CURLY HAIR
Let's learn how to make curly hair. So, we'll start by making a chain.
It can have the size you want, in our example here, I'll make 41 chains.
Don't make the chains too tight because we'll work inside them, so, if they're too tight,
it'll be tough to use the needle. Now, inside these chains here, inside each one,
we'll make three single crochets. I've made the first.
I've made the second and, in the same space, I make the third.
I'll move to the next chain here.
I make one.
Two.
Three.
In the next one again.
One.
Two.
Three. I'll keep doing this until the end of the chains, until I finish all of them,
always putting three single crochets inside each one of them.
The ringlet will look like this. Now, we'll pick these two tips up,
let's pass them through a needle and hide it back here.
Here is the needle, we've passed it
and let's pass it behind the stitches, through some stitches, just to hide it.
Done, now just need to cut.
For us to straighten this ringlet here that is a little bent,
we'll just need to do like this.
Let's coil it,
like it was a spring.
After we've made this package, we hold it tight for a while and, when you release it,
the ringlet is done. We'll make another ringlet like this.
The ringlets are done and here I've a head as example, we'll make the ringlets
on this head here. I'll put one on each side, I'll fold it in half,
like this, and I'll secure one on each side of the head.
Like this. So, first, we'll locate on the head where we want the ringlet to be.
I'll put it around here,
and then the other one on the other side in the same way. So, I find the middle again
and secure it here
with the needle.
Now, I'll need to sew here with some stitches. I've passed a black thread
through a darning needle and I'll start to secure the ringlet down here.
Sew it carefully when you're using the black thread because the filling will go out
and it'll get stuck in it, look, it'll go out and we've to keep cleaning it all the time.
So, I'll make some stitches here.
I turn it over and make some stitches on this side here.
So, now just need to tie it up and clean these filling's lint that keep showing up here.
I've tied it up.
I put the thread at any point,
now, just need to cut it.
And the ringlet will look like this. Now, we'll pin the other on this side here.
The hair is done. If you want, you can put some laces here.
Or crochet laces, or flowers, as you wish.
We did the curly hair here using single crochets, but we can use double crochets as well.
They'll look like this.
HAIR WITH BALLS
In this class, I'll show how to use a ball to make hair.
So, I've here a ball, a sphere,
and a head. This sphere can be any size you want, you can put just one, for example,
like it was a ballerina bun, you can use two here on the sides,
as you wish. It can be bigger or smaller, as you wish. So, I'll show you how you can pin
this ball here to be the hair.
The first thing we've to do is decide where we want to ball to be.
Here, it has to be in the center, right, between the eyes.
So, I'll pin it, I'll the pins, you could use needles, if you prefer.
And I'll leave this ball here very firm on the head so I can sew easily.
Done. It's very firm here, look.
Now, we'll sew this one here. I've passed, then, the rest of the thread through a needle.
And I'll make some stitches here, to hold the ball on the head,
so, I've choose one of the up stitches,
then I'll choose a stitch below the head. Make straight stitches,
by choosing a stitch above and one below, without skipping any stitch,
don't cross the thread because it'll form holes here.
So, we'll make stitches like this, look, it's very straight.
I'll keep going on a line, a stitches' row, so it'll get pretty uniform.
Keep going on a line up here and down here. So, the row that I've chosen was this one,
and the one above was this one, I'll keep going until the end.
So, one more stitch. I can make the first stitches looser,
I can make three of four stitches then pull the thread.
So here.
Now, I pull the thread forcefully, so they disappear.
They've disappeared, and the thread got pretty straight here.
So, let's keep sewing.
I've made some more loose stitches.
I pull the thread again.
Check out how the thread gets pretty uniform.
So, we'll keep making this seam until the end.
We've reached the end of the seam, let's tie it up.
So, I choose a stitch.
I choose another one, I make a handle here with the thread. I pass the needle through it
and I pull it.
We can make this twice.
I pull it and put the thread at any point here.
And just cut it.
And done, it's done the doll's bun. Here, we can put a lace or a flower here, as you wish.
TIED HAIR
To make a tied hair, we'll need free stitches' handles because we'll need a base
to tie the threads. We'll make these free handles by working on the handles
behind the stitches of this row. So, these stitches were made on the back handles
of these stiches. So, the frontal handles are free now. It's above these handles
that we'll tie our hair. After this, we'll measure the size of the thread that we want.
It'll leave from here, in this case, I'll tie the hair up here, so I'll get this measure here
until the center, plus what I want it to remain and I'll fold it, and I'll cut the thread
for each one of these free handles here.
So, in this example, we've 36 stitches here, that is, 36 free handles,
so, we'll cut 36 threads. So, our measurement of the threads will be
from the tip here until the center, because we'll tie it, leave a leftover like this
to form the pony tail, I'll fold this in half.
And I'll cut it.
This is the measurement that I want, I'll need 36 threads like this one.
And here are the 36 threads, we'll start to tie them on the head.
I've tied already most of the hair to advance our work, but I'll show now how to tie up
the ones that are missing. So, we'll pick our thread up,
fold it in half, turn the head over and insert the needle here.
Then, we'll get this handle of the folded thread here,
let's pull it into the free handle.
The handle is here.
Now, we'll pick these two tips up and we'll pass them through the handle. Like this.
Now, just pull it.
We'll make one more.
Here is the thread. I'll fold it in half.
And it formed a handle here.
So, I'll insert the needle inside the free handle of the hair,
I'll pick this handle that formed here on the hair and I'll pass it through the free handle.
Now. I'll open the handle and I'll pass the hair through it.
Now, just pull.
And there's one left.
Here is the hair.
I'll fold it,
I pass the needle through the free handle,
I pull the hair's handle, open it and pass the hair through it. And pull it.
Done. The hairs are all tied and pulled to the top, look, because I want to make
a pony tail up here, a short pony tail. So, I'll pass a thread here
and I'll tie it.
I've cut the hair short here, but you could cut it longer if you prefer.
Now, I'll just trim the hair tips.
And the hair is done.
Now, up here, we can put something, a flower or, for example, a lace.
This one here is a satin ribbon, but it could be a crochet's lace or just leave it like this.
And it's ready the hair.
This type of hair tying that we've done here is also used to make horsehair,
or unicorn's mane or another toys' hair.
We've here an example of tied hair.
The threads are longer because it was made a tress here, but the way we've tied the thread
up here is exactly the same. Another example that this tying up was used was to make this hat,
this is a doll's hat, which is an owl, so the owl's hair here were made in the same way,
but with more threads.
And here we've the example of a mini owl, in which its hair was tied up like this.
Here are the three examples of hairs that we've made.
These are just a few examples, there are many other ways to make hairs.
And you can explore other ways and create your own models.
I'll show some projects' examples with different types of hairs.
In this doll, the hair is curled. In this one, it was made a bun.
In this one, balls were used.
And in this one, the hair was ied up and a tress was made.
