Youtube daily report Feb 7 2018

[CHANTING]

The Hawai'i Prince Hotel Waikiki was established in 1990.

Twenty-six years later, they embarked on a full hotel transformation, rebranding to the

Prince Waikiki.

The new design is inspired by the hotel's rich history.

They discovered that before it was the hotel twenty-five years ago, it was a muliwai.

And that muliwai is a place where the fresh water meets the ocean, and it creates these

undulations in the sand and the water.

Locally acclaimed artist Kaili Chun took inspiration from the muliwai

to design the hulali i ka la,

the ceiling installation hanging in the new Prince Waikiki.

For me, the hinana, I gravitated to it, because it's the baby 'o'opu.

And also, I had a dream one evening, and it was about the reflection of the sun on the

surface of the water.

So, I kind of took those elements, as well as the muliwai

and the little ripples that it makes.

We did a lot of design work early on,

making prototypes of different shapes, different materials.

We were given a framework to work with, so you know, came up with the copper, came up

with the shape, came up with the form and the texture of the pieces, and proceeded to

make a model, a one-to-one model of this thing.

And we could figure out how we wanted to curve everything across the ceiling.

Phase 2 was discovering that we should let the employees make some.

And I think just the process itself is Hawaiian.

You know, like …

Nobody builds a fishpond on their own.

Exactly.

So …

It's all about the community.

Yeah.

And the family.

And so, when you're looking at the hotel and all of the employees, and literally their

families participated in this, you know, that's a very Hawaiian thing.

Once I got involved, it was just amazing.

It was very exciting, I think, for us as employees to be a part of the whole art piece.

It was a nice way to kind of say: This is where we are, and this is our people, and

our culture, and this is very important.

And with this rebranding, I think it kind of moved right into that little niche.

The hulali i ka la is more than just a piece of artwork in a hotel -- it's a story hammered

through memories by those with ties to the Prince Waikiki.

YouTube Star Loses Role In Film Over Past Use of the N-Word - Duration: 2:16.

For Complex News, I'm Natasha Martinez.

//// If there is anything we've learned from the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, it's that

the entertainment industry is starting to buckle down on not letting abusers get away

with their actions.

Thankfully, the recent justice being served does not encompass physical assault, but verbal

missteps as well.

According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox is cutting out a YouTube star from an upcoming

film for using the n-word in a video.

YouTuber and Teen Choice Award winner Kian Lawley has been removed from the upcoming

film The Hate U Give, after a video of him using the n-word surfaced in late January.

20th Century Fox Films explained their decision in a statement saying:

"Due to the controversy surrounding his past comments and behavior, Kian Lawley will no

longer appear in The Hate U Give.

The studio plans to recast the role of Chris and reshoot scenes as needed."

The ironic thing is that the film is racially charged to begin with—it was inspired by

the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Hate U Give is based on the 2017 novel of the same name and focuses on a 16 year

old girl who gets pulled into activism after she witnesses her unarmed best friend be killed

by the police.

'The Hate U Give's' main star is Amandla Stenberg, who is a young activist in real life.

She's been vocal about injustice, diversity, and racial inequality throughout her career.

Quite the opposite of Lawley, who was set to play her onscreen boyfriend.

Now that his scenes are set to be scrubbed from the film, he addressed his use of racial

slurs on Twitter.

"If u don't learn from ur mistakes, u can never grow as a person.

I've learned a lot & I am grateful to have the power to change.

I never want to be who I was yesterday.

We're in a constant battle to become a better version of ourselves, use ur voice as ur weapon."

Unsurprisingly, Lawley's supporters came after Angie Thomas, the author of The Hate U Give.

She responded by saying,

"There is so much more that you don't know, and I'm honestly sad for you...

Everything I've Tweeted is out of sheer disappointment in someone I love...

I've been hurt severely.

But please, make me the bad guy.

Please, call out black women and attack us.

You have no clue what I'm dealing with."

Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Issa Rae, Sabrina Carpenter, Algee Smith, Lamar Johnson and

Common are also set to co-star in the film.

There is no word yet on who will replace Lawley for the role of Chris.

That's your news for now.

Small Youtubers To Watch - Between 500 and 28,000 Subscribers - Duration: 8:16.

Hey, friends.

Welcome back.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Courtney and I have my two standard poodles, Phaedra

and Nyx in the room behind me so you may see them walking around.

Today, I'm bringing you a video inspired by Jen Luvs Reviews.

She recently did a video about YouTubers under 5,000 and this video is basically about different

YouTubers that I like to watch that are between 500 and 5,000 subscribers.

There are a couple towards the end that are just under 30,000 but I wanted to go ahead

and talk about all of them with you and I'm going to kind of run through this quickly.

They're in no particular order.

First up is Clumps of Mascara.

This is by my friend Brittany.

She has 11,000 subscribers.

She's a local friend of mine who's in Orlando and she talks about beauty and lifestyle.

She also talked about more serious issues like being black in America.

She was recently flown out to LA to be at the Black Panther premiere on the purple carpet,

which was amazing.

She looked so good.

Then, we have my friend Eugenia.

She has about 2,400 subscribers.

She mostly focuses on hair and makeup.

She's got a lot of really great video videos of her at Monaco Salon, which is a South Tampa

salon.

She has Asian hair and so it's very dark and thick and so she has taken it through a whole

bunch of different colors.

She went blonde.

She went light pink.

She went hot pink and most recently, she has pink and a bright purple.

It looks amazing so you should definitely check her out.

Then, we have my friend Emily from Emily Wolf Beauty.

