Youtube daily report w Feb 3 2018

In April of 2005 two American university students named Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman had

an idea for a mobile food ordering service called My Mobile Menu.

The service would allow you to order food on your phone and thus bypass the need for queues.

But this was 2005, before the iPhone and the subsequent smartphone revolution so convincing

the public to use their Snake machines for something more practical would be next to impossible.

The idea was simply too far ahead of its time.

So while brainstorming for a new idea, they eventually decided to abandoned the mobile

market in favor of a news aggregation website which an investor defined as:

"The front page of the internet."

This would later become the adopted slogan of the website which they initially called

Snew, a portmanteau of "what's new".

The intention was for people to ask "what's snew?" and as such they would essentially

answer their own question.

Unfortunately the domain name had already been taken.

Other potential names included Oobaloo, 360Scope, HotSnoo, RipeFresh, DoseDose and numerous others.

Eventually the name Reddit was suggested by Ohanian and, much like Snew, Reddit is a portmanteau of

"read it" as in "I read it on Reddit."

The term Snew was later repurposed as the name for the mascot of the company except

with an alternate spelling.

On the 23rd of June, 2005, Reddit along with it's fantastic misuse of whitespace made its debut.

The very first post, submitted by Ohanian himself, is titled The Downing Street Memo

and remains online to this day.

Over the following months both Ohanian and Huffman created numerous fake account in order

to populate the desolate website with interesting links to give any unsuspecting visitors the

illusion of a thriving online community.

Much like what Google+ is doing today.

A commenting system would not be implemented until December and, with typical Reddit enthusiasm,

the very first comment on the submission announcing the ability to comment is someone complaining

about the fact that comments are now a thing.

The announcement to allow users to create their own subreddit in March of 2008 provoked

an equally enthusiastic response but now, over a decade later, it is difficult to imagine

the website without comments and specialized communities.

Throughout the mid-to-late 2000s Reddit was in fierce competition with another very similar

website known as Digg.

Reddit was launched a few months after Digg but the main features were more or less same.

You could post links, discuss those links, and vote them up or down.

For many years, Digg was far more popular than Reddit but this would all change in August

of 2010 when Digg essentially committed suicide by launching a highly controversial redesign

simply known as Version 4.

The overhaul came after years of scandals and poor decisions and served as the final

catalyst for the site's eventual downfall.

The redesign removed or stifled many popular features, disproportionately favor advertisers,

and alienated its core userbase.

A few days after implementation, users protested the redesign by flooding the frontpage with

links to the site's competitor, Reddit, triggering a mass migration.

Thousands of Diggers became Redditors over night and they never looked back.

Daily visitors fell by 26% in less than a month and searches for Reddit quickly surpassed that of Digg.

Over on Reddit new accounts skyrocketed and five days after Digg's redesign, 14% of Reddit's

total traffic came from Digg and that's not accounting for direct traffic nor the

elderly method of browsing the web.

Naturally, Reddit capitalized on their rival's misstep by welcoming the newcomers and even

changed the logo to resemble that of Digg's.

To better illustrate this downfall I took the liberty to collect the highest ranked

post on the frontpage of Digg for each day between the months of May and December of 2010.

As you can see, the decline is quite evident and many would argue that this blunder is

largely responsible for Reddit's subsequent dominance of this space.

As Reddit now prepares for a major overhaul of its own, who knows, maybe history will repeat itself.

To maximize the exposure of a submission on Reddit your goal should naturally be to reach

the frontpage.

Now, regardless if you're a bot disguised as a person or an advertising firm disguised

as a person how exactly does one go about doing that?

Is there a magic formula to reaching the top?

Well sure.

Time of day, submission type, phrasing of the title, buying upvotes, etc. will all have

an effect on the success of your submissions.

But the average Redditor might tell you, rather cynically, that the most effective method

of accumulating karma is to copy and steal from others.

Unfortunately, their cynicism appears to be justified.

A study from 2013 found that within a 17 day period 52% of the submissions that reached

the frontpage had previously been posted within that same period.

Meaning that 52% of the submissions were reposts while the other 48% were either original or

reposts that merely fell outside the given time frame.

In other words, you are more likely to reach the frontpage by reposting a preexisting submission

than if you were to post something original.

It only makes sense then for the findings of this study to have been reposted several

times over and for one of the most upvoted submissions of all time to be complaining

about the ubiquity of reposts.

Using Google's Ngram Viewer it's possible to graph the frequency of any given term across

millions of books and texts spanning many centuries.

If we do a search for Reddit we find that the word has been in use since as far back

as the 18th century.

While the graph may going downhill it is in fact unrelated to the website.

You see, long before the creation of reddit.com the portmanteau actually served as the punchline

to an old joke, featured here in an archived Usenet post from 1990.

You can pause and readdit if you'd like.

In addition, Reddit is actually a surname.

But the main reason for this apparent anachronism is the that reddit is a word in Latin.

In Latin the verb reddo can be translated as "return", "restore", or "to give back".

The verb can then be conjugated as reddit meaning "it returns" or redditor meaning "one who returns".

Although, other possible definitions include "to repeat" and "to imitate" so it's not entirely

inaccurate to say that Reddit literally means to repost.

On May the 2nd, 2015, a user by the name of RBradbury1920 posted a story to the /r/LegalAdvice

subreddit in which they expressed concern over some mysterious post-it notes they had

found in their apartment.

The notes contained information which they had not revealed to anyone else and they could

not remember writing the notes themselves.

Initially suspecting their landlord of posting the notes they consulted Reddit for advice

on how to proceed.

However, user Kakkerlak offered an alternative explanation.

They suggested that the post-it notes had in fact been written by Bradbury themselves

but that carbon monoxide poisoning could be affecting their memory.

A few hours later, Bradbury confirmed Kakkerlak's theory with the help of a carbon monoxide detector.

The apartment had indeed been flooded with dangerous levels of the odorless gas by way

of a nearby parking space and as such induced sporadic lapses in memory.

In later updates, Bradbury explained that the poisoning caused brain swelling and that

it took over a year for them to fully recover.

It's entirely possible that Kakkerlak saved Bradbury's life with that simple comment as

a few more days or weeks in that apartment could've proved fatal.

If you've been using Reddit for a while chances are that you've seen a comment like this one.

It usually works like this.

A submission or comment makes a statement with two subjects.

Someone then pretends to misunderstand the statement by switching the subjects.

Someone then points out the formulaic nature of the joke by replying:

"Ah, the ol' Reddit switch-a-roo."

While linking back to a previous instance of the joke.

In short, it's a site-specific meme with a dedicated subreddit and everything.

The reason I bring this up is that in 2015, a user by the name of faymontage took advantage

of this back-linking to create this intricate web of switch-a-roos.

Each node represent an instance of the meme and it goes on for years.

The longest chain is 1427 comments long and goes all the way back to the original comment,

posted by user jun2san on June the 27th, 2011.

Effectively proving that yeah this is a very formulaic joke.

On August the 10th, 2011, a user posted a submission to the /r/TodayILearned subreddit

with a link to the Wikipedia page for the movie Cry Baby Lane.

It's a made-for-television horror film which aired on Nickelodeon back in 2000 but due

to poor reception it only aired once.

Ever since people have attempted to recover a copy of the lost film but to no avail.

The film's obscurity generated a lot of wild speculation and some even began to question

the film's existence in the first place.

That is, until a Reddit user by the name of firesaladpeach claimed to own a VHS copy of

the film which they had recorded on the day of its original broadcast.

While many remained skeptical firesaladpeach soon made good on their word by uploading

a video of them filming the playback of the VHS on a TV screen.

Many users then offered to convert the VHS into a modern file format and a few days later

firesaladpeach uploaded the entire feature length version of Cry Baby Lane.

In less than four days Reddit manage to locate a film which countless others had failed to

locate in over a decade.

The interest generated by Reddit subsequent prompted Nickelodeon to rerelease the film

on Halloween of 2011.

Back in January of 2014, the subreddit for the meme-based cryptocurrency Dogecoin decided

it was time to promote the currency on the world stage.

The question was, what would be a good way to promote a digital currency?

One user had the obvious answer.

Winter sports.

You see, the Jamaican bobsled team had to raise some $80,000 in order to compete in

the 2014 Winter Olympics and so the Dogecoin community stepped up to the challenge and

donated some $30,000 worth of Dogecoins.

As such, the team was able to make it to the Olympics.

A few months later, the community came together once more to sponsor yet another race.

Except this time it was a race on wheels.

Dogecoin would now sponsor a NASCAR racecar by raising some $55,000 in a week.

