...because it has succeeded in perfecting...

...one of the strategies adopted by the category killers,...

...that with the simple goal of selling the widest selection at the lowest possible price,...

...were able to implement a series of changes...

...to facilitate an improved cost structure.

Thus, through these changes,...

...they succeeded in boosting efficiency in management, sales, logistics, etc,...

...therefore enabling them to sell at a much improved price.

Those traders, who failed to innovate, disappeared when the crisis struck in 2008.

I see e-commerce as a super category killer,...

...which now competes with winners...

...of that mass extinction at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Well, these days all stakeholders are far more powerful.

They're better adapted, they have better cost structures,...

...and they're all experienced, offering guarantees, offering prices, etc,...

...in order to gain consumer trust.

How is this affecting physical stores?

The relationship between shops and e-commerce has evolved.

It started out as a coexistence in which one ignored the other.

It has now developed into a highly competitive world...

and is currently transforming into a symbiotic strategy...

...in which both groups seek to benefit from their association.

I think that shops that don't have some form of online channel will soon become a thing of the past.

We are currently experiencing a paradoxical situation...

...in which we see records at purchase-sale prices in shopping centres,...

...but at the same time the shares of the major operators...

...are trading at close to historical minimums.

In my opinion,...

...this is because the market anticipates doubts...

...as to whether or not these operators are able to adapt to the change,...

...but it also anticipates that the shopping centre model is one for the future.

That means that, at this stage, the challenge that operators are facing is extraordinary...

...because we have to work to excellent standards...

...and with barely any margin for error,...

...since in the competitive environment in which we live,...

...mistakes cost you dearly.

How is the role of the consumer changing in this new scenario?

The consumer is the one leading the change, the driving force for change, the one in charge....

If there was a time in which operators or promoters set the tone,...

...it's long gone now.

In competitive environments such as this,...

...the power is in the hands of the consumer.

I get the feeling that there are operators who are searching...

...for some kind of magic key that opens the pocket of the consumer.

That key doesn't exist.

The consumer will go to those operators that work with honesty.

Simply saying that you're cheaper or being the cheapest from time to time is no longer enough,...

...you have to change, you have to adapt,...

...you have to transform your business...

...and only then will the consumer return.

Preventing Boat Engine Failure

Welcome to Sailing Britican and today I'm going to take you through the engine

check that I do before we leave port.l I do these checks without fail before I

switch the engine on. Why do we do engine checks? We do this to prevent engine

failure. For our patreon supporters and Britican Club members they'll be

getting an extended version of this video. This will cover my thoughts on the

week-long diesel engine course that I took. Find out if I think you should take

a similar course or not. Additionally I'll go through the four reasons why we

had engine failure so our members know how to deal with this situation if it

happens to them. I have two main entrances to our engine room. I have two

doors in here and have a panel which is under the sink. If you want to follow me

I'll show you where the double doors are. Now you have to come in and get cozy.

Double doors opens out and there's our engine. I'm going to show you what I do

just my pre checks on my engine. What I do is W.O.B.B.E.L.S. Okay the first one

W-water. Come to my header tank here and check this water in there and there is

so happy with that. Next one oil. And wipe it off clean

Put it down. So what I'm looking for on my engine it likes to be halfway between

the two marks which it is and I'm really happy with that. Right next one W.O.B.B.E.L.S

Belts I've got two alternators on here and what I'm doing is I'm making sure

when I twist it that I don't go anymore or it doesn't go any more than a quarter

turn. And they're all perfect on them. So this one is my for my house batteries

and this one is from our engine batteries. So and the other one is

batteries which we we checked earlier but you can check on your batteries

sometimes they have a batteries in here. L is for leaks so I'm looking for is

looking around here. See if I can see any leaks. I can't see anything any leaks on

the engine. No - I'm quite happy with that. E is for electrics and what I'm looking for

is all the wires. Just checking the wires. See if anything looks out of

place because once you get to know your engine you'll be fine on that one

and the next one will be Start so we'll go upstairs and we're going to start the

engine. And I'll show you how a gain access to the other side. Follow me.

So when I open this side I'll get access to all of this. What I'm looking for is

no leaks from the fuel or electrics are okay and there's no water leak from the

impeller over here. And I check for any leaks.

