hi welcome to Hedgehog Hollow today we have sunday stamping with Elizabeth
craft designs and I'm going to be using the silk micro-fine glitter to create
these stunning baubles I'm going to show you how to add all this wonderful detail
with glitter with a no mess clear up as well plus we're going to use
the oxides to add that wonderful shading to those fur leaves so let's get started
so today's card is all using the beautiful bubbles dye from Elizabeth
craft designs this is a great dye set if you sell me the out Kron Show we
discussed lots of different ways to do with it so you get this lovely bow to
hold your ornaments on here you've got some intricate ornaments and we have
some ornament outlines we also have the holders for the baubles plus we have
this lovely fur piece and I'm going to create a card similar to the one here on
the front just with a few different techniques in it so I've pre-cut all my
die-cutting to make it a little bit quicker but I'll show you what I've done
is I've cut out a few different furs that we're going to distress here and
I've got some iced spruce some mowed lawn and simple paint because I didn't
know if the distress oxide might give us some cool looks or otherwise we can work
with the mowed lawn but we'll experiment together I have my barbers brush and
some daubers for that now the bow piece I actually just pre-cut these long
pieces here using some blue cardstock and the ornament Stoppers I've cut out
of some copper card stock here so you can see if we lift them up really pretty
they're nice and reflective and that's gonna tie in nicely with the matching
layer so I have a six five six card so my first piece is the twelve five six
and then I've cut some matting like so I'm gonna have a piece of copper a piece
of white we're actually going to mount everything on this craft color at the
end I just thought that white gives it a nice pop and it doesn't all get lost
into the background so first of all let's do art spruce two pieces here and
let's just grab a few of them I'm not sure how many will need but let's play
around so let's grab a couple of these different links here so this is the ice
spruce let's grab a dauber and pick up some hearts a really cool technique I'll
lift it up in just a second once I put some color on
so that's their so you can see how that ice Bruce has really added that lovely
oxidized and color to it which is what I was hoping for and that sits on top with
a nice chalking ness let's try the same with the peeled paint again it's gonna
grab a dauber that's doing the same thing but with a lighter tin so it's
nice to get some different effects and you could heat dry these or I'm going to
leave until the end till we mount them up and I'm sure they'll be dry by then
I'm dragging some through them at all to a few different effects we're gonna lift
that up so you can see how nice that looks as well see on that and then let's
try some with the mowed lawn so this is not a distress oxide this is just
regular distress ink but what it should do is give us some nice darker edges and
it does look nice I'll show you a closer I'm just working on a small piece of
crusher this is actually the one that I have cut for my mini Misti you'll see
there there's just a little bit of extra darkness on those leaves but I really
like how the distress oxides come out so I'm going to add a little bit more of
that too I'm just trying to catch sort of random pieces and we'll do another
iced spruce as well because that's really nice as well here we go
so we'll leave those to the side to dry while we're working on our bubbles now
although it looks a really complex card and the die-cut it maybe took me five or
ten minutes you could easily cut these in bulk if
you wanted to make more than one but I also come together really nicely so I
have a piece of white cardstock they applied the Elizabeth craft design
adhesive to that you've seen me used before you can buy it in a roll or in
sheets and then I've die-cut my basic ornament shape so all three I have
die-cut here and what I've also die-cut out of the release paper that I pulled
off from here first of all I cut myself a square to hold things with and
secondly I cut all of those intricate ornaments that we're going to be using
I'm going to slide my die-cuts here to the sides so these work brilliantly as
mass now normally I would work on the coffee filter with this micro fine
glitter because it avoids a lot of static but I couldn't find any so I
quickly just grabbed a piece of printer paper so what I'm going to do is I'm
going to start by just holding this back maybe somewhere between a third and a
half because I give me something really nice to hold on to and what it allows me
to do is position this hopefully fairly perfectly so I'm lining up the point of
my bauble there and my edges there the only pieces you really need to line up
and then to Pat it down if I use my fingers I know you get stuck to it and
I'm gonna warp my piece I know she's gonna use another piece of that release
paper and I'm going to press it down I'm gonna do the same to all three like so
so again peel it back part of the way line up your point and your edge and
we'll start pressing that down is to make sure it's nicely lined up and then
again I'm gonna lift this up now if it's slightly over like this you can use your
piece here hold it down you can lift it back up and we can reposition it in the
right place it's close enough for this one and let's
do our final one and then I'm going to show you how we're going to apply our
glitter so again I'm going to just peel you can start bottom or top use that
piece as a nice tab I'm going to line up that edge
and again I'm going to press that down so the first thing I'm going to do is
I've chosen some colors of glitter so I have true red Imperial garnet forest
green and copper so these are some my favorite colors I thought we'll do a
traditional red and green and then we'll do some others I also grabbed the warm
diamond that's the really nice one and that's the same one we used that is
clear I made our custom glimmer paper the other day so the first thing you
want to do is take your piece here grab your tweezers and pick up your piece
dusting off or your excess give it a nice oops
strong flick on the back the other thing that I find sometimes is useful it's
just one of my embossing buddies or the powered at all if you do get any static
that sticks onto your ball ball you can just brush it off with that and one's
going to tuck that mech in there but they made a coffee filter is you don't
get any residue but please print to paper you can't wipe it off as well but
if you have got coffee filters I would recommend using those now before you do
anything else we're going to polish this first layer we're going to go around and
polish this up
and now I'm going to pull this piece off that release paper like so and we are
