BMW G 310 GS | Everyday Adventures: How-to start adventure riding - Duration: 5:10.
Adventure. It's all about riding to new places, seeing new sights and meeting new people. But not all of these things can be reached on a tarmacked road. Sometimes you got to hit the dirt.
So, I'm going to give you five tips to take your off-road riding to a new level and you can get adventures in all of the places you want.
Ok, the first tip is the standing position. Whenever you see people riding off-road, it's the most obvious difference to road riding.
You stood up on the footpegs, head up, eyes looking forward.
The best thing about this: firstly, your legs. They are fantastic suspension units.
When you're hitting bumps off-road, you can absorb the impacts and let the bike move around beneath you.
And the final most important part that I'm gonna talk about with standing is the footpegs. All of your steering off-road comes through the footpegs.
So, you gonna work those pegs and that's gonna control the bike.
You want the footpegs to be exactly in the arch of your foot. That way you have control and access.
Probably the most important part of not just off-road riding, but road riding and any sport is vision.
It's a simple thing: where your eyes go, you go. If you're looking up the trail and looking round the corner, you'll make the turn.
If you get into the corner and have a good old look at that berm on the outside, guess what … that's where you're going.
But it's not just in turns. When you're hitting a straight road and there is bits of lumps of gravel in the floor, keep your eyes on the distance.
As soon as your eyes drop focused to the thing in front of your front wheel, all you know is what color the thing you gonna hit is.
So keep your eyes ahead and look away you're want to be, and not on what you want to miss.
Ok, next we're gonna talk about my favorite control on the motorcycle. Not the throttle as you might expect, but it's the clutch.
The clutch lever here is where all your control comes from. And you know what, it's a "you get out of jail free card".
You're going ride down a slippery trail, maybe get caught up in a tyre rut from a 4x4, the bike comes round sideways, you tear that clutch in, drive is gone and the bike is back under control.
And that's gonna save you so much trouble when you're on slippery and technical situations.
And the other point with the clutch is, as your riding gets better, that's where your power slides come from, that's where your little wheel lifts to get over holes in the ground comes from, that's where all the entertaining stuff comes from.
So spend time, work on your clutch skills and always always always cover that clutch lever when you're riding.
So when your knuckles are tight on the hand grip of the bike, there is no way in a million years you're gonna prise these fingers out to get the clutch control.
So always always always rest it on the clutch and then you can tear that drive straight away when you need to.
Ok, we touched on it a little bit in the standing position. But steering the motorcycle off-road is one of your biggest differences to riding onroad.
Onroad everything comes through the handlebars. Push the handlebar into a turn to counter steer the bike, it tips in. Offroad it's all through those footpegs.
If you're go wrestling the handlebars, that's where those horrible front end slides that you feel in the gut of your stomach, that's where that comes from. So, light as we can on the bars and all of our steering through our feet.
Push the right footpeg, the bike goes right. Push the left footpeg, the bikes goes left.
It's as simple as that. While we're steering it, we want our body weight up above the bike. Until we're motocross world champions, we really don't need to be leaning into so much with our shoulder.
Push the footpeg to steer the bike, turn your head and the bike comes around and we keep nice and balanced up above it.
Ok, then… braking is one of those areas that people are sometimes a little bit scared of off-road.
It's always that fear that you gonna touch that front brake, the tyre is gonna lock and then you gonna go.
So, rather than shying away from it, spend some time getting used to it.
You can't be aggressive with the levers – either the footbrake or the handbrake. You can't jab at them. You've got to do everything really really smoothly – as if you're riding with glass of water on your tank and you don't want to spill it.
So when you're apply the brakes, the initial application is very soft – just letting the weight of the bike transfer forward.
Once the weight is on that front tyre, then you can really stop pulling the lever and feel in for the grip.
And these bikes have got ABS these days, so you're pretty well covered. But if the tyre does lock, trust me, your inbuilt ABS works. Trust yourself, get off the brakes and the bike will straight 'em back out.
But most importantly, don't shy away from using the brakes off-road. Find yourself a nice area, practice and get familiar with being smooth on the controls.
So there we have it. Five tips to improve your riding off-road. The most important one that I'm gonna give you at the end here though is: practice. Practice, practice, practice. And then practice some more.
Don't feel like you've got to be going full tilt first time. Give yourself time to acquire the skills and get comfortable off-road and it will become the most enjoyable part of your riding.
There is only a very small percentage of roads that have tarmac. So getting comfortable on dirt will open up a whole new world to you and take your adventures to places you'd never dreamed.
Best of all: get some training from a proofed BMW training center and spend your time really wisely improving those riding techniques.

BMW G 310 GS | Everyday Adventures: How-to pack your bike - Duration: 1:23.
Hi, I'm Michael. I'm just here to give you some tips on fitting your motorcycle with luggage for an Everyday Adventure.
What we have here is the BMW rucksack. It's easy and light and accessible to put on your back. When you get off a motorcycle it's easy to carry around, so you got your stuff on site and not fixed on the motorcycle.
Please do not pack the backpack too heavy. It may be a bit heavy on your pack and heavy on the spine on a longer trip.
What we have here today is the BMW tank bag. It's nice and light. It's easy and accessible for all your lightweight things like your camera, your cellphone and all the accessible things on a motorcycle.
When fitting your motorcycle's tank bag, please make sure you've got it nice and secure so it doesn't move around when riding on a motorcycle.
Also make sure that you've got your line of sight to the instrument cluster and there is no obstructions when riding on a motorcycle.
What we have next is the BMW luggage roll. It is 50 liters in capacity. The bag is water-proof. Make sure when packing your luggage roll to pack the weight evenly across the bag, so it doesn't affect the dynamics of the motorcycle.