The aptly named Dogecar, or Race God in reverse of course, was plastered with the Dogecoin

logo and was even featured in a NASCAR video game.

And now, if all goes according to plan, a physical representation of Dogecoin will reach

the Moon aboard a Lunar Lander expected to launch in 2019.

Independent research from 2016 found that 77% of all top-voted comments were among the

first 10 top-level comments to be posted on a submission.

Meaning that what you say is not nearly as important as when you say it.

Once a submission has amassed some 50-100 top-level comments your chance of reaching

the top is virtually zero.

The "Best" sorting method, first introduced back in 2009, attempts to counteract this

bias but early-birds clearly have the advantage.

Oh, and another fun fact is that over 70% of submissions with more than 1,000 comments

includes at least one comment about Hitler or Nazis.

And that's with all historical subreddits excluded.

Although, too be fair, this statistic does not take context into account.

Back in 2011, a user by the name of A858DE45F56D9BC9

began dumping strings of mysterious code into a self-titled subreddit.

Puzzled by their meaning and purpose curious Redditors were determined to decipher these

mysterious codes while others accused A858 of being nothing more than a troll intent

on wasting everyone's time.

Eventually a user by the name of fragglet decoded one of the ciphers revealing an ASCII

image of Stonehenge.

This is believed to a be a reference to a previous comment in which a user compared

the enigmatic nature of A858 to that of the famous stone formation in England.

As the years went by, A858 continued to post enigmatic codes while amateur cryptographers

struggled to crack them.

The subreddit would sporadically be set to private only to be reopened for no apparent reason.

Decoded submissions merely added to the confusion as no underlying purpose or pattern could be discerned.

In 2014, A858 posted the same ASCII image of Stonehenge to the /r/pics subreddit on April Fools.

Perhaps this should have been a sign of what was to come.

That is, nothing.

The A858 subreddit was eventually closed for good and the associated account was deleted.

The mods of the subreddit dedicated to solving the mystery claim to have been in contact

with the people behind it and the short version is that A858 was a project funded by an unknown

company for some unknown purpose.

In other words, no one knows what it means or if it ever meant anything in the first place.

A user by the name of F04CB41F154DB2F05A4A launched a similar self-titled subreddit back

in 2012 but unlike A858 it has since been resolved.

Unfortunately, the resolution of F04C is about as anticlimactic as the premature conclusion

of A858 as the decoded messages revealed nothing more than one-liners, memes, and other nonsense.

If only people had listened to this premonition by user Khiraji from 6 years ago.

Alas, the warning went ignored.

Personally, I would never do something like this.

I would never leave hidden clues throughout my videos for my audience to find.

I would never do such a thing.

Never.

But if I did, I would certainly not make it so pointless.

You know, some kind of reward at the end for whoever cracks the code first.

But of course, that's all irrelevant as I would never do such a thing in the fist place.

Remember the way you made me feel.

Such young love but.

Something in me knew that it was real.

Frozen in my head.

Pictures I'm living through for now.

Trying to remember all the good times.

Our life was cutting through so loud.

Memories are playing in my dull mind.

I hate this part paper hearts.

And I'll hold a piece of yours.

Don't think I would just forget about it.

Hoping that you won't forget about it.

Everything is gray under these skies.

Wet mascara.

Hiding every cloud under a smile.

When there's cameras.

And I just can't reach out to tell you.

That I always wonder what you're up to.

Pictures I'm living through for now.

Trying to remember all the good times.

Our life was cutting through so loud.

Memories are playing in my dull mind.

I hate this part paper hearts.

And I'll hold a piece of yours.

Don't think I would just forget about it.

Hoping that you won't forget.

I live through pictures as if I was right there by your side.

But you'll be good without me and if I could just give it some time.

I'll be alright..

Goodbye love you flew right by love.

Pictures I'm living through for now.

Trying to remember all the good times.

Our life was cutting through so loud.

Memories are playing in my dull mind.

I hate this part paper hearts.

And I'll hold a piece of yours.

Don't think I would just forget about it.

Racist Ad Will Make Your Skin Crawl - Duration: 7:24.

FLORIDA HOUSE SPEAKER RICHARD CORCORAN HAS DECIDED HE'S GOING

TO DO DEMAGOGUING LIKES OF WHICH WE HAVEN'T SEEN IN

DECADES.

THERE WERE SIMILAR ADS IN VIRGINIA AND NEW JERSEY AND

THE REPUBLICANS IN THOSE RACES LOST, BUT THAT'S VIRGINIA AND

NEW JERSEY, THOSE ARE DIFFERENT STATES, APPARENTLY THE HOUSE

SPEAKER HERE IS CONSIDERING RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR AT A LATER

TIME SO HE WANTS TO MAKE SURE TO SCARE THE BE JESUS OUT OF PEOPLE

AND DEMAGOGUES ALL LATINOS IN THE STATE.

SO HE'S CHOSEN TO DO

AN AD WHERE HE'S DOING WHAT APPEARS TO BE RECREATION OF KATE

STEINLE'S DEATH, OF COURSE THAT'S NOT REMOTELY TRUE.

LET ME SHOW YOU THE AD AND WE WILL BREAK IT DOWN.

YOUNG WOMAN GUNNED DOWN BY AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT WHO SHOULD

HAVE BEEN DEPORTED BUT WAS PROTECTED BY A SANCTUARY CITY.

I'M RICHARD CORCORAN.

WHEN I HEARD KATIE'S STORY I THOUGHT

ABOUT MY OWN DAUGHTER KATE AND HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO

ANY FAMILY ANYWHERE.

INCREDIBLY, SOME TALLAHASSEE POLITICIANS

WANT TO MAKE FLORIDA A SECTION WHERE A STATE.

ON MY WATCH,

FLORIDA WILL NEVER BE A SANCTUARY STATE.

SPONSORED BY WATCHDOG PAC.

THERE ARE NO BOUNDS IN AMERICAN POLITICS ANYMORE.

ONE

SIDE DEMAGOGUES TO NO END, THE OTHER SIDE USUALLY DOES NOTHING.

LET'S BREAK DOWN THE INSANITY OF THIS AD.

NUMBER ONE, THIS IS SO

BAD IT ALMOST GOES BACK TO BIRTH OF A NATION IN TERMS OF HOW MUCH

IT STEREOTYPES CERTAIN GROUPS.

OH MY GOD, IN THIS CASE, LATINO

IMMIGRANTS, THEY ARE GOING TO COME INTO THE COUNTRY, WALK

AROUND THE SUBURBS, THERE'S A WHITE WOMAN, LET'S GO MURDER HER

RANDOMLY FOR NO REASON.

BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS DO.

IN REALITY WE HAVE 800,000 DREAMERS HERE WHO

WERE UNDOCUMENTED, BROUGHT IN BY THEIR PARENTS WHEN THEY WERE

YOUNG, AND THEY ARE REALLY SUCCESSFUL, A LOT OF THEM HAVE

GONE TO HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE, SOME OF THEM ARE IN THE

MILITARY, WE'VE GONE OVER THIS AND SHOWN YOU THE NUMBERS AND

FACTS, AND THEY ARE AMONG THE MOST LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS IN THE

COUNTRY.

PART OF THE REASON IS IF THEY DON'T ABIDE BY THE LAW

THEY GET KICKED OUT.

SO THEIR NUMBERS ARE WAY BETTER THAN THE

AVERAGE CITIZEN'S.

BUT NOT IF YOU WATCH THIS AD.

IF YOU WATCH

THIS AD, IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING TO MURDER RANDOM WHITE WOMEN IN

THE STREETS.

IT REFERS TO THE KATE STEINLE SITUATION.

IT

HAPPENED IN CALIFORNIA, DO YOU THINK IT'S BECAUSE IN CALIFORNIA

SANCTUARY CITIES LIKE CALIFORNIA JUST ALLOW UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS TO MURDER RANDOM CITIZENS?

IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT

AT ALL.

IN FACT, HERE IS AN INTERESTING PIECE OF EVIDENCE

THAT THAT'S NOT THE CASE, THEY ARRESTED THE GUY, THEY TRIED

HIM, HE WENT TO COURT.

IF IT WAS THE WAY THE REPUBLICANS PAINT

IT, I GUESS SAN FRANCISCO WOULD BE LIKE, CONGRATULATIONS ON

MURDERING THAT WHITE WOMAN, WELL DONE, MR.

IMMIGRANT.

YOU ARE

FREE TO GO.

NO, THAT'S PREPOSTEROUS.

WAS THE FACT

PATTERN LIKE IN THE AD WHERE THERE WAS A PERSON WALKING DOWN

THE STREET, AND AN IMMIGRANT SAYS THERE'S A WHITE WOMAN I CAN

MURDER, BOOM.

