Youtube daily report Aug 25 2017

Hello this is Seth Welling and welcome to another In Car Movie Review.

Tonight I went to see Wind River.

It was a surprisingly good film for an independent film.

Stars Jeremy Renner as Corey Lambert who's a game hunter/tracker, Elizabeth Olson as

Jane Banner who's a newbie FBI agent.

This film has similarities to Insomnia, Frozen River for location, Silence of the Lambs and

Blue Steel for Elizabeth Olson's character.

It has to do with someone who's killing Native American women.

It has to do with living life on a reservation and how a place can just kill your dreams

and stunt you and leave you with no hope especially if you're forced to live there like the

Native Americans on the reservation.

And how it really is up to the FBI to investigate murders on the reservation.

Elizabeth Olson's character could have been really weak, paint by numbers.

This little newbie FBI woman coming in to save the Natives and can't do anything.

But she really brought a different strength to it.

She was able to show that her character could rise to the task, rise to the occasion and

become a leader which is a really nice turn of events.

Jeremy Renner puts in a great subtle interpretation of a tracker.

Everything he says is basically understated and he gets his point across far better than

if he used more words to convey what he's feeling.

Spoiler alert!

He really can't convey what he's feeling.

You find out what it is but he just can't come to terms with it and put it into words.

I thought this an interesting film because it was entirely financed by the Tunica Biloxi

Tribe, a real Native American Tribe.

And they loved the screenplay.

And it hit me deeply because when I was younger I traveled around Gallup New Mexico and I

saw this reservation.

People were living in quonset huts with no windows and no doors.

It was hard to believe that this was still America.

I also experienced Native American people as far as a different tribe of Hualipai Indians

who were around the Grand Canyon/Colorado River area, And they were really very nice

to me when they didn't have to be.

And it just shows that these people - our Government doesn't treat them well, never

has.

And yet they still have a humanity to take me in and help me like they did when they

didn't have to.

And it just made me realize how these people and their culture works.

I didn't really have much more exposure but it just gave me a little glimpse into

these specific Native American's souls and what they were able to do as far as compassion.

It was really really heartening and good.

Overall, this films deals with missing Native American women and moving on from tragedy.

And I think you should see it.

I think it'll be a big player in the Oscar race later this year.

And it's really nice to see this type of story being able to be told so well on the

big screen as there are only a few movies about Native Americans and fewer still about

true Native American issues.

If you like this video, give it a thumbs up- like it and subscribe fore more.

Thank you and have a good night.

How to Play Gameboy Advance Games on Mac! Boycott Advance Mac Setup Tutorial! Mac emulator! - Duration: 3:21.

Hey guys, my name is Scoby and today I'm going to be showing you how to play game boy advance games on Mac

This is going to be a nice quick and easy tutorial

I'm gonna be showing you step-by-step how to get everything up and running

Let's jump right into this, so the first you're going to do is come to this website links are always in the description down below

And we're gonna be downloading Boycott Advance 0.4.0

You want to come down here click the download button right here and your download will begin. It's pretty small download

It's under a megabyte

So if you want to do is get that downloaded and then move it to location where you can find it easily

I currently have my Boycott advanced on my desktop Alongside Pokemon emerald

once you have it downloaded you want to double click the open boycott advanced and you may get this pop-up message saying that by

Boycott advanced cannot be open because it's an unidentified developer

I'm gonna be showing you step-by-step how to get rid of this we want to do is click ok?

We're going to click the little Mac logo on the top left and we're going to go to system preferences

Once you're in system preferences. You want to go to security and privacy and down here at the bottom

You should have a little pop-up message saying

"Boycott Advance" was blocked from opening because it is not from an identified developer

What you want to do is click on the right to click open anyway?

You want to click open one more time and anyone enter the credentials of the admin of the PC?

Or you might have to enter the password of the account you're currently on if you are already the admin to allow the software to

Be entered and to be able to be opened up. Once you have this done the application will automatically open what you have to do

Is just close down the actual system preferences and in the background Boycott advanced is open from here

You want to just locate where your games are so currently I have mine on my desktop

I'm not gonna be sharing in today's video or to download games

But games are really really easy to find a quick google search will help you out and you can find any game by advanced games

you want to play, games will usually come in a .zip folder what you want to do is extract out the .gba game

files from this folder

open it up a boycott and then your games will run perfectly and it's as simple as that to play Gameboy advance games on your Mac

I'm just going to be showing you a couple of settings in Boycott just so you know your way around the software now

what you want to do is go up to the top left we're going to be clicking on 'Boycott advanced' and we're going to be going to