She makes makeup tutorials and she just recently shared a really cool video about having eyelash

… What was it?

She just recently shared a cool video about getting her eyelashes permed and tinted, which

makes me want to give it a try but I'm going to see how it lasts for her.

It's supposed to last for about two months.

I like that she's doing videos like this.

Her tutorials are amazing.

She is so talented like I feel like I have no skill compared to her because she is so,

so good.

She's a total sweetheart.

She's cruelty-free and she also does some, I think some fashion and lifestyle too.

Next, we have Jen, my friend Jen from My Beauty Bunny.

She has around 7,000 subscribers.

She does makeup reviews and tutorials and our friend Roxy used to be on her channel

but Roxy blew up, Roxette Arisa.

Jen is one of my biggest influences for why I went cruelty-free so she's somebody definitely

to check out.

I think you'll really enjoy her.

Next up, we have some of the girls from the PhyrraNyx Facebook group, we have Dizzy Girl

Makeup and she does a lot of really fun stuff.

She'll cover indie brands.

She'll do hair tutorials like how to style your hair and she's also done some wig reviews.

She's around 1,300 subscribers right now.

Next up, we have Eyes on Allison.

She has 4,400 subscribers right now.

I've mentioned her before as a channel that you should watch.

She does makeup, decluttering, crafts, different kinds of stuff and she's a real sweetheart.

Then, there's Geek Out of Water.

She has around 3,300 subscribers and she does a lot of makeup over 40, skincare over 40,

foundation over 40, and she has dry skin similar to mine but not exactly like mine so I really

appreciate her videos.

Then, we have my friend Kath from the Fabzilla.

She has around 2,200 subscribers and she just recently went all vegan.

I think she's had a vegan lifestyle but not been vegan with her makeup for like 10 years

but she covers how to transition on her blog, as well as on her YouTube channel.

She's also been doing a lot of vegan fashion reviews so I think that you'll find her very

interesting especially considering her background.

She does work in the medical industry.

Next, we have Ashley and she's better known as Lipstickitty.

She's a real sweetheart.

She's part of the Kat Von D Collective Artistry.

She has around 4,000 subscribers right now but she's been cruelty-free for a very long

time.

On her channel, you'll see cruelty-free and vegan makeup reviews and tutorials and

she is super skilled obviously or she wouldn't be working for Kat Von D.

Next up, we have Makeup Struggles.

Now, she's got like 18,600 or probably almost 19,000 subscribers right now and I love her

videos because she gives you something that you're not really going to get anywhere else

because she's just very frank with you.

She is explicit and she warns in her video that she's going to be swearing because that's

just how she is and I appreciate that but she does a lot of like fun makeup talks.

She does really, really cool, "Let me redesign these palette videos."

I really enjoy her anti-hauls.

I love her taste in makeup too because she likes a lot of similar colors to me.

She likes cool tones and she likes grays, so yeah, I think she has great taste and I

think she's really funny.

Next, we have Mariam and she has around 500 subscribers and she does a ton of indie beauty

so if you like Fyrinnae or Silk Naturals or Aromaleigh or anything like that, if you're

looking for duo chrome eyeshadows, she is your girl.

She does all kinds of swatches and she also does tutorials too.

Next up is Rebecca Shores.

She has around 11,000 subscribers and she does beautiful hooded eye makeup tutorials.

I had the pleasure of meeting her when I was out in LA for Jen Beauty and she is a total

sweetheart and she just recently had a baby but she is still at it making very beautiful

and creative eye shadow looks.

Next up is Rina Reviews and she has around 600 subs.

She's also in the PhyrraNyx Facebook group and she does a lot of like indie beauty and

she does reviews and she does tutorials.

She does like anti-haul and declutters, so she's a lot of fun.

Next up is my friend Miranda of Slashed Beauty.

She has around 12,000 subscribers.

Now, she does a lot of drugstore beauty.

That's her focus.

Sometimes, she'll work in some lifestyle and she just recently got married and went on

her honeymoon but mostly, she focuses all on drugstore beauty and she does a lot of

great swatches.

She has great reviews and I really like her makeup tutorials as well.

Plus, I have total hair envy.

Her hair is so gorgeous and thick.

I wish mine was like that.

Next, we have Smacy.

She does a lot of really fun, colorful tutorials.

I like her tutorials.

I think that they're fun to follow.

She also has some really interesting chitchat videos that you might like as well.

Next up is Sofie U.

She's also in the PhyrraNyx Facebook group and she has around 3,400 subscribers.

She's a UK-based makeup artist and she just does a lot of great tutorials.

Next up is Vegan Beauty Review.

You may know Sunny because she has a pretty big blog.

She has around 4,400 subscribers on YouTube and she focuses on cruelty-free and vegan

beauty.

Next up, we have Tashina from Logical Harmony.

She, like Jen from My Beauty Bunny, were two of the biggest reasons that I went cruelty-free

in 2012.

I love Tashina.

She is amazing.

She's got about 23,500 subscribers on YouTube at the time of this video and she really does

focus on cruelty-free and vegan makeup.

She does tutorials.

She does hauls.

She does basically stuff like that and I find her very enjoyable.

Her video quality is really high.

She has two different cameras, so she can shoot different angles when she's doing tutorials

she's got a really great sound equipment, really great lights.

I feel like she puts out very high quality videos.

Then, we have Kailey Baute and she's got about 24,000 subscribers and she does a lot of really

cool makeup reviews and talk videos and I think that you'll really enjoy her.

She also does some indie.

My video camera shut off and I didn't realize it didn't record this section about Ivy.

