One rebel group, Sinn Fein, was founded in 1905 by Arthur Griffith.
They wanted Ireland to be free from British rule, but one Irish province, Ulster, consisted of mostly Protestants...
..who wanted Ireland to be governed by Parliament.
The rest of Ireland was mostly Catholic.
Ulster and the rest of Ireland began fighting each other on the Monday after Easter in 1916.
This time is now called the Easter Uprising.
The British authorities fought against both sides in this battle, and thousands of Irish people were killed.
Sinn Fein began fighting fiercely against the British.
When World War I ended around 1918, southern Ireland and Britain signed a treaty...
..and the Irish Free State was founded.
But Ulster was still owned by Britain.
Now, let's learn what happened in Italy in the meantime.
The prime minister, Vittorio Orlando, came to the meeting in Versailles to sign the treaty ending the war.
But he failed to be allowed to have a say in the meeting.
When they changed the territories of the world, Woodrow Wilson made the land near the Adriatic Sea...
..a new, independent kingdom called Yugoslavia, so Italy couldn't claim it.
Vittorio Orlando resigned as Prime minister, and Italy would become very poor and unstable...
..with poverty and violence.
Politician Benito Mussolini published a document in 1922...
..saying that Italy should have a strong government, led by a group of trusted people.
Since the Italians had no strong leader to keep their country in good shape...
..they agreed with Mussolini.
The belief that a country should be a republic is called Fascism, after the ancient Roman fasces symbol.
Victor Emmanuel III, the king of Italy, didn't want to be responsible for a civil war.
So, he agreed to let the Fascist army take over.
Italy was now a republic.
Here's what took place in Egypt.
Britain had owned Egypt through 1919, when the Egyptian Arabs led by Abbas II...
..had risen against the British authorities.
In 1922, these Arabs were free from Britain again, and the Suez Canal belonged to Egypt.
Now, what happened in Russia around this time?
Well, after the Romanovs were killed, those loyal to them formed a new army called the White Army.
The Bolsheviks established the Red Army, and fought against the White Army.
The Red Army won, and Vladimir Lenin would continue to lead this Russian government...
..until he got a stroke, and Russia was ruled by a man named Joseph Stalin.
Joseph Stalin ruled with an iron fist, forcing nearby countries to join the new USSR...
..or United Soviet Socialist Republics.
This was also called the Soviet Union.
But Stalin executed millions of people who disagreed with him.
He also worked the common people very hard.

Letting Self Love In | Guided Hypnotic Meditation - Duration: 40:25.
Choose a relaxing position either seated or lying down.
Pick a spot in front of you, a spot where you can comfortably focus your gaze.
Now take a full, deep breath.
Inhale, and Exhale.
Allow the breath to relax you.
Take one more deep breath, inhale and exhale as you relax even deeper.
Take another smooth, deep inhale and as you exhale allow your eyes to close.
Let your breath become natural and comfortable.
Allow yourself to relax, relax your body.
Notice any tension you are feeling in your body.
Simply scan your body and become aware any tension that's present anywhere in your body.
In a moment we will breathe into the tense areas of your body and relax it to clear it.
Allow your inhale to relax these areas.
Then allow the exhale to release and send the tension away.
On your next inhale focus on the tense areas, now hold that breath and exhale slowly.
Wonderful, take another full breath into any tense areas of your body and hold that breath
and exhale the tension away.
Feel your body relaxing; let your body to relax.
Take one more, smooth, deep, full breath into all of the last tense areas of your body,
hold that breath and exhale slowly.
That's perfect.
Notice how with every breath you exhale you grow more and more deeply relaxed.
Visualise and feel the flow of the relaxation moving from the top of your head, flowing
down over your entire head, like a shower of calm tranquillity.
Allow the relaxation to flow down your chest and arms, down to your elbows and hands, all
the way down to the very tips of your fingers.
Noticing and enjoying how the relaxation continues to flow down to your stomach and down your
back.
Down further and further, deeper and deeper.
That Comfortable and soothing feeling of relaxation flows to your hips and thighs, it flows down
to your knees and calves.
It flows down all the way to your feet
and toes.
Continuing to feel relaxed and watching, feeing this relaxation washing over and into you
with every breath you continue to take.
You're doing wonderful.
Now imagine yourself out in nature, somewhere that brings you peace, where you feel safe
and calm.
This can be an imagined or a real place, anywhere that you would feel outmost relaxed.
Take a moment to immerse yourself there, seeing the sights, smelling the sent, feeling the
sensations of this relaxing place.
Now in your serene place take a look up into the sky, the clear, big, blue sky.
As you look up you may start to feel a sense of openness and feeling limitless spreading
through you.
As you continue looking up into the sky, there may be some clouds lazily floating by.
Each cloud represents thoughts, beliefs or even left over tension within your body or
mind.