So that's what I do. S is for start. So I press run if you're in a cold area

hold the heat for five seconds but it's nice and warm here. Quickly press in then

she starts. After I've started it what I do then is I go and check for a water

coming out of the exhaust but it doesn't come out the exhaust for me. It comes out of

a pipe right underneath the bottom of the boat underwater. So what I have to do

then is go to the side of the boat and check for bubbles. I can see the bubbles now

and that tells me that the engines working and the cooling systems working great.

I want to welcome you to my channel, my name is Arabic Mike

this is where I teach Arabic in amongst other things

I've made 30 Arabic Phrases [lessons], similar to this

today we're going to learn the phrase, "I arrived two days ago and I'm staying here for two years"

now why might you want to learn that phrase?

'I arrived two days ago and I'm staying here for two years'

well say you've just moved to the Middle East, like I did many years ago

and you're talking to people and you want to introduce your situation

now the way we're going to say this, is quite simply like this

I say simply, this is probably one of the harder of my Arabic phrases

compared to stuff like, 'where's the toilet?'

'where's the bathroom?'

anyway, the way we say this is like this:

there's a bit of rhyming there

you hear the 'ayn' and the 'ayn'

that's because 'ayn', if you add 'ayn' to any word, it makes it into the dual

like two...

let's break this down then

that means I arrived here, two days ago

literally means, 'waSaltu' I arrived, 'huna' here, 'qabl' before, 'yawmayn' two days

so 'yawm' means day

'yawmayn' is two days, so I arrived here two days ago

'wa', you can say 'wa', which is 'and'

'wa abqa huna', I'm staying here

or you can say, 'wa askun huna'

I'm living here

'limudda' for the duration of

or for, basically, 'limudda'

'sana' means year

'sana waHida' one year

'sanatayn' two years

'thalaatha sanawaat', three years

'arb3a sanawaat', you get the idea

another plural for 'sana', is 'sineen'

but let's not go there

it's got a nice ring to it

it really does, and that's why I chose it for this video

now a little bit more about learning Arabic

sometimes even great-great-great-relatives,

who fought in the Great War.

My great-great-grandpa,

his name was Douglas Guthrie.

Um, he was a private

in World War I.

Um, he enlisted when he was 21.

He got captured as a prisoner of war.

When I first saw this photo, I thought he looked really brave.

For Maya, it was her great-great-great uncle,

who she discovered was Indigenous Australian.

GIRL: His name was Edward Heath, and he was 30 when he enlisted.

I think he felt really, um, brave going to war

'cause he was probably trying to prove

that Aboriginals can do what white people can do,

and that they shouldn't be treated any differently

just 'cause they're a different colour.

These are his dog tags that he wore.

And for McKenzie, it was her great-great-grandpa,

but he was actually British fighting alongside Australians.

My great-great-grandpa was George Thomas Brigendon.

He joined the Royal Garrison Artillery

as a gunner, um, in 1914.

He was 30 when World War I started,

and he said that his scariest experience was, um...

..running new telephone wires to the front trenches

after the old ones had been blown up.

Polly and Maya's relatives are two

of the more than 400,000 Australian men

who enlisted in World War I.

By the time the war ended, around 60,000 of those men had died,

and about 170,000 of them were left wounded or ill.

It wasn't actually until 1919 -

months and months after the war ended -

that troops finally started coming home.

But it wasn't easy for many soldiers and nurses

to forget what they'd lived through.

It would be hard to just get back from the war

and go on with normal life.

'Cause you've got the memories and the wounds and...

..all the injuries and stuff.

While Polly's great-great-grandpa made it home to New South Wales

after being taken prisoner in Germany,

he was left permanently injured.

It was before the war

that this was taken

because after the war, he had those three fingers amputated off.

Australia had to work out some ways to help the survivors,

the wounded, the war widows and their families to recover.

So, the Government decided to offer free medical care, pensions

and places to live to permanently injured

or sick service people.

And carnivals and parades were held to raise money for them.

Whole organisations were even created to defend war veterans' rights

and help them get back to normal life.

You've probably heard of the Returned and Services League,

or RSL, that still exists today.

There were other struggles the country had to face too.

Many Australian industries weren't doing so well,

people didn't have as much money and jobs were way harder to find.

So, programs were created to help returned soldiers learn new skills,

like construction, mechanics or even haircutting.

And farming too.

In fact, state governments offered some soldiers a small piece of land

to farm if they wanted to.

The war touched so many lives in so many different ways

but while it wasn't easy, many of them were able to get through it.

My great-great-grandfather,

he used to live behind a shop when he was a child,

so they went back there and they started it as a shop

and then they had four children, all boys.