NO, THE IDIOT, REPREHENSIBLE PERSON WHO DID THE

STEINLE KILLING PICKED UP A GUN, THE JURY OF HIS PEERS LOOKED AT

IT, THEY DELIBERATED ON THE CASE FOR A LONG TIME, AND THEY THINK

THAT WHEN HE PICKED IT UP ACCIDENT HE FIRED, RICOCHETED

OFF OF SOMETHING ELSE, AND THEN HIT KATE AND SHE WOUND UP DYING.

ME, I COVERED THE CASE ON THE SHOW, I DON'T CARE, I THINK THEY

SHOULD HAVE CONVICTED HIM ANYWAY.

DON'T PICK UP THE GUN.

YOU KNOW WHY?

GUNS FIRE BULLETS AND SOMETIMES THEY RICOCHET AND

HIT PEOPLE AND THEY DIED.

SO I WOULD HAVE CONVICTED HIM.

BUT WE

WENT THROUGH THE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND THEY CONVICTED HIM ON GUN

CHARGES AND HE'S IN JAIL TODAY.

SO WHAT DOES A SECTION WHERE HE

CITY ACTUALLY DO?

HERE THINK PROGRESS EXPLAINS IT FAIRLY CLEARLY --

THAT

IS WHY CRIME RATES ARE LOWER IN SANCTUARY CITIES, NOT

HIGHER.

BECAUSE IT ALLOWS UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE TO COME

FORWARD AND SAY THERE WAS A CRIME WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING

ARRESTED THEMSELVES FOR BEING UNDOCUMENTED.

THAT ALLOWS THE

POLICE TO DO BETTER POLICE WORK AND ARREST THE ACTUAL CRIMINALS.

CRIME RATES IN SANCTUARY CITIES ARE LOWER, NOT HIGHER.

BUT IF

YOU WATCH DEMAGOGUEING ADS LIKE THAT, OH MY GOD, THE IMMIGRANTS

ARE COMING TO MURDER OUR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS, ETC., AND I

WONDER WHERE THOSE IMMIGRANTS ARE FROM.

WE'VE GONE BACK 100

YEARS NOW WITH ADS LIKE THIS.

AND THEY DON'T CARE AT ALL, THEY

ARE JUST LIKE, WE ARE GOING TO SMEAR THESE PEOPLE.

AND THEN

THEY WILL TURN AROUND AND GO, RACE?

US, RACIST?

OH, WE WOULD

NEVER.

HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY CHARGE US WITH THAT?

IT'S GROSS

WHAT THEY ARE DOING, AND THEY ARE DIVIDING THE COUNTRY AND

RIPPING US APART.

GUYS LIKE THIS ARE LOATHSOME, THEY SHOULD BE

RUN OUT OF OFFICE AND RUN OUT OF TOWN.

WE'VE GOTTEN TO A REALLY

SICK STATE IN THIS COUNTRY WHERE THEY ARE TRYING TO CONVINCE YOU

THAT THE MOST POWERLESS PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY, THE GUY WHO JUST

CROSSED THE BORDER BECAUSE HE DESPERATELY NEEDS MONEY FOR HIS

FAMILY TO LIVE, HE'S WILLING TO TAKE WAGES THAT ARE TOO LOW --

YOU WANT TO ARGUE AGAINST THAT FOR OTHER REASONS LIKE

EMPLOYMENT, I GET IT, THAT'S FAIR, YOU WANT TO SAY THEY HAVE

TO FOLLOW THE LAW, THAT'S FAIR -- BUT TO DEMAGOGUE AND SAY THEY

ARE CRIMINALS AND RAPISTS AND TO RUN ADS LIKE THIS TO PICK PEOPLE

AGAINST ONE ANOTHER, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TO PRETEND THAT

THAT'S THE GUY WHO'S CAUSING YOUR PROBLEMS?

NO, THE REASON

THAT YOUR WAGES ARE LOW ART BECAUSE OF THE GUYS AT THE

BOTTOM, IT'S BECAUSE OF THE GUYS AT THE TOP.

THEY ARE THE ONES

WHO RIGGED THE SYSTEM.

THEY DIDN'T RIG IT ON BEHALF OF

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS, THEY ARE STILL THE POOREST AND THE

MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY.

THEY RIGGED IT IN FAVOR

OF THE POWERFUL.

THAT'S WHY YOU ARE PAYING HIGHER TAXES,

CORPORATIONS ARE PAYING LOWER TAXES.

THAT'S WHY YOUR WAGES ARE

LOW EVEN THOUGH YOUR PRODUCTIVITY IS SKY HIGH.

IF YOU

ARE LOOKING TO FIGURE OUT WHO IS AT FAULT FOR YOUR WAGES BEING

STAGNANT, FOR THE PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING IN YOUR COMMUNITY,

DON'T LOOK DOWN.

LOOK UP.

Everything You Need to Know About Eyelash Extensions | Mermaid Edition - Duration: 6:16.

Mermaid lashes - this is going to be hectic!

oh my gosh!

Hey guys! So I'm here at "Envious Lashes" here with

a celebrity lash stylist Clementina Richardson

so she's actually going to be helping me

do this mermaid lash that we have here

so can you tell me a little bit about the trend

it's all about color

so what we're going to do

is a combination of purple, blue

of course we need to add some black in there

along with some red

so the extensions are attached directly

to the natural lash

using a medical-grade adhesive, two tweezers

there's no touching of the eyes whatsoever

you definitely will use a combination of

different lengths, different curvatures

in order to contour and create whatever

artistic style you're going for

we're gonna show you all the different colors

they have here

so let's get into it. let's do it

so first step is the consultation process

you have really great natural lashes

so in order to best accentuate your eyes

I'll have to decide

what type of curvature would look best on you

now turn facing forward

so what I'm looking at is

the curvature of the natural lashes

which is super super straight

you can see that they stick straight out

so you want them to lift up

if your lashes grow on one straight line

that means that your lashes are very sparse

color wise I'm thinking at least three colors

okay so let's have a look at the colors.

okay here we have red, we have the gold-tone

we have green, purple, blue, teal and the lilac

that's what it looks like

when it's individual

I'm not going to do the green

because I don't want you to look like Christmas

so I'm thinking red, blue, purple

yeah

and we decided on the cat eye style

so the longest ones would be on the outer corner

yes because of this type of styling we're doing

we're doing a cat eye

so yes the longest is definitely on the outer corners

I'm so curious what the red looks like

everyone has the same reaction

when they look in the mirror

oh oh it's gonna be bright

I'm like, no

the left hand is holding an isolation tweezer

and then once it's isolated

I pick up a strand on with my right hand

and attach it to the existing natural lash

so what this does it cures the bond and

it's also good for the stinging

feels good

at this point, I actually hadn't seen what I look like

but it kind of felt like a peacock was on my eye

let's move on to the other half of the eyes

and we'll do the big reveal at the end

everyone's lifestyle is different

so I have to see what they like

so showing pictures

the way a client actually wears their makeup too

also helps me out because

if you wear a dramatic smoky eye that tells me

you want like a lots of volume

and you like a dramatic look

and what necessary looks good on your friend

may not look good on you

everyone has two different eye shapes

different skin tone, different natural lashes

different textures

so take a look and tell me

what you think about them

oh my gosh

oh my gosh they're so natural

when you see both of them together

it just completes the look

we give her a nice like almond shape

we transferred slowly into purple, red combination

of course black is throughout the entire lash line

we went back again with purples

a little bit of blue, red, and black

and the longer ones were towards the outer ends

so now her eyes look like round and almond

they are rounder

even though we did the cat eye

yes, this is definitely wearable

coming in, I was like mermaid lashes

this is going to be hectic!

this is going to be crazy!

we always get the same reaction

people always think it's gonna be more dramatic

than it actually is

oh I can definitely do this

alright guys so as you can see

it was not intimidating at all

it's mermaid lashes

but it's still so wearable

and there's like pops of color

that I just didn't think would show up the way it did

was this what you envisioned at the beginning

when we were like, let's do it

you know what, it came out fuller than I thought

because her natural lashes are really dense

and she has like many different layers

I would say throughout her lash line

she has anywhere from like two to four

different layers of lashes

yeah who knew there were layers of lashes

layer of lashes are good

because the more layers you have

the fuller look you can achieve

and this one here actually guessed almost to the tee

how many lashes was on my right side

just by looking at it, you guessed 115

and there was 113

Wow! I've been doing it so long

I think I can just eyeball it

I can just see from the density

it looks about...