If you want any more information about the soft luggage, you're welcome to visit your closed dealer or go onto the local website.

Lift it LIVE EP 010: Know Your Shocks - Duration: 29:16.
(rock and roll music)
- [Junior] Kay, let's rock and roll
with this week's topic.
So we've had some people asking questions about shocks.
- Speak up.
- Yeah, you know they can't hear you
when you do that, right?
- [Junior] We've had some people
asking questions lately about shocks
on social media. - You're directing your voice
too much.
- [Junior] Oh, it's too much?
- Yes.
- [Junior] Okay, like this, is this better?
- Yes.
- A little wider.
- [Junior] Good? - There you go.
- [Junior] Okay.
Have some people asking questions about shocks
on social media and YouTube and everything like that,
so we thought we'd talk about them,
recommended sizes, different brands,
what they have to offer
depending on lift kit size and leveling kit size,
what size shocks you should go with.
- Just buy Fox shocks.
- So we're gonna be talking
about shocks. - Video's done is
what you're saying.
- [Junior] We're talking about shocks.
- Oh, shocking.
- Woah.
- [Junior] Oh, good pun.
- Ba-dum-ch.
- Well, that was a short video.
(burps loudly) Everybody should just go buy
Fox shocks.
- No, that's not true.
What if they don't make Fox shocks
in the length that you need?
- I'd contact them directly,
and they'll custom build them for you.
- What if you don't wanna pay for that then?
- Well then, you're a cheap ass,
and you shouldn't be changing your shocks.
- (blows raspberry) Says you.
- Hah.
- [Junior] So let's start with on a stock truck.
- On a stock truck?
- Yup.
- What about it?
- [Junior] Should you upgrade your shocks?
- Yes, you should upgrade everything on your stock vehicle.
- [Junior] To?
- Anything that's not stock.
- The King coilovers.
- Yeah, King coilovers.
Long travel.
- [Junior] Okay, seriously though,
on a leveling kit, if you're putting a,
what should we say?
Torsion bar truck? - It doesn't matter.
- [Junior] Doesn't matter?
- Yes it does.
- Okay, I guess a lot of people don't think about this.
And they go, and they get a leveling kit.
And they raise the truck up in the front
usually about-- - Torsion bar trucks.
- Two inches.
- Torsion bar trucks.
- Why does it matter if I say that?
- It's only on torsion bar trucks.
Strut trucks, you're not gonna change your shocks
in the front.
- What if it's got a spread out front?
Coil spring and shock.
(whispers)
- All right yeah, say that.
- Okay, we're gonna use as an example
is like a torsion bar Chevy truck
that we're referring to here.
You go ahead and get your leveling keys.
You crank those bad boys up.
You lift the front of the truck up
about two, two and a half inches, whatever that may be.
And then most people don't even think about the shocks,
and a lot of times, the problem is
that the factory shocks are too short
that they don't have travel or enough extended length,
basically, to work properly
with the raised, planned height of the truck.
What does that cause?
Well it can either cause you to overextend your shocks
when the suspension is compressing and rebounding.
It'll actually kind of pull the shock apart,
and it'll just destroy the shocks.
- 'Cause you ride 'em. - They can ride like shit.
Or you can potentially bottom out the shocks as well,
which will just destroy them.
A lot of the times, some of the higher end leveling kits
will actually come with spacers for the stock shocks,
so it'll actually space the shocks down.
So it gives you enough travel to work with the leveling kit.
Otherwise, some leveling kits even come
with complete set of replacement shocks,
and they include front shocks that are the proper length.
But yeah, that's just always something to keep in mind.
Like Banker was saying before, if it's a leveling kit
on a truck with a front strut,
so most of the modern IFS trucks, Chevy, Ford, Dodge,
the leveling kits are just gonna be a spacer
on the top or the bottom of the strut,
so you don't have to worry about getting a new front strut
because you just, essentially, bring a spacer below
or on top of your strut.
- But you know how to fucking travel.
- Yeah, you're not gonna be messing with the travel
if you do that strut 'cause you don't really have
to worry about it then.
It's the same thing for the rear.
If you wanna go and say some people will level the front
of their truck, and then they kinda wanna
bring the rear end back up a little bit.
So they'll put some blocks in the back
or something like that.
Then you also then gotta consider getting longer shocks
'cause if you're gonna lift the back of the truck,
you're going to basically change the effective area
of the shock absorber.
So you need to remember that.
- Same with straight action trucks.
- Yup.
- Whether it be a loose string or recoil string
in the front.
If you're gonna add a block in there,
you're stretching out your vector shock.
- Yup, so like guys with the Super Duties
or Cummins or whatever are pretty cool.
Sometimes Dodge, it's not actually a truck facility.
Yeah, when you do love and care,
I know it's the same thing, but usually it's just a spacer
under the spring.
And that's not anything to worry you about probably.
Either a longer shocks or some kind of extensions.
Next question.
- [Junior] We have this specific question on YouTube.
Can you use stock shocks on a six inch lift?
- No.
- [Junior] Why?
- They're too short.
- There's one lift kit
that you actually use the rear shocks,
the stock shocks, Tahoes.
- Yeah.
- I believe the Avalanche too, correct?
- [Junior] McGaughys on mine stand shock extensions.
- Wow, what a dirty lift kit.
(laughs)
- [Junior] They all do that.
- I know.
The angle. - Crisscross.
- Okay you cannot use a factory shock
if it doesn't come with some kind of a provision
to correct it.
So like what we're talking about is some lift kits
actually like on Tahoe, Suburbans, Avalanches.
In the rear, they'll actually use an extension piece,
so you'll actually bolt those extensions on
and then bolt your factory shock to it,
which is appropriate.
- A rear coil spring is set up.
