see this we can peep except off the couch be back tomorrow but Grif and I
are taking over with Rachel wonderful bigger with it I love when we come in
with this kind of dessert yeah they don't usually let the swamp
come in they got all these DC people right now but right this is the kind of
uses that get you pumped up it's super early you got to get excited you got to
get pumped that's not the energy energy we need the coffee at home get your
coffee stay in bed yeah because DC is taken over and we
will tell you everything that you need to know well you gonna see back for a
couple days that's right so I would to see back listen guys it was a twenty
second time I've covered see back first time was 1995 new gamers had just taken
over as Speaker of the House for the first time in 40 years in every year I
really look forward to a carrier you the first year in 1995 I was Oliver North's
radio producer common since radio with Ollie north and we were doing radio row
at that time there's only about four or five now there's hundreds of radio shows
and an internet broadcast at that first one the mainstream media didn't take
CPAC seriously and oh wait not much has changed
well listen it's a very important speech in present Trump gave a political speech
and he did something and we're gonna talk about everything here cuz there was
something for everybody in a red meat fire up the base speech but he addressed
the cup not being complacent a challenge the Republicans have once word about the
midterms maybe he wants to get people Pumped Up let me let you hear from the
President himself he see the word really is complacent
people get complacent it's a natural instinct you get you just won and now
you're happy and you're complacent don't be complacent okay don't be complacent
because if they get in they will repeal your tax cuts they will put judges in
that you wouldn't believe they'll take away your second Amendment which we will
never allow they'll take away you sack of the moon
what's important for him to do this because there really is an enthusiasm
gap I mean Democrats are going to go to the pole and Republicans are and a lot
of independent publicans have won most of the special elections nonetheless
they have and they're very happy with what's happening but sometimes when
you're happy you're also as he said a little complacent it's harder to get to
the video it's a little more taxing to get to the polls that's right you know
so Ronald Reagan's from 13 times to CPAC and he understand
he understood the the need to be close to the base right to the impact that
that CPAC conference had in speaking to the base this of course an uphill battle
and so I think President Trump really took a risk a lot of politicians won't
which is to admit hey we're gonna lose guys unless you fire it up and he's
talking to the base at base to don't get completely he has a strong hand at CPAC
that a lot of people don't want to admit he has because a couple of months ago
wasn't it wasn't a year ago it was a couple months ago around Christmas when
mainstream media all the Democrats Nancy Pelosi if the crumbs people are gonna
die the tax cuts not gonna help bonus after bonus after bonus and now we see
these polls just this past week saying more than a majority of the country
believes the tax cut is a good thing he has a stronger hand to bring to voters
he does Injection he was in the room she was on handi last night here's what she
says about the energy in that room you know what's amazing is the energy in the
room when the president spoke was very uplifting it was optimistic and it
reflects the fact that probably and as long as I can remember we have a
president who actually fulfilled the promises he made during the campaign the
president was firm he was funny he was personal and he was resolute resolute
and making sure that American confidence is up that underemployment unemployment
is down and that the American people understand that they have the right to
make a living they have the right to be able to provide for their families and
they have a right to secure and safe cities he hit all the notes he hit it
out of the park judge Jeanine is also taking the main stage there but let me
for the reporter sitting in the room my absolute favorite moment was Trump being
Trump in an off-the-cuff moment noticing himself on the mirror and admiring his
hair wait wait he's never self-deprecating right listen to this by
the way what a nice picture that is look at that I'd love to watch that guy speak
I try like hell to hide that ball spot folks I work hard does it look bad hey
we're hanging in we're hanging in it we're hanging in there right together
we're hanging in yes together with his hair hanging in it was interesting when
I saw him from behind it started to understand it started to come together
for me a little more Howard actually comes together in the back to cover the
false fight at all it all makes sense now
yeah but he's actually being transparent about it now he's like hey well he hats
you because remember he was up on he went up on a plane not long ago and it
blew over in violet I think he had to address that people wanted to know about
it no but this this particular clip really made the hair part here's the
thing when he was talking about it you heard the crowd just screaming they
loved it and so I did something for us I positioned myself right outside those
doors the end of the speech when you got the jail break if you will of all the
people spilling out and in tuk two people immediately after to see what
they thought of it here's what we put together for you I think this is really
