of them are really memorable in anyway.

Basically, Devoe�s right hand.

She�ll support Devoe no matter the consequences.

This information was released a while back and within the time this news came out to

now, Kim Engelbrecht has been cast in the role and meets the description above for the

Mechanic pretty well in my opinion.

You may know her from Eye In The Sky or Dominion, if you would like to check out what she's

like as an actress definetly go watch those films.

From what I've seen I believe she will do a decent job at portraying the character well.

The Mechanic will be a recurring guest throughout the season.

There was an Earth-2 Mechanic at one point, and then another one who appeared in Paul

Cornell's Knight & Squire stories during the Batman Incorporated era.

Here, making her essentially The Tinkerer from Spider-Man: Homecoming offers a good

deal of potential.

Also an intresting fact to note is that The Mechanic will actually be a feamle in The

Flash season 4 despite the history of the character being all male.

We have also seen this done before with the character top, which we've seen a few time's

througout the show.

Personally I am a fan of seeing all these characters being changed up in the show from

the original and giving us a different interpretation of what we've seen before.

Procurement Guidance: Off-Site Procurement Review Process - Duration: 18:40.

Welcome to the California Department of Education's video, Off-site Procurement Review Process.

My name is Courtney Hardoin, and I am a Nutrition Education Consultant in the Nutrition Services

Division at the California Department of Education, which I will refer to as the CDE throughout

this video.

In California, all school food authorities, or SFAs, will have a periodic procurement

review conducted by in-house CDE staff.

The purpose of this training is to help SFAs learn how to be successful in the procurement review.

The objectives of this training video are to assist SFAs to:

1. Understand the purpose and frequency of the off-site procurement review

2. Learn what information the SFA must provide in the SFA Procurement Table

3. Identify which documents the SFA must submit to the CDE, and

4. Provide SFAs with step-by-step instructions on the review process

Throughout this video, I will reference helpful Web pages to assist SFAs with the procurement

review process.

To access these Web pages, please select the Show More tab, directly below this video.

Procurement, which means buying goods and services, is a significant responsibility of the SFA.

Procurement rules ensure that: • Taxpayer dollars are used effectively

and efficiently; • SFAs are receiving goods and services

that meet the school's needs at the best price; and,

• There is no waste or abuse.

Regulations require that all purchases made by SFAs, whether funded wholly or in part with child

nutrition program, or CNP, funds,comply with all federal, state and local procurement regulations

To ensure this, the federal regulations require state agencies to monitor SFA's procurement practices.

So how often will the CDE perform an off-site procurement review?

The frequency with which the CDE will perform an off-site procurement review will depend

on the agency type.

The CDE will perform an off-site procurement review every three years for all SFAs that

contract with a Food Service Management Company (or FSMC), Residential Child Care Institutions

(or RCCI), private schools, and camps.

The SFAs in this three-year cycle will receive the off-site procurement review during the

same year that they are scheduled for an administrative review, or AR.

The CDE will perform an off-site procurement review every six years for all public school

districts, charter schools, and county offices of education operating without an FSMC contract.

The SFAs in this six-year cycle will receive the off-site procurement review every other

time they are scheduled for an AR.

It is important for the SFAs to note that the procurement review is based on the prior school year.

For example, reviews conducted in school year 2017-18 will assess procurements made in school year 2016-17.

To assist state agencies with performing the off-site procurement review, the U.S. Department

of Agriculture, or USDA, developed a Procurement Review Tool, which I will refer to as Tool

throughout this video. CDE staff will use the Tool to:

1. Evaluate the SFA's procurement procedures

2. Assess the SFA's compliance with applicable federal and state procurement regulations and laws.

3. Establish findings and corrective actions (which are nonfiscal), if needed; and

4. Capture technical assistance provided to the SFA

The steps in the review process are listed on this slide.

Phase one includes steps one through three, highlighted in green.

This is the pre-review phase.

In this phase, the CDE notifies the SFA that they are scheduled for an off-site procurement

review and the SFA completes and submits to the CDE all required pre-review documentation

by the due date.

Phase two includes steps four through six, highlighted in blue.

This is the review phase.

In this phase, the CDE determines which procurements to select for review, requests the SFA to

submit procurement documents related to the selected procurements, and conducts the off-site

procurement review.

Phase three includes steps seven through nine, highlighted in red.

This is the closing phase.

In this phase, the CDE and SFA work together to close the review.

We will now review each step in detail.

Let's begin with phase 1, steps 1-3: the pre-review phase.

In Step 1, the CDE notifies the SFA by e-mail in August that they are scheduled to receive

an off-site procurement review.

This correspondence will include a link to the CDE Web page where the SFA can access

the SFA Procurement Table that they must complete and links to procurement review resources,

a list of documents that the SFA must submit to the CDE, the due date the SFA must submit

these documents to the CDE, and the e-mail address that the SFA will use to electronically

provide these documents to the CDE.

In Step 2, the SFA will complete the SFA Procurement Table, which is a fillable spreadsheet where

the SFA enters the required procurement information.

The SFA will use their Vendor Paid List (or summary of expenditures) from the prior school

year to assist them with completing the SFA Procurement Table.

This is a snapshot of the SFA Procurement Table.

The SFA will enter the required information for the review and send the completed SFA

Procurement Table to the CDE as part of the pre-review process.

The SFA Procurement Table is divided into a top part and a bottom part.

At the top of the SFA Procurement Table, there are four required sections that the SFA must complete.

1. Name of the SFA. For example, ABC School District.

2. Procurement Staff.

For example, the food service director and purchasing manager.

If possible, please include a minimum of two staff that the CDE can contact with questions.

3. Small Purchase Threshold.

In this section, the SFA will select the type of Local Educational Agency, or LEA, using

the drop-down menu; for example, public school district, private school, camp, etc.