Ivy's another member of the PhyrraNyx Facebook group.

She's awesome.

She does a lot of different types of reviews like she does a lot of great wig reviews.

She also does makeup reviews and she does tutorials.

She's a lot of fun so please check her out.

She's got around 23,799 subscribers.

Last but not least is Angelica and I will butcher her last name so I'm not going to

do that.

I'm very sorry but I don't know how to pronounce it.

It's Swedish.

She has around 28,000 subscribers.

She does the most amazing, beautiful, colorful looks like really colorful eyeshadow tutorials.

I have total eye envy over the shape of her eyes because she's got so much lid space.

She does a lot of indie brands.

She does a lot of really interesting fun tags, just … and she's very creative so I think

that if you like color, you will love her channel.

She just recently did a really cool channel on how to make your own Jeffree Star Blood

Sugar palette.

Rather than buying Jeffree Star, instead she gave suggestions on some really great colors

and ways to shop your stash, which I thought was brilliant.

It kind of reminded me a little bit of my makeup geek DIY palette series.

Anyway, those are my picks for people that you should check out that are all under 30,000.

I will put everybody's name and links to other channels in the description box below.

I already have it all written up, so there's no way I will forget a link when I put this

into the description box of this video.

I hope you really enjoyed this video and check out some of these channels.

I think you'll really enjoy them.

There are a lot of great small YouTubers out there and I know that YouTube's algorithm

doesn't necessarily make it easy for you to find new people, so I hope that this will

help you.

I plan to do this probably every six months just to say, "Hey, check out some new channels."

Anyway, if you liked this video, please give it a thumbs up and share.

It really helps me out when you share my videos and it makes my day and if you haven't already,

you should click on that little subscribe button down below and I'll see you in my next

video.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #901 | Kaua'i High School - Kaua'i | The Bigger Picture - Duration: 2:34.

Out of the seven billion people living in this world,

more than four billion own a cellphone.

Look at us, thinking we have the whole world in our hands.

We think we're capturing the moment, when in reality, we are blind.

For a phone fiddles with a photo, adding filters to nature's natural features.

On average, people check their phones one hundred times a day.

But one who is addicted to their phone will check it more than nine hundred times a day.

Remember as kids, when we didn't focus on videotaping our every adventure,

and posing for a picture?

Our phones distract us from the real beauty right in front of us,

which makes each minute less memorable.

We had an expansion of imagination, greater than what the phone holds.

We focus solely on that tiny screen,

trying to capture every single moment we fail to witness.

Put down your phones and cherish what is around you.

We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful creations.

So, capture with your eyes, and replay in your minds,

because you never get the same moment twice.

It's a beautiful world, can't you see?

Not through a screen or virtual reality.

We are free.

This world is given for us to see it.

Embrace what is beyond the screen, and enjoy the bigger picture.

This is Tiffany Sagucio…

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #901 | Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School - Kaua'i | Kalalau Trail - Duration: 2:38.

Last year, we hauled out over thirteen thousand pounds of garbage.

The rise in hikers on the west side of Kaua'i has made the beautiful Kalalau Trail a dumping ground.

As more people came, you could see apple cores on the ground, and plastic bags.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources has gone to extreme and expensive measures

to haul out the trash.

We go in once or twice a month, and our guys go around, and go and just start filling things in.

We have deserted campsites, so they take all of that out.

[INDISTINCT CONVERSATION]

The helicopters charge us, state parks, a thousand dollars an hour.

So, helicopters, as you know, don't fit many people, and we also have to have sling loads.

It comes out of the state parks budget, which is paid for by the taxpayers of Hawai'i.

The trash left on the trail doesn't just affect the looks of the trail, but it also

destroys the trail itself.

It's really destroying the Hawaiian culture.

It's very disrespectful.

Eventually, there will be nothing left.

It probably affects the flora and the fauna just by being there.

I mean, who knows, maybe a little lizard might get caught up in a bottle.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources has tried to put a stop to the trash by putting

up signs and banning jet skis.

They'll bring a boat so they can bring in their chairs and tables, and their mattresses,

and make a home for themselves.

And it builds up, because when they leave, they don't take it back with them.

I know you're all gonna say yes.

Our enforcement officers will go in and fine them, and give them a citation, and then they

have to go to court.

The efforts the Department of Land and Natural Resources have made to clear Kalalau Trail are working.

However, they can't do this alone.

With education and awareness, they hope that the trail will still be here for generations to come.

I just wish that everybody could take care of it, as they would take care of their own home.

It is all of our home.

It's part of Kaua'i.

This is Kolten Gusman from Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, for HIKI NŌ.

Drunk Schumer Yells 'I'm The Sole Power,' So Trump Sobers Him Up Fast With Nasty Surprise - Duration: 5:52.

Drunk Schumer Yells 'I'm The Sole Power,' So Trump Sobers Him Up Fast With Nasty Surprise.

Chuck Schumer was recently caught off guard at a charity event, where he stumbled to the

stage and immediately apologized for his disheveled "attire."

It only went downhill from there as the senator tore up his notes, and in an apparent drunken

rage yelled about being the "sole power," adding, "I'll stop Donald Trump's junk

on the floor!"

Well, "crying" Chucky sobered up real fast after President Trump gave him a nasty

surprise.

Senator Chuck Schumer was one of many speakers at a dinner in New York for the Human Rights

Campaign, the biggest liberal gay rights group around.

He started his speech off by apologizing for his inappropriate attire, and it was at that

point most that people knew Schumer wasn't feeling any pain.