ready to add a second color so for this one I think I'm going to work with the
warm diamond so then I'm gonna do the same thing just tap it off put that to
the side get rid of that put on lid back on just because I would be the one to
knock it all off and then again we're going to do that polishing and I'll lift
it up in a second you'll see all that extra glimmer and sparkle and everything
we get in there from doing that polishing just running it between my
fingers there so there is our first ornament you can see all that wonderful
sparkle in there and also the detail that you get by using the microphone
glitter all of those swirls and everything are still in there so let's
do the same with our other two and I'll let you watch as I do that
so now we're ready to assemble our card and I had a few different ideas about
how to assemble it I think the best way is to start with our baubles
and work our way backwards so I'm going to grab some foam here I'm going to cut
myself my usual big strip and I'm going to start putting some on the back of my
baubles I'll put some on the back of each one and then I'm going to actually
layer this up as a second layer because I want to have lots of dimension tie
walls if you're putting it through the mail you may not want to do this it's
entirely up to you whatever fits your recipient or your method of postage I
know that you often look for different ideas so you don't necessarily have to
do this second layer just cutting these pieces down here and sticking them on
first and now I'm going to put them where I want and the other thing is now
that they buffed up or burnished or polished however you want to call it the
great thing is is they feel like a silk that glitters not going to come off on
any one it's not gonna be all over their mantle at Christmas it is now stuck for
good and it feels like this wonderful silk fabric which is why we called it
the silk micro-fine a glitter so there's our baubles stuck on now I'm going to
stick on my blue pieces and you could either use a glue pen or all sorts of
things but this is my little trick for doing them so I just hold it down my
finger run my tape over on a craft mat and when I lift it up only that little
piece has got the tape on it so I'm going to stick these on Gurlitt and go
straight to the top because we're going to put our evergreen over the top of
that again to stop this in and the same down here
and then I'm just going to snip that so our tops are all done there and I'm
gonna go and do the same thing with the tops of my ball balls
I know these do or correspond so that's the circular one so they're cut to the
right size for the top of this ball ball piece here so this is the wider one by
the looks of it I'm just rolling this across my finger and just pick up a
deceive on that bit there where we want to you could of course you as I say use
a glue pen or I could have die cut them with the Elizabeth craft adhesive on as
well but I didn't have that much forethought so this is a really great
way to do afterwards but some adhesive on the back before you die cut them
would be perfect and again I'm going to put this one these over I was right the
first time so this one goes on there and this one goes here so there's our
toppers for our ornaments I'm going to add some ribbon on for the bows so I
just have some fine this is gold room and I did look for copper but I didn't
seem to have any so I decided to go with the gold and I'm going to just to bunny
ears and knot them together and that's going to create our bows then you can
fiddle about with adding those on so just kind of teasing backwards and
forwards and you want three reasonably equal bows
same bunny is pull tight every time you pull those tails you'll need to pull
your knot back tight again
another one again we'll just trim those tails down let's do our third and final
bone so it's the same thing
bunny ears pull and this is a super simple way to do your bow tie and it'll
give you a nice flat bow that will sit perfectly on top of your ornaments we're
going to stick those on using some glue dots so I'm going to touch this onto my
knot and then I'm going to top this onto the top of my ornament and if you
haven't done this before glue dots will cure so to start with
right now it may not feel the most secure overnight that's gonna keep
secure and harden and cure and harden rather and you'll find that by tomorrow
morning your piece will be really sturdy and I just think that's a lovely
finishing touch for the top of our horrible piece they're just going to
assume that tale to be a little even with the other side now we can add our
evergreens so these are the evergreen pieces we
prepared earlier and I'm just going to play about with them until I'm happy
with how they lay and you can get them to lay in different directions and you
will notice mine are laying off the top because I'm going to trim them down in
just a minute I think that's a nice way so let's put
something like that I was gonna put a strip of tape on the back I'll move that
up for you a little bit and how to angle these in so that's one I'll have one
going across like this I have this one going in here
a little bit of this one too so these are all four that we created I think
just gives us a nice bit of evergreen and then what I'm going to do again is
the same thing I'm going to turn this over and you could use your paper
trimmer but if you bought your scissors right up against your cardstock you'll
find it will create a guide for you it will keep your scissors going nice and
straight and you'll end up with that nice flush edge on there the same as
your base piece so I'm gonna do the same down this side now I'm going to leave
that little bit on the other side so now we can start our assembly so let's take
our card base and our copper card stock
and if you open up your card base when you're matting you're also find so you
get a much more even mat because your card stocks not bouncy it's gonna give
you a really nice even way to work it's not gonna move around in you it was
closed like this you have that little bit of play and when you start to put
your layers down you'll find you don't get quite the same effect I find I get
much better result this way you know finally onto this piece little bit more
tricky everybody I'm serious you could also use some of the Elizabeth craft
hair tape which is really strong if you're putting it through the mail I
really would recommend some of that and you'll find anyway on the right way like
so now I'm not going to add a center to this I think it's festive enough you
could add some merry Christmas's you can add a small dike at the bottom or you
can maybe handwrite something if you're really good at your lettering you'll see
on your screen right now some close-ups of those gorgeous baubles
and all the shimmer that is in there as well plus the bows and the evergreens
and all those wonderful details we added with the distress inks thanks so much