Preferences and from here we can edit all the settings the first thing you want to do is go to video and you want to

set the framerate to

automatic this will stop any frame skipping or jumping in the actual software you can also display frame rate if you want to have at that

underneath the interface

we can select a couple different settings to run the game at the actual speed or we can change the volume at the bottom of

the interface. In the emulator I wouldn't really change any of these settings

You can play around with them if you wish but I recommend leaving then alone and then finally under joysticks

We're going to be able to set up controllers

and were going to be able to set up the keyboard the keyboard is a little tricky to set up

But I'm going to be showing you how to do it step by step right now

So we're going to do is click on configure Keyboard most people to assume

You click on the key you wish to use and it will give you a bunch of options of what the actual

Gameboy buttons would have and you can select

Accordingly to that, but in this case you to drag around the different controls and select which one you want by dragging and moving a little

It's a little bit more complicated than some of the other software I've seen but it does work

It's just a little bit confusing, once you've all your selected settings in the right place

You can click ok and then you can start playing your game, and that's how you play game boy advance games on Mac

It's a pretty simple tutorial

There's just a couple little things that need to be shown

Otherwise if you've never done it before it can be a little bit complicated

But it's pretty easy overall

Anyway guys if you enjoyed this tutorial be sure to drop a like subscribe if you're new check out the other videos on the channel

I'm going to be making some more Mac simulator tutorials in the future

This is the first one over here and the channel, but there will be more to come

If you found this video helpful you want to support the channel, I'm gonna leave my paypal link down below of course

There's no pressure if you can't anyway guys. Thank you so much for watching until next time

as always keep it saucy, peace

AI IS TAKING OVER | AskMeJP Episode 8 - Duration: 3:34.

This week on #AskMeJP I'm going to talk about how AI is driving sales for

companies. People who exercise are demanding podcasts and I'll be revealing

some amazing Amazon Echo research.

Hi everyone Jesse Perreault here from SOAP Media

let's talk about this week's digital findings. AI is driving sales to

companies, artificial intelligence is a great opportunity for startups to make

an impact and to cash in. A two-year-old chat bot company called headliner Labs

co-founded by the sister duo of Caroline Khlatt and Dana Gibber with clients such

as Donny Charm, a stylish scarf company have come out and used these bot

solutions the AI is very simple it was designed to give a good user experience

to promote relevant products, provide guides and tips now Donny Charm has come

out and said since implementing this AI solution they've seen a 63% increase in

overall sales. Now across the board headliner's clients are seeing a 40%

engagement rate with average chat bot sessions averaging 6 minutes or more and

most importantly Khlatt said that they're driving sales clients on average are

seeing a 13% increase in sales after implementing such AI and chat bot

solutions. People who exercise frequently are demanding podcasts a new study by

global web index that researched tens of thousands of consumers found out that

over 40% of people who do exercise frequently listen to podcasts. Now

fitness marketers need to adjust accordingly to this kind of demand.

Here's some awesome Amazon Echo research. To better understand how the consumers

are using their voice activated smart speakers at home, Pandora commissioned

Edison Research to check over 15,000 queries across 444 Amazon &

Google devices. Edison Research had asked participants who owned a device for over

a month to get a full week's of data from how they were interacting. Here's

some of the research that we found.

58% of users use their echoes for music

averaging about four hours and 34 minutes per week.

69% regularly tuned in to audio content

46% check the weather.

So the takeaway from this week's video

is that as digital marketers we need to adjust as technology changes. In regards

to AI it hasn't taken over the world just yet instead it's making you spend

more of your valuable money on things you don't necessarily need. And the next

time you're driving be thankful that people aren't jumping in front of your

car because they're watching a screen instead they're probably listening to a

podcast, audio win! And lastly Amazon Echo jumps into the market with an extremely

original idea of voice-activated technologies... with all jokes aside

Amazon's probably going to become a dominant force in this industry as

they're just good at selling everything. Thanks for watching this week's video be

sure to LIKE and subscribe for future videos if you have a question, #askmeJP

in the comment section below and be sure to check out last week's video regarding

the pong analogy. Just recently Elon Musk was able to apply AI to the game of Dota

2 and in two weeks it had learned over a hundred years of training and actually

just won against a major champion.

