Mummy Dogs ~ Tasty Halloween Dinner Idea ~ Crescent Wrapped Hot Dog ~ Noreen's Kitchen - Duration: 8:03.
Hi everyone, I'm Noreen and welcome to my kitchen today, we have a ghoulish treat for Halloween
I think all children young and old are going to love these mummy dogs
We're gonna be making these in the airfryer to make things super fast and easy and I think you're gonna love them
So let's go see how these mummy dogs all come together
Today we're gonna be making something fun for Halloween this might be something if you have
Younger kids it might be a lot of fun to choose to do for Halloween night dinner before trick-or-treating commences
So we're gonna be making mummy dogs, and these are super fast. We're gonna make them in our air fryer
This is our power air fryer XL. We're gonna be making them in here tonight and
You can I'm gonna do four for you today. I may do four off-camera, and we'll see what they look like all together
It'll be really cute. We're gonna wrap these in crescent roll dough and make them up to look like mummies
We're gonna give a mustard eyes and a bloody head wound so
Isn't that fun for Halloween who wouldn't love that
So really this is super simple
I have some kosher hot dogs and one tube of the regular-sized
Crescent roll dough and what I've done is I've unrolled it and you can see that
I did not separate the triangles in fact. I pinched them together and over here. I just took my knife, and I I just
Cut down strips
So we can wrap them around the hotdogs
It's just going to be super simple and this is another fun way to get your kids involved
you can invite them into the kitchen because you know sometimes little kids get really excited because it's Halloween and
This gives them something to help calm them down because you're gonna give them a task to do
You know because all they want to do is put on that costume and go get candy so
this may be a fun way to get them a
Little more calm down before dinner time rolls around if they have a role in making the dinner
They're gonna eat the dinner so you're gonna take your hotdog, and I'm just gonna grab a paper towel
Because what you want to do is you want to dry it off
You don't want a whole lot of residual moisture on there, and then you're just gonna start
from the bottom, and then you're just gonna kind of wrap it you can crisscross it and
Wrap it
There is no wrong way to do this
But I do feel like you should start at the back so that your seam is like
Back there if at all possible, but again, it's gonna be all covered up
See like this one fell apart, but it's all good just get it on there
The mummy was not perfect, so he was just all bandaged up haphazardly
Now when you get up here
What you want to do is you just want to leave a little bit of space there for his eyes
Just like that boom
I'm just gonna set this in the airfryer just like that
I'm gonna go ahead, and I'm gonna wrap the rest of them, and I'll be back before we start this up
all right our mummy dogs are all wrapped and ready to go in the airfryer and
The one thing I will say is you kind of want to make sure that they're not touching
So you want a little bit of space in between it?
I know this vessel isn't super big
You can do for mummy dogs at once so if you want to do a whole package of hot dogs
You're gonna need one roll of crescent roll dough and eight hot dogs so a package of hot dogs
Unless they're Hebrew national, which only comes with seven in a package
Please don't ask me why I don't know the answer to that mystery, so we're gonna close the drawer
And then we're going to set this
for 310 degrees for
8 minutes then we'll come back, and we'll show you what they look like
now I was also gonna mention that if you don't want to use crescent roll dough you can use puff pastry dough and
If you use puff pastry dough you'll want to set that for 12 minutes because that's gonna take a little longer to cook
if you don't have an air fryer you certainly can make these in your oven and
You're gonna want to put those in the oven at
350 degrees for about 15 to 18 minutes or until the crescent roll dough is cooked who doesn't like
You know a crescent dog. I grew up with them. I think they're fantastic
And every now and then it's a lovely treat, and I think your kids are gonna like this
So we're gonna be back when these come out
All right these are all done and ready to plate up and now we're gonna. Go have some fun and make our mummies look
distressed and
Wicked, so I'll be right back

I went ahead and I gave them some ghoulish mustard yellow eyes, and I made them bleed from their brains because you know mummys
So we've got some ketchup and some mustard you can do yours up any way you want?