I was on point

so how would you say is a good way to maintain

or like to make them stay this way

obviously no rubbing the eyes whatsoever

try to avoid touching them with your fingers like this

because the fingertips

you tend to have oil on your fingers and

oil is not good for the extensions

what it does is it's going to break down the bond

and make your lashes shed prematurely

no picking of the lashes whatsoever

so as far as makeup removers, it must be oil-free

so this just sped up my morning process

so much quicker

I don't have to do mascara and all that

and you definitely don't want to

apply mascara over the lash extensions

you're gonna be creating excessive weight on them

so thank you so much Clem

for having me here at "Envious Lashes"

if you guys are curious it's on the 31st St & Fifth Ave

so check it out

if you want to advance your lash game

make yourself fabulous

yes!

and we'll customize you! Mhmm

And we'll see you later, bye!

Top 10 Facts - Reddit - Duration: 15:58.

LOOK UP.

The Story of Bengi: The Jungle Himself - Duration: 15:14.

Caster: "This is when bengi has to step up to save SKT"

Caster: "On blue side, remember with bengi in they do not have a Nidalee player. You cannot give Peanut Nidalee.

We talked about how you need adaptation and now you're forced to ban Nidalee on Blue side.

This could be the last game of the night or if bengi has anything to say, we go to a game five."

Already a two-time World Champion, Bengi was supposedly over the hill.

But Bengi was a World Champion.

And with everything on the line, SKT needed a win.

A veteran voice to show them the path to victory. They needed Bengi.

After all, they've never won Worlds without him.

This is Bengi's story

Bae "Bengi" Seong-woong was born on November 21, 1994 and not much is known about his life before League of Legends.

Bengi's first recorded games were on an amateur team called BBT, which played in a

Korean secondary league known as NLB.

On that team, he played alongside legendary support player Cho "Mata" Se-hyeong.

(Casting)

After the team disbanded, bengi ended up at a tryout for SK Telecom's new sister team,

SK Telecom T1 K.

And though he left midway because he felt he wasn't good enough to make the team,

coach Kim "kkOma" Jeong-gyun saw something great in the young jungler and managed to

pull him back. SKT was built around a young solo queue star that was turning heads at

the time, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok.

(Casting)

The team was designed to be aggressive, capitalizing on Faker's playstyle.

It worked.

(Casting)

SKT's sister team placed third in Champions Spring, and posted impressive results in their

debut season.

But more importantly, they had the potential to be great .

MonteCristo: "All aboard the Korean hype train, SK Telecom T1."

The team went 12-4 in the summer season and qualified for Worlds 2013 where they swept

Royal Club in the Grand Finals to take home their first world championship.

(Casting)

SKT returned home to Korea as champions, and they didn't slow down for even a second.

(Casting)

SKT won Champions Winter with a perfect record and were

without a doubt the best team in the world.

But amidst all the success, few noticed Bengi's playstyle slowly shifting.

His early game aggression, a hallmark of SKT's fast-paced bulldozer playstyle, gave way to

something more supportive.

Bengi was Faker's invisible guardian.

He was the man who set up Faker for the flashy plays that have made him legendary.

There's no question that Faker was the best, but he couldn't have done it without Bengi.

After Champions Winter, SKT started to crumble.

They placed fourth in Champions Spring, and were then swept in a tiebreaker match against

Samsung White which forced them to play in the Regional Finals, where they would eventually

lose to NaJin White Shield 3-1.

(Casting)

Just a few months prior, SKT were the reigning World Champions with a perfect record in their

home region.

But they couldn't keep up.

Bengi wasn't solely blamed for the team's struggles, but the common perception was that

Faker, the greatest player on earth, just couldn't carry his entire team.

SKT rebuilt in the offseason, shedding everyone except for Faker and Bengi.

The god and his right hand man.

But even so, people were ready to write off Bengi.

He was part of a roster that not even Faker could carry, and his mechanics were seen as

being out of date.

Younger players were faster, more adaptable, and had deeper champion pools.

(Casting)

In 2015, SKT

signed Im "T0M" Jae-hyeon as a substitute for Bengi, and swapped between the two junglers

throughout the season.

What was telling though, was the fact that SKT elected to play Bengi for all three games

of their finals series against the GE Tigers.

A series SKT went on to win 3-0.

(Casting)

In interviews, Bengi said that watching T0M play helped him regain his confidence after

his abysmal 2014 season.

That's right.

Bengi, the guy who walked out of tryouts only to be pulled back in, needed a rookie to remind

himself how good he could be.

SKT went on to win the summer season, punching their ticket to Worlds in the process.

Fortunately for Bengi, SKT took mid lane substitute, Lee "Easyhoon" Ji-hoon to the tournament,

meaning that Bengi was the only jungler the team would field at Worlds.

SKT went on to win the tournament, giving Faker and Bengi their second world championship

in three years.

(Casting)

But even with a second world championship under his belt, people still kept harping on Bengi.

Ahead of the Spring 2016 season, SKT signed Kang "Blank" Sun-gu, and started him for most

of the regular season.

Bengi only played in 17 of SKT's 41 games in the spring, and rode the bench throughout

the playoffs.

Caster: "I wish I could have been watching their scrims. Watching them decide between Blank and Bengi

because from what we've seen both of them have been pretty poor."

SKT started Bengi more often in the summer, but

as the season wore on, Bengi lost more and more and was benched after just 14 games.

Again, Blank played in the playoffs instead of Bengi.

Caster: "Blank, the one thing you can say about him, has stepped up when he's needed to. You think back to LCK final you think back to MSI final.

He was good in those series and he's gonna need to be good today"

SKT took Bengi with them to Worlds in 2016, but he only played in two games during the

group stage.

SKT started Bengi against Royal in the quarterfinals, but after losing Game 1, quickly subbed him

out for Blank.

Jatt: "I like the substitution for them. I think Blank has been their go-to for the majority of the season and I was surprised whenever we would see Bengi.

If they weren't going to make it a permanent thing I thought it was because of his world championship experience.

But this SKT team has won the IEM World Championship with Blank, they won MSI with Blank and I think if they want to win they should be doing it with Blank."

The writing seemed to be on the wall for Bengi: he was still good, but no longer great.

But in Game 4 of the semifinals, SKT were on the ropes.

Jatt: "SKT have to change things up in this next one because they tried round two of the Miss Fortune lane,

they lost again. They have to change."

And with everything on the line, SKT needed a win.

That's when they called in Bengi

(Casting)

Bengi started in four of SKT's Grand Final games against Samsung Galaxy, going 3-1 and notching

his and Faker's third World Championship in five year, cementing SKT's legacy

as League of Legends' first dynasty.

(Casting)

Surely the entire world would finally see that when Bengi is sitting next to Faker,

no team in the world could stop them.

But Bengi is always doomed to be the bridesmaid, and never the bride.

He's invisible and most importantly he's not Faker.

SKT dropped bengi in 2017 and replaced him with the Tigers' star jungler Han "Peanut"

Wang-ho.

Bengi went off to Vici Gaming in China, where he ended up losing a relegation match and

being dropped from that team too.

(Casting)

SKT had a strong 2017, placing first in the Spring Playoffs and second in the summer,

but they didn't look dominant going into Worlds.

(Casting)

SKT placed second at Worlds in 2017, which marked their first ever loss in a Worlds Grand

Finals series.

Their first time playing at the tournament without Bengi.

YamatoCannon: "It's insane what they did, knowing that they've won three world championships, expecting to win four is natural because of

the dominant streak that they've had, but in all seriousness what they've accomplished, no one is going to come close to this

or sure something is quite close to this with the two victories but in theory it's still incredible what they did.

And maybe it takes one year, maybe it takes two years for them to come back to that same form, but kkOma knows the recipe to success.

SKT knows the recipe for success within League."

It's impossible to say exactly how much bengi impacted SKT's playstyle, and whether

or not he completely altered the way SKT treats junglers moving forwards.

But he's returned to SKT, this time as a coach. Bengi and Faker have

been reunited.

While Bengi is playing an even more supportive, invisible role this time around, one thing

will always remain true: when the unkillable demon king has bengi by his side, nothing

can stop SKT.

Flash vs Deadpool - Duration: 5:24.

Deadpool, vs. The Flash.

Who will win?

Stay tuned to find out.

Hey guys, welcome back to Top 10 Nerd, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

Today I'm bringing you a new entry into our Versus series, where we pit some of the best

heroes and villains against each other and decide who we think would win.

If you want more of these, check out the Versus playlist on the channel.

But for now, we've got the Merc with the Mouth coming up against the Fastest Man Alive.

Let us know who YOU think would win in the comment section down below using #Deadpool

or #Flash!