And the youngest one was my great-grandfather.

After the war, he would've gone back to England and had a family

and then his grandson, my grandfather, was the first person

in our family to come to Australia.

GIRL: I think it's important to remember them

because they did so much for our country.

And lots of people fought

and didn't survive very long.

And they've helped us go on to have what we have today.

Matterhorn Abominable Snowman Funko POP! Diamond Collection & Disney Parks Exclusive! - Duration: 6:22.

Hey guys, my name is hailey, welcome back to the Disney cupcake Channel today

We're gonna be checking out a new Disney parks Funko pop. So let's get started

So, this is the Matterhorn funkopop from Disneyland

This is the Diamond Edition one and it just came out about a week or two ago for me

I ordered this one on eBay, and I'm very very excited to open it

I've trying I've been trying to hunt on the original one, but it's very expensive right now

So I was able to get this time in addition one

Which I am very very excited about also make sure you guys are subscribed because I'll be doing a full

Mickey Mouse room tour for Mickey's birthday coming next Thursday

Subscribe hit the notification button because that video is going to be insane and there's also gonna be a giveaway involved

So make sure you guys stay tuned for that now, let's get into the review of the Funko pop

So this pop is number 289. This is the Matterhorn bobsleds

Abominable snowman some people refer to it as the yeni but it is the abominable snowman

This is the Diamond Collection and Disney parks, exclusive and on the other side

It just says his name as well as the number there and the back it just gives a little description of the Matterhorn bobsleds

Which is really really interesting then it has a whole Matterhorn in the back again. I really like detailing

I like how they have that on there. I like hell for the Disney park ones. They kind of have that

Description or kind of little hidden detail that if you've ridden the ride or been there

You know the reference to which I think is really really awesome. And then the other side is kind of just the same thing

So let's do this one open. Sorry to show you guys the detail of this figure

It's kind of the size of like wreckit-ralph. Have you gotten one of those ones?

It's in the normal box. But overall it is like a bigger size

See these ones don't actually shed that that bad like this one. I'm touching it. No glitter on my hands

I don't even feel the glitter on it. I love

This diamond collection that they're doing as I just said like you don't feel the glitter. It doesn't shed

Although I did have some of them

kind of just explode glitter all over my shelves so someone aren't that way but this specific one right now is

That doesn't mean if you would go out and buy this one that it might not be

It's hard to really say this one just feels like it has a like thick clear coating over it

So like it doesn't shed everywhere

Which is really smart

because I'm likely will stay on it because I do have some ones that I've gotten years ago that just have like glittery hair and

There's like no glitter left on it

So that stinks but I'm glad they're starting to figure it out. Now now taking a look at the abominable snowman. I

love

The coloring of this it is all white with blue feet hands and face features

I like the red eyes

the mouth and the teeth are

Really really good. This one is very clean. I love how you can see each individual finger tip and toenail

Everything like that. The hair detail is really good as well. I

Like this little lot and the glitter is really really pretty on it

It makes it seem like that

It does have snow on it or that it was just in the snow something like that, and it looks really cool

I like this one and I'm very very excited that I go on it again

I really really like how they are doing these for the Disney park attractions

I think it's so

So amazing and I hope that they continue to do more of these

They have been doing them a lot recently and there are so many more rides they can do them for

But it looks amazing very very excited for all these new pops coming out very excited for Mickey's birthday as well

and this is a great figure this retail for

$19.99 in the park. So $20, not that mad

For it being a part price and it being a pop figure and everything like that. This is a good quality one

It doesn't really have any issues with it. I

I like it, and it seems to stand up well, which is really really good

I know you guys may have saw on the Instagram. I've been having trouble with some my pop figures not standing up

Not trying to point out anyone, but I was able to get that figured out

So I'm gonna start saying that from now on if the pop stand up well or not

And if you do have pops or any figures that do not stand up very well

I highly recommend getting poster tack that way

It does not peel off the paint of the figures and it won't rip off paint of shelves or anything like that

But it sticks them through the shelf or wherever you may be displaying them

So they don't fall over and maybe damage the figure or any other items around it

I have many dents in my desks from avalanches happening

So I hope the abominable snowman does not cause any of those, but we'll see what happens

