The Compound Effect Applied to Languages - Duration: 5:45.

Hi there! Luca from MosaLingua here.

Learning a language can seem like a huge task

and so many people get discouraged when they think about the amount of time

they need to invest to succeed. But today,

I want to help you see things in a completely different way.

By watching this video, you'll discover how small changes in your life

can make a huge difference when it comes to learning a language.

Before we get into today's topic, please do me a favor and subscribe to our channel.

Like that you won't miss out on any of our

great videos. And if you're watching this video

on Facebook, Instagram or any social media page,

be sure to like and/or follow us. Now, let's get back to the main point.

Have you ever heard of the compound effect?

In his famous bestseller Darren Hardy defines the compound effect as

the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices.

In the book, the author comes up with a simple formula

to explain how the compound effect works:

"Small, Smart Choices + Consistency + Time = Radical Difference"

You might tell me, "Okay, Luca, but how can

that equation help me learn a language?" It can help you a lot.

More than you think. Please bear with me. We often say that

ten minutes a day can be enough to learn a language.

Everyone, no matter how busy she or he is,

can find 10 minutes, right? The problem is that many people think that 10 minutes is too little time

to make any difference.

But, let's see what happens when you study 10 minutes per day for 90 days.

10 minutes * 90 days = 900 minutes

Which is 15 hours, but of course

nobody is telling you to stop after three months.

Let's see what happens if you continue:

10 minutes * 180 days = 1800 minutes

which is 30 hours of practice.

So if you reach six months, this will double your practice time, and if you reach

twelve months, this will result in

60 hours of study.

Think about it, 10 minutes seems like it would make little impact,

but, 15, 30, or 60 hours

dedicated to language learning and practice

can make a massive improvement in your skills.

And, if you're more motivated, you can study 20 minutes a day and double the compound effect.

Take a look here.

20 minutes * 90 days = 1800 minutes, which corresponds to 30 hours,

and so on... Let's go back to Darren Hardy's formula. Do you remember it?

"Small, smart choices + Consistency + Time = Radical Difference"

For language learners, this becomes:

"Choosing To Learn a Language For 10 Minutes Per Day +

Doing It Every Day

+ (for example) 90/180/360 Days

= Radical Progress

It's clear now that your decision to study for those apparently insignificant ten minutes a day

can result in many hours of practice and, consequently, in amazing progress.

And the beauty of the compound effect is that it has the ability to produce exponential results

If you're studying for 3 months, and you notice that you're improving,

you will be motivated to continue and probably invest even more time in

your language practice. Of course, you need

to be smart and make the best use of these hours.

You might know from experience that in many countries the majority of students

cannot speak a foreign language,

even after many, many hours of classes.

But, luckily for you, you're watching this video

and in the description below we have suggested the tools and methods

to make the best use of this time.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend that you:

1st. Make the small choice to study a language for at least 10 minutes per day.

2nd. Be consistent and do it every day

3rd. Continue for a considerable amount of time,

for example, 3, 6 or 12 months

And finally, (4th) Enjoy the results of the compound effect on your language skills.

Now a final thought. People often talk about

the compound effect to explain that

if you regularly save money,

in the long run, you will end up with a lot of savings.

But if you think about it, it makes even more sense to invest

in learning a language because what you know and the skills you develop will

always be with you. If you learned something new

from this video, please give it a thumbs up,

Preparing for the Holidays with Your Child with Autism - Duration: 8:37.

Holidays can be a stressful time for children with autism and their families, as well as

for the professionals who work with them.

Today I'm going to give you some tips that might help make your holidays a little bit

less stressful, and more joyful.

Hi, I'm Doctor Mary Barbera, autism mom, board certified behavioral analyst, best-selling

author, and online course creator.

Each week I provide you with some of my ideas about turning autism around, so if you haven't

subscribed to my YouTube channel, you can do that now.

But holidays are filled with unusual sensory stimuli, and can be a major disruption in

a child's routine, causing stress for them and their families, and it can also cause

stress for professionals.