Any thought or tension within your body is a cloud of certain shape and size.
So what are these clouds like?
Are they light or heavier, dense or wispy?
Warm or cool?
In a moment we'll release these thoughts or tension, all you have to do is simply focus
and relax the part of your body or a thought and ask the cloud to move away.
I will count from 10 down to 1 and with each number you will relax even more and the clouds
will move away.
By the time I reach 1, you will make all the clouds disappear.
Just intend for it to happen and watch it happen.
Let's begin.
10 Begin to feel a gentle breeze 9 Allow the breeze to help you move the clouds
away 8 Watching the clouds beginning to drift away
7 The clouds are drifting farther and farther away
6 Feel the gentle breeze slightly increasing as the clouds drift farther and farther
5 As the clouds continue to disappear, you are feeling lighter and lighter

Resting here with the sense of lightness and clarity.
Relaxing deeper and deeper.
Bringing your attention to the place in nature where you feel of calm and content.

Now visualise that in your relaxing place there is a beautiful lake.
A lake of such purity that merely seeing it allows you to feel refreshed and cleansed.
There is nothing but crystal clear water in the lake.
You feel safe and supported.
See yourself walking over to the lake and then immersing yourself in the crystal clear
waters.
Notice how comfortable and soothing the water feels.
Visualise and feel yourself being purified, cleansed
and renewed.
Enjoying the variety subtle or very noticeable changes happening within.
These changes come from you, activated by the lake.
The lake is a manifestation of the love that comes from your vast consciousness, love that
you have for yourself.
Look down into your own reflection, feel love being radiated to you.
And allow yourself to radiate love back into your reflection.
Noticing and feeling a loop, an exchange.
A loop of love.
You radiate love to yourself as you gaze into your reflection and you receive pure, honest
and deep love back into you from the reflection in the calm water.
Allowing yourself to feel the energy, feeling of self-love.
You are safe; it's just you and you.
All is well.
Continue gazing into your reflection, radiating love and say it in your mind or out loud - I
Love You and I Always Will.
Repeat this 3 times.
Allow yourself to repeat this each and every time you see your reflection.
Each and every time saying with love and feeling the statement - I Love You and I Always Will.
You are relaxed and calm.
Love is being reflected to you.
You are creating a bond, an on-going loop of energy of self-love.
Your special place radiates and envelops you in love and positivity.
Any time you need to strengthen the bond of self-love, you can return here, to your place
of relaxation.
This place will help you to enter a deeper level of the meditation each time you come
to visit.
Each time you come to your place of peace and serenity, you will be more relaxed, calm
and grounded.
Any time you desire to return to your place of calm, simply focus on relaxing your hands,
take a deep breath, exhale and think - 'I relax.
I love' You will soon feel waves of relaxation, serenity, love, and peace wash over you as
you return back to your special place, that you created for yourself.

Wrap Up & Haul & Knitting - Duration: 11:46.
Hello everyone! I have finally found a day where I can film a video and since
it is in the last day of April right now I figured I might as well go ahead and
do a monthly wrap-up. So getting right into the books the first one that I
finished was City of Heavenly Fire the sixth and last book in the Mortal
Instruments series. I first read the first five books in this series a few
years ago, I think right when the fifth book came out or maybe right before
the sixth book came out and I just never got around to reading the sixth one, so I
decided to finally get it over with so that I could mark this series as
complete, and this series is just so bonkers and I had pretty much completely
forgotten the plots of the fourth and fifth books but caught myself back up
and I definitely enjoyed the sixth book, but overall the series is not one of my
favorites, though it's a fun time. I rated this one four stars on Goodreads but
it's probably more like 3.5 and I don't really have plans to read the other
series in this world that Cassandra Clare has created. Maybe in another
lifetime where I had more time and less books to read, I would. The next book that
I read was the first short book of April and that was Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean
Rhys and of course this one is the imagining of Bertha Mason's life, the
"mad woman in the attic" from Jane Eyre, so this gives her a more humanizing
backstory than just a "crazy lady" and it was really interesting, and I can't say I
really enjoyed the writing style because it was pretty rough and almost
incomplete and at times it was hard to know who was speaking or what exactly
was happening but I really enjoyed the ending because it connects to that very
climatic moment in Jane Eyre where Bertha
burns it all to the ground. Overall this book might be worth four or
five stars but the reading experience and enjoyment level is more like a three
star for me, it's not until it ends that you really see the cycle and the themes
of this book that connect it to Jane Eyre and also give it worth on its own as a
standalone book. The next book I read was another eBook after finishing City of
Heavenly Fire, and this one was Shadowshaper, and this one went so much more
quickly than the Mortal Instruments book, I finished it in like a few days and it
was really fun and you know, not overall the best or most intricately plotted
thing but it was really fun and I just really liked the concept, and I ended up
rating it four stars. Next I finished another short book from my shelves and
that one was Ayat Jamilah: Beautiful Signs, this one is similar to the book of