And don't forget to thumbs up and subscribe while you're down there!

Now buckle up, it's time for Deadpool, vs. The Flash.

Just a few ground rules before we get down and dirty.

I'll be talking about Barry Allen, the Flash that's probably best known by the everyman.

Also, in the name of giving Deadpool a chance against the crazy speed of The Flash, he'll

have an hour to setup a trap, as well as his teleporter and magic satchel.

It'll still be tough, but at least now he's in with a fighting chance.

That said, to win you don't have to kill the enemy, just incapacitate them.

So Deadpool's immortality won't win on its own.

Now, onto the battle!

Okay, origin time.

We've talked about these guys a lot so I'll keep it brief.

Let's start with the Flash!

Barry Allen was born to Henry and Nora Allen in Fallville, Iowa.

He had a twin brother who was given away to another family.

More on that in 10 seconds.

As a boy, Barry's mother was killed, and his father was blamed for it and sent to prison.

Turns out the actual killer was Eobard Thawne, the descendent of Malcolm Thawne, who was

Barry's secret brother.

Look at that, it's a story for this day after all!

Later in life, Barry was doused in a mixture of chemicals during a lightning storm, and

found himself able to move at ridiculous speeds.

He then used this power to fight evil and defend the innocent.

Next: Deadpool.

Wade Wilson was born in good old Canada, and grew up with an abusive, alcoholic father.

He went on to become a mercenary, and unfortunately later developed cancer.

In an attempt to cure it, he entered the Weapon X program, which eventually did allow him

to survive the cancer... at the cost of skin that looks like a scrotum.

But his newfound powers did more than stop the cancer... they gave him insane regenerative

abilities, which I'll get into in the next section.

He then used this power to, well, do whatever he wanted at any given time, for the most

part.

Alright, next up: powers and equipment.

What exactly do these guys bring to the table?

The Flash's powers are pretty well known, so I'll keep it brief.

He's fast.

Okay, I'll expand on that a bit.

Barry can access the speed force, allowing him to reach speeds unheard of in most of

comics.

He can run, think, and attack ridonculously quickly, vibrate his molecules to pass through

solid objects, steal the speed of his enemies... the list goes on.

If you can imagine something that requires a lot of speed, The Flash can probably do

it.

His main weakness is that he relies pretty much entirely on his abilities, and is pretty

cocky about it.

If Deadpool manages to strip his abilities from him, it would be pretty a pretty easy

win.

Moving on to Wade Wilson, Deadpool's powers aren't quite as spectacular as those of The

Flash, but by golly are they useful.

As I said, Deadpool can regenerate at ridiculous rates.

Not only that, he's a master with weapons both melee and ranged, specializing in the

use of his twin katanas.

Sadly, that may not be the most useful against the Flash.

What will be useful, however, are his teleporter and magic satchel, which will allow him to

bring anything he needs, and get out really quickly.

Also, as previously alluded to, Deadpool is immortal.

Not only does his regeneration effectively stop him from dying, but he has Thanos personally

making sure he doesn't die to keep him away from Lady Death.

Unfortunately, Deadpool doesn't have the best record against fast characters, even getting

steamrolled by Ajax's super speed, which doesn't hold a candle to that of The Flash.

So he's got his work cut out for him.

Alright, we've heard about these guys, now it's the moment we've been waiting for...

the battle.

Deadpool arrives to the battle location half an hour before the fight was supposed to occur.

He was supposed to have an hour, but stopped for chimichangas on the way.

But it doesn't matter, because his plan will only take a few minutes to setup.

Out of his bag he pulls Captain Cold's Cold Gun, planning to freeze The Flash right when

the fight starts.

He even spreads marbles around him for good measure.

He hides behind a barrel with the gun and waits.

Just to be safe, he also gets his teleporter ready, so he can quickly hop away after firing,

in case The Flash avoids the shot.

The clock strikes 12, and it's time for the fight.

The Flash strolls into view, looking rather relaxed.

Feeling soooo confident.

But Deadpool knows better.

Keeping one hand behind his back, holding the detonator, he just needs to wait until

Barry is close enough, and the fight is his.

Wade waves at Barry and says "Hey!

Nice costume!

I like red too!"

Barry ignores him, and asks "You ready for this?"

Wade replies "I was born ready.

Bring it on." and the next moment, The Flash runs up, pulls Wade's pants down to his ankles,

grabs the Cold Gun, and freezes Wade in all his half-naked glory, before he even has a

chance to think.

Then Barry sits down and starts flicking marbles at his defeated adversary.

And so, this week's winner is: The Flash.

There we have it, a pretty easy victory for Barry Allen, pretty damn anticlimactic but

what can ya do?

Obviously this was a tough one for me since I friggin love Deadpool, but I just don't

think he could actually do anything against the Flash's speed.

Maybe if he had heaps of plot armour like he did in the Deadpool Kills series he could

do it, but in a straight fight he just wouldn't be fast enough.

Stupid speedsters ruining perfectly good matchups.

The fight could have gone any number of ways, but Deadpool just can't measure up to the

ridiculousness of the speed force.

What do you guys think about this?

Is this about right, or am I underestimating Deadpool's abilities?

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below, and root for YOUR winner using

either #Deadpool or #Flash!

6 CORE TRAINING HACKS that won't add any time to your day - SPEEDY SATURDAY - Duration: 4:40.

- What's up triathlon trainiacs? Triathalon Taren here

with your weekly Speedy Saturday triathlon training tip.

Today, we're going to give you six ways that you

can incorporate a little bit of core training

throughout your day. It's not gonna take you

any more time, plus, you will get the benefit

of looking really cool as you go throughout the day.

Trust me. You're gonna wanna know about this.

So the first tip is to:

Stand on one leg as you're flossing and brushing your teeth.

In addition to getting foot, ankle, knee stability,

you will be developing the foot dexterity

to change the channel without getting up.

(lighthearted music)

Binge watch away.

Number two is to crouch down while you're waiting for:

toast to toast, tea to heat up, microwave to microwave.

Just crouching down a few times a day

for two-to-three minutes at a time.

It's gonna stretch out your lower back,

it's gonna stretch out your hips,

it's gonna stretch out your ankles.

So you wanna get down nice and low,

we're talking butt to heels.

Not to be confused with strutting to meals.

Number three: Get yourself a box, a whole bunch of books,

something to raise up your computer monitor or your laptop,

and stand at a desk.

(♪ I got this feeling inside my bones,

♪ it goes electric baby when I turn it on...) ♪

Trust me. This is going to be really, really good

for all your obliques here, your lower back.

Stand up nice and straight. Activate those glute muscles.

Stand up tall, tilt your pelvis a little bit.

In addition to working on your core, while you're working,

you aren't going to look very different and have people

look at you funny for any more than, like, I don't know,

three-four years until it actually catches on.

(lighthearted music)

What? You've never seen anybody

work at a standing desk before?

Fourth thing, if you're sitting down at a desk,

take a few moments throughout the day to press your feet

down into the floor and hold it, while also tensing up

the muscles and kinda activating the really low abdominals.

You wanna be pressing really, really hard into the floor,

so much that your legs are almost shaking.

(grunting)

Hold it for a couple minutes.

Just stop a couple of points

short of ah...(farts)

Fifth thing, just incorporating into your running program,

making sure that you do a little bit of trail work

instead of just going out on cement

and sidewalks constantly, go out, do some trail work

on different terrains, different surfaces.

It's gonna get that side-to-side lateral movement going,

activating the side muscles, the side glutes,

all that nice side-to-side work, so you're gonna be

working on your core, you're gonna be working on your

stability, and in the right circumstances,

throughout the season, you'll be building up

a tolerance for malaria.

Agh!

Killing myself here for you guys.

Agh.

And sixth and final way that you can just incorporate

a fair bit of core strength and flexibility activation

movement without adding any time to just changing up

your daily routine in your training a little bit,

do really low heavy gear-work on the bike,

paired with really high high-cadence work on the bike.

And what this is going to do is it's gonna teach your core

to have to stay stable and work really hard

and activate itself while you're on the bike.

Ah, I don't really have any catchy thing to say about this.

But I'll let you know that I am in protest of wearing shirts

when I work out until I have a shirt sponsor.

So! If you want that shirt sponsor, we will consider

the comments below a petition.

If you want us to start editing out nipples,

type in the comments below #clipthenip.

- Free the nipple.

- Free the nipple! That's what I say. I like it.

There you go, triathlon trainiacs.

If you aren't yet subscribed, hit that Subscribe

button below and hit the Notification bell to see

every single one of our daily triathlon videos.