Shakespeare's Favorite Poems - Duration: 5:26.

hey, welcome to 12tone! shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

thou art more lovely and more temperate.

rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and summer's lease hath all too short a

date.

that's the beginning of William Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, probably one of the most famous

poems ever written, even if many people only know the first line.

but this is a music channel, why are we talking about poetry?

well, poetry and music are actually pretty closely related.

writing a good poem requires a deep understanding of sounds and rhythms.

it's like writing a song, except your instrument is language.

plus it helps if you're writing lyrics, but even if you're not, learning poetry makes

you a better musician, so today I want to look at one of the most famous traditional

forms, the sonnet.

the first thing we need to consider here is the meter. this is the underlying pulse that

everything is built on top of. in music, this is easy, because someone is usually playing

that pulse, but poetry doesn't have a backing band.

if a poet wants rhythm, they have to make it themselves, and to do that they turn to

the only tool they've got: words.

humans don't naturally speak in monotone.

we accent certain parts of the words we're saying, like I just did with "parts", "words",

and "say".

poets weaponize this natural tendency, carefully arranging their words so that rhythms appear

just by reading them out loud.

this is the main difference between poetry and normal writing.

a novelist doesn't really care where the emphasis falls, and their prose tend not to have any

cohesive structure to them.

a poet, on the other hand, cares deeply, and in order to describe the rhythms they create,

we've developed a system that we call feet.

a foot is a short repeating pattern of accents, almost like a time signature but for words.

there's lots of different kinds, and we've covered them before, but the important one

for our discussion of sonnets is the iamb, which is two syllables with the accent on

the second one, like "hello", "goodbye", or "explode".

compare those to the other main two-syllable foot, the trochee, which puts the stressed

syllable first, like "summer", "music", or "12tone".

as a brief aside, when I talk about the importance of meter, I'm talking specifically about western

poetic traditions.

other kinds of poetry, most famously the haiku, get their structure in different ways, but

in European poetry, meter is king.

anyway, back to the point.

most english-language sonnets are written in what's called iambic pentameter, which

sounds scary but actually just means that each line is made up of five iambs, like "shall

I compare thee to a summer's day".

notice that sometimes the foot can stretch across words, so even though "summer" is a

trochee, it combines with "a" and "day" to form two iambs instead.

the other important part of poetry is rhyme, and here, sonnets get much more complicated.

there's a general agreement that sonnets are 14 lines long, but there's a couple different

ways to fill them in.

the simplest one is probably the Shakespearian sonnet, which breaks it into three groups

of 4 lines with an extra two at the end.

a group of four lines is called a quatrain, and each quatrain has the rhyme scheme ABAB,

meaning that the first line rhymes with the third and the second rhymes with the fourth.

if we look back at Sonnet 18, we see "summer's day" rhyming with "month of may" and "too

short a date" rhyming with "more temperate", at least if you pronounce it like Shakespeare

would've.

the Shakespearian sonnet features three of these quatrains, each with its own set of

endings, and then wraps up with a couplet, which is just two lines that rhyme. in sonnet

18, we have "So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this

gives life to thee." this final couplet helps wrap things up and signals the end of the

poem.

but that's not the only rhyme scheme you might find in a sonnet. one of my favorites is the

Spenserian sonnet, which is a lot like the Shakespearian sonnet, but a little more connected.

each of the quatrains still takes the form ABAB, but in addition to that, the first line

also rhymes with the last line of the previous quatrain.

so, if Sonnet 18 were a Spenserian sonnet, the first and third lines of the second quatrain

would have to rhyme with "date".

but those are pretty similar, and they're both relative newcomers: the earliest known

sonnets weren't English, they were Italian, and these are best exemplified by the poet

Petrarch.

Petrarchan sonnets have a somewhat more involved form.

the first 8 lines are combined into one giant rhyme scheme called an octave, which means

something completely different to poets than it does to musicians.

in a Petrarchan sonnet, the octave always has the rhyme scheme ABBAABBA, which means…

well, it's kind of like a couplet sandwich: you've got this couplet in the middle, in

between two more couplets that also rhyme with each other, all stuck in the middle of

one last couplet that rhymes with our first one.

if that sounds confusing, don't worry: all that matters here is that the 8 lines are

all connected.

the second half is what's known as the sestet, which covers the remaining 6 lines.

here, the structure is looser. sometimes they have two rhymes, like the form CDCDCD, and

sometimes they have three, like CDECDE.

there's no hard and fast rules as to how this part should be arranged, although technically

you're not supposed to end with a couplet.

people did it anyway, though, 'cause poets are the original punk rockers.

this sudden change in rhyme scheme brings up an important structural element in sonnets:

the turn, or volta.