where Trump excels you know I mean that people may not love the way he says
everything but he catches the crowd he stands back he claps with you he really
enjoys the collective of it he's not taking the elitist he'll let the praise
come to him he's being part of the crowd he's talking saying what he believes and
he really understands that people aren't looking for someone to talk down to them
and and seem superior I was totally overwhelmed with all the promises made
and all the promises kept and to hear from the president and he can repeat it
over and over again it sounds fresh and new to me it's time I hear it I really
enjoyed it up I like what he's doing you know as he said in his first year he's
gotten a lot more done than most presidents have in their first year and
he's doing a lot for the people this country and I really appreciate
them it showed that he is also an entertainer and a president and why
America loves him so much yeah you don't get that on a lot of other channels and
it was funny because you had people at MSNBC and elsewhere attacking the
president for he's talking about his bald spot and there's all these serious
issues and then they were saying he covered 31 different topics in an hour
and 50 when Barack Obama did 31 Thompson this guy's got a mastery he can be funny
he talked about North Korea he covered all kinds of ground folks
he didn't say everything that everybody wanted him to say but he for example
went after North Korea we didn't get into that yet we'll get into the
substance but yeah he had some fun this is the base they don't like what he's
likable they try so hard you know their whole thing of the resistance was don't
normalize them and they and this is the deal this is what people love about it
ultimately he more than any other politician I've ever seen is better than
Barack Obama he understands the connection between theater and
entertainment and politics he's doing I mean he sounded like a guy at a bar you
know shooting the breeze you know next year with the cold beer I used to hear
that about George W Bush when I was covering him and he got elected twice
that's right this is way more entertaining you you're on the edge of
your seat because you just don't know what you're gonna get so there was some
fun yesterday there was some serious talk as well and then there's some
really serious talk and some serious news breaking overnight a disturbing
update frankly on the deadly school shooting in parkland Florida we're now
learning not one but four Broward County deputies reportedly waited outside the
school outside the school while the gunman opened fire taking of course 17
lives now this is according to sources familiar with the Coral Springs Police
Department down in Florida whose officers ran inside the building to try
and stop the shooter this is being reported by CNN but remember the Broward
County Sheriff was on CNN at that town hall a few days ago talking about how
they did all they could folks to save lives and you know meanwhile there's
more details coming out about the tip that the FBI failed to investigate the
Wall Street Journal reporting the anonymous woman called the
agency more than a month before the shooting saying she feared Nicholas Cruz
would quote get into a school and just shoot the place up I know he's going to
explode I'm not sure she could have been clear
no and we're hearing more details that he brought a bird into his house and cut
it open on the kitchen counter I mean these are such troubling disturbing
facts remember when the father of meadow Pollock stood up in the White House and
he said I'm pissed that's how America feels right now the
more details that come out we are pissed off at every turn the government failed
us you they say see something say something people softly yeah yeah I said
it the FBI didn't listen it appears like local police and the Sheriff's Office
didn't listen and then maybe compounding that nothing could be worse than the
tragedy of all the lives lost right so all this political noise and everything
else right but the fact that the sheriff I was down there briefly I don't
exaggerate for about a day last week when it first happened to help out with
our coverage or Miami burger was leading the way I happened to be down there and
just talking to people they were off the beginning really rallying of course
around the sheriff sheriff Israel in Broward County who was on top of the
situation but then in the last week this story has turned to the point where he's
out there on CNN at this town hall a couple days ago saying we did all we
could we need the young people to stand up and tell these politicians gun
control and all of these things and he said we did all we could and I'm
paraphrasing what he said rallying this crowd thousands of people and he didn't
he knew then he had to know the facts yeah he did not his department his
Sheriff's Department did not do oh it was very duplicitous he was shifting the
blame because he knew the next day he was not going to be able to hide that
information that you don't escape well Laura Ingraham had the president of the
Broward Sheriff's Union on her show last night here's what he had to say about
the Broward County School Board some of the fault that I put on the Broward
County School Board for years they know that the schools have been soft targets
and they claim that they want to have better police presence inside the
schools and they want to tougher security but yet they do not want to
cough up the money to pay for that better
and fortify their schools and have better designs they don't want that and