Maybe the holidays will involve traveling, saying over at a hotel, or at a relative's

home, or it may involve distant relatives staying over at your home, or visiting, as

well.

Here are some tips to make the holidays a little bit less stressful, and more enjoyable.

First of all we want to assess the situation, assess your child's skills and deficits, including

his or her usual response to holidays, and specific special occasions.

Some children are fine with holidays, or maybe just some of the holidays are a problem, and

some holidays go great.

Think about what part of the holidays are more stressful.

The introduction of unfamiliar, or less familiar people, and changes in routine can often be

the major factors causing stress.

And every holiday may bring it's own unique challenges.

So, for example, if you celebrate Christmas, your child may have difficulty with furniture

being moved around so that you can fit the tree in a certain spot.

They might benefit from you getting out pictures of past Christmases so you can show them where

the furniture goes for the Christmas tree to fit.

Or maybe your child has difficulties with the noise of the Fourth of July, or New Year's

Eve parties, particularly because New Year's Eve celebrations are often late at night,

and can disrupt sleep, on top of being noisy.

If you're going to be traveling by car, train, or plane to celebrate a holiday, be sure to

bring your child's favorite toys, books, electronics because there's often wait times, and with

traveling, you never know what you're going to face.

So bringing the child's familiar things will sometimes help.

We also want to prepare your child, and others, as much as possible.

Whenever feasible, if you're having relatives stay in your home, for instance, and everybody

has to switch beds, and allow for the visitors to stay, whenever possible, keep your child

in their own bed, in their own room, if possible.

This will usually result in a lot better success than if you have your child also move locations

to sleep.

If traveling to someone else's home, it's best to educate family members or friends

with strategies that may help reduce anxiety and problem behaviors.

For example, if your child doesn't like hugs, you may want to tell the family members that

you're visiting to avoid hugging, or insisting that the child greet them in a certain way.

You may also want to tell them to avoid asking questions, especially on arrival, and you

may want to work with them to identify a space that can be kind of a calm space, or a calm

room, if the child should become overwhelmed during the visit.

If a lot of support is needed, like my son, Lucas, is a young adult now, and he is usually

in a one-to-one situation in his work environment, and home, he needs a lot of supervision.

If that's the case with your child, you may want to have a point person.

That person could be a parent or an older sibling, or another relative, to give that

child one-to-one attention and support during the holiday.

The first thing they should do is, make sure the child stays safe, and doesn't ruin anything.

I remember one of the holidays, we were at a relative or friend's house, and Lucas got

a hold of markers, and wrote on a wall.

I mean, that's really embarrassing, but it will happen if you don't have somebody kind

of keeping an eye on the situation, making sure they don't get into things.

And also, I have heard a story or two of a child, when not given enough support, actually

wandered away from a holiday celebration.

So you want to make sure that this point person, whoever's in charge, and that point person

can rotate every couple of hours.

Every hour you're like, "Okay, Susie, you're on Johnny for the next hour."

So Susie knows that she needs to stay in the same room, keep an eye, make sure that the

child is not getting overwhelmed, and also that person, that point person, can provide

additional reinforcement.

So I do think that that is a really good thing to implement if your child needs additional

support, reinforce, and prevention of overwhelm, and keeping them safe, and keeping the house

that you're at safe.

If the holidays involve gifts, you may want to practice gift giving, and actually unwrapping

presents because your child may not get enough practice with that in between the holidays.

You can empty boxes, or wrap your child's existing toys into boxes, and practice the

skill of opening, and even thanking people for presents, waiting their turn as other

people unwrap their presents.

If you need this extra practice, that might be a good thing.

Now, I know had talked a lot about picky eating in past blogs, including one specifically

about picky eating, but picky eating, or having your child on a special diet needs advanced

planning, too.

So you may want to bring your child's food, or make sure that whoever's hosting the holiday

event will present food that your child will eat.

This is not the time to be working on expanding the child's diet.

They're going to enough unusual stimuli in the environment.

They should have their regular foods that you know they'll like and eat well.