The man the president calls "Crying Chuck" had definitely had a few drinks, and he proceeded

to laugh and tear up his speech.

He then jumped into immediately trashing President Donald Trump, calling him "dangerous"

and the "worst man."

Schumer thought no one would see the video since this was not a "mainstream" event,

so being intoxicated with his red face and disheveled look he must have decided, "What

the hell, I am going to wing it and say what I really think."

That was not a good idea, but then again, this is "Crying Chuck," who basically

had his butt kicked by Trump all year long.

Schumer rambled from topic to topic, including some strange story about his high school days

and his dad being an exterminator, and then, he launched into an odd discourse about how

he didn't get into Harvard but then he did.

That's when the fun drunk Chucky turned into the angry Senator Schumer.

He went on a tirade, screaming, "If we can take back the Senate, that means that I will

have the sole power to determine what goes on the floor of the Senate."

He added, "It means we'll be able to stop Donald Trump from putting all his junk on

the floor and stop the anti-LGBT cascade of things that come into the United States Senate!"

Flailing his arms up and down, he concluded by chanting, "We will take this country

back!

We're gonna win!

We're gonna win!

We're gonna win!"

Watch The Video :

Well, President Trump just gave "Crying Chuck" a nasty surprise by called his bluff

over the looming government shutdown and the Democrats' "memo" written by "Little

Adam" Schiff, which is a response to the damning Devin Nunes' FISA Abuse memo.

President Trump must approve the release of the Schiff memo, and he will for one great

reason: It's filled with propaganda and lies.

In fact, it actually includes personal attacks on Devin Nunes and Trey Gowdy.

"Schiff saw the same paperwork as Gowdy did and told us releasing the memo would recklessly

and dangerously reveal highly classified information, harm our national security, and reveal sources

and methods.

He was wrong," reports The Federalist.

They add, "Gowdy saw the same paperwork as Schiff did and told us releasing the memo

would show that the FBI and DoJ introduced uncorroborated and unverified information,

gathered at the behest of a rival political party, into FISA proceedings, with the paid,

political provenance of the dossier unreported to the judges.

He was right."

So, hell yes, Trump is going to release Shifty Schiff's memo.

When the truth is on your side, there is nothing to fear, and Schiff and Schumer are clowns

who really think the American people are too stupid to see through their rhetoric.

Schumer is also going to be blamed for another government shutdown.

"President Trump said Tuesday he would welcome another government shutdown unless Democrats

agree to major changes to stop illegal immigration," reported the Washington Times.

"I'd love to see a shutdown if we can't get this stuff taken care of," the president

said at a White House roundtable discussion on MS-13 gang violence and illegal immigration.

President Trump has laid out a four-prong approach to immigration discussions on Capitol

Hill, saying he would accept a generous amnesty for 1.8 million illegal aliens "Dreamers"

in exchange for major policy changes, including $25 billion for the border wall and more authority

to speed deportations.

So, is it any wonder Schumer was disheveled and had indulged in a few drinks to relieve

some of the stress?

When you are on the losing side and your team's best player is pencil-necked "Little Adam"

Schiff, who only tells lies and innuendos, and your other "stellar" warriors are

"Mad" Maxine Waters and "Cuckoo" Nancy Pelosi, it's no wonder Schumer's nickname

is "Crying Chucky."

We all know how this ends for the Democrats, and if I was a loser liberal, I'd be crying

too.

what do you think about this?

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #901 | H.P. Baldwin High School - Maui | Rylee Hubin - Duration: 2:56.

I never felt fine with myself.

But it was just something that I came across, that I thought would make me look better.

Using makeup to hide insecurities is not uncommon.

But for Rylee Hubin, her self-confidence struggle began as a young girl.

I was bullied ever since I was a kid.

I was born on the Mainland.

My skin isn't light.

They either called me a Muslim, or a wetback.

They called me the n-word.

They would throw notes at me saying that I was stupid, ugly, no one would love me.

Imagine being that young, and having people just breaking you down because you were different.

Unable to recover, Rylee's mentality only worsened.

I would hurt myself.

I would burn myself, I would cut myself, I would hit myself, and pull out my hair.

I basically treated my body like clay.

I was just trying to fit myself into like, all these waist trainers and try to

mold my body into something else that wasn't mine.

Rylee was then inspired to use makeup as a coping mechanism.

Seeing that my mom would wear it just to seem presentable, I thought that I could do the same thing.

But then, I started to become obsessed with a different picture.

I absolutely hated myself. I really wanted to die.

However, an encounter in 2016 made all the difference.

That was the one incident where a girl walked up to me and was like: You're wearing a

lot of makeup.

At this point, I was just trying to embrace myself as much as I could, so I took a makeup

wipe, I took it all off.

And I was like, Okay, I'm gonna face my biggest fear today, walk out there with a

bare face, and just be me.

It just took a while for me, because I didn't know how to accept myself, because I based

myself off of other people's opinions.

But now, I'm just gonna flaunt my beauty, and who cares what other people think.

Rylee now hopes to inspire others when doing makeup professionally.

I would make it so that they look good to people around them, but also to themselves.

'Cause I don't want them to feel like they have to put on that façade.

I don't think that makeup makes someone else's face look better, but your face makes

the makeup look better.

Rylee continues to wear makeup, but with a renewed perspective.

I feel like I can wear makeup just because I want to look better.

Like, let's be real. Like, you see this face?

Like, it's great. It's glowing.

I don't have to impress anyone else but myself.

You're not gonna change who you are simply by putting on this mask.

Go out there, and just live a little.

