Moving Cows and Bulls From Here to There and Everywhere - Duration: 11:31.

Hi I'm Mike and every day on the ranch is filled with hard work in order to bring food

to your plate and as we are now less than one week from shipping calves off to auction,

it's time to move some cows around in order to make room for the over 300 cows and calves

that will be on their way back to the corrals in the next few days.

We have to move heifers, steers, bulls and our bottle calves to new pastures today as

we play musical cows, on our Wyoming life.

When it comes to space here on the ranch we have plenty of it, but as we get closer to

selling calves, which happens next week, well, that means that all the cows will soon be

back here at home on about 7 acres.

All 160 of them plus all their calves.

It makes for some cramped quarters.

At the moment, we have steers, heifers and bulls all right here at home as well as the

bottle calves talking up some corral space that we are going to need soon too.

So, today we get to move a bunch of cows around.

It's kind of like three card monte.

Ya move the bottle calves here, ya shuffle heifers there, steers go over here and bulls

go in their winter pasture.

Then you move the bottle calves back over here and the heifers go in a trailer to move

to….

well I'm not even sure yet.

One thing I do know is that I planned to get some cool drone shots of me moving cows but

because we have a nice gentle wind blowing out of the west at about 300 miles per hour.

That's not going to happen, the drone hates the wind and unless you want to see me crash

the drone in about 3 seconds, it can stay in its box.

Instead of the drone, I have a few cameras that I'm going to be moving around and a

new go pro that I'm going to wear to give you that first person perspective.

I'll do my best, but keep in mind it's just me out here, no help and no cameraman.

Let's get to it.

The easiest place to start is the closest, our bottle calves, or calves that either lost

their moms after birth or their moms wouldn't take them or some other goofy thing happened.

However, they ended up here, they are orphans, most of them were hand fed until they were

old enough to eat food on their own and rather than stick them back out with the cows where

they could get lost or confused we kept them close to home.

They have been living in this corral for the last few months but now this corral is needed

for the steers, who we will deal with in a few minutes.

The easiest place to move the bottle calves to, that is out of the way for a while is

into the barn, at least until we get done moving all the other cows around.

They are pretty docile, they are used to people moving them around and move into the barn

with little effort, although I don't think they are too happy about it.

The steers are hanging out just outside of the bottle calves old corral which will soon

become their corral.

Steers are bull calves that have been castrated.

We don't do it just for fun, it's actually a very vital procedure that makes them easier

to deal with than a young and rowdy bull and it also makes them gain weight faster.

That's important, because these steers are being raised for their meat.

Up until now they have been eating grass and hay but starting today they will begin getting

a daily ration of corn, oats and barley.

The amount that they get is carefully figured based on their average weight and over the

next couple of months the ration will be increased as they gain weight.

When they reach about 1200lbs they will be taken to a USDA inspected processing facility

and returned to us as about 500 lbs. of beef that we sell to our farmers market customers.

There are seven steers, so when we butcher our freezers will be filled with almost 2

tons of hamburger, steaks and roasts, or about the same weight as the average American car.

In the end that works out to almost 30,000 dollars in beef before expenses and if we

never sold packages or put it on sale.

A lot of work but a huge part of our business.

Getting the steers into their new corral and eating their new feed is a big step to clearing

out the corrals and pastures getting ready for cows to come home but a lot more is needed

done as we begin working with the heifers.

The heifers are all first-time moms, they were bred for the first time this summer to

a heifer bull, roughly the same age as them at about 15 months old.

After checking them by ultrasound about a month ago to find out who was and who wasn't

pregnant they were moved into this corral.

Where they have anxiously been waiting for the next step in their lives.

After preg checking we found out that 2 of these heifers are not pregnant.

One is our daughter Grace's, which we will be keeping to try again next year, the other

was found by ultrasound to have under-developed ovaries and will never be able to get pregnant.

She will be sold but before we can get there we have to sort both of them off of the other

heifers.

Doing so means that we have to move them into one corral then make the heifers we don't

want to sort off go back into the other corral.

Sometimes it works perfectly.

Other times you have a cow like 80, who is one of our oldest and a pet cow try to help

but she usually ends up in the way.

But through a bit of moving and shaking you can get the heifers you need sorted off.

We are going to put them in with the steers for now so that they are out of the way, as

we move the rest of the heifers up into the loading corral and onto a waiting trailer

to move them to a new pasture, where they will spend the winter.

Keeping them separate from the other cows until after they have their calves in the

spring.

They are due about a month before the other cows and because heifers are notorious for

having complications during the birth process we like to keep them separate that way we

can devote a lot of our time taking care of them.

Once the first batch is loaded into the trailer, they are taken to their new pasture and dropped

off.

Then we go back and get the rest, releasing them as close as possible to their friends,

where they go right to work eating the new grass they have found.