I absolutely love this this is a simple wall socket you plug in and it allows

you to control your lights from your smartphone no matter where you are in

the world the cool thing is is there's a lot of other products out there that

actually make you use Wi-Fi only with the ETEKCITY smart Wi-Fi plugs you

can use your data once you sync this to your phone if you scroll down and look

at my other videos and you'll see the review that I did on these I absolutely

love these things and these right here are running for around $24 for 1. You

can buy a 2-pack for around $35 just like I have listed here on the screen

behind me again I'm gonna put all these links below so you guys can check these

out this is definitely a cool gadget to have and it's a cool gift. Second on my

list is the TESSAN power wall outlet you see at the top it has two USBs and it

has three ports for regular wall sockets at the bottom again I use this on a

daily basis I have this in three rooms of my house and I love the fact that I

don't have to carry the blocks around or have the blocks sticking out and then

the USB there making my bed or my couch or something sit farther away from the

wall. That eliminates all of that, making it a definite plus for me it's running

for about $14.99 so go out and buy it if you're looking to add additional

light sockets and USB outlets throughout your house. So for number three I know I

said this was gonna be on tech gadgets but I had to throw a pair of great

headphones in there. These are some Bluetooth sport headphones with IPX6

water-resistant these headphones are better than any other headphones that

I've tried and they're super inexpensive and when I say better than any other

headphones that I tried I am talking about headphones under the price of $30

now for the price of $30 if you want to look at any of these other videos that

I've done in my past you'll see that I did a review on these and I did this

review about six months ago I use them for running I use them from working out

and I just love them and I wanted to make sure that I talked about these for

my top 5 gifts. This time I'm going to talk about two things that are going to

go with number four together if you love the

MacBook or you love your new laptops that only have USB-C connections these items

are gonna be amazingly useful for what you do. Now I have the new MacBook Pro

and it only has four USB-C ports, two on each side, which means I don't have any

USB regular ports which some people are like I would never do it but when you

get something like this which is super small and you can see it's smaller than

my pinky you plug this side into your USB-C, this side now gives you USB-A

capability at 3.0. This is only running at $5.99. YES! $6 is what you get

for one of these and on top of the $6 it's a two pack this is a super cool

device and then if you want to step your game up and you want to get something

bigger you can go with the RAYDEM this plugs into your USB-C on my MacBook

and then you'll see right here I have two USB-A 3.0 slots. On this side I have

another one I also have a TF/SD card reader right there I have a 4k HDMI

input right there and with my particular MacBook, I have the USB-C charging right

there which allows my MacBook to stay charged while I'm utilizing these

devices now this runs at $29.99 just catching the $30 mark for all of these

tech gadgets. Number 5 on the list is made by ANKER. This is a wireless charger

it's a fast wireless charger I tried like three different brands of these and

I ended up sending two back until I tested this one out and my phone was

charging really fast the one thing that I did learn is if you have something

like a nightlight or something like that that has a USB connection in the back of

it do not plug the USB cord from that into this.You want to plug it directly

into the wall into the back I liked it so much that I had one in my bedroom I

got one for the living room and then I just ordered another one that will

probably be here today for my office this particular device is running for

$20! I don't have to worry about the USB-C

I don't have to worry about the USB-A, the 3.0 I don't have to worry about

anything because I just sit my phone right on here and it charges it was so

cool that I also got a wireless charger for my car so now I have wireless

everything and I love it alright so there you have it. My TOP 5

pressure readings?

That's what this video is about. I want to say a word or two about

Welcome back. I'm Dr Joe of TheDrJoe.com

So, wrist blood pressure monitors have grown in popularity

Everyone seems to be buying them and using them to monitor

their blood pressure at home. That's not a bad thing.

But I'm really concerned about what those wrist blood pressure

monitors are delivering

Compared to this stuff.

This is the upper arm monitor.

So, I'll start with the positives

Well, the wrist blood pressure monitors are easy to use

So long as you can actually wrap

a wrist watch around your wrist, you can

use them. They are just like a wrist watch

Wrap them round and off you go. You get your blood pressure readings

So, they are very easy to use.

There's no dexterity involved in actually using them

The 2nd thing is; they're very portable

Because they are smaller than this one

Than the upper arm monitors.

So, they are very easy to put or fit into your bag and

Off you go, if you're travelling, you can take them along with you

That is not to say; these are bulky. I mean

these ones are also easy to carry around

But in comparison to the upper arm monitors

They are smaller. So, I'll give that to them

Now, Accuracy of blood pressure readings because that's the most

important factor

in all of this

Do they give accurate blood pressure readings? I'll tell you a story

I first came across

wrist blood pressure monitors

a couple of years ago. About 4, 5, 6 years ago...

