One of the sides have color mark, warnings, certificates
And writing that it's Made in China
Under the sleeve we have white package with Modefined Logo
After opening the cover we see the package with spares
And the device kit - box mod, tank, coil head and spare glass
Inside that package with spares we have USB-MicroUSB cable for charging and firmware upgrade
And some paper - user manual and warranty card which gives us 3 months of warranty
One of the best moments - display film removal
Aaaaayeee
It's time to talk about specs
This regulated box mod is made of zinc alloy and plastic. It's available in 5 colors
Here's the photo
This mod have center positioned steel connector
And fits up to 28mm diameter atomizers
Mod have chip installed that powered by 2*18650 and have maximum wattage at 200W
Minimal resistance is 0.1ohm
Also it support TC for Ni, Ti and SS and have TCR mode for fine tuning of TC
It also have Bypass mode - it works like series mechanical mod and with fully charged batteries it will give 8.2V to your coils
It's important
This mod also support charging and firmware upgrade via MicroUSB
Tank is made of SS and available only in one color - SS
Have it's own standard of drip tip, top fill, 5ml capacity and can utilize SMOK coil heads like Baby Beast or something
It also have airflow adjustment option
Diameter of this tank is 26mm
Prekrasno
We're done with specs so let's do a detailed overview
Let's have a quick look with the tank
This tank have non-standard slot for drip tips. Drip tip itself is made of delrin and held by 2 o-rings
This slot wont fit neither 810 nor 510 drip tips
Top cap have interesting design - it have 4 screws but they have no purpose but decorative
Here we have black arrow - it tells us that this top cap is slides in that direction
And it opens top fill holes
On the top part, on shaft and at the bottom we have knurling
This top section unscrews counter clockwise. Together with coil head
Of course glass can be changed and in case you broke that one - you have spare glass in kit
This tank uses coil heads like these - as you can see preinstalled coil head have large single vertical coil inside
And resistance of this coil head is 0.4 ohm, maximum wattage 65W
On the bottom we have airflow adjustment ring with stopping feature
It's adjustable at both sides at the same time
This tank have nice protruding pin and on the bottom of the deck we have manufacturer info
We're done with the tank now it's time to talk about the box mod
Here we have Black with Ultem color box mod
Also i have Red version which is made of delrin
Yes, this part is plastic too and it's obviously black
As i said and showed you on the picture - this box mod is available in different colors and it's great
Yes, this box mod is pretty tall compared to other mods, but despite this he's pretty compact and have a nice grip
And now it's time to continue a detailed overview and as always we start from the top where we have massive steel connector
With spring-loaded steel pin. Yes, it's 510 connector which is hold by 3 screws
As i said connector have center positioning and it fits up to 28mm atomizers
I'll demonstrate with Gorgon RDCA which is 26mm in diameter
As you see it's perfect fit and we have a lot of free space left and it's looking good
And of course 24mm attys will also fit good
Moving forward. Control panel.
Fire button, display, + and - buttons, menu button and Micro USB slot
This looks nice
Here we have LED that will inform us about charging process via USB
Here at the bottom we have some design thing - i don't know what the material is this, but it's looks fine
This material is used on all mods
Next we see the body in this case made of Ultem
And it's transparent - you will be able to see batteries and some parts of insides
Here we have vent holes on both sides
And of course here's our battery door which have writing LYRA
The door have this lock and to open it you have to slide this thing
And to close the door put the lock slide it back
I think you noticed that door is spring-loaded. The spring is pretty strong so if you opened it it will remain open
Inside of the door we have positive and negative contacts and charging contact
Those slots also have spring-loaded contacts inside
They are gold-plated as well and they also marked with + and -
Inserting first battery positive down, second positive up
As i said contacts on the bottom is spring-loaded
Let's close the door and slide the lock back. Now it's locked and sits firmly. Great battery door.
After you install the batteries the mod is turning on as well as display
You will not be able to turn this box mod off completely. It will always be either on or in stand by mode
I gotta zoom in because everything is too small on that display and it will be on of the cons
As you can see in stand by mode display shows us the clock
It also have company name there
If i hit the fire button display will show that our device is locked and i need to press Fire 5 times to unlock it
And again switches to clock when we see the date and time
Raz, dva, tri, chetire, pyat'(1-2-3-4-5)
Box mod is unlocked and we see some information
That's the mode we're in right now. Wattage, that can be adjusted with + and - buttons
Voltage, Resistance, Puff counter and Puff time, Menu icon
Also we have battery life indicators
And the speedometer
Browsing through the menu we can with + and - buttons
Pressing any of these buttons we can move that arrow on the display
If that arrow is pointing at Power
By pressing that center button we will be able to change the mode
Bypass mode, TCR mode, TC SS mode, TC Ti, TC Ni and Power
Central button is applying the selected mode
Next mode is wattage adjustment, press the menu button, it becomes red and now we are able to adjust it with 1W increments. Well done.
That is cool, 1W is awesome. No need to be more nor less.
Applying. In case you didn't press that menu button to apply once you press Fire button it will apply automatically.