Well, we are almost done, but we have saved what could be the most problematic bovines

till the last.

The bulls.

These guys have been sorted off of the cows for the last couple of weeks and have been

living out on pasture, separated from the cows by just a few fences.

Bulls are stubborn animals.

They learned somewhere along the line that if they don't want to move, you can't

make them.

Each full-grown bull weighs over 2000 lbs. and if pushed too hard they will start to

push back and that can make for a very bad day.

One of the techniques that I try to practice on the ranch is low stress cattle handling.

Basically, that means that you try to stress the animals as little as possible, taking

your time and being incredibly patient.

This is our youngest bull, the heifer bull, who was turned out with the cows after he

was done with the heifers.

With him you can definitely tell that he hasn't learned the bullish way of only moving when

he wants, he's more skittish and tends to run and move around more than the older bulls.

Call it old age or just being stubborn in their old age but you will rarely get an older

bull moving like this.

One trick that I have learned over the years with the bulls is to find the alpha bull,

just like dogs, wolves, or even elephants the herd mentality is in full effect with

the bulls.

There is an alpha bull, the one in charge and occasionally another bull will challenge

him and want to move up in the pecking order.

Bull fights can be epic and go on for hours and usually leave a bull injured or even lame,

which happened to this black bull.

He challenged our red bull, named Bubbles for supremacy of the herd and ended up going

lame on his back leg.

He now has a pronounced limp.

And because of that he will not be effective in breeding next year.

After allowing him to heal for a few weeks its evident that it's a permanent injury

and he will need to be sold, more than likely I will end up taking him to auction with our

heifer that can't get pregnant, so because of that he will need to be sorted off as well.

It looks like Bubbles is still the alpha bull and after getting him moving in the right

direction the rest of the bulls move along with him, from one pasture to the next and

eventually into the corrals and on to the trailer.

Bubbles is not only our alpha bull but he is also the oldest bull on the ranch and he's

has been through this a few times and he leads two other bulls, including the heifer bull

right onto the trailer.

Once inside the trailer, pandemonium breaks out as a bull fight starts inside the trailer.

Bulls do well when out in a bigger area but the closer they are to each other, the more

aggravated they become and it's imperative to get them out of the trailer as soon as

possible before another bull gets hurt.

Getting them to their winter pasture and out of the trailer, where everything calms down

quickly.

We still have two more black bulls to get back to the corral and after some coaxing

they begin to move in the right direction and into the corrals, where I can them split

them up, keeping our lame bull back and moving the other black bull up into the trailer.

But it's not that easy, he doesn't want to leave his friend.

With some patience though and light nudging he eventually gets with the program and loads

up in the trailer himself where the door is closed and he is taken to the bull pasture

with his other friends.

The lame bull is kept back and separated until it's time to sell him, he's fed and the

other bulls in the bull pasture also get a bale of hay to keep them occupied while they

get used to their new homes.

Back at the barn the bottle calves are let out after being cooped up in the barn and

seem to be happy about being outside once again.

Now we are ready to bring the cows home.

Next week we will be sorting off their calves, loading them on semi-trailers and taking them

to auction in south Dakota.

and the jawline, too (mascella)

i'm going to blend everything with a real techniques brush

one thing i don't like

it's nose contouring

why?

if you define pretty well this part of the face, you don't need to contour the nose

what do you think about it?

i'm totally agree on very bad visible lines

but if it merges exactly into the complexion, i like it

i'll do a soft baking with this Guerlain powder

"This is it. Halo's Control Center."

She's the one who's figuring out how to unlock the doors in front of you,

and she's the one who's coming up with the plans and telling you what to do.

"There's no time ! Get out of here, find Keyes, stop him ! Before it's too late !"

But then that last ten percent of the time, she doesn't know what to do, and then that's when you take over.

"Even if I could get the countdown restarted, I don't know what to do."

117 : "How much firepower would you need to crack one of the engine's shields ?"

As the story progresses you learn that Earth is threatened, not just by the Covenant,

but also by the race of parasites called the Flood.

One of the most amazing video gaming moments ever is the introduction of the Flood.

Private Kappus : "Hold still, hold still !"

Johnson : "Let 'em have it !"

Keyes : "Sergeant, we're surrounded !"

Johnson : "Goddammit, Jenkins, fire your weapon !"

"— There are too many, Sarge !" "— Don't even think about it, Marine !"

In Halo 1 they're the ultimate zombie that comes flying out of the closet.

It's a virulent strain of alien that as it kills it grows, and as it grows it kills.

Cortana : "No human life signs detected. The Captain… he's one of them !"

Halo 1 does such a brilliant thing : this is what the world's about.

All of sudden you meet the Flood, and the world you realize is about something completely different.