- [Junior] Is it the same like that for the newer Dodge
that's coil sprung in the rear too?
- No, they don't do that.
- Nope.
- They will just have a completely different--
they do it on most trucks because, well first of all,
I think a lot of them, or some of them,
are like the MagneRide trucks,
and then also I think it's because...
I think it has to do
with where the shocks mount.
And once you lift it, I think that they get
in the way. - It's smashing the axle.
- Yeah because you have the track bar in the back
and everything like that,
so they use that extension piece 'cause, otherwise,
a much longer type wouldn't clear.
I don't think. (coughs)
And using the factory mount.
Yeah, they do extensions and stuff like that,
you cannot just use this factory length shock
on a six inch lift.
You wouldn't even be able to install the shock
'cause it'll be too short.
It's extended length; you won't even be able to install it.
If you were to somehow compress the suspension
and install it, (laughs)
it would hold the suspension compressed,
but then you'd be driving down the road
and then probably a, give away in those.
It's like, "Boing!"
- It would definitely snap.
- And you'd have a failure.
- [Junior] Let's give something away,
but first Darryl's wondering about the firefighter shirts.
We are almost halfway done with them, Darryl,
in our first four days of the promotion.
- Darryl, I'm wearing one.
It's pretty dope.
- [Junior] B-rad's got one on,
modeling it right now.
- It's chill - [Junior] The XF Offroad
firefighter giveaway shirts, halfway gone.
Brad, you wanna?
Yeah, there we go.
- Can you turn around? - Wanna know what else is on?
- Do your spin.
(wolf whistles)
- Yah.
- [Junior] Three XL, four XL,
and five XL-- - Sold it out.
- [Junior] Are sold out. - Oh, okay, I was gonna say.
Yeah, this is a three XL.
I stole all of them, so sorry.
- Good luck.
- I'll sell you this one.
- [Junior] Give away a t-shirt and stick--
- No, we're not giving away shit.
I haven't come up with the keyword yet.
- Yeah, how are you gonna giveaway?
- So tonight's keyword is firefighter.
- [Junior] Okay, keep 'er movin'.
- Keep 'er movin'.
- [Junior] You guys each got a shock in your hands.
One is a Rough Country and one is a Fox shock.
- Can't tell.
- Can't call it.
- [Junior] Okay, what are the differences?
- Look, they're the same.
- [Junior] Are they the exact same, then,
if you take away the sticker?
- [Banker And Brad] Yes.
- Well in Bankers' mind, all it is is the sticker.
So if you put the sticker on this one,
it becomes a Fox shock.
No, there's lots of differences.
You can't judge a book by its cover
is a perfect expression here because just because
of what a shock looks like on the outside has nothing
to do with how the shock performs
because the heart of a shock is all inside,
which you can't see.
- But books say what they are on the outside,
like what they're about.
- It's an expression, okay?
You're overthinking it.
Moving on, so, yes, they're definitely not the same
because all the components that make a shock
what it is are enclosed inside of it.
Yes, they both might be silver, steel-bodied shocks,
but if you were to put a set of these
and a set of those, there'd be a huge difference
in terms of the ride quality because there's
so many differences involving just even the materials
that the shocks made out of, the piston.
A lot of it also has to do with how the shock is valved,
is what it's called.
It's basically how fast or slow fluid is allowed
to pass by the piston, et cetera,
which gives you your depth.
But anyway, so yeah, there's a lot of differences
that you can't judge it just based on looks.
- [Junior] Why is Banker holding his upside down
compared to yours?
- This is the right way.
- [Junior] Right, why?
- It's not upside down.
- [Junior] Explain.
- Certain shocks, it all depends on manufacture.
It doesn't say on this one.
Might have to mount certain ways.
Traditionally, it's usually the bottom of the body down,
body of the shock is towards the bottom.
Where higher torrent shocks usually not always.
You can mount either way or--
- Body up for performance, body down for strength
That's straight from Fox.
- Oh really?
- Yup.
- I didn't know that.
- [Junior] Could y'all explain the difference
for people between smooth body and reservoir?
- Oh, we don't have a reservoir shock.
- Yeah, basically, this is obviously the smooth body shock,
not a reservoir shock.
A reservoir shock is basically the same thing,
except it literally has an external reservoir.
Why are you looking at me like that?
- I just wanna see how you explain it.
- Literally has an external reservoir
which is added capacity for fluid and gas, is all it is.
It's just increasing the capacity of the hydraulic fluid
or the nitrogen and gas in the shock,
that's simply all it is.
And the point of that is
why you would want an external reservoir is
for performance applications.
The thing that destroys a shock is heat, obviously.
- There's your keyword.
- Yeah, so what you're trying to achieve is, basically,
allow more cooling.
If you have more fluid or more volume of fluid,
it's gonna be harder to heat up more fluid
than lesser fluid.
That's the whole point, really, is
if there's gonna be more of it,
it'll be stable longer, and it won't overheat
and fade as fast if you have a lesser volume.
- [Junior] So do people who regularly
just ride their truck on the highway need a reservoir?
- No.
- Yup.
- No, I would definitely say--
- Have you driven on the highways around here?
- Yeah, right.
If you live in Wisconsin,
the highways are really not highways.
It's mostly dirt road with patches of gravel.
So yes.
- Washboard it.
- [Junior] So there's really
hardly a difference between reservoir and smooth body?
- What?
- [Junior] There's no grounding difference on hardware
between reservoirs and smooth bodies.
- There is if it's the same truck.
If it's a Fox 2.0 smooth body.
Yours is a Fox 2.0 resi.
It's the same shock, same valving.
Everything's simply at extra capacity,
so it will ride the same.
And they look cool.
That's why a lot of people run 'em.
It's 'cause they're like, "Oh, I got this cool thing
hanging off my shock with graded stainless line.
