thing in tonight Straight Razor Edge Friday Special: Different Strokes for

Different Folks! Big shout out to John for sending me a link to the stone

holder it is brilliant I think I'm gonna really enjoy it thank you so much really

appreciate you now this is a Shapton 12k and it is a ceramic stone so all we have

to do is get it wet it doesn't have to be soaking so we're going to get that

wet and then we're going to go through some different strokes for different

folks all right here we go now got that nice and wet now the first stroke my

favorite is the half stroke so that's back and forth like this alright and

what I try to do is I hold my elbow up to keep my elbow or to keep the razor

flat you keep your elbow up alright so you go like this back and forth on one

side and you go back and forth on the other side just as the same now what I'm

doing here you want to do the same amount of reps on each side and you want

to try to hold that stone and blade flat so we're going to have these spine and

the edge on the stone at the same time yeah this is called a half stroke

this is one of my favorites because I believe it is the quickest to do a razor

with and it really cuts quick now next up there's the axe stroke which is just

yeah go up and it's just repeated back and forth like this and then I would do

the other side and again these are axe strokes so I'm trying to keep that razor

in contact with the blade as far across this stone as I can okay because I'm

gonna try to get all of that blade at the same time that way I don't wear out

part of the blade more than the other part so that's the axe stroke now the next

one that we're going to do here is called the stropping stroke so that is

like this okay you can do like that you can do like this and basically we are

just doing a edge trailing stroke like that okay and this can be good I think

the axe stroke where is edge leading well it cleans the edge better but I

think it's been very well vary from person to person and stone to stone so

this is the stropping stroke ok now one of the strokes that a lot of

people use which I really don't so much is the kind of circle or oval stroke

like this and you just work your way down on the stone and you can do this

for me I just don't find it as efficient for

what I do but you can always do it and if this works for you go for it okay

this is that's the most important thing whatever works for you if you go for

what works for you you're in business okay now one of the things I've found

that I really enjoy with that's very simular okay it's not a circle stroke

it's very similar which could be helpful is I do these mini-half strokes and I work my

way down that stone like this okay and the way that works is I'm using most of

the stone when I'm doing it and instead of it being a circle this is pretty much

straight on a half stroke which works really well yeah and for me again the

half strokes are the most aggressive and take the least amount I do do so this is

a fabulous little mini-half stroke that you can do that works quite well all

right just like that now if you have a razor that's not quite straight or has a

smiling blade that kind of thing then what you would do is you put down the

heel first and you would roll like that you'd roll it now this one is flat so I

really can't do it but you put down the heel first and then you roll okay

across that stone like that and what will happen is you'll be able to get

that edge now what I would do is I would I actually torque towards the blade

it slightly it's like not a lot just a little torque and then as you're moving

that blade across that stone what's happening is it is actually going to do

a much better job than you know anything else so this is the rolling x-stroke you

hold down the heel and you totque it a little bit towards the blade and then

you twist and drag that blade and your lift up on that heel to get the toe okay

and if you had a smiling blade or something this would be one of the

strokes you would need if you have a blade that is twisted this may be very

helpful for that as well okay so there you go and then you've got the x-stroke

which are like this I actually don't like that simply because the whole edge is

not on the stone now if you had a really small stone that may work for you and

that would just be the regular x-stroke like this okay what I normally do for my

x-stroke is I do the axe stroke in the x-stroke method keeping the whole blade on

the stone hopefully you found that helpful and if I missed a stroke that

you normally use when you are honing your straight razor go ahead and put it

in the comments so we can find out what it is and you can click right up here to

La-La Land Crafts New release with Copic Coloring Tutorial - Duration: 12:05.

hi welcome to Hedgehog Hollow, today Tilly and I are celebrating the new la-la-land

release and we're going to be showing you how to create this new heads-up card

using kopecks and lots of coloring techniques don't forget to also check

out next week will be hopping with the la-la-land team and showing you the

woodland critters set as well so we've love to show you today so let's get

started

today I'm using the new la-la-land crass website it's actually on the wrong

backer but I just love this new stamp set that they've got with the heads up

and the long necks on there and I knew I just wanted to do something with their

necks sticking out of my card so I've stopped this out and you saw there in

the introduction that I used mass to stamp them so I work out I always want

to stamp with Mar starting at the front I used the LDRs marking paper it's much

much thicker lasting much longer when you make those masks compared to some of

the others that I've tried it's actually got more of a thin cardstock feel but

enough that you can get a really good image so I cut the masks out with my

scanning cut because I can get a really nice tight cut compared to cutting with

the coordinating dies so for all my mouth always cut with the scanning cut

and then you work out who you want at the front so I wanted my ostrich at the

front and then I stamped my other guys and then I put my masks over and then I

just keep building the image so one thing I sometimes do is pop my mouth

down pop my stamps down work out where I want everything to go take a snap with

my iPhone and then you start at the front and work your way backwards so as

you can see here I started with the ostrich eye stunt the giraffe at one end

then I stamped that crocodile in the middle then I popped his mask on and did

the ostrich at the top there then for the other side I left the ostrich mask

on there and then I would have stamped the giraffe at the other end so you can

see him over there so and then I would have done the meerkat and then I would

have done the giraffe as well so now we're going to start coloring our little

scene here so the first you want to do I'm coloring with Copic markers and you

want to make sure that you put something porous underneath your cardstock to

absorb any ink that goes anywhere our first layer and you can see all the

colors on your screen needs to saturate your cardstock I'm working on express it

cardstock I stamped these using the lawn fawn alcohol ink friendly ink which I'll