Cortana : "We can't let the Flood get off this ring. You know what he'd expect…

what he'd want us to do."

"It's done. I have the code."

When the Flood comes out the Covenant's just as much food as you are.

The Covenant's fighting the Flood, simultaneously fighting Earth,

and you're fighting the Flood and the Covenant at the same time.

It's like this crazy triangle of conflict.

The Halo's were built to destroy the Flood.

Cortana : "The Forerunner built this place, what they called a Fortress World."

The reason there's no more Forerunners is they died fighting the Flood,

and the Halo's were like their last option.

117 : "The Flood is spreading, if we activate Halo's defenses we can wipe them out."

Cortana : "Halo doesn't kill Flood, it kills their food."

"Humans, Covenant, whatever !"

"We're all equally edible."

"The only way to stop the Flood is to starve them to death,

and that's exactly what Halo is designed to do :

wipe the galaxy clean of all sentient life."

You're caught between a rock and a hard place.

You can't kill the Flood

without firing the rings,

but you can't fire the rings without killing everybody else.

John-117 : "That's not going to happen."

Pretty much it's kind of a non-discriminatory weapon, you know, it's a hammer to kill an ant.

But you do something clever in the first game.

The Master Chief has managed to destroy the Halo itself so that it doesn't go off and kill everybody on Earth with it.

Which destroys the Flood infestation that's been unleashed

and conveniently takes out your Covenant enemies at the time.

Cortana : "Halo, it's finished."

John-117 : "No, I think we're just getting started."

The opening scene of Halo 2 shows the Arbiter and his trial.

Prophet of Regret : "When you first saw Halo, were you blinded by it's majesty ?"

Arbiter : "No."

Regret : "Yet the humans were able to land on the sacred ring,

and desecrate it with their filthy footsteps."

The Arbiter screwed up pretty royally in Halo 1 by allowing Master Chief to destroy the ring.

Prophet of Truth : "Your inability to safeguard Halo…

…was a colossal failure."

He's standing before the Prophets, and he's facing them for the game that he lost to you.

Regret : "Prophet Truth this has gone on long enough."

"Make an example of this bungler ! The council demands it !"

The real enemy ? Well it's those three kind-of creepy dudes

that you can tell are kind of pulling the strings.

Three Prophets at the top of the Covenant political chain : Truth, Regret, Mercy.

Truth is the man, and he is the last word when it comes to the Covenant.

"You were right to focus your attention on the Flood,

but this Demon, this Master Chief."

The Covenant is united under one religious banner, which is the belief that this great journey is at hand.

Truth : "Soon the Great Journey shall begin."

"The weight of your heresy will stay your feet,

and you shall be left behind."

He's immediately made an example out of.

He's ripped of his rank and armor,

he's tortured, he's branded as a failure.

It's at that place that the Prophets come to him

and provide him with an opportunity to redeem himself.

Truth : "Become the Arbiter…

and you shall be set loose against this heresy with our blessing."

If the story of the Arbiter works at all it works on this very personal level.

I was once great, I was shamed,

all my responsibilities have been taken away, I'm gonna prove myself.

Thel 'Vadamee : "What would you have your Arbiter do ?"

And so, he becomes an assassin for the Prophets.

Truth : "We renewed our faith in the prophecy that other rings would be found,

and see how our faith has been rewarded."

Truth has built up this religion around the Forerunner rings,

and it's a completely false religion.

What he wants to do is light the rings because he thinks he's going to become a god.

Mercy : "Halo ! Salvation for all !""

Truth : "And begin the Great Journey."

We don't know what the Great Journey is,

but we know that it's probably something pretty bad.

The Flood is unleashed in Halo 2, and you realize that the Flood actually

has a central governing intelligence which is this huge creature called the Gravemind.

Cortana : "What is that ?"

Gravemind : "I am a monument to all your sins."

The Gravemind is there to convince you to not fire the rings,

for his own selfish reasons.

Gravemind : "Those who built this place knew what they wrought."

Truth wants to light the rings, the Gravemind doesn't want to light the rings, and you have to pick one.

"Fate had us meet as foes,

but this ring will make us brothers."

By the end of Halo 2 the Chief and the Arbiter have the same goal.

They're both trying to stop Truth from firing the ring.

"Kill the Demon !"

Arbiter Thel 'Vadamee : "Tartarus, stop !"

"The Prophets have betrayed us."

Tartarus : "Take care Arbiter, what you say is heresy."

Thel : "Is it ?"

People you once thought were your enemies are now your allies.

Johnson : "You don't like me and I sure as Hell don't like you, but if we don't do something

Mr. Mohawk's gonna activate this ring,

and then we're all gonna die."

Thel 'Vadamee : "Tartarus has locked himself inside the Control Room."

Johnson : "Well, I just happen to have a key."