sonnets are usually divided into two parts, with a sudden thematic shift marked by a change

in sections.

in Sonnet 18, that change occurs between the second and third quatrains: the first part

describes the subject as beautiful in the moment, but the line "And every fair from

fair sometime declines" tells us that beauty is impermanent.

however, at the start of the third quatrain, we get the line "But thy eternal summer shall

not fade" and from there on out, the subject and their beauty become immortalized by the

poem itself.

the volta is most commonly found in the ninth line, especially in Petrarchan sonnets since

that's where we switch to the sestet, but it can go anywhere, at least in theory.

you can even leave it out, if you're feeling especially punk rock.

sonnets can be an interesting challenge because they force you to think about language in

ways you may not be used to.

they have enough structure to them to guide you through the process, but there's still

enough freedom to allow for a wide range of expression.

they can be difficult, but they're great practice and besides, they're just fun.

anyway, thanks for watching! if you want to help make these videos possible, please consider

Day Trading From Hawaii! $300 PROFIT AT OPEN - Duration: 5:30.

what's going on guys good morning I'm actually doing a little bit of a

different kind of recap I recorded this trade here on GM he's live you can see

this morning looking on the top losing stocks you can see GME they're popping

up they're down 8% checking out stocks with seeing what the story was about see

what people were talking about bad news earnings so that was kind of the goal I

was like ok ACGME has bad news all the earnings is bad people are talking about

it so I ended up going short I'm getting filled there at the 1990 area and was

looking for this move you can see here looking at the previous resistance

previous support previous support back there at the 2025 area so we were below

that really no support below where we were at so we were already below that

this morning had bad news so basically looking at this 1976 degree as pre

market support 1980 so looking for that break there of 1980 I had plenty of

buying power left I was gonna try to get some more shares I'm try to get about a

thousand shares there up at the 20 dollar area if I keep getting filled so

basically watching this thing bounce you can see some of my fills they're short

this morning getting that fill there at the 1995 area was looking for this

bounce here and it ended up actually breaking through this 1980 area and

getting a bunch of buyers for a second got me kind of worried this might not

want to crash and you can see as this breaks through 1980 this goes lower and

lower it breaks through 1980 there goes down there to the 1970 area and then

gets bought up really quickly I was up 60 bucks at that point it was 3:30 in

the morning here in Hawaii so thinking uh maybe I'll just cover here go back to

bed up made 50 bucks can't complain and you can see it bounced pretty hard there

and then came back up pretty fast so I was thinking okay I need to grab some

more shares here get a higher average make some get some more shares here

maybe above that $20 here if we get that break of 20 coming at that 20-25 area as

my stop area if it goes above that was probably cover there for a small loss

but I was basically watching this channel area in 1980 20 25 area was

hoping to get filled a little bit higher than 20 20 a little bit closer that 20

26 area try to get thousand shares put an order out there try to get filled one

more time there at 1998 couldn't get filled there

cancelled out of order basically was waiting GME retail stock really not a

too convinced that the stock had much power to go higher

basically it was worried we might just get kind of stuck there at Obon maybe do

a little bit of the balance but you can see here it jumped up there to 2010 big

sellers popping up there on the sell side and that was a good sign I ended up

trying to get filled there at 20 2015 couldn't get filled I thought we might

get that break of the 2010 area didn't get ever didn't never break it there you

see my put my order out there at 2015 trying to get 200 more shares here so

you have a thousand shares and that got smacked down really fast and just didn't

work out and going right in here to open a bunch of volume on that Cain old one

minute candle here nine it's like 928 here and you can see from that 2010 area

pulling back down below $20 it's basically watching the twenty dollar

area trying to get 200 more shares there at 2005 couldn't get filled never got

back up there and basically ride it open this thing that starts to crash had

previous support from earlier when this thing crashed I put er there the

nineteen fifty area so basically was watching that getting ready for open

here market opens and this thing just starts to crash so end up canceling that

last order only had eight hundred shares probably should he grab two hundred more

shares there at nineteen ninety-six would have been nice fill but you can

see it working out pretty good for me overall waking up three three the

morning I was actually dreaming all night that I was trading and then I woke

I was like wait is it already time to trade or did I trade or I'd make any

money here in Hawaii a little bit different trading at 3:30 in the morning

looking without 1980 area to break and just start to settle off here at open

and it really had no chance once that nineteen eighty area broke and boom

right through open just crashed through that nineteen eighty year you can see

him up behind $62 was waiting seeing we get this bounce at nineteen fifty area I

was thinking I might just take profit right there three hundred bucks and then

I ended up taking profit there kind of had a little bit of support there at the

nineteen fifty area for a second and you can see it make it three hundred right

after that it just starts crashing going lower down there to 1920 there 1921 look