link up in the description for you so you can see that my base layer has a

really nice outline so you can see the outline on the reverse side that means

you have down the perfect base coat then I'm going to

start working I put the lot darkest color down freeze little and freckles or

spots they're on his face and then I work for my medium tone go back to my

lighter tone blend that out then go back in with my darker tone so I tend to go

with three to four colors depending on the image that I'm working with and I

wanted to make sure that he really kind of looked like he was peeking out at you

from that card doesn't it may be mischievous so then I then laid another

base coat down on the neck I did the same I did that darker color in there on

the rest of the giraffe and I added some shadows around those freckles just to

make them really pop out so super simple coloring you also notice I added some

extra details in the ears there so I started at the top of the ear and

flicked down with those darker colors ready to make them look as though

they're curling around now your i'm going to take you through the rest of

the coloring i'm going i have spread it up but i've also put the colors on the

screen that i use as well so feel free to pause it you to does also have a

function to slow it down so you can go at half speed if you want to see more

depth of the tutorial

so I really had fun at coloring those in I'm now taking some other Copic white

and I'm using a micro brush to get a really nice round dot I find that much

easier than using the just the the regular brush that comes in there so

I'll link those up for you you also saw I made a mistake on one eye so you could

just kind of rub it and then I just put some Copic over the top and redid it so

here I am outlining my image using a Sukkah Neko pen again I'll link this up

for it's a really nice set comes with a thicker and a thinner now the reason

that I did that was because I wanted to cut these out with the scabbing cut so

you can see now here I've cut them out with a scanning cut and I'm finishing it

during the black lining and the reason I did that was so that they show behind a

beautiful background I'm going to use one of the la-la-land ones you'll also

notice that I tied up two of the characters there that giraffe on the

right hand side before I cut him out I put a line to the meerkat so that he

wasn't cut out independently it cut it all as one piece which is what you can

see here I've used this gorgeous new spotty background from la-la-land as

well and I stamped that using the hero arts shadow ink in the soft granite and

I stamped it so far on just a quarter piece of Neenah solar white and used my

Tim Holtz platform as you saw in the introduction and I'm actually going to

trim it down to full card front matted size which for me would be 4 inches by

five and a quarter so I always remove about a quarter of an inch from each

matting layer so this one would be four by five and a quarter the next time be

three and three quarters by five inches and so on and so on that gives you a

really nice border as well so in mind down with the new Tim Holtz guillotine I

really like this one that tonic sent me because I can cut a shape

eight-and-a-half by eleven on quite a small piece of cardstock sorry size of

guillotine so I really like that fact it's nice and compact as well a lovely

and sharp so on here I'm going to be mounting this onto my card base again a

sheet of Neenah eight and a half by eleven cut length ways this is actually

the Desert Storm so it's a crafty colored cardstock I do normally use my

score body but I do find that on the deserts

I don't get the amount of cracking that I get with the white don't know if

that's something to do with the treatment process but just firmed it up

there my fingers and then if you don't have a bone folder a pen or anything as

long as I use the tips of scissors depends on what I'm doing so I'm going

to stick this piece on using my tonic funky tape as always to stick it on to

my card base and then we're going to be sticking on the animals and for that I'm

going to be using my 3m big roll of foam tape and I love this so anything I cut

strips and then anything else I if I have any left over you can see that it

goes on the side of the roll and that keeps it nice and sticky so I like to

cut one long strip and then trim as necessary on their heads I've got some

smaller pieces of the foam tape that I'm sticking on there and that's just to

keep their heads up so you can trim it down I'm using again the Tim Holtz

scissors because they're a nonstick scissors and they're perfect for cutting

through tape they're not going to get all stuck and gummed up and they're

really great for cutting down adhesives and things

so now that I've peeled those off I've stuck those down onto my card front and

they look super super cute and here I've taken the keep your head up sentiment

from the la-la-land stamp set I'm just going to stamp it out using black ink

and then trim it using my Tim Holtz guillotine so again you can see I line

up there's that guide there that plastic guide I've got my fingers on I line up

my sentiment along there cut that edge that means that that is just straight

and then I just keep rotating at 90 degrees until I've gone all the way

around you can see that I really can cut really slim pieces as well and you can

trim it down even thinner if you need to you can also see how is playing around

using the sentiment in different places on the card that's just part of my

process sometimes I go in but the sample I know exactly what I'm gonna make this

one was just one that was playing around having fun with and it came out really

really well so again a little bit of foam tape that I've trimmed down and

popped that on the corner of a card absolutely love how it came down came

out I hope you love it too don't forget to hop with us next week with the long

island team as well I'll be sharing another card using one of the new

releases I just absolutely adore this I can't wait to send it out to someone and

don't forget to hit that subscribe button if you're not already subscribed

to Hedgehog Hollow we'd love to have you back here

again plus do you give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed this video or found some of

the techniques and tips useful and I will see you again very soon all your

Gone away Gonna fade

Let me charge my phone Roll away on a way on a wave

Yea we hit the road Cause tonight we can let go

For a week or so We got all the shit we need

We're on 10 every day It aint nothing new

Iced tea lemonade for me and the crew Throw the night away

Shoot us through the moon You'll just have to drive through

And my momma don't know what I need When my daddy left me with the keys

So goddamn I'm ballin' like a man I'm sitting shotgun in a six wheel van

We're on our way though In a winnebago

We'll reserve you a table And some jumper cables

Putting gas in the tank Got me acting rude

Mary Jane in the back And she in the mood

We aint got a plan That shit hit the fan

Aint nobody having fun like we do And my momma don't know what I need

When my daddy left me with the keys So goddamn I'm ballin' like a man

I'm sitting shotgun in a six wheel van We're on our way though

In a winnebago We'll reserve you a table

And some jumper cables

And my momma don't know what I need When my daddy left me with the keys

Professor Trolls Barbara Bush's Death - Duration: 12:17.

A

FRESNO STATE UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR IS DEALING WITH A

FIRESTORM FOLLOWING WHAT SHE PUT UP ON TWITTER IN REGARD TO

BARBARA BUSH PASSING AWAY.

I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU HER TWEETS AND

THEN WE WILL DISCUSS WHETHER OR NOT SHE SHOULD KEEP HER JOB,

KEEP IN MIND, FRESNO STATE IS PART OF THE CSU SYSTEM IN

CALIFORNIA STATE MEANING IT IS A PUBLICLY FUNDED INSTITUTION AND

SHE IS A TENURED PROFESSOR BUT HERE'S WHAT SHE HAD TO SAY.

HER

NAME IS RANDA JARRAR.

YOU KIND OF UNDERSTAND WHERE SHE SAT.

SHE IS NOT REALLY

BUYING ALL OF THE REST IN PEACE TWEETS THAT FOLLOWED NEWS OF HER

PASSING.

THEN SHE SAID:

SO PEOPLE DID NOT LIKE WHAT SHE HAD TO SAY, AND IT LED TO

TWITTER OUTRAGE WHICH IS COMMON WITH TWITTER.

PEOPLE ARE

OUTRAGED

ABOUT EVERYTHING.

SO TENURED PROFESSORS USUALLY DO HAVE MORE PROTECTION AND THE

WHOLE PURPOSE FOR THAT IS SO THEY CAN DO SOME ACADEMIC

RESEARCH THAT COULD BE CONTROVERSIAL.

THEY DO NOT WANT

TO LOSE THEIR JOBS IF THEY WANT TO DIP THEIR TOE AND SOMETHING

CONTROVERSIAL, THE SHE IS SAYING, I HAVE PROTECTION.

THIS

IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

BUT OFFICIALS AT THE UNIVERSITY DIDN'T REALLY RESPOND IN A

WAY THAT MAKES ME COMFORTABLE WHEN IT COMES TO PROTECTING

HER FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

I WILL GET TO THEN JUST A SECOND, BUT I DO WANT TO

TALK TO YOU AND GET SOME INITIAL THOUGHTS.

WHY ARE PEOPLE UPSET?

A COUPLE OF REASONS, MOST OF THEM ILLEGITIMATE.

NUMBER ONE,

BARBARA BUSH IS CONSIDERED GENTEEL APPARENTLY AND SO HOW

COULD YOU DO THIS TO THIS POOR WOMAN?

SHE HAD VERY GOOD REASON TO NOT LIKE BARBARA BUSH.

I WAS NOT A

FAN OF BARBARA BUSH WHEN SHE WAS ALIVE FOR REASONS THAT WE ARE

GOING TO SHARE WITH YOU, QUOTES OF BARBARA BUSH AND WHAT SHE

SAID ABOUT OTHER HUMAN BEINGS.

THE SECOND REASON IS YOU ARE NOT

SUPPOSED TO SPEAK ILL OF THE DEAD.

I DO NOT KNOW WHO MADE

THE ROLE, I DON'T BELIEVE IT AND SO WHEN BAD GUYS DIE, I DO

NOT CARE, CRITICIZE THEM TOO.

LET'S PLEASE MENTION WHAT THE MASSIVE CAVIAR IS WHEN IT

COMES TO THOSE MAKING THE ARGUMENT IN REGARD TO NOT

SPEAKING ILL OF THE DEAD.

RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE COUNTLESS PEOPLE

WHO ARE TORN APART, SMEARED, AND SPOKEN ABOUT AS IF THEY ARE

ABSOLUTE CRIMINALS FOLLOWING THEIR DEATH THAT WAS CAUSED BY A

COP SHOOTING THEM WHILE THEY WERE UNARMED.

SO WE SPEAK ILL

OF THE DEAD IN THIS COUNTRY ON A REGULAR BASIS, AND A DAILY BASIS

AND MY GUESS IS, THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE DEFENDING BARBARA BUSH

AND SAYING THAT THEY ARE VERY OFFENDED BY THIS ARE THE SAME

PEOPLE WILL LOOK AT SOMEONE LIKE TAMIR RICE AND SAY HE IS PLAYING

WITH A TOY GUN THAT LOOK LIKE A BROKEN SO HE DESERVED TO DIE OR

THE PEOPLE WHO LOOK AT MICHAEL BROWN ARE A BUNCH OF OTHER

PEOPLE WHO WERE SHOT AND KILLED BY COPS AND MENTION THINGS LIKE,

HE SMOKED POT ONCE IN HIS LIFE OR TWICE IN HIS LIFE.

HE

DESERVED IT.

WE GET THAT ALL THE TIME SO SPEAKING ILL OF THE

DEAD IS AN AMERICAN PASTIME AT THIS POINT.

I'M NOT BUYING THAT.

THAT IS A GREAT POINT AND I HADN'T THOUGHT ABOUT IN THAT

CONTEXT.

ANYONE WHO DID NOT SPEAK OF ILL OF MICHAEL BROWN

HER TRIP ON MARTIN MAYBE HAS A LEG TO STAND ON.

ALL OF THOSE

COMMENTERS, NONE OF THEM SPOKE ILL OF ANY OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO

WERE SHOT BY COPS?

PLEASE.

THIS IS SELECTIVE, YOU CAN SPEAK OF THE DEAD IF THEY

ARE THE OTHERS, IF THEY ARE BLACK, IF THEY ARE PROGRESSIVES,

ANYONE THAT YOU DON'T ASSOCIATE WITH BUT IF IT IS YOUR PEOPLE,

HOW DARE YOU, BY THE WAY, ONE OF THE REASONS EVERYONE IS

OUTRAGEOUS BECAUSE BARBARA BUSH IS PART OF THE CLUB.

SHE WAS

FOR THE CLUBS EVERYONE KNEW HER AND EVERYONE ON TV WAS LIKE I DO

DECLARE, BARBARA BUSH WAS SUCH A LOVELY PERSON.

NO, SHE WASN'T

THAT SHE WAS GENERALLY MEAN-SPIRITED.

I WILL GIVE YOU

THE QUOTES TO PRIVETTE.

NO, I WILL GIVE THE QUOTES RIGHT NOW

AND THEN WE WILL TALK ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY'S REACTIONS.

WHEN

ASKED ABOUT THE IRAQ WAR, THE ONE THAT THE PROFESSOR HERE

ALLUDED TO, SHE SAID WHY SHOULD WE HEAR ABOUT BODY BAGS AND

DEATHS?

IT IS NOT RELEVANT.

SO WHY SHOULD I WASTE MY BEAUTIFUL MIND ON SOMETHING

LIKE THAT?

I WOULD ARGUE THAT SOMEONE WHO WOULD MAKE A STATEMENT

LIKE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A BEAUTIFUL MIND.

HER SON LAUNCHED THE INVASION OF IRAQ.

THERE ARE DIFFERING

NUMBERS BUT THEY ARE ALL AT A MINIMUM IN THE HUNDREDS AND

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, AS HIGH AS ONE AND HALF MILLION

CIVILIANS KILLED AND BARBARA BUSH, WHEN ASKED, YOUR SON DID

THIS THING AND IT WOUND UP GETTING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE

KILLED, HER ANSWER BASICALLY WAS, THEY WEREN'T ME, WHERE

THEY?

I AM STILL RICH AND POWERFUL, I STILL GO TO THE SAME COCKTAIL

PARTIES WITH ALL THE PEOPLE ON TV AND THE POLITICIANS.

WE'RE

STILL LIVING A GRAND LIFE, IT DID NOT BOTHER MY BEAUTIFUL MIND

AT

ALL THAT YOUR FAMILY WAS MURDERED.

IT DID NOT BOTHER ME

AT ALL, MY SON DROPPED A BOMB ON THEM.

IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE SHE

IS SPEAKING ILL OF THE DEAD.

INTERESTING.

SO THEN THERE WAS THE INFAMOUS QUOTE IN REGARD TO SOME

OF THE REFUGEES AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA.

LET'S GO TO GRAPHIC 75.

SHE DID NOT CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL.

YOU WANT TO TALK

ABOUT PRIVILEGED, ELITE, SPOILED PERSON WHO COULD NOT CARE

LESS AND HAD NO EMPATHY.

I'M SORRY, AM I SPEAKING ILL OF THE DEAD?

ON THE DAY SHE DIED, WE DID NOT DO IT AND I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING

ABOUT IT, BUT NOW YOU WERE GOING TO GO AND TRY TO TAKE SOMEONE'S

TENURE AWAY BECAUSE THEY ARE SAYING THINGS THAT IF THEY HAD

SAID THEM A DAY AGO, YOU WOULD'VE HAD A DEBATE OVER IT

BUT NOBODY WOULD'VE GOTTEN FIRED.

NOW YOUR BS RULED THAT

YOU APPLY ONLY FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND ONLY PEOPLE ON YOUR

POLITICAL SIDE OF THE AISLE SPEAKING OLD THE DEAD, NOW

LISTEN SHE IS A MONSTER.

NO, BARBARA BUSH IS THAT I DO NOT

CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE, AND NO ONCE ABOUT THEIR MY BEAUTIFUL

MIND WITH THE MOTIVES OF PEOPLE WHO ARE DEAD, I WOULD ARGUE SAID

FAR, FAR WORSE THAN THIS PROFESSOR.

I WOULD NOT

PERSONALLY HANDLE THE TWEETS THE WAY SHE DID, BUT JUST BECAUSE I

DID NOT LIKE THAT TONE DOES NOT MEAN THAT I AM GOING TO ADVOCATE

FOR HER GETTING FIRED.

I HAVE A LOT OF PRIDE IN THE CSU SYSTEM

AND IF SHE LOSES HER TENURE GETS FIRED I WILL FEEL A LOT OF SHAME

BECAUSE SHE HAS A CREATIVE WRITING PROFESSOR THAT THE

STUDENTS LOVE AND SHE DID NOT LIE ABOUT ANYTHING ON TWITTER.

SHE TWEETED SOMETHING DURING HER PRIVATE TIME.

SHE DID NOT SAY

THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CLASSROOM AND SO YOU GET TO

DISAGREE WITH HER.

IF YOU LOVE TO BARBARA BUSH AND YOU DIDN'T

LIKE HER TONE, YOU CAN DISAGREE WITH HER, I GET IT.

BUT TRYING

TO GET HER FIRED IS ESPECIALLY HYPOCRITICAL WHEN THE

CONVERSATION INVOLVING UNIVERSITIES RIGHT NOW IS ABOUT

FREE SPEECH.

