casey Holmes and when I did the poll on my community tab Jaclyn Hill was an
option and she actually got a lot of votes so I thought that I would do a
little twist on this challenge and I'm gonna be recreating Jaclyn
hills first makeup tutorial I think that this is gonna be really really fun to
see how far she's come I feel like I'm gonna be really inspired
since I did create two of these types of videos already I'm posting this on an
off day so it's just like a bonus video for you guys just because I am really
loving making these videos but I didn't want to you know overwhelm you too much
I haven't pulled up right here it is her Kim Kardashian holiday makeup tutorial
so you guys will notice I've already got my base done and that's because she goes
straight into eyes this is more focused on the eyes so I've already got my
complexion and my brows on and we're ready to start the eyeshadow so let's
get into it
picture she has the prettiest eyes okay
so again very wearable holiday looking spider but the quality of videos going
to be on the cover of Glamour and it's like a New Year's Eve festive fun girly
like sleepover inspired and I saw the promo shots for it and I was like oh my
gosh yes don't think that like I'm trying to say I look like her or
anything I know I get it I'm not cute if you're not so annoyed
that you have and turn out this video already keep watching okay so I have a
honey dawn my foundation okay I didn't do my concealer and my eye primer I'm
just tearing my eyes are still bloodshot I'm absolutely exhausted I was thing I'm
gonna do is I'm going to take a highlight color underneath my brow
because Kim is always beautifully highlighted you have a TV in the
background like right here any color from this entire palette would work I'm
gonna be taking you dazzle like right there skin tone anything like okay I'm
gonna take that I'm using the Jaclyn home palette out cuz I just think cool
so I'm gonna take them out my brows are hideous right now she needs to talk more
positively about herself because she was really doing a good job just push that
around okay I don't take it all the way in under here okay so once you get the
eyeshadow on you're gonna realize that you don't really want too much highlight
there if you decide otherwise you can go back and do that later
otherwise just hit it there stiff brush anything you have it doesn't matter and
it's synthetic natural whatever I'm just taking one like this this is I'm just
going to do this under brow I've never started with a brow highlight like this
it's kind of cool to see like how makeup has changed from I mean this video was
made in 2011 you guys that's a long time ago
okay Mac and I'm going to dip it in a pigment called vanilla pavement and
it just looks like that it's a pigment I literally use this pigment probably I'm
not even exaggerating like 70 times in my life and look at how it is still to
the very top so I don't have that Mac pigment but I've got one from makeup
geek this is called light year and it seems like something similar so this is
what I'm gonna use I ran out of these in my life and never
even close so anyways I'm taking this color because it is going to give you
more of like a cool glow and not as warm you could do this with a gold but Kim
look she has cool and warm tones she has you know cool lips and then she's got a
long tone in the crease so we're gonna put a cool tone here just to kind of I
think might be more tone but as you can see I'm not going all the way over to
this crease right here and lo all the way into this crease right here
oh whoops gonna put the most generous amount right here in the center of the
guy okay right there run it up over I'm just pushing that on there now any light
shade like this is gonna work Bobby there's a little bit of shimmer in it I
mean you can use most neutral color you have and this look is still gonna pretty
much look the same you're just gonna see this when you look down and close your
eyes now for the rest of the eye I'm gonna be using two colors pause it
really quick just gonna keep putting on this pigment it looks kind of similar to
her she's filming and super dim light but you can actually see her glitter
better than you can see my camera picking up I'm trying to keep it in the
center like she said using texture which has a little bit of shimmer in it and
not much it's like this one right here and when it's on the lids you're not
gonna really see any shimmer payoff whatsoever and then I'm gonna be taking
a soft brown and soft Brown is more of a neutral tone where texture is much more
warm I'm gonna be taking this shade this look will really look good on everybody
Jaclyn Hills I'm pretty fair to dark-skinned my eyes brown eyes
especially with this texture shade if you have a green eyes blue eyes this
will really make them pop so I'm gonna take the shape texture and I'm just
gonna go in right here my crease and I'm not gonna go above my crease I'm gonna