Buddhist wisdom, that has just lots of little short stories with illustrations
and this one I think had a little bit more of a sharp humor to some of the
stories so I really appreciated that and of course just really liked getting to
know more about Islam and the wide variations there are from people all
over the world who practice it. I rated this one for stars. And the next book I
finished was another short book from my own shelves and that is The Sense of an
Ending by Julian Barnes. This one won the Man Booker Prize in I think 2011 or
2012 and I didn't actually realize it had been written that recently, I thought
it was a bit older like maybe from the 90s or something, but I don't quite know
what to say about this book because for the first section it's just kind of
this average white guy telling you about his life and it doesn't really have that
much benefit to reading it just for that part, but then in the second part of the
book it all just falls apart and you never really figure out quite what
happens, and at the end I even totally misinterpreted what the ending meant and
when I was reading theories online of what happened in this book, none of them
came close to what I thought happened because I just misread it altogether but
the writing is very beautiful and it's very well written but overall I wouldn't
consider this one a favorite. And I didn't even give it a rating on
Goodreads and I'm still not sure where this sits with me, maybe somewhere in the
3.5 range? The next book I finished was a library book and that is Girl Waits With
Gun. This is by Amy Stewart and it's the first book in a series based on the real
life of one of the first female deputy sheriffs in the United States and it is
such a fun and delightful read, it is written so well and the characters are
just so endearing and unique and they have a wonderful family dynamic to them
and it also has such a deep emotional center to the story that just makes you
love it even more, and I gave this book 5 stars and I would definitely like to
read more in this series. This is kind of a mystery, which is what my library
categorized it under, but I don't think it's much of a mystery, the mystery is
not the center of this book, it's more like a historical crime fiction with
family matters and a badass female lead. And again it is based on a true story
and it's just really cool and I really recommend you check it out. So those are
actually all the books that I have read in April, I'm right on track with my
short book reading goal which is 4 per month, and I will have to start another
short book tomorrow, the first of May, so that I can keep up with that, and I am
like a month ahead in my hundred book reading goal for the year, so I'm hoping
to again focus more on reading the short books and maybe only a couple extra
books that are not short books from my own shelves. So I did actually post a TBR
on Instagram earlier today that you can go check out, my username there is just
heyheybooks, and I also kind of wanted to add that I have basically stopped
using Twitter, the only things that are going up there right now are probably
automatic updates from YouTube and Goodreads, and I removed the app from my
phone and I used to have it as a home page on my laptop but that's not there
anymore, and yeah I'm kind of happy with it, I'm not using Twitter anymore, so I've
probably missed some notifications but I am on Instagram a lot, like all the time,
so you can definitely connect with me on there, and I recently actually posted a
bookshelf tour on there that just kind of pans across each shelf with no
commentary so I have that saved to my archived stories on my profile if you
want to check that out. I also have a very short little book haul for you
because about a week or two ago it was my
29th birthday and I got two books from my parents. The first one is this
beautiful edition of The Color Purple with The Temple of my Familiar by Alice
Walker. After reading The Color Purple I decided that I wanted a physical edition
of it and I found this one online to add to my wishlist and it's just so pretty
and purple and I can never get enough purple books, and now I have a copy of
The Temple of my Familiar to read as well. And the other book is a little
different, and that is Where's Jane. This is basically a Where's Waldo version of
Jane Austen books, and there is a full-page spread for each book with
different characters you can find and also Jane Austen is hidden in each image.
So if you haven't spotted by now she's right here with her little bonnet in her
book or notebook. So I definitely want to look through this a little bit more and
I hadn't heard of this so I'm really happy to own it because it's such a cute
idea. And I also want to show you my current yarn project and I have been
learning how to brioche knit as I showed you my practice swatch in my last
wrap-up, but now I've got an actual project going and I'm so excited. So this
is a kind of a cowl or infinity scarf I've been working on and I'm using a
navy yarn and then some of the yarn that I hand dyed myself which I also have
documented on my Instagram in my archived stories. So you can't really
quite see the proper shape of it because it's a little bit bigger than my
circular knitting needles but there are some photos on Instagram if you want to
check that out, and I'm really enjoying it, I'm still making
mistakes but I'm so much better at fixing them and getting less frustrated
about it. I haven't really been playing many video games lately since starting
working full time that has just kind of fallen off of my priorities list and
instead I've been focusing on knitting and reading. So maybe I will find some
time today on my day off to play a little bit of Assassin's Creed.
So that has pretty much been my life lately, a lot of working and I'm still in
the transition phase between my old job and my new job so I haven't quite gotten
into my new routine yet, but it's been pretty good. So that has been my April,