then when they are fortunate enough to have a school resource deputy on scene
an armed police presence a lot of the liberal thinking principals that are on
campus there they don't want the police officers making arrests on campus and
they don't want the drugs to be found on campus and they don't want the warrants
to be served on campus because it looks like there's bad stats at the school I
wanted one quick now when it says I was on vacation last few days so I've been
following the news I have been following every nuance I'm not gonna sit here at
people tweeting me saying hashtag fire sheriff Israel oh I think we could not
sink I know we need to be fair to Sheriff Israel we're getting these
reports he should come out did his department do more that we don't know
about but my broader point here has a lot of people didn't wait for the facts
at the beginning and said this is the NRA s fault there's a Donald Trump's
fault they had basically zero facts now facts are coming in and it's less and
less about gun control it's still an important debate it's gonna happen it's
gonna be talked about but sheriff Israel and these facts are coming out folks
it's let's get to the bottom of the truth here the FBI and everybody else
that's a great point and you know I would just add this pray for that one
deputy Scott Peterson because he's gonna live with this for the rest of his life
and he goes out he'll attack alright see pacts organizer MATLAB I
spent a lot of time with greeting President Trump ahead of his speech does
he think the President Trump did enough to energize the base we'll ask him next
and if former President Obama gives a speech but the press can't report what
he said did it actually happen
you never take advice
they will take away those massive tax cuts and they will take away your second
America if you only had a choice of one what would you rather have the second
amendment or the tax cuts go ahead second amendment tax cuts second
amendment I'm gonna leave it at the second amendment Matt we're gonna say
you want the second amendment the most but we're gonna get them all President
Trump taking a crowd poll at this year's CPAC and warning the audience what would
happen if the Democrats seize power but it is all of this enough to fire up his
conservative base joining us to weigh in the man of the hour at CPAC the
president Matt slap hey Matt good morning how you doing Griff great to be
with you listen quickly here's the question did President Trump do what he
needed to do to fire up the base with an uphill climb in this year's midterms I
don't know how he could have done any better you know what he actually did
Grif is he literally had a prepared speech with it which they had thought
through and he just totally gave a nearly extemporaneous speech it was
off-the-cuff it was from his heart it was obvious that he was just talking
about what he believes his kinship is with the conservative movement which is
the base the heart and soul of the Republican Party and they loved it Matt
do you believe there was some discussion in the halls you know president Trump at
the beginning of that speech said I am a conservative how about look what I've
done do you think the crowd there views him as a true conservative now or more
of a Republican president who has accomplished significant conservative
goals with an agenda to do more I think the hard part for Donald Trump because
he was not a career politician and let's face it we always elect career
politicians because he came from the business world his political and policy
positions were either unknown or they had been mixed and really all they care
about is what he wants to do and what's in his heart he spoke from the heart
yesterday and he went through his accomplishments and he told them where
he wants to take the country and they love the agenda I don't think anybody
disputes that he's a conservative that he wants to be known as a conservative
president and I think I think if we took a poll of
this audience I think he might do the mathematically impossible and be over a
hundred percent if you took a poll amongst your crowd there what was the
highlight of the President's speech for that crowd what are they talking about
all afternoon in this morning well they loved the fact that he was funny and
that he was you know he was just himself but on the issues it's interesting the
issue that really popped from in both his speech in the vice president speech
with this this decision to move the capital excuse me to move our embassy in
Israel to Jerusalem that is that was wildly popular and I also thought his
remarks about dr. Billy Graham were we're really heartfelt really
appreciated touching and of course you got the old standbys right this is a
crowd that does support the Second Amendment this is a crowd that does
support the president's decision to D certify the nuclear deal with Iran this
is a this is a crowd that does support the president's decision to pull out
that ridiculous Paris climate change agreement so there
was a lot of there was a lot of stating OHS I think I lost track hey listen it's
not over yet see packing it continues today you've got dr. Sebastian Gorka who
else have you got we got Mick Mulvaney from the Office of
Management and Budget we've got Mark Levin we've got Tom Fenton and we end it
all I get to sit down I get the privilege of sitting down with House
Intelligence chairman Devin Nunez we're gonna give him a much deserved award but
they he's gonna tell this crowd why this misuse of our intelligence community to