at the sellers they're stacking out there's a short sale restriction here

but a lot of sellers on the ask right now just look at those sellers stacking

up there this thing had no chance of going higher

should he gave it more time since maybe only covered half but hey you know what

it is hindsight's always 20/20 this thing could've balanced their 1950 maybe

went back to the $20 area who knows well there is breaking through nineteen

dollars I had 800 shares they're short and would have been a beautiful 800 or

profit just holding this one for the first two or three minutes here there it

is night down there to below $19 1890 was a low there so GME just doing

exactly what I had planned working out breaking through that 1980

area and then breaking through that previous support that balanced there

free market at 1959 so beautiful morning make 300 hours here went back to sleep

afterwards I woke back up and made this little recap for you guys hopefully you

guys enjoyed it a little bit different than normal sitting by the pool you can

hear the birds chirping the wind blowing here in Hawaii it's a beautiful morning

gonna go out and do some surf and have some fun today and on that note I will

talk to you guys later remember the number one rule bears and bulls make

money the stock market pigs get slaughtered

Dear SQL DBA - I Faked My Resume - Duration: 13:34.

Welcome to Dear SQL DBA, a podcast and YouTube Show for SQL Server

developers and database administrators. I'm Kendra Little from SQLWorkbooks.com.

I've done the last couple episodes on interviewing and helpful tips for

landing that SQL Server DBA job, and I got a related question this week.

This question from a reader goes like this: Dear SQL DBA, I've taken courses on

becoming a SQL Server DBA recently but I wasn't getting any calls for

interviews and it seems that there just aren't opportunities out there for

people who don't have experience. So I added three years of fake experience to

my resume saying I had worked as a DBA. Now I'm getting calls to screen me but

interviewers are asking me questions about real work scenarios. I'm very good

at DBA work, but how do I prepare for these work scenario questions in

interviews. Well, this is an honest question. Sort of. I mean, it's an honest

question about being dishonest, right? There are a lot of people out there who

lie on their resumes. I mean we know this from the news: there are executives who

get caught late in their careers having faked degrees. If you think about

this, you're like, "wow how could this person who went so far be so dumb as to

lie about this in the modern age?" Once you lie about something once you're

often very stuck with that lie because your resume is out there or your

LinkedIn profile that used to contain it is cashed, or there is some evidence. Or

someone in your network knows that you once said that you had an experience, or

you had a degree, or you had a certification... and it will catch up with

you! So in the modern world, once you start on this path of

being dishonest, it is very hard to change it. People who do this often

have it follow them for a very long time. There are a lot of people out there who

look for DBA jobs and who lie about their experience. or lie about their

certifications, or have even cheated to get those certifications. When folks

ask, "will a certification help with my career?" a big part of the

reason that certifications don't hold that much weight when it comes to hiring

managers anymore is there is a history of a lot of people cheating on

certifications. While it might become part of an overall successful package

when you go through interviews, people are really going to want to make sure

that you do have experience. and you do really know things. That's the reason

that just saying you have a certification often isn't good enough. So for our

questioner, and for for anyone else who's in this boat -- because there are other

people who do this! I know, because I've done a lot of phone screens: there are

a lot of people who fake experience and it becomes pretty obvious in the

interview process. There are a few things that you should know about the DBA job.

In fact you are NOT good at being a DBA. Our questioner said, "I am good at this

SQL DBA stuff." Actually you're not, and it is the wrong job for you. I'm not

saying this out of moral outrage, I'm saying this practically

because the essence of the DBA job, in fact the most important core

thing about being a DBA is about being accountable when things go wrong. As a

SQL Server DBA, this isn't just about knowledge of what page size the SQL

Server uses, or SQL Server internals. The core job of the DBA is to be the

person who's answering questions like: "Why were we offline?" "Why is the data

wrong?" "Why does this customer say we lost data?" "Why didn't this change go as

planned?" "You said it would be like X but it didn't go that way, why?"