Based on the type of LEA selected, the Tool will automatically determine whether the SFA

must adhere to the federal small purchase threshold of $150,000 or the $88,300 California

state small purchase threshold, which may be adjusted annually on January 1 of each

year and only applies to public school districts and county offices of education.

In section three, the SFA will also need to enter their local small purchase threshold, if applicable.

This will inform the CDE if the SFA is required to follow a more restrictive small purchase

threshold than the federal or state threshold.

4. Group Purchasing Information.

In this section, the SFA must indicate whether they are involved in group purchasing, such

as a cooperative purchasing organization.

After the SFA completes the four required sections at the top of the SFA Procurement

Table, they will scroll down to the bottom part of the SFA Procurement Table to complete

the Procurements section.

In this section, the SFA selects the procurement or solicitation type from a drop down list.

Depending on the type of procurement selected from the list, the cells that the SFA is required

to complete, will be highlighted.

For example, if the SFA selects micropurchase as the procurement type, only cells that relate

to micropurchases, such as how many purchases were made from this vendor during the school

year, are highlighted for the SFA to complete.

The SFA will enter information about the procurement types listed on this screen in the procurements

section of the Procurement Table.

These include micropurchases (which are purchases equal to or below $3,500), small purchases

(which are typically purchases equal to or below the agency's most restrictive small

purchase threshold), formal contracts (which are typically purchases above the agency's

most restrictive small purchase threshold), FSMC contracts, and processing contracts for USDA foods.

There is also a Comments column in the Procurement section for information the SFA would like

the CDE to know about a procurement.

Unfortunately, Vendor Paid Lists cannot be provided to the CDE in lieu of the SFA entering

procurement information in the SFA Procurement Table.

Information provided by the SFA in the SFA Procurement Table for each procurement type is detailed.

Vendor Paid Lists only provide aggregate data.

In addition, part of the review includes a cross-check by the CDE of the Vendor Paid

List against the procurements entered into the SFA Procurement Table to ensure all procurements

were included.

I will review the process for submitting the Vendor Paid List in Step 3, the next step in the process.

In Step 3, the SFA submits the required information to the CDE by the due date listed in the e-mail

notifying the SFA that they are scheduled for a procurement review.

The SFA will e-mail the required information to the e-mail address on the slide, NSDprocurementreview@cde.ca.gov.

The information the SFA is required to submit to the CDE includes the SFA's:

1. Cooperative or group purchasing agreements, if applicable

2. SFA Procurement Table

3. Vendor Paid List, or summary of expenditures, from the prior school year

4.Written code of conduct, and 5.Written procurement procedures

SFAs that need assistance with writing the code of conduct and procurement procedure

A checklist of components the SFA may want to include in these documents is included

on this Web page.

Remember, you can select the Show More tab directly below this video to access the link

to this Web page.

For SFAs unfamiliar with the term, Vendor Paid List, this is also referred to as a summary

of expenditures.

It is a report from the SFA's accounting system that identifies all vendors paid from the

nonprofit food service account and summarizes the total amount paid to each vendor for the

period of review.

The SFA must include both the name of the vendor and the total amount paid to the vendor

from the previous school year.

This slide shows an example of what the CDE needs the SFA to include in this report.

It is important to note that the Vendor Paid List provided by the SFAs should only include

vendors who were procured using funds from the nonprofit food service account to purchase

allowable goods and services.

To help SFAs determine which vendors to include and which to exclude, the CDE developed a

Vendor Paid List Instructions document, accessible on the Web page listed on this slide.

Here are a few do's and don'ts that SFAs should keep in mind before submitting the Vendor

Paid List to the CDE: Do:

• Include transactions from the previous school year

• List the cumulative amount spent per vendor, and

• Include only vendors paid in full or partially from the nonprofit food service account

Don't: • Include transactions from the current school year.

• List the amount spent per invoice

• Include vendors not paid from the nonprofit food service account, or

• Include Intergovernmental Agreements.

For example, do not include a procurement where a charter school is receiving vended

meals from a school district, as these are exempt from competitive procurement.

I just covered phase 1, steps 1-3: the pre-review phase.

Now let's cover phase 2, steps 4-6: the review phase.

In Step 4, after reviewing the contracts listed in the SFA Procurement Table, the CDE will

decide which of the SFA procurements (that is, which contracts and/or supporting documents)

they will select for a detailed review.

The CDE will select contracts based on the prioritization included on this slide.

These priorities include: • Only one response received to a solicitation

• Group purchasing/buying or third-party contracts

• Highest-priced contracts, and • Procurements that exceeded the applicable threshold.

For example, instances when the micropurchase method was used for a $4,000 procurement,

which exceeds the $3,500 micropurchase threshold.

In Step 5, the CDE will request the contract and supporting documents from the SFA based

on the procurements selected for review in Step 4.

Requested documentation for the off-site review may include the items listed on this slide:

purchase orders, receipts and invoices, solicitation documents (such as specifications, evaluation

criteria, and contract terms and conditions), bidder responses, contracts, cost/price analysis

documentation, and reconciliation of discounts, rebates, and credits.

A detailed list of the types of documentation the CDE may request are included in the Procurement

Review Instructions document, accessible in the Show More tab under this video.

As mentioned previously, the CDE will send the SFA an e-mail with detailed instructions

on how to submit these requested documents and the due dates.

In Step 6, the CDE reviews the contract(s) and supporting documents submitted by the

SFA and answers the review questions included in the Tool.

These questions address general procurement (for example the SFA's code of conduct and

procurement procedure documents), micropurchases, small purchases, formal procurements, FSMC

contracts, and USDA Foods processing contracts.

SFAs may access the list of review questions in the Tool by visiting the CDE Procurement

in Child Nutrition Programs Web page listed on this slide.