ANYTIME YOU HEAR ABOUT UNIVERSITIES THESE DAYS IT

IS CONSERVATIVES LOSING THEIR MIND BECAUSE THEY THINK FREE

SPEECH IS BEING VIOLATED ON CAMPUSES.

THIS IS A PUBLICLY

FUNDED, PUBLIC UNIVERSITY AND SO I REALLY HOPE THAT THE

ADMINISTRATORS DON'T BECOME COMPLETE COWARDS AND TURN THEIR

BACKS ON THIS PROFESSOR BECAUSE THERE IS ALL THIS PRESSURE TO

FIRE HER.

LET'S GO TO WHAT THE INITIAL RESPONSE WAS FROM THE

UNIVERSITY.

GRAPHIC 72.

I'M SURE THERE WAS A LOT OF

PRESSURE TO GO AFTER HER IN A

MORE AGGRESSIVE WAY, AND SO:

IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER OR NOT

THEY ARE GOING TO FIRE HER, BUT

THEY ARE DOING SO MUCH DAMAGE CONTROL, IT IS A LITTLE

LAUGHABLE.

UNIVERSITIES TWITTER ACCOUNT ALSO TWEETED THAT THEY

ARE FLYING THE FLAG AT HALF STAFF IN MEMBER MEMORY OF FORMER

FIRST LADY BARBARA BUSH.

I'M FINE WITH THAT, THEY WANT TO DO

THAT, I'M GLAD THEY'RE DOING IT BUT IT JUST SEEMED LIKE A LOT OF

DAMAGE CONTROL FOLLOWING ALL OF THIS CONTROVERSY.

THE, THAT IS

MOST DAMNING IS GRAPHIC 70.

NO, THAT IS NOT BEYOND FREE-SPEECH.

FREE SPEECH IS NOT MEANT TO PROTECT INOFFENSIVE SPEECH.

NOBODY IS EVER GOING TO SAY YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY HAPPY

BIRTHDAY.

YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY HAVE A NICE DAY.

THAT IS

NOT OFFENSIVE TO ANYONE.

THE POINT OF FREE SPEECH AND TENURE

IS TO PROTECT POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE SPEECH SO YOU DO NOT

UNDERSTAND THAT, YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOUR JOB.

LUCKILY

BEN SHAPIRO IS ON THE CASE HERE, HE IS LEADING PROTESTER PERFECT

PROTECT THE PROFESSOR BECAUSE HE AND HIS FOLLOWERS CARE SO MUCH

ABOUT FREE SPEECH ON CAMPUS AND CROWDER IS THERE AND THEY'RE

LIKE GO LET'S GO, WE LOVE FREE-SPEECH, RIGHT?

OH NO, THEY'RE NOT LEADING THAT PROTEST?

THAT IS SO WEIRD.

I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE FREE-SPEECH

ADVOCATES.

LET ME ASK YOU SOMETHING.

IS IT OFFENSIVE TO HAVE SOMEONE

LIKE

ANN COULTER ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS WHO HAS ESSENTIALLY SAID THAT

IMMIGRANTS WHO TRY TO CROSS THE BORDER AND IN LATER GET RAPED BY

OUR BORDER PATROL AGENTS PROBABLY DESERVED IT BECAUSE

THEY TRIED TO CROSS INTO THE UNITED STATES ILLEGALLY.

IS THAT OKAY?

WE HAVE FOUGHT FOR THAT TYPE OF SPEECH TO STILL OCCUR ON

PUBLIC CAMPUSES BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IN FREE SPEECH, SO

WHETHER IT COMES TO BEN SHAPIRO OR ANN COULTER, LET THEM SPEAK.

LET THEM DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO, JUST DON'T SHOW UP

TO THEIR SPEECHES SHOW THEM HOW UNPOPULAR THEIR IDEAS ARE

BUT THEY WOULD NEVER DO THE SAME FOR A PROFESSOR LIKE THIS.

SPARE US YOUR CROCODILE TEARS ABOUT FREE SPEECH WHEN THE

MINUTE YOU ARE OFFENDED, WHAT YOU NEED?

CONSERVATIVES, WHAT YOU NEED?

YOU NEED A SAFE SPACE, RIGHT?

BECAUSE YOU ARE A SPECIAL LITTLE SNOWFLAKE WHO GOT TRIGGERED

ABOUT COMMENTS ABOUT BARBARA BUSH.

LET'S CALL IT WHAT IT IS

AND BY THE WAY, IF YOU ARE A STUDENT AT FRESNO STATE, UNDER

NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU LET HER GET FIRED.

YOU SHOULD DO

PROTESTS ON TOP OF PROTEST TO PROTECT HER RIGHTS TO SAY

THINGS THAT ARE ACTUALLY TRUE ABOUT BARBARA BUSH AND

DON'T LET THESE COWARDS SAY IF IT IS OFFENSIVE, THEN I DO

NOT KNOW IF IT IS FREE SPEECH OR IF YOUR TENURE IS PROTECTED.

OF COURSE IT IS, THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF TENURE.

Democrats To Introduce Bill To Legalize Marijuana - Duration: 4:20.

CHUCK SCHUMER HAS OR IS PLANNING ON INTRODUCING

LEGISLATION THAT WOULD MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL ON A FEDERAL

LEVEL.

WHAT?

THIS IS A STORY THAT VICE NEWS BROKE BECAUSE HE DECIDED TO

TAKE THIS NEWS TO VICE, BUT THEY DID FILM A VIDEO OF THIS

AND I WANT TO HEAR FROM SCHUMER, MAKE YOUR CASE.

LET'S WATCH THE.

I'LL BE INTRODUCING LEGISLATION TO DECRIMINALIZE

MARIJUANA AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL FROM ONE END OF THE COUNTRY TO

THE OTHER.

THE LEGISLATION IS LONG OVERDUE BASED ON, YOU KNOW,

BUNCH OF DIFFERENT FACTS.

I'VE SEEN TOO MANY PEOPLE'S LIVES

RUINS BECAUSE THEY HAD SMALL AMOUNTS OF MARIJUANA AND SERVED

TIME IN JAIL MUCH TOO LONG.

ULTIMATELY, IT'S THE RIGHT THING

TO DO.

FREEDOM.

IS SMOKING MARIJUANA DOESN'T HURT ANYBODY

ELSE, WHY SHOULD WE ALLOW PEOPLE TO DO IT AND NOT MAKE IT

CRIMINAL?

NOW HE WAS PREVIOUSLY VERY HESITANT TO ATTEMPT TO MAKE

MARIJUANA LEGAL ON A FEDERAL LEVEL.,

BACK IN 2014, WHILE BEING INTERVIEWED BY MSNBC, HE

SAID THAT IT IS A TOUGH ISSUE.

WE TALK ABOUT THE COMPARISONS ALCOHOL AND OBVIOUSLY,

ALCOHOL IS LEGAL AND I'M HARDLY A PROHIBITIONIST, BUT IT

DOES A LOT OF DAMAGE.

HE SAID HE WANTED TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THINGS PLAYED OUT

ON THE STATE LEVEL, MAKE SURE THAT THERE AREN'T ANY

NEGATIVE RAMIFICATIONS TO LEGALIZING AND THEN HE WENT

BACK LEGALIZING IT ON A FEDERAL LEVEL.

AND HE WANTED TO WAIT UNTIL THE DEMOCRATS WERE OUT OF

POWER AND THEY REALLY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

WHAT DID THE YOUNG KIDS LIKE THESE DAYS?