stay right here and like the depths of it
staying low looks like that I mean at first it's not gonna be so cute but
we'll get there she really knows how to explain things
until like that's one thing that she's always bring her atop of that vanilla
pigment that we put on it or to this side okay no more dollar desktops
another pigment really won't be very vibrant whatsoever it'll just be a
little touch a little something in the center of the eyes switch my brush
really the same thing to the other side you're gonna pause it and I'm gonna
switch my brush so it's a little bit more precise in the crease I think I
accidentally put it higher than sheeted see even in her first tutorial she had
some skills okay I think that's what she's got she looks something like this
you know it's not precise or anything just thrown in there and now I'm gonna
do that other colors something recommend looks worse than her like this just any
neutral light brown this is an amazing room for blending anything it doesn't
matter what colors you're working with this is all great okay so I'm just gonna
take that oh it doesn't Facebook that I'm gonna use bingo fade over top of
that shade we put down and above this is her transition operator longer and not
as dense because you don't have to be precise with it whatsoever you can just
work everywhere look your one on the lid over top of that vanilla just to blend
it all together Oh on the lid too like that and honestly all I know is gonna do
is just give a little highlight in the center of the lid with just a tiny bit
of shimmer and that's it I'm just looking over that then the next step is
gonna be eyeliner and Kim has a very dramatic wing I'm gonna pause for that
because I need a time to do my winged liner so I'm just going to catch up okay
look and so we're just gonna put your liner on like normal and then give it a
real intense lift up and out well I do so she's already got hers on she's like
just apply it like normal that hers already looks really great so I'm gonna
take the Maybelline eye studio gel eyeliner it looks like she's got just a
nice solid lying across the entire lid so I'm gonna try to recreate it
like way close to the mirror she took it all the way into the inner corner as
well I used to do my eyeliner like this all the time in high school because I
was obsessed with Bobby Brown and this is kind of how she does her eyeliner she
has like the gel liner and it's just one line straight across so it's so fun for
me to like do it again a little throwback okay I think that my eyeliner
looks as close to hers as possible so let's keep going who is I take my brush
and I kind of go under this area and then I swoop up and out I'm not a team
yet with the line of your eyes from the corner of your eye to your eyebrow okay
well I just try that I can't see I think she went like this
and there's the start of it okay oh I've actually never done that okay and that's
okay way I'm gonna catch up to her really quick oh my gosh so you're in
luck I don't think I've ever done a better wing miner in my life that when
you first start doing winged eyeliner it is not easy it honestly took me years to
do no steam I've never done that where like I took it from right here I
frustrated just keep practicing buy a cheap eyeliner and just work at it that
makes it so much easier to like see Scalia didn't push for where to go and
I'm not happy Oh note like an idiot I took okay so I'm
just gonna finish off this I really quick oh my gosh you guys this is so
awesome like literally I don't think I've ever done my winged liner that fast
and this good ever like that looks pretty good to me huh this one got a
little weird okay I'm gonna take my tart eyeliner I've been loving this I've been
using this and like every tutorial this is the TARDIS double take eyeliner I
love it cuz it has like the pencil on one side and then the liquid on the
other so I'm just going to line the waterline down here
I just scribbled my eyeball and I took it all the way into the inner corner
like she has it on top only in the outer corner right here oh I don't go all the
way in because if you stay right here in the outer corner it'll give a super
super jet black on the outside and it'll help that we need effect okay so I'm
just going to line it on just the outer corner like she said even in 2011 you
guys Jaclyn knew how to teach makeup like she really goes through and teaches
you why she's doing it like she knew her stuff even in 2011 this one I'm gonna
dip it in a texture that shade that we had and our crease up in here oh oh okay
coming back and right underneath it in the outer corner right here and I'm just
gonna wait it's so doomed in I love it dust that
across the whole way I'm sorry not laid bottom part of my eye
okay and it's gonna drag some of that smolder down which is good we want that
I gotta keep on smudging I'm trying to drag down some of that eyeliner not sure
