OMG...
Do you know what you hear in a Mercedes
when you close the win... [S]: Stas's stomach roar.
Uh, well, they say you hear nothing. But I'm gonna listen carefully now.
Hey, everyone. We're having an unusual review today.
We're reviewing a car worth ₽14.5 million.
But the base price is a lot lower, for sure.
Btw, we have a unique opportunity, as usual - Stas follows me around whenever I come to Klyuch-Avto
I came to replace my braking shoes. They say Mercedeses break down a lot, you know.
So, half a year in, I had to replace the rear bearing shoes.
[S]: Let's say, your Mercedes has a craving and you forgive that craving to it.
Too bad it's not a warranty case.
Stas can clear up some questions for us.
'cuz when car reviewers shoot their reviews, they tend to get info from Wikipedia or forums,
and we have here the most - well, to my mind, not to offend anyone -
the most advanced Mercedes-Benz consultant in Rostov-on-Don, and maybe in the whiole world.
[S]: Ah, you're making me blush!
Alright, I'm not gonna film you then.
[S]: The first special feature of this restyled, this after-facelift car
[S]: is that it now has Multi-beam.
[S]: The difference between it and ELS is, external, and inside, you know it from your car,
[S]: there's one lense. Well, basically, the same technology that is used in E213.
[S]: Except here it has an extended function. It's called Ultra Range.
[S]: Meaning with no other sources of light, the car turns on ultralong-rage light, 650 m (710 yds)
[S]: The light beam concentrates and shines as far as it can.
Okay, now, let me clear it out. So this one has better lights than mine?
[S]: It's a Maybach.
So what?
[S]: Well, it's ₽14.6 mil.
Wait, when I was buying my E-class, it was the most cutting-edge technolgy fit one.
Do you remember that talk we had?
Alright, I know it's a post-restyling one. The index is 222 again, right?
[S]: 222 FL (for Face Lift).
Alright, so, it's restyled. Well, now you can easily tell the S-class by three lines over here.
So, it's C-class - one line, E-class - two lines, S-class - three lines, but close and on the top, too.
[S]: Right. Well, in Mercedes, they call these torches. So it's three like torches.
Good thing they don't call 'em that in Russia. People would think they drive you high as a kite.
[S]: For Maybach, there are several otion in terms of Meybach discs.
[S]: Here is one. Note that these are cast.
These are cast? [S]: Yes, they're cast,
[S]: and they chose this unusual pattern on purpose. I think this is quite a fresh design.
Well, you can't see any bolts. And the radiance here is... Dunno if you can see it on the camera,
but this is some kind of magic, look at it!
Really deep. [S]: And it's not paint. They polish it till that condition.
[S]: Interior changes tat came with the restyling.
[S]: The first thing it the wheel. And, please, note this -
[S]: in your E-class review, you said that you, personally,
[S]: were not satisfied with this cruise control lever here.
[S]: Mercedes has listened to you, and they moved cruise control onto the wheel.
[S]: Now it's all visual, evident and intuitive.
You know why they listened to me? Not everyone paid attention to it,
but the E-class review is the first video on the LOUD SOUND channel
that has not only English subtitles, but also German.
'Cuz usually we make English subtitles for all our videos,
but for E-class I got German, too, for them to see it all.
Okay, what we see here, are no seats.
This is not a seat. It's a couch. Looks incredibly rich, expensive, cool, etc.
[S]: This interior is called Designo - the pronunciation is still argued over.
[S]: The key point is, this is THE most expensive - well, one of the most expensive solutions out there.
Whoa. I think I'm gonna sit in it once again.
Getting into an S-class is... I don't even know how to explain the experience.
Nothing stands in my way, absolutely. Not the lateral support, nothing.
The first thing we're gonna ask Stas, since we're in a Mercedes-Benz salon, is, of course,
we'll ask him to tell about the audio here.
[S]: The restyled Mercedes has top-notch music.
[S]: Burmester Hi-End 3D was improved. They basically added two more speakers to the top.