If you wanna see our other Speedy Saturday videos,

What If The Earth Was Bigger Than The Sun? - Duration: 3:41.

In case you didn't, know, the sun is bigger than the earth.

Yes, form here, the sun looks like its no bigger than the moon.

But that's because of how far away it is from the earth.

150 million kilometers to be exact.

So how big is the sun?

The sun's radius is 695700 km.

The earth's radius is 6371 kilometers.

That's a huge size difference.

The sun is so big, that 1.3 million earths could fit inside it, and it makes up 99.86

percent of the total mass of our solar system.

So, in short, the sun is really big.

But lets imagine for a second, what would our solar system be like if the earth were

bigger than the sun?

Hello and welcome back to lifes biggest questions.

I'm charlotte dobre.

Don't forget to like and subscribe and let us know in the comments below what topics

you would like to see next.

Firstly, If the earth were bigger than the sun, everything about our solar system would

change.

Currently, the earth's conditions are ideal for supporting life.

The conditions are supported by an equation, where the size of the earth, the distance

between the earth and the sun, as well as the size of our moon all add up to equal life.

Change something in the equation, especially something having to do with the sun, and its

likely that life on this planet would no longer be possible.

Primaily because, well, the earth would be so big, the gravity would be so great that

your bones would instantly break.

That being said, If the earth were bigger than the sun, depending on its density, it

would start fusion in its core, and would become a star itself.

Any planet more than 13 times the mass of Jupiter, which is roughly 4 thousand earth

masses, generates enough heat and pressure in its core to create fusion reactions.

The earth would then be classified as a star, not a planet.

Then, Our solar system would be a binary star system.

Binary systems are star systems that consist of two stars oribiting around their common

barycenter.

Binary star systems are not uncommon, in fact, statistics show that around 80 percent of

the stars In our galaxy are binary stars.

At the same time if the earth was larger than the sun, and also had more mass, the sun would

revolve around the earth.

That's how gravity works.

The object with the most mass is the object with the greatest gravitational pull.

Another thing that would happen is the he entire shape of our solar system would change.

Its likely that many of the other planets wouldn't exist because either the sun or

the earth would engulf them.

The outermost planets like Neptune could likely still exist.

So we know that it would be impossible for life to exist on earth if it were bigger than

the sun, but Does that mean that life would cease to exist in our solar system entirely?

Well, not necessarily.

Yes its true that the evolution of life needs a relatively stable system to develop in.

in binary systems, one or more stars is constantly moving farther and closer from its planets.

This changes the amount of light, heat and radiation they receive, which ultimately would

affect the possibility that life could evolve.

Planets can exist in multiple star systems.

In fact, a frozen rocky planet was recently discovered that was orbiting its two parent

binary stars in a stable earth like orbit.

That being said, the gravitational pull from more than one star can interfere with the

stability of a planet.

Not only that but having two suns raises the chance of a moon being able to support life.

In fact, moons have a better chance of being able to support life in a binary star system

than in single star systems.

According to the American astronomical society, binary stars dampen each others solar radiation

and stellar winds, which means they create a more hospitable environment for life and

increasing the habitable zone.

When you've got a really active bright young star, that bright young star spins really

fast, making them quite violent.

Lots of stellar winds and radiation would make it difficult for life to form near it.

But add another star, and create a binary system, and the other star actually dampens

the effects.

Two stars in the same system will actually synchronize their spins.

How cool would it be to live on a moon with a planet and two stars in the sky?

what a view that would be.

You've been watching life's biggest questions.

If you enjoyed that video, you should also check out our playlist, biggest what ifs,

clickable on the screen right now.

Hidden HBO Gems You Definitely Haven't Seen - Duration: 5:40.

HBO might be best known for producing hit series like The Sopranos, Westworld, and Game

of Thrones, but the pay cable network has consistently churned out quality television

series far beyond its most popular programs.

Some of its finest works have been forgotten by time, even though many of them still hold

up.

If you're looking for another old show stream to fill the void until all those dragons and

theme park hosts are back in action again, here are some of the hidden HBO gems you should

take a look at.

Angels in America

When it debuted back in 2003, Angels in America was a unique television experience, and it

still is.

The six-part miniseries was adapted from the two-part play by Tony Kushner and tells the

story of the AIDS crisis through a magical realist lens.

The miniseries centers on a gay man whose partner abandons him after he's diagnosed

with AIDS.

As if that weren't enough of a burden, he's also visited by an Angel who declares him

a prophet.

The series features an all-star cast that includes Justin Kirk, Ben Shenkman, Mary-Louise

Parker, Emma Thompson, Al Pacino, Patrick Wilson, Jeffrey Wright, and Meryl Streep in

multiple roles, including a brief stint as a male rabbi.

Bored to Death

There's nothing else quite like Bored to Death, a comedy that began in 2009 and ran for three

seasons.

It stars Jason Schwartzman as a writer who decides to distract himself from the daunting

prospect of his next novel by becoming an unlicensed private detective.

Zach Galifianakis plays his best friend, a comic book artist, and Ted Danson appears

as an older friend and mentor who edits an acclaimed magazine where Jonathan writes.

"Oh my God, I have completely failed at the most important thing in life."

Jonathan doesn't take his detective work all that seriously, having learned everything

he knows from Raymond Chandler novels, but as the series goes on, he gets involved in

some surprisingly dire situations.

This show isn't for everybody, but if you're a mystery fan or enjoy comedies about overeducated

stoners failing at things, it might be for you.

Carnivàle

HBO is known for its ambitious original programming, and Carnivàle is a show that aimed incredibly

high, but never got fully off the ground.

However, that doesn't mean it's not an interesting oddity worth a watch, especially for fans

of dark fantasy.

Set in the Dust Bowl of the mid-1930s, Carnivàle is about a traveling carnival, but it's also

about a supernatural battle between destined avatars of good and evil.

When the series started in 2003, creator Daniel Knauf intended it to tell one complex story

over the course of six seasons.

Unfortunately, HBO only ended up giving it two, so most of that story remains untold.

The Comeback

This Lisa Kudrow comedy ran for just two seasons but spanned nine years.

The former Friends star stars as a shallow and self-centered '90s sitcom star trying

to make a return to the fame game with a new sitcom and a reality show.

Unlike Phoebe Buffay, Kudrow's new character is obsessed with her own image, but constantly

fails to make a good impression.

Despite her unlikability, the series also effectively satirizes the sexist and ageist

entertainment industry, which has little room and even less respect for a middle-aged sitcom

actress.

The Comeback was initially canceled after its first season in 2005, but in the years

to come its reputation grew.

In 2014, the show was unexpectedly revived for a second season.

"Still no pages, so I thought I'd just stay up here, stay cool, you know, thinking about

production."

The Comeback was an insightful and biting satire from the start, but the long arc enabled

by such an unusual break between seasons makes it something truly special.

We can only hope it returns for a third season in 2023.

Five Days

This 2007 co-production with the BBC is a mystery series that also serves as an effective

emotional drama.

Each of the five episodes tells the story of one day in the investigation of the mysterious

disappearance of a young mother and her two children, spanning from the very first day

to the 79th day of the search for truth.

This method not only allows the audience to see how much changes as the days, weeks, and

months roll on, but it also introduces a riveting performance by future Selma star David Oyelowo,

who appears as the father whose family vanishes.

Parade's End

Benedict Cumberbatch fans will definitely want to check out Parade's End, which centers

on three people whose lives in Britain are upended by World War I. Opposite Rebecca Hall

and Adelaide Clemens, Cumberbatch plays a rich conservative statistician who is badly

injured in the war.

The entire five-episode miniseries was written by acclaimed playwright Tom Stoppard and directed

by Susanna White, and serves as a formidable British period drama.

Togetherness

Titans of indie filmmaking, brothers Mark and Jay Duplass collaborated with Steve Zissis

to create the pilot for Togetherness, which premiered in 2015 and ran for two seasons.

Mark Duplass plays Brett Pierson, a Los Angeles sound editor with a wife and two kids.

Melanie Lynskey plays his wife Michelle, who's concerned about their romantic life.

Amanda Peet is Tina Morris, Michelle's sister who unexpectedly moves in with their family

after splitting up with her boyfriend in Houston.

Zissis appears as Alex, Brett's best friend, who also moves in when his acting career isn't

going well.

As anyone who's watched a television show could guess, an attraction develops between

Tina and Alex which gets increasingly complicated as the show goes on.

In other ways, starting with the Duplass brothers' dialogue, the show is quite unlike the usual

TV comedies, and its two seasons are well worth a look.

If You've Lost Something, It's Because It Wasn't Really - Duration: 3:27.