That's cool."
No, typically, everyday driver on road,
there's no advantage or no reason to have that,
but in case you might do it.
- Jared, I wanna give away a t-shirt.
- [Jared] Oh okay, let's give away a t-shirt, Banker.
- Okay, first person to comment the keyword
that we see because we know our computer's kinda slow.
- So is the guy operating it.
- Hah.
He has red hair.
- He has no soul.
Gonna deny it.
- [Junior] Micheal J. Myers said, "Firefighter."
- Hey.
- Mike Myers?
- Mike Myers.
- I thought he was dead.
- Here's your t-shirt, bro.
- I've seen Halloween.
(rock music)
- [Junior] Micheal J. Myers, all right.
- Wanna do some questions or what?
- [Junior] Oh, yeah.
He gets a sticker too.
- Oh, and a sticker?
Woah!
3D if you've got your 3D glasses on
that's gonna be awesome.
- Next week, you'll see this in IMAX.
(laughs softly)
- Eastside is wondering what wheel types to set up
for an aggressive stance on a 14 Mega Cab
with a five inch Rough Country lift
and Bushwacker flares.
- Mega Cab what?
A 1500?
- It's a Mega Cab Dodge 2500.
- How do you know?
- [Men] It's the only Mega Cab.
- It's the only Mega Cab they make.
- Oh really?
- [Junior] Yeah, 3500, at least.
- No, you can get a half ton Mega Cab,
and it's like a 3/4 ton suspension.
- Okay.
- [Junior] What's the most aggressive--
- No, I guess it's the same thing, then.
- Yeah.
- [Junior] Aggressive setup
for him on his HD Dodge five inch Rough Country lift
with Bushwacker flares.
- 14 wides.
- [Junior] In what?
Clean on 35s?
- On a five inch? - Which?
Lower?
- [Junior] 14.
(mumbles)
- I like 35.
- [Junior] 35.
- It'd probably be a metric tire under a 35, honestly.
'Cause do they make anything
that's not gonna be super stretch,
probably not.
- On a 14 wide?
You saw that.
- On what?
- ZR2.
- It was a 36 and a half.
- Oh.
I don't know, I don't think so.
- [Junior] A 360 is roundin' it up?
- Yeah, 355, what does that come out to?
- [Junior] It's 33.5
up to 14.
- That's too small.
- It's just a little stretched.
- [Junior] It's not perfect.
- I meant diameter is small.
- Why?
- 'Cause it's 35.
- Oh, yeah.
- [Junior] He's just wondering what's a (mumble)
that he can run.
- With the fender flares, you're gonna have to run 14 wides.
It's not gonna look aggressive at all.
That's what it comes down to.
You can run 12 wides in 35s all day.
Just, not gonna look cool.
It's gonna look cool but not as cool as it can be.
- I think it'll look cool.
I like the nine wides.
- [Junior] Chris King's wondering on lift kits
such as any four inch or six inch,
they usually provide the drop bracket for the diff.
Rough Country's three inch doesn't provide that drop racket.
Should it?
He's driving a 2013 Ram 1500.
- What the hell's goin' on out there?
- [Junior] That guys stuck in snowing plow.
It's snowing.
- He's practicing.
For three inch?
- [Junior] He's got a three inch,
and it doesn't have the drop bracket, should it?
- It's basically a glorified leveling kit.
- I'm trying to think of the three in--
they just came out with a new, not for the--
for the Ford, they did.
I'm surprised they do that
'cause Dodge is having a big problem
with seedy angle axles.
They have so many different, stupid versions
of their trucks like TRD, TRX, Outdoorsman, Rebel.
They have so many different,
so some of them actually come leveled
so that people have one of them.
And then they put a leveling kit on top of that
'cause the struts are actually taller on those,
and then they run into lots of problems
because then they're really maxing out their shit.
If you have a problem with the seedy axle
on those trucks already, anything over two inches,
I've heard at least.
And that's why Zone actually makes a really,
same with their upper control arm ball joint angles.
They have an issue with too.
And that's why Zone makes this nice two inch leveling kit,
and it's a leveling spacer for the top of the strut,
and new upper control arms as well.
It's nice.
And then I think they also do make a three and a half inch,
like Adventure Series like mine,
which then is a bigger spacer, upper control arms,
and the diff job.
And then this is the rear series as well.
- Basically, there's Rough Country three inches
of stretching all around.
- [Junior] Yeah, 'cause Zach Damese is wondering how's
that (mumbles).
- Wouldn't you like to know.
- I know a couple losers down there.
- [Junior] Kahlee is wondering,
"Can you put a Fox adjustable two inch coil over
"on an F150 with a six inch Rough Country
"to get an extra two inches?"
- What? - No, what?
- 'Cause it would be a two and a half, overstock.
Is he saying a two inch lifted coil over,
so you know how like. - [Junior] An adjustable
two inch coil over.
- You know Fox would sell a zero to two inch coil over.
- Oh.
- Is he saying putting that on his six inch lift?
- Yeah, don't do that.
They make a six inch strut,
put a leveling kit on top of that,
but don't put a factory Fox strut
with the six inch hat on top.
That's bad news.
- Fox makes a six inch coil over.
- Yeah.
- You're better off just going with that six inch coil.
I don't really even know how you'd find
a price difference advantage between a zero to two
on a six inch.
- What is going on out there?
- A derby.
A demo derby?
- [Junior] Larry Housy is wondering,
"What do you guys think about the Fox shocks
"with the external cylinder dusters?"
- External what?
Is that anything like the DSC thing?
- [Junior] Yeah, I bet.
- I'm assuming you're talking about the Fox coil over
with external reservoir and the DSC adjuster.
I'm guessing that's what he's talking about.