I have reviewed what to expect in phase 1, steps 1 through 3:

the pre-review phase and phase 2, steps 4 through 6, the review phase.

So what's next?

That would be phase 3, steps 7 through 9, the closing phase.

In Step 7, the CDE has completed the review and provides a report to the SFA.

If there were no findings, then the procurement review is closed.

In cases where there are findings, the CDE provides technical assistance and/or issues

corrective action.

An example of corrective action would require that the SFA revise their written code of

conduct to meet federal regulations.

More serious findings may result in the following: • The SFA is required to rebid the contract

• The CDE places a hold on the SFA's reimbursement, or

• Other appropriate action determined by the CDE

Step 8 would only occur if there were findings.

In this step, the SFA would submit issued Corrective Action Documentation, or CAD, to

the CDE for review and approval within 30 days of the CDE's issuance.

Assuming the CDE accepted the CAD, the review is closed in Step 9.

The CDE will work diligently with SFAs to complete the review on time.

However, in cases where the SFA is not responsive (for example, they do not submit the required

documentation after multiple attempts and technical assistance provided by the CDE),

the CDE may do one or more of the following: • Withhold reimbursement

• Remove the SFA from the status of Good Standing, or

• Take other appropriate action determined by the CDE

Several procurement resources to assist SFAs with following proper procurement procedures

and practices are listed on this slide.

They include: • The USDA Food and Nutrition Service School

Meals Policy Web page, which is where you can find Policy Memo SP-39-2017,

Local Agency Procurement Reviews for SFAs

• The CDE Procurement in Child Nutrition Programs Web page

• The Institute of Child Nutrition Procurement in the 21st Century Web page, and

• Title 2, CFR, Part 200, which include the majority of the federal procurement regulations.

Hey guys Robo here and in this video I am going to be discussing the character The Mechaninc

being cast for The Flash season 4 and who the character is so you guys have a better

understanding when the show comes back around this October.

Okay so in the DC Universe there's actually 3 characters with the Mechanic name, and none

of them are really memorable in anyway.

However the description for the Chacracter when looking for somebody to play the role

we get some very intresting information which I am going to read for you now.

Female, 30-40, Any Ethnicity.

An extremely intelligent engineer who will design devices for Clifford Devoe.

Basically, Devoe�s right hand.

She�ll support Devoe no matter the consequences.

This information was released a while back and within the time this news came out to

now, Kim Engelbrecht has been cast in the role and meets the description above for the

Mechanic pretty well in my opinion.

You may know her from Eye In The Sky or Dominion, if you would like to check out what she's

like as an actress definetly go watch those films.

From what I've seen I believe she will do a decent job at portraying the character well.

The Mechanic will be a recurring guest throughout the season.

There was an Earth-2 Mechanic at one point, and then another one who appeared in Paul

Cornell's Knight & Squire stories during the Batman Incorporated era.

Here, making her essentially The Tinkerer from Spider-Man: Homecoming offers a good

deal of potential.

Also an intresting fact to note is that The Mechanic will actually be a feamle in The

Flash season 4 despite the history of the character being all male.

We have also seen this done before with the character top, which we've seen a few time's

througout the show.

Personally I am a fan of seeing all these characters being changed up in the show from

the original and giving us a different interpretation of what we've seen before.

is where we will most likely see Clifford DeVoe getting his toys to control, and possibly

his very popular thinking cap.

I believe The Mechanic is the one who created this robot for The Thinker and I believe this

is where some of the weekly villains will be coming from, adding a mystery for Team

7.9. What Science Can and Can't Do - Duration: 4:43.

Science does a fantastic job of doing what it's set up to do.

Generating falsifiable hypotheses.

Testing those hypotheses.

And using the accumulation of research all over the world to be self-correcting, and advance human knowledge.

But science does have limits.

If you want to study something using the strictest application of the scientific method,

it has to meet certain criteria.

It has to be static—something that will get the same result over and over again.

It has to be objective—something you can be sure two people will define in the same way.

It has to be measurable—so that people will get the same measurements.

It has to be manipulable—so that you can test it experimentally.

And it has to be falsifable—so that other people can test it, and disprove your hypothesis, if it's incorrect.

That's a pretty daunting list of requirements.

And the fact is, not everything that's worth studying can be crammed into that framework.

That's what makes the social sciences so challenging.

We try to maintain as much rigor and empiricism in the social sciences as we can.

But much of the time, we just aren't dealing with things that are so static, objective, measurable, and manipulable.

We can't always successfully—or ethically—put people in experiments.

We deal with things that are subjective, hard to measure, constantly changing, and vary

day by day, place to place, and situation to situation.

The difference between the natural sciences and social sciences is like the difference

between trying to hit a stationary target and trying to hit a moving target.

Yes, some of the principles of good marksmanship carry over.

But not all of them do.

With a moving target, you don't have the luxury of setting up your shot.

You've got to try to catch it in the wild—with the knowledge that it could change direction on you at any moment.

And yes, we tend to get more accurate results from the natural sciences.

But we should expect that.

What natural scientists do isn't easy.

But the things social scientists study are far more elusive and hard to pin down than what natural scientists study.

The important thing to remember, though, is the social sciences have the same system of

falsifiability and self-correction as the natural sciences do.

The social sciences may not be able to be "proven" with the same reliability and permanence as the natural sciences.

But it's still the result of thousands of researchers, who've been sifting through the evidence

for over a century, weeding out what doesn't work and further developing what does.

So we really ought to trust both the natural and social sciences in their areas of inquiry.

They aren't perfect.

But they're the best we've got.

They provide the most accurate information, and the most rigorously tested explanations.

And it's entirely possible to trust science without violating whatever religion you may believe in.

Because when it comes to claims that are falsifiable, science has got the goods.

