Rev up your engines, tidus wig says, scotty what's the best suv
for least road noise, for the least road noise I'd have to say that Acuras, the seem to be
the quietest out of all the ones that I've driven around, it would be a toss up between
them and the Lexus suvs, they seem to be the quietest,
but understand one thing, a lot of quiet ride comes from the tires,
not only do the tires absorb shocks, they absorb more shock than the shock absorbers,
so you don't want low profile tires because they don't absorb the shocks and the low profile
tires often make more noise too, but a lot of it has to do with the tires,
you want a quiet ride you want to go get nice quiet tires,
you talk to a pro then like a place that sells premium tires and say, look I know there's
all kinds of tires out there but I want to quietest tires you guys sell, so you get something
nice and quiet and you don't have to worry about the vehicle itself because most of the
noise is in the tires, hobbler says scotty I got an 07 saturn v6,
it has 100,000 miles and the tranny is getting sluggish, carmax offered me $1,200 for it,
do you think I should take the offer and run, that's not much money for a car but it's a
12 year old saturn they don't make them anymore, if you're happy with $1,200 sell it, if not
try to sell it on the open market and see if you can get more,
but they are junk and if it's getting sluggish realize to rebuild the tranny on that thing
is going to be $3,500-$5,500 which you don't want to do that,
so but before you even mess with that junk try one of my tricks because sometimes it
works on those, take one quart of transmission fluid out of
the transmission, put in one quart of the lucas automatic transmission stop slip, costs
you about $18, put it in and see what happens, sometimes I've seen people put those in and
after 200-300 miles they go back to shifting normal and if it does great, you know you
can see, the most you're going to get for that thing is $1,200-$1,400 it's not much
money, and if you do that and it lasts for another year or two or something what the
heck keep it, because when you're done with it you can just
junk it anyways it's not really worth that much and if it works good otherwise 100,000
isn't that much mileage on a car these days, if that lucas transmission fix helps great,
try that I've had customers that had really good luck with that stuff, sometimes it lasts
a long time you never know, dw says scotty I got a 2006 f150 5.4 liter,
it's got 237,000 miles it needs a timing job, do you think I should do it or get a new motor,
237,000 miles, get a rebuilt motor, don't nickle and dime with engine work, with 237,000
miles everything in that engine is worn, you're better to get a rebuilt engine you know go
that route, or a new one if you can get a factory long block, because there's so much
stuff that's worn, I had more customers over the years that went
to other places and they say, gee scotty last year I had this guy do a valve
job on my engine and timing chain and now what's wrong and I say, look I do a compression
test and see your engine is worn out inside he should of put piston rings, done all kinds
of other work, with that kind of mileage you're better to just get rid of your engine and
put another one in than you are fixing yours, archer says dear scotty what do you recommend
for a diesel work / family truck, please help us,
first decide if you really need a diesel, diesels are really complex, if you're buying
a brand new one and you get a warranty yeah they can last a really long time, but if your
buying a used one I don't advise that much buying a used diesels because if they weren't
maintained right they can be very expensive, but let's say you're going to buy a brand
new diesel truck for the family, get a ford, my customers have the best luck with the diesel
ford, now I know worldwide toyota seems to make
decent ones with diesels but in the US they don't really sell them, I'm assuming your
in the US, so in that case I'd say get the ford diesel,
they seem to be the ones that hold up the best from all my customers and the feedback
I get from them, Mr. Moe says how do I keep mice from getting
under the hood of my car, watch the video I put up last week, keeping bad things from
happening to your car at night, and I've been doing it for years it work great,
there are these ultrasonic pest repellers and what it is the one I found was the 12v
system, you can just hook it up to your battery, they make these horrible ultrasonic sounds
that rodents hate, and of course you can't believe anybody these
days, when I bought one first, I said what is this a joke, you hook it up and you see
a little red diode coming out but you can't hear it because we can't hear ultrasonic sounds,
but I got an ultrasonic sound detector for working on cars,
so I put it on my head and I plugged that on the car and you'd hear it, it goes weehoo,
it makes all kinds of noise and the rats run away,
they work great I mean I've used it in my own car and I actually have 120v versions
in the walls behind me this house is an old pre world war 2 house in Houston where the
ground is clay and everything settles and we used to get rats in the walls,
and at night when we were sleeping behind the wall we had to beat on them, we'd hear
them making noises it would drive us nuts, years ago I put them in the wall, it was cool
I would drill a hole in the wall, put it in, and then patch it up,
the rats ran away and never came back that stuff actually does work, you can get them
on Amazon there's a bunch of companies that sell them, you just want a 12v version for
your car, so if you never want to miss another one of
my new car repair videos, remember to ring that bell!