You know your child with autism best, so you're the best one to prepare him or her to avoid

stress and overwhelm.

You may have holiday things you want to avoid all together, like Black Friday shopping,

of a New Year's Eve party.

It may just be easier and more pleasant for everyone if you hire a babysitter for certain

events, or stay home with your child and have your own, more quiet fun.

Finally, I think it's always great to have realistic expectations, and try to make each

holiday season just a little bit better than the last one by preparing and planning.

By preparing ahead, you should keep stress down, so that you can have a happier holiday

season.

Wherever you're watching this, please leave me a comment.

Let me know how your holidays are going.

Give me a thumbs up, and share this video with others who may benefit, and to learn

more, you can go to MaryBarbera.com/workshops to attend a free workshop that will help you

increase language and decrease problem behavior in your child or client with autism.

Thanks for watching.

Happy holidays, and I'll see you right here next week.

"Vorrei tanto dirglielo a Francesco", afferma Marco

Con questo Ferri vuole dire che in realtà i due gieffini non sono fatti per stare insieme?

DON'T GO BROKE (Realistic Financial Advice for ENFPs) - Dreams Around The World - Duration: 8:13.

Hey Dan here and in this video we're going to

cover some realistic financial advice for ENFPs.

Now, if you're new here, my name is Dan and I'm

the creator of ENFP Unleashed and my mission at Dreams

Around The World is to help you create the most

awesome life possible for you and those you love.

Now, financial advisor

is one thing I could do here is go through a

bunch of cliche financial planning rules written

by ISTJs is about how you should save 10 percent

and how you should compound your interest and

always make sure to budget each month 200 and 17

dollars for groceries a hundred and four Our

dollars for whiskey that's not going to happen

now. Maybe if you are in has found a way to make

this work will leave it below in the comments I

wanna hear from you, but what I'm gonna share is

realistic. Financial advice that can actually

help make life a lot easier for us. Peace so

let's start with investing. If you're going to

invest is and invest in yourself, we are likely

to have some financial ups and downs most people

do eat peas or not, whether it from job loss or

divorce or just being idiots with money, but

we have even a little more of this in our in our

lives Careers and that's fine that's what makes

life fun and interesting and why most people

think we're kind of awesome. But it does mean

that there is a chance of losing a big part of

your investments. Now. I'm not saying to never

investor never save money or anything like that

but what I am saying is one of the best

investments you can make is investing in yourself

uh education you know useful education, training

courses mentorship ugh health you know working

out taking care of yourself that way, even things

like memories and trips, like if you take some

money and you travel around the world for a year

and five 10 years from now you're never gonna

look back and be like oh man remember that time I

wasted that money traveling the world and having

an amazing time. I couldn't put that into my my

space stock and I would have had seven dollars

now damn what I miss out on that right. So invest

in yourself that can never be taken away from

you. I would highly highly recommend that, as

well I think investing in ourselves is one of the

best compound interest. If you spend a thousand

dollars today learning to be may be more

productive or better at business or more

efficient or effective or something like that

you're probably gonna earn back Aka thousand

dollars or more every year from now until forever

based on that knowledge and becoming a better

version of yourself. So I just mentioned as we

have these ups and downs kinda happening, steady

source of income can be really nice as and

now I've been an entrepreneur for over a decade

now, I know not. Everyone watching this is but

this is especially important if you're, an

entrepreneur, if you are an employee, you

probably have a steady source of income cuz

that's how employment works do not take this as

me saying

should be employees now How do we do it to

yourself, but this is me saying is that, as an

entrepreneur or freelancer coach someone like

that, looking for income streams within your

business that provide apes teddy consistent

income and you can mix that with kind of bigger

projects and bigger things. You do so give you an

example just out of my own business is there some

things. I do like having an event that is a one

-time source of income. I will host an event.

People will come to it and that is money. I earn

one time that is a really fun part of my

business. I love hosting events. I love meeting

new people and I love the challenge of figuring.