But when it comes to claims that are unfalsifiable, that's an area that, by definition, is "unscientific."

So you can totally put your faith in science to do its thing, and in religion to explain

the stuff beyond science—without being a bad scientist or a bad believer.

the per capita gdp for United States is 46 thousand dollars for China at three

thousand nine hundred twenty dollars and the average per capita gdp for

Luxembourg is 107 thousand dollars if i were to compute the average gdp per

capita for these three countries US China look symbol i will add 33 up and

we'll end up with fifty two thousand three hundred seven dollars that would

be a wrong average calculation 52 thousand dollars is rather optimistic

when it comes to an average gdp for the three countries it's more like 11,000 17

and eighty six dollars and here is the reason you see the three countries are

very different population sizes and therefore a naive aggregation would

result in the wrong inference and wrong statistics the correct way is to wait

the average per capita gdp by the population for each country the formula

for weighted mean is presented here essentially you take the population in

million multiply it with the per capita GDP

that's population multipied by per capita GDP and you get three numbers one for us one for

China and one for luxembourg and then you also sum up the populations for the

three countries and then divide this multiplied number of population times

GDP per capita that is 19 million and change and divide by 1659 and the weighted GDP

ends up being eleven thousand seven hundred and eighty six dollars one can

compute the weighted standard deviation the same way the calculations is more

involved than calculating the weighted average but fortunately SPSS another

statistical software have built-in routines to calculate both in SPSS we

essentially can use weighting cases option and weight cases by a particular

variable in our case the authors Hammermesh and Parker had used number

of students who evaluated the course as the weighting variable so you simply

select it and click on OK and that pretty much takes care of it once you

have weighted the data by a certain variable then the remaining calculations

that follow all averages standard deviations cross tabulations and

statistical models that you generate afterwards will be rated

hi guys it's me hematite harvey and welcome back to my channel if you are

new here welcome thank you guys so much for becoming a part of my family and

today I have a special video for you guys I'm actually going to be revealing

to you guys my secret Talent I don't know it's really a talent I mean

at least I think it is umm so without further ado here it is

so normally jeans is sitting in this chair but I don't know if you guys can

see it this is my violin before I take it out and try to play for you guys I'm

gonna give you some backstory um I grew up playing a violin I played for 1415

like maybe 16 years um I started when I was really really

young we actually had to play an instrument in the school that I went to

um but it also actually just copied my older nephew he played the viola so I

wanted to take up the violin throughout my whole years of playing the violin I

thought I was like so good I wanted to be cool so I took up a few different

instruments along the way like the clarinet the flute the flute I took for

a while I think I like fainted and I didn't have any air or like circle my

breath and then I play the cello feel like there was a few more instruments

that I decided to like randomly take up but my main one was the violin that was

my baby I have a violin right here on my necklace I also have a quote on the side

of my ribs life is like learning the violin in

public and learning the instrument as one goes on have a quarter the violin I

love the violin it's always something I'm gonna check

because I did love that I was in a ton of orchestras growing up and I also

played in this competition called misma I forgot what it stands for but it's

like this New York City competition and every year that I laid I think I

competed like maybe three or four times yes I always actually got really high

scores like 90s and above I want to say like even 98 79 and hundreds um so it's

always so proud of that there was all different levels and then finally my

last year I did compete on the highest level I won say there was like three

levels I'm not a hundred percent positive on how many levels or how it

went but I know I did make it to the top and I did great um so yes I competed in

my competitions I I didn't really love it at the time I was always like

stressed out and nervous but I'm so glad that you know it made my mom and dad

very proud of me to do it I was actually gonna go to college for that I got into

Columbia College Chicago from my violin so exciting unfortunately I didn't go

because I wanted to stay home and stay with my dad because he was sick at the

time um Island was my life um so I was brought up on a method called Suzuki you

had to go through like all these different levels of books at the end of

every book that you completed I think you had to like perform one or two songs

or something to get to the next level and then you had like private lessons

you had lessons with like your parent you had group lessons like it was

ridiculous I have like lessons like four times a damn week and then I have to

practice when I got home like patrolling like it was horrible one point I'm

almost positive I sat down with my just like I'm not doing anymore like I

am NOT doing it I can't yeah oh yes without further ado and enough of

my babbling I'm gonna show you my violin and maybe play it for you guys I don't

know how I'm gonna be so without further ado this is probably so out of tune but

this is my violin I have hi I never made it I never named

heard him but this is the one that I've had for quite some time because I

finally after years grew into a full-sized violin alright so now that is

rosin I'm gonna go ahead and put my chin rest stop I'm gonna go ahead and put my

chin rest on it I always always put it so wrong I think it was supposed to go

like literally straight across but Hannah over here had it always always

like crooked so yeah I never had the best posture I feel like it because as I

was getting yelled at for my posture but now I have a good posture like in

general not with a violin so let's try and tune it I am like almost positive

I'm gonna be tone deaf on this and yeah

I need you to find a a tone on your phone

alright guys so actually that's a pause that I actually have to go cut my nails

to go any farther even though this thing is probably going to be already out of

tune I have not played in years like I said in the beginning so this thing yep

already happy tune so this is definitely not going to hold on okay so this is

definitely I can hold on for much longer because the pegs are just completely

they're just completely like not old but like they haven't been used in a while

so then I stretched out so I'm gonna try to play something but quick fun fact is

that I'll have to keep my nails short um I always always always had you because

you cannot play the violin if you have long nails so I never was able to like

get tips or anything like that that started in like my college phases so

yeah

feel like this is the only song that I remember someone I keep just trying to

do it this is really not like I'm gonna perform because I probably forgot most

of the songs and this thing is attitude so it's probably gonna sound horrible

I don't know how anything goes anyway guys so that is clearly not a telling

anymore and it's also not a secret anymore

so what was this video I don't uh I just wanted to let you guys know that for

1618 I'm the numbers who's gonna keep going up I don't know how long but for a

long part of my life I play the violin um so yeah thank you guys so much for

The Sad State of Game Preservation - Duration: 13:47.