"What happened to those indexes?" "Why do we have corruption?" "Why didn't we

find this earlier?" A core -- in fact I think really THE most important thing about

being a DBA -- is to be honest and accountable about what happened, and what

we should do in the future. As a DBA, if when things get hot and when

things get under pressure, if your impulse is to make something up in

the moment -- to say something to get the heat off you -- it's going to go really

really badly for you. It's going to be a time where you lose your job, where you

have a hard time getting another job, and you get really really burnt in terms of

being able to succeed. As a DBA you need to be able to tell the truth even when

it's really unpleasant, and doesn't work in your favor. In the long run that

always works better for you as a DBA, but in the short term it is really really

hard, and if your inclination is to lie on your resume about your experience

that shows that you're not suited to the most core, important

things about being a DBA. The second thing you should know, is that yes, it does

take a long time to get a DBA job. There are actually a lot of good

reasons for that. This isn't a new thing that it's hard to get a job as a DBA.

It's it's been hard to get a job as a DBA for a long time. When you think about

data, usually data is one of a company's most valuable assets. If they lose data,

or the data is massively incorrect, or even just if a database is offline for a

long time, this often can be a business ending event. Not just expensive, but so

expensive that the company can't proceed. This is so critical that they want

people managing the data who have not only knowledge about how to keep the

data online, but also experience at handling things when they go wrong,

and experience at planning successful changes, and preventing things from going

wrong. Experience in a lot of processes. They also someone who has experience

being accountable. I had a lot of education, I had a Bachelor's degree and

a Master's degree, and my path to becoming a DBA took more than five years.

When I was in graduate school, I discovered that I loved working with

data. I had a work-study job where I got to work with Access databases, and I

found it fascinating. After I got my degree, I wanted to

do it full-time, but I had to move through so many different jobs because

no one would hire me as a DBA. I didn't have the experience, and frankly I didn't

have the accountability. So I worked through all sorts of different jobs and

I would always look for jobs where I could work with data, where I could

get a little more experience: understanding processes, understanding

how different teams work together. Finally I got a job at a software

company, but I still wasn't a DBA. I had to very carefully work myself to a place

where I had enough experience that I could get a job as a DBA, and I

still had to go from a relatively secure full-time job to a contracting job as an

DBA. but it was worth it to me because as I progressed through that, it

was still what I enjoyed the most. It was still what I wanted to

do. But for a lot of people, there might be places along this journey where along

the way you find out you actually like doing something else better. That's

totally valid. But I needed all of the experience that I got

on this five year journey to finally getting to be DBA. How software

development works in different situations; how you can make it work

the best for your data; how you can manage changes with different types of

software development: these are things I learned. How I could design changes and

minimize risk; how to react when things go wrong -- and that is not a simple

thing to learn about, how to react when things go wrong. Over these five years, I

saw a lot of different things go wrong, and I got to see different teams

reacted to that, how they started the approach, how flexible they were, how they

communicated during it, how they followed it up on it, what went well, what should

change in the future. I mean it was all stuff that when I finally

did get that DBA job I used it all. And right now all right for our questioner:

when things are wrong your reaction is to fake it. Now, it's it's possible that

you could learn something different, right? I mean it's not like if you lie

once in your life and you're doomed forever, and you're never going to be able to be

a DBA. I'm not saying that. But right now your reaction is to fake it and to be a

successful DBA you're really gonna have to train that out of you, because that

will backfire on you, and it will just burn you over and over. Eventually

it will just get you out of this career. But to change things, and to get

the experience needed and really move away from that, so when things go

wrong you think of multiple viable options that you can do that have

nothing to do with faking it -- that's going to take possibly longer than five

years. You're likely to get derailed before you get there.

Honesty is just an essential essential business skill for DBA. If you're

starting out at a place where you're not in the honesty range and you

lack this essential skill, I would honestly look elsewhere just because of

efficiency. Because getting to the point where you can be creative and be honest

all the time is going to be a really big leap in addition to learning everything

else that you need to learn you can get there. It may just take a very very

long time, and I would focus on driving all of that

impulse to fake it out of all of your responses to life, because that is just

gonna truly poison your career as a DBA. For some folks,

you may be like, "Well, what about exaggeration?" A lot of people do

exaggerate on their resumes. When you are building your resume, if you know

that you're exaggerating about something don't do it. Don't inflate numbers,

don't put things on your resume that aren't true. For other people, it can be a

little trickier: some people have a hard time writing their

resume because even just stating the truth feels like bragging to them. But a

lot of times if you're one of those people and you're self-conscious,

and you're just trying to even state your accomplishments, and you're

like, "oh but I'm worried that I'm being dishonest," find someone to work with on

