Welcome everyone, how is it going guys?
I have a question for you.
What do you think of the following statement: "Nowadays, almost everyone must learn English"?
In other words you need stop whatever you are doing and start working on your English.
"But wait a second, they are actually working on their English."
Well in that case just keep on watching this video.
So in today's video I will try to argue for this statement and I'll try to convince you
by giving you three main reasons.

It's very easy to do.
So reason #1, English is an International language, it's spoken everywhere.
The English language is spoken in a large number of countries.
It's officially spoken in 101 countries around the world by 100 000 000 people, that's 1Billion.
It's also the language of international business and international communication.
In other words, if you speak English fluently, you won't face any communication problems
in almost any airport or market place around the world.
An interesting fact: the number of people who speak English as their second language
is actually larger than that of those who speak it as their native language.
Also mastering English gives you access to the best universities out there whether it's
in Canada, England, or the US.
Reason #2: English is the language of science.
Ask any science student out there whether he or she is studying computer science, medicine,
engineering, business, marketing, linguistics ... etc. what is the main language they need
in order to access their subject matter.
The answer will invariably be ENGLISH.
Another thing, try to search for a scientific concept or a scientific term on google or
on YouTube and then compare the content available in English with that in any other language
and you will see the difference.
Actually, let me take you to my computer and we will see it together.
Let's suppose that I am interested in learning Java, which is a computer programming language.
So, I go to YouTube and I write in French "Learning Java".
And I will see how many results I will find on Youtube.
So I click here.
And as you can see we have 40200 results.
Now, we will switch to Arabic, and I will try to search for the same thing: "learning
java."
So, as you can see, I wrote "learning java".
I click on search and as you can see we have 20 000 results.
So we found about 40 000 results for French and 20 000 results for Arabic.
Now, let's move on to English and see.
Okay, as you can see I wrote learning English.
Let's click on it and see.
And ... BOOOM!!!
You have 2 million!
2 million!
That's great, look at the difference between what we found in English and what we found
in other languages.
Here I used the example of French and Arabic.
And you can do this with any other language and you can do it for any other scientific
concept not just about "learning java", in business as I said earlier or in medicine.
The difference is huge.
When we search in English, the results are in millions.
While, when we search in other languages as you can see here, it was in thousands.
20 000 for Arabic and 40 000 for French.
50 % of the content on the web is in English.
English is also the language of computers.
Yes, English is the language of science, but this is especially true for those of us who
use computers every day.
I study computer science at the university and I can tell you that we really need to
English language.
For instance, most computer programming languages are written in English.
The third reason: English will help you professionally.
Nowadays, a lot of companies consider speaking English as a real advantage that can get you
hired.
This is actually why many companies would ask you whether or not you have TOIEC.
That's Test of English for International Communication.
I have conducted 5 - 7 job interviews in a company that I used to work for and every
single time the question "do you speak English?" would come up.
Now, why am I sharing with you this list of reasons?
Well, as English learners, we all go through those moments in which our motivation starts
to go down and we start asking ourselves questions like: why am I learning this language?
It's very hard.
I can barely see any progress.
Well, in these times you can remind yourself that you are actually working on something
worth it.
Remind yourself that it's all worth it in the end.