In 1927, French film maker Abel Gance released the silent film Napoleon vu par Abel Gance,

and what many consider to be his master work, with the initial release running roughly 4

hours in length.

While it spearheaded many now commonplace techniques in cinema, it eventually faded

from the public eye, only being left in the hands of those with duplicate film reels until

film historian Kevin Brownlow began to reconstruct the film before re-releasing it in 1979 with

a near 5-hour run-time.

That would increase to 5 and a half hours by the year 2000 and that has remained the

constant runtime, even upon its first home video release in 2016.

There's only one problem though.

The full movie's definitive release in May of 1927 ran at 9 hours and 22 minutes, meaning

90 years after its release, 4 hours of footage is still missing.

Tragic for film enthusiasts, isn't it?

Surely, though.

The same thing could never happen to games, could it?

Weeeeeeell not exactly.

See, back in 1995 Nintendo released the Satellaview add on for the SNES, that, for a subscription

fee, allowed players to tune into scheduled game broadcasts of original or unique titles

accompanied by a live narrator who would give you hints on where to go or what to do.

The only downside was each broadcast had about an hour runtime before you had to stop playing

and wait for the next one.

However, one of the more notorious titles to grace the platform was BS Zelda no Densetsu,

essentially a remix of the original Zelda title.

Naturally for the most hardcore of Zelda enthusiasts it's somewhat of a must-play, but there's

only one problem.

The only available ROM dump of the game came from its third week broadcast, meaning that

what we're left with is an incomplete game.

But fans aren't ones to be so easily defeated, and like Kevin Brownlow's efforts before them,

using archived footage of the last week, were able to reconstruct most of the final broadcast,

albeit without a timer and the narration.

What we're left with isn't quite what Japanese players woke up to play way back

in 95, but rather an alternative.

And you'd think we'd know better by now, but we don't.

While you can go out and digitally purchase most any film or game released in these last

few decades with no issue, that doesn't mean there still aren't pieces lost to the annals

of time.

The most egregious and short-term example in games being always online titles like MMOs.

WoW and Destiny may be up and playable today, but once those servers shut down, that's

it, those games are effectively gone forever.

And that extends further into older digital services.

Sure, digital downloads are convenient and save on disc swapping, but they're a hard

commitment to your purchase; you've essentially signed away your right of ownership.

Once a game, DRM free or not, is removed from market, if you don't have it downloaded,

it could be gone for good.

If you happen to own a PS4 with PT, should anything happen to corrupt its storage data,

it's gone forever.

And that's an effect that's only going to become more problematic as the years go

by.

One day the Wii Shop Channel and PS3's PSN store will shut down, and with them goes your

digital purchases, effectively turning your game library into an expensive digital sticker

book.

But even if you manage to get your hands on a physical copy of a game, without those networks

you're barred off from DLC and content updates that can greatly transform the experience

and even fix game breaking issues.

In extreme cases, you're essentially seeing a scenario like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

where the disc only contains the bare minimum amount of content, while the majority of the

game is downloaded via an update.

Should you buy it on console and their services ever shut down, you're effectively left

with a paperweight, but considering it's Pro Skater 5 we're talking about, whether

or not that's a good thing is up to you.

So, you have a lot of collectors and average joes concerned with the longevity of their

purchases going strictly physical when able, to at least have some sense of control and

ownership over their purchases.

However, even that isn't a guaranteed method of preserving those games.

Every CD, console, and cartridge will eventually expire, in fact it's already happening to

older consoles.

Sega Saturns have been plagued with dying optical drives for years and now those problems

are starting to affect other disc-based systems like the PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast.

So, on account of the being decades-old hardware, not only is official tech support no longer

offered, but their parts have long since been discontinued.

Meaning we have to scavenge other systems for repairs we can't do with… towels?

Otherwise we're left waiting till a 3rd party deems it worth their interest to pursue

developing replacement parts.

We still have alternatives though, after the Wii's disc drives started dying people got

creative and started modding their systems to read games off USB drives, and DS users

have been using flash carts for more elusive titles.

Their CDs on the other hand are no problem, expected to last perhaps up to 200 years if

well-kept, and even cartridge based systems and games can last decades if not a century,

but with a catch.

Chances are, if you try loading up a save of Pokémon Crystal from the Game Boy Color,

your game's save battery is dead and your save file gone with it.

Now replacing a battery in consoles and old game carts isn't a huge issue because those

parts still see plentiful use, but there is the odd exception of the Philips CDi where

the battery is built into the system's RAM chip, making it possible to permanently break

the console if you even try to replace it.

The reasoning comes from the fact that the battery is expected to last up to 25 years,

a point at which the console will no longer be in production and the company will have

already made all they can off the system.

But as other consoles like the Dreamcast and Xbox begin to decay, the more people will

fight for their parts, and there will be a massive surge in their resale value, working

or not.

But even if we can't preserve the consoles we can still keep the games because they're

the ultimate end goal of our purchase and that's where things get to be a bit more

complicated.

If the game in question is already on a discontinued system and hasn't seen a port in over 20

years, that means there's a very high price for the product in question.

And since reprinting tends to die along with the console a game is on, that means there

will only ever be less and less copies in circulation and higher and higher costs.

So once games like Panzer Dragoon Saga reach a price too large to be acceptable to the

average game enthusiast, the act of playing said games starts to stop being a hobby and

more of a luxury.

An issue that's only compounded upon if that applies to Nintendo games that use amiibo.

What that means for a lot of people is most games are essentially barred off from being

playable until they inevitably see a re-release via remasters, remakes, or simple digital

ports.