if my eyeliner is like the same as hers as far as formula goes so I have to add
a little more eyeliner add false lashes and I will be right back
so now I am and I'm just going to add a little bit more of my eyeliner on the
lower lash line and kind of try to smudge it out because hers is a lot more
smudge than I made mine that seemed a little bit more accurate so it seems
like she just put lashes on I don't think she put mascara on yet so I'm just
gonna put on my house of lashes gym mirror light lashes the lashes are on so
let's see what she is next really as fullness and fluffiness to
this look um so I'm gonna just put on a coat of mascara on my bottom lashes
because Kim likes the dramatic bottom lashes which I do as well
so it definitely opens them up he makes your eyes appear much bigger I love how
there's the TV in her back I don't just appear clumpy or too thick
I just want them really light okay okay so now I'm gonna zoom out so wait a
minute and since her falsies were a little bit more intense I'm just going
to apply a light coat of mascara underneath my lashes to blend the two
together and to like make it a little bit more voluminous that you can see
everything else did they enters white eyeshadow from sorry doesn't matter what
shadow it is I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna just dab it
she'd like a nice bow to my cheekbones this is something that she does almost
with every look I've ever seen she always has a highlight here and you can
put it directly under that eye and that wing right over the highlighting coming
up before and anybody get that some highlight I did not know what highlight
was and and by the way I'm using her palette for
this and then you can take it and put it right on your Cupid's bow
she knew what like she knew what all that was I didn't know what a Cupid's
bow was I never knew how to highlight down the center of the face she brought
the highlight a little bit higher up here but apparently that's how Kim had
it and then we're gonna take some down the center of the nose and I'm gonna
take sound on my finger and put it on the Cupid's bow
cuz when you put on that pink lip they don't really make it pop okay I'm going
to use pinch of peach by Mac last time okay that's using what is I'm gonna use
this shade right here it's some makeup geek blush bring it too far up you don't
want to like put a blob right there you're gonna have more like a doll look
okay you kind of want to scoop under the cheekbones like there okay just lightly
air it out okay okay now moving on to the lips
one moment please gotta finish the blush okay I'm gonna take 20 young young which
was a limited edition color by Mac taken glass I was looking for a lipstick that
would kind of match that color and the one that I found that I think is pretty
close is from Estee Lauder it's their pure color love lipsticks in the shade
naughty nice so I'm just going to apply that really quick I think that's a
pretty good match let's see what she has for us next which is from Mac as always
it's called sloth I'm gonna use this cloth and I'm gonna put that all over
the lips
oh the finished look okay wait I'm just gonna finish up for playing the gloss
that is a pink lip if I've ever seen one but that is the completed look what do
you guys think I definitely think it's so interesting to see like the different
makeup trends and how much it's changed from 2011 till now like she didn't even
do an inner corner highlight which I know now she would always always
remember to do that so it's just cool to see how she's evolved I just think it's
so fun to see where people started because everybody who's successful in
anything started somewhere you know so it's like really cool to see if
Jaclyn first video and to see her just you know being vulnerable and
putting herself out there like I doubt she ever thought that she would have
like a palette with morphe when she was filming this video do you know what I
mean like it's just really really cool and really inspiring for me and I'm sure
it's inspiring for some of you guys too who maybe are starting a channel here on
YouTube or starting any sort of dream of yours I just think that like it's so
cool to see it all happen anyway I thought that was really fun for me to
recreate her first makeup tutorial if I'm honest this isn't a look that I
would probably do myself obviously she got inspiration from a Kim Kardashian
photo shoot so I guess this probably was the style in 2011 but regardless I do
still feel like she did a really great job of teaching and I'm telling you that
winged liner technique is fabulous so even in her first video there's really
great techniques and really good things to take away from it so I hope you guys
liked that video that was so fun for me to do if you guys want to see more
videos from me please make sure to hit the subscribe button on your way out and