Comfortable in her own skin, Rylee is finally both confident and happy.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #901 | Kamehameha Schools Maui Middle - Maui | Community Band - Duration: 3:01.

Music has the ability to entertain people.

But for Glen Kitagawa, music serves a much deeper purpose.

The name of the group I'm with is called the Maui Community Band.

I originally got involved after bumping into my old high school band director.

The age range of our members is fairly wide.

Today, it's the sixth-grader all the way on up to someone who is seventy-eight or seventy-nine

years old.

At that time, I probably hadn't picked up an instrument for at least twenty or twenty-five

years.

This self-expression helps Glen to see music as much more than just notes and sounds.

It's a great chance for me to sort of break free from everything else that's kinda happening

in the world.

When you sit there and you play music, it's really easy to forget about everything that

may have happened through the course of the day, 'cause you're focused on what's

on paper, and you're also listening in to see how you fit in with others sound-wise.

And I take a lot of pride in being able to identify with that, and get to be as good

as I can be.

Glen spends his Thursday nights with people that he can relate to, and who share the same

passion.

Growing up, I was a rather quiet child, though some would argue the point, and I was looking

for an opportunity to maybe express myself.

He's also a mentor.

You know, there are people maybe that come into the band that aren't as experienced

as he is, and he will help them.

And he's a great person.

What can I say?

Though he was a bit rusty with his instrument, everything came back to him naturally.

I started off playing the baritone, or euphonium.

And it's sort of like a mini tuba, for people that don't know what it looks like.

Although music may come easy to him, Glen faced obstacles as a child.

Growing up when I was younger, we weren't fortunate enough to own our own instruments,

so there were times where one was not available for me to practice.

Other challenges were, of course, having the responsibilities that you have growing up,

and also even at work or even for your family when you have kids,

being able to take care of those responsibilities as well.

Challenges physically with the music itself, as you get older, you know, it gets a little

tougher to play.

Your fingers don't move the way they used to.

Right now, the funnier part is being able to see the music.

You know.

Fortunately, you just move the stand away, and it gets a lot easier now.

[CHUCKLE]

English poet William Congreve once said: Music hath charms to soothe a savage beast.

But for Glen Kitagawa, music intensifies his zest for life.

Andrew Zimmern Cook: Shrimp Étouffée - Duration: 3:07.

Mardi Gras literally translates as "Fat Tuesday." No matter when you celebrate it

or what your size is, shrimp étouffée needs to be on your menu. Most of my

guests who eat it are just like, "oh my god, what's the secret?" and I tell them

the recipe and everything is really simple. I mean celery, onions, tomato paste,

shrimp, lemon. But the magic is when you use real shellfish stock. So step one:

lots of butter. And we let that melt.

All right, that butter is starting to foam.

This is hot enough, so that we can start

cooking our onions right away. Gonna add

our sliced garlic at the same time. We're

not caramelizing these, we're not gonna

burn our garlic in the butter, we're just cooking these until they're nice and

translucent. My onions have softened and

now is the time to add bay leaf, ground

celery seed, fresh thyme and plenty of it.

Give that a stir. And then all of that

tomato paste. By mixing the butter and

the onions and the herbs into that

tomato paste, it'll cook properly without scorching for longer and we want to

maintain that contact with the heat so we get as much toasty tomato flavor in

this as possible. Next up, while that's

cooking, two tablespoons of ground black

pepper. The tomato paste is starting to caramelize, it's turning more of a brick

color. Add our celery.

And now that we've cooked our celery for a couple of

minutes, we're gonna add our shellfish

stock in batches and every time it comes

to a nice strong simmer or light boil, I'm gonna add some more. This has come

back to a boil. We're gonna add 3/4's of

our scallion, our hot sauce,

Crystal Hot Sauce of course, and our shrimp.Gonna add

nice tablespoon of lemon juice. I like to

serve this with lemon wedges at the

table too. Give this a stir every couple of minutes. You know if you cook shrimp

too quickly, they get tough. Right now it's just barely simmering, we're

probably about 207, 208 degrees and it's probably just perfect. I love the flavor

of really good parsley. Taste for seasoning.

God, that's good.

Gonna add about half the

parsley. This is about a minute away from being done. How do you serve a nice

etouffee? Over rice. You can't have too much of this sauce on the plate and I

really mean that. A little more parsley, a little more fresh scallion, which is so

nice to bite into. Throw a lemon wedge on the plate. Let the good times roll.

Le bon temp brulee, shrimp étouffée.

Modern Shakespearean Sonnet 66. The Gallery Owner, by Andrew Barker - Duration: 1:12.

Hi, I'm Andrew Barker. This is "Modern Shakespearean Sonnet Number 66:

The Gallery Owner." You put to me the question: "What's it worth?"? To who? Me? You? Or in the marketplace?/

Indicative of economic growth/ This artist's value's set to soon increase./

But value, cost and worth are not the same,/ The question should be:

"How much am I moved/ By what's before me?" Stocks may fall or gain,/

But how can worth be qualified, be proved?/ For even I, trained in this world to speak,/

The esoteric language of our trade/ Depend on others knowledge in that clique/

That sets the price in all the deals I've made./ My taste for art I fear I may have lost./

Believe me, worth is not the same as cost. Thank you.

The Tragedy of the Honey Badger - Duration: 3:14.

Did you ever hear the Tragedy of the Honey Badger?

No.

I thought not.

It's not a story kids today would tell you.

It's a years-old legend.

The honey badger was the Dark Lord of the memes.

So crazy and so nasty-awes, it could use its hunger to infiltrate a house full of bees to eat their larvae.