If Youve Lost Something, Its Because It Wasnt Really Yours

by Giridhari Das

HOW TO DEAL WITH LOSS?

What you lost was not the person or object.

That was never yours.

Youre not the ultimate owner of anyone or anything.

You lost the illusion that it was yours.

And thats whats making you hurt.

The brutal reencounter with the reality that nothing is yours deeply disturbs those who

base their lives on the illusion that happiness comes claiming ownership of things and people.

Not even your body is yours.

Did you make your body?

I didnt make mine.

A rock, a fiber of cotton, water, earth none of this is yours.

You cant make any of this.

For those who have activated their devotion, the concept is easy enough to understand:

everything belongs to God.

This concept is central to yoga and essential for living in peace: nothing belongs to you.

You are just you.

Consciousness.

The soul.

Thats why things enter and leave your life beyond your control.

Because they are not yours.

When we dont understand this, inevitably we experience the harsh lesson of loss.

And what about losing loved ones?

Its beyond awful.

So much pain.

But that person was never yours.

The person was never really your brother or your mother.

You never owned that person.

The person was an eternal soul who came and played that part in your life, and now he

or she is gone.

Every relationship here has a beginning and an end.

I was born, I will die.

You were born, you will die.

The pain of separation can be mitigated with a dose of reality: every person has always

existed and will always exist.

Only your time with that person, under those conditions, has ended.

You can learn more about this topic of life after death in this video.

Youre a tourist.

Only passing through.

You arrived with nothing and no one and youll leave with nothing and no one.

Everything you have is on loan, to be used while youre here.

The only thing thats absolutely certain in life is that you wont leave with anything

or anyone.

The feeling of loss is a call for your awakening.

We have to wake up to our internal reality.

Even if you dont believe in soul or God, you still cannot deny that youre conscious

and your experience of life in internal and metaphysical.

Thats why any step you take in this direction will bring you enormous positive gain and

wellbeing.

Changing extrinsic objectives for intrinsic objectives, prioritizing peace, emotional

health, love all of this will bring about huge gains and save you from the suffering

that naturally arises from focusing on external things

like money, things, social status, etc.

out applause in stingy amounts, and generally looking like they were born drinking pickle

juice and had been sucking lemons ever since.

The queen of the sourpuss brigade was, of course, their real-life leader, Nancy Pelosi.

The Washington Times reports that she is making headlines, just with her facial expressions:

President Donald Trump delivered what most hailed as a very strong State of the Union

speech that hit the high points, addressed the low points and soothed and smoothed over

the partisan points — and through it all, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi managed

to maintain a scowl.

Other Democrats may have their hands-sitting, but when it comes to expressing distaste with

this president, Pelosi takes the cake.

Bluntly put, the woman looked pissed.

Now it's true, others in her party managed to convey dissatisfaction during the speech.

There's this, from former White House spokesman Sean Spicer: 'The group not clapping for

historically low black and Hispanic unemployment are Democrats.

In case you were wondering.'

But nobody did dour like Pelosi.

Somebody ought to make a montage of her State of the Union face.

It's classic Democrat disgust and can no doubt be used time and again as a pictorial

expression of scorn in future news and blog reports."

However, Pelosi's sour faces weren't the end of her delightful surprises for the evening.

As we all know, Pelosi is rather advanced in years and as much as everyone in Congress

wants you to believe that they're a bunch of spring chickens, still functioning at one

hundred percent, that might not be the case.

As it turns out, Pelosi let a little bit of her age slip when she didn't know that the

camera was on her.

The Daily Wire reports that cameras and comentators alike were shocked, and a little grossed out

by what they saw Pelosi doing while the President was speaking:

"House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) put on her sour puss face for President Donald

Trump's first State of the Union address and appeared to be playing with her dentures.

Pelosi, who sat and did not clap for much of the night, was caught on camera appearing

to be adjusting something in her mouth as several media personalities quickly pointed

out that they believed she was playing with her dentures."

As disgusting as Pelosi's gross habit is, it appears to just be an absent-minded habit

that she has when she's thinking/plotting about something important.

Her entire body language shows just how frustrated she is with the entire night, and she wasn't

alone.

Everyone who watched Tuesday night's speech could tell that the Democrats were not at

all happy with with the President had to say about the State of the Union.

At a time when the President called for unity, they couldn't be bothered to stand, or show

appreciation, even when the President talked about a decrease in unemployment among the

minorities that they so loudly cater to.

The Washington Examiner reports that White House Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders spoke

on this very issue in an interview with CNN:

"White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday that House Minority Leader

Nancy Pelosi is a symbol of Democrats' bitterness toward President Trump, and said Democrats

would be better off if she smiled sometimes.

She was reacting to a question on CNN about Pelosi's dour reaction to Trump's State

of the Union address, during which she was mostly unresponsive.

'I think Nancy Pelosi looks like that all the time,' Sanders said on CNN.

'I think she should smile a lot more often, I think the country would be better for it.'

'She seems to kind of embody the bitterness that belongs in the Democrat Party right now,'

Sanders added.

Sanders also said Pelosi and Democrats have to make a 'big decision' about whether

they will continue to let their hatred of Trump get in the way of getting things done.

'They need to decide … do they love America more than they hate this president, and are

they willing to put some of those differences aside, come together and do what's right

for this country?' she asked."

Every President wants the other party to "come together".

That's what they all say because they want to be able to unify the two parties, it helps

them get more done.

But usually, it's on big diplomatic issues that both parties will never agree on.

In this case, it's on issues that are going to make the lives and pocketbooks of every

American better.

But since it's not something that they were given permission to be happy about, they kept

their seats and any chance of standing

for change.

Double Impact | First Hunt Of The Year - Duration: 44:27.

HELLO HUNTERS

It's the first day of year.

I will detect a path today.

Let me delete the GPS track of my previous hunt first.

I decided not to go to the path and try the right side first.

It's a windy day.

First target.

I have to lough about my relatively new glove.

Is this a WWII shrapnel, or "something medieval"?

I marked its position, but I'm pretty sure that it's just shrapnel.

My Deus setting: React.: "3", 28kHz, (tone-)DISC: "3", G.B.: "63"

A target next to iron.

A shotgun slug.

It's a button.

#2

That's a bullet.

The obligatory hole for my first stab.

A piece of lead.

I'm still not on the path because I feel that the targets are here.

Shrapnel.

Sounds good.

Just a bullet.

It's a silver coin.

"1 Silbergroschen" (1860).

The year starts unexpected good.

A second similar signal close by.

I have to be careful, the stones are very sharp.

One moment please, I see the target.

Looks like another silver coin.

"1 Silbergroschen" (1821).

It's January 1st (I don't know if you can see it).

Two silver chains yesterday and now this...

Dropped probably by the same guy.

I will try to track his movement further.

One moment please.

It's "just" a button :).

Is it "his" button? Hmm...

I went a little bit higher.

Shrapnel.

It's out.

Ring from a pigeon.

This bird came from France.

There were the coins.

And this has to be removed, because the pattern leads to it.

Something is there.

Just shrapnel...

Still a signal.

One moment please.

Another coin, this time "1 Kreuzer" (1880).

This one is copper (I think).

1

2

3

And 4, all from the same person?...

That's probably it.

It is important to place everything back (more or less) as it was.

Many insects have their homes there.

The signal is too small for another coin.

I dropped it.

I wish, this pinpointer was more sensitive to small targets.

A piece of "something".

Another bullet.

I'm still not on the path, moving up and down.

A casing.

Just a bullet.

Another casing.

I think, that's an iron shrapnel.

Sounds like tiny iron.

But it bothers me.

Could be a needle or something...

It's just a piece of wire.

I finally made it to the path.

In my opinion it was already hunted.

A button.

Roots and stones.

Another button.

A pull tab.

Like you would expect on a path...

A shotgun cartridge.

Some of my viewers tell me, that I don't check the stones...

I do it just for you.

See - nothing...

;)

Another pull tab.

Again...

Two (intelligent looking) people walked by...

"10 Pfennig" coin (1948-2001).

Another shotgun cartridge.

I think, I started at the right spot, now it's just...

I feel fulfilled. My mission is over.

Maybe it is better to preserve some powers for another time.

Please wait for the pictures.

The shrapnel.

"10 Pfennig" (1948-2001).

Lead.

Shotgun slug.

Ring from a pigeon.

From France.

"1 Kreuzer" coin (1880).

"1 Silbergroschen" (1860).

"1 Silbergroschen" (1821).

Trash.

And treasure - hunting time: 2h:2min

Top 5 Things That Would Happen If Humans Disappeared - Duration: 3:04.

