Samsung heir Lee Jae-yong faces verdict in appeals trial on Monday - Duration: 1:33.
An appeals court will hand down its verdict this afternoon -- on Samsung Electronics Vice
Chairman Lee Jae-yong,... who was found guilty by a lower court of offering kickbacks to
jailed former President Park Geun-hye, and her close friend Choi Soon-sil.
Cha Sang-mi reports.
It's been almost a year since Samsung's de facto leader Lee Jae-yong was detained.
An appeals court on Monday will reveal how long he should remain behind bars.
The heir apparent of Korea's largest conglomerate was sentenced to five-years in prison in late
August of last year for giving eight-point-one million U.S. dollars to the former president
Park Geun-hye and her longtime confidante Choi Soon-sil.
The money -- offered as a form of sponsorship for Choi's then dressage rider daughter Chung
Yoo-ra -- was in return for government backing of a merger of two Samsung business units,
a process deemed vital for his leadership succession.
And a special prosecutors' team had demanded a twelve-year jail term for the 50-year-old
billionaire on the charges the same month.
Monday's hearing will reveal whether the court sees the sponsorship as a form of bribery.
Four former Samsung executives will also hear their verdicts on Monday afternoon.
Lee was indicted his alleged role in the corruption scandal last February on five charges, including
bribery, embezzlement, and hiding assets overseas.
The upcoming verdict will not only impact Lee,... but is also expected to affect the
ruling on former President Park, due next month.

Korea's joint women's ice hockey team plays first match together - Duration: 2:43.
The joint Korean women's ice hockey team had their first and only practice match before
the Olympics begins on Friday.
And while Sunday night's friendly against Sweden didn't end in victory -- it was a decent
result for a squad that's only had a few days to train together before playing one of the
world's best teams.
Lee Ji-won has more.
The joint Korean women's ice hockey team took to the rink together on Sunday for their first
game, with the Winter Olympics only a matter of days away.
The Unification flag was raised instead of South Korea's national flag, the Taegeukgi,...
and the Korean folk song Arirang filled the rink in place of a national anthem.
Playing against fifth-ranked Sweden,...
Team Korea lost the friendly three-one.
Though the head coach was only required to include three North Korean players in the
22-woman roster,... four of the twelve North Koreans who joined the squad were fielded
in the game: three forwards and one in defense.
One of Pyongyang's best players, Jong Su-hyon , even made it to the second line.
And at a press conference right after the game, Team Korea's head coach said that there
would be more chances like this, if the North Korean players continue to train hard.
"After watching the players practice, Su-hyon actually made it to the second line.
She sees the game well, she plays tough, she's fast.
If they continue to work hard, continue to learn our systems, I can see them staying
in the second line."
While North Korea's head coach Park Cheol-ho and forward Jong Su-hyon were also at the
press conference, they only mentioned their determination for the upcoming games,... and
left the table without answering any questions.
"If the South and North Koreans come together in every game and work harder and harder,
I am sure that there will be a good result.
Also, I hope the Games will be an opportunity for Korea to show its power to the world."
With North Korean players showing their determination to learn the systems, the South Korean players
and the head coach rated North Korean players' performances on Sunday highly.
But there are still struggles ahead.
"Like our coach said, the language is still the major issue.
During our games or our training, we say something but the North Korean players don't understand,...
and it's the same for us.
But it's something that'll get better with more training together."
After the game, the ice-hockey team left for the Gangneung Olympic Village where they will
live and train for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Good afternoon, Sunday was Ipchun, the beginning of spring, according to East Asian Calendars...
so we expect mother nature to be a bit generous but what we saw were the readings plunging
to mid-winter like conditions with heavy snow in Gwangju, Jeju and the easternmost islands
of Dokdo and Ullengdo.
And it will remain freezing all day today as well, Seoul will only rise to minus 6 degrees
Celsius, Daegu and Gwangju will make it to minus 1 degree.
This cold snap will be with us until Wednesday but it's more likely that we'll see temperatures
below the seasonal averages even into the Lunar New Year holiday.
As for the weather outlook in PyeongChang, cold and sunny weather conditions will be
featured for the time being.
If you remember, many of us were worried that weather conditions in Pyeongchang wouldn't
be cold or snowy enough, because we did have several relatively mild winters... but that
isn't going to be the case for the Olympics.
With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.
While wintry weather conditions are in full swing across much of the nation, most of North
Korea will have colder highs like the South.
As for the rest of Asia, Beijing will also have icy cold temperatures under sunny skies
so dress warmly.
Meanwhile, some flights in and out of Manila were canceled due to bad weather on Sunday,
so check your schedules beforehand.
Heading to North America, this year's Super Bowl in Minnesota was the coldest yet with
temperatures nearing minus 20 degrees Celsius.
As for South America, Bogota and Rio de Janeiro will be rainy along with cooler highs.
Taking you to Europe,.. the snowfall in Moscow over the weekend was the heaviest on record,
while a cold front brought wind and snow to Spain and heavy snowfall led to traffic chaos
in several provinces.
Lastly to Africa, major cities on the continent will be under mostly sunny skies.

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew and welcome to the video.
So today I'd like to talk about fact and truth.
Now what is the difference?
Because after listening to many talks by Jiddu krishnamurti, I would get these two terms
confused, mixed up, because is fact also truth?
Now this question has come to my mind many times and I feel like it's very important
to talk about the differences between the two.
Now fact, we can obviously see as a fact, is based off of our own limited perception,
our limited perspective, our incomplete view of what has happened or what is done or what
is going on now.
So basically a fact is knowledge of what is happening right now, knowledge of what has
happened or knowledge of what is finished, what is done.
So therefore, comes a question, is truth bounded by knowledge?
Is truth in the realm of the intellect?
Now facts are incomplete, they are limited, because I may accumulate facts and express
them to you, but you may not see that fact or believe it to be true.
So therefore, facts just as themselves, have no value, no meaning, but the seeing of that
fact, the seeing the truth of it, the liveliness, the vitality of that fact that is going on
right now in our own lives and seeing that, the truth of that.
The truth being that nonverbal vitality that we can't express through words through symbols
because it would just end up as mere accumulation or repetition of words and symbols, if we're
talking about it to ourselves, but if we're trying to express facts to others then others
would just accumulate it.
There's no seeing the truth of it.
So is there any relationship between fact and truth at all.
Now I feel like fact has no relationship to truth because facts or accumulating facts
or looking at facts in order to get to the truth of something doesn't seem to work right?
Because it's like we're adding sequential parts together in order to arrive at a destination
or a solution, which we may call truth, but is really an idea of truth.
And truth can't be an idea because any and every single idea is incomplete, is a fragment
of the whole, which is truth.
So therefore, fact does not have a relationship to truth.
However, truth does have a relationship to fact because as we mentioned earlier we can
see the truth of a fact that liveliness, that vitality of that fact.
So when one sees the truth of something and actually, naturally lives it because that
perception is action, is acting, then truth is acting throughout my words, throughout
my actions, throughout everything I'm doing.
So it's not just, I've achieved truth, truth will becoming this idea, this fact according
to us, that is just there, but truth is that seeing that vitality, that liveliness and
living it actually.
Not based off of an idea and not living off of an idea, not living off of a fact, but
acting according to the moment, according to the facts of what is, but how can we act
if we don't really see the truth of the fact?
If we're just trying to act, trying to act from a fact, from our idea of it?
Then it is like we are trying to do something in order to bring about a desired result.
So therefore, it's always inadequate, it's always going to bring about some sort of confusion,
some sort of problem.

career for himself if given regular football.