Not only does it offer convenience on not having to plug in multiple consoles to enjoy

all your games, but it means costs can be controlled and set at more reasonable consumer

friendly prices, and that even influences the value of physical goods.

I remember Final Fantasy VII running for well over $150 on eBay back in high school, but

with its $10 re-release on PS3 alongside its PC and PS4 release you can now buy the PS1

original for dirt cheap.

But even if prices don't drop, spending $5 on a digital copy of Shantae is better

than the $400 physical alternative.

However, a new problem facing consumers now is that these digital purchases have reached

a point on Nintendo and Sony platforms where they're no longer being carried forward.

If you wanna play FF7 on your PS4 and already own it on PS3 or physical then tough luck,

you're going to have to buy it all over again.

The tech is there, but Sony's made it clear that they don't want to shell out the money

to develop backwards compatibility and part of that reasoning stems from the financial

burden that was the PS3 through most of its lifespan.

Instead they're re-releasing classics like Parappa and Shadow of the Colossus via HD

remakes while PS2 games are being re-released in full HD with trophy support to set them

apart from previous iterations.

It's operating under the guise of a better more complete package; yet, at the end of

the day you're buying the same game again, but that doesn't mean you're getting the

same experience.

And that extends further into their PS Now service where players can rent PS3 games across

multiple devices for a hefty subscription fee.

But there the problem lies in the fact that you're playing games not only on that weaker

hardware being streamed at a fluctuating bit rate leading to compressed visuals, and there'll

always be latency issues between what you're seeing and what you're playing as a result

of streaming in itself, which only hampers the experience of anything that isn't-turn

based.

Meaning it's just another method of getting you to pay for what you already own.

For most that's simply "good enough" despite "good enough" being a defeatist

acknowledgment that we're fine being fed shlock so long as it looks pretty.

Parappa and Crash are notorious for their changes by now, both mechanically, and visually,

and even if they're improved in some spaces and worse in others, you always have the original

to turn to.

The problem is that that's not financially beneficial for business, so even if the next

console is so homogenized in its structure that it's natively backwards compatible

with the last gen, companies will just flip a switch that says no so they can continue

building consoles meant to erase history so they can back you into a corner where they

can repackage it and sell it to you all over again while marketing it as the 'definitive,

must have version', even if it isn't.

While those games are certainly products of their times, they're also a product of the

mentalities and influences on the developers themselves.

But the original staffers aren't always guaranteed to work on those enhanced versions,

and the more you reiterate upon an idea, the more you start making concessions and lose

sight of what the original represented, and that can have a major impact on how your game

is consumed and digested.

It's odd that the only company offering that consumer goodwill is Microsoft with the

Xbox One's 360 backwards compatibility, soon to be extended back to the original Xbox.

But what makes it strange is it shows 2 very real points that make this issue so heated.

The first is the previously mentioned experience.

While lasting value is certainly an issue, I think what we're more concerned with is

making sure an experience so dearly love is preserved or improved upon where able so we

can share it with others.

The second issue is that, for most people, not every game is worth preserving, and that's

not exactly a wrong opinion to have.

Most Steam Greenlight games are better off in the trash, but you'd be damned for suggesting

Suikoden II be lost to time itself.

So, with both these mentalities we often conclude that only one version of a game can prevail

while the rest must be forgotten.

After all, history is a very fickle thing where we decide what is and what isn't worth

preserving.

While there might be over a dozen Titanic films, we only remember the one because we

consider it definitive to our culture.

The others might be a fun romp, but ultimately, they're throwaway, and that's the exact

mentality most companies carry with them, game or not.

To them they're just as much worth as the box your shoes came in, bought to be dazzled

at and thrown away 5 seconds later, but at least there I get to keep the shoes, which

in this case would be "the experience", but what most don't realize is the shoe

box's equivalent is the fucking box the game came in!

Truth be told, and I'm sure most sane people already know this, if the consumer isn't

making companies as much money as possible, they don't matter, nor do the goods they

own, even if they're a large part of their history.

It's a shame because digital preservation is possibly the best solution to physically

degrading goods, but again, it comes at the cost of your right to ownership.

So, if a company wanted they could shut down their digital service, make you lose access

to everything you own, and post a slightly enhanced version up for sale on their new

device and that's where ownership becomes an issue, because no one wants to buy Urban

Champion every time they get a new Nintendo console.

Luckily, we have consoles like the Retron 5 dedicated to playing classic games so we

can still get value out of our physical games, and for less available titles we also have

emulation, and yes, both are surprisingly legal, but emulation isn't a guarantee either.

Emulators are more or less following guidelines that brute force games into playable states.

As a result, you have imperfections in some titles that the devs can work on fixing in

the next update, but the issue is surprisingly samey.

Dolphin is a very prolific emulator that plays Wii and Gamecube games.

However, in the mid 2000s Nintendo, in a joint partnership with Namco and Sega, released

a series of arcade machines running on a system highly comparable to Gamecube hardware.

These arcade games, running on a system called the "Triforce" board cannot be emulated by

Dolphin without resorting to dedicated builds, and even then, they haven't been updated in

over 3 years.

But at that point, why are people so upset about preservation and why should developers

concern themselves with it.

Well, it's clear to say not everyone is aware of emulation, only knowing what they

see on TV and the eShop, and plenty of others want to support the developers and series

they love, but to put it simply, it's the attitude companies often have towards their

own IP.

What we love, to them, is often meaningless.

Sure, we can't always get what we want in the form of sequels, but we can still enjoy

what we do have because it might be all we ever get, even if the devs themselves want

to see more of said franchise.