The audio hasn't been drastically changed. Probabl there's no way to go higher.
Well, you all know my thoughts about stock audios. I'm not gonna comment on that.
I'll only say that it looks amazing.
And the Burmister has this amazing 3D sounding.
No matter how off the stage is localized and stuff, the sound comes from everywhere, and it's great.
[S]: As for the sound - right - there are two new speakers in the rear part
[S]: We'll check them out later. They are a bit behind the rear pillar there.
[S]: It's in the ceiling.
[S]: We had one speaker in the middle, and now there are two more on its sides.
Okay, we'll see.
[S]: It is precisely to emphasize this 3D effect.
When speaking about the wheel, Stas forgot to mention that it's a beauty.
I'm not gonna admire a lot. I mean, whatever you lay your eyes on, you wanna admire.
[S]: Note that this one now also has sensor controllers, like your E-class does.
Like my E, right. [S]: The 2014 didn't have them.
[S]: Check out the sound you hear.
So it's...
So it makes a sound, and it clicks the way you feel it.
[S]: Swipe your finger to the right.
[S]: Same thing. So now you have a way to quickly switch what you see, say, in your right field.
It's really convenient So now you can set the design...
[S]: Right. You can control what you want to see in the right part of your screen is here.
[S]: And you don't need to go to any menus.
As for the menu in general - would you show the central screen, please?
[S]: The menu's chaned quite a bit. Now it looks like this.
The graphics is a lot more lively, that's true.
[S]: Now there's lighting. More colors, to be precise.
[S]: There are now color switching modes. So now we can engage multi-color schemes.
[S]: I'll try to demonstrate it now.
So, different lighting for different zones? [S]: Yes, exactly.
[S]: If you're setting your climate temp, the side you're doingit at changes the lighting color.
Note the dash panel.
The sectioning that was present in the 222 and 217 is there no more.
[S]: Now you can choose color combinations.
[S]: So, not just one static color, but, say, blue and purple.
[S]: They all have their names.
And you can see it really well. The lighting here is, well the daylight's really good inside the salon,
There are these lamps right above our heads, so it's really bright in here.
And yet the lighting is bright enough for you to see.
You can particularly see it on white shoes.
And really bright here. [S]: M-hm.
[S]: Note that the light is blue here, but if you tae a look at your feet, it's purple.
So, you combined them, right?
[S]: Yep. Well, this is the second combination. We've picked it. there are...
So, you can get sucked up in it even harder
It's just when I first bought my E-class, I almost hit a bunch of cars.
I almost rear-ended the car in front of me like 10 times. Good thing the car knows best and brakes.
Btw, did you see how viral that video went?
Oh, you sent it to me, too. [S]: Yeah, I resent it to you myself.
Well, guys, if you're sending me video, please don't 'cuz I almost hit a truck.
Every resource posted that video. Smotra, Carcrash, Carnews and all that stuff.
I think everyone posted that video on Instagram.
And I got it via Whatt'sApp later. And this one brakes on its own, too.
I'm not even gonna ask if it does. We'll get there.
Let's cover the lighting now.
[S]: The Welcome coloring. It shows you how the car's gonna greet you.
[S]: It all lights up starting with the driver's dash. - Wow...
[S]: Climate... This is what I was talking about. Get the right side in your frame now.
[S]: I'm turning up the temperature.
[S]: Well, it's not that well-seen now... - I can see it. I can.
[S]: Say, I'm turning it down. The color is progressing towards the blue.
[S]: Once I stop doing that, the color goes back to the way it was.
[S]: Now, the central area. This part was, well, let's say, modernized.
[S]: Now there's this reflective gloss which many may not like,
[S]: But it's no everywhere. It's only around the control zone over here.
[S]: The modes are standard here. The parking robot is the same generation as the one you and I tested.
[S]: So it does al the same things.
[S]: The rest buttons are all in their places.
[S]: Pretty clear here. It's the pneumatics, driving mode control,
[S]: the ECO functions and menu quick access.
[S]: One of the main advantages of the new facelift S-class is the wireless phone charger.