WE HAVE TO GET THE YOUNG KIDS BACK ON OUR TEAM.

THAT IS RIGHT.

THEN THEY WILL VOTE FOR US.

WHEN WE GET BACK INTO POWER,

WILL WE ACTUALLY DO IT?

NO, WE WILL FIND AN EXCUSE.

THE REPUBLICANS COULD FILIBUSTER US

IN THE SENATE AND SINCE THE REPUBLICANS HAVE 41 SENATORS,

THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD DO.

LET'S BE FAIR.

LET'S GET BOTH

SIDES.

WHEN PEOPLE SWITCH THEIR MINDS AND COME TO THE RIGHT

POSITION, THAT IS WONDERFUL.

SO I LIKE THAT CHUCK SCHUMER IS

PUTTING THIS BILL FORWARD.

I THINK IT IS A GOOD STATEMENT AND

I'M GLAD HE IS INVOLVED ON THE ISSUE.

I DO NOT WANT TO

MINIMIZE THAT BUT I HAVE TO GIVE YOU ALL CONTEXT ON IT BUT AT THE

END OF THE DAY, THANK YOU, GOOD, WONDERFUL.

WE WILL TAKE IT.

BUT YES, I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE THIS JUST A

LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO WHEN OBAMA WAS THE PRESIDENT.

HE

COULD'VE UNILATERALLY SAID THAT, FOR EXAMPLE, MARIJUANA IS NOT A

SCHEDULE ONE DRUG ANYMORE.

HE CHOSE NOT TO DO IT, SCHUMER

CHOSE NOT TO EVOLVE THEN.

HE IS CHOOSING TO EVOLVE NOW ENTER

TRUMP SO THAT HE CAN GET YOUNG VOTERS TO VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS AND

THIS IS THE TIRED GAME THE DEMOCRATS PLAY, WHERE THEY ARE

ALWAYS GOING, LITTLE FURTHER, LITTLE FURTHER, VOTE FOR US

ONE MORE TIME.

THEY ARE DOING THE SAME THING WITH DACA.

THEY COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT, THEY COULD'VE

HELD THE BUDGET AND THEY CHOSE NOT TO AND THEY SAY,

A LITTLE FURTHER AND VOTE FOR US ONE MORE TIME, THEN WE WILL

FIGHT FOR DACA AND IT IS EXHAUSTING.

WHEN IT COMES TO DEMOCRATS SPECIFICALLY, WHAT I'VE NOTICED

IS IF IT IS AN ISSUE THAT IS NOT BEING PUSHED BY POLITICAL

DONORS, THEY WILL KEEP AN EYE ON POLLS AND THEY WILL MAKE SURE

THAT POLL IS NEARLY UNANIMOUS BEFORE THEY ACT SO IF YOU LOOK

AT POLLING IN REGARDS TO LEGALIZING MARIJUANA THE

MAJORITY OF AMERICANS DO WANT TO LEGALIZW IT EVEN IF THEY HAVE NO

INTEREST IN USING IT THEMSELVES.

I THINK THE ISSUE IS DOING THIS FOR POLITICAL REASONS.

I

THINK HE IS DOING IT BECAUSE IT IS A SAFE THING TO DO BUT

STILL, I WILL TAKE IT.

What is wrong with the Sony A7 III - Duration: 23:32.

hey Peter Gregg Miami Florida welcome to the Christmas room sit back relax you

are about to watch a Peter Gregg video something warm human and wonderful

happens when you watch Peter Gregg here we are guys this is like an update to

the Sony A7 Mark III today we're gonna pick on it a little bit not that I don't

like the camera not that I'm having an agenda you know like a political agenda

like I'm a Canon guy and I want to knock Sony down

I prefer Canon / Sony I have said that up front a thousand times there's

reasons for that but the best camera for me right at the moment is the Sony so

I've had experience with the Sony A7r Mark III I've had it in here for a month and now

I've got the A9 in here it's gonna be almost a month and you know what I wound

up buying the Sony A7 Mark III so is the Sony A7 Mark III worth buying yeah it really is if

you start comparing it with some of the other stuff now everybody needs to pick

the camera that is tailored to them is suited to them and unless you're a

camera hunter because many of us are camera hunters we just think I forgot to

turn that light on somebody has to teach me what to do so remember to turn this

light on because I would say 5 out of 10 videos I forget to turn the light on it

does give me a chance to show off the fact that this my Sony will focus I'll

walk around and guess what I have freedom to move about the captain I mean

the cabin the captain that's right let's do that again I have the freedom to move

about the cabin the captain has turned off the no-smoking sign and the fasten

seatbelt signs but I don't think you could smoke on complains anymore I'm not

a smoker ste enough to worry about that so I'm coming over here to say hi to

Jingles but I don't know where he is it's not nighttime the afternoon so

Jingles should be right here Jingle Bells should be sitting right

here where is thatJingle Bells he's not taking the bait Jingles come

over here come on yeah he doesn't listen either oh yes he does come up here come

on up here we belong people want to see you so I'm just showing off right now

guys I'm not wasting time I want you to see that the autofocus on this little

camera works and it works really well probably works better than the A9 for

videos and tracking you know why I say that it's I'm not clobbering the A9

I'm not clobbering any camera I'm not a cabin or a clubber but there's there's

channels for that where they get you by being you know hard and coming down on

cameras and telling you why they're terrible nope that's not gonna happen

here but there are features and it seems like every step along the way sony has

refined that's a very nice word right sony has refined from the Sony A9

that came out and it's like wowzer what an amazing camera and then the a7r Mark

3 and we figured oh this one's gonna really you know clobber clobber clobber

not give you much stuff no Sony gave me everything then they came out with the

a7 Mark 3 which is what they call their entry-level I don't know who came up

with that but that guy should be kicked in the butt cuz that was a terrible

thing to tag on to this camera because every youtuber that I've seen that

actually does a review on this says entry-level entry-level I mean come on

it's not an entry level camera if someone said Peter I look under the tree

I'm gonna go over here oh my gosh there's 25 boxes what's in those boxes

this is a story I'm telling you don't lose track of it ok this is pretend well

open two boxes let's see what's in it no no I can't I'm videoing I'm videoing it

ok I'll tell you what's in it each box is a box box of cash cold hard moolah

hundred dollar bills oh well then I'm rich so I said all that to say if

I had a choice between the a9 and the a7 mark 3 which is what you're watching I

didn't even do that part which camera would I pick you're watching the a7 mark

3 iso 640 shutter speed 50 I'm set to 24 P 100 megabits per second row megabytes

per second I have done my white balance with a

better white balance I've done it both ways kind of like for a backup and what

else I'm using an external mic okay so we got caught up 50 millimeter lens set

at 1.4 that's the 50 millimeter 1.4 FE lens Sony Zeiss whatever googly gauch

names all then all the stuff to the equipment down below so you can click on

it not only take my comments you can read other people's comments that's why

I put it down there it's not just so you can buy it you're ready to buy a lens

right now hmm then you know what's the point of putting all the comments that

the links down there it's you can go read the other comments so if somebody

said Peter no money involved you want the a9 or you want the Sony A7 Mark III

I take the Sony A7 Mark III because it's a little bit more refined how is it more

refined alright well let's pick on these cameras a little bit all right

let's stay focused with the Sony A7 Mark III because this is the hot camera this is