He could even eat King Cobras as a snack .

He could actually take what he wants?

The old YouTube was a pathway to many memes some consider to be...

unnatural.

What happened to him?

He became so bad-awes, the only thing he feared losing his popularity.

Which, eventually of course, he did.

Unfortunately, lesser memes came to follow him.

Then those means usurped him in his sleep.

Ironic.

His bad-awes-ery could defeat all others, but not save himself.

Is it possible to learn this power?

That depends...

Do you know da wae?

Do you know da wae?

Do you know da wae?

Do you know da wae?

[3 bells toll]

[Gregorian chanting , The Song of Memes begins]

[The Song of Memes ends]

My Current Lyme Disease Protocol [CC] // aGirlWithLyme - Duration: 10:21.

[Intro Music. Vincent Tone - New Summits]

Hey guys, in today's video I'm going to talk about my current Lyme Disease protocol that I

am on. Before I get into the video please be sure to give this video a thumbs up

if you liked it, subscribe if you're new, and be sure to follow me on Twitter and

Instagram - all my social media links will be in the description below.

In June of 2017 and I went back to my naturopath. I had not seen him for about

a year and I'd stopped most treatments because nothing was working and my body

just couldn't handle it anymore. But I went back in June and I wanted to see

what he could do for me and hopefully help me to support my body and get it

where it needs to be before I do any intensive treatment. So while at my Naturopath

he gave me some tinctures to try out. I'm not 100% certain if these are

homeopathic, allopathic um it's one of the two. Basically these tinctures are to

help support my body's for my organ function, help to detox and possibly

help manage some of my symptoms that I have. So there really isn't too much

killing of the Lyme disease going on and if there is it's at very small levels.

The appointment happened so long ago that I really can't remember all of the

details but that's pretty much the best summary I can give you of my treatment.

With this protocol I have to go very slow so I don't end up triggering a

flare or I'm not on too high of a dose where it makes me feel sick so I have to

be in low dose because unfortunately I am one of those Lyme disease patients

that happen to be very, very sensitive to basically anything, I have to take baby

doses of pretty much any treatment I do to try to you know tackle the Lyme. So

I'm going to talk about the tinctures a bit. Soo the first tincture I'm on is

St. Mary's thistle - which is just like milk thistle. Um, so Milk thistlel cleanses and

detoxify the liver body, and milk thistle a powerful herb for supporting the liver

and cleaning the blood. It took me quite a while to figure out the right dose

with this one. I worked up slowly, at first I increased the dose every three

days like my Naturopath had recommended - but at first I found it very hard to

kind of listen to my body and you know what it was telling me, I found it very

hard to figure out if the increase in dosage was making me feel worse or

probably just feeling worse because of the weather or I was just in pain, or

I was just generally not feeling well all together. So I ended up being on

way too high of a dose for a while - I think I got up to about eight drops with

this altogether if I remember, that was way, way too much. I did end up really

making myself not feel the best because I was taking a little too much. So yeah,

it took about a month and a half for me to figure out how to listen to my body

with these tinctures and to figure out where I'm at and what dose I should be

at. So after I figured everything out I'm currently on four drops of this. I take

two in the morning and I take two at night, if you're wondering about the

taste this actually doesn't taste too bad I mean it's not the worst tasting

things but it's also like not the best - but it's very tolerable to take, it

tastes kind of vitamin like. The second tincture I have is Red Sage. Red Sage

is supportive of the liver, spleen, and mucosal membranes, and as an overall Apdagenic

herb, it's also an immunomodulator for normalizing immune function, and it

protects organ function, it's useful for autoimmune illness and cardiac pain.

I really, really struggled to find the dose with this one, um it's probably the

one I struggled the most with so far. It just gave me a lot of problems. Of course

I increased this every three days like my Naturopath said and I went a little too

fast with increasing it, and I ended up making myself pretty sick - like this

made me detox to the extreme, I was sweating - I would wake up at night

drenched in sweat, it gave me pretty bad brain fog, I felt tired all the time, it

made me ache - so yeah this really does help detox. I went about it way too quick.

So I think I was on about six drops of this, so that was way too much. I

eventually had to stop it altogether completely and wait for about a week or

two before I started on it again so I could go about it more slowly. When I did

that I started to increase the dose once every five to seven days and really,

really listened to my body to make sure that I wasn't going on too high of a

dose. It took me I say about three months to find my right dose with this one. So

currently I am on three drops of this, I take one in the morning and two

at night. I also now wait about two weeks before I go on another tincutre because

I find the longer that I wait in between, the more sure I am that it's not too

high of a dose. So basically I learned the hard way, I think I went a little too

fast with this and just three days was just was not enough for me to figure

out if I was at the right dose. Definitely going a lot slower than I

anticipated it with these tinctures. The third tincture that I am on is Kudzu.

Kudzu increases blood circulation, relieves tension in the face and neck,

is antiviral, lowers blood pressure, is anti-inflammatory, and it reduces

inflammatory cytokine cascade, and it is also strongly anti-inflammatory in the

brain. I have been on kudzu for the past a month and a half. From my experience

with the red stage I've been going really slow with this one as to not

cause any bad symptoms or flares, or anything like that. So I haven't had any

bad symptoms from this yet. I am currently on two drops

which I increased probably once every week and a half, just to be safe. I

mean the only thing that really happened with this one is I did have a bit of

increased brain fog and I was a bit dizzy, so I think with this one helping

inflammation in the brain then it could have made my brain fog a little

bit worse, and also this tincture actually tastes kind of good. So I'm not

on the full dose of this yet, and I haven't really found my tolerance for it

so I am going to try to increase this one soon again

just to see where I'm at with it, and how high I could go with it before I figure

out what dose I should be taking of this. The fourth tincture is Chinese Skullcap.