your resume. Someone honest-- you're not hiring someone to fake things for you--

but but find someone who to help you translate your experience into resume

versions of that statement, which may at first feel like bragging to you. But

bragging is fine. Dishonesty is NOT fine. On a resume, bragging is what really

it's all about. You want to keep it real, you don't want to brag about

things that didn't happen, but you do want to -- on a resume you're saying,

"Hey, here's the cool stuff that I did," and you want to be upfront and you want to

be clear about that. Finding someone to work with you on your resume who you

can talk things out with, and get a short phrasing of things that is still

accurate, other people can help you with that. Maybe it's a friend, maybe it's a

professional resume writer, maybe it's a past colleague or a mentor. Other

folks can help you with that as well. So I do want to distinguish that

feeling like you're bragging is absolutely not the same thing

necessarily as being dishonest. The truth is we all know when we're lying, and

that's the trait that just won't serve you as a DBA. I would like to thank my

questioner for an honest question. I hope you take this feedback that I really I

really don't think this is the career for you-- I hope you take that to heart,

and I do wish you the best in your career, wherever it takes you. But yeah as

a DBA really that accountability is just such

a critical, critical business skill. Thanks for joining me this week for Dear

SQL DBA. I'm Kendra Little, and I'll see you again next week.

7 annoyances of Plasma 5 KDE - Duration: 7:56.

KDE Plasma 5 is my favorite desktop environment.

But there are 7 things which I find very annoying in Plasma 5.

I would like to show them to you and get to know what you think about them.

Hello everyone, It's Average Linux User

helping you to install, configure and use Linux.

I make Linux tutorials every Wednesday and Friday.

Subscribe and hit that bell notification, so you won't miss any new video.

If you are my subscriber already, you should know that KDE is my favorite Linux desktop.

I recommend you to check my Plasma 5 customization playlist.

I liked KDE4 and with the release of Plasma 5 my love for KDE increased even more.

Nevertheless, there are 7 small things which I find annoying in Plasma 5.

So, let's have a look at what these things are and how to fix them.

Number 1. Single-click to open files and folders

Plasma 5 and probably all previous versions

of KDE desktop by default use single mouse click to open files and folders.

You click once with your left button on a folder and it opens.

The same applies to files.

You click on it once and it opens.

Don't get me wrong, Single-click may be a better way to operate the desktop.

But I am used to doing a double-click to open files and folder.

I believe it is a traditional way to operate the desktop.

You do a single-click to select a file or a folder

and then if you want to open it you do double-click.

If you want to do something else you do a right-click.

If I want to delete a file, I select it with a single-click and press the Delete key.

I am not sure how to delete a file if you use single-click to open files.

Because I cannot select it. You click on it and it opens.

The only way I see is to use the right-click, but it is less efficient than the delete key.

To change this behavior, you need to go to the Settings → Input Devices → Mouse.

And here you can change your preference between single-click and double-click.

This is the first thing I always do whenever I just install KDE desktop or a KDE distribution.

What is your preference?

Do you use a single-click?

Number 2. Unreadable Tooltips in GTK applications.

If you don't understand what I mean.

This is what I mean.

Can you read this tool name?

It was very annoying in the early versions of Plasma 5.

It seems to be fixed in the latest Plasma 5.

I don't follow this issue so I cannot say for sure which Plasma version has this issue.

But if you experience it, the fix is very easy.

Open the Settings, go to colors, and deselect "Apply colors to non-QT applications".

In older Plasma 5 versions, the color settings are little different.

But you can find "Apply colors to non-QT applications" here.

Log out and log in.

Now the Tooltips are readable and look nice.

Please, comment below if you have ever experienced this annoyance.

Number 3. Smart windows placement.

Although it is called smart windows Placement, I don't find it very useful.

I would say that the windows open randomly on the desktop.

I like my windows to open in the center.

If I need I can then move it where I want it.

To change the windows placing, go to the Settings → Windows Management → Advanced tab.

And select Centered Placement.

Now, when you open a new application. It opens directly in the center.

Number 4. Qt scrolling is incredibly slow

If you open any Qt applications,

for example, let's open add widgets,

scrolling with the mouse wheel is incredibly slow.

It is almost impossible to use.

So, I usually just use the scroll bar.

The way to fix was discovered by Linux4UnMe

I leave a link to his video in the description

He showed the fix for OpenSuse.

The idea is to install the driver xf86-input-mouse

and remove the installed driver xf86-input-libinput.

Unfortunately, removing xf86-input-libinput on Arch Linux breaks dependencies.

I found another way to fix it.

If you are also on Arch Linux, do the following:

Install xf86-input-evdev package

Create this file

And paste this content there.