[S]: In the front part, in this compartment there will now always be a wireless charger.
[S]: There'll also be a nice cover here.
[S]: The USB and SD-card slots are in their traditional spots.
[S]: This NFC zone is here for quick device synching
[S]: Meaning you put your phone's NFC chip against this spot,
[S]: and all your profile settings and protocoles instantly sync up with the system.
The key. Stas has been showing it to me. Now they are making new type keys.
I don't know which is better. I saw a Lamborghini key (read - Audi).
I've seen a GTR key (read - Nissan X-Trail's).
I've seen BMW's plastic keys.
This is BMW's is a new key, yes. But it's more like a cellphone now.
Noone's using it.
This Mercedes key is, to my mind, the most petite, the most pleasant to touch.
It's realy wholesome, heave, and the bitch scratches.
Let's be honest, it's black gloss.
However, when my key turned 1 year old, I had it polished and it looked like new.
Mercedes is now switching all the keys to this type, right?
[S]: Yes, gradually, all Mercedes class cars are going to be equipped with these keys.
[S]: You'll get a chance to choose the key's outlook.
[S]: It may be black with matte contour, or with glossy chrome contour.
[S]: It may be white.
You know what it's lacking? I mean, I can't help trolling, really.
A flashlight!
[S]: Turn on seat ventilation.
[OC]: Seat ventilation is on.
No way. Really? Finally!
Finally! I've trolled Mercedes for that a lot. Now it speaks Russian.
I'm more of a strict style appreciator, and I've never had a thing for this lighting and stuff.
There are still people who perceive lighting in the wrong way.
Some say, 'Hey, they stuck a LED strip, like in a Lada.'
Well, this is a completely different leve of interior visualization,
and you need to take a ride in one to comprehend the idea.
It's really difficult.
[S]: Brands that don't do this are currently falling behind those who do do this.
[S]: So, this is a market trend now.
[S]: This is something that should be there in a modern car, in a luxury car in particular.
[S]: This enables to visualize some operational modes
[S]: like the ventilation system, the climate control, etc..
[S]: And it helps set a certain mood.
[S]: This can be a discussion topic, too, 'cuz ever since facelifting,
[S]: the S-class Mercedes-Benz cars have gotten the energizer mode.
[S]: The idea is, by pressing one button, you completely change the mood in the car.
[S]: Meaning it changes the ventilation, climate, lighting settings. Even the audio changes.
[S]: Creates the mood.
[S]: Your favorite roof. Magic Sky.
Oh, yeah! This tanning is legit, guys!
I mean, it is legitimate. Here's a cheeky shot of Stas.
Okay, Stas, I'm holding my breath. And we see the sky.
[S]: Tanning off. Let's now tan back on. - This is crazy!
How does this work? Honestly, I don't know. There are crystals, and electricity goes on and off.
It would be really interesting to take a glass like this apart.
ButI'm afraid it would cost a fortune.
I suggest we move over to the, well, spacecraft compartment
which is the key reason people buy these cars in the first place.
We have a regular S-class on this side, and we can compare Maybach with S-class Long.
[S]: For the Russian market, we only offer long Mercedes S-class models.
[S]: We don't have any of the shorties in here.
[S]: So, this is the long version - and, basically, the only one you can get.
And here is Maybach. The key difference is that it is 20 cm longer than the long S-class.
[S]: And another one is this section in this part of the door. Let's see it on the regular S.
[S]: In here, this corner is on your door.
[S]: So when you open your door, the whole doorway is open.
[S]: But when you open a Maybach, part of the glass is left the the rear pillar.
[S]: Even if the door is open all the way.
Here's your difference. It's just some say there's only the finishing and the brand plate.
The cars, however, have different bases - different lengths,
and doorways made in two completely different ways.
[S]: This was made not only to increase the space,
[S]: but to keep the identity of the passenger inside secret even with the door open all the way.
[S]: You can take a seat in there, or I acn, and you'll understand you can't see the face.