It all out and everything like If I only did

event my income would be like oh event, oh, God

oh, God no money yoga event and it wouldn't be

great also gonna be great. Cuz I've been really

stressed and worried about the income from the

event rather than worried about having an awesome

event, but I have other parts of my business. I

have books I've written which provide pretty much

like every month. I'm like there will be this

amount of money plus or minus a few dollars

landing on my Bank account is just how it has

been for years. I have on going coaching clients

that we have a relationship where every month

their pain is certain Mount and we work together,

one on one and that is the consistent income part

of my business and I found that in general for

the personality type this works really well,

because we can work hard and put all that energy

into creating something like writing a book. But

then, rather than getting, like 10000 dollars

right away from riding in the book. We might get

500 dollars every month from sales or 200 dollars

whatever it happens to be for your book um and

that is eight Better way to be paid because if

we're burning all the money up front like let's

say, when I was a freelance writer, if someone

hired me to write a book, I might charge them.

Five thousand dollars and I get that money.

Upfront to be like yeah we're going to party and

then like a few months later, like a okay gotta

write another book for someone else because I

have no money and that's often how people get

stuck in the cycle of like jobs, they don't like

her working for people. They don't like, is doing

Or over spending when they have the money rather

than saving and that kind of thing so with

writing, a book for myself. It is the difference

between that and ghost writing is ghostwriting. I

get all the money up front writing. It for

myself, let's say. I got 200 dollars a month from

it over two years. I'm getting roughly the

five thousand back and then every month I keep

getting 200 that works a little better. I think,

and in joy, it more because you have the

consistent income every month and it's a little

more predictable, which allows you to plan it

allows you like I can take a month off now and a

lot of my Um basically stays the same and that

has worked really well. This isn't quite contrast

to when I was freelance copy writing and during

that time I had actually so I had two types of

faces when I was feeling to copy ready. I had a

phase where I was just doing one off client

project and I might have a 10000 dollar project

and that was Super cool. It was like great look

at all this money, but then I'd have to work on

that project and I wouldn't have new clients for

a few months and you know you can have a dip and

then I had other times where I had retainers

where clients will pay me 20 500 dollars a month

and it's just you got that money. You did some

work for us and that So as you might expect

always preferable as well, so when you can look

for opportunities to have the consistent monthly

income with clients or with products, you create

or services. You offer and it might seem obvious.

But it's really not and it's just a different way

of thinking about setting up your services. How

you market yourself and that kind of thing even

if it's the choice is like five thousand dollars

now or five thousand dollars spread out over the

year in general, assuming you know that the

client will pay you and there's, not credit

issues or something I would always take it spread

Because psychologically that's going to be alot

better for you and encourage you to up your game

and earn more money to add to that monthly

income. So that is my realistic financial advice

for he's just based on my own experiences as well

as a bit of the coaching I've done with

you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the

Why do people say that the Transformers movies suck?

So I made a list of things why I personally think the Transformers movies are crap

First

Transformers

was a cartoon to promote a toyline

and it's the movie version of that

the story is weirdly pretencious and at the same time mind numbingly boring

The acting is...although I like bat shit crazy Shia Labeouf

but his acting in this (and a lot of the other people) is mediocre at best

aside from Optimus Prime and Bublebee the transformers are hard to tell apart

so it looks like there's a ton of black and silver robots

so when they're fighting it's a black and silver CG mess

and also

I think it was 2 (haven't watched passed that)

the final battle was over an hour

If the Avengers do that I'm invested, so it doesn't really matter

but with Transformers half the time I'm not sure what's going on

and it's just so boring

so boring

last of all

the humor

is below primamry school

like who the fuck watches it and thinks it's funny?

In closing Fuck Michael Bay

the silver lining is

I watched the Bumblebee trailer

it actually looks promising

Look at Me!

By Robert Munsch.

Illustrated by Michael Martchenko.

When Madison's grandma came to visit, everyone decided to go for a walk downtown.

In front of city hall, Madison said,

"Look! Look! Look! I found a ticket – a ticket for free face painting at the park."