go after political opponents is so problematic for a constitutional
democracy we can't hear from that that's gonna be fantastic match laugh the
president of the American Conservative Union thank you very much Matt and what
a speech it was some of the mainstream media didn't like it we're gonna talk
more about that later thanks man good good all right coming up
the debate over guns has been front and center after the Florida Massacre
politicians have their ideas but what about everyday Americans we have a town
hall panel here to discuss it that's just ahead it's gonna be great
some quick headlines for you an armed woman is behind bars after ramming her
van into a security barrier at the White House
The Secret Service saying jessica ford was carrying a pistol when she
intentionally did the act ford has been arrested twice before for trying to
climb the White House fence in 2017 police believe she has mental or
emotional issues and Paul Manafort maintaining his innocence as he's hit
with new charges by the special counsel Trump's former campaign manager now
accused of secretly paying European leaders to lobby for pro-russian groups
in Ukraine man apart also blasting his former partner Rick gates for pleading
guilty the former campaign aide admitting to
conspiracy and lying to federal investigators mana Ford says Gates
lacked the strength to fight the allegations a gradual appreciate it in
the days since last week's horrible mass shooting in parkland Florida the debate
over guns in America has been front and center
president Trump weighing in our whole nation was moved by their strength and
by their courage we listened to their heart-wrenching stories ask them for
ideas and pledged to them and I can speak for all of the senators and
congressmen and congresswoman all of the people in this room that are involved in
this decision that we will act we will do something we will act so what do
everyday Americans think our panel is here to discuss
Keisha heben is an attorney Vincent Hill is a former police officer dr. dyan has
his a pediatrician dr. gene Zeno is a political science professor and Kevin
Kelly is a managing partner of benchmark we're going to try to get them all in
and then just for a bonus round we're gonna come back at 9:00 a.m. Eastern so
I want everyone to have a say I'm gonna throw the first open question to not
move this in any direction but what do you think when you hear what we reported
a couple moments ago that beyond the gun control debate that the trained police
officers who could have helped did not help take charge that that that being
former law huh it is very disheartening you have individuals that were trained
for these types of situations that did nothing that led to the deaths of 17
young kids it's very troubled heartbreaking nakisha your pro-gun
control tell me what you think this started a week ago say as we got to do
something about guns I'm not saying that's gone away but as we've gotten
more facts people who were trained to deal with guns weren't jumping in
where are you now almost a week later in how we move forward
well I still believe that we do need more gun control laws but I think the
issue with that is that our police officers are not trained to deal with
these mass shootings that have been happening our country has not been
prepared for it at all that's why I believe there is a need for more law
enforcement there is a need for restricting individuals from owning semi
assault light of rifles and weapons that should only be used in combat so I think
that's a major issue Jean I feel like I could bring you in here because in terms
of dealing with schools which the president had this listening session
this week and our kids which are the most important part from a public health
strategy standpoint what should we be doing well let me just follow up and say
in terms of this man who didn't enter the building this was a failure of epic
proportions at all levels of government from the 39 reports about this young man
to the calls to the FBI that weren't followed up on to this officer standing
out for four minutes while people were being slaughtered inside this was a
failure of epic proportions on all levels of the government and in terms of
a public health approaches which is what I advocate the the liberal argument that
we need to deal with gun control has failed dramatically what we need to do
is talk about this as a public health crisis the same way we did when
automobiles came out and we had to deal with safety issues there and when you do
that you can get to the point that Keisha is talking about in terms of
making solid moves forward from a policy perspective let me first go those I want
to talk about mental health and I'm going to come to Kevin because she was
just talking about maybe a little anti gun control you're Pro States right so I
want to keep it going around around dr. Diane Hass mental health as a
pediatrician where all that fits in and then we're going to get Kevin in here
so mental health is a huge crisis in America the biggest problem for us as
pediatricians is there is not very good reimbursement for mental
health providers I have a provider in New York City is almost impossible to
find a child psychiatrist who actually takes insurance so if you really need to
get a psychiatrist you almost have to be hospitalized it has to come to that
point so we need reimbursement for mental health providers for school
social workers for to prevent this from happening in one sense but we also need
to limit the access of these kids kids do not need to get assault rifles this