It's clear already. Here, when looking from the side, we can see the seatback.
And here, [***] can sit in it, and you'll never know they're riding a car like this.
[S]: Quite relevant for the market.
[S]: This is what it looks like. I put my phone on the wireless charger,
[S]: This, btw, is also a novelty to post-restyle Mercedes Benz, Mercedez Meybach in this case.
[S]: There's a default wireless charger in the front compartment,
[S]: and an option for your choice for the rear seat passenger.
[S]: Naturaly, we have first-class seats here.
[S]: Meaning I can set my right-side rear seat completely to a long-travel position.
[S]: My seat it moving backwards now.
And you have this thing coming out for your legs, right?
Sorry to interrupt you, Stas, but looks like you're too small for a Maybach yet.
You're too short.
[S]: Yes, but I can fix it like this. - Ohm you have a button there.
[S]: Like this.
Someone might even fit in the front now.
Someone really hunchback. Or reeeally sad.
What kind of unheathy stuff do we have here now?
A bar, a mini-bar, a fridge?
[S]: There's a fridge that looks like this.
So this is how you see guests.
[S]: Yes. - I'd have put a couple of bottles in there.
[S]: You know, I back you up on that 100%. - It could be a serious deal closer.
I mean I would be, like, I'm spending money,, and then I could use a drink.
So I buy this car, and there's champagne in it already.
Don't need to go to a shop.
[S]: A DVD-Rom. Here...
First class. [S]: Right. In this case there are two tables.
[S]: This is how you unfold them.
[S]: Same way for the other passenger.
All is lacking is a flight|drive attendant.
[S]: Now, this is important. The restyled version has new slots here.
[S]: Here's a HDMI slot, so you can seriously plug in, say, a game console.
Or even a mobile device via an adapter,
And then we can mirror link it over here, right?
[S]: Exactly. This HDMI is fully functional.
[S]: Yes, you can also plug in via two USB slots,
[S]: And, please, note, the thing you and I are using as we speak,
[S]: there are separate USB slots for charging.
Now let me take a sit. Reaching the front seat is quite the challenge if you're my height.
My legs are stretched out almost all the way.
Check out how nice my Adidas stripes light up.
Climate control. Quite trollable. You need to reach for it.
Why didn't they do it right here, at hand?
If you have a belly, Stas, you do realize that you'd have to ask the driver.
Now Stas was supposed, like a cowboy from a gun case, to get
one cool thing and say, 'No, Alex, you're wrong. Even with a belly everything is possible.'
But he got out and went to the trunk because that thing was in the trunk.
But he just replied so awesomely now - double-awesomely.
I'm gonna show you why. Let's turn on the light.
He first showed me this thing.
It's a remote control that controls everything, from the back seat.
And I was, like 'So what, can I control climate now?' He said, 'No, Alex. You can control everything.'
If you have bad eyesight, and you can't see what happens on that screen,
you can use these to control climate or, well, everything else, right?
[S]: Navigation, for example.
[S]: Radio, some drives if you have any hooked up.
[S]: Switch to Mercedes Benz Apps, and here come the settings - what we're interested now.
[S]: Here are complete seat settings, those for ventilation, AC, lighting,
[S]: heating of any surface - in the S-classes, any armrest you can find can be heated.
[S]: So I enter the temp settings ad turn it down. The light goes blue.
Well, it was blue. Turn it up to get it to red.
[S]: Here it goes red. I stopped doing anything. It's turning back.
Well, if you don't have a huge belly, you can control it all from here.
Here we turn it up.
And the light goes red.
Stas just can't have anought of it.
He wants to surprise me with some more.
He wants to show me headphones. Sure. I've never seen headphones, have I?
[S]: Stock headphones, wireless.
[S]: And they are produced by, of course - here is the logo - by Mercedes.
[S]: But if we take a look here, we can see that they are produced by AKG.
[S]: A well-known brand that has recently been purchased by Samsung.
[S]: You might have all heard that their stock speakers are incredibly awesome.
[S]: And they're probably some of the best stock headphones.