Next. It's Menu. You see that gear change its color to red
Press menu button and here we have resistance lock option
Puff count reset
TCR mode adjustment
Puff time
Auto-lock option
And time limit
Also we have date and time adjustment
After that we can exit this menu
This is how Bypass mode looks like - in this mode you will get maximum wattage and maximum voltage to your atomizer
In this case it's 8.17V
Next mode is TCR
TC for SS - here we have another options to set wattage for TC
Let's get back to Power mode - this mode will be enough for us
This is how display look like when it's set and ready.
As you can see resistance of the atomizer and voltage is displayed
When you press Fire button that speedometer show our Wattage
Okay folks, it's everything i could tell you about this box mod but i had some issue with it
With that Red version
In the moment when i wanted to update the firmware of this Presale sample and put MicroUSB in it
I got short-circuit in USB slot
And as consequence i got burned out Micro USB slot
Now i can charge it nor update the firmware
It happened in one second - i plugged the cable in the slot, it starts to smoke, i unplugged the cable and on the cable there is a little plastic left
A piece of connector melted
Sadly
After this happened i decided to test this box mod. To take a risk, as the saying goes.
I thought i will be left with no box mods at all but i couldn't not to test it
Though with this mod everything is okay - it survived plugging in the Micro USB cable and as you can see it is charging as well as firmware update was successful
So folks, that kind of adventure i had with this box mod. I hope yours wont have this kind of issue
Vobshem
Thanks for your attention in close up
Let's roll and It's time for face-time where we will talk about its pros and cons
Ladushki
Okay folks, it's time to talk about this box mod pros and cons
And traditionally we start with cons
First con i'll give for dead Micro USB slot. Weird thing happened.
I didn't expect that and prifigel(was surprised).
I'm plugging the cable and all this slot starts to smolder and smoke. Unplugged and left with half of a USB slot.
Not good. And it's a major con.
I don't want this to happen to people who actually bought this device
I recommend to Modefined to draw their attention to this. I hope they will enable subtitles.
Next con i'll give for display. For small font to be exact. All the letters and numbers are really small.
There is a lot of free space but guys from Modefined is decided to limit it all with that speedometer
I'm strongly recommend to make another theme with big letters and numbers, since the firmware update is available.
So the people won't have to use magnifier to see what's going on in menu. Dont forget - not everyone have perfect vision and they are vapers too.
Nitpicking.
First nitpick is for Bypass mode.
In this box mod we have series connection of batteries
So when you put your atomizer and accidentally switch to Bypass mode you will get 8.2-8.4V on your coils
For the most of average builds this voltage is critical. You will get burn hit immediately
I want to give a recommendation to Modefined again do a small modification
Since there is a chip in this box mod - give people a choice in Bypass mode - 4.2V and 8.4V
Anyone who likes high-volt will use 8.4V, who doesnt - will use 4.2V
It would be awesome
But right now since there is no such choice - it's a nitpick
Another nitpick and request to Modefined - this Fire button is very small and since it's centered i want it to be bigger and always under the finger
She's slippery and protrudes a little bit, but i want it to be bigger. It's my opinion and my personal request - make it bigger
I'm done with nitpicking and cons and it's time to talk about pros
Po chesnoku(frankly)
I like the Ultem version. If you additionally insert full black wrap batteries - it looks awesome
Especially if you screw down some ultem cap RDA or RTA - it will be gorgeous
So yeah - i like this box mod with Ultem body
Next pro i'll give for familiar form-factor. It's rounded, no sharp edges - it's a pleasure to hold this box mod in hand
Another pro goes for fitting large diameter atomizers up to 28mm
It's great. Universality is always welcome
Next pro goes to chip. It works great, in Power mod - godlike. When you press the button - reaction is instant.
Easy to use menu. If it has bigger font though
Also this mod have firmware update option
Another BIG request to Modefined - remove that 0.1ohm limitation. Make 0.08ohm limitation at least.
Because if we installing 0.1ohm build before glowing it's reading at 0.08-0.09ohm
So you won't be able to glow them on this box mod because we have 0.1ohm limitation
And i hope guys from Modefined will listen to my requests and will be able to fix something in next firmware update
Not getting away from pros.
Next pro i'll give for the battery door. It is durable, reliable and sits firmly. So it's a pro.
And last pro i'll give for good assembly quality. Nothing wobbles, nothing rattles. This device feels like monolith in hands. Nothing interrupts you from using it.
Regarding kit tank.
Con for non-standard drip tip. If you lose it - you won't be able to use this tank at all because of that.
I hope in their next devices they will come to some standard.
Of pros - top fill, good 5ml capacity, using of common coil heads - you can also use SMOK coil heads. And this is good.
The price. After browsing the web i found 45$ price tag.
It's for box mod alone - i think it's great price for a box mod like that one.
But only in case if Modefined will fix this moments. Especially the ones we cannot fix by ourselves with the help of firmware update.
Overall it's a good box mod that i can recommend and i hope you will like it as well
Leave a comment - what do you think about box mod with Ultem body - do you like it or not. It will be interesting to read
I want to say big thanks to Modefined for sending me this devices for this review