"Come on, grab a Banshee and give me some cover."

The Covenant is broken. The Elites have rebelled, the Brutes have replaced them.

Tartarus : "The Great Journey has begun,

and the Brutes, not the Elites, shall be the Prophet's escort.

There's internal war.

Elite : "Hold your fire !"

"Hunters have come to our aid, Arbiter. They will fight by our side."

Truth thinks the moment of the Great Journey is about to happen.

And the Chief is chasing him, trying to stop whatever this madman is doing.

Cortana : "That structure in the middle of the city,

it's a Forerunner ship, and Truth is heading straight for it."

"If he leads the Covenant fleet to Earth, they won't stand a chance."

"I'll detonate In Amber Clad's reactors just like we did the Autumn's."

"No, I don't want to chance a remote detonation."

"I need to stay here."

The Chief is separated from Cortana for the first time since

you first put her in your head at the beginning of Halo 1.

117 : "After I'm through with Truth…"

Cortana : "Don't make a girl a promise,

if you know you can't keep it."

Leaving Cortana behind was the big emotional moment for the Master Chief in Halo 2.

Cortana is in the clutches of the Gravemind, and the Flood is loose.

Gravemind : "I will you ask, and you will answer."

Cortana : "Alright,

shoot."

Worst of all, all the Halos are primed to fire.

343 Guilty Spark : "In the event of unexpected shutdown,

all remaining platforms are now ready for remote activation."

A lot of disasters are looming.

Truth is on this Forerunner ship and the Master Chief is stowed away in the back.

"This is Spartan-117. Can anyone hear me ?"

Amiral Hood : "Master Chief ? You mind telling me what you're doing on that ship ?"

"Sir, finishing this fight."

The Chief has a lot of problems at the beginning of Halo 3.

The Flood is out ; an unstoppable parasite that capable of wiping out all life in the universe.

All of the Halos are primed and ready to fire.

Oh, and you left that woman that you care about ? Yeah, you left her in the clutches of the Gravemind.

"Chief ! I can't tell you everything. It's not safe."

"Cortana !"

Nice job !

Cortana is giving us cryptic messages.

"Could you sacrifice me to complete your mission."

"Could you watch me die ?"

Is she sending us a warning ? We don't know what's happened to her since then.

"You will be the protectors of Earth and all her colonies."

The Covenant has absolutely destroyed parts of Earth.

Millions of people have died.

And the Prophet of Truth, the guy you didn't whack last time around ?

He's now in charge of this army of giant gorilla-ape-rhinos that's tearing through your stuff, you've gotta shut him down too.

you've gotta shut him down too.

Truth : "For your destruction is the will of the gods."

"And I ?"

"I am their instrument."

The Elites and the Brutes are having a civil war,

destroying everything that the Prophet of Truth doesn't.

And the keys to the doomsday machine are in the hands of a madman

who thinks it's some sort of religious gateway.

Truth : "In a moment I will light the rings,

and all who believe shall be saved."

Your job in Halo 3 is the absolute salvation of humankind

and the rest of the galaxy.

No more, no less.

Humanity is sort of down to its last defenses.

There's this overwhelming feeling of desperation.

Hood : "This is either the best decision you've ever made or the worst."

All you can do is strap on your weapons and go to work.

Miranda Keyes : "Until we kill Truth, stop the rings from firing,

nothing else matters."

This is gonna be hard. Even for a seven-foot-tall supersoldier, this is gonna be tough.

Hocus : "Tower one approach is active !"

"— Mayday ! I can't control her !" "— Pelican down !"

"— If we don't make it." "— We'll make it."

Today we`re going to judge BIG PIRATE firecracker

They are distributed by Tropic

Their code is tc16

We have 10 pcs in one pack

We have 9 g of NEC for all

It gives 0.9 g of NEC for one piece

Let`s see how they look

They are made quite nice

They are bright yellow

I like their design

They stand out

They aren`t black

Sb didn`t regret the ink to make original firecacker

They have CE certificate

So let`s test it!

We`re testing BIG PIRATE firecrackers

Let`s burn first firecracker

Quite nice

And we`ll pu one under reflector from tractor

We`ll test some how they work in water

I`ll put it here

Very weak

There`s weak firecracker

We throw one piece to water

And we`ll throw firecracker to the small lake

I don`t want to throw it closer

Misfire

They are weak if we want throw them to water

Next test

In the sand

Last test

We`re looking for some tree

And we`ll burn a carabine which has 5 pcs of BIG PIRATES

I`ll put it here

We burn it

They are falling

And that`s all

We`ll see on a review

These firecrackers cost about 4 PLN

They are quite loud

They don`t explode in water

I think it`s ok to buy them

That was nice shooting with them

They are ok to New Year`s Eve

They aren`t too loud and too quiet

My note is 7/10