"Neat," said Madison's grandma. "Let's go to the park."

At the park, Madison got in a long, long line.

A girl came and said, "Get a scary face like mine."

"No," said Madison.

A boy came and said, "Get a tiger face like mine."

"No," said Madison.

A girl came and said, "Get a butterfly face like mine."

"NO," said Madison.

Finally it was Madison's turn.

"I want," said Madison, "just on my cheek, a small, perfect rose that looks really real."

"Really real?" said the face painter.

"Really real!" said Madison, and the face painter spent a long, long time painting a small, perfect rose that looked really real.

"That's a nice flower," said Madison's dad. "Now let's go look in some stores."

At the hardware store, when her father was looking at drills and saws, Madison whispered,

"Daddy! I think my flower is growing."

"That's nice," said her father.

"Daddy," whispered Madison.

"Look! Look! Look! Please really LOOK at me. My flower is growing! There was just one rose, and now there are two."

Madison's father looked very closely at Madison's face and said,

"Why, there really are two roses, one on each cheek! But I think it was that way already."

At the kitchen store, when her mother was looking at pots and pans, Madison said,

"Mommy! My flower is growing."

"That's nice," said Madison's mother.

"Mommy," said Madison.

"Look! Look! Look! Please really LOOK at me! My flower is growing! There was just one rose, and now there are three."

Madison's mother looked very closely atMadison's face and said,

"Why, there are three roses! I thought you just asked for one."

"I did ask for one rose," said Madison.

"Well, I guess that face painter gave you three," said Madison's mother.

At the ice cream shop, Madison said,

"Grandma! My flower is growing."

"That's nice," said Madison's grandma.

"Grandma!" said Madison.

"Look! Look! Look! Please really LOOK at me! My flower is growing! There was one rose, and now there are twenty-four

. . . and I think a leaf is growing out my ear!"

Then Madison turned over her arms.

Ten roses were going down each arm, and while her grandma looked, another rose grew on the end of each stem.

"One rose was nice," said Madison. "Twenty-six is too many."

"This is serious!" said Madison's grandma, and she picked up Madison and ran down the street to the doctor's office.

The doctor was no help.

She said, "I know a lot about people, but not a lot about plants."

"Let's try the garden store," said Madison.

At the garden store, the man behind the counter said, "Weed poison! Check out our Wonderful Weed Whomper!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" yelled Madison. "No Weed Whomper."

"I know," said Madison.

"Let's be nice to the rose. I will go home and take a nap with a large flower pot beside my bed, and maybe the rose will go and live in the flower pot."

When Madison woke up, there was a huge rose bush in the flower pot, and just one perfect rose on her cheek.

Madison's grandma took the rose bush home and planted it in her garden, where it stayed until it found a better place to grow.

It Was Tough Keeping 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' a Secret - Duration: 1:11.

- [Vanellope] This is the most beautiful miracle

I've ever seen!

- Are you excited to finally be able

to talk about this movie, like for real?

- Yeah, I've gotten in trouble a couple of times in the past

for talking about it before I was allowed to talk about it.

I think I was the one who announced

that we're doing a sequel,

just inadvertently at a Q and A for something else.

But yeah, I'm really excited to be able to talk about it.

It's a labor of love,

it's a real family of people

that we've created over the past two movies.

We've got some really special things in this film that,

it's entertaining,

but it also has a lot of heartfelt stuff in it

that I think people are gonna relate to.

- How hard was it keeping this movie a secret

with John C. Reilly in the cast?

- Oh, well it was,

I mean for the longest time

we didn't talk about Gal Gadot being in the film.

Man it was like, "Don't say anything!"

Like I was constantly...

every day it was a daily struggle

that I would have to tell myself,

"You will not say anything to anyone

outside the walls of Disney about who's in this movie."

- And what the story is,

I mean there's still stuff I hope we hold off on

much of the mayhem of the third act

that people can discover on their own.

By preparing ahead, you should keep stress down, so that you can have a happier holiday

season.