Chinese Skullcap is a potent synergist aka - it enhances the value of other herbs,

it's also antibacterial and antifungal, it's also known for it's sedative properties

as it contains melatonin, it is strongly protective of nerve tissue and liver

function, it is a immunomodulator which means it calms an overactive immune

system and reduces cytokine cascade. So I have not taken this tincture yet as I'm

still trying to find my tolerance with the Kudzu. I hope to start this one in

probably mid February early March at the latest, and if everything goes on plan I

will hopefully be on this soon. Of course if you want to know my progress with the

tinctures I always update on Instagram how I'm doing with them when I try out a

new tincture, so I update probably every month and a

half I'm on them, so if you follow me on Instagram then you will see the updates

of these. The fifth tincture is Sida Acuta. I'm not sure if i'm pronouncing

that correctly, I get it wrong every single time - but this has antimicrobial

properties against Babesia, Bartonella and Mycoplasma, it strengthens the immune

system, protects red blood cells from damage, and has antioxidant properties

obviously this is another tincture I have not taken yet, this will be the last

ticture that I will take because it does have those properties where it has

affects against all the co-infections of Lyme disease (Babesia, Bartonella). So yeah,

this one will be the last one I take because I obviously don't want to take

this one and then have a bunch of die off and herx reactions - that would be really terrible.

So obviously when I take this I will update everyone. So yeah, that is

basically the protocol that I'm on. Again, this is taking me much longer than

anticipated to be on these tinctures. I'm still only on three of them and I

have two more to go so hopefully I will be on all of them soon if everything

goes as planned, and I don't make myself too sick with them. I do hope that this

protocol does improve some of my symptoms. I've heard a lot of other

people going on a similar protocol most of these herbs are from the Bunher

Protocol I believe, so many of them are similar to that protocol and I've heard

a lot of people have had success with that protocol, when they haven't had

success with a lot of other different protocols for Lyme. So yeah, I really do

hope it it proves my symptoms but I'm really not expecting miracles either and

I suspect it will take a while before I start to see any little bit of a

noticeable difference. And one I am on all the tincture and I'm on all of them for about

a month and a half I will be making an update video on how I feel when I'm on

all of them. So that is basically my protocol. Um, I hope you guys enjoy this

video. Please be sure to give it a thumbs up, subscribe if you're new. Please be

sure to hit the notification button down below to get notified when I upload new videos,

all my social media links will be in the description below, and I hope you see

you guys next time, bye

Elon Musk wants to go to Mars. His reusable Falcon Heavy rocket is now one leap closer - Duration: 5:09.

JOHN YANG: And finally tonight, we simply can't leave without a longer look at today's

liftoff of a huge new rocket from SpaceX.

MEN AND WOMEN: Three, two, one.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

JOHN YANG: The world's most powerful rocket, the Falcon Heavy, took off from Kennedy Space

Center in Florida.

That's where NASA has long launched spacecraft.

But, today, it was from the private company started by Elon Musk.

At least two million people watched it on the company's livestream on YouTube.

Our own science correspondent and resident space expert is here, Miles O'Brien.

And it's the focus of our weekly segment on the Leading Edge of science and technology.

Miles, welcome.

Let's get the serious stuff out of the way.

What is the goal of this effort?

MILES O'BRIEN: Well, Elon Musk wants to go to Mars and colonize Mars.

That's the top-line goal.

And this is one of the big, important steps along the way.

But part of getting to Mars and making that a practical idea is making it more easy to

get to space.

And this is a lot cheaper.

It's a fraction of the cost of anything NASA has built.

We used to say in the shuttle days, it was about $10,000 a pound for any pound of anything

you put into space.

Elon Musk is down around $1,000 a pound.

So, we're talking about an order of magnitude improvement on cost, and that has to do with

the reusability of these boosters.

JOHN YANG: So these boosters actually landed, re-landed after the liftoff.

MILES O'BRIEN: It was quite a sight.

Two of them made it back.

And they landed in perfect synchronicity.

It almost looked like animation.

And it was really rather spectacular.

But those are fully reusable boosters.

The shuttle tried to do reusability, but because of a lot of compromises in budgets along the

way, it was only partially usable, and ultimately a very expensive craft to fly.

JOHN YANG: And Elon Musk, being the showman that he is, what is he using for a payload?

MILES O'BRIEN: If NASA were doing this, they probably would have put in ballast, which

have been a bunch of bricks or concrete or something for weight.

He put in a Tesla Roadster, which he actually drove, used, with a dummy sitting in the seat

with his arm on the window.

And on the screen on the Tesla, it says, "Don't panic," David Bowie playing, of course.

Now, you have got to appreciate the cross-marketing, number one, Tesla, of course, his company

as well, and, number two, just the good, plain fun of it.

JOHN YANG: Absolutely.

Now, you have covered the space program for a long, long time.

What was it like for you to watch this today?

MILES O'BRIEN: John, it caught me by surprise, as obviously I wasn't there.

I wish I had been there, couldn't get there.

But just watching it, I really got emotional.

I miss that event, seeing the shuttles launch from those launchpads.

That launchpad was where Apollo 11 launched from.

Lots of history there.

And there's something very moving and emotional about it.

I got into covering space because it's one of the few events that binds us all together

in an uplifting way.

We can think of a lot of things that bring us together and bring our focus together in

a negative way, but space has a way of literally and figuratively taking us above the horizon.