I think it's cool.
It's sweet because it's something that's easily accessible
to adjust, so it's not like some kind of adjustable shock.
So it's actually a pain in the ass to adjust
like some cars are, actually.
We have to actually disassemble this truck to adjust it.
But no, I think those are pretty cool
'cause it'll adjust the compression speeds,
so you can turn it way down for on road driving
and make it super smooth.
Turn it up if you're gonna be getting a little crazy
off road.
No, I think it's definitely a cool thing.
What makes it cool is it's easy to adjust
and actually does something.
Kirk's dad, did that on his truck.
I don't know, I never did.
You can't adjust them easily.
- [Junior] Daniel's wondering, this is in all caps,
should I yell this at you or just?
- Yup.
- [Junior] "I bought a 2016 Tacoma new from Toyota.
"Came with a six inch Pro Comp lift.
"Is Pro Comp cheap, decent?"
- How did he buy that from Toyota with a Pro Comp lift?
I don't get that.
- They're probably--
- Like on the lot?
- It was on the lot. - Like the dealer did it.
- Yeah, like a dealer installed
Pro Comp. - Totally didn't do it.
- No.
- [Junior] So what are your opinions
on Toyota or on Pro Comp?
And then on Toyota specific.
- I don't know.
Personally, I don't really like Pro Comp.
That's just me.
I don't know.
- [Junior] Why?
- I think they're just one of those brands
that was good back in the day,
and they built up a reputation.
Then they just kind of stopped investing in their company
and stopped advancing their products.
They just kinda go along with the flow,
and they just have that name.
So everyone knows who they are
and just expects the products to be decent.
I don't know.
- [Junior] Do you agree, Banker?
- I 100% agree with that.
- It's like they haven't done anything big.
I don't know.
- They haven't re-engineered anything.
- [Junior] What would you say,
it's a Pro Comp back in the day,
is there a modern kit that you'd say is very similar
but updated then?
Like price-wise, quality-wise type of thing.
What would you--
- Fabtech.
- Yeah, I'd probably Fabtech.
- Fabtech, I guess, is kind of on the same boat
'cause Fabtech's old.
They've been around for while too,
but Fabtech kinda started on the desert racing scene.
Fabtech, at least, still does a lot of R&D with racing.
And then Pro Comp--
- I feel like Pro Comp just got into rock crawling
and stuck there.
- And then Pro Comp started to span away on stupid things.
Then they got the tires and then wheels.
They're just putting their name on everything,
and they're not--
- Like Rough Country's doing now.
- Yeah, like they're not focused on suspension anymore,
so it's just another avenue of revenue.
- That rhymed.
- Yeah.
- But it made sense.
- [Junior] So, yeah.
- And their Dana is absolute shit.
- [Junior] Okay, keep 'er movin'.
- The website sucks too.
- [Junior] Lorencio is wondering, "Do you recommend--"
- I hope they hear that. - [Junior] "the uniball
or a ball joint on a four inch Fabtech lift?"
- I like the uniball.
A lot of people will disagree but I don't know.
- I like the uniball as well,
but the ball joint's easily serviceable on those.
So if you're not gonna do a lot of off-roading,
if you're just gonna drive it on the highway,
you don't really have to upgrade.
- Yeah, there's no reason to spend.
If you don't spend the extra money for the uniball,
you're not gonna regret it.
It's not like you're gonna be like,
"Oh, this thing rides terrible now."
It's not gonna be like that.
It's kinda just one of those things where,
I like the uniball just 'cause I like spherical joints,
because they have a big range of motion, but--
- What kind of joints?
- Spherical.
- Say it one more time.
- Spherical.
- That's fine.
It's just fun to listen.
- Yeah, that was fun.
Yeah, so...
People will say that those uniball joints
aren't good for everyday driving
'cause they will get dirt in 'em
and this and that, and then they're bad,
but, I mean, they're designed to be
self-cleaning joints, so, I mean, like--
- Like a cat.
- Guys run those on frickin' bike trucks
and all their off-road trucks nonstop, and they're fine.
It's what it does.
They're self-cleaning, so--
- [Junior] Give away another T-shirt.
- No, not yet, I'm gonna do that on my term.
- [Junior] You have six minutes left.
- Oh, well, we'll make this one long.
Come on. - Okay.
- Keep it movin'.
- [Junior] Adam is wondering,
on his 2016 Ram 1500, he put a leveling kit on it.
Why does it squeak when he turns or hits a bump?
- You got something loose?
Who put the leveling kit on?
- That's probably the question.
- Yeah, a lot of the times,
once you extend the suspension
and you got the controllers at different angles,
they were happy here.
Try loosening up the upper controller.
- What I would do is with the truck on the ground,
loosen the upper controller arm bolts
and the lower controller bolts
and, I don't mean take the bolts out,
I mean just crack 'em loose,
jounce the suspension a little bit, bounce it around,
and then tighten 'em back up.
Sometimes the bushings will bind
because, like Banker said,
they were in this one position
and then you lifted the truck
and now they're trying to operate at a different angle.
- You don't want to do the lowers on the rim, though.
That's the--
- Oh, the alignment. - The alignment.
- Okay, don't, well, just don't mess with the alignment.
Or just then, you can just bring it
to the alignment shop and say they messed it up.
- Yeah.
- After you mess with it.
No, don't do that.
- Alright, let's give away t-shirts
or Junior's gonna be mad.
So, keyword.
- [Junior] And go.
- Keyword is pizza.
Everyone's gonna say it now.
- [Junior] Hunter Carlton said, "Firefighter."
- Damn it.
- Good job, Hunter.
Here's your t-shirt.
- How come everyone knew it?
- And your sticker.
- That's not a, is that a camera?
- That's Facebook.
- Oh.
