tonight I'm going to be using the SK式.2 in this razor was designed by Saito in
Japan in the 1950s and 60s he was a famous hairdresser and designer and this
is an extreme smiling blade that is also an extra hollow or at least a full
hollow thank you so much So Cal for sending this to me I really appreciate
you and thank you and it is my honor to shave with it as well now for our soap
tonight I'm going to be using Mitchell's Wool Fat oh yeah
fat rules baby this is it oh yeah this gives a tremendous post shave face feel
excellent I've had that soap blooming in the ceramic container and were going to
put that on as a pre-shave yep this stuff is excellent
oh yeah check that out nice nice and this has got a fantastic
mild scent really good and it's really great great so for that matter and we'll
be using my Omega 10098 excellent brush okay we're gonna get that brush
loaded up alright so how you doing hopefully you're having a good weekend
yeah having some downtime being able to enjoy yourself be with family and
friends yeah that would be good yep and being able to relax oh that is
so good it is so nice to be able to relax after the work week and be able to
just hang out and do what needs to be done which is pretty much nothing right
that is the best yep and you know hopefully you had something to do here
you know it's been snowy and crazy and stuff like that if you're connected to
me on Facebook I was one Mansfield Hollow Lake and I mean literally on it
the lake has reportedly a 12 inch layer of ice on it it was really cool so I
shot a little film on there sounds not great but I'll have to bring the mic
with me next time I didn't know we were going yeah now I have just made an
incredible mess with this soap again as usual so we're going to take most of
that off and you know I I'm just gonna put that
one like normal like a pre-shave just add to that pretty shady feel be great
if I didn't get that clear up my nose oh well it's all good no big deal all
right and So Cal was nice enough to send me
this shirt to wear with the shave as well thank you again for that I really
appreciate your brother it is so nice and thanks for you know your service to
the country as well now let's get our lather on all right now at this point I
do Shave Of The Day videos like I said on Wednesday and Sunday but on the first
and third Friday of every month I do Straight Razor Edge Friday Specials now
I honed up this razor one the last Straight Razor Edge Friday Special so
you click up here on this card and check that out it really is interesting and if
you haven't seen it I think you will be interested and if you have you could
always watch it again it is really quite a razor I'm I'm quite pleased with it
now this of course is the test shape for that hone and we'll we're going to
actually put it through its paces and find out really how good it is I have no
doubt so that it is gonna be fine
here we go now this is past one which is primarily with the grain and I have
never shaved with anything this extreme before so let's get to it
Wow okay there we go
nice look at that just blew right through it very comfortable and that's
what four days three days growth three days grow yeah
and just blew right through it definitely that smiling blade does have
quite the angle on it but excellent
very interesting
nice check at out excellent excellent yeah super
comfortable feels good
all right excellent very interesting chef
I do see why you like this blade so count excellent now that's the really
the problem there it is
you know finding that blade with that angle there's a little tougher because
it dips down right here and makes it harder to see around the hand all right
yeah nice I like it
excellent excellent so fantastic raiser I had no
idea these are nice
and that blade is nice and sharp all the way from the heel to the toe very nice
alright now let's get that washed off see how we did pass one complete oh yeah
nice okay good beer reduction yeah very good
okay now pass to
yeah like I say in the description I have found a website that has some
history on this razor and the one who designed it so you can check out that
link that would be excellent
there we go now this is past two and that's primarily across the grain on my
cheeks, against the grain on the side of my neck and right in here that will be
against the grain as well so against the grain against the grain in across the
grain on each side let's do this
yeah a smiling blade works really good here I've gotten a hollow there and that
just picks it up nicely very good alright now we're switching hands let's
get this other side
all right so far so good for our first go with this razor this is
the first time I shaved with it I'm liking this stuff yeah it's good
nice I can see why you like this razor I really can now I'm going to do a little
refresh here that's that soap I'm either taking too
long or you don't quite have the mixture
right so let's just go ahead and I'm going to go back to the puck we're gonna
get a little bit more soap and refresh
and keep in mind there are no rules so you can refresh anytime you need to and
just have a good comfortable shave that's what it's all about
it really is all right yeah

excellent excellent I do find that this could work very well I do see how it
works and I like the concept
why
yeah the angle of attack with this extreme smiling blade is a bit different
but it's still quite nice in quite effective
nice this is really good okay that's to complete now let's go
ahead and see how we get on those cheeks felt good and the verdict is brilliant
very nice you can do a little bit more right in here under that lip I think
that's the angle of that smiling blade so we will just go ahead and do a little
touch-up there not a big deal and this is the Hat pass so that is going to be
against the grain primarily on my jaw line in my neck all right so this is
going to be good and this should play to the strengths of
that smiling blade as well which will be good
all right let's do this here we go like that I guess probably a good idea all
alright

all right oh yeah these are really good get that cleaned off let's get this
other side

excellent excellent okay
there you go
that's it now the shave in the books and that is with the Saito SK式.2
extreme smiling blade oh yeah very nice very nice razor I really like it quite
good and really for the first go that was peace that was really decent it
was easy enough to find the angle of that razor and how that works so that's
good so I definitely see why you this is one of your favorite razors yeah
definitely
and that's Alum everywhere now right now for our aftershave Thayer's lemon
witch hazel and this is the new bottle yeah
the other one finally bit the dust but this is still the same excellent
Thayer's lemon which is lemonade for the face hmm
and a wonderful scent really good and like always we put that everywhere yep
that is excellent okay next up we are doing the Cologney
Osage Rub I am still on a menthol kick okay I can't help it
I like it even though it's it's middle of winter I still like it now this you
have to use a little and try not to do too much close to the eyes because
pretty soon you won't be able to see
nice oh in what a magnificent Center I really like this one
for I and that menthol is kicking in yes very nice and I didn't even show you the
menthol distracted me I'm using Nivea push a bomb you know taking care of that
face you gotta moisturize it get that face back in good shape