I have actually seen some that call for those little candy eyes, but are your kids don't get enough candy on Halloween
I don't think you need to start them off with candy eyes on their hotdogs I
Personally would not do that but that's just me these are super fast and easy and I think your kids are gonna
have a lot of fun even helping you make them before they get to dress up in their costume and go out and
Get all their booty, so I think these are cute, and they smell really good
And they really harken back to my childhood you know when I was a kid pillsbury used to make hot dog wraps
In a tube like they make the crescent rolls in the biscuits. They stopped making those like in the mid 80s and
They used to come in different flavors
They used to come like in plain
And they had cheese ones and they had I think they had four flavors
My mom bought them a couple of times and they were fun, but you know sometimes even now
I will make crescent dogs in the oven like in the middle of winter. It's just fun
It's something different than just having hot dogs for dinner, and then you pair that with salad and macaroni and cheese
And it's a lot of fun
you can make a really quick mac and cheese that has sliced green olives in it that look like eyeballs and
That would be a fun thing to put on the table for your kids for Halloween dinner

Improve your Writing: Show, Not Tell - Duration: 6:08.
Welcome back to engVid. Here we are with a writing lesson. We are looking at the skill
of showing, not telling, and it's going to transform your writing as long as you put
it into practice afterwards. "Show, not tell. What's he talking about?"
When we're writing we want to avoid simple statements that don't really add any description
or flavour. For example: "The man was stressed." [Snores] Boring. Instead, I want you to paint
a picture, I really want you to describe the man is stressed without telling me that he
is. So how can you do that? We're kind of trying to avoid this word, and describe it
instead. So what's he doing? "The man was fidgeting. Ah, he's fidgeting. He's so stressed,
he can't sort of stay still. And biting his nails." Okay? So pick out a couple of details
that show how the person was.
Next one: "The room was messy." Again, it's a simple, simple sentence. It's just one sort
of main clause and it's not very interesting. Much better to describe the items in the room
that make it messy. For example: "There was a leftover pizza, dirty clothes were strewn"...
I'll write that word for you. That means they were covering the floor. "...and there were
dirty plates and cups". Okay? These details give us the idea that it is messy.
Example three: "The woman was confident." Okay, but it would be much more effective
if you described how she was confident. So, how does she move? How do other people react
to her? "She strode", that means she walked, but with purpose. Okay? So I've picked an
interesting verb. "She strode into the room, and everyone turned their heads to notice
her." Okay? Much clearer, more vivid idea of confidence than just saying she was confident.
Example four: "The boy was careful." Tell us how he was careful. "He placed his favourite
magazine in the top drawer of his cabinet." Okay? So we need to say exactly what he is
placing, the object there has been missed out. "He placed"... There's no room for me
to write it. You get the idea, he places his favourite book or magazine, and look how specific
it is: "the top drawer of his cabinet".
Next example: "The stadium was full." Again, I'm bored with this simple sentence construction.
We need to make it more interesting. "The sound from the stadium was deafening", okay?
And then give us some main action perhaps: "The sound from the stadium was deafening
as the crowd rose up to chant the player's name." Okay? Give the sense that the stadium
is full from what you can see and what you can hear. Okay?
A couple of ones to describe weather. "It was hot." Okay? Well, a very young child could
write a sentence like that, so if you're sort of a teenager or an adult, it's time to raise
the bar. How can we tell that it is hot? Well: "The sun was causing damage to", "The sun
was melting", "The sun was burning", "The sun was causing the lady's skin to turn red".
Okay? Pick out details that show the effect.
"It was cold. It was cold." How do we know it was cold? How cold did it feel? What can
you see? "Drainpipes were freezing, ice was as thick as"... I don't know. "It was three
inches thick." Whatever, you've got to show details rather than just stating things. -"It

'Dogphobia'? S. Korea to tighten regulations on negligent dog owners - Duration: 3:38.
There has been a spate of dog bite injuries in South Korea in recent weeks.
As a result,... the government is looking to set stricter regulations on pet management.
This includes widening the scope of dog breeds required to wear muzzles and upping the fine
for violations by owners.
Lee Jeong-yeon has the story.
A hot keyword these days: 'dogphobia'.
But how could this be in a country where more than 10-million households have pets?
It all started when a Korean businesswoman died earlier this month, six days after being
treated for a bite from a French bulldog, owned by K-pop star and actor Choi Si-won.
The buzz led the Korean government to revisit the current law.
(Korean) "The current animal protection law doesn't
have a separate clause for dog attacks, so owners have only been punished for negligence
in such cases.