- [Junior] How do they get these sent to them, Baker?
- Oh, yeah!
So, if you won something tonight,
you're gonna wanna e-mail name, address,
birthday, phone number, I'm just kidding.
Name and address and what you won to--
- [Junior] And t-shirt size.
- Yeah and size.
'Cause, you know, you don't want to get it 3X
if you're like a 12-year-old girl.
I know, I was looking at him.
Ship.
- Ship as in pirate ship, S-H-I-P.
- Yeah, at.
- Ship at customoffsets.com.
- [Junior] Darryl said pizza.
(laughs)
I feel like we can give him a sticker, at least, huh?
- Darryl, for listening, you get a sticker.
- Darryl, thanks for listening to me.
- Is that Darryl, Darryl?
- [Junior] Yes.
- 'Sup, Darryl?
- [Junior] That's why I feel like he--
- What's up, Mario?
- [Junior] Mario doesn't get a sticker, though.
Sorry, Mario.
- Mario wants pizza.
- [Junior] 'Kay let's go back
to a couple more questions.
- We got a couple stickers to give away, dude.
- Yeah, we just got one for Darryl
and we have one sticker left.
- [Junior] Ooh.
- Keep her movin'.
- Ow.
- [Junior] John Mantoya says,
"How do you fix a vibration at 50 miles per hour
"after seven and a half and rough country, Silverado 1500.
"The alignment's been done."
- Go slower.
(laughs)
- That's, more than likely, a tire balance issue.
One more sticker?
Keyword: Go!
- Make like a banana and split.
- [Junior] Do you want to explain
what this keyword is for?
Why we chose it?
What's happening with the keyword?
- No, I'm not promoting your shit, Junior.
You guys have your own videos for that.
Brad, you want to?
- I plan on committing a lot of arson.
(laughs)
In the next, you know, couple weeks.
So I'm trying to get in on the good side of the firefighters
so when they come and investigate the fire,
they're not gonna rule it, you know, arson attempt.
They're gonna be like, I don't know what happened here.
This was an accident.
- It's gonna be really awkward if something of yours burns.
(laughs)
- Yeah, right?
- Insurance company's not gonna like that.
- Oh, that's funny 'cause here you said
you were gonna commit some arson immediately.
Ohh.
- Alright, Zack got it?
- [Junior] Yep.
- Alright, Zack, here is your sticker.
You also are gonna want to e-mail ship at customoffsets.com
and let us know what you won and where to send it.
- And the size.
Oh, wait.
- No, it's a sticker.
(laughs)
Hey, what size sticker you wanna wear?
So, this, at this time, I think we're pretty much done.
Right, Junior?
- [Junior] Yep.
- So, as we always do, this is gonna go up on YouTube.
In like a week, edited.
- Take out my curse words.
- Yeah, the first person to comment tonight's keyword
on the YouTube video of tonight's episode,
will also get a Lifted t-shirt and a Lifted sticker,
and somebody will reach out to you whenever you comment.
- And a hug from Banker.
- I don't give hugs.
Brad's a hugger, though.
- Nope, Banker's gonna give you a hug in a jar.
- Alright, later.
(laughs)
(hard rock music)

Finnish Fake News | October 11, 2017 Act 3 | Full Frontal on TBS - Duration: 7:12.
[APPLAUSE]
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Welcome back to the show.
We all know that fake news has been
a problem ever since our president first invented it.
But the good news is Congress is fighting back.
Unfortunately, some people are conscientious objectors.
Congress has given the State Department $80 million
to combat Russian propaganda and disinformation.
But Secretary of State Rex Tillerson
reportedly is reluctant to use that.
Now I do want that guy to take an IQ test.
So is there any hope in combating fake news?
Amy Hoggart traveled to a winter wonderland to find out.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
AMY HOGGART: Nobody knows when the infection began.
Russian disinformation attacks.
- Fake news. - Fake news.
Fake news.
It is invading countries.
A dangerous epidemic.
Not just in the United States, but in France, in England,
in Germany, they are trying to undermine
democracy around the world.
AMY HOGGART: And our leaders were blind--
DONALD TRUMP: Russia is fake news.
AMY HOGGART: --or possibly stupid.
But there was rumor of one country that wasn't, Finland.
So I left America and went in search of someone with answers.
Hello?
Hello.
Hello?
Hello!
Hello.
Oh, hi.
I found the man tasked with fighting disinformation,
Markku Mantilla.
We have trolls.
We have fake news.
We have RT, the Russians would like to sew
some confusion in Finland.
But the Finns do not buy false news.
They just don't believe it at all?
That's right, yes.
AMY HOGGART: They were immune, but how did they do it?
First, a quick explainer for Americans.
Finland is a country in Europe.
No, up here.
Europe is a continent in the world.
You are also in the world.
I can tell I'm losing you.
The point is, Russia likes to imagine that they're Europe's
dick-swinging judo man.
So they use fake news to spread chaos in Finland.
About six or seven years ago, we started to see stories
in the Russian media saying that we take Russian kids
into custody or we kidnap them and then they are
sold to gay couples in the USA.
I would definitely click on that story.
But the stories of that kind were rubbish.
Oh.
And these stories are spread by a Finn, Mr. Backman.
AMY HOGGART: So is he like your patient zero?
Yes, he spreads false stories in Russia
and also here in Finland.
Johan Backman is a propagandist.
And when he's not chilling with war criminals,
he gets paid to lie for Russia.
In Finland we have an industry that
is concentrated on the kind of for trade with children.
AMY HOGGART: I managed to secure a meeting with the infamous--
what are you?
I'm a Finnish social scientist and human rights activist.
I'm Amy.
I'm a civil rights leader and a supermodel.
We're just making this up, aren't we?
No, I don't think so.