Thankfully we have places like GOG where classic games are kept up-to-date for the latest operating

systems and because they're DRM free they'll still be viable 2 decades from now, but we

also have Capcom who want to make sure you have Street Fighter 2 no matter what, but

on console it's ultimately up to the big three on whether or not we can get continued

use out of it, and for all except Microsoft, instilling consumer good will isn't as viable

as instilling anti-consumer spending habits, especially when your console is doing so well

you can get away with it.

But alas, this is the world we live in.

Forced to buy, consume, and lose in a never-ending cycle, never truly owning what's ours.

Gooooooooood dammit.

it really helps them, it gives genuine results.

They have a constant queue of people

wanting to do business with them.

Their marketing is incredible.

Just a real world class company.

And it's such a world class company

and been recognised as such

that now they actually train other physios around the world,

specifically in America,

how to achieve similar results to them.

And they have many fantastic core values

and core principles,

but one of their main core values that they have

is person first, patient second.

So what would happen is

let's say somebody rings up and they say,

"Hey, I've got a bad back.

"Can you help?"

Every other physiotherapist in the country,

in the world, is gonna say,

"Okay, tell me about your bad back.

"How long have you had it?

"What caused it?

"What type of pain have you got?

"Whereabouts in your back is it?"

They're all gonna focus on the actual problem

and the thing that they're trained in how to help, right?

Paul Gough Physio rooms have a very different approach.

The reason why I know their approach so well

is because Paul is a very great friend of mine,

and their approach is very different.

So let's say you ring them up and you say,

"Hey, I've got a bad back."

They'll say, "Brilliant,"

well not brilliant but, "We'll talk about that in a second,

"but first tell me what that bad back

"is preventing you from doing.

"What were you able to do before that you can't do now?

"What would you like to be doing

"that this is stopping you from doing?"

And the conversation might go something like,

"Well, I used to take my grandkids to the park

"and I used to play with them in the park."

"Okay, is there anything else

"it's preventing you from doing?"

"Yeah well, I used to do my gardening.

"I love doing gardening, but now I can't bend down as easy

"so I have to get a gardener in."

"Okay, anything else?"

And so they would understand

really what the problem is for the person

not for the actual patient.

So, once they get to grips with that

then what they can say to that person is,

"Okay, so if we can help you

"to play with your grandkids in the park again,

"if we can help you to get back in the garden

"and sort your garden out,

"then how is that sounding?

"Is that what you're looking for?

"Brilliant, now tell me about the pain.

"Tell me about your back.

"How long have you had it?

"Where is the pain?

"How acute is it?" etc., etc., and they go into that.

There's very few of the physios

that would ever have that conversation,

because one of the issues they have

is they're cursed with knowledge

of what they can actually do,

of the pain, of the body, of muscles etc.,

and so they tend to focus on that.

But the reality is the person doesn't care about that,

and it's the same with accountancy firms.

So what happens is somebody might contact your firm.

They might have called you out of pain

because they've had an unexpected fine

or because their previous accountant has dropped the ball,

and you would typically get into a conversation around that.

Or they might come to you and be talking to you about

a specific challenge they've got in their business,

or the fact they're looking for tax savings, or whatever.

And very often because you're an accountant

you get into conversations about the specifics,

about the details that you can provide them with,

about the software that they're using,

about balance sheets and profit and loss

and all that type of stuff.

The reality is your clients don't really care about that.

What they care about is their business goals

and what they're trying to achieve,

and it's very rare that an accountancy firm

would actually say,

"Okay, we'll come onto the specifics in a bit,

"but just tell me about your business.

"What are you trying to achieve with your business?

"What are you trying to take it to?

"What's your revenue now?

"What's your goal with it?

"Are you trying to exit your business?" etc., etc.

Very few accountancy firms

would ever have that conversation,

but there's even fewer

that would go the extra step and say,

"Okay, we'll come onto your business in a second.

"What are you trying to achieve in your life?

"Because at the end of the day

"this business is a vehicle

"to give you the life that you want.

"What are you trying to achieve in your life?"

And it's then, it's at that point,

that you start to deal with the person first

and the client second,

which is our core value at My Accountancy Place.

And that's when you'll open up the conversation

to a very different thing.

It's when you find out that that person

wants to buy a house in another country,

or that they want their child to have

a better level of education,

or they want their wife to leave work,

or they want to retire at a certain age,

or they want to sell the business for X amount,

it's at that point

when you'll start to have real conversations.

And once you understand that

it's at that point where you can say,

"Okay, so if that's what you want in your life,

"then we can help your business to achieve these goals here

"to ultimately give you that life that you want.

"Therefore, these are the services that you're gonna need

"if we're gonna help you, your business,

"to achieve those goals.

"How does that sound?"

It's a very different level of conversation,

and it's actually what your clients want,

and it's very rare that an accountancy firm

is having those conversations.

Yes, they might go into the business goals,

but very rarely will they actually move into

what the person's goals are.

And it's because, again, you're cursed with knowledge.

You understand all of the services that you provide,

and very often those services, especially for a client ...

I'm a business owner myself.

Those services are very complicated to me,

all the different nuances of what you can provide,

and this and that is very, very complicated.

And for me as a business owner it's very simple.

I'm trying to achieve these certain business goals

so that I can achieve this in my life,

and there the conversation

is where you deal with the person first

and the client second

where you're gonna have the greatest wins,

where you can have the greatest impacts,

where your client is gonna see the full value

of what you can provide,

where they're gonna potentially buy more services from you

so they can overcome their obstacles

and achieve their goals faster,

where you can develop lifelong relationships with them

so you're gonna improve your retention rate,

where they're gonna sign up quicker,

where you're gonna give more value,

where you're gonna have more fun.

This is where the party is.

This is what it's all about.