[S]: These are pretty much the same. They play really nicely.
Do you understand what Stas is talking about?
Well, this car does absolutely everything.
It accelerates, it brakes, it speaks in human voice to you.
And what Stas is saying is that it has headphones.
Well, it was a killer shot. I mean, I don't know what this car lacks. Stas?
Here's some advice. Put soe champagne in the fridge.
Let's go on. What do we have here? Well, Stas has shown us the wireless charger.
A 12 V lighter slot for both passengers
[S]: I'm gonna open this central part. Pay attention to what happens to this section.
[S]: It comes off a bit to let me slide the long section in.
[S]: This cupholder maintains temperature.
[S]: You can put your drink here, and heat it up or cool it down.
Stas, tan us blind.
And, of course, we can close the roof and submerge in complete darkness.
And turn the lights off.
And now we have a surreal atmosphere here.
Like someone said about my computer,
you can even keep the monitor unplugged. Just use some drugs and watch the water cooling system.
Same here. You don't need to go anywhere. You get in it and enjoy just sitting there.
Btw, I often get accused of, you know, if I drop by, means I'm promoting you.
Promotion is Stas's job.
I am a completely impartial person. Did you at least finish doing my braking shoes?
Both passengers have absolutely the same options.
It's not like this cushion comes out only for the right passenger.
Well, sure, we can't fold the front left seat.
Apart from that, the left passenger has all the same things.
And all the control organs for curtains, lids, side glasses
are there for both passengers in equal proportion.
So I can open the roof, I can tan it and untan it.
And here are the side curtains, a.k.a. glass controllers.
So, first come down the curtains, and then - the glasses.
The glass here is also a duplex, for better noise cancellation.
The rear seat's back is placed really cool.
It's located in a special compartment also finished off with wood.
And there's also light in there.
And the main thing, I think, we need to show, Stas.
The very reason people are going to buy this car for - the trunk.
Stas says, there's one more interesting thing, before we open the trunk.
As weird as it sounds, those are rear parking lights.
[S]: Here is how the car greets the owner once they open it. Let's take a look.
Huh?
Come on!
This technology here is called Stardust.
The source of the light is up here, and it shines down on the glass crubnles below.
At, well, I'd say, at a foot press, but it's no pressing.
You need to make this weird move, and the trunk opens and closes.
Well, it's no surprise nowadays. But on a huge vessel like this,
it goes up and down with the speed you probably wouldn't be able to set it at.
We also have... I think it's a button, right?
[S]: Yes. - We can use the button to open and to close.
We can lock the keys in, and it won't lock down. Are you sure, though, Stas?
[S]: Of course.
Oh, you're so sure that you left both keys in? [S]: Absolutely.
It's gonna be... Wait, did it just go back open?
[S]: It won't close as long as there's a key inside.
Okay, there's a subwoofer here.
Here is the fridge that takes out about 10% of the whole trunk space.
And the trunk is no bigger, even smaller than the one in E.
Well, basically, there should be two security cars following you,
so you can load your stuff there.
And to facilitate your understanding of what review you've just watched,
I'm going to ask Stas to explain what's different between a regular Mercedes S-class
and Maybach, and what is Mercedes's prospect on the brand Maybach now?
[S]: In one of your reviews, we touched upon this topic. There are currently 3 key sub-brands.
[S]: The well-know Mercedes-Benz, our beloved Mercedes AMG and Mercedes Maybach.
[S]: This is a luxury car. A lot of things were first introduced through this S-class.
[S]: Maybachs are designed as exclusive as it gets.
[S]: It's difficult to find a car that would be more luxurious than this one.
I hope you liked this review. I just came by to have my shoes replaced.
and, well, this review happened. People often accuse me of promoting Mercedes.
Well, this is a place that's nice to visit and cars that are nice to drive.
And there is a whole lot of other amazing cars here, too.
Write in your comments what other cars you'd like to see reviewed.
For example, Stas's been promicing CLS soon. Maybe even a Gelandewagen.