I also copy these instructions to the description under this videos.

Ctrl+O to save and Ctrl+X to exit from Nano.

After that Log out and log in.

Now, the scrolling is normal.

Number 5. Places in Dolphin file manager are empty

I just don't understand why not to put here some default quick access places

such as Document, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Video.

For example, in GNOME desktop,

the file manager already has these places in the left panel by default

In Plasma 5, you have to add them manually. It's not very difficult but it is still annoying.

This is what I do almost immediately after my first log in into a fresh Plasma 5.

Number 6. Task Switcher

I don't like the default Task Switcher in Plasma 5.

When you press Alt+Tab the open windows are shown on the left side of the desktop.

I find it very inconvenient especially if you have a 24-inch screen or larger.

I prefer to change it to Large Icons or Thumbnails.

With these options, you can see all the open windows in the center

and I think this is a more convenient presentation of all open windows.

Number 7. Restore Previous Session.

All Linux distros I tried have the feature "Restore Previous Session" enabled by default.

It is probably useful for some, but not for me.

I prefer to start my Plasma 5 session clean.

To demonstrate you what I mean,

when you have several applications open

and you shutdown your computer,

next time when you start your Plasma session it will open all those applications again.

In my opinion, it only slows down the startup time.

If I what to save my session, I use suspend to RAM.

The wake up is much faster that way.

To disable this feature, go to the Settings → start up and shutdown → Desktop Session.

And select Start with an empty session.

After that Plasma 5 will not save any previous session.

And you will always start with a fresh Plasma desktop.

I would like to state again

Plasma 5 is the best Linux desktop in my opinion.

The KDE team does an incredible job and the development of KDE desktop is the most impressive

among all the other Linux desktops.

If you remember KDE3, it was the worst Linux desktop.

And the Plasma 5 is the first candidate to be the best Linux desktop.

But there is nothing ideal, that is why I decided to share these 7 things

which I don't really like in Plasma 5.

What do you think about these 7 things?

Would you add something to this list?

Please, write your opinion in the comment section.

Thank you for watching.

Staffer In Charge Of Finding Positive Trump News Stories Resigns From White House - Duration: 3:43.

A few weeks ago, we did a story about a man named Andy Hemming, the 31 year old Donald

Trump staffer whose job it was to gather mainstream media articles about Donald Trump that were

positive and then present them to the President twice a day for Donald Trump to get his, I

guess, twice daily dose of feel-good-isms.

Well, on Wednesday of this week, Mr. Hemming decided that he couldn't do this anymore,

and he officially resigned from Donald Trump's staff.

His official title was Director of Rapid Response for the White House Communications Team, and

in addition to feeding the President positive news stories about himself, he was also supposed

to communicate with members of the mainstream media, CNN, Washington Post, credible news

sources like that, and tell them all the good things that the President had accomplished

so that maybe these news outlets that Donald Trump was attacking relentlessly every single

day would go out there and report a positive story about the man who claims that these

news outlets are just fake news.

Obviously it didn't go to well, so, though we don't have a huge, in depth reason that

Mr. Hemming decided to resign his position in the White House, that leaves it open for

speculation.

So if part of your job is gathering up positive news stories about Donald Trump and then you

suddenly resign, maybe it's because there are no positive news stories about Donald

Trump because he hasn't done anything positive.

If the other part of your job is telling the media the positive things he does and then

you resign, we can only assume it's because you have nothing positive left to say to these

people.

It must have been tiring going to these news outlets that Donald Trump demonizes on Twitter

and during rallies every single day and saying, "Hey, look, I know he just tweeted out a picture

of you getting hit by a train, but would you consider running this story about how great

he did at the golf course today?"

I can imagine that's going to get pretty frustrating pretty quick, and I can also imagine that

the, uh, media outlets probably had some not so friendly words for Mr. Hemming anytime

he pitched them a story about this man-baby of a President that we have, that only wants

to see positive stories about himself but doesn't understand that in order for people

to write positive stories, you have to actually do good things.

Mr. Hemming's job was solely to play to Donald Trump's narcissistic personality disorder.

That is what this is all about, that is what his position was all about, and hopefully

Mr. Hemming started to realize that, especially once the press started paying attention to

who he was, what he was doing, and the fact that he was making just shy of $90,000 a year

to hand Donald Trump a folder full of positive news stories.

Maybe that pressure got to him a bit.

Maybe the public scrutiny was a little too much.

But I'm going to go with he probably left his job because there was nothing positive

left to say or even lie about with regards to Donald Trump.