what people want to know about why did I pick it how am i doing with it I ready

did a video that said I'm doing really good I'm still doing good but let me

show you some things about the a7 mark 3 that I don't like and this is not like

my top 5 things that I don't like about the a7 mark 3 they do that I do that

it's basically for clickbait because all the Sony people are gonna go in there

and go okay we're gonna prove this guy wrong okay alright one of the major

things is so tiny it's almost not worth mentioning but it can kill your camera

in a heartbeat and I mean dead in its tracks and yet it's so minut I haven't

even mentioned it and I mention everything I don't I'm teasing you

alright here's the thing they got these little things for the straps see these

little things one on this side wiggle-wiggle-wiggle

and then you can do the same thing with a wiggle wiggle it can almost become

mesmerized and some people will be fixated on it I'm just trying to keep it

from touching the body all right those things can cause you a problem how all

right here's the a 9 the a 9s got little secret doors there's one here and it

opens up and I can turn that and there's another one here and it opens up so

another one down here yeah sure is another one down here so these are all

the connections right so on the top in this where my finger is see where my

finger is I'm put it up here so it'll focus up here there is a plug in for the

mic how many of you guys use an external mic now not everybody but a lot of us

will use it sometimes so it's over here well you know what on the Sony A7 Mark III it's

not over here they moved it over here in line with the little Wiggly that you can

tickle tickle right here okay and it's not low it's high and it's metal do you

know on your stereo amplifier the wires that you have to the speakers you know

if you if you strip a wire it's got like a lot of threads in there do you know if

one of those threads touch from the left speaker to the right speaker it'll blow

out your amp it'll just short-circuit your amp just

like that okay now it's not gonna happen every time but most of the time it will

and that's why many times and the new stereos when you turn them on I'm

talking about high-end stereos down ok there'll be a wait time and then

it'll click on it's making sure there's no shorts in the line all right now when

you plug in the plug wrong side now when you plug made me look so smart they're

right when you plug in the plug over here on the Sony A7 Mark III this metal thing

is right in line to tap and touch the metal that you're pushing in the the the

3/8 plug and you can short out your amps your sound will be gone

just like that it's so dumb that could have been lowered by a half of an inch

but it's right there and yes the bottom of this is a hundred percent metal and

the other side is touching the body of the camera that is really a dumb place

to put that it makes me cringe every time I put it in and what if I'm

actually out in the field and I'm shooting and what if it actually pulls

out a little bit on the a7 mark three I can short out my amplifier my audio

system and I'll go like I don't know what happened and then I'll get up on

the forums and go like my sound just stopped well you know why because you

gotta be really careful you don't short it out because it's right there with the

little thing Glee things such as Dingle dangle you know how are your things

Dingle dangle over here doesn't your thing vehicle dangle over here anyway

it's made out of metal I'm playing I understand it trying to keep it

interesting but the point is it could be serious but it's not something you'd

ever really think about so that's one of my biggest complaints the other thing

that I'd have to say can't be qualified or classified as a complaint and the

reason why you can't be classified as a complaint is because it's not anybody's

fault it's just the way things are it's what they call the nature of the beast

and that is that Panasonic what camera is this this is a GH5 this is the

GH4 alright so Panasonic cameras are like cameras that happen to have a electronic