every study has shown in other countries that you limit the access to assault
rifles and these these mass shootings do not happen you jump in right there yeah
I think the issue that we're having here is that we're trying to find a central
focus and we're making the NRA the boogeyman and it wasn't the NRA s fault
that that Sheriff's Office didn't act on numerous tips especially when you look
at February 5th of 2016 they were alerted to a fact that he made an
Instagram post with guns and saying he wanted to shoot up the school now my
issue is if you don't have laws on the books that can put him under arrest or
to confiscate his guns because of that but people can can't yell fire in a
crowded theater that's an issue we're having here I see Vincent nodding his
head and I want to get you in here can you started the conversation but I also
want to point out even President Trump said this week though regardless of what
happened with the deputies regardless of mistakes made there needs to be some
sensible gun measures here the President himself is talking about that so how
does that fit well I agree like you shouldn't be able to purchase a gun at
18 when I was the police officer I had to be 21 before I could get certified
with so Rob Lowe Neal real quick a Fox News contributor shot Osama bin Laden
tweeted over the last 24 hours that you should be 21 to vote and 21 to
purchase a gun in America how many people how many hands think that's a
good idea all right we found some agreement so make your point later but
my point is we're talking about the NRA we're talking about assault rifles if
you think about Dylan roof he didn't have an assault rifle he had a Glock 45
caliber which is what I carry so we start talking banning these assault
rifles and that it's not going to solve the problem because you'll still have
these mass shootings we need to talk about how do we react to those a lot
faster you guys a little quick question yeah yeah last point you if you make a
threat that you're going to do an attack and a gun
free school zone or in gun-free zone there should be laws on the banned 10
seconds be held accountable well this child was recorded multiple
times he wasn't even allowed to carry a backpack to school he was only allowed
to carry clear bag because they were so afraid of her
the system failed our other all the students I feel like we heard from
everyone we're gonna hear more 9:00 a.m. Eastern I want you to tweet at Fox &
Friends so what did we miss in this debate and I
want everyone one last after all these points are made how many hands believe
president Trump and Republicans and Democrats in Congress will do something
to move the country forward on this how many are confident give me your hand if
you think you are you are confident zero hands that's something we got to deal
with we're going to talk about it 9:00 a.m. Eastern thanks for all those
viewpoints president Trump hitting a wide range of topics in his powerful
CPAC speech including faith in religion in America we don't worship government
we worship God what are the voters think of that the brand-new dials are next and
a miracle on ice I get that right the u.s. men's curling team makes history
overnight and they had a big fan cheering them on maybe the president's
daughter maybe the press secretary maybe a lot of big fans stick around for the
details yes
President Trump speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference
on a number of issues including immigration gun control and even face
let's get the pulse of the people on the president's big CPAC moments Lee Carter
is a pollster and president of maslansky & Partners and she joins us now to break
it down good morning Lee good morning good to have you on the couch this
morning it's great to be here and you know we talked about how a president
made in match lap ahead of CPAC just made this point to Griff about Reverend
Billy Graham passing this week president making that an important part of his
speech obviously well received with this conservative crowd but they went a
little further about worship and government God listen above all else we
know that faith and family not government and bureaucracy are at the
center of American life we know that
because in America we don't worship government we worship God so you see the
red line is Republican obviously the yellow was independent this is a
Republican crowd and blue on the bottom was Democrat that's right so you can see
there this is one of the best short lines of his speech the Republicans gave
that's an A+ independence of E+ and Democrats even gave us a C now this was
a subtle but dig at the Democrats and yet they still responded to this I think
one of the things that is so interesting here is that we do see right now that
the American people are feeling better about the Americans place in the world
and it's for messages like this that a lot of the the Americans out there are
really feeling good about it but the Democrats said at the end when it went
when it went it's sort of separated and then it came together when he said we're
about even we don't worship government worship God that's right interesting
it's something that Democratic voters might embrace but Nancy Pelosi said
newly not all right so the next soundbite is about arming teachers in
the school these teachers and I've seen them at a lot of schools where they had
problems these teachers love their students and the students love their
teachers in many cases these teachers love their students and these teachers
are talented with weaponry and with guns and that's they feel safe