Are you a troll?
No.
Do I look like one?
Yeah.
We don't trust Russia.
The Finnish social services have taken children
from Russian families--
AMY HOGGART: I left to avoid infection.
Because Backman's lies spread quickly through junk sites
and state TV. - Finland, stop kidnapping.
Finland, stop kidnapping.
Mommy?
AMY HOGGART: Then, Russia followed
up with lies about immigrants.
Finnish cities will be surrounded
by a ring of burning ghettos.
AMY HOGGART: And that lesser known Johnny Cash song
took off in Finland leading to protests and attacks
on refugees.
But rather than fire their own immune system like us,
Finland actually found a solution.
We needed to do something about it.
And we hired the best experts to help us to counter the problem.
- From America? - Yes.
Are you taking the piss?
I was just there.
So I left Finland and found my way back to America--
Ahh!
--where I went to MIT to meet one of these experts, Adam
Berinsky.
I study information, misinformation, rumors,
and conspiracy theories.
The Finns had heard about my research
and they wanted to meet with me. So--
You've been talking to the American government about this
too, yeah?
No, no one from government has approached me.
(WHISPERING) For fuck's sake.
So with no work here, Adam and his colleagues
traveled to Finland to teach them the cure--
It's not really a cure.
AMY HOGGART: --a proven solution--
I wouldn't say that.
AMY HOGGART: --the way to make it better?
I can tell you how to not make things worse.
AMY HOGGART: Good enough.
One thing I've found is that if you repeat
a lie in the course of trying to correct it,
you could make the lie spread further.
So saying something like we have
to stop this rumor that Adam Berinsky is a virgin
can have the opposite effect.
Right.
I've heard this thing before, feels familiar, must be true.
The trick is to get lies before they start.
So we trained over 100 members of the Finnish government
about educating, not just the public,
but political figures as well.
AMY HOGGART: So I flew back to Finland
to learn how this education thing could actually work.
An important step was our president
spoke against disinformation.
And he warned us that, whatever you find on the web,
be critical.
So step one for America is get a new president.
And also we give lessons to students,
how to avoid fake news.
In Finnish schools?
Mhm, how to be critical, how to read news.
Do you guys think that you're better than us?
Yes, so basically what you need is good schools--
OK, no.
--good president--
- That's not going to happen. - --democracy--
You're getting colder.
--and good press.
We're a lot more f--
[BLEEP] than I realized.
Was this all hopeless?
Was Finland just a cruel paradise with no real answers--
Amy, hello.
Oh my god, I think I know you.
Yes, we met in Trump rally in Iowa last September.
AMY HOGGART: He's not making this up.
I really met Ilpo last year.
I know, he's not Borat.
We checked.
My name is Ilpo Michael.
My English is more like American English, like in Grand Canyon.
Oh.
So Donald Trump will be good president.
He has good heart.
I can't believe you're a genuine Finnish person.
I thought I'd just dreamt you up.
Oh.
So Ilpo, are you aware of the problem with fake news
and disinformation?
We know fake news.
They are everywhere.
But we don't fall for fake news.
Let me get this straight.
You love Donald Trump.
Yes.
Yet, you still acknowledge Russian influence
and disinformation.
Yes.
So it's possible for both things to exist at once?
Of course. [MUSIC PLAYING]
Hallelujah!
AMY HOGGART: My god, he's the cure.
Can I take you back to America with me?
I love to do that.
We just need like a vial of your blood
to immunize the others.
I understand only 50% what you mean, but it sounds good.
Why not?
AMY HOGGART: Now this seems much easier than education.
That's real news, not fake news.
SAMANTHA BEE: We'll be right back.

Hibernate Tip- How to persist a List of Strings as an ElementCollection - Duration: 4:33.
Hi, I'm Thorben Janssen from thoughts-on-java.org
with a new Hibernate Tip.
And today I want to answer a question that I get asked on a regular basis
I just need to persist a simple List of Strings.
Do I really need to create an additional entity for it?
Well, it's better to map each String to an entity because it provides the best performance
But you don't have to do it if ease of use is
more important than performance.
Since JPA 2.0, you can use an element collection to persist a Collection of value types.
You just need to annotate the attribute with ElementCollection,
and the persistence provider will persist the elements
of the Collection in an additional database table.
But Before we take a look at an example,
let's talk about the drawbacks of this approach.
The element collection might seem easier to use than an entity with a one-to-many association.
But Hibernate can't handle an element collection as efficiently as an association.
That's because the elements have no id
and Hibernate can't address them individually.
When you add a new Object to the List or remove an existing one,
Hibernate deletes all elements
and inserts a new record for each item in the List.
You will see that in more detail in the following example.
Here you can see a simple Author entity with a List of phone numbers.
I just need to persist the phone number as a String
and decided to map it as an ElementCollection.
As you can see, the mapping is a lot simpler than creating
a PhoneNumber entity with a one-to-many association.
But Hibernate handles the elements of the collection very inefficient.
Here is a simple test case which demonstrates the problem.
It selects an Author entity and adds a
second phoneNumber to the element collection.
Hibernate performs 2 SELECT statements to read
the Author entity and the associated phoneNumbers.
That's not ideal but also not the main problem.
It gets worse when I add the second phoneNumber to the element collection.
Hibernate updates the Author entity,
drops all associated phoneNumbers
and inserts a new record for each phoneNumber.
If I had used an additional entity
and a one-to-many association,
Hibernate would have created only 1 SQL INSERT statement.
So, an element collection is an easy
but not the most efficient option to store
a list of value types in the database.
You should, therefore, only use it for very small collections
so that Hibernate doesn't perform too many SQL statements.
In all other cases,
a one-to-many association is the better approach.
OK, that's it for today.