Im pretty sure we can all agree that us humans havnt treated our world very well.

It makes you question what would happen to the planet if humans were to suddenly disappear

altogether?

Well lucky for you guys that's what were going to be talking about today.

Hey youtube im Court McGinley and welcome back to the most amazing top 5.

Before we get started I want to know- whats your favorite thing about being a human- yep

were working with those hard hitting questions today.

Let me know your answers down at the bottom.

Also I just want you to please subscribe to this channel if you havnt already and make

sure you show us some love by giving this video a big thumbs up.

Alright lests get started on our list of the top 5 things that would happen if humans disappeared.

Coming in at our number 5 spot --Blackout- Just hours after humans disappeared lights

around the world would shut down.

This is because nuclear power plants would detect a drop in usage.

Which would make the plants automatically go into safety mode and therefor stop emitting

power.

Also shortly after this- Fossil fuel plants would run out of fuel which means they would

stop working.

And finally wind turbines would eventually stop turning without maintenance.

But there are some hydroelectric plants that could continue to provide power for months

or even years without human maintenance- such as Niagara and the Hoover Dam as they rely

on the flow of water.

In at number 4--10 days- 10 days is how long pets and farm animals would last before dying

due to starvation and dehydration.

Without humans around to care for these animals Millions of household pets- farm animals and

zoo animals would starve.

For one thing they are confined- pets are trapped in houses- farm animals are in barns

and animals from the zoo are in cages- so once their food supply ran out they would

have no way to access more.

And secondly even if they were enclosed they are not used to hunting down their own food.

Also creatures who depend on human activity for survival such as Lice- cockroaches and

rats will also die out.

But while some animals will die others will thrive.

Stronger predators will hunt and kill weaker animals.

Its expected wild dogs would begin to run in packs and pick off smaller and slower animals.

Food chain hierarchy at its finest In at number 3--buildings- without humans

buildings and homes would crumble.

Within a few years- after having to make it through several winters without heat pipes

will begin to burst and homes would begin to deteriorate from the inside out.

After around 20-30 years the homes that are made mostly out of timber will begin to crumble

or rot- that is the ones that are still left standing after the mass fires caused by the

exploding nuclear plants and lightning strikes.

This will even effect huge landmarks.

Give it 300 years and then metal constructions like the Eiffel Tower and Steel Bridges will

crumble to the ground due to the lack of maintenance.

Coming in at number 2--satellites- about a year after humans disappeared the earths orbit

would have thousands of objects such as satellites plummeting down from it.

These objects sent up there by man would slowly start to fall and continue to do so for several

years.

Even some of the satellites that are the furthest away could continue to orbit for decades before

they would eventually fall back to earth.

And in at number 1 --Explosions- next thing we would worry about- would be around a month

after humans disappeared the cooling water at nuclear plants would evaporate which would

lead to a series of massive explosions.

These explosions would cause fires which would then burn for days.

We would also have to worry about the natural gas plants in general as they require electricity

to maintain dangerous substances.

Without power they would begin to vent and the gas would eventually reach the fuel tanks

of now ownerless vehicles.

Which would cause mass explosions and fires worldwide.

And there you have it that's our list of the top 5 things that would happen if humans

disappeared.

I hope you guys learned something today.

Apparently we humans are pretty valuable.

Thank you all for watching and ill catch you in the next one.

Movable wall mounted boom arm (redesign) - Duration: 11:10.

Today we're going to look at the failure of this moveable wall mounted boom arm bracket

and look at the failure reasons and come up with a new design.

Hopefully, one that works.

[Introduction]

Hi!

Harley here.

If you're new and are interested in making things out of wood, metal, electronics and

other similar types of materials, hit the subscribe button and then hit the bell notification

and YouTube will let you know next time there's something released here at the House of Hacks.

You know, sometimes you have a great idea, but the execution of it just doesn't work

quite right.

Well, that's what happened last summer.

I made a video up here about making a moveable wall-mounted bracket for this Impact 7' boom

arm that's used in a photography studio.

And the idea was we'd have a piece of metal that's mounted to the wall and this bracket

could be mounted anywhere along that metal to provide adjustability for where the long

arm boom arm is mounted.

The idea was there'd be a couple pins here that drop in to holes in the metal and there's

a cam activated lock here that keeps it from shifting around while it's being used.

There were a couple problems with this design.

First, of all, the pins that were epoxied in place in here didn't have enough depth

to them, into the wood, and so they fell out fairly easily.

The second problem is this cam lock is asymmetrical in the way that it was providing support.

The boom arm can swing to give you adjustability on your position of whatever you have mounted

to it.

And if you swung one way, this worked fine.

But if you swung it the other way, the whole mounting bracket would have a tendency to

tilt because it didn't have support on both sides.

So, in this redesign, I'm going to address both these issues.

OK.

The new game plan is to replace the pins that fell out with some bolts that will go through

the wood all the way.

The bolts are longer than this wood and so the bottom of the bolt will drop into the

holes in the perforated tubing that's going to be on the wall to hold it in place.

To hold the bolt in the wood, I've got some T-nuts that will just go in like so, so it'll

be flush on the bottom where it mounts against the wood, or against the metal and it'll just

be held in like so.

To lock it in place, I've got some toggle clamps.

These are inexpensive.

I picked them up on Amazon, a four pack for less than $9.

I was really surprised that I could get some this inexpensively.

And I'll leave a link to it down in the description in case you're interested in something like

this.

They're rated at 100 pounds each.

I'll have two, one on each side.

So that should be able to hold it in without any problem.

I'll cut a couple pieces of wood, this size, to mount on each side here to mount this to

and I'll set the spacing such that when they're open, there's enough room to drop it into

place and when it's closed, it will lock up tight against the metal on the wall.

So, let's start putting this all together.

[Project work]

OK.

After I got the bolts in and tried test fitting it in the holes, the clearances were just

such that there was a little bit more interference than I would have liked.

And so I took the bolts off and put them on the lathe and just filed off the ends of the

bolts.

(You can probably see it a little bit better with the contrast.)

So the part of the bolt that sticks out of the T-nut is filed off but the threads that

thread into the T-nut are still there.

So it will still go in just fine this way and, as this gets bottomed out and tightened

up, we can see there's just enough extra room for those to fit in there just fine.

So now I'll go put this back on the mounting bracket and figure out where the toggle clamps

go.

[Project work]

So, I mounted the clamp on the wood such that the fixed part of the clamp is fairly flush

with the end of the wood.

There's some adjustability in here so I wasn't looking for exact precision, just kind of

got in the ballpark.

And the bolts that are coming out of the T-nuts, extending beyond, is less than the total throw

of this bolt on the latch.

So, the difference between the closed position and the opened position is a certain measurement.

And that measurement is greater than the length of the bolts that are extending out the bottom

of the T-nuts.

So, in theory, I should be able to set one of these clamps in the locked position and

put it right up here against the perforated pipe and mark the block's position here on

the mounting bracket.

And when this is mounted in, when it's closed, it should be locked and when it unlocks there

should be enough movement to be able to pull the bracket up off the perforated pipes.

That's the theory.

We'll put it together and hopefully everything works out.

[Project work]

OK. I'm much more pleased with the way this works.

It's much more sturdy.

It seems much more secure.

I think it's going to work much better.

As you may have noticed, I was making some adjustments to this.

The way this works is there's a barrel that moves in and out in this bushing and in the

end of the barrel, there's a screw that has a rubber tip on it and a lock nut, so you

can adjust the length of the screw that's coming out of it with the rubber bumper on

it and then you can lock it in place with the lock nut.

And that's what I was doing with the pliers, was just kind of getting that tightened down

and adjusting that.

So now when you lock it in place, there's just a little bit of resistance before it

locks in and so it holds it pretty secure.

And I did that on both sides.

Like I said, these are rated on the web site at, I think, 99 pounds of force that they

should take.

So, both of them combined is 200 pounds and that should be plenty sufficient, I think,

even with the leverage that this will have when you put a light on it.

But we won't know until we really get it in place in the studio.

So, let's head over to the studio and see how it works in real life.

[Driving]

OK. That looks like it's going to work pretty well.

It's a whole lot more sturdy than it was before particularly when it's out on the outer edges

which is really where we had the problem last time.

Like I said last time, it would have a tendency to torque this base sideways when it was out

at the far angles and not having any problems like that now.

It's really, really good and solid.

So, I think this is going to work.

We'll now put it in practice here in the studio and let people use it and see how it works

in the real world.

Hopefully this will be the last time I have to address this issue.

Thanks for joining me on this creative journey that we're all on.

Until next time, go make something.

Perfection's not required.

Fun is!
