Almost a year ago I made a youtube video about buying views.
To sum things up, buying views doesn't work and if you want to grow your channel do it
organically.
Now a lot of commentators asked "who would buy views"?
I'm sure most of the commenters and perhaps even you the audience is thinking "someone
that would probably buy this is someone who wants to get famous on social media".
While that may be Very true, if I were to lose my morals and buy views it wouldn't be
for that.
It would be to make people believe that I would be able to get the views for them.
The market for getting someone youtube views is a real thing.
Not just for that wanna be famous person, but for brands who want to market their products.
That's why you have this boom of this new job called a "social media manager".
You also have whole companies dedicated to helping brands grow their social media presence
in order to get more sales and build branding.
Here's the thing.
Those services are expensive.
With a quick google search you'll see that hiring a social media manager can range from
$200 to $3000 per month for small businesses.
For enterprise ventures it can cost $5000 per channel.
So whats the quick solution?
Buy views right?
You can literally buy 1000 views for 2 bucks, but its not worth it because it actually doesn't
work.
I experiment before and all it does is give you the numbers.
It does nothing to your engagement or subscriber count.
In fact it ruins your ranking on YouTube's algorithm.
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could hire a social media manager to grow your youtube
account for the price of buying views?
Well there are services for this or they claim to be.
So, I get these emails about every once in a while and they claim to be from marketing
companies who will help me market my youtube videos and get more views.
I have enclosed a screenshot of your estimated monthly earnings from YouTube.
I hope the above information is use for you.
Now you can also improve it by making your videos more popular.
We provide.
professional service to make your videos popular.
If you have any questions or doubts then feel free to contact me back anytime.
What's really suspicious is that they add this social blade info.
Social blade if you didn't know is a free platform where you can search yourself up
or any other youtubers up and it shows you a bunch of stats for free.
Anybody can sign up for this so why would they add this in the email.
Now I'm not going to name the company because I don't want to to indirectly promote them
or on the opposite side of the spectrum ruin their business.
Their prices are cheaper than hiring a social media manager or digital agency but a bit
pricier than buying views yourself.
They claim to be a team of online marketing professionals that will take your site, or
in this case youtube video to the top of major search engines.
Lucky for us this service provides a few examples of clients it helped.
The first example shows the basic plan promising 1000 to 2000 views.
Now looking at the video, the views seem pretty good and the likes seem alright as well.
Comments are a little sparse but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
Truth is you never really know if views are bots or not as proven by PewDiePie who accused
a kids channel Ryan's Toy Reviews of buying fake views.
Pewdiepie came to that conclusion because the channel had few comments, but on an interview
on the Phil Defranco show the channel freely gave their youtube analytics to Phil for analysis.
He came to the conclusion that the views seemed legitimate.
Canada, Indonesia, India.
For me when I looked at the numbers.
They seemed a lot more legitimate.
What was happening was that the main demographic for Ryans Toy Reviews are young children perhaps
under 8 years old who aren't really old enough to leave comments on videos and when
they do its gibberish.
I'm honestly still not convinced that this service is legitimate though.
But lets look at the 2nd example this client this company has said to have helped.
Views and likes are great, but if you look at the comments this client has stated he
didn't know his video was being promoted by this company.
A commenter writes "your video is being advertised as a video that paid for views.
did you know this?".
The creator writes back, "I did not.
Thank you for your feed back." Of course the creator could be lying so I reached out
to them and the other creators on twitter.
So when you buy views, all you need to do is paste your youtube link on their site and
watch the views roll in.
My theory is that these fake marketers are using those sites to buy likes and views,
and are claiming that your video is being marketing by them when in fact all they did
was paste your link to this site.
They are able to uncharge you because they claim work is being done by actual human beings
yada yada yada. nstead of waiting for those individuals who I contacted via twitter to
respond, I decided to do the experiment myself.
You can find a lot of people on fiver who claim to be an expert at marketing youtube
videos.
They charge at a price so low it makes me wonder why anyone would hire a social media
manager in the first place if this service works.
Here it is.
I paid 6 dollars.
The seller can now start working on your order.
It should be delivered by August 19, 2017.
So, it's been about a week or more probably since I bought that youtube marketing thing
from fiverr and I have the stats right here that I'm going to share with you, but before
I even share that the person who bought that markting service from those people that sent
me the email finally responded.
Only 1 person responded.
It's the person who made the 2nd video.
I have my laptop here.
I sent them a tweet and it says.
Did you by marking from I'm working on a youtube video and I'd love to know your thoughts about
them.
The respond with, I did and it was great and thank you. and you know on their youtube video
they clearly stated that they did not buy views and they did not know their video was
being advertised on this marketing site.
I personally think they were probably embarrassed by the commenters who asked this on their
videos.
The reason why they admitted it to me is that they think I'm inquiring about that service
and that they think I'm genuinely asking about their thoughts and that I'm buying that service.
Now I'm going to share the stats of the video where I bought the fiverr marketing from.
The views we have are 1,324.
Something that stands out to me are the likes on this video.
We have 16 likes.
That's definitely not enough for the views that it got but compared to when I experimented
with buying views.
I got about 12,000 views for buying views but absolutely no likes.
Now where are people viewing this video?
Most of them are from Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Serbia, Romania, Taiwan.
That's another common thing with buying views is you get views from these obscure third
world countries but another thing that stands out to me that's different from the last time
of when I bought views and experimented with this thing is the average percentage viewed.
So, this video was like a minute something in total.
The average that these people watched are actually really high 87% 91% 91% For the video
in which I bought views last time, the average view duration was actually 50%.
Since this video was actually 1 minute and 7 seconds, it'd be interesting to see what
would happen to that number if the video was say 30 minutes.
So, now we're going to the traffic sources.
Where are the viewers finding this video.
Right off the bat the top source is suggested videos and when we click that we see that
these sources aren't related to my video at all.
The first is like sjG4bc I don't know what that is.
The Face Men Thailand and I know there's a few of you thinking this is really great because
your video is being suggested by youtube.
It's actually not that great at all because since these videos aren't related to the original
video I made, real viewers because I'm very skeptical that these viewers that viewed by
video are real.
That viewer is unlikely to click my video due to the fact that it's unrelated to whatever
it is that I said they were watching and so because they're unlikely to click that video
youtube notices that and it ranks the video lower in those suggested terms.
So, what's my conclusion to fiverr marketing.
For this particular service, it doesn't work.
I'd like to say that the other marketing services for youtube are fake as well, but I'm only
saying that with 85% confidence due to the fact that I actually didn't try all the marketing
services on fiverr and these services are coming from different vendors so other people
may have different methods.
If you need views to market your video I'd say to do the work yourself.
If you have the money go ahead and hire a social media manager or hire digital media
agency to do that for you and even then with those agencies and those social media marketers.
I'd also advise you to be careful because they too have the capability to buy views
and make it look like your videos are being inflated so do your research on who you hire
because the act of buying views does ruin your ranking on youtube and it may be hard
to recover from.
So, that's the end of the video.
That's all I have for you today.
I hope you found this interesting.
You guy are really liking my social media videos so if you want to see me do more of
the social media stuff give this video a thumbs up.
I will see you guys next time.
Stay psyched.