Do Not Give Up - Duration: 3:32.
A while back I caught a news story about a car that crashed into a Walmart in West Virginia.
It was really surprising to everyone that a car would crash into a Walmart
until they discovered who it was that was driving the car.
Apparently, the owner of the car had parked the car but they left the car running while they
went inside to get their shopping done.
And her two dogs that were inside the car somehow got behind the wheel,
started driving the car and the car ended up
crashing. And so now are you surprised that a car ended up crashing into a Walmart?
Not when you see who it is that's driving.
Who's driving is pretty important.
Same is true of your life and your heart.
You know, what is it that drives your decisions?
Jesus once said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart is."
In other words, looking at where we drive our treasures
of our money and our time and our attention
and it reveals what it is that's behind those things.
It reveals what's going on in our heart
and he's saying in that section that if God is driving our hearts,
we love God more than anything and that's going to show up in our lives.
We'll be driven to do godly things.
But if what's driving our decisions is a love of money, a love of pleasure, a love of attention,
a love of comfort, then, well, don't be surprised if you end up crashing.
Doesn't it seem like sometimes, though, that's going to happen anyway?
Doesn't it seem like sometimes no matter how hard you work, no matter how much you pray,
no matter how often you go to church and try to do things the right way,
that the wrong people keep getting rewarded while you end up getting hurt?
As if you are just falling, falling, falling all alone with no ability to stop you from inevitably crashing?
Jesus knows how hard that is.
Remember that Jesus also knows how it feels to fall, to crash.
And to have no one, not even his father in heaven there to catch him when he did.
He knows how it feels to always do the right thing and
yet be treated as as if he didn't.
He knows how it is to suffer at the hands of those who are only doing the wrong
things and the reason he does is because he wanted the whole world
to see exactly what it is that he treasures in his heart more than anything
and what it is that drives every one of his decisions.
It's you.
The reason he went to his cross, the reason he went through so much pain
knowing that it was coming even though he had the ability to stop it from happening
is because he wanted you and the whole world to see not only him die
but he wanted you to see his empty grave on Easter morning, an assurance that there is nothing
in all creation that's going to stop him and his church from winning.
Jesus gives us a great, a great promise that we get to live with as we carry out
the important, very important work of building our lives.
In Galatians chapter 6 he says this:
Jesus knows that there are so many times in life where we are tempted to give up
or our hearts are tempted to give in.
But he wants you to know you, he wants you to live with the promise today and everyday
that the effort that you put in is always worth it.
Do you know somebody who is tempted to give up and needs some encouragement to keep going?
We need your help getting these messages to everybody who needs to hear them.

I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow when we'll talk about
what the finished product looks like--a life that is fully built on Jesus Christ.

Two For Book Review | Spirit Junkie & I Am Malala - Duration: 5:56.
[ Music ]
Hi my name is A-U-D-R-E-I
Audrei and welcome to my channel CharisseAudrei. Today, I'm going to do
a Two For Book Review. I
Have to say these
Books are
amazing!
So let's get in
to book
One. Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein. The first book I read from Gabrielle,, Gabby
was Miracles Now and
You do it day by day.
Forty-three is when in doubt say I choose to see peace instead of this.
book it took me a while to get one of her books and
I really enjoyed this do all these daily tasks and she always
Talks about the Course in Miracles during the summer I bought a Course in Miracles
I am not finished with it, but this is what the Course In Miracles look like it is a chunky book, but it is
Three books in one you have the text and the student
Workbook and a manual for teachers, and I'm still currently reading the text and a Spirit Junkie is
about
Having love over fear and when you fear something
you either go into bad habits or
Not fulfilling your life as you would want to I
tabbed this book a lot and highlighted it and I really loved it
This book has three parts to it Part Number One-
Detour into Fear. Part Two-
The Answer. In Part Three- The Miracle and
each
parts have
what she is talking about and her experience, so it's
Kind of like a memoir, but not it's a self-help book
It has a lot of lessons in here like a lot of meditation she always talks about
Meditation and of course in miracles' in this book like her other book miracles now
the first how I found Gabby is from YouTube I saw one of her speeches and
After that I would watch all her speeches and it took me a while to get Miracles Now and Spirit Junkie
Of course I want to get all of her books
But I'm going to space it out because I think different books will
Have different things for you
But it will say a lot about a Course in Miracles so the provinces
Will want you to pick up Course in Miracles like I did and know know all about the Course in Miracles I
Rated this book of 5 stars what I like about this book. Is that she talks about codependency and
addiction not only to drugs but addicting
with addiction with food and relationships and being codependent on relationships and
To get out of that what you're trying to find in that
Relationship you already have but you've got to find it in
here then that person I recommend this book if you want to read some self-help books if
this sounds like a book you're interested in if you read You Are A Badass by Jen I
Think you will like Spirit Junkie as well book number two I Am Malala. This is about a girl who
stood up for education and
I really like this book. I gave this book also five stars
this is a memoir of Malala and
What she went through living in Pakistan and her struggles
living and fighting for education I
Like how this book
Starts from the bottom her parents and builds all the way up into the event that happened
This book has five parts
And it's a really quick read I would consider this a feminist book. For me being a feminist is
Fighting for women's rights all around the world. Women's rights that
don't have rights to go to school like Malala did and
fighting for
Equality around all genders. I would recommend this book to anybody that want to understand
The Middle East and Pakistan in that country. She also talks about
How 9/11 attack
affects everybody, but it affect her because she was in that war zone and
Just knowing her perspective on
How those events
affected her life. If you read a
Witness Wore Red
And liked it. I recommend this to that is it for the two for book to review.
I hope you check these books out and
Follow me on social media and subscribe on here if you
Like I hope you guys have a peaceful day and keep reading and see you later
