[JI] Hello, I'm Jill.
This is ASL Stew Life.
(cat meow... ♪♪♪)
Welcome, today I'm going to be doing my 19 week pregnancy update.
Last time I did a video was I think 15 weeks.
So I'm really sorry it's been like a month,
but honestly not a lot happened.
So updating every couple weeks is fine.
Anyways, right now the baby is the size of a Gameboy.
You know the old school block video games, that.
Or a zucchini, which is cool.
Right now the baby weighs 9 oz.
I'm just gonna kind of explain what's been going on!
I'll start right about 16, 17 weeks.
I started having more hip pain.
Kind of like in the hip/butt area.
I would sleep overnight and then I would wake up in the morning
and have these really bad pain in the morning when I woke up.
Then it would be gone maybe by the end of the day.
But I wasn't sure if it was the bed or just pregnancy.
So that started around 16/17 weeks.
Then it got pretty bad and then it kind of dwindled, 17/18 weeks
and now it started again around 18 weeks.
So maybe... I don't know the reason why.
I've gained more weight.
I haven't recently weighed myself,
I went to the doctor like a week or so ago.
I think I was 154 or something.
So I've gained around 3 or 4 pounds or something like that.
That's because during 16 and 17 weeks I was starving!
Like I got really, really hungry.
So now it's gone down a bit, but I'm still pretty hungry all the time.
So after the recent video, I had my second trimester screening test.
Like I mentioned, the test.
That was screening for spina bifida.
I was negative, well...
negative meaning I have a really, really low chance.
So it probably won't happen. So that is good!
Now, if you know me and you're watching this video,
there's a few symptoms that are a little TMI.
So I'm just kind of forewarning you.
On and off, you know if you're pregnant,
your boobs itch a little bit.
I think it's just cause they're dry.
I tried to put some lotion on, but I'm not really a big lotion person.
I just really don't like it that much.
I don't know, I just don't.
But I have been getting stretch marks.
But I already had some from before,
but I've probably have gotten a few new ones now,
but I really honestly don't care that much.
Lotions and creams and all that don't really help.
If you get it, you're gonna get it.
The only way you can prevent that possibly, maybe
is if you work out a lot
and that helps to give elasticity for your skin, but that's it.
I THINK I felt the first movement of the baby around 16 1/2 weeks or so.
I kind of felt little fluttery or poppy feelings.
Like one night I think I felt it and I actually FELT it
it kind of overwhelmed me and made me cry.
Now randomly I'll feel things that I'm pretty sure are movements now,
but I can explain the reason why I don't feel as much later.
Sometimes I've been really emotional!
Like the one morning, just before I had started work
like a day or two before that,
I typically make coffee in the morning for Jenna
and I make her lunch and all of that
and I don't know, it's just what I've done and I like it.
So...
I said "oh well I'm going to have to, I'm starting work this week,
so that means I'm going to have to make it earlier"
because I usually start work before she does.
She's like "oh well you don't have to take care of me.
I'm fine, I can do it myself, blah, blah, blah"
like not mean or anything.
Just matter of fact.
I started crying, I was like
"No, I like doing it!
It makes me feel good. It's my thing, blah, blah, blah"
Just bawling. She felt bad, but I cried over that.
One day, I was making the bed and I was sitting on the floor
because we had new sheets.
So I was tucking them under the bed.
I was sitting on the floor and
our floor is really, really old carpet.
I mean, it's not that great, but whatever.
It's fine, we can wait till later to get that fixed.
I sat down and the carpet was old and dirty and
and I was so sick of the floor I just started crying.
I was so upset and really I was being over dramatic,
but that's what I've been doing.
So sometimes I just cry for no reason and I don't know.
About 17 weeks I did have some shooting pains.
Just a little bit, but nothing too serious.
Also, July 20th I had an OB appointment.
There was no ultrasound,
but I went and I noticed at that time my blood pressure was high.
I was like 142 which is high.
They said "hey have you been stressed?"
Cause I've been fine. I've never had a blood pressure issue before.
I said "yeah I have". Stressed cause of thinking about things with the baby
and the next day was when I was starting back at work and I was kind of in a tizzy.
I think that's why, because
since that appointment, I have been checking my blood pressure.
You know some grocery stores have the machine you can sit in and put your arm in.
I've used that and I've checked it often
and I've never even been close to being at risk or anything.
When I had the appointment it was fine it's just blood pressure was up
that one time and that's it!
Also at that appointment the baby's heartbeat was really good.
I think it was like 150 - 160, somewhere in there.
So, that's a good heartbeat.
Everything seems to be going well.
Now, another warning.
If you know me in person,
and you don't want to hear a very TMI symptom,
right now skip to... another part of the video.
I'll put the time up here.
So once I'm done I'll give you a few seconds.
Okay, if you're still watching that means
you want to know a personal TMI symptom that I recently had.
To be honest, I mean,
I should tell you guys because you might experience it
or if you want to become pregnant...
it's important people are aware this could happen.
So... the day that I'm filming this, August 18th,
I'd say not recent Friday, but the Friday before.
So like a week or two, or something like that, whatever.
I started feeling a little bit dry and itchy in my vaginal area.
Not like the whole thing, just towards the top.
I thought oh well, I researched it and thought maybe it's just dry.
Then it went away and then it came back really itchy, like BAD!
So I googled what it could be.
It said it could be a yeast infection, or it could be a pH imbalance
because often when you're pregnant,
your body's chemicals and hormones get thrown off.
So when I read the symptoms for the yeast infection,
I didn't really have anything other than the itching.
That's it. Itchiness was the only thing.