sensor in there a digital sensor Canon is a camera it's really a can

a camera company that went digital Nikon even more I mean those things are like

machines they're gorgeous all right this is the opposite this is kind of like a

computer that you're gonna operate almost like a video game you know or a

piece of software and it happens to take pictures it's the complete opposite is

that a negative thing is it's something that I'm slamming no but here's where it

can go awry and how it's going to act actually bother you in some sense all

right the way it could bother you is that what Sony does is every time they

find something wrong or something that you need they throw something else in

the menu so you need something pertaining to your audio you go to the

audio section of the menu boom you've got a lot of choices video for the

focusing they keep giving you choice after choice but Peter isn't that good

yeah it is to be honest with you it's very good

the trouble is their menus are all scrambled because they just keep piling

it on so you get the good stuff yes but it can be confusing if you get

under pressure like here in the Christmas room I'm free to walk about

and I enjoy doing that because one of the reasons that I picked this camera is

so that I can and because I can I do and I walk around and I'm showing you what

I'm talking about so but isn't that a good thing to be

able to do something like that to you know to fine tune it yeah but I took the

camera with me to Easter to my brother's house and we have a large family and

there were some friends there so what happens is there's a lot of people in

the frame now when there's a lot of people in the frame things can get

confusing right quick now at the house there's not a lot of pressure but what

if you were in a professional environment from the 1970s and 80s I'm a

professional product portrait wedding and event photographer all the way

through film Hasselblads the Rollei SL 66 the Minolta two and a quarter cameras

eventually to the 35 millimeter cameras but I kind of stayed in with the medium

format and boom right around 2000 2001 the Canon dropped the bomb with the D 30

and it's I've had almost every camera ever since D30 D60 10D

20D 30D 40D switched to the one d the 1d Mark III the 1d as the 1DX

all of that and when they were tripping up and Canon did

a hobble I went and added an icon so I have a lot of experience with cameras

all right now this one can be a handful and here's why

all right picture this Rome 1927 no wrong picture all right picture this the

dining room everyone's there for Easter 10-15 people in the room the camera is

going to do face detection great you got any problem with face detection come on

meet me out back well I'll take care of it just showing me okay we'll have an

ice cream lick off all right whoever eats their ice cream first is the loser

all right but anyway the thing is with the autofocus system it's got a priority

on face detection and if I wanted to put a focus on my sister-in-law okay it's

gonna go and focus on my sister-in-law but as soon as other people her children

her husband other people come in and they come around the table the cameras

like oh boy this is like kami all these faces to focus on so it's got all these

focus I want it to focus on that one face okay I wanted to focus on my niece

she was frosting the cupcakes and this is true okay she had baked the cupcakes

they were warm so she left him in the kitchen to cool off and then she brought

him to the table and everybody's around the table and she's now putting the

frosting delicious peanut butter frosting buttercream frosting all right

so I want that to be in focus that's the that's I'm telling the story that's why

you're videoing that's why you take the camera so what are you gonna do you're

gonna tap so the tap is gonna do tap and track but guess what if you do tap and

track face detection takes priority so it's gonna go jump back to my brother's

face or my sister-in-law's face or somebody else's face and I want the

stinkin cupcakes and focus so when you got to do you've got to turn off the

face detection so I'm the camera I had to press and assign on this button to

turn off face detection and on this button I had to make it turn off the

focus lock because now if you're doing the focus

tapping it'll jump to something similar and what you really need to do is you

need to change to a different focus program so I've got like three or four

buttons in combination with the actual function buttons and also the the

function button which will bring up one two three four five six seven and ten

eleven twelve different choices now I programmed those in because when you're

at a wedding let's pick on a wedding because that's a high-pressure

environment you need to quickly make sure that this camera is going to lock

on that bride okay now a experience Sony user is going to say register the face

well you can register three faces all right and that's all well and good

however you do need to be in a lot more control than just or just register the

face that is not going to hack it you need to drive this Lamborghini you know

which sometimes can get rough going around the edges and you can lose the

back end of the car if you don't know how to steer into a corner that's the

same position that the Sony puts you into so that is I'm calling it a

negative but it's more of a realization that you really have to drive this

camera it's important that you drive the camera where the Canon all you have to

do is tap on those cupcakes and it's gonna track those cupcakes

honest to god it will do that and the Sony will not the Sony all your in face

detection that's our priority so you got to turn face detection off and then

sometimes you need to turn the face detection right back on because you went

from the the frosting of the cupcakes at the dinner table

now you're going to somebody eating the piece of chocolate cake and yes we did

have chocolate cake okay and it was great and I ate a big piece I was going

to say I had to but you just met had a bigger piece but the point is at that

point I don't want to focus on the chocolate cake I want to focus on the

person that's actually eating the cake so I have to switch kind of like a

five-speed transmission or an 8-speed transmission I got a turn things on I

got to turn things off remember The Wizard of Oz remember when

they pull back the drape if you haven't seen this curtain I mean this movie

there's this guy that's got all these dials and valves and knobs and things

that he's turning on and off in The Wizard of Oz and he's in the corner and

in the in the big picture there's this big wizard that's like booming and

scaring the living crap out of everybody but there's this little guy that's you

know running the gears kind of like a big pipe organ with all kinds of knobs

this is kind of like what you're doing with the Sony you are basically running

changing valves changing buttons changing gears you know all through the

operation now is it a deal breaker no no no no no I'm emphasizing or over

emphasizing this so that you really understand all right that that you

really have to get a hold of the camera and you've got to drive the camera

yourself when you learn like I've had the camera now for five six seven days

as you ease into it a person that bought a Sony that's never experienced the

Canon or an icon it's gonna go like what are you talking about what are you

talking about that's the way it works okay now coming from cameras that

actually work more like cameras like they know that the focus of a particular

subject is super important because you're telling a story either in

pictures or you're telling a story in video to get that either in pictures or

in video all right so what Sony does is they keep piling stuff in to these menus

and that's great but you need to realize that it can overwhelm you and there will

be a learning curve if you're new to the Sony stick with it all right

I'm used to cameras so I've had it for about a week I'm rounding her out now

and I'm getting the hang of it better however in my mind I'm not only thinking

for family I'm thinking for high pressure because when you're in a

wedding situation you're truly truly in a very high-pressure situation and you

need to be able to turn that face detection off

you need to stop it from popping around with the tack track and tap and turn on

the other feature where it locks and stays because you want it to stay the

guys giving the you know the toast and he's got the the champagne in his hand

you want the camera to stay right there you don't want it to go over to the

person back there or some waiter that walked across the

back of the room so tack tap and track ain't gonna hack it and neither is gonna

be the face detection because the camera is like a child that gets detracted so

you want to tap on the guy that's giving the toast ladies and gentlemen the groom

has been since I was little kids and we grew up it needs to stay on him so

you're gonna lock the camera has another feature which is lock on that spot

alright so now we've got face detection we got tap and track and lock on the

spot all right no more focus don't move just stay locked then you've got another

button on the top opens up a whole new world you can have a wide area where it

looks or you can make it go down to a spot that you pick down it's kind of

like a combination of tap and track and focus lock so it's going to continue

focusing right where you put your finger and not track

you're gonna track so all of this has got to come together like The Wizard of

Oz where you can make everything into one big show and make a presentation so

I wanted to bring that out so that people understand that are coming in to

the sony from a cannon or an icon or a panasonic you can do it don't get

overwhelmed it's a day by day thing spend time with the old girl okay and

little by little you'll get to know her and if things will unfold if you're

straight into Sony you're gonna have to learn this stuff anyway I mean there's

no way around it because if you want to tell the story in video or in pictures

you're gonna have to be able to control your Maserati and because this thing is

definitely a Maserati all right it's a well built good operating machine but

you really gotta handle all stuff that comes with the territory okay

that's my kind of little bit of a feedback today on the Sony A7 Mark III it's I'm

new to Sony land not new to cameras I'm old old Oh and old with the cameras too

since the 70s or the 80s another confusing camera is the Olympus

I love taking I have an e/m one I have an e/m one I don't know where it is okay

I love putting it into the hands of a professional photographer and say change

the ISO go ahead I dare you and he'll look and look and look there's no

stinkin ISO button on the camera okay so that's about it I got to do I don't want

to say it's a rant because I like the camera and I respect people that buy it

and I bought it you're actually watching it so that's it for today if you've got

comments or questions be nice but put them down below please subscribe I love

LSU: in solidarity - April 19, 2018 - Duration: 4:00.

Hello,

The board would like to show support of the Latinx Students Union's

forum that took place at Gallaudet on Thursday, April 19th.

We are incredibly proud of the students, staff, and faculty

who took the courage to share their concerns, their vulnerabilities, and allyship.

However, we are concerned with several administrators and upper management staff

who constantly dismissed fears and vulnerabilities of the students who wanted support.

We noticed some comments from the administrators are inappropriate and unprofessional.

There were a lot of sweeping under the rug,

and the word 'but' was used heavily when students made suggestions or ask answers.

We want to remind the administration the issues addressed at the forum doesn't impact students only

but also staff and faculty who are immigrants themselves as well.

For example, there was comment from one administrator who stated, "when all of you felt uneasy, we do feel UNEASY too!"

We strongly felt that comment was inappropriate because they fail to recognize

they do not understand the experience of undocumented students and employees who live in the fear daily,

wondering one day would they come home and find their family gone?

The admin simply don't live the experience of thinking daily when they go to school...

would they arrest me at school?

When students sign their feelings and their fears,

we notice the responses of administrators were not tact nor coming from a place of compassion.

They continuously did not listen and repeatedly dismissed and condescended the students.

When they ask for feedback and suggestions from students,

and receive them, they show strong defensive mechanisms.

As DDBDDHH Latinx, we have the risk of being captured by ICE because of linguistic differences,

xenophobic bias, and many other factors that impact us as an individual and as a community.

ICE doesn't care if you're deaf.

Once you're brown and unable to communicate, you're a red flag ready for capture.

The university has a responsibility to protect every single student,

especially with their multiple intersectional identities, employee, and employers.

And today, we, the board, felt the administration did not listen with open mind and heart.

We would like to suggest for the administration to consider ongoing racial-basis trainings

to understand their privilege as white documented citizens.

To LSU, Dreamers, and all other students, employees, and faculty

who are fighting to keep Gallaudet safe,

Council de Manos is with you

We are with you all the way. We are behind you and we are proud of you.

Dating Apps at Cal: True Love on Tinder? - Duration: 1:50.

According to a national 2017 poll, 84% of college students are active on Tinder, yet

only 4% used it for the real possibility of a relationship.

Today, we're gonna see if this applies to Cal students as well.

Why are you on dating apps such as Tinder?

I think for me, I just, it's fun, something to do when I'm

bored, just seeing who's around, and I don't know, looking for people to possibly date,

be in a relationship with.

For me, it's the same thing. I like to just look

around and see who's on Tinder. Usually, I use Grindr a lot. It's for whenever I'm

like feeling bored, and I want to hook up.

Yeah, no, that's real!

Well, I just wanted to meet new people and try to see the people that I couldn't see in my

social circle or in my social group.

There was like a thing that happened, where I was just really sad, and I was like,

"Okay, I need some type of positive encouragement, and I was like, "Oh, yeah, you're cute."

Do you think you can find real relationships on Tinder or any dating app?