and I'd rather have somebody that loves their students and wants to protect
their students then somebody's standing outside that doesn't know anybody and
doesn't know the students and frankly for whatever reason decided not to go in
even though we heard lots of shots being fired inside so you can see there there
was a big divide here Republicans gave this at a - independence a/c and
Democrats and F now in the beginning when he's talking about our great
teachers everybody agreed to support them when he started talking about our
arming our teachers you could see then the independence started a dive and the
Democrats took a nosedive this is a really controversial plan and one that
is very misunderstood I think for the most part people are thinking that he's
saying everybody teachers are gonna be now responsible for going out there and
getting weapon trained instead of saying if this is gonna make you feel safer you
should carry and by the way I think that's a good thing so that you maybe he
needs to clarify what do you mean by doing it right the president's very
clear when he talked about mayor based immigration let's play that side we pick
out people then they turn out to be horrendous and we under we don't
understand why they're not giving us their best people folks they're not
giving us I mean use your heads they're giving us it's a lottery I don't
want people coming into this country with a lottery I want people coming into
this country based on merit based on merit well pretty clear to see what that
grade was yeah there's no question they're Republicans Leavitt given a
independence of the Democrats Adeem now here's the thing it was a real slow
start but when he gets into that contrast between it let's not have a
lottery let's have it merit-based most people started coming on board so that's
a really good message so he had some funny moments I'm gonna introduce this
segment because this is a sensitive subject for a lot of what a nice picture
that is look at that I'd love to watch that guy speak I try like hell to hide
that balls but does it look bad hey we're hanging in you know whatever we
heard here the dials went really really quick here there was some more
afterwards Republicans independents both gave it an a Democrats a seat this was a
great moment for the president light-hearted poking fun of themselves
made him seem really offensive why do they like independence keep an A for
this you know what the bottom line is this the Democrats mostly do not go over
a see where the president no matter what resists even a joke about his bald spot
you know what her side so some people give credit most people won't
net-net he gets a see from you're the best we appreciate being here I return
out of your headline a bully to former NFL player detained by police after
posting this disturbing image the image posted by Jonathan Martin showing a gun
ammo and the names of former teammates and his high school which was forced to
close when the post went public the Los Angeles private school will reopen on
Monday Martin has reportedly been released from
custody it's unclear if he'll face charges in 2013 the NFL ruled that
Martin has her was harassed by the Miami Dolphins teammates george w bush sharing

loss Wall Street Journal got read it absolutely attendees of a speech by
former President Obama silenced and sworn to secrecy not much news out of
last night's low profile address at MIT in Boston and that's just how Obama's
camp wanted it media and guest told not to report on the event discussing his
presidency and what's next in his life according to the Boston Globe those
violating the request for subject to removal and restrictions on future
events nothing but love for Team USA at the Olympics Ivanka Trump making a
heart-shaped hand gesture while watching men's snowboarding at the Winter Games

little dirty they're beating Sweden taking its first ever gold medal those
are your headlines all right we won that's the point Team USA won
that's all that matters a great curler Adam clods he's created everything he's
like fantastic sliding on in there I've always wanted
to do know I have i've never curled instead i just focus on the forecast
that today eventually is going to be including some pretty nasty weather in
the heart of the country right now you're looking at a lot of warm air
piling up in the southeast but anytime you get that defined cold front that is
where you start to see some severe weather firing up and that's what's
gonna be happening today really running down into the mississippi valley
stretching up into the midwest all areas where we're going to be talking about
big thunderstorms firing off later today here is your future forecast if you're
living on the eastern half of the country
this is gonna be marching across the country here for your saturday
eventually into your sunday but the big highlight here for our sunday is gonna
be what's happening there right in the heart of the mississippi valley so
you're talking about Memphis stretching up towards Nashville getting into
portions of southern Indiana all the way down toward Shreveport this is an area
where we could see some tornadoes today guys so that's when we're gonna be
watching coming up a little bit later into yeah serious stuff we'll stay on
top of appreciate you doing it yep thanks Adam thanks still had White House
deputy press secretary Hogan diddly Herman Cain nine nine nine and the mooks
Anthony scare bootie all here live in President Trump taking center stage on
day two of CPAC so what's in store for day three Peter Doocy is live on the
main floor with a preview he's coming up gusano