I saw a full-page ad in a newspaper

talking about these wrist blood pressure monitors

I thought, that's a great idea.

And I thought, I will get one. So, I got one for myself

It arrived in the post a couple of days later and

I was very keen to get on with it

So I applied it and I was getting some really wild blood pressure readings

on the left arm.

Or left wrist, I should say

I did it twice. I was getting ridiculous readings like

240/160 mmHg

I thought; that's not right

I transferred to the right wrist. Same thing.

I was getting wild readings

Of course, because I have this one at home

I double-checked with that and I was getting low readings

At the time my blood pressure was well-controlled

I didn't believe the readings I was getting from it

So I called the

the retailer

Okay, may be that's a dodgy one, so

they said I should send it back

They sent me another one. Same result.

Nothing changed. So, I sent it back.

And I bought some more brands ever since

at the time

I tried them and to be honest

I got the same wild readings

So, the point is: they don't give accurate readings

In terms of accuracy, they fail on that one

If you get decent readings, that's probably sporadic

You need something you can rely on

So, accuracy? There's a very big doubt

about wrist blood pressure monitors

as far as accuracy of blood pressure readings is concerned

Just to underscore the point about accuracy, let me give a review. What I'll call

an honest review by a customer from that popular retailing website

So this customer wrote and I quote

He says:

I'm really disappointed with this product

The readings were wildly off

compared to my doctor's monitor

and it was dubious to say the least

I want to return this product and get a full refund

That's what I call an honest review

So, why do the wrist monitors give unreliable readings?

Well, for a start,

the wrist blood pressure monitors

they're ultra-sensitive to the body's position

compared to the upper arm monitors

So, that's the 1st reason. The 2nd reason is

when you're trying to measure your blood pressure

the cuffed part of the body, whether it is the wrist or the arm

it should be at the level of the heart

and as you can tell, this is not a natural position for the wrist

It's not a very natural position for the wrist to be in

For the arm, the arm is

already at the level of the heart

So, all it needs is a little bit of elevation

and you are right there

So, this is a natural position for the upper arm

That's the 2nd point

The 3rd point is that, the artery that

you 're trying to measure the blood pressure off

with the wrist monitor is called the Radial Artery

The radial artery is narrower and

is a lot more superficial compared to

the Brachial Artery from which you're taking the blood pressure off

with the

Upper arm monitors

the brachial artery is bigger and more deeply set

compared to the radial artery

that is more superficial and narrower

So, the blood pressure readings you get from the Radial artery are

usually higher compared to the Brachial artery

it then begs the question; why do people

go for the wrist blood pressure monitors

instead of using the regular

upper arm monitors

One reason is this. Some people have

a big arm

In which case, this regular size cuff

won't do. It's going to give abnormally high readings

So, they then go

for the wrist blood pressure monitor because

it doesn't require a huge cuff

Well, the way around that is; you go online and

search for

'big cuff for upper arm monitors'

So, you just buy a bigger cuff. So that takes care of that problem

Indeed if you go online, you're going to see a lot of options

for you to buy the bigger cuff

The other issue is that

to use the upper arm monitor, it does require a

certain amount of dexterity

And some people have issues with that. Here's what I'd say:

What you need to do is; always thread

the free end of the cuff

through the metal guide

Always thread it all the time. Have it threaded through

All you then need to do when you want to measure your blood pressure

You just slip your hand, your forearm through

And then slide it up

All you then need to do is FASTEN

Have it threaded through like this ready all the time

You might think by

virtue of this presentation that I am Anti-Innovation

Well, I am not. Nothing could be further from the truth

The thing is; I'm all for Innovation

But if innovation does not come with reliability, then I'll be asking myself the

question: what is the point?

I've tested a lot of these wrist blood pressure monitors

and in my opinion, they fail the Reliability Test

It's for that reason, I will NOT recommend the wrist blood pressure monitors

for you of you are watching this video

Stick with this upper arm monitors

They are reliable. They give accurate readings

So long as they are well calibrated

Ask yourself this.

When was the last time you went into a hospital or a doctor's office

and you saw them using the wrist blood pressure monitors?

After all,

these wrist blood pressure monitors have been around for a good number of years now

Why haven't they made their way into

the hospital environment. It's for that same reason

They are NOT reliable

Because they are very convenient to use and we should be using them in hospital

But we don't.

It's because they are not reliable