We will consider making laws to establish a legal framework specifically for dog attacks."
The current South Korean law stipulates that 6 breeds of dogs are required to be leashed
and muzzled in public, and the government has said it will expand the scope of the law
to cover more breeds.
The current fine of 45 U.S. dollars for first-time violators will also be revised to around 180
dollars, with around 270 and 440 dollars for second and third time violations.
From March next year, the government will also offer rewards for reporting owners walking
dogs without leashes.
This is still relatively light compared to other countries.
In the U.S., injury by pet is punishable with a fine of 1,000 US dollars to 6-months of
jail time.
It is stricter in the U.K., where the owner can be sentenced to 5 years in jail for their
dog causing injuries, and up to 14 years for death.
(Stand-up) The stronger punishment for owners involved
in pet attacks is supposed to compel the owners to take responsibility for their animals.
This may be effective to some degree, but experts say more preventative measures need
to be put in place to solve the overarching issue of pet management.
(Korean) "Problems like the recent incident cannot
be resolved by simply strengthening the punishment.
A detailed system should be put in place such as registering and vaccinating pets, and educating
potential pet owners beforehand."
Experts in pet training also agree to raising the bar for potential pet owners.
(Korean) "The pet-culture in Korea is relatively young,
so not many people realize the necessity and diversity of pet education.
If owners are properly educated prior to having pets, we would have less problems."
In the U.K., people who want to own certain breeds need court approval, and the U.S. has
a licensing system.
The South Korean government announced on Monday that new guidelines will be set to include
compulsory safety education for owners of specific dog breeds.
(Korean) "I think it's good they're revising the law.
It will make owners more alert about managing their dogs in public.
Accidents happen unexpectedly so I also keep my dog on a leash."
(Korean) "Dogs are like people.
If they lack social skills, they will take a defensive stance when met with strangers,
and attack when they feel threatened."
The expert adds that eventually it's up to the owners to take precautions and manage
their pets properly if an attack occurs.
Pet etiquette, or "Petiquette" must be kept... meaning owners shouldn't think that their
pets are exceptions to causing accidents, and others should respect boundaries and ask
the owner's permission before handling the animals.

I'll let you into a secret.
There's a place that gets me every time: whenever I'm there, I can't help but well
up.
Where is this tear-inducing location?
It's thousands of metres high in the sky, in the cabin of an aeroplane.
Especially when there's a trashy romantic comedy on.
Why am I admitting this now?
Because apparently, I'm not alone.
English crooner Ed Sheeran confesses to getting all emotional when flying too.
And get this: a survey carried out by Gatwick Airport in London found that 15% of men confess
they're more likely to cry during films in planes than watching at home.
And 41% of men owned up to burying themselves in the blankets to hide their tears in a separate
survey by Virgin Atlantic.
In all, 55% of air travellers in the Virgin study claimed they experience heightened emotions
when flying.
So, what's going on?
How does air travel tap into our hidden emotions?
A study from the Netherlands has shown adults cry due to feelings of separation, loneliness
or powerlessness.
All of these are easily experienced when flying: you're far from family, often alone, and
have no control over the aircraft's flight.
Another theory relates to the lack of distraction.
When you're strapped into your seat in a sealed cabin in the sky, there's not a lot
you can do.
So we are able to invest ourselves more fully into the movies we watch.
Then there's the physical space.
Air pressure and oxygen levels are lower, and this can affect our mental state.
Conditions in an aeroplane resemble those at an altitude of 2,400m.
The reduced oxygen at this height can affect the brain.
According to a study by the US Institute of Medicine: "the initial mood experienced
at altitude is euphoria, followed by depression."
And what about the movies themselves?
Virgin say top culprits include tearjerkers such as Billy Elliot, Eat Pray Love and, at
number one position, Toy Story 3.
Their emotional firepower even caused the aeroplane to slap tongue-in-cheek "emotional
health warnings" on select movies back in 2011.
Virgin Atlantic film critic Jason Solomons said at the time, "On a flight, we're isolated,
leaving loved ones or aching to be reunited with them.
We're nervous, we're tired, we might have had a drink at a time we usually wouldn't,
and if we see an image, a scene that reflects our emotional state, frankly we're suckers.
Flying and films is a heady cocktail.