Start talking to them as a person first and a client second.

practice self-love okay you talk to yourself as if you are sleeping with

your perfect soul mate you are your soul mate and so

you're going to have pillow talk with yourself as if you are your perfect

What Happens To Your Body When You Drink Water On An Empty Stomach

It seems that there are ways to go about taking care of your health that aren�t really all

that well known�.Even in today�s age of computers. I definitely had no idea about

Japanese Water Therapy until stumbling upon this article the other day. It seems like

it might just help with my constant migraines. It�s worth looking into, at the very least,

so here�s some more information that you can use to try it out for yourself. As always,

check with your doctor before doing so.

What is Japanese Water Therapy?

A traditional practice that has been followed for years and years, it has been said that

water therapy can help with a whole slew of illnesses. From asthma to bronchitis, arthritis,

epilepsy, constipation, urinary issues, throat and nose ailments, and even possibly cancer.

Women can even follow this regimen to relieve themselves of menstrual symptoms and uterine

issues.

Here�s how you go about it:

Every morning, before you brush your teeth, drink 640ml of water. This is about 4 glasses

of 160ml which is a typical glass size. The water should be purified and free of all chemicals

and minerals.

Brush your teeth normally, and then abstain from eating or drinking anything else for

45 minutes.

Eat your breakfast.

Don�t eat again for 2 hours.

Ideally, you�d want to have your water be luke-warm or room temp. Japan doesn�t typically

drink cold water, instead they drink warm tea with most of their meals. Cold water can

lead to stomach cramps, thus negating the practice.

How often should one go about it?

The practice is best to follow on a regular basis. This pretty much means every day, but

there are certain time frames to follow according to certain ailments. Here�s a short list

of how long you can expect to follow the regime for selected issues:

High blood pressure � 30 days

Gastritis � 10 days

Diabetes � 30 days

Constipation � 10 days

Cancer � 180 days

People who suffer from arthritis should do the therapy for only three days in their first

week, and then progress to a daily treatment.

If it is difficult to start out with so much water, start with a smaller amount and work

up to drinking all four glasses. Once your body adjusts to being hydrated that early

in the morning, you might find yourself craving more water as you go along.

How does this compare to other traditional water therapies?

I had no idea that India also has a water therapy regime to follow, but it tasks you

with drinking 1.5 liters of water on an empty stomach, which isn�t exactly what you should

be doing that early. Called Usha Paana Chikitsa, it will push your kidneys beyond what they

should be handling. Only capable of processing up to 1,000ml of water an hour, downing a

liter and a half before brushing your teeth will put them far beyond capacity.

If you�re drinking too much water at any time, a condition called hyponatremia can

rear its ugly head. Essentially, your sodium levels are getting too diluted in your blood,

causing blood pressure to drop. Sometimes attributed to other medical conditions, it

pops up when people flood their system with too much water at once. Your cells start to

expand, and take up more room in your circulatory system. Which is normally just cool those

blood cells, but not for brain cells. So, oops, coma and death can occur as a result.

Moral is, drink your water slowly and not all at once.

That�s what makes the Japanese way of going about empty stomach water therapy is a better

approach. It has no known side effects, and appears to add only healthy benefits to your

life. Japan does have some of the oldest people in the world, so it�s worth taking note

and trying it out for yourself!

Linda Sarsour worked with a friend as she organized the Women's March against President

Trump in January.

It turns out that friend lied to Immigration & Customs Enforcement agents.

Rasmieh Yousef Odeh (also spelled Rasmea) has been stripped of her US citizenship and

permanently banned from our country.

She came to the public's attention when she spoke against Trump at the Women's March,

as reported by The Daily Caller.

Odeh intentionally falsified her application for citizenship by stating she had never been

arrested, convicted of a crime, or served jail time.

Odeh openly admitted to this falsehood in a plea agreement.

It had come as a shock to the conservative world that the leftists at the Women's March

were listening to Rasmieh Odeh speak.

The Blaze was among the many outlets that pointed out that Odeh had been convicted of

terrorism in Israel.

Odeh was born in the Palestinian-held territories and participated in two terrorist bombings

conducted in Israel.

One of these bombing sites was a grocery store and resulted in the deaths of two young students.

The other bombing Odeh helped plan and execute was of a British consulate.

Israel convicted her for these crimes in 1970, and she served ten years in jail there.

Linda Sarsour played on the ignorance of her followers who attended the Women's March,

by claiming Odeh had been a victim of Israeli torture while in prison in Palestine.

Sarsour, an anti-Israel Palestinian activist, never mentioned why Odeh was jailed.

Later, once public attention focused on Odeh and how she became an American citizen, Sarsour

attempted to defend her, and retweeted a piece published by The Huffington Post.

There, activist Marc Lamont Hill argued Odeh had never helped plan or commit the terrorist

strikes, but she had admitted to them under torture by Israeli agents.

The piece was entitled "Why Every Black Activist Should Stand with Rasmea Odeh."

The argument was a poor one, stating, "No one is free until everyone is free."

Essentially, Odeh's rightful time in prison was ideologically twisted into some kind of

unjust punishment, all done at the hands of Israel, which these leftists now believe shouldn't

be held against her.

Hill argued that Israel is conducting a "brutal" occupation of Palestine, so a "peaceful"

Palestinian state should be supported.

Many fail to see what is peaceful about committing terrorists attacks resulting in the deaths

of two innocents.

Odeh did commit those crimes which have nothing to do with peace.

Now this brutal terrorist, who sought to undermine our rightful president at the Women's March,

will be deported from the United States.

She will no longer be able to hide from her terrorist past, take advantage of the ignorance

of our youth, or work against the values this nation holds dear.

HSI Detroit special agent Steve Francis said Odeh's case, "should serve as an unequivocal

message that the US will never be a haven for those seeking to distance themselves from

their past atrocities."

The results of Odeh's case should help open leftist eyes to exactly what kind of person

Linda Sarsour is, in light of her support of this convicted terrorist.