I mean, real recognizes real, and I'm

pretty sure I'll be able to, you know, find a real relationship if I tried, but

you know, not so far yet.

My friend recently got into a relationship with

someone on Tinder. She has two months with him already, so it's like

very rare, like a unicorn kind of thing, you know, but it's very rare but it can happen.

I think it's possible but like that's not what I want. There was one person

that I like kind of got a little bit more feelings for but that was like more

of a failure because I wasn't trying to go for that. Last year, mostly was when I

would go on dates. Right now, I haven't really gone anymore, but it would be fun

because it's like, "Oh you get to meet a new person and kind of see a

new perspective." I never really went anywhere. I actually never went on a Tinder

date or anything. It was always like chatting with them on the app but never

more than that, so it was more like talking buddies at that point.

Bonaire Coral Spawning | JONATHAN BIRD'S BLUE WORLD - Duration: 10:57.

Next on Jonathan Bird's Blue World, Jonathan spends

a week underwater at night waiting for the coral to spawn!

Hi, I'm Jonathan Bird and welcome to my world!

[♪ music]

Coral reefs are amazingly beautiful underwater sculptures that grow in tropical waters and

provide essential habitat for fish and invertebrates, as well as form an important part of the tropical

ocean ecosystem.

Some coral, like this bushy gorgonian, may look like a plant.

Other coral, such as this brain coral, looks like a boulder on the sea floor.

But coral is alive, and it's an animal. Look close enough and you'll see hundreds

of little mouths, such as the ones on this star coral colony. Each mouth belongs to an

individual coral animal, called a polyp.

Corals are related to jellies, so think of a coral colony as hundreds or thousands of

tiny jellies all clumped together.

Like jellies, coral has stinging tentacles to catch prey, which it mostly does at night.

But unlike jellies, corals grow attached to the bottom and often create a hard skeleton

to hold themselves down.

This begs the question—how does an animal that can't move reproduce and make a new

colony in a different place.

I'm on a mission to document how coral reproduces....

...so I have come to Bonaire, one of the greatest places in the world to learn about coral spawning.

Biologists have been studying coral reproduction here on Bonaire for more than a decade.

Bonaire is an island in the southern part of the Caribbean near Venezuela.

It's a beautiful place, full of Dutch architecture because it is part of the Netherlands.

The rocky, windward shoreline is rough, desolate and pounded by crashing waves,

but the other side of the island is calm and tranquil, where it is protected from the trade winds.

It's here that I will be diving to observe the coral.

Coral reproduction is not the easiest thing in the world to observe. That's because

coral reproduces by spawning. It only does it at night, and it only happens a couple

nights per year.

I have come to Bonaire a week after the full moon in September, when the corals are predicted

to spawn.

Why a week after the full moon? Well it has

to do with the tides. During a full moon you have what is called a spring tide. That's

when the high tide is really high and the low tide is really low, and you have a huge

amount of water movement between those two tides. A week later you have what's called

a neap tide. That's when the high tide is not quite so high and the low tide is not

quite so low. So you have a smaller amount of movement between the two tides. Less water

movement means less current and less current means that the eggs from the coral have more

time to float around in the water and get fertilized before the current takes them away.

As the sun sets, I prepare my gear. Soon I'll be heading out for a night dive. The corals

spawn under the cover of darkness.

Well, lets go see what's happening on the reef!

I head down the steps of the dock at Captain Don's Habitat. Cameraman Tim and I are diving

from the dock because the reef is only a few hundred feet off shore. We can do as many

dives as we need.

Down on the reef, I start hunting for signs that the coral might be ready to spawn. It's

pretty dark! I can only see as far as my flashlight beam.

I am looking at each coral head closely. If a coral colony is getting ready to spawn,

the polyps will be swollen with the eggs they are going to release. These don't look ready.

Movement catches my eye. A Spiny lobster is walking down the reef slope, so I take a few

minutes to watch. The spiny lobster has no big claws like the lobsters in New England.

Instead, its long antennae are covered in sharp spines for protection.

Nearby, an octopus is on the prowl, hunting for dinner. I follow along with my bright

video lights, but it doesn't take long for the octopus to decide that I'm not helping

its chances of finding a meal. It gives me the slip with a squirt of ink

as it jets away into a hole.

After three hours underwater with no sign of imminent coral spawning, Tim and I decide

to call it a night. We're tired.

Well, that was a long night...but no spawning tonight, so we'll try again tomorrow.

The next day I spend a little time touring around the island to see the sights.

First, a stop at lake Gotomeer to see the flamingos for which Bonaire is famous. Their

pink color comes from the shrimp they eat.

Next, I swing down to the incredible Cargill Salt Works to see the huge piles of salt created

by drying out seawater in vast shallow pools.

And of course to downtown Kralandijk for a few gifts at a colorful gift shop!

But then it's time to head back to the dive shop to prepare for the night dives.

Tim and I examine the predicted coral spawning times published by the Bonaire National Park.

Okay, tonight on the 29th, it is predicted to be the peak spawn, okay, so you'll notice

we have almost all of the species.

If we can't nail it tonight we'll never nail it.

No, tomorrow night the star corals and the brain corals should still be spawning. In

fact tomorrow night is the peak for the brain corals.

After dark, I suit up again for another long night.

Well, tonight's supposed to be the peak spawn. I'm hoping for a great show! Let's

check it out!

As I swim out to the reef, I'm joined by a school of gigantic tarpon. These big silvery

fish are as long as a bicycle, and have learned to use divers' lights to find smaller fish

to eat. They follow Tim and I around all night.

On any other night I would film these magnificent fish for the entire dive, but tonight I have

work to do. This is my fourth night observing the coral and my last chance to capture the

coral spawn.

I examine a coral head and I can see swollen polyps filled with big blobs that look like

eggs. They are actually called gamete bundles. I get ready with my camera and wait. The big

moment is definitely coming soon!

There! The colony has released its bundles! Since most corals are hermaphroditic, the

bundles contain both eggs and sperm. They float up into the water and separate. This

allows eggs and sperm from different coral colonies to mix together and cross-fertilize

in the water column.

They all release at the same time in order to overwhelm predators that come in to feed

on this nutritious food source.

Soon the water is filled with coral spawn! Not all corals are hermaphroditic though.

Some are gonochoric, meaning that they have separate male and female colonies.

The male colonies are easy to spot. When they release their sperm, it looks like they are

smoldering.

I train my camera on a big colony of Greater Star Coral and wait. In spite of my camera's

lights, it spawns, releasing clouds of sperm into the water.

While I'm waiting for this coral to spawn, a Tarpon passes by, checking out what I'm up to.

Once all of these eggs are fertilized, they will drift in the current for a while and

eventually settle down. If they are not eaten, and if they don't settle into water that

is too deep, or land on sand where they can't anchor themselves, they might land on a nice

hard surface and take hold.

A new coral colony will start growing.

After several hours observing the coral spawning, it's time to head to shore with our mission

accomplished!

What an amazing spectacle! Millions and millions of coral polyps all releasing their eggs at

the same time synchronized to the phase of the moon. Just an astonishing thing to see

and it just goes to show you, patience pays off because our perseverance over several

nights finally resulted in nature giving us an incredible show!

As I exit the water and head for a hot shower, I am thrilled to have witnessed one of nature's

secret spectacles. It was worth all those long nights of diving. But now, I'm ready

for bed!