So I thought it was a pH imbalance so I thought I can just get through it.
So I waited
and I think it was Wednesday night.
Thursday came and it was kind of itchy but it wasn't too bad so I thought I can get through this.
Then Friday came and I noticed that I had a flare up.
Not continual, but just a flare up.
I thought okay it still has to be that
and then I started wondering.
By Friday evening it was so bad. The flare up was horrible.
I thought I might have a yeast infection
but I don't have any other symptoms.
Nothing! Just the itchiness.
No odor, no discharge, anything like that.
Then over the weekend...
yeah over the weekend, it was really bad.
Not constant, but again,
I would get these really, really bad flare ups.
Like almost unbearable itchiness, like really bad
and sometimes I would make it through and sometimes I would have to itch.
I know its not good, you shouldn't do it, but I couldn't help it.
By Sunday I almost went to the store to get a yeast infection test,
like the kit because I need to figure out what to do.
But I was like no.
So I decided Sunday evening to give a call to the on-call doctor at my OB's office.
I was almost in tears and I called and they said they'll call me back.
I kind of explained what happened and it was awful.
I said it's not ongoing, but it's really bad.
The doctor said it's important you go and get checked at the OB tomorrow
because if it is a yeast infection, obviously you need to treat it.
Cause if you don't treat it then it could become worse itchy,
plus that could affect the baby and you don't want that.
So he said, "if you do go and get like Monistat or whatever generic yeast infection,
the cream could cause a screw up in their test results tomorrow."
So I was like "ugh".
I hung up from the doctor and I started bawling.
I mean I was sobbing. I was so upset.
There really wasn't anything I could do.
They're like "oh take a bath and blow dry your vagina."
Hey, I tried it.... and it didn't work.
But anyways, the next day I called the doctor, blah, blah, blah.
Luckily they were able to get me an appointment at the end of the day.
I didn't have any flare ups that day.
So I saw the doctor, they did the test,
and the next day they said they'd let me know
and of course they called me and yep, "you have a yeast infection."
Actually it's pretty common for pregnant women.
Most women have one sometime in their life, but it's pretty common in pregnancy.
So she told me I have to start Monistat 7.
It's a vaginal fungal infection cream.
Maybe in your country it's different,
but here in the US most places it's Monistat.
She said to use the 7.
Cause here there's three different ones, Monistat 1, 3, and 7.
Which it means it's how many days.
So 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days.
Obviously I'd prefer 1 day, but nope we could only do Monistat 7.
She said that's the safest one for pregnancy.
So if you are pregnant and if you suspect or whatever,
if you have a yeast infection the one...
the only one... obviously get tested from your doctor first as always.
Just for safety reasons. Don't treat it yourself.
Two, follow whatever your doctors orders are.
But most doctors are gonna say take Monistat 7.
It sucks because it's 7 days of putting cream up your vagina
and there's leakage and you have to use pads and it's not fun.
But I guess it's that because if you use the really strong dose,
it could have bad affects. I don't really know.
But anyways, I'm still on it at this point.
Putting the cream overnight
and I think that's been causing my hip pain to be worse.
Because when you do the treatment,
you have to put the cream in the syringe, put it up your vagina
and then you have to lie down.
Stay lying down the whole night.
So that way it won't leak out as much.
After a whole night of sleep, when I wake up for the rest of the day,
there is still gonna be leakage.
I've already had at least one or two days in the middle of the day I'm like
ugh, ruined my underwear! Well not ruined them but ugh.
So I would suggest just don't even try pantyliners,
just go ahead and use a thin but long pad.
One that goes more up towards the front,
because you will have leakage of the cream
and it's really annoying, but what can you do.
So hopefully this goes away soon.
Now I only have a few days left, but anyways...
other than that...
With the hip pain it's been pretty bad.
Today it's been hurting a lot.
Even walking is just not fun, but I don't know.
If you've had that issue, what did you do to solve it?
Is it just because I have a bad bed,
or I need a different pillow or... I don't know!
I don't know. It's just really, really bad walking around today.
Going up the stairs is horrible. It's not good at all!
Oh, one more thing.
Recently, two days ago, I think it was two days ago on Thursday,
I had my anatomy scan, ultrasound.
Mine was at 19 weeks.
It was about 45 minutes.
The reason why is because they literally check everything!
So we went in and I lied down,
and they do the ultrasound on your stomach.
They checked the heart in multiple angles, on the heart a bunch of times.
You see all the ventricles and the chambers and everything.
It was really cool, and the brain. They checked all of that.
They showed us how the blood's flowing
and the different colors and it's really cool!
They showed us their arms and their fingers.
Counted all of the fingers and all of the toes and everything looks great.
They said the spine was beautiful.
The stomach, the liver, the kidneys, everything was great!
There were a lot of pictures and video.
So I'm gonna include a few pictures and video now.
♪♪♪
So, that was our ultrasound.
I'm really happy that everything went well.
Again, the baby was 9 oz.
She said that's right in the middle of 8 - 10 where they should be.
The measurements were really good, the head circumference, all of that measured out perfectly.
So no issues. Still no gender, no sex.
But, yeah.. I mean, we're really, really happy about that.
Oh and she did check my cervix
and she said that it was above 3 cm?
I think? I think it's centimeters.
I don't remember, but it's 3.
Anyways, and that's a good number.
So she said everything's good and I don't need to be checked again
until probably later around birthing time!
So, that's about it.
I'm sorry it was such a long video today.
But I'm trying to catch up on a lot of things.
If you're pregnant, how many weeks are you?
What symptoms have you had?
Have you any solutions for the problems I've told you? Let me know!