JOHN YANG: And the beaches and the stands of the Kennedy Space Center is filled with

spectators.

MILES O'BRIEN: It was reminiscent of the old moon shots or some of the more celebrated

shuttle missions.

I'm thinking of the John Glenn flight in 1998, STS-95 on Discovery, where there were a huge

amount of people on the beaches, the hotels sold out, and the enthusiasm.

And then, of course, the enthusiasm of these young people at mission control in Hawthorne,

California, for SpaceX, 20-somethings.

And it reminded me that we got to the moon on the backs and through the brains of 20-somethings.

It's just a new generation.

It's their grandkids.

And they have taken the torch.

They're carrying the torch and, hopefully, taking us to Mars.

JOHN YANG: And Elon Musk has already booked a commercial flight with this?

MILES O'BRIEN: Two unnamed people apparently will do an Apollo 8-style mission, that is

to say, a lap around the moon, using the Falcon Heavy as a way to get them there.

So ,stay tuned for that.

I can tell you it's not me.

But I'm available if spot number three comes up.

JOHN YANG: And there was -- people may not know this, but there was a journalist in space

program, and you were supposed to be a part of it, or may have been part of it.

MILES O'BRIEN: In my days at CNN, we worked out a deal for me to fly on the shuttle to

the International Space Station.

Unfortunately, we lost Columbia right about the time we were going to announce that, and

that was the end of that.

So it's a big long-held dream of mine to have reported from space.

I'm tan, I'm rested, I'm ready.

That's all I can say.

(LAUGHTER)

JOHN YANG: So, Elon Musk, if you're looking for the third, here he is.

And for a fourth, I will carry your notebook.

MILES O'BRIEN: I'm in, brother.

Let's go.

JOHN YANG: Great.

(LAUGHTER)

JOHN YANG: Miles O'Brien, thanks a lot.

MILES O'BRIEN: You're welcome, John.

JOHN YANG: And if you can't get enough on "NewsHour" online right now, you can watch

the full rocket launch.

That's at PBS.org/NewsHour.

PONLE PAUSA (Subtitles/CC) - Episode VIII, 'Pulse' - Duration: 7:46.

Life manifests itself in a pulse.

Two pulses mark a distance. A space.

A lapse against which what will come, will be contrasted.

Regularity awakens an inevitable capacity for synchronization.

Even with external cycles such as temperature or light.

(Circadian Rhythms)

But the regularity of a sound ...

Irresistible to a foot, fingers, head.

We are made to react and move when listening to music.

Since both activities involve the same areas of the brain.

That is why the regularity of the pulse is instinctively our first objective.

Consistency that lets us follow. Go WITH the music.

A symphony orchestra is an extraordinary example of synchronization.

Thanks to that we can go with it is that we notice a mismatch.

And even... enjoy it!

American composer Steve Reich, almost like a game...

...raises what happens when the incessant and simultaneous repetition of a pattern...

experiences an imperceptible...

but constant mismatch.

We organize what we hear.

Because the feeling of consistency also depends on it.

(Ravel, Piano Concerto for the left hand)

METER. A fundamental innate tool.

Regularity allows us to anticipate.

Grouping gives coherence to this prediction.

If we listen to a succession of equal pulses for example, ...

...unconsciously we divide them into groups: Of two, three, four...

Certainly feel our breath or be aware of our steps, also determines a grouping.

one, two, one, two, one, two....

Where ONE exercises some attraction.

And so, without realizing it, we are accentuating the beginning of each group.

Music often depends on our effort to find regularity and stability.

Although it has always gone hand in hand with a conscious will of liberation.

Accents that seduce.

That blind and confuse you.

(BARTOK, Music for strings, percussion and celesta)

Or in a song! Literally the metre of a text can define the musical meter.

The discomfort of the unpredictable captivates us.

Try it: Count in five!

There is a certain search. Lack of rest.

Even in all its grace there is hesitation.

An elegant dizziness.

Limping.

Attractive asymmetries.

Provocative groupings that might seem even...

...capricious.

A frantic structure with a flow of information at a dizzying speed.

Speed. TEMPO.

Which, as a measuring system determines the distance between these pulses.

But TEMPO is also a fundamental means of expression.

A slow TEMPO can be so many things.

The same with a faster TEMPO.

Bounds between speed and character can be very thin.

Because TEMPO is more than a distance. That a quantitative aspect.

Music lives outside of a metronome.

Just as life is lived outside of a clock.

It's HOW we experience it!

There is music that needs more time than other to say it all.

Sometimes, according to the composer, literally everything.

('The symphony is like the world, it must contain everything.' - Gustav Mahler)

Where even a gesture that used to be an ornament,...

...takes a new dimension through its magnifying glass.

And another that seems to happen so fast. As if it belonged to a microscopic world full of details.

Almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

But there they are. With powerful content in each element.

However, to appreciate them, we have to want to watch and learn to observe from another perspective.

Music breathes in different layers.

It offers us alternatives.

With ideas, expressions, impulses, energies that occur simultaneously.

With simultaneous TEMPI!

Or with declared indifference. Without respect for others TEMPI.

Separating worlds.

Moments.

There is also music that seeks to shed any notion of pulse. Meter.

As out of time.

Contemplative.

Or another decidedly multidimensional.

Relativizing completely our perception.

Even decisions:

What do we listen to? Where do we direct our attention?

To everything? To nothing?

As with the world out there.

Outside the Theater.

Full of life, simultaneity and mismatches.

Of subjective speeds. Of ways to use time.
